What are the media ratings in YN?

[National Yorkshire]

In Yorkshire, media content ratings were set by the EBFC (English Board of Film Classification) until 2040, when they were placed under the jurisdiction of the YFTCS (Yorkshire Film and Television Classification Service). This resulted in the end of Yorkshire having England's age rating system and also expanded the rating system from just film and video

Games
Yorkshire uses the standard pan-European PEGI 3, PEGI 7, PEGI 12, PEGI 16 and PEGI 18

Film/Video/Television
General (G) - This content is suitable for all audiences and contains no notably objectionable material. G rated TV programs may air at any time of day.
Parental Guidance (PG) - This content is suitable for all audiences, although may contain some mildly objectionable material. PG rated TV programs may air any time of day.
Over 12 (O12) - This content may contain moderately objectionable material and is advised for viewing by persons aged 12 years or more. Under 12s wishing to view O12 films at the cinema must be accompanied by an adult. Persons who look under 15 wishing to buy O12-rated content will be asked for ID to prove they are 12 or over. O12 rated TV programs must air between 8:00 PM and 5:30 AM.
Over 15 (O15) - This content contains substantially objectionable material and is advised for viewing by persons aged 15 years or more. Under 15s wishing to view O15 films at the cinema must be accompanied by an adult. Persons who look under 18 wishing to buy O15-rated content will be asked for ID to prove they are 15 or over. O15 rated TV programs must air between 9:00 PM and 5:30 AM.
Restricted 15 (R15) - This content may contain strongly objectionable material and is unsuitable for persons under 15 years of age. Persons who look under 18 wishing to view R15 films at the cinema or buy R15-rated content will be asked for ID to prove they are 15 or over. R15 rated TV programs must air between 10:00 PM and 5:30 AM.
Restricted 18 (R18) - This content contains extreme material and is unsuitable for minors of any kind. Persons who look under 25 wishing to view R18 films at the cinema or buy R18-rated content will be asked for ID to prove they are adults. R18 rated TV programs must air between 00:00 and 04:30 AM.
Explicit (E) - This content contains explicit pornography and is unsuitable for minors of any kind. E rated content can only be sold in licensed sex shops, shown in licensed sex cinemas, or broadcast on licensed sex channels between 01:00 and 04:00 AM. Persons who look under 25 wishing to view E films at the cinema or buy E-rated content will be asked for ID to prove they are adults.
Unclassifiable (U) - This content has been deemed illegal by the YFCTS and knowingly selling, buying, possessing, trafficking, screening, producing, viewing or broadcasting U-rated material is punishable by hefty fines and between 6 months and 10 years imprisonment.

[Gandoor]

There are two separate media rating systems used in Gandoor, one that is used for films and another that is shared between television programming and video games.

Bar a few exceptions when it comes to film and television, all motion pictures, television programs, and video games released in Gandoor must be rated by their respective ratings board and must comply with the usage and regulation requirements by their respective boards.

Both ratings boards are officially owned by the Government but operate independently and the Government does not have any influence over ratings.

Film
Ratings for film are provided by the Gandoorese Film Rating Board, which was established in 1978 and began rating films for release in 1979. The GFRG replaced the Motion Picture Rating Bureau, which was established in 1934 and rated films with one of three ratings:
- A (Approved)
- AM (Approved - Intended for Mature Audiences, created in 1963 due to complaints that the sole 'Approved' status did not distinguish between the intended audience for a film)
- RC (Refused classification, films rated refused classification were not banned but many theaters refused to screen films that were not approved)

The ratings utilized by the GFRB are as follows:
A - All ages admitted. Films rated A contain no content parents will find unsuitable for children.
OA - Older audiences. Films rated OA may contain content unsuitable for younger children.
RA - Restricted audiences. Films rated RA may contain content unsuitable for those under the age of 15.
R20 - Restricted audiences 20+. Films rated R20 contain content unsuitable for those under the age of 20.

The R20 rating is the only rating which is legally enforced, allowing a minor into a showing of an R20 rated movie or allowing them to purchase one on home media is punishable by a fine.

