Sâlúbĕr Administration And The Convet Confirm That Sunrisia Will Be Adopting A New Constitution

Sunrisia is currently undergoing a special period in its’ national history that has become known as – the “Second Transition.” This is a reference to the “First Transition”, which up to the current time in Sunrisian history, was previously known simply as – the “Transition.” The “First Transition”, or just the “Transition” as it was known in the past, refers to a period in Sunrisian history when the country peacefully transitioned from a monarchy into a republic. The Kingdom of Sunrisia evolved into the Republic of Sunrisia, which today is sometimes referred to as the First Republic of Sunrisia. This transformation from one system into a completely different and a more modern one, as it was seen at the time, took place without any turbulence or a revolution. As mentioned before, for most of Sunrisian history, the period was referred to as the “Transition”, until the present day, when it was renamed into the “First Transition”, since Sunrisia has been undergoing a similar transformation yet again from one system into another.

The current period of the “Second Transition” dates back to the Revolution of Rebirth, although some would push it as far as the Sunrisian coup d'état, the establishment of the short-lived Absolute Democracy of Sunrisia and the resulting division into Western-aligned North and Eastern-aligned South. Most historians would agree that it would be better to date the beginning of the “Second Transition” back to the Sunrisian coup d'état, because that was when the Republic of Sunrisia, or the First Republic of Sunrisia, was overthrown and replaced with the Absolute Democracy of Sunrisia. The following break-up of the Absolute Democracy of Sunrisia into pro-republic North and pro-theocracy South, which was basically a direct successor of the Absolute Democracy, led to a period in Sunrisian history known by the names of – the Sunrisian Crisis, the Quasi-Civil War, the Division Period or even the “Cold Civil War.” These titles apply to that time period because of a stalemate existence of hostilities, eventual armed flair-ups and a state of consistent tension between North and South without a lot of actual direct fighting. The North and South were eventually both overthrown in the Revolution of Rebirth, which brought about Sunrisian reunification and the establishment of the Democratic Union of Sunrisia as a neutral state that was not allied neither with the West nor the South. The neutrality went as far as having a constitutional prohibition for Sunrisia to use military force overseas for combat, with exception for humanitarian non-combat missions. However, that prohibition was eventually lifted, yet non-alignment in relation to any power blocs or geopolitical alliances persisted.

The next phase of the “Second Transition” started when the Democratic Union of Sunrisia underwent a peaceful self-coup by the government at the time, when the Constitution of the Republic of Sunrisia, or again the First Republic of Sunrisia, was brought back. It was then that the Democratic Union of Sunrisia was replaced by the Provisional Republic of Sunrisia. During this period, the original Constitution of the Republic or the First Republic was soon replaced with a new one. A new Constitution was adopted, formally known as the Constitution of the Second Republic of Sunrisia. It was short-lived, because the Provisional Republic of Sunrisia, which was evolving into the Second Republic of Sunrisia, which was evolving into the Second Republic of Sunrisia, was peacefully overthrown by a growing Nationalist movement in the country. This led to the birth of the current isolationist Sunrisian state that we know and love today.

The current incarnation of the Sunrisian sovereign state did carry the term of the Second Republic for some time, but the state’s ideology of Neo-Isolationism and Self-Reliance that was adopted after the overthrow of the Provisional Republic, brought about the emergence of the present-day Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. However, the problem was that the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia has since existed under a Constitution which de jure does not formally represent it. The current Constitution has seen many amendments and new laws being added to it, but it still is a Constitution of Sunrisia’s old incarnation. Therefore, a national debate has been taking place on regarding the adoption of a new Constitution, which would officially be – the Constitution of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia.

Today, President Válîd Sâlúbĕr made an official statement from the Presidential Palace, which was also an address to the entire nation. The President officially confirmed that the Constitution of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia will be formally adopted very soon:

“The new Constitution will de jure represent the current incarnation of the Sunrisian state – the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, as a country that applies the term “nationalist” without any relation to xenophobia or supremacy, because Sunrisians will forever reject those views. Instead, the new Constitution will represent the Sunrisian state that is ideologically Neo-Isolationist, Self-Reliant, prioritizes sovereignty and does not support globalization. Rather than constantly editing an old Constitution from the past and from the previous Sunrisian state, it is time for the Nationalist Republic to have one of its’ own.”

