Jalton Superspeedway, Jalton, Saint Kanye
Right after the Pencurve Electronics 500
Inexplicably, Chet Byrd finished second, even with the chicken suit. He had a car that would have won the race, and he very well might have overtaken Skip Stiller for the victory, but Chet learned pretty quickly that it wasn’t easy driving with chicken feet. The feathers flying all over the car also was a pretty big obstacle for him, as well.

While he and Drake Stevenson had enjoyed a very good laugh over parading around the track on a gigantic egg prior to the race, as the race went on, Chet was getting madder and madder about the idea of having to wear the chicken suit in the first place. Fat Chuck Tennyson of Fat Chuck’s Tasty Fried Chicken, Chet’s sponsor, had insisted that Chet would need the suit for a commercial shoot that weekend in Saint Kanye. Were it not for that demand, Chet might have raced as normal. But no, Fat Chuck demanded he bring a chicken suit for a commercial. It was insulting and it was demeaning.

And that’s why Drake had suggested parading around with the chicken suit. He sensed the fans would hate it and whatever Fat Chuck had suggested would backfire, and he was right, it did backfire. But it backfired in a way he didn’t imagine. The pre-race stunt had become a meme in Hapilopper, among other nations. Social media had exploded with the images of Chet Byrd in a chicken suit, Drake Stevenson dressed as a stereotypical farmer, and the giant egg on a tractor parading around Jalton Superspeedway. Drake and Chet had more than made Fat Chuck’s the laughingstock of Hapilopper, they had turned it into an internet meme that spread across social media like a bad virus.

If Chet was pissed off about the chicken suit, Fat Chuck was downright furious. He had watched the race from Chet’s pit wagon, and every time he looked down at his phone, he saw the pre-race stunt mentioned or mocked on social media, and nobody was mocking Drake and Chet. Everyone was mocking him.

It didn’t help matters that Drake Stevenson, watching the race from Chris Holmes’ pit wagon, seemed to heavily imply that Fat Chuck had ordered it.

“You can thank Fat Chuck for the giant egg,” Drake wrote on twii.tur. “That was not our idea. That was all him.”

While team members knew that Drake was lying to everyone, the fans didn’t know, and neither did the media. Nobody outside of Team Blue knew that Fat Chuck was completely uninvolved with the egg stunt, and that it was an outrageous attempt to get Fat Chuck to leave Chet alone and not torment him.

As Chet got out of the car, he was in no mood to celebrate, even though he had just secured his best finish to date. Fat Chuck was walking towards him with a purpose.

“You want to tell me what the fuck this is all about?” Chuck roared at him as he walked to the 73 car.

“Yeah, I’m not your damn puppet,” Chet shouted back. “I’m not doing the fuckin’ chicken suit again!”

Pretty quickly, the Team Blue crew realized that something was not right. The 73 crew had been huddled around their car, along with team consultant Drake Stevenson. Drake radioed to the rest of the Team Blue crews, all of whom had moved back to the garage area, that some assistance might be needed.

“Guys, I need everyone over here now,” Drake said. “Chet and Fat Chuck might be about to throw down.”

In fact, just when the words “throw down” escaped Drake’s lips, Chuck threw a right cross at Chet. Chet responded by throwing a right hook of his own, and pretty soon, the two were fighting on pit road. Fat Chuck Tennyson, the fried chicken magnate of Hapilopper and Chet Byrd in a chicken suit had thrown some bombs at each other, before the two grabbed each other and started rolling around pit road. The rest of Team Blue got there as quickly as they could, to find a pile of people trying to break the two apart, and Drake Stevenson throwing a few punches at Tennyson in the midst of the brawl.

Unfortunately, the world’s cameras were also trained on the fight. It had been the first high-profile physical altercation in the NSSCRA all season, and it involved a guy in a chicken suit and a fat guy who sold fried chicken. It was one of the most farcical sights anyone had seen in modern motorsport, and not surprisingly, social media went alight with memes of the incident.

The Team Blue Shuttle, 35,000 feet in the air between Saint Kanye and Hapilopper
A few hours after the Pencurve Electronics 500
Team owner Ken Henson, however, was not amused. He had called Chet Byrd and Drake Stevenson on the carpet, but he was having a hard time finding the words to express his displeasure. Chet had a black eye. Drake had a busted lip, and for some reason, a chicken feather lodged in his left earlobe. Both were pretty proud of what they had done, even if they had indirectly made Team Blue the laughingstock of the racing world.

Ken looked at the feather and started cracking up.

“Drake, get that fucking feather out of your ear,” Ken said, struggling to keep his composure.

“Oh! Sorry,” Drake responded. “I didn’t even know it was in there.”

“OK, whose idea was this?” Ken asked. “I’ve got a sponsor, someone willing to spend millions of dollars on our team and I think you two just ran them out of the sport. Chuck Tennyson told me you two set him up on this.”

“Look, I’ve got to maintain some level of self-respect,” Chet said. “I don’t want to go around looking a chicken. Maybe this will stop that.”

“Yeah, it DID stop that, because he said he wants his logos off our cars,” Ken said. “Again. And you’ve got internet memes with you in a chicken suit, so I think whatever plan you devised obviously didn’t work!”

“Internet memes?” Chet asked.

“Yeah, there’s pictures all over social media of you in a chicken suit,” Ken said. “Let’s see, on twii.tur, there’s you dancing in a chicken suit, there’s you fighting the fried chicken man, there’s you flapping your wings, there’s you RACING IN THE CHICKEN SUIT?!”

“I didn’t have time to change,” Chet responded.

“Well, did you have it on underneath?!” Ken asked.

“No,” Chet responded. “It was too hot!”

All Ken could do was roll his eyes and just leave the area.

“Chet, I’ve known you a long time, and I’ve known you long enough to say you are a fucking idiot,” Ken said. “I hope you can find a sponsor to replace Fat Chuck, because we’re not funding you out of pocket.”

“Challenge accepted,” Drake said. “Look, I’d not put the heat on Chet, because this was my idea. I think this got a little away from us and it went a little farther than we anticipated. I didn’t know we’d be on television across the multiverse.”

“God damn it, Drake, you know better than that,” Ken responded. “I appreciate your honesty, but if you ever pull off another stunt like that, I’ll fire you. I’m going to personally challenge you to find a sponsor for Chet in the next few days, and it had better be good, you hear me?”

“You got it!” Drake responded enthusiastically.

THE ROCKET REPORT

EZIS HEATING UP

by Brianne Henry,

The early days of Rockii Ezis saw him become a punch line of sorts, with his consistent 20th-place finishes. Sure, it means you are beating half the field, but if you are driving #48, you should a championship contender and not be consistently finishing in the 20's right? Ok, wait, never mind on that, I’ll try again.

It was a transition for Rockii Ezis as well as for his race team when he came here from Vilita and Turori. He had the sponsorship with him, but it was his first consistent opportunity where he knew that he would always be a part of the field, and never had to worry about qualifying in. That was part of it, but then came the next step of getting the crew around him completely in sync. These people never knew Rockii Ezis, and unlike other drivers before a season may begin, there was no off-season for everyone to get acquainted. Ezis also wasn’t coming here as a call up from Newmanistanian racing, but doing so from another country and another region. On the off days, Rockii would need to relocate to a home, even if only temporary in Newmanistan, while trying to stay as close as possible to his loved ones in his real home. Perhaps, that may have worked on him too. Of course, Rocket Motorsports also wanted to pick his brain, to not just make the 48 car better, but for the results to also be seen with the 5 and the 24.

Soon after Ezis arrived, the biggest improvement began to be seen from Bryan Harrison, and not necessarily, Ezis. Harrison has always been the lead driver for Rocket Motorsports, so this was a welcome sight for everyone involved. Harrison would finish third at the Lao Long 380 in The Sherpa Empire, and the team celebrated that result. A couple of days after, Ezis’ crew chief, Cliff Davis, read a comment published on twii.tur, reading, “ Some have argued that Harrison's improvements have come from Rocket Automotive being able to re-focus all the funding that was previously going into the #48 car over to the #5 as CoCoCo is paying the bills for Ezis' #48 Rocket. Meanwhile Ezis hasn't seemed to break out of the transition phase with their new team having posted three consecutive 20th place finishes before breaking the streak with an out-of-form 21st place run in The Sherpa Empire.” Davis called the comment motivating, “It was one of those things you read and gets you fired up. Not like it was bulletin board material or something, or something we would be upset about. It fired me up because I wanted to change that belief, and knew that in order for people to stop thinking that, it was up to me, and not as much Rockii to get that rolling. We’re happy with how Bryan Harrison is doing, but this team is going to be just as strong if I have my way.”

Ezis has since run well, but on a hot day in Jalton, it almost became he as the underdog driver to get into the Chase with a Pencurve victory. Rockii ran with the leaders all race long, but the #3 of Skip Stiller was just way too strong. The “blue trey” was not going to be denied here today, and second place Chet Byrd, who was wearing a chicken suit for some reason (actually, you’ve probably seen the footage by now and the story behind it), was also looking to get into the Chase. For Byrd and Team Blue of Hapilopper, it’s another tough second to swallow. With a just a slight bit of better luck, both the 37 and the 73 could have been chase bound. For Ezis, a fifth place finish is how it goes into the books as. It’s progress.

Postby The Sherpa Empire » Fri Aug 30, 2019 10:40 am

It was a good thing the Sherpa Empire's drivers didn't have much at stake in Jalton, because they weren't especially brilliant and Qiang didn't finish the race.

Qiang was doing fine until a couple hours into the race, he started feeling woozy from the heat. Jalton was having a heat wave, and he might have overdone it a little on the buttery breakfast food that morning. But he was no stranger to hot weather -- he'd worked through some brutal heat waves back home in Guangxi Territory -- and he thought he could tough it out.

He was wrong.

The next thing he knew, he was woken by a hard jolt and the ugly crunch of metal being smashed. There was a spray of debris, and for a couple of seconds the world seemed to spin as his car flipped into the air. He knew it was going to be a rough landing, but it was too late to do anything about it. The car landed upside-down with another jolt and another sickening crunch, then rolled back upright and slid to a stop. The car was completely trashed beyond repair. It just looked like a crumpled heap with smoke billowing out of it and fluid dribbling from the bottom. Qiang had some bumps and bruises, and he was badly shaken, but he was awake now and he knew he was lucky not to get hurt worse. Houzhi Chang was on the radio asking if he was okay. "Ughhh... I'm okay; I just need to lie down and cool off. I passed out from the heat. Get me out of here." He wanted to get the hell out of the car ASAP because he wasn't sure what was leaking or if it was flammable. By now the safety car was on the track and the track crew and medics were on their way over to the wreck.

Qiang waved to the crowd to let them know he was okay as the medical staff walked him off the track. The track crew cleaned up the wreckage and Qiang spent the rest of the race sitting around with an ice pack and a cold drink, trying to convince the Kanyean medics that he didn't have a concussion. They were concerned about how long it took him to remember what month it was -- until he explained that the Sherpa Empire used a lunar calendar and the months didn't line up exactly with the calendar Saint Kanye used.

After the race ended, Qiang was feeling well enough to give a brief interview where he said, "That was scary, and it's kind of embarrassing when you're supposed to be one of the best drivers in the world and you go and roll your car over, but I'd rather have it happen now than during the Chase -- and I'm thankful that I was wearing this and not a chicken costume." He held up the battered blue jacket from his racing suit, making sure to hold it so the cameras caught the Khamdo logo. He grinned when he remembered the comical image of Chet and Drake parading around with the tractor and the egg. He was still a little light-headed from the heat and dehydration, and sore from the crash, but he wasn't in enough pain to stop him from appreciating the humor of the chicken suit incident. "You gotta love the Hapiloppians, though; there's never a dull moment with them."