Television and Video Games
Ratings for television programs and video games are provided by the Gandoorese Television and Video Game Ratings Board, established in 1997.

The ratings used by the GTVGRB are as follows:
5 - Suitable for ages 5 and older.
10 - Suitable for ages 10 and older.
12 - Suitable for ages 12 and older, added in 2003
15 - Suitable for ages 15 and older.
20 - Suitable for ages 20 and older.

The 20 rating is enforced by law for video games, selling a 20 rated game to a minor is punishable by a fine.

Usage and Regulations
Film
Documentaries are exempt from the ratings requirement.

On movie posters, the rating must be displayed alongside the short content description, which summarizes why the film has received that rating, at a large enough size for audiences to be able to read the text at a distance of 1.5 metres. It must also inform people that the full content summary is available at the Gandoorese Film Rating Board's website.

During theatrical trailers or Internet trailers, the rating and short content description must be displayed for ten seconds on a sky blue background prior to the start of the trailer. Trailers for films rated RA or above may not be attached to theatrical releases of films rated OA or A.

During television advertisements, the rating of the film must be stated at the end of the advertisement.

On home video releases, the rating must be placed on the front of the packaging. On the back of the packaging, the rating and short content description must be printed.

For any film which has yet to receive a rating from the Gandoorese Film Rating Board, a standard 'This film is not currently rated' text is used on posters and during trailers and television advertisements.

Television
News and most sports programming are exempt from the ratings requirement.

The rating of a program must be displayed in the top left corner of the screen for twenty seconds during the start of a program. If a program lasts longer than a half-hour, then the rating must be displayed again for every half-hour that passes.

On home video releases, like movies, the rating must be placed on the front of the packaging.

Video Games
The rating of the game must be stated and shown for the first five seconds of any trailer or advertisement.

The game rating must be displayed on the front of the packaging with the back also containing the rating and the content descriptor, along with the URL to the GTVGRB's website which contains the full description of the content contained within the game.

For games which have yet to receive a rating, a generic 'NR' symbol is to be displayed during trailers and advertisements, accompanied by a statement that 'The following video game has not yet been rated'.

The Department of Censors rates cinematic programmes and films in order to advise of their suitability to certain groups of people. It is a division of the Board of Information which licenses publications to be printed (imprimatur) or films to be shewn (ostendatur).

RATINGS
O: Universal or general exhibition (omnibus ostendatur)
S: Suggested exhibition only to boys over the age of 12 and girls over the age of 13. (suademus)
R: Restricted exhibition for men over the age of 18 and women over the age of 21. (restringatur)
M: Warning that exhibition is not advised (monemus)
P: Exhibition proscribed (prohibemus)

All films, unless educational, sporting, news, musical or of a religious service must be submitted on tape to the Board of Film, Drews House, Lymgate, with a two week minimum processing period. If approved, a certificate is issued which must be shewn prior to the shewing of the film in cinema. Such a certificate is either an omnibus ostendatur, Latin for 'let it be shewn for all' or a restringatur, Latin for 'let it be restricted (for some people). A film rated prohibemus, Latin for 'we prohibit', may not be shewn publicly.

General films on religion and faith must also pass through the diocesan ecclesiastical censors and receive a nihil obstat and ostendi potest before the Department will issue ostendatur. The Department may for works rated O also issue a suademus, 'we recommend', suggesting that the programme should only be shewn to boys over the age of 12 and girls over the age of 13. Similarly, for programmes rated R, a monemus, 'we advise' may be issued warning that the programme ought not be shewn at all, but does not forbid it like a prohibemus.

Restricted and prohibited exhibition is legally enforced for cinemas but not for private viewing. Advisory exhibition ratings are not legally enforced, however many cinemas enforce them for public decency.

[Aikoland]

In Aikoland, all media is rated by the Bureau of Media Classification (Bureau de classification des médias, BCM), a government organisation originally established in 1966 as the Bureau of Film Classification. The Bureau of Film Classification was renamed to the Bureau of Media Classification in 1995 when the Government announced that the organisation would become responsible for the rating of television programs and video games in addition to film. The BCM began rating television programs and video games in 1996. While Aikoland is a European country, the PEGI ratings were not adopted in 2003 and they have no formal legal recognition in Aikoland.

