[Q]Allowing Rule-Breaking Content to be Edited?

Postby Torrocca » Fri Aug 23, 2019 3:50 am

So, in case it hadn't been guessed yet, my post title is referring to this thread in particular, where Saiwania was reported for violating the PG-13 rule put in place to protect minors from explicit content, like that of the reported post, and was given permission by a mod to simply edit out the rule-breaking content with not even a slap on the wrist. This is in spite of the fact that the rule-breaking content has already been quoted repeatedly and is thus still completely visible on the site. Seeing as how third-party appeals are deemed verboten, I'm posting a query on it (and the implications it brings up) instead.

Essentially, my question is, when exactly were we just allowed to receive mod permission to edit rule-breaking posts (particularly posts that's filled with sexually explicit content, of all things) in lieu of punishment for obvious rule-breaking behavior? That really makes the whole point of having warnings, bans, DEATs, and even a system of rules themselves all utterly worthless if we're just allowed to edit our rule-breaking posts now, well after they've been seen by numerous other people, quoted repeatedly, and even reported to moderation.

When they weren't actually rulebreaking, but just borderline.

... I'm sorry, but how exactly was... that... only a borderline violation of the PG-13 rule, exactly? That's literally the kind of phrase you'd find in an X-rated erotica, not any PG-13 writing.

Torrocca wants me to be deleted or banned for a long time. I get this. If it wasn't about this, it'd be about something else.

I implore that they not be listened to. While I have some minor penchant for rule breaking, if I got off easy for this- it is almost certainly a one time reprieve that I got, because I have no history of breaking this specific rule like might be the case for trolling or a few other rules that slip my mind so far as is relevant to my posting habits.

It was an oversight that I don't intend to let happen again so easily. If another Moderator didn't want to go for a ban, that is within their right is it not?

And with that, this thread is closed.

I would remind you that discussion/question threads cannot be used to attempt to have another go around with a ruling you disagree with. And yet with your second post in the thread, it becomes obvious that was what you were after.