----֎--֎--֎----

Zakhilwal was the best of the Sherpa drivers in 9th place. He might have been able to finish a couple places higher if his pit strategy hadn't left him pitting for fuel late in the race, and then he didn't have enough time to fight his way back up the field after he came out of the pits. He wasn't concerned about that, though. He was more interested in thinking ahead to the Chase, checking in on Qiang, and trying to figure out why the Hapiloppians were brawling and Chet Byrd was dressed like a giant chicken.

At the medical tent, Zakhilwal playfully ruffled Qiang's hair and asked, "Are you okay, little dude?"

Qiang pushed his hand away and said, "Why do you think it's okay to touch me like that?"

Zakhilwal smiled. "I'll take that as a yes. It's lucky you're okay after a crash like that. Allah must like you."

"I thought Allah was supposed to like everyone?"

"Hmm, yes, but sometimes He makes it more obvious."

----֎--֎--֎----

Wang started aggressively, as usual, but then he got hot and tired and had trouble maintaining such a pace. As the last laps wound down, he was hoping to break into the top 10, even if he couldn't pull off a win, but Cocoabo #78 was giving him a fight and managed to hold him off. Apparently Tropicorp had impressed upon the trained bird that this race was really important to them and she needed to fight for every position, at all costs.

Wang didn't think the chicken suit was funny. He thought about what might have happened if Chet was the one that passed out behind the wheel and had a big messy crash -- and he didn't have Qiang's dark sense of humor. Qiang could recognize the serious safety issue, but still laugh at the ridiculousness of the whole thing. Wang could only do one or the other, and in this case, he was offended that NSSCRA officials had allowed Chet to race without getting changed into proper attire.

"It's bad enough we have actual birds on the track," Wang said in a post-race interview. "We shouldn't be allowing other drivers to come to the track dressed up like chickens. It's not safe! What if it was Chet that passed out and flipped his car over?"

----֎--֎--֎----

On social media, the Sherpa Empire's racing fans joined in the frenzy of Chet Byrd memes.

As well as using the photos from Jalton Superspeedway, some people drew their own humorous images. One cartoonist created caricatures of all the well-known NSSCRA drivers dressed as chickens.

Someone else drew a cartoon of a county fair with a chicken breeding contest, where Drake Stevenson was standing in his Hapiloppian farmer costume, holding Chet Byrd in the chicken suit and struggling under Chet's weight. Kai Qiang was standing beside them in stereotypical Chinese peasant garb, complete with one of those wide cone-shaped straw hats, holding an actual chicken and eyeing the two Hapiloppians with a look that said, Are you serious?

Rain was splattering on the streets of Changsha. Yi Tan's parents, Mingchun Xiao and Kenxin Tan, were watching TV, but not really that interested in it. They found ways to pass the time, but it all felt sort of empty since their son disappeared. The noise from the TV couldn't replace the sound of his voice, and their eyes kept being pulled to the vacant seat on the couch where he used to sit.

They heard a sound coming from the entryway and for moment they thought it was a burglar breaking into the apartment, but then they recognized the bedraggled dripping figure in the doorway. Xiao shrieked with excitement and practically threw herself at her son. "TAN YI!!! OH, THANK HEAVEN!!!"

Yi Tan hugged his mother. "I'm sorry, mom," he said. "I'm sorry I didn't call you. I don't really want to talk about what happened; I just want to come home and forget about it."

His parents were profoundly grateful to have him home again, but they still wanted to know where he'd been. They let him change into dry clothes and they heated up some noodles and tea for him -- but once they had done their bit to make him comfortable, they peppered him with questions. After some prodding, Yi Tan told his parents how he'd seen the talk show rerun where Kai Qiang talked about dropping out of school, and he realized he needed to come home for the new school year.

They stayed up late into the night, so excited to see each other again that they didn't even think about what time it was. Yi Tan's was tired, though. Eventually the excitement died down and he went to bed.

After Yi Tan went to bed, his father called the police to tell them that he'd turned up, and his mother went online to look up the talk show episode. It wasn't anything special really, just some posh Nepalese guy interviewing celebrities at a studio in Kathmandu.

Mingchun Xiao had seen the show before, but not this exact episode. There were some celebrities that seemed to fill the whole room with their loud laughter, wild gestures, and larger than life personalities. Qiang wasn't one of those. He seemed to shrink down into his chair, skinny, gloomy, and shy -- but he had a subtle je ne sais quoi that still commanded attention. He had an accent that sounded like it was meant for shouting across the rice fields in the Chinese countryside, but it was at odds with his quiet thoughtful demeanor. When he said he was embarrassed about not knowing basic chemistry, he sounded like he was actually embarrassed. It wasn't just idle blather like those celebrities that moan melodramatically about how "embarrassing" it is to have their sex tapes all over the internet, but then they go straight home to film another so they'll have something to talk about next week.

Xiao didn't waste a lot of time feeling sorry for celebrities when they told sob stories about things that happened to them before they made it big. She figured the people who really deserved her pity were the ones who never made it. But she could see the sadness in Qiang's eyes, and she was deeply grateful that it had struck a chord with Yi Tan and convinced him to come home.

Kenxin Tan came up behind her and rested a hand on her shoulder. "We have to tell him no more racing," he said.

Xiao shook her head. "No, let him race. Just tell him he has to do it the right way."

They spent a couple of days talking it over, asking Yi Tan what he was thinking when they were at the table eating meals together, debating between themselves when he was out of earshot. But then IRACT took it out of their hands. Yi Tan was expelled from the league. He would be allowed to rejoin when he was 18.

Yi Tan wanted to appeal the decision, but both his parents told him no. He would serve the ban and finish high school, and then he could decide what he wanted to do from there.

Cheng Huang and a couple of street racers in Guangzhou -- who had come forward to try to help the police and Yi Tan's family find him -- got suspended for the remainder of the season with admonishments that it would normally be a lifetime ban, but IRACT was going easy on them because of the circumstances.

It was Tuesday after the Pencurve Electronics 500 and Kai Qiang and Houzhi Chang were at the airport waiting for their flight to Esmerel.

They had spent Monday in Jalton so Qiang could get some extra rest and the Kanyean medics could check him over one more time. Mendok had stuck around bringing Qiang snacks and drinks, nagging him to drink a lot so he wouldn't get dehydrated again, rambling excitedly about how spectacular the crash was, and examining his injuries in a way that made Qiang question if she was really trying to help or just satisfying her own curiosity about other people's suffering. It was nice that she brought him his tea and so on, but her concern would have been a lot more touching if it wasn't interspersed with random outbursts about how amazing the crash was. Mendok was one of those people that liked NSSCRA for the crashes.

Mendok was gone now, since she and Kami had caught a morning flight to Nanjing. Qiang and Chang's flight to Esmerel was a couple hours later, so they were sitting around the airport by themselves. They chatted with each other and with a couple of fans that stopped by to say hi, and they caught up with things online. Chang stumbled across a news item about Yi Tan making it safely home almost the same time that Qiang checked his email and found the thank you note from Mingchun Xiao.

"Oh, hey, Tan Yi turned up," Chang said casually. "That's good to hear."

"Yeah, look at this," Qiang answered, sounding much more emotional. He passed his tablet to Chang with Xiao's email open on the screen. "It kind of makes me feel better about not finishing high school. You know how some people say everything happens for a reason? It makes me wonder about that."

Chang read the thank you note and passed the tablet back to Qiang. "I don't think everything happens for a reason, but it's good that it all worked out. I feel better too, knowing that he's okay."

NSSCRA: FINALLY! A YEEZIE WINS AT HOME
Stiller takes Pencurve; Houston claims reg. season c'ship; Patterson is final Chaser

by Hastur Barreras

JALTON - The Pencurve Electronics 500 at Jalton Superspeedway, St. Kanye. Regular season finale of the NSSCRA (Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association). Known for producing surprise first time winners. At this season's running of the event, it was Skip Stiller taking the checkered flag - quite a surprise, as while he is not a first time NSSCRA winner, he is the first Kanyean in the series to win a race, any race, at home.

Stiller, driving the retro-inspired #3 QED Car Rentals Chadwick, held off Hapiloppian Chet Byrd, denying the driver of the #73 Fat Chuck's Tasty Fried Chicken Preston both a victory and a Chase spot. Sharing the podium with the two is Stiller's Glorious Free Republic Motorsports teammate Thea Alvarez in the iridescent #46 Multiversal Automotive Coatings Chadwick. Alvarez was also third last week in Hapilopper City. Fourth place went to defending champion Stacie Houston of Team Cassadaigua, driving the #27 Five Star Mobile Blaze; the position is enough to give her the regular season championship by two points over GFR's Jeremiah Brooke, who piloted the #18 Hyde Medical Group/Race Against Ligma Chadwick to sixth. Sandwiched between the "Stacemiah" pair is Rockii Ezis in the #48 CoCoCo Rocket, giving Newmanistan's Rocket Motorsports its third straight top five. Completing the top ten are Vilita & Turori Motorsports' Yraaga Gilli'i in the #41 Tropicorp Dart, Hampton Island Racing's Kevin Cosgrove in the #22 Shellshock Batteries car, Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal of the Sherpa Empire in the #06 Mayhem AutoModi, and Ezis' teammate Bryan Harrison in the #5 factory-sponsored Rocket.

"I am of course extremely pleased with this special win", said Stiller. "If anyone can win at a Kanyean track, why not us? I proved I can at the end of this race. It was a team effort. We were racing for pride here. Still need some more consistency in the Chase, I mean at times I run well, but other times I get a mid-pack finish or even worse. And congratulations to Stacie." Stiller, through his crew chief Jackson Cohen, invited Houston to do a burnout with him at the end of the race in order for the 'Dagan to celebrate her regular season title.

"I'm gonna join my teammate Skip in congratulating Stacie", said Brooke. "She won that regular season title fair and square, through consistently good showings. I mean, it's been a tight battle between us some weeks, but that's not new to us. Now we're gonna face each other again in the Chase. This time, she's going down. Kidding. I mean, I ain't gonna wreck her or anything. Let's try to advance by just doing our best, okay? That goes for all sixteen of us." Brooke was also asked for his opinions on Kai Qiang's accident during the later portions of the race, wherein the driver of the #44 Khamdo Electronics TMW rolled his car over several times. Qiang was unhurt and was classified forty-fourth. Comparisons were made between the Sherpa racer's crash and a similar incident that happened to Brooke last season at the Brycline Harbor Road Course in Xanneria. "Yeah, [Qiang's crash] was scary. I thought of my own crash during that time, and was a little worried. But he turned out to be fine, thankfully. The track management handled the situation well, as did the medical staff [provided by Hyde, Brooke's sponsor]. Unlike at some other tracks."

Since Stiller is already one of the fifteen winners in the nineteen previous points-paying events, that meant that the non-winner with the most points will also be part of the Chase. That turned out to be Lexi Patterson, driver of Team Jebslund's #30 Sie Nah Fleet Systems Bartpinguin. She finished the Pencurve in thirteenth. "Congratulations not only to Skip and Stacie, but also to Lexi", said Alvarez. "It's been a great journey for her. From a part-timer and relative unknown at Hampton Island Racing, to a full-timer and Chase participant at Team Jebslund. I bet HIR is already thinking of the scenario where they stuck to her. They don't know what they're missing." HIR themselves failed to send a driver in the playoff stage, unlike last season where Alex Knight (#6) got in by virtue of his Pencurve victory. (OOC: Alvarez is having some doubts about Lexi's karting background, which is why the only thing she mentioned about Lexi's past is her part-time role at HIR.)

