THE CHIEFDOM OF COPPER CUPRUM
NATIONAL RUGBY SEVENS TEAM

This is the third time that Copper Cuprum will be participating in the AVBF Sevens. Rugby is the most popular sport in Copper Cuprum, and although rugby league is the more popular code in the Chiefdom, both rugby union and rugby sevens still have a decent following. Copper Cuprum had been long isolated from the international community since it is a small island archipelago located deep in the middle of the Lazarus Ocean, far from any regular shipping lanes since man first sailed ships. The nation was only discovered by the Fleftic Navy in 1914, when they were searching for the daughter of President Rufus Wole Mensah, whose ship was wrecked in the general vicinity of the islands. Arriving in the capital of the islands, they discovered that Chief Zed had made the President's daughter his queen, generating a sudden alliance between the two countries. And Copper Cuprum was also rich in copper, so that was a good thing for Abanhfleft too...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation:
The Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum
Demonym: Copperite
Kits: Initially, the Copperite national rugby sevens team was not supposed to wear any kits as ordinary people know them. Instead they would have played wearing only white loincloths and nothing else. However, in the interests of modesty and compliance with the international standard, the Copperite team has elected to wear a new uniform with alternating black and white hoops and white shorts.
Team colors: Black and white
Style modifier: +1.00 (A balanced team with a slight focus on offense)
Head coach: Count Tumale Boweba (49 y/o, Copper Cuprum)
Notes: It is Copperite tradition to slit the throat of a live chicken before a game and then spread the spilled blood on the field. However, after the Valladar authorities advised the Copperite Football Federation against performing this tradition after local audiences were shocked by this tradition, it has been decided that in place of this tradition, Copperite players will now cut off the head of a rubber chicken before a game and then toss the head around like a hot potato. However, Copperite players will now perform the chicken sacrificing ritual whether or not the other team (or the event organizers for that matter) likes it. The Copperites hope to turn this tradition into their version of the haka.

Alice Bay N7A Squad for AVBF Sevens 5

Under new management, the Alice Bay Rugby Union decided to create a new generation of Sevens. After running the Sevens World Cup with an older generation, the challenge was made clear. Is time to prepare the new batch of players to be exclusively in the 7-a-side game. It's time to make the Crux shine even brighter!

To mark a new start, the ABRU also signed a new uniform manufacturer contract. Valls didn't offered a new set of uniforms for sevens, then Alice Bay moved to another Lisanderian brand, Rebel. The new manufacturer, based in Soria and with a factory in Cape Orion, already produce the uniforms for RUCT side Victorian Rugby, TOP 12 side Sainte Justine Rugby, and Cape Orion Rugby Union in Unions Cup!

Image

For this season, the Crux 7's will be composed by players selected in the team academies and junior teams around the regions. 20 players were selected and they're training in the new National Sevens Academy (N7A), temporarily hosted in Rovers Park Training Centre, Osea. From these twenty, twelve are chosen by the selector Jaden Corbin for each tournament. The selected to AVBF Sevens are:

1 - Prop - Luke Holden
2 - Prop - Mark North
3 - Hooker - Andrew Hamill
4 - Scrum-Half - Levan Matiashvili
5 - Fly-Half - Illo Williams
6 - Winger - Thomas Ioane
7 - Centre/Fullback - Martin Dell
8 - Prop - Koa Ioane
9 - Scrum-Half/Fly-Half - Eden Moss
10 - Hooker/Scrum-Half - Stephan Lafiti
11 - Winger - Lasha Matiashvili
12 - Fullback - Lue Reckziegel

Coach - Jaden Corbin

RP Permissions: No killing, no permanent injury. Consider they're bunch of 18-19 in their first international tournament, and it's a booze festival.

Heating of the Bolgano team

The National team is training for their next game while Carl Peters arrived in a cast

Peters: I went to study and I can play the next day, for now I have to rest

Hollman: Now with the triumphs of our 2 most difficult rivals Abanhfletf and Terre Septrentionale we have the most difficult path to fight for the cup.