The ratings used by the BCM are as follows:
- E - Enfants (Children) - Media rated E is considered suitable for all audiences.
- A - Adolescents - Media rated A is considered suitable for ages 13 and older.
- M - Matures - Media rated M is considered suitable for ages 17 and older.
- RA - Réservé aux adultes (For Adults Only) - Media rated RA is considered suitable for ages 18 and older. This rating is reserved for specifically adult-content, such as pornography, only and is enforced by law.

The Rating in Romanian-Slavia are:

AG - General Audience; suitabile for all audiences
AP11 - Parental Agreement; suitable for 11 year old and older or younger with parental agreement

AR20 - Reserved Audience II; suitable for 20 years old and older
AR× - Reserved Audience III; suitable for 20 years old and older only with government agreement

[Radiatia]

There are no rating systems at all in Radiatia.

There was an attempt by the state of Vatfer to introduce a ratings/censorship system to prevent violent films, television and video games falling into the hands of minors. In an unprecedented move, the state government was sued by a video game publisher and the case made it to the Supreme Court.

In the landmark ruling, Xika Games vs. The State of Vatfer, the Supreme Court sided with the former, stating that censoring or rating media for any reason other than national security, including having an age-based rating system, conflicted with Radiatians' constitutional right to freedom of expression.

They also ruled that an age-based rating system was unnecessarily discriminatory on the basis of age (ageist).

[Vallermoore]

Exempt-Nature documentaries and the like that are exempted from Classification.
U-Universal, anyone can see it.
PG-Anyone can see it but it might scare 5 years old or under.
15-Has violence and/or sexy scenes. Meant for 15 years old and above, but only enforced in cinemas.
18-Is very violent, very sexy or pornography/execution vids. Meant for 18 years and above only.
Banned-contains graphic rl torture/murder, child porn, or is that Micheal Bay Decepticon film. You can get jailed for watching it for anything from a few days to several years depending on how serious it is.

[New Rothera]

Age ratings are set by the New Rothera Media Standards Agency, and are required for any film or video game released in New Rothera.

Film ratings
G (General viewing) - Suitable for all audiences.
PG (Parental guidance) - Suitable for all audiences, but very young children should be accompanied by an adult. May contain moderate violence and very mild swearing or innuendo.
13+ - Suitable for persons over the age of 13. Children younger than 13 can attend cinema viewings if accompanied by an adult. May contain violence and limited amounts of swearing and sexual references.
16+ - Suitable for persons over the age of 16. Children younger than 16 cannot be admitted into cinema viewings of or purchase films with this rating. May contain graphic violence, strong swearing and sexual references, and tasteful nudity.
18+ - Suitable for persons over the age of 18. It is illegal to allow a child younger than 18 to view a film with this rating. Can contain unlimited amounts of violence, swearing and non-pornographic sex scenes.
X (Restricted) - Suitable for persons over the age of 18 and only available in licensed establishments. Generally only given to hardcore pornographic material.
Films are generally only refused classification if they contain gratuitous or sadistic violence, or promote messages of racial or religious hatred, or genocide denial.

Age ratings for video games follow the same basic guidelines as those for films, although there is no PG or X certificate. There are no age ratings for TV shows, as adult programming is only allowed from the 9:00pm watershed until 4:00am the next day. During this time of day there is little censorship of content, but outside of this time all programmes must be family-friendly.

[Ausonia-09]

Ausonia has three classification systems (one each for film, television, and video games), with one overarching agency supervising it: the Media Supervision and Classification Union (Syndicat de la surveillance et de la classification des médias or SYSUCLAM) in the country. SYSUCLAM started classifying films and television by the 1980s, and then moved into video games in 1998.

SYSUCLAM is a self-regulatory organization comprising all media corporations and public organizations in the country, though the federal and provincial governments exercise some oversight.

With numerous exceptions when it comes to film and television, all motion pictures, television programs, and video games released in the country must be rated by their respective ratings board and must comply with the usage and regulation requirements by their respective boards.