Sage Caldwell, GFR's R&D driver, put up a top twenty performance at home, driving his #19 Blood Moon Beer Chadwick to sixteenth. "It's fine. Back at home, ran a clean race, got a top twenty. Heat is a little unbearable though." A passing fan asked, "If you're feeling so hot right now, why don't you shave off your hair?", to which he replied "Nah, ain't going that far. You know what a signature look is? Sage ain't Sage without them dreads, baby." Jalton has been experiencing a heat wave for the past couple of weeks, to the delight of nobody, except maybe beverage companies. Thirsty race fans swarmed the booths of Blood Moon Beer, Vilaye Energy Drink, REDUP Energy Drink, and even Hyde Medical Group, which has also started selling lemonade with their bake sale.

The Pencurve was, all in all, a very eventful, popular, and even viral race. In what was likely a publicity stunt for Fat Chuck's Tasty Fried Chicken, Hapilopper's Drake Stevenson (#71), dressed as a stereotypical farmer, drove a tractor around the track, pulling a trailer with a huge egg and Byrd in a chicken costume on top of it. Byrd also spent the whole race in the costume, instead of a regulation fire suit and helmet. This led the Jalton Superspeedway management request the league to take action. "All things considered, he [Byrd] did well, even getting second in that costume. But even if it's impressive, it's against safety regulations. He's lucky he didn't get into an accident. Now, we wouldn't want him to be suspended. A fine would do", said track management. "That goes for the fighting too." A brawl erupted between Byrd and Fat Chuck's boss, Charles Tennyson, at the end of the race, believed to be caused by the humiliation that the driver had endured at the hands of his sponsor.

"I don't completely buy it though. That looks like a big staged stunt that will hopefully increase awareness of Fat Chuck's worldwide. All publicity is good publicity anyway", said Max Gannon, Kanyean racing analyst and host of the radio show To The Max. "Genius move, I'd say. When people look back at this season's Pencurve, they're not just gonna be thinking about Stiller winning, or Lexi making it into the Chase, or Qiang flipping, or the heat. They're gonna be craving for some Hapiloppian fried chicken."

And that's it for the regular season; up next is the first race of the Chase's first round, the Atlas 799K at the Aurora Motorsports Park in Ember Valley, Esmerel. All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET (Saint KanYe NETwork) Sports Channel 12, and online at nsscra.skynet.stk.

Toys 4 All - Wave Chase 1

Postby Vilita and Turori » Sun Sep 01, 2019 8:59 am

Toys '4' All Corporate Headquarters, Design & Development Facility, Lopinka, Vilita :: While the popularity of her new Racing Collectors product line was certainly a thrilling prospect for the product lead Ellyn Illinoi and the entire Toys '4' All team, it also presented itself to be a bit of a logistical nightmare as the NSSCRA 8 Regular Season came to a close. Having committed to producing a special 5-car set for each of the Five Star Combo events on the schedule seemed like a solid idea to increase sales and also increase the amount of interest in the Racing Collectors line. However, due to the clumping together of those events on the NSSCRA schedule, it also provided a logistical bottleneck in the production department. Adding to that was the fact that right in the middle of the stretch of Five Star Combo events was the end of the NSSCRA Regular Season at which point Illinoi would have little time before getting the first Waves of NSSCRA Chase edition Racing Collectors Die Cast to the shelves.

There was no choice other than to build new production lines to begin parallel processing so thats exactly what Toys '4' All did expanding their footprint slightly at their Lopinka production facility to add another production line for the Racing Collectors set. They got this line up and going as quickly as possible and began producing on it the NSSCRA Chase edition Racing Collectors stock cars. Luckily Illinoi and the team did not have to wait until the end of the Regular Season to start producing the line as a number of drivers had already secured their place in the NSSCRA Chase well before the end of the regular season including last seasons first and second place finishers Stacie Houston of Team Cassadaigua and Yraaga Gilli'i of Vilita and Turori Motorsports.

Those two along with Oberst Eva Kerman of Jebslunder Motorworken and Glorious Free Republic Motorsports driver Thea Alvarez would make up the first wave of NSSCRA 8 Chase collectibles. The Alvarez design was the most difficult for the team due to the color transitions across the entirety of the chassis and the new production line incorporated a number of process improvements that were specifically designed with the production of the #46 Multiversal Automotive Coatings Chadwick and other similar designs in mind.

While Chase Wave #1 has already hit shelves, Chase Wave #2 would not be far behind and both waves were expected to be available track side in Esmerel as well as at Toys '4' All locations and retail partners throughout the multiverse by the time of the Atlas 799K in Ember Valley. Illinoi hopes to have Chase Wave #3 and Chase Wave #4 ready by the time the circuit returns to Vilita for the Vilaye Energy Drink 314 though she will also in parallel need to be producing the Five Star Combo collectors set for that event - both lines of which could not begin design or production until the end of the Pencurve Electronics 500.

The garage area, Aurora Motorsports Park, Ember Valley, Esmerel
The day of practice and qualifying
“YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE… CHET BYRD, DRAKE STEVENSON AND KEN HENSON, REPORT TO THE NSSCRA OFFICE TRAILER IMMEDIATELY. REPEAT, CHET BYRD, DRAKE STEVENSON AND KEN HENSON TO THE NSSCRA OFFICE TRAILER IMMEDIATELY.”

The three knew it was coming. All week, they had heard that the NSSCRA would be having a discussion with the three the second they arrived in Esmerel. They had heard that series officials were not happy with the fight that had taken place at the end of the race in Saint Kanye. They were even less happy that a great race in a great nation had been overshadowed by a bunch of Hapiloppians acting like a bunch of idiots after the race. And they were downright angry at the fact that Chet had raced with a chicken suit and no firesuit underneath. The three walked to the office trailer to receive their tongue lashing.

On this day, however, Chet looked a tiny bit different. It was the new colors. Drake had been challenged to find a new sponsor for Chet, and he found one pretty quickly, in the form of Mark Taylor’s Bourbon, the top bourbon whiskey brand in Hapilopper. Drake, having taken the assignment pretty seriously, called into the post-race meeting at the Team Blue Shop as he drove to Harrisville, a suburb of Garvinson, to meet with reps with Taylor Spirits, the company that produced Mark Taylor’s Bourbon. Drake, however, didn’t let on just who he was meeting with.

“I’ve got a potential new sponsor,” Drake said. “I’ll let you know if I sign anything.”

But sure enough, Drake had sold Taylor Spirits on Chet Byrd – a known bourbon drinker, and a pretty classy person. They liked the fact that Chet knew how to have a good time, and they liked the fact that he was someone who consumed their product – responsibly, of course. By the close of business that day, a contract had been signed, and it was just up to Chet to sign it. When Chet found out who his sponsor would be, he was overjoyed.

“Does this mean I don’t have to do any more ridiculous stunts?” Chet asked.

“I think the only thing they’re asking you to do is sip a glass of bourbon on camera,” Drake responded.

“Hell, I do that almost every day,” Chet responded. “Hell yeah, I’ll sign it!”

Consequently, even if the NSSCRA threw the book at Chet for not wearing proper equipment in Saint Kanye, he didn’t mind. It was all worth it to get Fat Chuck Tennyson out of his hair. Fat Chuck, by the way, was back in Hapilopper, mulling a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Team Blue, Chet and Drake for their actions in Saint Kanye. His attorneys decided they would make it their weekend project to get a lawsuit drawn up and sent in to a judge in West Hampton.

Meanwhile, Chris Holmes and Frank Bronson were back in the Team Blue Center. Chris was playing a popular karting game with a group of people from all over the multiverse while Frank was sitting a nearby table, reading the news from Hapilopper on his laptop, and there were some doozies in the headlines. A prominent member of President William Mathis’s cabinet – specifically, the Secretary of Finance – had been caught on video accepting bribes from a defense contractor in an effort to obtain a contract for a new fighter jet. The controversial Second Way Church, the largest megachurch in Hapilopper and what some called “an example of the Prosperity Gospel gone mad” was raided by authorities due to some sort of organized crime connection. And a man in Kingsland accidentally caused his house to explode after he found a nest of roaches near the hot water heater.

So the man did what any other sane person would do. He grabbed his double-barreled shotgun and blasted those roaches to high heaven. Unfortunately, he also blasted the hot water heater and himself, and the house went up pretty quickly. A next door neighbor was quoted as saying “the whole ground shook. There must have been something there that also exploded.”

“Chris, come here and read this,” Frank said, laughing. “Kingsland Man strikes again!”

Chris paused his game and went over to have a look. Kingsland, one of the larger cities in Hapilopper, was known for its particularly, shall we say, interesting people. One man was arrested for lunging through the drive-through window of a Fat Chuck’s at the worker inside, and by the way, the man was naked. Another person was arrested after installing a grenade launcher to his car and attempting to utilize it in the middle of rush-hour traffic. And another person was caught stealing a urinal from a Mel’s Ultra-Mart and leaving the store with it.

“You know, these guys are idiots,” Chris said to Frank.

“Yeah,” Frank responded. “Hey, here comes Chet, Drake and Ken.”

Those three had been in the middle of a conversation about the tongue lashing they had just received from NSSCRA officials. As a matter of fact, NSSCRA officials ripped Drake and Chet a new one. Chet had been fined $100,000 and put on probation for the remainder of the season for failure to wear proper equipment while racing. Chet and Drake was fined $50,000 each for the fight with Fat Chuck, while Ken had been fined $10,000 for failure to control his team members.

Ken stated he would appeal his fine as he hadn't even done anything, while Drake and Chet stated they would not appeal their fines. The fact was, Chet actually wasn’t that upset about it.

“Look, I told them that the only thing I regretted about that whole deal was the fact the giant egg stunt was poorly timed,” Chet said. “I should have done it five minutes before so I would have had time to change. Aside from that, the fact I got Fat Chuck out of my hair, I’m proud of that.”

“Well, he might still strike,” Ken responded. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes back with a lawsuit.”

“If he does, I’ll fight him,” Chet said. “That bastard.”
(OOC: Chet's new car will be posted tonight.)

Pencurve Electronics 500, Jalton Superspeedway, Jalton, Saint Kanye :: A Season that started off with a bang ended with a wimper for Team Tropicorp as they saw their chances of qualifying for the NSSCRA Chase Playoff rounds firmly come to an end with the checkered flag at the Pencurve Electronics 500 at the Jalton Superspeedway.

One could argue that while they were not trying to field a competitive team during NSSCRA Season 7 they way they had done during NSSCRA Season 8, Team Tropicorp ultimately came closer to making the 16-team playoff field one season ago when Euroli Islander wheeled the #42 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart to a third place finish at the Pencurve and nearly snuck into the playoff field with an upset victory.

Fast forward one season and with a competitive team set on putting a car in the playoff field, Team Tropicorp never looked in contention in Saint Kanye with all three of their drivers finishing outside the Top 10. With just one Top 5 finish across all three cars over the last seven rounds of the season, Team Tropicorp dropped from well inside the Playoff spaces to well outside. The two Cocoabo and one rookie driver for Team Tropicorp did well enough during the 20 race Regular Season in order for fans and pundits alike to think they would be in contention in the battle for the last playoff spot but having fallen short of their goal, Team Tropicorp have nothing to show for their efforts and are now sitting in the same boat as teams from Lisander, Vangaziland, Caleonia and Sedile - with no cars inside the NSSCRA Playoff Chase and ten more races left on the calendar with nothing to race for but pride. With five rookie drivers amongst those competing in the NSSCRA Playoffs, Team Tropicorp's Anavella Ariiki is unlikely to even challenge for a Rookie of the Season honor being nearly 200 points behind in that department with just half as many races remaining on the calendar.