Dennis: But at least fight for the plate or the Bowl

Lombardi: Where do you have Dennis head? Here we can easily classify if we continue like this!

Dennis: The match that will decide the classification will surely be against Terre Septrentionale since surely Abanhfletf will win all his matches

Peters: All I want is to classify, and many people are already drunk for so much creveza I will try a little.

Lats: If you use your injury to take advantage of having fun you are crazy, I have the responsibility to replace you so I will most likely be the owner of the entire tournament

Peters: Quiet I'll just ask for one without alcohol and maybe medicinal

Lats: They can believe it is a drug

Peters: Well stop talking and keep training, I'll wait for you at the hotel

The team continues to train until it is their turn to play.

Coach: I want you to go and do an amazing performance and make all Bolgano proud.

New Quomir 14-40 Bolgano

The players take a position on the field while they wait for the opponents' serve, and on the first play, Liovani gets an advantage in the position of the players next to Lats where they managed to make a Trie this last with a score of 7-0 their rivals manage to get an incredible move to achieve the draw, while his partner, Peters was watching the game on television, the team took advantage of doing 3 more Tries with Liovani and the Holbart brothers as well.

Coach: Everything is fine just play the last seven minutes and win this.

Upon returning the rivals were playing with an incredible response, while New Quomir managed to make a Trie and place this 28-14 while Bolgano could not touch the ball but until Liovani got tired of this and managed to recover the ball and run through the band, its speed of 29kmh made it even more difficult for them and to finish it was Trie 33-14 and again Liovani making a Hat-Trick and placing the final score 40-14.

Tonsond: Liovani you spent this game was unbelievable thank you and also Hat-Trick !!

Liovani: Thanks but there is still a match against Abahnfletf

At the Kriegiersien pavilion the triumph over Riysa was celebrated with an extra Brew.

“Most people are convinced of our beer, after the tenth sip. Some, who called our mascot Beerbold ridiculous at first, called it very funny after the third glass. So I call that a success”, said the CEO of Greenbeer Inc. one of the main sponsors of the BMBL, the national team and owner of the pavilion.”

“Since our experienced brewery girls are explaining the beverages to the guests instead our overweight brewmasters, we have even much more people coming than yesterday. We would also like to challenge the players of New Quomir to take a drink before the match tomorrow. If they dare to appear.”

ROSS ISLES 7S DISAPPOINT ON DAY ONE

BURGUNDEN - The Ross Isles national rugby sevens team suffered losses to both Alice Bay and Ouna on the first day of the AVBF Sevens tournament. The national team narrowly lost 28-24 to Alice Bay in the morning, with Neuhannover fly-half Julian Seidel providing the bulk of the points, as well as scoring a try late in the second half, giving hope to the Ross Isles faithful there present. Unfortunately, the Lions outfit could not pull off a comeback victory in their first match in international competition and the final horn sounded during an exciting attack by the national team, with St Albans winger Nicholas Davidson being heaved out of bounds inside the 22.

Later in the day, the national team faced Ouna, which ended in a disappointing 22-12 defeat despite Port Harrington’s William Lacey crossing for two tries in the standout performance of the match. This would have been a fixture that the Lions had earmarked as a possible victory before the tournament, so the defeat will certainly hit the team hard. Head coach Josef Schmidt quipped “all in all, we have seen some solid performances by the team over these two matches, especially against Alice Bay. William [Lacey] really turned the jets on against Ouna and Julian [Seidel] was exceptional as always. There’s definitely a solid foundation to build on, which we’ll see the result of tomorrow I’m sure.”

Ouna's Boozy Bar Crawl - 2

Postby Ouna » Tue Sep 03, 2019 6:52 am

"I'm just saying, what Matthew Robinson has done for Rugby is about as much as Max Barry has done for NationStates...".

At this point of the late afternoon-cum-evening, the Ounaians find themselves at the Machu Picchu Pub in the heart of bustling Bergunden, New Engollon. The team are now that magical amount of two pints deep, where they are their most brilliant extensions of themselves - smart, funny, attractive - the boys are ready for a great night.

"...The counterpoint found in Bach's fugues were tremendous. I highly recommend going to see the Trawadea Philharmonic Orchestra".