Generally, SYSUCLAM bases its rating on the following components:

Film
SYSUCLAM provides ratings for films with a standard established in 1975 and implemented in 1976, replacing earlier standards set by the Ausonian Film Commission (Commission du film ausonienne or CFA), which had been established in 1933. These are as follows:

NC (Non classés, Not Classified) — Typically used by all media before given a formal rating (with some exceptions)
AG (Audiences générales, General Audiences) — Generally approved without age restrictions; does not contain any objectionable content.
SP (Surveillance parentale, Parental Supervision) — Has some objectionable content; may be unsuitable for younger audiences.
R13 (Restreint-13+ ans, Restricted-13+ years) — Generally contains content not suitable for people under the age of 13.
R16 (Restreint-16+ ans, Restricted-16+ years) — Generally contains content not suitable for people under the age of 16.
PPE (Pas pour les enfants, Not for Children) — Generally contains content not suitable for people under the age of 18. This category is legally enforced, whereby allowing a minor into a showing of a PPE-rated movie, or allowing the purchase thereof in home media is punishable by a fine.
X — Generally banned from public viewings because of content considered too extreme to warrant a "PPE" rating (usually extremely pornographic films, snuff films, and the like). Like the PPE rating, this is also legally enforced, and any public showings of an X-rated film is punishable by a fine.

Television
SYSUCLAM was largely the result of a merger between the CFA and the Federal Television Standards Bureau (Bureau fédéral de normes de la télévision or BFNT; established 1961) in 1973. SYSUCLAM then used the old BFNT ratings system until a new standard was introduced and implemented in 1997.

E — Generally intended for children under 8.
E8 — Suitable for children ages 8+
AG — Suitable for general audiences (ie the entire family)
SP — Some content may not be suitable for children under the age of 8. Parental supervision is recommended for children aged 8–13.
R14 — Programming intended for viewers ages 14 and older
PPE — Programming intended for viewers ages 18 and older. Cannot be shown outside the watershed period (typically 00:00 to 6:00)

Video Games
As video games came into prominence in the 1990s, SYSUCLAM introduced a new standard for video games around the same time as the new television standards. They were adopted in 1997.

NC (Non classés, Not Classified) — Used in promotional materials for games that have yet to receive a rating.
PE (Petite enfance, Early Childhood) — Games which are directly aimed at children (primarily preschoolers). Does not contain content that parents would find objectionable to this audience.
G (Généraux, General) — Contains content "relatively suitable for all ages".
G10 (Généraux-10+ ans, General-10+ years) — Introduced in 2003 after some debate. Generally has content more intense for the "G" rating, but not high enough to warrant a "R" rating.
R (Restreint, Restricted) — Generally includes content not suitable for those under age 13.
AM (Audiences matures, Mature Audiences) — Generally contains content not suitable for people under the age of 17.
PPE — Contain content not suitable for people under age 18, with content with an impact higher than the "AM" rating can accommodate. This is the only category legally enforced, whereby selling a "PPE" game to a minor is punishable by a fine.

Films

  -An on-screen DOG displayed at the top-left corner for twenty seconds during the start of a program.
  -A full-screen pictogram advisory (similar to such found on film and video game trailers) accompanied by a description of the content before the start of a program. This would last for ten seconds (for E to SP-rated shows) or twenty seconds (for R-14 and PPE-rated shows). TeleCinq is the only television network that regularly uses this.
  
  This must be repeated for every half-hour that passes, if the show lasts more than a half-hour.
• Like movies, home video releases must be placed at the front of all packaging.

Video Games

• For video games that provisionally receive an NC rating, the standard phrase "This game has not been rated by the SYSUCLAM." ("Ce jeu n'a pas été évalué par le SYSUCLAM.") is to be used on all advertisements (trailers, TV adverts, etc.).
• The rating of the game must be stated and show for the first five seconds of any TV advertisement, or the first ten seconds (similar to film trailers) for any Interner trailer.
• The game's rating must be displayed on the front of the packaging, along with the description of the content and a URL to SYSUCLAM's website containing the full description in the back.

TS(Tamzo Sanusti, All ages)-Suitable for all audiences. Includes most documentaries.

