How should someone pick a president?(US)

So what rules, guidelines, and methods should someone use when researching and discerning between Presidential Candidates? Have any of you voted in a presidential election before? How did you make your decision? How should someone make such a decision? What mattered to you?

I would pick someone that has priorities for welfare, healthcare and education, someone who can be destined to be a great and influential political leader, knowing when to give in to pressure or whento stand ground, someone who understands the rhetoric of both the left and right and seamlessly combined the into a center. A guy that also knows the plight of the minority and the voice of the majority and finds a compromise that can make most people happy. A person who can balance their country with world priorities. Understanding of economic and military strategies and knowing when to use them. Someone who picks the best option for every single aspect of the nation by listening to everyone.

Health care: Does this candidate believe that health care is a right and does this candidate intend to push for single-payer as soon as they take office?

Foreign policy: Will this candidate refuse to bow to the military industrial complex's demand to wage imperialist wars? Can this candidate be counted on to not start a war with Iran, Venezuela, or any other country that hasn't attacked us? Will this candidate cut off financial and military aid to Saudi Arabia's genocide in Yemen?

Supreme Court: Will this candidate only nominate judges who would uphold reproductive rights and overturn Citizens United?

Drugs: Will this candidate try to have cannabis removed from schedule 1, will they respect the rights of states that have legalized cannabis, will they refuse to sign any bill which increases sentences for personal drug possession? Will their Attorney General not persecute state and city officials who implement harm reduction policies like safe injection sites?

Net Neutrality: Will this candidate make an effort to restore net neutrality?

Wages: Will this candidate make an effort to increase the federal minimum wage?

Immigration: Will this candidate reverse the new detention and family separation policies implemented under Trump?

Environment: Does this candidate recognize that climate change is an emergency and that we have to take immediate action to mitigate the damage?


I require a yes to all of these questions. That's my 'purity test', though I wouldn't call it that myself, I call it the most meagre standards possible for earning my vote.

How about spinning a roulette? Each candidate has a number. Or in two party system... black is for democrats, red is for republicans. Or, if ya' don't like roulette, one can roll good ol' dice. Each candidate has his number. A candidate map (Candidate's birthplace on US map) and a dart could do the trick too.

I have no plan on voting in the next election because both parties have terrible ideas and the few terrible ideas they'll actually enact (their worst ones) are the ones their corporate donors want, like open borders, foreign wars overseas and tax cuts for the wealthy.