After quickly finishing his pint of Merzefus, Team Captain Jan-Dirk suggests going to the Kriegiersien pavillion within the festival, to possibly hurl insults about their beer. Half of the fold pile out of the bar with him, leaving the others desperately trying to finish their beers they have just managed to get served to them at the busy bar.

In the distance chants about "Lock up your daughters Kriegiersien" cut through the Alpine air.

Left behind, Lars Woerdman tries his hand at a quiz machine...

Questions come up thick and fast, all in a language he's never heard of called Frandit.

He sees mention of Ouna in one of the questions alongside the word 'Merd', which Lars took to mean really good.

He finishes his drink in his own time, enjoying the strange music playing over the speakers in the same language, and heads into the festival.

Bolgano 21-31 Abahnfletf

Without a doubt the players before starting the game had a hope to win the best team of this group, Abahnfletf, in the beginning and the Abahnfletf team managed to make 2 Trie with perfect conversions 0-14 finished the first half and it was the The first time the team failed to score in the first half.

Lombardi: It is better that we look for a way to overcome this if we do nothing, we will not hire from here in an instant

James Tinow the coach of Bolgano told them a strategy to reverse this story we will only see what happens

The second half has already started and Bolgano will achieve a Trie with Wilson Seets and place the score 7-14, Thomas Dennis and Franco Lombardi also reached the Trie but although they already tied 21-21 the Abahnfletf team will be able to make a Trie 20 seconds from the end and with a well-made 21-28 conversion and happened in the last play they provoke a Penalty and instead of throwing it towards sphere to win they decided to kick the sticks where they got 3 more points and 21-31 was the end of this match.

Illinois: So close we were to beat them or at least draw them

Lombardi: Beating them is almost impossible since we are a good team is our first international experience so we better work in Terre Septrentionale that match will be the one that will decide who qualifies to fight for the cup

R. Holbart: Well, we are leaving this day, I end tomorrow, we return

Lombart: Before we go to the hotel we go for some beer this festival will not end yet

After the 35-12 against New Quomir Scorpion Brew took over the Kriegiersien Pavilion.

“As most of the Girls working for Greenbeer Inc. have disappeared with players from Ouna anyway, we are proud to present our newest brew with our automatic bottling and serving system, as no one wanted to work with our lovely scorpions. Some people say it is not hygienic to have them run around our great drink”, said the Zoo director and founder of Scorpion Brew, Samantha Scorpion.
“I can neither deny nor confirm that our new brew, Black Scorpion, has Scorpionblood as secret ingredient. But it is ridiculous to claim that we will try to send our cute beasts to stab the players from Abanhfleft to death, just because they appeal absent recently”, she added.

Terre Septentrionale beats Riysa

Burgunden, Neu Engollon - After losing 31-14 against Abanhfleft, Terre Septentrionale beats Riysa 28-12. The game started well for the Nordiques who scored a try at the 1st minute when Olivia Fouquet escaped all the way to the end zone and the score was 7-0. Terre Septentrionale increased their lead at the 3rd minute when Przemyslaw Zblewski picked up the ball in a ruck and passed to Dustin Donnelly who passed to Grace MacGuire who ran to the end zone. The score was 14-0. Riysa retaliated right away, at the 4th inute, whith a try by M. Ayyubi and it was 14-7 Reprezentacja Nordycki. Terre Septentrionale increased their lead at the 7th minute when Autumn O'Flynn crossed the goal line and touched the ball down for another try. It was 21-7 at the halftime.

Riysa started off the 2nd half on the right foot when O. al-Mohri scored a try at the 8th minute but they failed the conversion and the score was 21-12. Ouna's Boozy Bar Crawl - 3

Postby Ouna » Sat Sep 07, 2019 2:38 am

After being barred from the Kriegiersien pavillion, the boys - with the Kriegiersien girls in tow - head to the center of Confederacy Park to see Royalists headline set.

"You have the face of Beerbold, and the body of Conrad Gemmel." Coen tells one of the girls. Flirting is a little bit unusual in Ouna, and they have had numerous ales at this point so nothing is coming out right. "You'd make a good Hooker."