PR(Padirik Rinamiyi, Parental Guidance)-Parents advised on content. May not be suitable for younger children.

PR-12-May contain including mild violence, mild/infrequent profanity, and mild/discreet sexuality. Not recommended for children under 12. Some "societally destructive behaviors", such as drug use and excessive alcohol consumption may appear, but it must be in context

B/M(Bamilig/Misvurat, Mature/Advisory)-Moderate violence, frequent stronger profanity( sexually related, such as the F-word, must be limited or in context), discreet(but less mild) sexuality in context. Other societally destructive behaviors(in addition to the aforementioned ones), such as fornication, may appear, but they must be implied and in context. Documentaries covering more intense subject matter may be rated this. Not recommended for audiences under 16.

B/N(Bamilig/Nezridu'ul, Mature/Restricted)More intense violence, frequent profanity(including the F-word, and not necessarily in context), discreet sexuality. Societally destructive behaviors may be shown as long as they are not endorsed(this has led to many foreign movies and TV being edited in order to get this rating). It's illegal to sell these movies to people under 16, and people under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to see them in theaters. May only be shown on TV between 10 PM and 6:30 AM.

N-18-Realistic and extremely graphic violence, obvious sexuality(must not be overly gratuitous), societally destructive behaviors allowed. If in theaters, individuals under 18 will not be admitted. Must be 18 to purchase.

X-Pornographic, and subject to vice laws including taxes and restrictions on sales. Must be 18 to purchase.

K(Kashmanul-Forbidden)Banned. Distribution is punishable by a sentence to a re-culturing facility not to exceed 15 years.

Video games

Rated by the Interactive Media Regulations Division. All ratings with an N are restricted to their age and above regarding advertising and sales. 18NX games are subject to vice laws, and are banned from digital sales.

If one would prefer to experience a piece of media while in the K-Sphere, one may.
If one would prefer not to experience a piece of media, one has the choice not to.
If one would prefer to wish to experience a piece of media but to be unable to for mental development reasons or otherwise, civilization reenactment communities and the like have countless rating systems in place; one may simply hop around the larger emulated worlds until reaching a suitable one. (This last option is frequently encountered by those who've wiped their emulation awareness and are experiencing standard civilizational lives.)

Naturally, the K-Sphere has drawn a substantial amount of critique for allowing sophonts to indulge in violent, sexual, or offensive pursuits without age- or maturity-based limitations; the standard response is that if one finds oneself scarred or upset by what one has chosen to witness, an emotional reset to a backup is entirely on the table and can be done at no harm to one's own mind.

[Thermodolia]

The Federal Ratings System covers television, movies, and video games. The system is run by the Federal Telecommunications Administration. Unlike other systems and ratings in other nations these ratings are guidelines only and have no legal force, however all television shows are required to show the rating at the beginning of the program.

NR - Not Rated: Newscasts, general tv shows
GA - General Audiences: Educational shows & games, and child shows, movies, & games
A - Adolescents: Shows, games and movies targeted at adolescents
M - Mature: Shows, games and movies targeted at mature audiences
R - Restricted: These are shows, movies, and games that have been banned. (This is the only rating that holds force of law)

[Saarkon]

Films

Saarkonian Ministry of Culture issues for every published film (except N-rated films, see it below) special Certification License. License contents short description of film and film's Certification Rating. There are 5 CR's in Saarkon (N-rated films don't receive CR officially).

CR0 - Everyone (Alline/Kazhdy). Film doesn't contain realistic violence (but can content cartoon-style violence), drugs mention and any sexual content.
CR1 - Teens (Tens/Podrosly). Film doesn't contain much violence, detailed sexual content (sex mention and partial nudity are allowed) and doesn't praise drugs.
CR2 - Adult (Adulte/Polnevozhrastne). FIlm doesn't contain ultra-realistic violence and pornographic content. Citizens under 16 can't watch in cinemas, buy or rent these films (foreigners can).
CR3 - Adult Only (Adulte Exclusivo/Edzne dle Polnevozhrastne). Film can contain any content except law-forbidden (propaganda of racism, sexism etc. is strictly banned). Citizens under 18 can't watch in cinemas, buy or rent these films (foreigners can't too).
X - Restricted (Resrado/Zaprečne). Film contains illegal content. It can't be screened in public places or sold (these actions will cause fines), but can be legally stored or watched.
N - Not Rated (Non-Reitado/Neocenevbyl). This film wasn't rated. Creator of any film can reject Ministry's issue, but it will be treated like X-rated film. Radical Civil RIghts Movement (RCRM) activists often reject Ministry's issue in sign of protest.