However, the season can't be considered a total loss for Tropicorp as there were still a number of high points along the way. Of course it all started at the Exhibition in Tundra Falls where Cocoabo #78 put to rest any doubts about the competitiveness of the team and the quality of the drivers coming out of the Cocoabo Enrichment and Enhancement Project's Auto Racing program with Team Tropicorp's first ever Checkered Flag run. The team also proved to be consistently better week in week out than one season prior with 7 Top 5 finishes and 14 Top ten finishes compared with just one top 5 and five Top 10 finishes during NSSCRA Season 7.

There still remain ten races on the schedule for one of Team Tropicorp's 3 drivers to collect the first ever victory for the Tropicoast based team - or perhaps an opportunity for Euroli Islander if the team are given permission to enter the Simulator driver in the Atlas 799K in Ember Valley as car and driver are already along for the rid on the way back to Tropicoast from Saint Kanye. While a victory in the final ten events wouldn't earn much for the Team it would give them the momentum and confidence needed in their preparations for a renewed attempt at a playoff push during NSSCRA Season 9. Team Tropicorp drivers could also be auditioning themselves for a ride in the new season particularly the two Cocoabo drivers who struggled in recent events to maintain the expected level of competitiveness they had achieved earlier in the season.

While Team Tropicorp didn't achieve the goals they had set for themselves during the Regular Season the same could not be said for Tropicorp Racing Supply and their Sifaka tire as in the 20 Race Regular Season with two Exhibition non-points events, Tropicorp Racing Supply outfitted drivers won 19 times and earned 17 Pole Positions, a mark of dominance on the circuit that certainly was greater than would have been expected at the start of the season in Tropicoast. Now, with thirteen of the sixteen NSSCRA Chase Drivers utilizing Tropicorp Racing Supply and one car, the #41 of Yraaga Gilli'i actually sponsored by Tropicorp Racing Supply, there will still be plenty for employees and family back in Tropicoast to Cheer for when the NSSCRA Playoffs begin.

NSSCRA FINES #73 RACE TEAM

NSSCRA officials announced this morning that the #73 Team Blue team has been fined $25,000 for its failure to adhere to safety standards. The teams driver, Chet Byrd, drove in the race without wearing a proper firesuit, and was instead wearing a chicken suit. A NSSCRA spokesperson stated, "While many people were amused by the fact Mr. Byrd was dressed like a bird, he is not a bird, unlike our known competing birds. Therefore, he is required to wear a proper firesuit. We are disappointed that his race team allowed this to happen, but we must put a stop to this so it does not become a more common occurrence."

The Valentians - Actual @ Pencurve Electronics 500, Jalton Superspeedway, Jalton, Saint Kanye

The Valentians were all anxious for the final race of the season. Valentijn and the rest of the personnel back at home were nervous and were on the edge of their seats, with their eyes glued to the TV set. There were cameras and reporters covering each and every driver, it seems. And for the Valentians, since they came out one at a time, it would be Clarissa first that got the limelight, followed by Jolyn, then by Gwen. Marcus was together with the rest of the pit crew, helping them out with whatever he can, even when he is not qualified and does not need to be there.

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: All the best, you guys! Don’t panic too much, and you will be fine!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I really wish I am in my car right now. The crowd is one thing, but this weather is killing me!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Please don’t faint, Jolyn! We need all the energy we have for this race!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Well, with the A/C inside, I won’t, trust me! Well, girls… this is it! The final race of the regular season! I wish you both all the best, and hopefully we will move on to the next section!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Oooh, all the best as well! I hope we get a little something out of this, you know?

Other than the weather bothering Gwen and Jolyn, it was more or less a rather fine day. The skies are clear, the sun is shining brightly, and Clarissa is enjoying it, her foldable solar panels trying to take in extra energy. They got into their cars, Jolyn blasted the A/C full-speed, while Jared was explaining some technical bits and the race course advices to the three of them.

-----

And with the drivers seated and doing a rolling start according to their qualification positions, they are finally away!

-----

Segment 1: Clarissa: 17 // Jolyn: 23 // Gwen: 07
Segment 2: Clarissa: 37 // Jolyn: 13 // Gwen: 26
Segment 3: Clarissa: 20 // Jolyn: 06 // Gwen: 35
Segment 4: Clarissa: 10 // Jolyn: 17 // Gwen: 12
Segment 5: Clarissa: 03 // Jolyn: 32 // Gwen: 05
Segment 6: Clarissa: 18 // Jolyn: 17 // Gwen: 15

-----

Highlights of the race:

The second segment was where Clarissa and Gwen had a small tangle-up, scratching each other’s vehicle whilst with Gwen’s attempt in turning with as minimal speed loss as possible. However, that turned out to be a rather unwise move; she was still going too fast and as aforementioned, hit Clarissa who was by her side. The two recovered quickly, but Clarissa then got lost behind a crowd of cars that have suddenly overtaken her. For the rest of the segment, she had no choice but simply to stay at the back and look for any openings.

The third segment was where Clarissa and Gwen changed places, though this time, it was not because of each other. After being guilty of what have happened to Clarissa because of her, Gwen was slowing down considerably, and that in turn caused her to get overtaken by a large margin. Clarissa, on the other hand, was operating much more efficiently, routing the most optimum paths for her to take, and with the cars in front of her thinning out due to a few of them going to the pit stops, she got a clearing and breezed through and up by several positions.

Fourth segment was the peak of the Valentian trio, ending up in the top half of the race – Clarissa at 10th, Jolyn at 17th, and Gwen at 12th.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: [Radio] Let’s keep it going! We are doing amazingly well, haha!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: [Radio] Yeah, let’s go!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: [Radio] Err, guys… problem… My A/C is not working so well right now. I think the compressor unit is broken!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: [Radio] Damn, that’s not good! Jolyn, you will have to go for a pit stop!

Jared Kev Jensen Benedict Angus: [Radio] Gwen’s right. You will have to pull over and let us fix the unit right away. This heat is already bad enough for us!

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: [Radio] I think you three should go for one right now. The tires are probably not going to last as long!

Heeding the advices, the Valentian trio headed for yet another pit stop at the fourth segment, with Jolyn taking longer than the other two, due to her busted A/C system.

-----

The fifth segment was when Clarissa and Gwen improved drastically, pulling in at 3th and 5th respectively. As for Jolyn, she did not run into any accidents on the track. Rather, it was simply because of the fact that she took too long with her pit stop and as a result, she had to make up for the lost laps and time. She finished with 32nd, which was not as bad, but she at least made it through.

-----

The finish was something of a teamwork. They know that they could not make it to the 1st place in such a short timespan, so the Valentians huddled up together and finished the race together, with Clarissa, Jolyn, and Gwen finishing at 18th, 17th, and 15th respectively. Sage Caldwell’s #19 was in-between them at the 16th place, but they figured that they might as well let him be there as well. The last thing the Valentians want to do was to be hostile to the other racers.

The Valentians - After Race @ Pencurve Electronics 500, Jalton Superspeedway, Jalton, Saint Kanye

The race results were out, as well as the overall results that followed soon after. The Valentian trio, along with the rest of the crew members, were all grouped together at their lounges.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Woo-hoo, I made it! I made it! I am soooo happy, haha! I am going to race once more!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Hey, so am I! You and me, sister! And Gwen too, I hope!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Aww, no guys… I’m sorry, this is where I am finished. Unfortunately… errm… I didn’t make it. I didn’t get a win, and I got bested by the other drivers.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Aww, darn, Gwen… I am so sorry to hear that. Would you like a hug?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Haha, ahh, maybe some other time.

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: I find that a little absurd. I mean, if they account for the times when you did not qualify, you definitely would score a lot more points than most of them.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, but… I’m fine with that! I mean, don’t get me wrong, guys… I want to race, I really do! But at the same time, we have to face the facts that we are more or less just rookies, and while most of them appreciate us by now, the fact of the matter is? We will always be bested by them. And I can accept that!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Aww, that’s so sweet and nice of you, Gwen!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Andddd also because my back is killing me. Being stuffed inside that little car has been havoc for me, no matter how hard I tried my best to reposition my seat!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ahh, and hey, you got that money going for you! I reckon that you could re-visit those countries, and maybe just have a vacation. You deserve a break too!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, that is true! And so guys… And Jared, Marcus, and everyone here… Thank you all for helping me out thus far! I appreciate the friendship that we have, and I am glad to be this part of the team! But, sometimes, you will get bested by the people ahead of you, and that’s fine! I used to be a little too adamant about winning, but over time, I don’t know… it’s not that I feel indifferent. I feel a bit disappointed that I didn’t make it, but at the same time? Not a big deal, you know? Maybe there’s NSSCRA 9 that we can participate in!

The rest of the Valentians started an applause for Gwen, and all of them giving her a meaningful hug.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Hehe, you can hug me now, Clarissa!

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: So, where do you have in mind, Ms. Tracer? Hehe.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I’m thinking about Tropicorp, is it? That’s the place, right? The one with the cocoabos.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: You want to go and meet that little cocoabo that you yelled at, isn’t it?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah… I miss that little bird!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I’m not sure if you can call them small! I mean, they drove and raced alongside us! Though, provided, they are trained, but the sizes that they can grow to!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: True, true… still, pretty small for us Valentians, haha!

-----

And with that said, Gwen have bid her goodbyes for the time being, and waved at the Valentians happily. She wasn’t going to disappear forever, or anything of that sort, but just that she would be taking a vacation, and away from the race for the time being. Of course, she will most very definitely support them, but from a distance lands, in some tropical island, or wherever else that Gwen fancies herself going to.

In the meantime, the rest of the Valentians caught a snippet of the news.

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: Dude, isn’t that Chet, our guy?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Ooh yeah! That’s our party host from Hapilopper, isn’t he?

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: Yup! Apparently… damn, he got fined for wearing a chicken suit.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: How the heck does he even do that? Make me wear that and I would have rather forfeit the race. I mean… wouldn’t it be hot there?

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: Yeah, that’s true. I mean, maybe he just wants to go off with a bang, but unfortunately, that bang backfired.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: I feel bad for him! Though at the same time, you have to admit that it’s hilarious!

VTM Trio Hope to Rebound in Playoff Opener

#14 River 'Shark' Suzgar is pushed by #41 Yraaga Gilli'i at Jalton Superspeedway

Pencurve Electronics 500, Jalton Superspeedway, Jalton, Saint Kanye :: Even the best laid plans are forced to be shook up from time to time and Vilita and Turori Motorsports learned just that at the end of the Pencurve Electronics 500 after their drivers, River 'Shark' Suzgar and Yraaga Gilli'i who had been working together at the front of the pack all race long got separated and forced a quick change in the plans for the sprint to the finish.

River 'Shark' Suzgar II, the former NSSCRA Champion and winner of the Pencurve Electronics 500 had been working with Yraaga Gilli'i in the #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart for the majority of the race since the drop of the green flag where Suzgar started from Pole Position with Gilli'i right on their tail along side in third place. The duo started alongside Stacie Houston and Thea Alvarez who were battling for the Regular Season title on the day while Gilli'i was looking to secure the title of most victorious driver if they could add to their already season-best three victories. For Suzgar, it was the second of three races on the season in a special paint scheme that uniquely featured all three of the NSSCRA 6 Champions full time sponsors in primary position on the hood, sides and rear of the car.

However towards the end of the Pencurve Electronics 500, Suzgar had to pull out of the draft momentarily and got separated from Gilli'i. Vilita and Turori Motorsports franticly looked to adjust their plan and quickly had Centur Tiones drop down to try to help Suzgar get back in the pack but the two just sank to the rear of the field leaving Gilli'i without a partner. Gilli'i eventually linked to the bumper of former Vilita and Turori Motorsports development driver Rockii Ezis and the duo stayed in contention with Ezis ultimately posting their second consecutive Fifth Place finish - the first time ever the CoCoCo sponsored driver had finished in the Top 5 in back-to-back events. Gilli'i would be the top finishing Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver with their 7th place finish while Suzgar and Tiones would cross the line together in 24th and 25th position.

