Quite an advanced railway very impressive, gonna create a very impressive economic stronghold

The United Kingdom Republic was founded in 2032, ruled as a fascist police state by the National Liberal Party, under the all-powerful High Chancellor. The state rules by terror, its Imperial Military and secret police acting as its iron fist. The culture of the republic is described as oppressive, racist and xenophobic, predicated on an unconditional hatred and rejection of anything and everything "other". Violence is so ingrained in culture that it self-propagated as an evolutionary survival mechanism, resulting in barbarism being commonplace. In the Imperial Military, officers promoted themselves by killing superiors that did not follow the rules of the republic. Torture is a common form of interrogation and discipline.

Ok but why is it named "United Kingdom Republic"? If it's a Republic, it can't be united nor a kingdom -by definition. Why not just use "Republic of Great Britain" or some rubbish like that? (Or more accurately, The Commonwealth of Britain)

When the Stormcloaks attacked Whiterun, they did not bring any artillery with them. No trebuchets, no catapults. Even the mages weren't adept in using missile-class destruction or area-of-effect alteration spells. What they did bring was Wulfgar Stormblade, Dragon of the North. Ysmir Wulfgar spoke only three words, and the hill that Whiterun was built upon nearly fell apart -the entirety of Whiterun's defense artillery and the Legion's garrison on the city's walls annihilated within seconds, such was his voice that the Stormcloaks had to gag him just to make sure there would be a city remaining. When the Stormcloaks laid siege to Solitude seven months later, they did not gag him.

Would use of a dragon so powerful just the words it speaks destroy entire cities count as a war crime or WMD?

The coup of 1977 removed an increasingly authoritarian Premier from power, and ended with the removal of the (first)Union Party from New Transeurasian politics. The Premier elections of 1960 and 1965 saw decreasing support for the Union Party, and during the 1970 Premier election, the Union Party had rigged elections in some cities, and the populist Union Party candidate Dmitro Vasylyšyn became Premier. This led to a scandal for the whole length of Vasylyšyn's premiership. In 1973, the National Assembly attempted to vote to remove Vasylyšyn from office, though Vasylyšyn declared a state of emergency 2 days before the vote was scheduled. NT's constitution of 1951 forbade the Premier from leaving office(unless the Premier dies) during a state of emergency. The state of emergency lasted for 4 more years, where the 1975 Premier election had to be cancelled. At one point in early 1975, Vasylyšyn had allowed police officers to carry military-grade assault rifles and listen in on citizens' phone calls without warrants. This was prompt for a coalition(named the NT Liberation Government) of 3 medium-sized parties, the National Party, which formed as a libertarian movement in the 1950s, the Social Democrat Party, which formed in the early 1960s, and the NT Communist Party, which formed from the moderate remnants of the CPNT(which in turn formed from the CPSU in 1930), to devise a plan to seize power from the rightist authoritarian government. The plan began in late 1975 with bribing military officials. This gained the military's(2nd largest in the world at the time, behind only that of the US) support for the NTLG. Much planning, bribing, and use of ways to silently gain support from the populace later, in the late morning on Friday, 20 May, 1977, the NT Military stormed the National Assembly and the Moscow Kremlin. Union Party(and affiliate parties) National Assembly members were removed from the legislature, and forbidden to return, and Dmitro Vasylyšyn was arrested. The National Party, Communist Party and Social Democrat Party chose Communist Party leader Xūn Yáng to become temporary Premier, as neither the National Party and Social Democrat Party had single leaders(instead they were run by a council). NT Communist Party leader Xūn Yáng claimed temporary Premiership until the 1980 Premier election. On 22 June, 1977, Dmitro Vasylyšyn was sentenced by the NT Supreme National Court to death by firing squad on multiple counts of election tampering, implementation of discriminatory policies, and 1,643 counts of murder(of political rivals). This was the last death sentence carried out by NT's government to this day, meaning no death sentences have been made in 54 years. Xūn Yáng repealed nearly every piece of legislation Vasylyšyn had passed, placed strict restrictions on the economy for environmental purposes(Pollution in NT's universe in 1977 was like that of around OTL 2010), and removed many things that impeded the direct democratic process that NT's elections are supposed to have, like Provincial Electoral Representatives, and instead counted votes nationally. Though not much other improvements were made by the time the 1980 premier elections came. Xūn Yáng did not run in the 1980 Premier election, and a National Party candidate(Feliks Brzezicki) was elected.