TV

Saarkonian Ministry of Media marks every TV show with special rating. There are 3 TV ratings (TVR) in Saarkon.

There are no government mandated media ratings system in Jerbasa, although most film and television producers have their own ranking systems.

Cronica has a national standardized system that includes video games, films, TV shows, and various other media, created and mandated by the Entertainment-Einschaltquoten Gesellschaft von Kronika (EEGK) (Entertainment Ratings Association of Cronica). The government organisation, EEGK/ERAC, was established in the 1990s and replaced the Film and TV Communications Board, rating virtually all forms of media. Its management is divided into several departments, such as the TV & Radio Ratings Department, Film Ratings Department, Video Game Ratings Department, and so on.

The organisation itself is self-regulating and operates with some government oversight. If the parliament sees it fit, it can overturn a rating for a specific game/TV show/film, although it's a rare occurrence.

Ratings do not have legal binding and do not come with fines. Many dispute the organisation's authority, whether more or less government should be involved. Since its inception it has made reviews of content independent of entertainment companies. Specific online media such as independent/user created videos, webcomics/manga, and other alike are not reviewed by EEGK/ERAC, and instead requests companies to self-regulate.

Content descriptors
Ratings are described by these descriptors:

• Cartoon/Fantasy/Mild Violence - Content contains violence distinguishable from real life, and is not suggesting harm done towards another person.
• Crude Humour, Minimal use of Strong Language - Content contains mild and/or moderate use of profanity & toilet humour.
• Suggestive Humour, Comic Mischief - Content contains dialogue involving slap-stick or mildly suggestive humour.
• Intense Language - Content contains use of heavy profanity, and/or frequently uses profanity.
• Mild Sexual Imagery - Content does not show explicit sexual imagery, may contain partial-nudity.
• Intense Sexual imagery - Content contains strong, explicit sexual imagery, containing full nudity.
• Drug References, Alcohol References - Content contains suggestions to, or imagery of illegal drugs and/or alcohol
• Drug Use, Alcohol Use - Content contains use of illegal drugs and/or alcohol
• Intense Violence - Content contains realistic depictions of gore, death, mutilation and/or injury and/or death.
• Sexual Violence - Content depicts rape, or other sexually violent acts.

Specific/Special Ratings
In some cases, content rating and content descriptors are not enough to describe the contents of the material. The following are special ratings made in exemption.

• (DK) Dokumentarfilm - Documentaries are exempt from content ratings. Content descriptors may still be enforced, however it is not required.
• (XXX) Pornografie - Pornography is self-explanatory. Content descriptors are modified to include specific sexual imagery.
• (PAT) Patriotisch - Patriotic material, such as propaganda, is legally sold in Cronica. While the label is not required to be shown on said material, the seller must display it with labeling.
• (SATIRE) Satire - Sometimes, less obvious depictions of satirical comedy is misinterpreted as real. Satire labeling is not enforced nor required, however the EEGK/ERAC may overrule and enforce such labeling on a certain piece of media.
• (Verboten) Verboten - Banned media is not legally sold in stores and shops, but they are legally obtainable online.

Cinema

Cinemas use in addition to letter ratings the EKWT system (Ewaluasiyo Komunu Wideo Tiita - Theaters' Common movie evaluation). EKWT is not required to rate home videos, but often does.

Games
Video games use the following letters to describe content. Video games can be rated by any valid organisation, including foreign advisories, as long as the organisation is clearly labeled. In fact most ratings are adaptations of ESRB, CERO, or rarely, PEGI ratings.

