Holy fuck, I am nothing short of absolutely enraged. I made one bad mistake that screwed me royally. I could have finally had my lightsaber. I had the last piece. If only I hadn't asked that stupid fucking Hutt about the Nar Shadaa situation. He was in the room, I figured I could knock out two birds in one area. Now, I'm experiencing a 50-hour length sequence of railroaded content with no end and no Bao-Dur in sight. And most of it is just a mindless killfest again. There are more people in the Jekk'Jekk Tarr and the base beneath it than the Leviathan and the Star Forge put together. The broken narrative is interesting but absolutely devastating to my impatience. This unrelenting sequence of pure gameplay segments is absolutely agonizing and basically wasted my time. I went WAY overtime for today's session hoping for an end just around the corner, but NOPE. I finally had to take a stand and just cut it short, I couldn't keep playing that long.

Crazy thing is, up until this point, Nar Shadaa actually felt TOO open. I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing, the game didn't say a damn thing in the journal. I just spent the entire time aimlessly doing random quests until I finally, randomly came across the person who was capable of launching me into the real story of the planet.

Talk about getting yanked from one extreme to the other. Downright just pisses me off.

Combined with some other gameplay grievances, this experience cements the opinion that's been slowly gaining traction as I've played that the game designers for this game were bad. KotOR 2 is lucky it has such good writing, it hard counters the bullshit.

Deadlines were definitely a problem with KOTOR II, but some of the gameplay design is just flat out terrible. I don’t see how deadlines have anything to do with moments where you randomly have to depend on certain companions without warning or the overly long segments like Bralia mentioned.

While I actually enjoy Nar Shaddaa quite a lot, I understand your frustrations. I know a lot of that enjoyment comes from knowing where to go, what to do and when to do it. If you're having further difficulties, with that sort of thing, or anything else for that matter, I'd be happy to help guide you. Wish I'd made that offer earlier though, because Nar Shaddaa really can be fun, even with the the grinding.

I wouldn't say they're overly long, but I could see an issue with there being too many enemies. I know that's a fine distinction, but I think it's an important one. And, being rushed means that there was less time for beta testing, and implementing suggestions from the beta. Such suggestions could include, for instance, reducing enemy numbers in some areas and warning players of when something would trigger a long segment. I will say though, some of that playing random characters is from the mod, I can only remember 4 instances of such in vanilla, and one of those only triggers if you have Mira.

It was worse than it implies. They didn't have time to fix it or even get proper feedback. I more than any of you hate Dxun Temple, Jek Jek Tar, GOTO's Yacht, and the end game quests.

Oh god, the endgame is just so fucked up in vanilla. It's like someone wanted to create FUBAR: The Game. The mod definitely salvages it, but I still think it's a bit weak.

I've got two pretty reliable guides, actually. Gamebanshee for the nice minimalistic story walkthrough and StrategyWiki for the down-to-the-numbers info on classes and stuff.

Although, I do appreciate the help and will in fact ask a question that neither guide could answer: How the hell am I supposed to fight Visas Marr legitimately, when you first meet her on the Ebon Hawk? This was literally the one challenge that I've faced yet that I truly think that I totally COULD NOT deal with, I had to lower the difficulty to Easy in order to triumph over her. Just like every other fucking enemy in the game, she had a 100% hit rate while I struggle to get in two hits in with a Master Flurry.*

* My other leading criticism of the game so far. The enemy is too fucking accurate. My base stats are admittedly subpar, both STR and DEX are 12, but that's no excuse for being absolutely shit on by every enemy in the game.

You know, I remember that exact fight, and I think I remember cheesing it somehow.

I think I broke her line of sight in such a way that I could just shoot her without her moving.

I also distinctly remember a Nar Shaddaa fight as Atton where I glitched onto a counter and shot at enemies that didn’t know how to get me up there.

I'd need more information on your pc to really gauge the problem. But, if you have such low STR and DEX you really need to make sure you have a high defense, and ideally good vitality, because you're not going to hit often or hard, so you need to be able to outlast opponents. Unless you're playing a caster, which changes things, obviously. It's worth noting that Visas has high DEX, which means she will have a good modifier to hit with her lightsaber, a good modifier to avoid your attacks and a good reflex save, so something like Force Push wouldn't be worth using. So, if you're not a caster, she's going to have a better chance to hit than you, going to do more extra damage than you, and going to have better static defense modifiers than you. If you are a caster, the bread and butter Force Push line is off the table, and she has a good will save too, as I recall. So something like the Force Stun line, which has a fortitude save, would be best, as fortitude is definitely her weakest save. Well, that was wrong. I though she had better wisdom than charisma, but it's the other way around. So, her will save is her worst, though her fortitude isn't great either.

Additionally, if you're LS, Force buffs would be invaluable here, caster or not. The Force Valor line in particular, due to your low physical stats, would be very helpful. Certain upgrades for your armor could also help improve survivability, such as energy resistance or regeneration, and the obvious blanket defense boosts. Additionally, though this is admittedly a bit gamey, you're commitment to the Light or Dark will grant bonuses once your reach max LS/DS points, so playing a stupid good hero or a cartoon villain could help mitigate some of your issues.

Also, maybe I just get lucky, but I usually end up getting help from T3, who comes in with a shield active and just starts blasting her. Doesn't do too much, but it's not nothing. There's also the question of when you're triggering the fight. As I've said, I go to Nar Shaddaa first, and I always trigger it right after fighting off the trandoshan slavers. Which I do after completing just about every other quest I can. I think I'm usually level 12 or higher at that point, but I've not played the game in some time, so I can't recall precisely. It's possible you're triggering the fight at a lower level, and this could make the fight harder for you. Additionally, depending on what your first planet was, you could end up with relatively poor equipment.

You need more dex, weapons with good crits, a good energy shield, and good force rolls

. . . I have a save from imminently before the point of no return. I knew I had that save the entire time last night, but all of a sudden it seems so much more appealing now that the session is over and I reached peak frustration. I'd have to re-do a LOT . . . but I'd have a lightsaber.

Anyway, I went into the save because this is almost certainly very close to the build I had when I fought Visas. It seems absurd to me that I can have so much WIS and CHA and still not be able to use Stasis reliably on Visas. Maybe I just wasn't getting the good Force rolls, like Naz says. Really bad luck. I could swear it was working like . . . 1/4 of the time.

Does Force Stasis count as stun or paralysis? Because it occurs to me that if she benefits from the Force Immunity feats before joining the party, that could really diminish stun chance. I'd think it would just make her immune to stuns (and being afraid), but if you were able to stun her that's not the case.

if you have buffs apply them before the fight. IIRC all buffs applied before the fight will stay active. You should also have a lot of stims too so shoot up like its a Fallout challenge run.

It is done. Finally. A lightsaber. As a result of the highly specialized talents of some of the crew, my saber is already ridiculously strong. The only real improvement it needs now is a better color crystal, green is not satisfactory.

It's pretty but it doesn't look like something a force user would wear. Except maybe a Sith who isn't bothered by the armor's apparent weight.