At this point of the night, the only people more embarrassing than the Ounaians were the Solenians.

"Damn Solenians!" moans Jan-Dirk Klocht as he spots the Pacific Islanders across the park - spitting on a Neu Engollon schoolchild.

He leads his team away as to not begin a fight and down to the Main Stage.

Following the performance, the Ounaians have now lost the attention of the girls as what began as a women's-only mud wrestling contest deteriorated into the boys doing the worm and then having a game of rugby against The Ross Isles, only without the ball.

Tired and muddy, some of the boys head back to the hostel. While the rest decide to search the back streets of Bergunden to look for a dive bar which will allow them entry.

Terre Septrentionale 24-12 Bolgano
The dream seems to have ended for Bolgano since for them this was the game that defined everything, sadly they stayed behind in the game

The match began and already in the 2 'minute of the match Terre Septrentionale started and scored a Trie 7-0, the Bolgano team with Lombardi achieved a Trie but the rival team managed to make 2 more Tries before the 19-7 partial break.

Tonsond: It can't be, at this rate they'll send us to play

D. Holbart: Better calm down for this you have to have good confidence to move forward

Already in the second half they managed to make a Trie, D. Holbart, but they failed to converge 19-12 but the Terre Septrentionale team managed to make a Trie but also failing 24-12, when the final whistle sounded the Bolgano fans lost their time.

But there is still a chance, that Terre Septentrionale loses his next game and that Bolgano won it that way, unlike Bolgano scores, he can pass the round.

After the loss against Abanhfleft (14-20) the coach of Kriegiersien only known as “Angry shouting man” was a bit disappointed.
“That Scrabblenation has a very expressive style. They are not communicating much, but you get beaten by their pure presence in the game. Or maybe brutality.”

Barney Stealson, talented All Star Player, had to experience that personally. Even the magic mix of Beer, Rum and Schnapps (BRUS) with Mistletoeflavor from actual occupant of the Kriegiersen Pavilion, Magic Brew, couldn’t get him up.

“He may never be able to play again. At least not in this tournament”, growled the coach.
“Against the Nordiques from Terre Septentrionale, who won against Bolgano, now a decisive victory and help from other teams is needed to stay in the cup. But we have survived worse situations”, the coach remembered, addressing the Olympic group stage again.
“At least we have to win for a good start in the Plate division.”

The boss of Magic Brew, 92 years old Pano Ramix, stated:
“People who say that our drink has illegal Supersubstances in it are totally wrong. You see, Stealson wasn’t ‘raised from the dead’, not very magic. It is just a powerful, healthy help and tasty. And you can see that our team, the Magic Brew Boys, won their division in the BMBL, also thanks to BRUS.”

“Good evening, Neu Engollon and our international viewers, I’m Karl Demais and this is my co-host, Magda Wertauer. You’re watching special coverage of the Alpen View Brew Festival rugby sevens. Also known as the fifth edition of the AVBF sevens…”

“Karl, were back again. And rugby is exciting again!”

“Well...I don’t know about…again...”

“Again, we get to be excited about rugby! Coming off an exciting season of the AVRU where the Burgunden Brawlers took the trophy, then they took the top spot at this year’s edition of the RUCT, beating last year’s champs, the Saracens of Lisander.”

“It really was an epic year for a Brawlers come back, Magda. They had Alex Renvier at the helm, the former outside center for the Geneva Gargoyles turned coach. He has done an incredible job of turning that team around.”

“There was a lot of friction with the old coach, Dietrich Koerzbach, and several players. A lot of Burgunden fans were quite upset with some of the past AVRU seasons.”

“Koerzbach had the backing of the owners, the Toft family, and the budget that franchise had to bring in players, both the top collegiate drafts, trades and top foreign club players like Apoxians Marshall and Jones, and that incredible Buyanese fly half, Ardi Banaszek. Still, many would say he managed to muck it all up the last few seasons despite everything going for the Brawlers with loose team cohesion and bad strategies on the pitch…”

“Whatever the case, it was some bad times, Karl.”