Following the President’s address, the Convet has also confirmed the adoption of a new Constitution. Speaker of the Convet Prémăs Dîcéra and Sunrisian lawmakers have followed-up with their own confirmation of the adoption of a new Constitution, which supports the President’s previous declaration. The Convet will be voting on the adoption of the Constitution of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. The new Constitution will not make any changes to the duration and the amount of eligible presidential terms in office, which have been part of a recent public debate. The question of presidential terms would have to be settled via a referendum on the amendments to the new Constitution, whereas the Constitution of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia will be adopted without a referendum due to the citizens having already expressed their support for the move in other ways.

Party for Central Approach (PCA) and Social Liberal Party (SLP) to form a political alliance

Party for Central Approach (PCA) and Social Liberal Party (SLP) have announced that they will be forming a political alliance after all. The announcement was made by Second Vice President of the Council of States of the Daredi Confederation and member of PCA Daci Bauer. Fellow PCA member Fuglencio Brunner confirmed it too. Special Representative for Interactions with the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg and member of SLP Niklas Böhler made the announcement on behalf of his party. SLP colleagues Markus Thill and Tobias Schuster backed Böhler up.

Both opposition parties have debated the possibility of forming a political alliance in the past but were doubtful it would happen. PCA and SLP recognized their different leanings which would make it hard to agree on a lot of issues. PCA is hardcore centrist and sometimes centre-right while SLP is used to be centre-left but today is leaning far more left. And yet both parties have recognized that they are just not strong forces on the political field alone. PCA and SLP members do hold office in the current Daredi government for diversity and for doing better than expected in the last election. But they hold little chance of ever winning a governing majority especially on their own.PCA and SLP share many of the same problems and common interests which only makes it logical for them to come together in this fight. One of the goals that unites PCA and SLP is winning over Daredi public trust.

It seems that both parties were brought together by common fate. PCA and SLP have both lost their reputation with the citizens after failing or refusing to stop the Legion of Germanic Daredland (LGD) party from usurping power in Daredland. PCA and SLP were seen as conspiring together with LGD despite speaking out against LGD and its pro-Englean and pan-Germanic leanings in the past. That is when the opportunist nature of PCA and SLP started to shine. PCA and SLP were two big parties in the State Council of the Daredi Confederacy that supported a motion of no confidence against Chancellor Calvin Aigner and Vice Chancellor Felix Gudatan. They were two independent pro-Western Corentian politicians that would later go on to join the Western Corentian Nationalists of Daredland (WCND) party. The motion of no confidence was initiated by LGD. PCA and SLP backed the vote up and ousted Aigner and Gudatan from their posts. The now infamous Friedrich Schäfer succeeded from President of the State Council to Chancellor of Daredland. As a member of a minority LGD party Schäfer did not have a mandate hold either of these high posts. But LGD used the flaws in Daredland’s previous flawed constitution to get to the top. The Daredi government under Chancellor Friedrich Schäfer immediately started leaning eastwards and embraced pan-Germanism. PCA and SLP parties had comfortable positions in this pro-Englean government. The Flaming Revolution began soon after and the rest of the history is known.

PCA and SLP had a falling out with the public in the new era of Daredi politics. They became opposition parties that often took a populist stance and criticized the PLFWCD-led government on every step. This worked for both parties when the PLFWCD-led government lost public trust over alleged corruption and snap elections were declared. PCA and SLP were cheered on for their stance against the corrupt PLFWCD-led government and supporting the public demand for snap elections. In those very elections PCA and SLP both did better than expected and their members today hold office in the LPM-led government. So partially PCA and SLP have made a big step in their reconciliation with the public even if they are accused of flip-flopping and populism. It appears to be a strategy working for both.

Now the two parties will be forming a political alliance that doesn’t have a name yet. They mentioned that different leanings might cause problems but they will try to find middle ground. PCA and SLP are in agreement on foreign policy. They both support the popular pro-Western Corentian course of Daredland’s full membership in MDAA and SOWEFTA. They also support the popular course of upholding Daredi territorial integrity by returning territories by occupied by the Weniges Reich and the Hasperan Republic. PCA and SLP have opened the doors into their political alliance and said that other Daredi parties are welcome to join so that this new union could be strengthened and diversified.

