I agree with AHSCA. Much worldbuilding, including possible retcons of it, can easily be developed throughout RPs - not only social media, but also occasions like this one. Make an educated guess as to how I actually shaped this nation (and not only this one). ^^
Also, don't worry about joining RPs at an extremely early stage of your nation. Even though Lillorainen was already about a month old when I signed up for my RP debut (which I know quite many of you guys from - #RememberCullyburgh2018), I hardly had any time to develop a lot of it (let alone the routine I have today) - up to that point, nothing but the country's rough shape, the names and rough location of the twenty largest cities, and a very rough framework of the Federation's political system and very basic rights and laws existed. The lad I sent in was just the second Lillo-Character ever created. In fact, a certain conversation in that RP brought me to the idea to make the Norse Pagan faith become a (big) thing in Lillorainen - today, Lillorainen would be practically impossible to imagine without it! ^^ Thus, I was thrown into this RP without any remote plan, for I spontaneously signed up, and one day later, the IC was up, so all I could do was just jump in and hope it'll work somehow. Good old naïve days ... And within these 15 months since the RP which my entire canon starts in without being itself part of the canon, I've gone through a myriad of retcons concerning even basic things about it, and I'm still working at details.
Sorry for letting the length of this one escalate! ^^ I just thought, you should know, that the "heavily WIP" status of Nu Alaska shouldn't discourage you from signing up, quite on the contrary. Don't be shy!

That being said, Nu Alaska, I can only agree with Lillo. Aside from what he mentioned, in RP, you will get more and more ideas as to what direction you want to take your nation into, who they will be looking up down and down upon, political ideologies and blocks and many other things, so my recommendation would be to just jump into the cold water and see what happens!
(And when everything else fails, you can always retcon... ; ))