While the team was overall disappointed to not have at least one driver be in serious contention for the win on the final turn for the first time in the history of the event, it was time for a reset as the first round of the Playoffs would kick off the following week at Ember Valley in Esmerel.

With the regular Season wrapped up, Vilita and Turori Motorsports didn't have much momentum built up but had proven to be one of the most consistent teams on the circuit with just two DNF's over the opening 20 events. All three Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers had stunningly similar points hauls in the Regular Season finishing 67th, 7th and 8th in the points standings with Suzgar in 6th with one win and 690 points, Gilli'i in 7th place with 689 points and Tiones bringing up 'the rear' in 8th place with 686 points. 20 Races, Five Wins and just four points separated the three drivers who while they were never seriously in contention for the Regular Season title would have to be favored to advance from the Round of 16 which includes a home event at the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course as well as the Five Star Mobile 500 in Cassadaigua which has historically been a strong event for Vilita and Turori Motorsports including Yraaga Gilli'i who will enter the race as its defending champion. The biggest disappointing for the team leaving Saint Kanye was the failure to put any of their drivers inside the Top 5 which will mean that none of the Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers will be eligible for the Five Star Combo or Five Star Five when the series returns to Vilita for the Vilaye Energy Drink 314. Before they get there, however, it is off to Esmerel for the first ever Atlas 799K which could serve as an equalizer in the otherwise familiar NSSCRA playoff schedule.

The Valentians - The Great and Grand Grass Hill From Somewhere In The Universe / Miscellaneous Bits and Storylines

The next day, due to a larger gap of break, Clarissa and Valentijn asked each other out for a small date, just somewhere nearby that they could go to. They settled with a… grassfield, that both of them could just lie down and watch the sunset, or the clouds.

As Valentijn made his way joyfully, with a large bunch of flowers in his hand, he found Clarissa standing in the field, dwarfing everything with her 57-meter height. A 60-meter-tall man, and a 57-meter-tall robot woman. A rather odd couple, they would constantly think to themselves. But they valued each other’s company, friendship, and some degree of romance. They were simply so happy to see each other, and that’s all it matters, no matter where.

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Ahh Clarissa, darling… it’s such a pleasure to see you face-to-face again!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: You too, Vallie! You too! Well, I heard that you have been watching the news and the livefeed!

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Indeed I am! I mean, I’m always supportive of my dearest wife, you know?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Aww, Vallie… you are too very kind and sweet!

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Ahh, Clarissa… I miss you so very much.

They walked towards a tree and sat in the shade, just simply holding each other’s hands, and perhaps an occasional hug. The tree was also bigger than them, so… perhaps this was some sort of a dimension or a Valentian world yet again? Then again, even Valentine Z does not have oversized trees, so… perhaps just somewhere that they are familiar with.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Quite an interesting place that you arranged! Not Holly’s place?

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Ahh, I like her, but… I think it’s time that we also go and visit other places, you know?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Yeah, that’s true! Wonderful planet you found here! So… giant trees, but no animals and people around?

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Not that I know of.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Good, good! Then we should certainly give this a try!

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Haha, you sure you want to, honey? It will be risky!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Sure! I love to! No one’s around, hm hm!

Nodding in agreement, both of them got up, and positioned themselves at the tree itself; Valentijn stood opposite of Clarissa, so they are facing each other, with the tree in the middle. They then held each other’s hands, leaned back a little, and simply started walking around the tree at a regular pace.

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: You start first, Clarrie!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Hm hm! ♪ Ohhh, what a wonderful day! Just me and my dear Vallie!

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: ♪ Ohhh, it is indeed wonderful, my love! You and me, without a care of the world, and no one to judge us around!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: ♪ What a very very lovely wayyyy, to de-stress yourself! Let me dump my memory, and hold onto your hand for eternity!

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: ♪ Because of you, I have fun! Yeah, it may be cringy, but we have fun!

This went on for a couple more minutes. The two lovebirds and rulers of Valentine Z, simply having a day-off from their usual line of duty, and having fun. Many others might find it weird, but that is simply what they do when they got their own privacy.

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: I’m so glad that we got out of F7 from time to time.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Shh, dear… too meta, hm hm! Haha, kidding! ^^ I know what you mean, Vallie! No one to judge us… no one giving us care… it’s just you, and me, and this big old tree!

Valentijn Samantha Maxwell Constantine: Hope this day lasts a bit longer, you know?

The Valentians - Gwen’s Holiday, Jalton, Saint Kanye

She was ready as ever, she thought to herself. She was about to buy the walk-in plane tickets back to Tropicorp, specifically to Cocoabo Islands. She was about to meet that lovely cocoabo that she consider a friend, when suddenly, her phone was buzzing with a lot of messages from a group chat:

Jolyn: Gwen, please come back ASAP. You are still in for qualifications! We will explain.

Jenny: GWEN. BACK. NOW. YOU ARE STILL IN!

Jared: Cheers, Love! We need the Cavalry! Come back!

Germaine: Don’t need to call us! Just reply back!

Marcus: If you don’t come back, can I take your place?

Going out of the line for the ticket purchase, and with her heart racing, she flagged a cab and made her way back to the lounge. Several of the Valentians were still around, but they were all nearly packed and soon ready to move to the next destination.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Hii! So err, emergency for me?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Oh yeah, Gwen… you are still inside, congratulations! So… let Jenny do the explanation for you!

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: You don’t suck as they think you are, haha!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ugh, Jenny…

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: Haha, I’m just messing with you. So get this: You are still in the race, everyone is! They, along with you, are all coming back for the next races after the regular season! The thing about you not making it? That’s for Chase, some championship thing… so yeah. You didn’t make it for the Championship, but you can still try!

Her eyes brighten up. Gwen was ready to race once again… after retiring for a span of 2 hours.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Where’s Clarissa?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ohh she headed off somewhere with Valentijn. You know, husband-wife thing.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Ahh, that…. Well, we have seen a lot of their actions in public too, hah! Holding hands, cheek kisses…. All the benign stuff!

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: A healthy love life is necessary too!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, but this Fate goes alone! I wander alone… most of the time! I mean, I have you guys, but you know what I mean!

Marcus Alan Ariel Baptiste Reynolds: Well, there goes your back again.

Jared Kev Jensen Benedict Angus: Sorry, Gwen, we tried our best with that. There was seriously no further way for us to lower and reposition the seat.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I’ll manage, don’t worry. And guys… thanks for having my back, once again!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: So… where were you planning to go?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Cocoabo Islands. I was nearly buying a ticket, then my phone gets spammed with a crapton of messages!

Toys 4 All - Wave Chase 2

Postby Vilita and Turori » Sun Sep 01, 2019 10:20 pm

Image

Toys '4' All Corporate Headquarters, Design & Development Facility, Lopinka, Vilita :: The Boxes of NSSCRA Season 8 Chase Wave 1 Stock Car Racing Collectibles were already on their way to Esmerel and to Toys '4' All locations and affiliates throughout the multiverse. There was no question that Ellyn Illinoi had made her deadline of getting the first Wave of Racing Collectors NSSCRA Chase collectibles delivered prior to the start of the Chase itself. She wanted more, however. Now she had two lines going. While the team was preparing the original production line to handle the newest wave of Five Star Combo participants to hit the shelves in time for the Vilaye Energy Drink 314 at the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course, the new line was already pumping out the second wave of NSSCRA Season 8 Chase collectibles.

While there was no question that they would get strong sales of the first Wave of Chase die-cast including the defending series champion Stacie Houston of Cassadaigua, the circuits winningest driver Yraaga Gilli'i of Vilita and Turori and one of its most colorful in Saint Kanye's Thea Alvarez, Illinoi also knew that there were two kinds of collectors. The completionist - who would be looking to buy every single car on offer, and the fan who would likely be focused on picking up only the cars representing their favorite driver. No matter which customer they encountered, having more selection meant more sales so Illinoi knew her sales would increase if she could deliver the second wave to Esmerel.

Once the first set passed Quality Review, they started boxing them up. The Second Wave would finish out the Glorious Free Republic Motorsports drivers with the #3 QED Rentals Chadwick of Skip Stiller and the #18 Hyde Medical Group Chadwick of Jeremiah Brooke. It would also include the #44 Khamdo TMW of Kai Qiang - one of the few drivers on circuit not to sport the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award contingency decal on their car with the logo of their primary sponsor Khamdo occupying that space instead. Perhaps to make up for it in an Equilibrium of Vilaye, the fourth and final offering of the set is the #14 Vilaye Energy Drink Dart of River 'Shark' Suzgar II. Suzgar may have been higher in the standings than Yraaga Gilli'i but technically as Gilli'i had three wins they were more certain to qualify for the Chase so got the spot in Chase Wave 1 instead of Suzgar. Illinoi made the decision to include Suzgar's Vilaye Energy Drink Dart as the previously produce #14 Chase car had included the Vilitan Tourism Board sponsorship while the Toys '4' All sponsored Dart had been included during the Season Preview Wave.

As the gates opened in Ember Valley, the delivery trucks arrived with the second wave of Racing Collectors NSSCRA Season 8 Chase collectibles. While they wouldn't get out of the packaging and available for purchase until the second shift started in the middle of the day, they had arrived and Illinoi had overachieved her production goal as things back in Lopinka had already moved on to production of the third Chase Wave featuring some of the drivers whose place in the Playoffs wasn't fully clinched until the end of the Pencurve Electronics 500.

On track at the Aurora Motorsports Park many expected the Chase Drivers to dominate the proceedings but it was Team Blue driver Frank Bronson who stole the show in Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Qualifying to earn their first career pole position beating out a slew of Chase drivers to do it. Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver Centur Tiones was second fastest in the Pole Qualifying session for what will be their first ever Playoff Race as a member of the Chase field. Tiones, who has won a race in each of the previous three NSSCRA Seasons qualified for the Chase for the first time in their career this season after a win at the Kobold Tools 300 during the third race of the NSSCRA Season 8 campaign. Tiones had gone through a rough patch over the final five races of the regular season with no Top 10 Qualifying runs and just one Top 10 finish so the strong qualifying run for the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart comes at a much needed time as the team look to gain some momentum as they look to survive the first round of the Playoff Chase.

Regular Season champion and defending NSSCRA Champion Stacie Houston will roll off the grid fourth in the #27 Five Star Mobile Blaze in what will be the only race in the first round of the NSSCRA Chase that will not be part of the Five Star Combo promotional prize pool. Two Playoff drivers who will have their work cut out for them on race day will be Kai Qiang of the Sherpa Empire and Oberst Eva Kerman of Jebslund who will roll off from the last row on the grid in 45th and 46th place respectively.

There will be two CoCoCo sponsored cars in the field as long time CoCoCo driver Rockii Ezis will look to extend their string of Top 5 finishes to three races though they will have to do so from a precarious 39th place starting position in the #48 CoCoCo Rocket. Local driver Ben Carpenter will have a better view at the start of the event rolling off 17th in the #84 CoCoCo machine alongside their teammate Joseph Rawlings one of four Atlas-Phoenician Racing drivers in the field. Carpenter's part-time deal with CoCoCo sponsorship run through the series next event at the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course at which point there will be just one CoCoCo sponsored vehicle remaining on the circuit unless Carpenter or another driver impress the multinational company enough to earn additional sponsorship support for the remainder of the NSSCRA season.