BREAKING NEWS: GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

Last night, Executive Minister Susan Polster and Congressional leaders agreed to shutdown the federal government. "This shutdown was a long time coming. After months of recession following the Sunrisian Nuclear Crisis, shifting of alliances, costly government projects, and grave uncertainty, I'm afraid that the public simply has lost confidence in our economy and the government is going bankrupt. We simply cannot afford to keep the government open until a solution is found, which I why after this meeting, I'm flying out of my own pocket to the VU in an attempt to sort this out and return us to normal life." Polster said just before signing the Government Shutdown and Reserve of Money Act of 2019 thus ordering a government shutdown and the closure of almost all government facilities, including some essential services like air traffic controllers, the Layfetian National Guard, and the Layfetian Secret Service.

The Layfetian economic aid bill in the Ventismarian Union is facing harsh criticism and is unlikely to pass, which further presses the issue. The International Libfray Reserve Bank of Layfet called an emergency meetings of its sister banks and other private and national banks to ILRB's headquarters in Libra, Librira on June 20th and still haven't come up with a solution, and with news of the shutdown, they may have to rethink their strategy.

The shutdown begins tomorrow, and will shut down most major governmental agencies, causing as much as 82,000 employees to go home and about 12,000 employees to work without pay with no guarantee that reimbursements will be paid to the combined 94,000 employes once the government shutdown lifts.

Leaving only the Department of Health and the Department of the Treasury the only fully operational governmental agencies not affected by the shutdown, both of which including exemptions will still be funded by taxes, with any left over tax dollars being saved.

While well into the recession, which has already affected economic growth. The shutdown will hurt the economy even still and could reduce gross domestic product, economic output, trade, etc. with true costs being uncertain. Unemployment will be massive and there is no solution. The Government Company Management Agency said that if the shutdown lasts more then a month, the government will begin to sell its state owned companies like Air Layfet and National Motor Works to the highest bidder regardless if it is a public or private actor. The only government owned company to shut down so far is LayTours.

Critical International Services will be fulfilled by generous international actors, the Rhodeve government will for example take over ATC services and Capsland will still be providing for the nation's defense. The Layfetian White Shield will be staffed by Ninan Islander and Kohharuese citizens.

Congress will meet on August 28th in order to discuss options.

Libfray Joint Bank Meets in Libra, Layfetian Economy Offer Cause for Concern

The largest meeting of its kind continues in the Libfray Bank Headquarters, just off April Square. Late last month, representatives from the Layfet Libfray Banks, came to Libra to discuss raising the production limit allowed to Layfetian banks. However, as the weeks have dragged on, and the situation between the VU, Kiez, and Layfet continues to become more and more twisted, the representatives have remained to discuss possible measures to be taken. The international situation as well as the Layfetian government shutdown, have brought uncertainty to the economy, the Layfetian stock market has dropped nearly 500 points over the past 2 weeks. The Libriran Syndicate Trading Index reports a drop of nearly 300 points, due to fears Layfet may drag the country into a recession.

Information on the meeting is limited, due to security concerns. However, its been reported the bank is considering increasing printing allowances, lowering interest rates, and even removing large amounts of notes from circulation to attempt and stabilize the currency and hopefully prop up the economy. Already, though the Joint Bank did announce it would require higher standards and credit history for potential borrowers. This requirement goes into effect at the beginning of the next business day, and is estimated to affect a potential million + hopeful borrowers.

The Libfray Joint Bank is expecting to continue discussions into next week. The ongoing discussions have already taken their toll. Uncertainty has already led the Secretariat of Statistics and Oversight to lower its GDP estimates for the rest of the year, and several syndicates have already had to recall expansion contracts. A Collective Of Sunrisian Presidential Administration Officials And Cabinet Ministers Jointly Go To Creperia On A Grand Official Visit

A large Sunrisian delegation has departed for an official visit to Creperia. Prime Minister Terr Ciramān of Creperia was recently on an official visit to Sunrisia, where he met President Válîd Sâlúbĕr, Vice President Amíc Fútûra, Minister of International Relations Edén Sȏlítûdá, Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér, National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên, Minister of Finance and Economic Development Díva Plénâta, members of the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce, and Sunrisian lawmakers at the Convet. It was now time for members of the Sâlúbĕr administration to get acquainted with the rest of the new government of Creperia via an official visit of the delegation to Sunrisia’s northern neighbor.