Opinion: Tbh, it is kind of weird to see libertarians and communists banding up together at something, although it makes sense in the contest. Also, the National Party sounds very nationalistic for a libertarian party, tbh. Either way, it is good, that Transeurasia is no more a dictatorship in such case, as otherwise the Premier would probably have turned into a second Stalin.

Fact time!

''(SC's space expansion AU, a.k.a. the most unlikely scenario. Non-canon, of course! ''Current'' year would be 6030) [1] When SC started to colonize Luna and Mars, it soon found out, that the traditional agricultural methods were way more insufficient with the amount of limited available space and land in the colonies. So, out of necessity, SC put a lot more effort in researching cultured meat production, and alternative greenhouses, where available space was used as much as possible. At first, however, SC faced issues with cultured meat - one of them was the lack of structure in meat, if compared to the traditional beef/chicken/mutton/pig meat, which meant, that at first, the cultured meat was available only as minced meat. Second, there was also a lack of immunity for the meat, so albeit there weren't much of bacteria on Mars anyways, some of the microbes and bacteria from travelers themselves could potentially infect the meat. Still, those issues were sorted out eventually, as alternative farming methods progressed past their infancy, and soon they became the main source of production of food for SC's colonies in Solar System. Of course, with the growth of population on the colonies, the size of cultured meat vats and alternative farms was in a need of expansion, but it still took a considerably less amount of land, than in case, if traditional farming methods were used. (In fact, SC's astronomers estimated, that ''in order for traditional farming methods to pay off on the colonies, those planets and moons would need to be terraformed, which would require an absurd amount of time and resources, making it even more inefficient to do) However, Earth - the capital planet, and birthplace of SC, still held on to the traditional agriculture for a long time, as it had a lot more space available, despite the traditional agriculture becoming increasingly more inefficient. However, in the end, even the most traditionalist politicians had to admit, that ''traditional agriculture was not sustainable in the long term, due of increasing population pressure on Earth's food supply system, which would mean cutting down even more trees for agricultural pastures''. Of course, many traditionalists opposed the switch, and there were even revolts, and civil wars within regions, where traditional agrarianists had held power - perhaps the most noticeable war in SC's America was the Midwest Revolt, where national anarchist, agrarian militias seized power, after their party's leader was ready to accept the reforms, and smashed apart most of the cultured meat vats, as they thought, that ''it would put traditional farmers out of work'', and Tom had to use military force to crush the agrarian militias, and restore order there. Tom ordered to burn down the farms/fields of those farmers, which supported the agrarian militias, and plant trees afterwards instead. However, by 6030, traditional agriculture is practically unheard of in Pax Solaris, and is mentioned only in history books, and most of meat is grown in vats. Some theoreticians think, that ''traditionally styled agriculture will be re-vitalized with terraforming the Pax Solaris colonies'', but as terraforming is a very long and expensive process, it is not likely to happen in near future. Also, even if Mars actually got terraformed at some point, the first winters wouldn't be anything pleasant - as Mars is further from Sun than Earth, it would be colder by default, leading to shorter farming seasons, thus reducing the amount of crops being able to survive on its terraformed soil.''

''[2] The way how internet functions in Pax Solaris is significantly different - due of the distances between planets, there is an extreme amount of latency, as it can take 30 minutes to send data from Mars to Earth, and even for Luna - the Earth's moon, there is about 1-3 second latency. The latency increases even more the further you go away from Earth - for example, it would take hours to send a signal from Neptune's moon Triton to Earth alone. So, the planets and moons have so-called ''internet bubbles'', which means, that things like surfing, and live streaming are solely restricted to the local planet/moons internet - for example, the equivalent of youtube on Mars would be titled as ''youtube.mars'' (In fact, SC (Pax Solaris) eventually ditched the domain .fae, and replaced it with .earth, for an example, in order to indicate the internet bubbles in Pax Solaris, as SC was no longer located on Earth alone), which means, that its users would be able to mostly see only the content from Mars itself - even linking to the Earth's youtube through e-mail wouldn't work, as a message like this would appear: ''The access to this video was denied by the state internet provider, due of the fact, that it is located outside of Mars internet bubble''. Speaking of e-mail, however, it would be one of the few things, which would be available to be used in transferring the data between planets/moons, as while it would still take a long time for message to get to the receiver, and for receiver to reply to sender, it would be way more plausible than accessing a life-stream from an another planet. Even with the advance of technologies like 5G, internet speeds between planets remain painfully slow. However, for smaller planets, internet connection is pretty fast - for example, due of Mars being about 2 times smaller than Earth, internet on Mars would be 2 times faster, if the same provider would be used. For a while, there was an attempt to store as much information as possible from Earth's internet in the servers of other planets, and update it regularly, so the colonists would be able to use Earth's internet in a way. However, that meant, that the colonists were inevitably using outdated content, and they still weren't able to do things like playing games based on Earth's servers. So, it was eventually scraped in favor of the local internet bubbles - it meant, that users of each planet produced a relatively unique content from Earth, as they weren't able to directly interact with Earth's internet, and communities in internet were built from scratch too. However, such system also made it very easy for planetary administrations to block things what they didn't like, and instate censorship, as any news from Earth had to be directly delivered with spaceship (Which could take weeks, even months), or as transcripts through e-mail, and as all of SC's planet and moon governments can read private messages, they could very well throttle the connection between Earth and other planet/moon, and use ''unexpected latency problems'' as an excuse. Some have criticized the idea of ''internet bubbles'', but Tom thinks of it ''as the best system available''.''