NSSCRA: THE CHASE BEGINS
Bronson on pole; GFR special schemes return

by Dante Dinkley

EMBER VALLEY - It's now time to begin the playoff stages of the eighth season of the NSSCRA (Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association). The sixteen drivers in the Chase, as the playoffs are known, have already been determined, and it's a very diverse cast. St. Kanye, the Sherpa Empire, and Vilita and Turori all have three Chase participants. Cassadaigua, Jebslund and Valentine Z have two each, while Hapilopper, through Chris Holmes, claimed the last spot. Not only that, a whopping six of these sixteen are only in their first season of full time competition.

The first of three races in the opening Round of 16 will be the Atlas 799K at the Aurora Motorsports Park here in Esmerel. Holmes' teammate Frank Bronson took pole position in his #37 Preston, while starting alongside him is V&T's Centur Tiones in the #2 Dart, the best performing Chaser in qualifying. Third is Kanyean Skip Stiller, driving the #3 Chadwick for Glorious Free Republic Motorsports. "This is it", said Stiller, the winner of the regular season-ending Pencurve Electronics 500 at Jalton last week. "I hope the momentum from the Pencurve win carries me through. That one was crucial, not to mention very motivating." Deeper into the field are the two other Yeezies. Jeremiah Brooke of the #18 machine will be at nineteenth; he told the Kibitzer, "I'm really thankful I was able to get into the Chase again. However, with all the new talent that came in this season, I'm sure it's gonna be tougher than the previous seasons. All I have to do is to keep working hard and keep running well. It's gonna be survival of the fastest out there." Thea Alvarez and the #46 car will be near the rear at thirty-fourth. "I may have started far back, but I'll fight my way up front. I'll do all I can to make sure this bad start doesn't turn into a bad finish, then into a bad Chase campaign", she said. All three GFR cars will be sporting the special schemes they had during the Vilaye Clash and the Pencurve (minus the pink details on Brooke's vehicle - the 799K is not part of the Five Star Combo). The schemes will be run in two more events, the Shellshock Batteries 400 in Hampton Island (second race of the second round) and the Gryphon Supermarket 250 in Vangaziland (third race of the third round).

Even despite their struggles, home team Atlas-Phoenician Racing was able to field a fourth car for the race, the #85 Pontiak of veteran Elio Aaron. However, things could be looking up for APR, as they have signed a deal for a technical alliance with GFR for next season. That meant a switch to Chadwick chassis and engines and the sharing of crew members. "We look forward to seeing the Atlas-Phoenician Racing drivers run well for next season", said GFR vice president Eunice Radetsky. "Their successes will be our successes. And our successes will also be theirs." Aside from Aaron, Team Jebslund will also utilize one of the two open charter spots in the upcoming race, tapping Kermania Fortress Run participant Vanda Rosa Cordeiro Kerman in the distinctively-colored #1 car. The field also welcomes Filindostani Franklin Egar for his first appearance since the Exhibition at Tundra Falls. The young driver of the #80 Badai Angin will get the chance to earn his first NSSCRA points, as the Exhibition did not award any.

All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET (Saint KanYe NETwork) Sports Channel 12, and online at nsscra.skynet.stk

It was the night before qualifying in Ember Valley, and Kai Qiang was having dinner with some guys from his pit crew at a local restaurant. Their meals hadn't arrived yet, but the waitress had brought them some appetizers, drinks, and dinner rolls. Qiang was buttering a roll while his big burly crew chief Houzhi Chang talked about the work the crew had been doing to get the car ready for the Atlas 799K. Qiang was listening, even if he didn't look very attentive. Chang was used to this, and he didn't worry about Qiang missing any important information. What he did worry about was Qiang eating buttered dinner rolls. Chang stopped in the middle of explaining a decision about tire selection and asked, "Is that butter?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

Chang rummaged around the condiments and seasonings on the table. "Qiang, you're lactose intolerant and you're lucky you didn't die in that crash last week. Can't you use marmalade or something?" Chang squinted at the little packets, shakers, and bottles trying to identify the seasonings, spreads, and sauces. He was having a hard time because the labels were not in Chinese or Sherpa. He held a packet up for Qiang to translate. "What's that say?"

"That's relish." Qiang took a big bite of his dinner roll. "What were you saying about the tires?"

Chang sighed.

"It's fine, Chang," Qiang said. "A little butter's not going to kill me. Qualifying isn't until tomorrow and it's not going to be 40 degrees." (He's using Celsius, so 40 is hot.)

The next day when it was time for qualifying, Qiang felt okay physically, but he was having trouble finding his lines and ended up with one of the worst lap times. When he got out of the car, he preemptively told Chang, "You don't have to tell me, I know that was terrible and I need to get my shit together. I do NOT want to go into the Mountain Challenge Course needing to make up points!" The Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course had been one of Qiang's worst tracks for the last two seasons, and his struggles there were a big part of why he had never been one of the final four that raced for the championship.

"Okay, so get your shit together," said Chang. He could see that Qiang understood the seriousness of the situation, but he still would have been happier if they weren't starting in the last row of the starting grid.

"I will," Qiang assured him.

That night, Qiang tried to get a good night's sleep, but he was still getting used to sleeping alone after having Mendok with him over the summer, and that combined with the pressure of the Chase made it difficult to fall asleep. Mendok drove him up the wall with her loudness and pushiness and her sadistic ideas of "fun," but being with her still left him in a better state of mind than being alone. When Qiang was alone, his personal demons caught up with him pretty fast, and his mind could wander off to some very dark places.

The morning before the race, Qiang was careful to eat a breakfast that wouldn't make him sick later, even though this meant having a somewhat lengthy chat with an Esmerelian waitress about how this dish or that dish was made. The waitress didn't seem to mind, and Qiang left her a nice tip even though he wasn't sure if that was normal in Esmerel. At the track, he went over everything with his crew to make sure the car and the team's equipment were ready for the race, and everyone knew what they were supposed to be doing.

As he was getting suited up, a reporter approached Qiang and asked him what he thought about Mayhem's Stock Car Studs contest. Qiang had more or less forgotten it existed. He shrugged and said, "I haven't followed the last couple rounds. I've been too busy."

"You know you won, though?"

Qiang laughed. "You're shitting me! That's why you shouldn't let the internet vote on things."

"You know there's a prize, right?"

"Wait... What?"

"Yeah, you get $100,000 NSD and some free stuff, like Mayhem deodorant and lodging for the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400."

Qiang laughed again and shook his head. "That is completely ridiculous. I'll have to find a good cause I can give the money to."

"So you're going to give the prize money to charity?"

"Yeah, it feels too stupid to make money off something like that."

Dinggu Wang was in a cheerful and confident mood. He had qualified 11th, and he was ecstatic to be in the Chase for the first time in his career. He felt an amazing sense of accomplishment just to make it this far, to go from an unchartered driver to a full-time charter to being part of the Chase.

He was also thankful that NSSCRA officials had done something about the chicken suit incident. He thought they were much too lax allowing cocoabos and senior citizens to race, so it was a relief to see them finally draw a line and say enough is enough.

The Valentians - Qualifications @ Atlas 799K, Aurora Motorsports Park, Ember Valley, Enera, Esmerel

With Gwen back with the rest of the Valentians, the trio practiced for their qualifications. At first, they went with the simulation, then they did a few laps on the track with the supervision from the NSSCRA officials, as well as with Jared around. The qualifications were also going to be typical and normal for the trios, as it was the case with them. When the actual day came, it went rather well for the all three of them. For the first time ever, Gwen felt like she did amazingly well even for the qualifications. Clarissa and Gwen placed 5th and 6th respectively, 0.00396837 seconds away from one another, while Jolyn placed 14th, just one position ahead of her car number.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: For one of the few times in my life, I feel so damn alive, you guys!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yup, we are all getting that energy! The very, very positive energy!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: I’m sure that we got this one in the bag! I mean, it’s a speedway, something that we can absolutely handle! Aww…. My magic car friend didn’t make it in.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Goodness gracious, last place!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I wonder what on Earth happened to her…

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Maybe it was that injury that she got in that race. She got hit pretty hard by another car, and a DNF, imagine that!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Well, that’s true! Still, maybe you can go and talk to her again!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: I suppose so, hm hm! And hey, I know what language they speak this time! Deutsch! I am ready to go in!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: You sure you don’t need me to come along?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Nah, that’s fine…. Don’t worry about it, Jolyn! I can handle it!

-----

@ Wagensvolk:

With that, Clarissa headed once again to where she thinks the car’s garage is. She doesn’t exactly have a lounging for herself, given her status as a car, but she certainly got all the furnishing and needs taken care of by the rest of the pit crew around her. As she arrived, Clarissa started hearing conversations and commands in German. She was indeed right, and so, switching her language module, she went ahead with speaking German to A7DXZ5.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: [German] Well, hello there, my friend! I… yes, I can indeed speak other languages as well, haha! Though, a bit poorly. So, how is the morning, err, day? I am sorry to hear about your qualification positions! I have seen the results, and it was rather sad. So err… would you like an embrace from me? Or something to help you out, and make you a little bit more comfortable?

Aurora Motorsports Park, Ember Valley, Enera, Esmerel
Pole Qualifying for the Atlas 799K
A number of reporters had huddled themselves around Chet Byrd, who had made headlines for his chicken suit incident the week before. The NSSCRA had announced a variety of fines against Chet and his team - $100,000 to Chet for not wearing proper equipment, $50,000 for fighting, and $25,000 to the team for “failure to adhere to safety standards.” All things considered, though, Chet didn’t really mind paying the fines.

“If you knew just what kind of person Fat Chuck Tennyson is, you’d want to do the same thing,” Chet told reporters. “Not a very good person to be around. He’d berate you when things went wrong, he’d demand you demean yourself in front of God and everybody, and it just wasn’t a pleasant experience. I did what I had to do, I have to face the consequences for it, and I’m honestly not upset about it. I’ll be writing a fat ol’ check on Monday for them.”

While Chet was holding court with reporters, Frank Bronson was about to get going. He had a little more confidence than usual. Maybe it was the fact the car felt just right. He ran five laps in the morning practice session and parked it. His confidence was palpable, and it was still very present that afternoon when it was time to qualify. He rolled out on the track and during his run, it was very clear that his car just looked faster than everyone else. As he came across the line, his fastest of two laps read “45.020”, or “182.319 MPH.” It was the fastest run of the session at that point, and the speed held up for the rest of the qualifying session. The Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award belonged to Frank Bronson, even after withstanding challenges from drivers like Centur Tiones, Skip Stiller, Stacie Houston and Clarissa Alanis Star.

After the last car finished their qualifying run, Frank and the rest of Team 37 cheered as he had scored his first career pole, and Team Blue’s second pole altogether. He strutted his way to victory lane, acting like a moron as he would be leading the field to the green flag on race day. It had been a good qualifying session for Team Blue. In addition to Frank’s pole position, Chet Byrd, most likely aided by some weight loss caused by his pockets being emptied by the NSSCRA, was 10th quickest, while Chris Holmes could only muster 22nd.

The Aurora Motorsports Park, a track a bit over two miles long, was right up the alley of both Frank and Chet, and both remarked to reporters that in their first few laps around the track, it had become one of their favorite tracks.

“I mean, the place is just so fun to drive,” Chet said. “Just trying to haul yourself through those corners, there is a level of fun that we’ve picked up from this track. I mean, this track is a hell of a lot of fun to drive, and I think we’ll be running near the front on race day.”

“This one’s going to be an enjoyable race, I think,” Frank said. “You can run any line you want, and it’s going to be a battle. Esmerel’s got a great track, one of the best on the whole circuit, and I think the fans here are going to get to see one of the best races of the season. Hopefully it’s one of the Team Blue drivers ending up in victory, and ideally, it’ll be me!”