The primary goal is for the Sunrisian government to finish developing a relationship with the new government of Creperia led by Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists. Officials from the Sâlúbĕr administration and the Cabinet of Ministers will be meeting their new Creperian counterparts and Creperian parliamentarians in the National Assembly of Creperia. GRAND MARSHALL CALLS FOR "CLEAR ACTION" AGAINST RECENT RIVER POLLUTION CAUSED BY SLAVIC FARMERS

Kashiwa, Akina- Recent expeditions by the Union's national agricultural ministry have confirmed the numerous complaints of Akinac citizens. These complaints, coming mostly in the Slavic regions have brought up issues of dirty water, and polluted rivers full of dangerous chemicals. At a recent press conference the Grand Marshall discussed this report with a reporter from Akina TV24, a popular TV station.

Has the recent reports of river pollution been brought to you? Secondly, has your government drafted a plan of action to deal with whoever is causing this, and investigations into who?

Yes, as the protector of the nation I am indeed aware of these issues. It is quite sad, and enraging how even in this day and age some put themselves over the national interest, hurting their fellow countrymen. Slav, Turk, or Japonic I want everyone to know Akina is one united union, united as one against those who seek to hurt us. My government promptly opened investigations as soon as we learned about this issue. The agricultural minister told us that farmers overusing Ventismarian pesticides were the cause of this, with soil runoff seeping into the rivers. This is absolutely unacceptable and the hammer of justice will not wait to strike, or be light. The relevant authorities have already began relief efforts and we hope to pour in money to improve the water supply. For now I advise all Akinac citizens in affected areas to drink bottled water, stay away from rivers until the issue is resolved. The government will also not tolerate conspiratorial reporting that seeks to de-legitimize our great nation.

The governments call for action brings a sigh of relief to many, suffering the consequences of a lack of clean water. The regional authorities have already begun recovery efforts working with farmers to reduce water runoff, and clean the river. Many citizens have called these efforts a great success, bringing immediate relief to an anxious and weary populous. One old lady Akina Shinbum talked to said the following.

The authorities have been very helpful in the current ordeal. Bottled water is coming in, students from far far away of all ethnic groups are coming to help, and my family can still drink. Thank god for our government, giving such help to the Akinac people.

The government has already announced the arrests of a few farmers, and across social media stats have already been shared many times over the reduction in the use of harmful pesticides. It has also brought the need for Akina to look more closely at anti pollution efforts. A monument to be built in Silcenda dedicated to the South Baggnagian–Sunrisian Alliance

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Municipality of Silcenda announced that a grand monument will be built in the capital to celebrate the South Baggnagian–Sunrisian Alliance. What kind of a monument it will be has not been specified. Designers and architects are providing various ideas and the one that best symbolizes the bond will be chosen. Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt called the Alliance vital to the very existence of South Baggnagia and its freedom. Chairman said that South Baggnagian generations must know and remember this by glancing upon an honorary physical representation of the Alliance at the nation’s capital. It cannot be said when this monument would be built because it will all depend on when the design will be chosen and what kind of design of the monument will be chosen. The Congress hopes that the Sunrisian President, whomever he or she might be at the time of the monument’s opening, could be present at the ceremony personally.

Chairman Gustav Feldt slammed North Baggnagian leader Marshal Jan Tillich for calling South Baggnagia: “Sunrisian Satellite South (SSS)”, but also used irony in his response:

The North Baggnagian leadership can insult our government all they want. They are calling us a colonial government controlled from abroad. We don’t really care about that because we know what the reality is. It’s all just part of the state propaganda up in the North. The Marshal tries to attack us while disassociating our citizens from the Congress of National Sovereignty. In Sunrisia, the news have been met with much appreciation and humbleness, including thankfulness to the people of South Baggnagia for their appreciation of Sunrisia’s effort to help the far-away country. However, those are not the only news related to South Baggnagia. General Pártên Câstódél, who is the Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and its’ sub-division Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN), has been talking about the upcoming conclusion of his service in the position. That day is approaching and General Câstódél has been prepared to transfer his duties over to a successor. The Department of Security has confirmed that the successor of General Câstódél would be General Emér Pârsīná, who will be taking over as the new Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and its’ sub-division Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN).