... Well, that's one way to defend a nation. Atleast you still have a military.

Uvoan's primary, mass-produced battleship is the Territory class. This monstrous design, weighing in at 84,000 tons, is armed with 4x 18" guns, and can make 25 knots. First laid down in 1937, the first of the ships class, the 'Capital Territory', was finished in 1939. Following the commissioning of this ship, over 38 more of these monstrous super-battleships would roll off Uvoanian slip-ways, and into the war.

Their first battle would come in 1940, during the invasion of Norway. One of these monstrous capital ships would actually nearly sink the entire german invasion force, before it was forced to return to the British Isles for repairs, following dozens of torpedo strikes- It is estimated that the 'Foreign Territories', the 8th ship of the class to be built, sunk nearly 48 German transports before being forced to retreat.

However, one of their most famous uses was during the Normandy landings- When 20 of these monstrous battleships would be sent to beat the landing zones into submission- Five per landing zone. The flagship of the Uvoanian effort, the UGN 'Voroan Territory', would have a famous picture of her taken during this battle- Flying all battle insignia, along with the flags of all allied nations, as her guns roared in anger at Sword beach.

Their final battle, of WWII, would come in supporting landings in the pacific- On Iwo Jima, to be specific. Their 18" guns pounded the shores of the island for days leading up to the actual invasion, before they would ultimately return home. Following the end of WWII, these ships would be modernized, and many of them have served up until the modern day, 1984. However, these ships are not invincible, and their age is starting to show, in the modern age...

Financially, makes sense to keep using ships that does its job. Militarily, the 30+ years of no upgrade is poor management. Even if it's a powerful ship full of successes, at least upgrade it overtime given the political environment the nation is surrounded in.

During World War II, Borgovia actually tried to negotiate with Japan, Italy, and Thailand to abandon the Axis and join the allies, thereby releasing occupied territories of China, Vietnam, French Saigon, French Laos-Cambodia, Philippines, and other islands from allied territories. Japan assumed Germany is the inevitable winner, and with the collapse of France at the hands of Germany, Japanese & Italian leaders returned Borgovia's messages actually asking them to join the Axis instead.

To the Borgovians, the Japanese & French are genetically superior to the 'subhuman' Germans, after all, Germany's best scientists are Jewish thus the country stayed afloat because non-subhumans contributed to their advancement. However, with France & Belgium falling so quickly to German advances, the Japanese began having doubts about Borgovia's view of the world. Maybe the Borgovians were wrong, maybe Latin Europeans are not Europe's "destined rulers", maybe it was the Germanics. Maybe the Chinese are not destined to lead Eastern Asia into glory, but the Japanese. Because Borgovia have a long history of cooperation with the Japanese, they still see Borgovia as a friend, and urged them to reconsider their alliances. Borgovia, choosing to remain loyal to France, declared Japan and Thailand traitors to civilization.

Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Borgovia, Peru, Paraguay, Bolivia (Bolivia, Columbia, & Ecuador), and China had a military and economic pact, albeit a very unstable one, which was broken when Japan and Thailand invaded Vietnam & China. When negotiations failed, Borgovia declared war on the Axis bringing along the entirety of South America including middle powers like Brazil. Unlike the United States, Borgovia does not oppress its Japanese population but they did intensify its oppression of its Germanic, Bulgarian, and Hungarian population. For example: Japanese, Italian, Thai, and Romanian POWs between the ages of 18 - 25 are off limits when it comes to pushing them into 'Catamite Brothels' where young POWs are cross-dressed and sold out to prostitution to raise funds for the Fortuna Project, which later became the city of Fortuna. Japanese, Italian, Thai, and Romanian nurses are also spared the brothels, and they're all spared mandatory blood and organ donation. They're also given more reasonable working hours & quotas while you'd see Hungarians or Bulgarians shot point blank by a correctional officer for not meeting work quotas.