The Team Blue Center
That evening
All three drivers and the team consultant, Drake Stevenson, were enjoying a fun evening of television with some popcorn and beer. Well, two of the three drivers, at least. Chris, on the other hand, was trying to call Hannah Byrd, Chet’s daughter, and the woman he really wanted to be with. Chet, Frank and Drake didn’t notice. They were watching a rather entertaining pro wrestling show and, to say the least, they were being thoroughly “sports entertained” at that very moment.

Chris had made several attempts already, and he was getting upset. He would call her one, twice, three times, and every time, the response would be the same: “Your call has been forwarded to an automatic voice messaging service. Hannah Byrd is not available.”

Eventually, as the three drivers were whooping it up over a wrestler using a thumbtack-laden skateboard as a weapon, his phone rang. It was Hannah.

“Chris, have you been calling me all these times?” Hannah asked. “I’m busy. Can I call you tomorrow?”

“I’m racing tomorrow,” Chris responded. “I wanted to talk to you.”

“Well, now’s not the time,” she snapped. “If I don’t respond the first time, I’ll call you later.”

She then hung up the phone and Chris just sat there, feeling like he had, once again, blown a shot with Hannah.

Chris walked over to the mini-fridge near the TV, grabbed a beer and sat down to watch some pro wrestling. Obviously the other drivers were having a great deal of fun watching the show, so why not join in?

The rest of the night, the four had a great deal of fun enjoying the wrestling, and it probably did a bit to put them in the right mindset for the next day’s race in Esmerel. It would be a great day and a great race. But Chris wondered throughout the rest of the evening, and throughout the rest of the weekend, just what, exactly, Hannah had been doing, and feared she might have found someone else.

"It'd be nice if you just stayed to chat for a bit," A7DXZ5 said. "Sometimes I just like to have some company, same as anyone else. It's hard to find friends outside Wagensvolk because of the way people treat their cars, but that doesn't mean I want to be alone all the time. It's just tough watching all those drivers going into the Chase and knowing I couldn't compete with them. I came here because I wanted to prove that letting cars drive ourselves worked better than having humans drive us, but I couldn't do it."

A7DXZ5 sounded depressed and she seemed to sag a little lower than usual toward the floor of the garage, sinking onto her tires. "I just feel like I let my country down..."

First Practice Session, Atlas 799K, Aurora Motorsports Park, Ember Valley, Enera, Esmerel :: Team Tropicorp arrived in Esmerel for the first race of the rest of the season and once again they were not part of the playoff picture with 10 more races for nothing more than Pride on the line for the remainder of the NSSCRA Season. Having already had two home events the team would be on the road for the remainder of the Calendar as they looked to gain their first ever Points Race Victory. With points no longer particularly important for the team, however, they did not rule out some changes in their driver lineup as they flip the switch from Competition back to Research and Development for the remainder of the season as they hope to prepare for NSSCRA Season 9 learning whatever they can to come out stronger and finally qualify for the playoffs in one seasons time.

With an eye toward research the team decided to put Simulator driver Euroli Islander in the #88 Car for the first practice session in place of their new driver Anavella Ariiki. With the Aurora Motorsports Park being a new circuit on the NSSCRA tour and Islander being a licensed and registered NSSCRA driver it was a smooth transition for the team who had even considered entering Islander in a 4th car for the event to gain data for the Team Tropicorp simulator program to use in preparations for the new season. Instead however they settled for a single practice session though it seemed to have some benefit to the whole team as Islander quickly loaded some data into the simulator and got the team some additional practice time in the digital box for the event. While Islander had to drive the #88 Tropicorp Dart in the practice session as they #28 and #78 machines were not designed to be driven by a non-avian species, it didnt seem to harm Anavella Ariiki much as she continued an impressive run of qualifying inside the Top 20 for the eigth straight event this time posting a Team best 7th place starting position. It is likely that Islander will not return to the track until the earliest the start of Chase Round 2 when the circuit visits the Delono Provincial Fairgrounds Raceway in Xanneria and the Marquette Raceway in Hampton Island, two course which they have no simulator data for.

Anavella Ariiki may be on the hotseat despite her strong Qualifying runs as five consecutive finishes of 28th or worse coupled with the lack of a position in the Playoff Chase and the fact that she is all but out of contention for the Rookie of the Season award could mean that Islander or perhaps fellow Tropicorp development driver Jixaka Motorai could see time in Team Tropicorp's 3rd car during the final 9 races of the season.

Clarissa could hear and see the car sink towards the ground a little, while sounding rather sad. She said something about just staying with her, just to have Clarissa around for a chat.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: [German] Oooh, well, I am fine with that, of course! I like to talk to everyone! Maybe a little too much sometimes!

She inched closer to the car; not too close, but just enough to reassure and give her a smile.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: [German] Ahh, I can tell! No offense, but… given the rather lifeless nature of other cars, they tend to treat you as one of them, yes? That’s not a way to treat you, though at the same time, I don’t really blame them… maybe they just don’t really know you that much as of now? It also didn’t help that someone crashed onto you, so… I heard about that, and once again, I’m sorry on their behalf. I mean, I have nothing to do with them, but I just feel bad when other drivers DNF.

Clarissa stopped for a while before continuing. She gave A7DXZ5 a meaningful smile, this time it was still cheerful, but of a more… hearty one.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: [German] Still, don’t feel so down, my friend! I mean, I guess it’s human nature to judge us, but… look at me, for instance. I got comments now and then about how I as a robot is not fit to drive, but I have proven them straight sometimes! I don’t want to make this about myself, so… for you, my friend, don’t worry too much! We got a few more races to qualify for~ And you have definitely not let your country down, please try not to feel that way! It is natural for us, cars, robots, and humans, to fail, but these are setbacks. You don’t necessarily fail from setback after setback. That’s not what failure is, my friend! As long as you don’t give up, and as long as you keep trying with that ambition of yours, you are doing great! Please do keep up, and I hope that we can still talk to each other more often than now. I am indeed sorry that you could not race here, but take this as an opportunity to rest, and to try for the later races! I wish you all the best, my friend! And hey, thank you for keeping me company too, haha!

Race Preview: Vilaye Energy Drink 314 @ Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course

For the second straight season the Vilaye Energy Drink 314 will serve as the second race of the opening round of the NSSCRA Chase Playoffs. The highly anticipated Vilaye Energy Drink 314 also known as The Challenge at the Rocks which is the name that the event has historically had, has seen an infusion of corporate sponsorship from the Vilisorma Beverage Company and a renaissance at the historic racing facility carved out of the Rock along the Vilitan coast. Vilisorma has helped expand the appeal for fans with many new venues and events on site, a greatly expanded fan zone and even the introduction of a footsport pitch with local club Rockii Coast in town with free admission for race ticket holders on a first come first serve basis.

The event at the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course in Rockii Coast is one the longest running continuous events on the NSSCRA schedule along with the event at the Concord Heights Raceway in Cassadaigua. Starting with NSSCRA Season 8 the Vilaye Energy Drink 314 will also be a part of the newly introduced Five Star Combo program which will also include the Five Star Five where the Top 5 finishers from the previous Five Star Combo event will be running for an extra One-Million bonus from Five Star Mobile.

The NSSCRA uses the original Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course which is a high speed banked road course and does not include use of 'The Boot' - an additional section off the backstretch which adds 30 seconds of low speed braking opportunity typically used during grand prix and open wheel competition.

Overview:

Located in the picturesque region of Vilitan right overlooking the waters of Atlantian Oceania, the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course was carved out of the Rocks on Vilita's Rockii Coast and offers a unique challenge to all drivers. The original challenge course consists of a wide-open high intensity speed park while The Grand Prix 'Boot' modification of the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course was a new addition to the facility in preparation for its inclusion in World Grand Prix Championship 11.

Where to Eat:

Inside of the pit area in the center of the track you will find the central eatery with all the local cuisine, as well as some brought to you by the other competing nations as well. Everything from meats to the meat free, things that fly, things that moo and things that swim. There are rumors that there will even be a 'bug eatery' and a "We'll fry It". The "We'll Fry It" is likely to command huge lines as they have been banned for quite some time in Vilita. However, organizers did not want foreign travelers to suffer just because of the healthier eating habits of those in the Tropics, so "We'll Fry It" has been granted a license to serve on premises for the race weekend. The business model is supreme as they don't supply any of the food with the price of the meal. The guest brings.... whatever they want... and "We'll Fry It" fries it for them. They will likely have a cooler filled with various meats and candies that can be purchased and fried for an additional fee, but "We'll Fry It" will fry anything under 2 square feet in size for just 7 tures.

Outside of the paddock area, the hidden gem of the course is the famed Poultry Shack in Turn 13. The Poultry Shack is an absolutely exquisite source to quench that meaty craving and they will dish it any way you can handle it. You can walk away with a leg in your hand or even a cup of soup. Fans sometimes don't like to make the walk all the way to the Shack however, in addition to the food, the view is incredible looking out over the Vilitan cliffs over the Water. Visibility at turn 13 and the shack is thought to be amongst the most impressive in the entire Island.

Cocoa-bo will be on hand with their famous delectables with small stands serving their signature chocolate topped drinks throughout the facility as well as two full-service Cocoa-bo eateries - a new edition for this season, will serve as a social 'hang-out' for fans who are spending the whole weekend at the track offering items such as Bagels for the morning, Soups and Sandwiches for Lunch or Dinner and Salads for the entire day.

Where to access the drivers:

Drivers are readily accessible to those with a Paddock Pass. However, in the Paddock the drivers are working so fans are asked to to approach the drivers. Instead, let the drivers approach you. There will also be designated driver interaction zones for fans with scheduled driver appearances posted throughout the weekend. The Vilisorma Beverage Company has also invested in a new viewing area for fans where they can safely peer into the garage area behind a plexi-glass barrier as the teams prepare their cars for the on track activities.

Where to get Free Stuff or Prizes:

Fans likely won't have to walk more than a few hundred yards without being coerced into taking a free sample of various products on display such as the local-based race title sponsor Vilaye Energy Drink. Check the boot area around Turn 7 for the best Vilaye booths where they will not only be giving out full beverages but they will have other prizes you can win and games for the children. A Second Vilaye Booth by the start/finish line will be double its normal size for this event given Vilaye's role as a title sponsor and will have additional activities and giveaways. Look for giveaways and handouts from other event and team sponsors throughout the Fan section of the paddock and grandstand areas.

The most exciting display however is the recurring Tiones Lumber display outside Turn 1. Tiones Lumber holds mini-lumberjack competitions for the fans at each major event at the course and you can line up to compete in many famed wood-based competitions such as the 40-foot speed climb, Long rolling, the Standing Block Chop and there will even be a team relay. The best times each day win prizes from Tiones Lumber. First prize winners will be excluded from winning on subsequent days but alternate prize winners can compete for the big prize the following day. Fans who beat the all time-records could find themselves winning free Paddock Passes or other great prizes from Tiones Lumber. There will also be a #2 Tiones Lumber Dart Show Car at the display throughout the weekend to allow pictures.

Perhaps looking to challenge Tiones Lumber for the 'most exciting display' honors, Tropicorp Racing Supply will be on hand with their new and improved 'Pit Stop Challenge" display at the end of the pit lane where fans will be able to test their ability to change a tyre or act as the fuel person so long as they first sign a release form indemnifying Tropicorp and the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course of any injury that may occur as they attempt to set the fast times to qualify for prize drawings from Tropicorp including the highly coveted Tropicorp Sifaka hat and seat cushions.

While there will be no giveaways from Toys '4' All the local Toy designer, retailer and distributor will be on hand with a slot car racing track that fans can purchase races against their fellow fans. Anyone who makes a purchase from the Toys '4' All sales tent at the track will receive a coupon for one free drive on the Slot Car track.