[Tornado Queendom]

There are no official ratings, but many companies (INCLUDING Network 5) use a system similar to the ESRB. Many other companies (Like Channel 1 and TQ2) don't use a ratings system, however. If a rating must be put on for international usage, the ESRB-like system is used as a guideline.

[Bagong Luzon]

The Royal Media Regulatory Board classifies TV shows other than news according to three tiers:
G - General Audiences. Media aired on TV that do not contain content unsuitable for children 12 years old and below.
PG - Parental Guidance. Media aired on TV that contains content both unsuitable for children 12 years old and below and requiring parental guidance.
SPG - Strong Parental Guidance. Media aired on TV that contains content unsuitable for children 12 years old and below based on five classifications, viz. Theme (Mature Subject Matter), Language (Profanity and Innuendo), Violence (Guns and Gore), Sex (Nudes and Lewds), and Substance (Drugs, Booze, and Cigs). Prone to censorship on television, but paid media sites allow for uncensored viewing.
The Board also classifies Film Media according to four tires:
G - General Audiences. No minimum age required.
PG - Parental Guidance. Children 12 years old and below may only view when accompanied by a parent or guardian no younger than 18 years old.
R - Restricted. Proof of age is required to view; no persons under a specified age (13, 16, or 18) may be admitted under pain of legal action.
X - Prohibited. Cinemas are prohibited from public viewing under pain of legal action; Film Media given this rating may only be sold to private parties no younger than 21 years old.

[Eiran]

[Yannia]

In Yannia, there's no age-based rating system, but there is a content rating system.

In 1932, people objected to the lack of warning when movies with content that was considered objectionable by almost all viewers were shown. This led to the establishment of the ᛏᚫᚲᚷᚱᚢᛈ ᚠᛟᚱ ᚡᛁᛚᛗᛒᛡᛟᚱᛞᛖᛚᛁᛜ (Tákgrup vór Filmbëórdéliñ - Movie Rating Committee) in 1934, with the sole task to rate movies on their objectionable potential. Since then, movie theaters are required to indicate all possibly objectionable content of the movies they show. Originally this was done with abbreviations, but as those turned out to be confusing, they were soon replaced by pictograms. Moviegoers are expected to make their own decision of whether or not to see the movie.

In the mid-60s, with the introduction of television, the committee was renamed to ᛏᚫᚲᚷᚱᚢᛈ ᚠᛟᚱ ᚠᛡᚱᛗᚫᚲᛋᚾᛇᚠᛡᚱᚺᛇᛞ (Tákgrup vór Vërmáksneyvërheyd - Entertainment Industry Committee) and rated theater and TV shows as well. In the late 80s, as video games with video quality graphics were introduced, the system was expanded to rate video games as well.

Since 2004, distributors are expected to rate their own products, and the committee only acts on complaints.

[Shalotte]

Shalotte has little 'media' to rate, and no formal, government-mandated censorship exists.

The vast majority of the populace has no access to media playback devices of any kind. There is no television broadcast network, nor do most Shalottes have reliable access to electricity with which to power them, and the few radios in the country are used exclusively for emergency, inter-island communication.

Live performances of music and drama are held in various settlements. Public musical events, usually performed by a handful of trained 'minstrels' known as col'tir-daen, play a variety of traditional folk tunes at special occasions around Shalotte, but these tunes include no lyrics. Dramatic plays are also popular, but they are not subject to ratings of any kind. A communal, common-sense approach to content is taken instead - generally with the understanding that if a play is somehow offensive or inappropriate, the performers won't be welcome back to that community in the future.

In Alauna, a handful of enthusiasts have taken an interest in foreign media, and have managed to import some playback devices (mostly old DVD players and small CRT screens) and foreign media to play on them. This is considered a niche hobby, however, one that takes place exclusively in the hobbyists' own homes, and the Gaeltyn takes no interest in censoring it.

So far as print media goes, books and publications like The Islander are not subject to censorship either. It is estimated that only around 30 - 35% of Shalottes can read fluently, and the absence of dedicated printing presses means that most Hebrédan books are manually printed, limiting their availability. The newspaper self-regulates, while the decision to let children access books that might contain content inappropriate for them is left to parents.