Only Japanese, Italian, Thai, and Romanian POWs were given the opportunity to become Borgovian citizens, thus escaping the dystopian hellhole in Fortuna, in exchange for serving the country against their former comrades.

Propaganda audio in their languages while they're slaving away:
"Fortuna, Borgovia was a young a country and we still are. After freeing ourselves from Spain, we were poor, oh so very poor. Montevideo, Santiago, Buenos Aires were poor, yes, Fortuna, cities founded by Romans were poor. Instead of fighting, instead of fueling ourselves with hatred, we look into the void of space. We prayed to God. It told us: Work harder. Look at Buenos Aires and Santiago today, the result of our diligence! Now Fortuna, it's your turn: Work harder"
Was once a ruthless capitalist Corporate State in South America (1800s - 1950s), but has since reformed into a Social Democratic, Federal, Parliamentary Republic whose politics is 90% of my irl views. We're Italo-Spanish-Chinese influenced and thus there's a lot of Chinese and Greco-Roman cultural references.

The world in this nation is changing for the better, current year is 2042.

Call us "Borgovia".

I think you have a bit of a pre-occupation with the inferiority of Germans. Is your country anything other than an anti-German propaganda state?

In the Erbonian legal system, many crimes allow a plea of mens corrupta meaning corrupted mind. This is a plea which asserts that the accused was corrupted by 'evil forces corruptive of the mind', i.e. demonic or Satanic possession. The result of a successful plea of mens corrupta is that the matter is transferred to the ecclesiastical courts, which have a lower standard of proof but also far less severe penalties. For example, a charge of grievous battery, with a possible sentence of up to ten years' penal servitude in the regular courts, may be reduced to a sentence of one year's imprisonment, amercement, fasting and penance.

Nowadays, a plea of mens corrupta has solidified into almost a legal fiction, although in so far as it is generally believed that inclination to crime is a work of the devil, it is not a true legal fiction. The requirement for the plea is normally the testimony of the parish priest asserting as such, although the judge is entitled to request additional proof. Hence, the plea works to enable a level of discretion for the judge, as to whether or not the plea, and consequent lesser punishment, should be allowed.

The plea is only allowed for crimes recognised by canon law, and is limited by operation. Offences with malice prepensed are excluded, such as forestall, treason and murder, as well as other pre-meditated crimes such as armed robbery, espionage, plotting and conspiracy. It does, however, include crimes of passion and opportunity, such as adultery, sodomy, manslaughter by chance medley and procuration of a miscarriage.

I'll be honest, the fact that a concept as ridiculous as "corrupted mind" has ever existed in your country's legal history is disappointing to me as an aspiring lawperson

The fact that non-Nords can not become Tongues is a well-documented fact that has been observed for the last four eras. The fact that non-men cannot become Dragonborn is even easier documented -as the idea of the Dragonborn is granted by Shor, as opposed to Akatosh. The distinct difference between the Dragonborn (Dovahkiin, a person with the soul of a dragon that is an earthly manifestation of the Nordic god Ysmir, himself a divine avatar of Shor) and dragonborn (a person under a pledge to Auri-El, Dragon god, that allows them to keep the dragonfires lit by using the Amulet of the Kings) and the fact that the two were one and the same throughout the 3rd era (as every Emperor was actually a Dragonborn, a manifestation of Ysmir on earth) made this very awkward and made academia very confused, because elves absolutely can become dragonborn (they're more likely to be so, given Auri-El is their chief god and not that of men).

Siding with Japanese imperialists? Okay, that's acceptable worldbuilding for an evil civ, but pimping out prisoners? That makes your world look more crapsack than it should be. Add a little, no, a lot of sugar, won't you?

AN: Okay, that gets me confused, I admit.

In Hero Kings worldbuilding, the "main elements" used are based on the Chinese Five Elements; Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water. This is why some elements more prevalent in other works, such as Wind/Air, Ice, and Electricity, are rarer, and thus more powerful in the Hero Kings universe. In addition, there's more than one Infinity +1 Element. These are called "Exalted Elements", which are elements that transcends Earth, both in planetary and dimensional terms. These elements are Time, Space, Nuke, Gravity, and Soul. Granted, these elements are not strong towards everything, but rather deals normal damage to everything with some exceptions.