Other companies such as Five Star Mobile and Hapilopper Airlines are expected to be present in the Fan Zone area while Arcticala Electrical will have an educational display discussing future Energy technologies.

:: Tiones Lumber Lumberjack Challenge ::

Image
The Tiones Lumber corporation has a long history of aligning itself with sporting events in Vilita & Turori, from being the long time shirt sponsors of the Vilitan Stellar Division's Yeaddin Owls AFC, to their sponsorships in motorsports, the name "Tiones" is always on the forefront. Competitors and fans alike reap the benefits of Tiones Lumber involvement in sporting events with their finances sometimes allowing a team to compete or an event to proceed and their famous Lumberjack Competition displays always a hit with the fans.

Instead of just having one or two concurrent 'zones' that fans can test their lumberjack mettle in, there will be five distinct zones where fans will be able to participate in various activities. There will be four 'competitive' zones where participants will be timed and scored for their execution - whether they are truly competitive or not - with each days top times earning a prize and the best scores of the race weekend crowned champions. The fifth zone will be deemed a 'family zone' with events and challenges more suited for children to participate in.

The Five zones will be as follows:

COMPETITIVE ZONES ::
Note, All competitive events will explicitly require a waiver and release of all liability against Tiones Lumber signed by the participant

Zone 1: Chopping & Cutting

There will be 3 distinct events available in Zone 1, the Standing Chop, the Firewood Split and the Saw-Through Cut.

Standing Chop: Tool: Standard Axe :: In the Standing Chop Challenge, competitors can be scored in two different categories: Time and Number of Chops. A single 12 inch diameter log will be stood vertically and the competitor will be tasked with chopping through until the log is severed. Competitive times are expected to be under 20 seconds. All contestants are required to wear chain mail protection from the waste down to protect against injury from errant chops.

Firewood Split: Tool: Standard Axe :: Like the Standing Chop, there are two separate criteria used to grade the Firewood Split. Contestants will have 45 seconds to split. as many firewood segments as they can. The first 10 segments will be pre-staged and the contestant will be timed in completion of the first 10 successful splits. Should they have time remaining on the clock after the 10th split they will be tasked with resetting and further chopping segments until time runs out. Winners will be declared both on speed and number of splits made. All contestants are required to wear chain mail protection from the waste down to protect against injury from errant chops.

Saw-Through Cut: Tool: One-man Bucking Saw :: Contestants will saw through an elevated, horizontal log with a 20 inch diameter using a one-man bucking saw. Competitive times are expected to be below 15 seconds.

Zone 2: Climbing

The Climbing zone will see three identical Climbing Challenge stations to allow multiple contestants to attempt the event at the same time.

The event consists of a 20 meter tall vertical log which the contestant must after starting from a position with both feet on the ground, climb and bypass the 18 meter mark. Contestants will have spurred climbers on their feet and steel-cored climbing ropes. Several safety precautions are taken in the event. A support pole next to the designated climbing log will support a belay rope system managed by event staff. Time will stop once the contestant reaches the 18 meter mark on the vertical log and the contestant will not be timed on the way back from the top of the climbing log to return to the ground. Competitive times are expected to be below 13 seconds.

Zone 3: Log Rolling

A new addition, the Log Rolling competition will take place in water. Multiple floating logs will stretch from one end of the log pool to the other with a dry dock on either side. Contestants will be timed on crossing the pool twice - or from the starting dock to the opposite dock, then back to the starting dock. If the competitor falls into the water they are permitted one attempt to re-mount the log and continue their run. If the contestant should fall a second time their run will be ended and they will be given credit for the number of total logs they have traversed.

Zone 4: Team Events

Team Saw-Through Cut: Tool: Two-man Bucking Saw :: Contestants will saw through an elevated, horizontal log with a 20 inch diameter using a two-man bucking saw. Competitive times are expected to be below 7 seconds.

Team Log Rolling: Multiple floating logs will stretch from one end of the log pool to the other with a dry dock on either side. Contestants will be timed on crossing the pool twice. Two team members will start on opposite sides of the pool and will have to traverse from their starting dock to the opposite dock and back resulting in two 'passes' where teammates will have to bypass each other on the same log. Contestants must bypass each other on the logs and can not use the docks or the water to complete a bypass. If the competitor falls into the water they are permitted one attempt to re-mount the log and continue their run. If a team suffers a total of three combined falls their run will be ended and they will be given credit for the number of total logs the least advanced competitor has traversed. Time will be stopped once the second of the two team competitors has returned to their starting dock.

NON-COMPETITIVE ZONES ::

Zone 5: Family Zone

The non-competitive family zone will feature learning zones where Firewood Splitting techniques will be taught; three single-log rolling pools including one with a picture zone where the log can be locked into place for an individual or family to pose for photos, two 7 meter climbing logs, a firewood stacking challenge area and a special tree planting zone that teaches youngsters and parents alike the value of Tiones Lumber's Renewable Lumber Operations.

Tiones Lumber is also inviting all NSSCRA drivers to try their hand at the various Lumberjack events in a special reserved time slot after the Qualifying session including two additional Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers who have requested use of the Open Charter(s) for the Challenge at the Rocks event.

NSSCRA: BROOKE SLIPS PAST "SHARK" IN ESMEREL
Yeezie wins Chase opener for second time in career

by Maria Muller

EMBER VALLEY - It's six laps to go before the end of the Atlas 799K here in Esmerel, the first event of the playoff round in the eighth season of the NSSCRA (Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association). River Suzgar, driver of the #14 Vilitan Tourism Dart for Vilita & Turori Motorsports, has remained in the lead since he grabbed it from Kanyean Skip Stiller fifteen laps prior. In second behind "Shark", as Suzgar is nicknamed, was the #11 Pink Love Clothing Blaze of Cassadagan Jenna Logan, with Stiller's Glorious Free Republic Motorsports teammate Jeremiah Brooke in third. He, Logan and Suzgar were starting to separate from the rest of the field. Four laps to go. Brooke maneuvered his #18 Hyde Medical Group/Race Against Ligma Chadwick to the inside of Logan, getting past her as they entered turn two. Now only Suzgar is in sight. Two to go. The Shark is still leading, but Brooke is firmly on his tail. Meanwhile, Team Tropicorp's Cocoabo #78, driving the same-numbered Cocoabo Park Dart, has joined the leaders and taken third from Logan, while Stiller and his retro-inspired #3 QED Car Rentals Chadwick has dropped to fifth. The #14 and #18 were still running 1-2 as the white flag waved. Suzgar simply could not shake off Brooke, who seemed to be waiting for the right moment to strike. He found it as they approached the start/finish line. moving to Suzgar's inside and beating him to the line, and the win, by just 0.004 second. The Cocoabo was third, followed by Logan and then Stiller.

Brooke's win marked the second time that he grabbed victory in the first race of the Chase, the first one being at the Guilin 400 in the Sherpa Empire two seasons ago. He is now locked into the next round, where the number of playoff contenders will drop from sixteen to just twelve. He said in a post-race interview, "That was amazing. I think I just timed that pass perfectly", said the Kanyean driver. "I had a great car too, easy to handle. My crew was great and I couldn't have been in a position to win without them." Stiller said, "My emotions are mixed. I'm happy that a teammate won, if it couldn't be me, at least it was one of them. That was a great move and great timing on his [Brooke's] part. On the other hand, I feel disappointed that I missed my chance. Leading with less than thirty to go, but I got passed by those with fresher tires. Well, there's two more races [in the round] to make things right." Stiller didn't go for tires during the caution that occurred with about forty to go, when Paul Nystrom (#21) got into Ellie Lindskog (#50) and collected Licio Granado (#9) and hometown driver Joseph Rawlings (#83).

Thea Alvarez, who was also in the Chase with her GFR teammates, was a non-factor in the race, finishing thirty-second, six laps down. Her iridescent #46 Multiversal Automotive Coatings Chadwick started deep in the field, and she had a hard time making up positions. Like Stiller, Alvarez will be hoping for a better result in the next two races in order to advance. "I don't want my regular season efforts to be wasted, and I definitely don't want to choke and not get as far as I did the last two seasons", said the back to back Championship Four participant.

Newmanistan's Rocket Motorsports continues to show its improvement, as two of their drivers finished in the top ten. Bryan Harrison, who pilots the #5 factory-sponsored Rocket, was sixth, while Vilita and Turori-born Rockii Ezis was eighth in the #48 CoCoCo machine. Sandwiched between the two at seventh was Sherpa Chaser Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal in the #06 Mayhem AutoModi. Ninth and tenth were also Chasers, Valentian Clarissa Alanis Star in the #7 Lhotse Love/Isalov Industries Eveline and Jebslunden Eva Kerman in the #13 BDA Lowe respectively. Eva was only 0.00012 second ahead of yet another playoff driver, Cassadagan Meghan Sharpe in the #4 Spacebook Blaze.

The next race in the schedule is one where Kanyeans have traditionally been strong, the Vilaye Energy Drink 314 at the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course. Stiller is the previous winner of this race, with Brooke being the winner before him. The former will look to defend last season's win; the latter will want to win two straight; while Alvarez will aim to be the third different Yeezie to claim victory in the event. However, R&D driver Sage Caldwell is only going to be on standby, requesting instead to race at the Five Star 500 in Concord Heights, Cassadaigua, in two weeks' time. All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET (Saint KanYe NETwork) Sports Channel 12, and online at nsscra.skynet.stk.

Atlas 799K, Aurora Motorsports Park, Ember Valley, Enera, Esmerel :: After failing to finish a single race inside the Top 10 over the final five races of the NSSCRA Season 8 Regular Season and dropping from 10th to outside the Top 16 in the NSSCRA Point Standings, Cocoabo #78 and Team Tropicorp finally rebounded just when it was too late to matter as the NSSCRA Playoffs got kicked off at the Aurora Motorsports Park in Esmerel.

While it was yet another disappointing day for Anavella Ariiki in the #88 Tropicorp Dart and Cocoabo #28 in the Cocoabo Preservation Dart, Cocoabo #78 had a front row seat for the thrilling finish between Jeremiah Brooke and River 'Shark' Suzgar II.

In the end it would be Brooke's #18 Hyde Medical Group Chadwick running a special paint scheme that would out duel Suzgar with a dramatic last lap pass as the two drivers who had won the Playoff opener during the previous two NSSCRA Seasons battled once more for the opening Chase Checkered Flag.

Incredibly as Brooke nosed underneath Suzgar out of turn four to defeat Suzgar in a photo finish virtually indistinguishable to the human eye, the finish would quickly be remember as one of the most exciting finishes of its generation. It will surely go down in history along side the five other final lap passes that Glorious Free Republic drivers have made to claim victory in similar fashion over the past season including both of Thea Alvarez's victories during the NSSCRA Season 8 Regular Season.

During Round 6 of the season in Western Carolina it was Alvarez who bypassed the Valkyrie driver in Turn 4 to claim a short track checkered flag with a victory margin of 0.009s. Later in the season Alvarez would win again in Vangaziland in similar fashion as Alvarez would tap River 'Shark' Suzgar out of the way in Turn 4 to win by a narrow 0.007 second margin much as they had done in the penultimate race of NSSCRA Season 7. While each finish seemed to be a once-in-a-generation occurrence, they were each bested yet again by an even more tense, even closer deadlock at the stripe with Suzgar once again on the losing end of a Yeezie photo finish. With just 0.004 seconds separating the two drivers, however, one begins to wonder how long the Glorious Free Republic drivers can continue to claw out indecipherable victory margins with last gasp passes coming out of turn four before they get their timing wrong and miss out on victory lane entirely.

For Team Tropicorp, they will hope that Cocoabo #78 learned something from 3rd place that they can use to collect the teams first points victory later on during the stretch run of the eighth NSSCRA campaign.