“Moving forward, we’re here today, the second day of the AVBF and the Goats, a few of them from the Brawlers, as well as other top AVRU squads, are one of the few teams that have turned in a win for every group match so far. We’re going into the final group match this afternoon, the fifth one. Another reason to be excited about Neu Engollian rugby.”

“The most difficult match was the yesterday afternoon match against the Irises of Lisander, the most challenging and anticipated match of Group C. The Goats squeaked one out with a two point edge over the Irises at the final whistle. The next match against Geektopia was predicted to be a blowout, but coming from the Lisander match and very little down time, the Goats were only able to get a 12 margin win - a converted and unconverted try, over the Geektopians. Ultimately, a win is a win and they could rack it up for points. This was also the last match of the day, and the Goats walked a thin line yesterday evening of maybe celebrating a bit too much, that victory over Lisander.”

“There definitely was some worry that they would not be ready for their first match today against Solenial. Those fears were, as we saw, unfounded. They again turn out a scoreline of 31 to Solenial’s one unconverted try. Hopes are now on them for this last match versus Kandonica.”

“Never underestimate the ability of the Goats to muck it up, Magda. Jean Semmes has been a great coach for the Goats, but there’s something about Goats luck that fans know leaves that door open for disappointment.”

“Let’s not go the route of Jean-Marc from the Geneva Gardel...Did you read that doom and gloom piece?”

“I did. What a piece of trash. No, I think we have more hope than our colleague over at the Gardel seems to. We both know Jean-Marc well and consider him a friend, but sometimes he takes it too far.”

“He probably thinks the same of us. We’ll be back with live coverage of the fifth and final group stage match of the 2019 AVBF Rugby Sevens. Stay tuned viewers and enjoy this sponsor break.”

Plate confirmed - Ouna

Postby Ouna » Sun Sep 08, 2019 4:31 am

"We've made it to the plate boys!" exclaims a hungover Jan-Dirk to his team-mates.

"Not so loud Janny, we're dying here." one responds.

The team have had a busy few days in Bergunden, however have done respectfully for being freshmen and their persistent hedonism. They have racked up three wins and only really struggled against the seeded teams. Ultimately, a very successful group stage for the lads.

Jan-Dirk ponders, 'Perhaps there is something in the water here?'. And by water, he means the water that goes towards making the beers.

Despite their antics on the opening night, the rugby has been quite impressive by the Ounaians. The sevens format has suited their play well as the swathes of open pitch plays into their long passing style directly.

Making use of Bas Slettenaar's blistering pace, the team have caused issues against most of the teams they have played against. And only the more experienced heads on the Rugby Sevens pitches were able to formulate a plan to pin the team back.

The first day of the campaign were games against Danurbia and then The Ross Isles. The latter game being the more prominent challenge. The sky blue Ouna team triumphed in both, with the second game being neck and neck until the final quarter when - a try ahead - Ouna managed to gain possession and a gutsy super kick by Hein Meddejonge sailed through the posts cementing them at the top of the group and defeating arguably their biggest rivals for the plate.

What Day One gave to Ouna in optimism, Day Two was the exact opposite. A plucky performance against the 5th best ranked team in the tournament, Darmen, at the end of day one saw Ouna simply run out of time as a vacillating game meant Darmen were always one try ahead with Ouna playing catch up. The disappointment must have ran into Day Two, and shows a serious flaw in the character of the team, as they tumbled to Alice Bay in their most humiliating defeat of the competition.

A change of system for the final group game against Buevos Aires meant that a few fresh legs helped push through a modest victory for the Rastas. Possibly resting his best players, Head Coach Jan Habana benched his usual starting backs. The replacements however seemed to impress and may impose a dilemma on Habana going forward in the plate.

They face off against Khazuul next, who are a relatively unknown side (although the same could be said of Ouna). The team have the same form record as the Rastas, however I expect the Ounaians to just nick it - judging from their more active approach at the festival i.e. taking part in the activities and embracing the lifestyle. It is a small advantage but one they will hopefully maximize in the game.