Time deals normal damage to everything except buildings and objects/creatures made of (almost) timeless materials, such as stone or earth, where it does only half damage, and to Elder creatures, such as Elder Dragons, Elder Vampires, Elder Ghosts and Elder Demons, which it's 50% more effective. Space deals normal damage to everything but is 50% more effective against cosmic and interdimensional beings, including Angels, Celestials, Demons, Indralokans (Hindu Gods) and Ghosts. Nuke deals normal damage to everything but is more effective against organic creatures suffering from any debuff or status ailment. Gravity deals more damage to bigger creatures and objects but deals half damage to vehicles and creatures that fly. Soul deals heavy damage to all living creatures but deals zero damage to things lacking a soul (vehicles, buildings, robots, etc).

The Church of Nortend has a large number of chantry priests and collegiate canons, whose formal responsibility is to celebrate masses and chaunt the Divine Office. Since the promulgation of the canon entitled Quia solliciti by Henry V, the traditional eight offices of prayer have been replaced by a simplified four offices: Mattins, Nones, Vespers and Vigils, which are chaunted around dawn, noon, evening and midnight respectively.

To this day, it is common for the wealthy to establish temporary or even perpetual chantries to both pray for their souls, as well as to give back to the community, given that chantry priests and collegiate canons traditionally take on the role of schoolmaster in the local parochial schools when they are not undertaking their spiritual duties.

I'll be honest, I have no idea what half of that means, but I have to say that if your king (Henry V) is also your head of church, your state has a problem. The secular and ecclesiastical offices shouldn't be led by the same body.

Reposting this again

The fact that non-Nords can not become Tongues is a well-documented fact that has been observed for the last four eras. The fact that non-men cannot become Dragonborn is even easier documented -as the idea of the Dragonborn is granted by Shor, as opposed to Akatosh. The distinct difference between the Dragonborn (Dovahkiin, a person with the soul of a dragon that is an earthly manifestation of the Nordic god Ysmir, himself a divine avatar of Shor) and dragonborn (a person under a pledge to Auri-El, Dragon god, that allows them to keep the dragonfires lit by using the Amulet of the Kings) and the fact that the two were one and the same throughout the 3rd era (as every Emperor was actually a Dragonborn, a manifestation of Ysmir on earth) made this very awkward and made academia very confused, because elves absolutely can become dragonborn (they're more likely to be so, given Auri-El is their chief god and not that of men)

WWII Borgovia =/= 2040s Borgovia. Read the lore throughout this thread regarding how it developed from a Corporate Kleptocracy with a racial caste system into a Parliamentary, Cosmopolitan Social Democratic Republic. Even Borgovia's sig mentioned 1950s reforms.

AN:
Perhaps a change in definition due to linguistic and cultural shift is in order? Confusion like that would bring more trouble in the coming days.

Outside of the Origin and Alpha Centauri systems, other star systems including colonies, are consisted mostly of lab-born Humans. Lab-Born means there are donated eggs and sperm carried in colony ships to new habitable planets with automation setting up the first settlement. They are then incubated and raised by a group of scientists, artists, and teachers so when these lab-born Humans reach adulthood, they can procreate naturally.

Because they are technically still Human, they're still categorized as the same species. However, Genetically modified lab Humans, purpose bred for warfare or research, are still in the works and may replace lab-produced Human colonists in the future. Lab-Grown humans make up 40% of humanity's population and the population continues to decline as they continue to naturally procreate in new habitable planets. However, it is inevitable they will evolve into something different given how different star systems have different natural laws and environments, forcing new Humans to eventually adapt. Social Scientists are figuring out how to handle this should we not go extinct in the far, far future.

Nice. Too bad we don't how to lab grow humans.

The most popular Operating System is called Trygore (or TrygoreOS), which features a cute, anime like creature as the mascot. Other then that, it's a 64-bit OS, and is sometimes called Modern Windows XP by outsiders, due to it's similar GUI.
While our flag might have a bow, we are peacemakers and violence will have consequences.

It seems a bit immature for a professional computer operating system to use a cartoon character as a mascot.

More than 35 per cent of Great Nortend's land is set aside as forest or managed woodland. The rest is mostly cultivated fields, pastures, moorland or heath. Urban or built-up settlements make up less than 4% of the land. One of the most popular destinations for tourism in Great Nortend are in the Elps, a heavily forested mountainous region in North Nortend which is known for its 'chocolate box' mediæval villages and towns. Keys, one of the most famous settlements in the region, is known for its walled city including castle, cathedral and abbey, perched upon a rocky 'peninsula' plateau with seven bridges splayed out across the valleys beneath.

What kind of chemicals? How are they still alive breathing in what I assume is cancer-inducing chemicals? More info!

In 13,000 StB, during the alignment of the stars, the Queendom of Ayissor would face off what is known as the Pritali crisis.
The Pritali crisis was an uprising on the central isle of Ayissor, where the queendom (and later empire) was founded, it began near the ancient city of Aruelle, when a group of Pritali followers, whom they believe was the true goddess of sorcery and patron of humanity, attempted to lead an uprising against the current government, whom recognized former queen Allenna as goddess.
The war would split the Isle in two, with the Queendom barely staying intact, losing many of it's lands to rogue Ladies who decided that the Queendom was weak.
Eventually the Pritalii would lose at the second battle of Aruelle, which was their last stronghold, the assault was lead by Queen Harjakt II, whom recently got the gift of "Fallen dragons", and established her own dragon-riding corp, which was crucial to breaking through the walls of the city, by inserting Zavjurah behind enemy lines, those elite warriors would be the most powerful witches in the arsenal of Ayissor, wreaking havoc behind enemy lines and allowing the Ayissoran army to get through the city walls, eventually capturing the city and, with the assistance of Allena, banishing Pritali into the realm of the powerless forever.

Civil wars, especially those fuelled by religious zealotry and bigotry, are seldom pleasant experiences. I’m not entirely sure what outcome would’ve been preferable, but I suppose I can say I’m pleased it ended in a good way.
Although Sasseny is a democratic socialist, humanist society, it is quite ethnically homogeneous. Over 97% of citizens are ethnic Sassens, descendants of the archipelago’s Germanic settlers. Sasseny didn’t become socialist to become multicultural or abolish its borders, but to improve the living standards and lifestyles of all Sassens. Though immigration has increased since the foundation of the Worker’s Republic, Sasseny will remain ethnically and culturally homogeneous throughout the near future.

Assuming population is stable and all economic needs (trained labour, etc) are met, it makes sense immigration won't come if the environment isn't ready for it.

'Young Millennials' (born between 1994 - 1999) were the most 'heartbroken' generation in Borgovia and the world. In this timeline, things feel a lot better in the 90s than IRL 90s, but the 00s were much more pessimistic than IRL 00s.

The 90s saw the peaceful dissolution of the Soviet Bloc. Yugoslavia adopted an EU-esque system that gave its "Republics" autonomy which eventually voted out Socialist Authoritarianism into a more Democratic Socialist society with Capitalist reforms. It's an EU within an EU of sorts. Socialism fell without violence in East Germany, Romania, Albania, etc. Gorbachev didn't suffer a coup and instead, successfully got Belarus and Kazakhstan to sign a pact with Russia to form a flawed, but less repressive government known as the "Eurasian Forum" with Russia inheriting all Soviet nuclear, debt, etc but made great strides to integrate itself into the new era. Vietnam, though Ho Chi Minh lost the war and became a Pro-US, Pro-Borgovia quasi-fascist state whose government and economics is similar to Park Chung-hee of dictatorial South Korea in the 1960s, initiated a "Doi Moi" in the 1980s which relaxed press, speech, travel freedom and now accepts foreign corporations to compete in its market. Vietnam and South Korea developed roughly the same time but since Vietnam's industrialization wasn't as modern as South Korea, Vietnam in the 1990s is Vietnam IRL 2019.

At the same time, Borgovia celebrated its 40th anniversary of dismantling the Corpus Board, a Kleptocratic Council of wealthy elites infamous for their ruthless capitalism. They also celebrated the 30-something anniversary of dismantling the Racial Caste system which places Slavs, Nords, non-Ethiopian/Malian Blacks, etc as 'subhumans'. 30 years after the Nishumura-Shehu Act of 1963, the once oppressed Nords and Congolese in the country have seen a huge decrease in poverty rates in Borgovia. The technology boom of the 90s made most of the world swimming in prosperity. The Gulf War never occurred as Iraq was a Soviet vassal until the 1980s and quickly began its development, copying the Lebanese & Saudi economic model. Saudi Arabia's Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud died before he became reigning monarch. Salman and later his son, Mohammad bin Salman, ruled the country and thus initiated reforms in the late 80s - early 90s instead of the late 2010s. Canada finally joined the Organisation of American States, solidifying the entire Americas into a Military, Cultural, and Economic Free trade bloc with the USA and Borgovia as its twin engines. A massive infrastructure project connecting the whole Americas, through ports, railways, highways, and airport stops alongside the OAS-EU free trade agreement united two economically powerful blocs together. Globalism also accelerated with most major cities across the world, from Lagos to Buenos Aires to New York to Taiyuan, it all feels like the world is finally getting closer. People are seeing each other not as X nationality, but as a singular global citizen that just so happen to have their own unique culture and identity, but a fellow Earth Human nonetheless. After all, what we can't understand in language, we understand through tea or liquor and some kareoke and delicious food. It felt like the 90s was the time of high hopes and optimism.

Then it all crashed in 2001 when Reactionary Al-Qaeda, who are not only Anti-Israel, but also Arab Nationalist in this universe, attacked the Twin Towers. Add that with the global recession, destablisation of the Middle East, the rise of nationalism, Africa's development came to a halt due to ethnic and religious conflicts, refugee crises all over the world, and a new Chinese-Russian-US government that see the world as a hostile place and must revert back to their primal militaristic roots, millennials were children in a time of optimism and were adults in a time of instability, conflict, hate, fear, and environmental degradation. There were a total of 19 major genocides from 2001 - 2019, basically almost one every year, killing a total of 12 million people with the largest one being the genocide of the Uyghurs when the Chinese Communist Party sent in troops to massacre 4 million out of 11 million Uyghurs in an attempt to break them. Ethnic genocides done by racist individuals in the US claimed a total of 270,000 lives and the #MeTwo movement in Germany resulted in several fragile Germans killing roughly a dozen ethnic minorities in late 2018 with a few more committing suicide from the bullying as a result of #MeTwo. Poles and Pakistanis in the UK were also attacked and anti-Slavic sentiment led to several violence in Borgovia after Putin began harassing nearby countries and increased homophobic laws. In Vietnam, the economic downturn due to the 2022 recession led to several attacks on the Ethnic Chinese, Cham, and Cambodian minorities. Nothing got better until the mid 2030s, but Millennials and Gen Z are pretty much 'traumatised' by how quickly things fell apart from the 90s - 2000s.

Opinion:Huh, so it seemed like that the situation was improving in the 90s, and that there finally could be a some sort of peace, but the early 2000s come, and boom - all safety's gone. And as a lot of GenZers would grow up during those period, I assume, that they would also have different opinions on politics. Generation Alpha would have grown up during instability as well (If we define them as being born from 2010-2025), which would affect their opinions too.

Fact time!

''(SC's space expansion AU, a.k.a. the most unlikely scenario. Non-canon, of course! ''Current'' year would be 6030) [1] As a lot of Pax Solaris are still dependent on imports from Earth (Food as well), food has always been a pretty valuable thing, and periods of starvation aren't anything uncommon in Pax Solaris history, as often the planetary force just couldn't feed all of its big populace. However, some colonies were worse-off than others - for example, on one of the most recent colonies (Pluto), food is so expensive and valuable, that it is issued through ration cards, in order to ensure, that the settlers there get enough calories to not fall down, but not much else. However, the underground gambling on Pluto has taken a different turn - often, people use parts of their food rations on ration cards to gamble, in hopes of getting some extra food. However, just like with usual gambling, there is a big risk of losing everything you have - for example, those, who play a lot, can lose not only their part of bread loaf, but their entire ration card, which on Pluto might be very deadly, due of lack of food production methods like greenhouses. However, even the winners often aren't able to satisfy their hunger, or feed their families, as a lot of the lost food rations on cards actually go to the owner of the underground casino, which means, that the owner is the actual winner. Although illegal gambling with money is also widespread on Pluto, it is perhaps the only place, where gambling with food is more popular. (Gambling with food first started between groups of colonists on Pluto after the introduction of food rations, and as a way to possibly get some extra food, but soon organized underground places were formed) However, Pax Solaris is trying to crack on this form of gambling especially hard, due of concerns of such gambling ''depriving nutrients from workers'', and Tom has condemned it many times. However, some are still ready to risk, and try to win something in this dangerous game... As for Pluto in general, some of the Pax Solaris tourism companies offer mountain climbing trips to Pluto already, as it has some pretty tall mountains - Tenzing Montes is a mountain group, and peaks can reach as high as 6.2 km, making them the tallest mountains on pluto, and also the steepest, with mean slope of 19.2 degrees. Tombaugh Regio is an another important object for Pluto's tourism, due of its heart shape, and bright surface. It mostly consists from frozen nitrogen, and other ice, and the western basin is called ''Sputnik Planitia'', while the eastern part has more uplands. Tom has estimated, that ''a part of the Tombaugh Regio will be covered in water in case of terraforming Pluto, creating a beautiful, heart-shaped lake, which could bolster the tourism even more''. However, terraforming the Pluto is not going to be Pax Solaris priority for a long time, due of the extreme cold on it - it would need to first figure out, of how to keep the dwarf planet warm. Also, Pluto is considered a planet by the Pluto's administration, while rest of the Pax Solaris still considers it a dwarf planet, which has even led to some tensions between leaders.''

''[2] When arriving on new planets/moons, colonists took many things with them, including the board games. For example, ''Go'' - an ancient board game from East Asia, was taken to the Luna by SC's Chinese, Korean, and Japanese colonists. (Go is a game, where your main goal is to surround more territory than the opponent. Playing pieces are called ''stones'', and there are two colors - one is black, and second is white. Once you place the ''stones'' on board, you can't move them anymore, although you can ''capture'' the stones by surrounding the enemy stones in all orthogonally-adjacent points. Usually the size of board is 19x19, although smaller variants all the way to 9x9 exist, and the game is played on the grid lines. Traditional game set consists from 361 ''stones'', 2 bowls with each color in them, and a wooden floor board with grid lines). After some time, the colonists from planets/moons were allowed to participate in international Pax Solaris tournaments, which previously were reserved only to Earth's inhabitants. There, a lot of them showed talent, and beat the grandmasters from Earth in the first tournament. By 6030, Luna is one of the places popular between Go players, and chess is actually less popular there. Speaking of chess, situation is kind of similar there as well - a lot of the chess grandmasters from Martian State have reached high ranking in the Pax Solaris chess ranking system, as there were various skilled chess players between the colonists of Mars, and it had strong chess traditions. Meanwhile, checkers are popular on Ganymedes - one of the Jupiter moons, but backgammon (Or Nardi in Russian) is popular on Pluto.''

Interesting. A game very similar to 'Go' is known as chequers here, which is distinct from draughts (also known as chequers/checkers in some country). Chequers uses a 17x17 grid but otherwise is identical to go. It is believed to have come to Great Nortend from Asia in the 16th century.

There is no separation of church and state in Great Nortend. One feature of Erbonian public life is that school assemblies are required to be held daily in the school chapel (typically sharing the parochial church). Assemblies are normally held in the context of Mattins, or morning prayer; however, some schools hold it during Nones, or noon prayer. Any school notices or announcements in either case are said right before the Preces and Orationes.

In keeping with the tradition of the established Church of Nortend, school assemblies are chaunted in plain or figured chaunt. Often, the school will have a choir of boys to supplement the male voices of any school masters and singing clerks as well as the parson, curate and any chaplains attached to the church or school.

Chapel, as school assemblies are usually called, forms part of the religious education of an Erbonian school pupil. Both Mattins and Nones, as provided throughout the week, include scripture readings, hymns, prayers, three psalms, homilies and responsories.

An excellent way to keep the populace sane and moral. Good to know there are nations who aren't going crazy by coming up with systems other than what God has given, or worse - pretend He doesn't exist.

The current flag used in this account is actually the 16th design made. The first design, uploaded in the first iteration of Amenria in 2012, features a phoenix and a dragon on a yin yang in the middle with a white background and black rays not unlike those seen on the Imperial Japanese flag around the central circle. The next one uploaded was exactly like the Imperial Japanese Navy flag, albeit with black rays instead of red ones and a black dragon in a white circle inside black one. This flag persisted until Amenria makes an appearance on NS, but was changed mid 2017 because its similarity to the Imperial Japanese Navy flag was too offensive (strangely, flags relating to Imperial Japan are not banned on the site despite being much more offensive than Nazi flags). The other thirteen designs didn't make it to the internet simply because RMD thought that none of them are good enough to upload.

The Flag of Imperial Japan is nowhere as offensive as the Nazi flag, but whatever.

As of 2019, three major economic ideologies dominate the world. The first is the Welfare State which nearly dominates Continental Europe. There are different versions of it, spanning from the Scandinavian model ("The Nordic Model") -which takes nearly half of your taxes, but in exchange you will literally never have to worry about anything in your life- to the more "sane" welfare models in North Germany, France, Austria, and -to a lesser degree- Yugoslavia. The latter is the free market model -very very low taxes, economic regulations, and emphasis on free trade with little tariffs- which was originally used by Britain up to the 60s, and is now used by most countries that at some point formed the British Empire. The third is, of course, state controlled economy which is the go-to model in any of the (many) countries that do not follow either the Free Market model or the Welfare State.