General Pártên Câstódél stated that he would be transferring the position of the Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and its’ sub-division Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN) to his successor General Emér Pârsīná after the current round of “non-drill” training for South Baggnagian soldiers by Sunrisian instructors, is completed.

General Câstódél has later issued the following statement:

“I know that temporarily taking some of South Baggnagian soldiers to training bases in Sunrisia was done for the purpose of training them in a completely different environment for experience sake and for “a change of pace.” However, I would recommend bringing that back to South Baggnagia as soon as possible or definitely sooner than planned, because their priority is to learn on their home soil only and to feel most comfortable on it, because the primary potential enemy is next door.

As for my upcoming departure from the position of the Commander of Sunrisian Forces – South Baggnagia (SFSB) and its’ sub-division Sunrisian Army – Neodvisni (SAN), I will probably say more on that on the actual day when it happens. Until then, I just want to say that General Emér Pârsīná is a fine and respected officer and one of the newer generation of commanding and high-ranking officers in the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF). I am confident that the General will do a job even better than I did. Off-topic, I really want to return to Sunrisia, because I want to be in my homeland on the day when we adopt the new Constitution. Lianghang - The Donghai Ministry of Agriculture announced today an ambitious program to industrialize and modernize the agricultural sector of the country. The plan calls for an investment of $10 billion per year for a period of 10 years, totaling $100 billion in real terms. Donghai agriculture is characterized for being very underdeveloped and split into hundreds of thousands of small farms. The situation makes it difficult to achieve good levels of efficiency and modernization resulting in Donghai missing out on the true potential of the sector. In other words, despite being a big sector in relative terms across the world, the sector lags behind every other major economy.

The ambitious plan, therefore, aims at not only increasing the sector's efficiency but also at modernizing it. According to the Agriculture Ministry, the goal is for Donghai to secure a stable food supply for its growing population without relying too much on foreign suppliers - a situation that could be deemed as precarious for national security. To High Government Officials, if in the future the country becomes a large food importer it would create an Achilles' Heel that its rivals could exploit. Moreover, the Ministry has voiced its interest in becoming the breadbasket of Ophion Continent and perhaps beyond. The surplus could be sold abroad in the global market, helping to increase the country's exports and encouraging further diversification in the country's export offerings. During times of hardship (for instance a drought) the extra surplus would instead become a production buffer to attempt to avoid a shortage of food in the nation.

When asked how realistic it was for Donghai to export large quantities of agricultural products in the world market, Agriculture Minister Chloe Liang answered that the "Donghai Government would seek to establish trade relations with other nations and sign different deals separately. The goal is to reach directly to the customer and gain privileged rights to sell our products and in exchange, we would provide price incentives and push downstream the savings." The Minister also highlighted that by improving the quality of agricultural products in the nation the Donghai people would generally see better quality choices improving their diets. Finally, the injection of new capital to the sector seeks to revitalize the economies of provinces that mostly depend on agriculture and that lag behind in development and wealth.

Technical Details:

The Ministry of Agriculture provided details on how this 10-year plan would work. Dr. Chloe Liang stated that the government would take advantage of the plan to also develop the financial industry in this sector by diverting most of the plan's funding to the Agricultural Bank of Donghai-Rongguo (ABD). By doing so, this banking entity would receive a tremendous boost to its business plan. At the same time, by strengthening the agricultural sector this bank should see a great potential for growth and development in the long term. Although state-owned, the ABD will operate like a private entity and be headed by a technocratic administration, free from client politics and special interests.

On the more technical side, the program aims at providing microloans and government-sponsored loans (at low interest rates) to farmers across the country in order to acquire new equipment, more land, upgrade their infrastructure and/or receive education in the trade. Considering that farming industrial equipment is expensive and out of reach to many, the Ministry announced that the ABD would create the appropriate channels where a group of farmers can pool resources while simultaneously being able to access easy, cheap credit with the goal of acquiring this equipment.

To make this plan possible, the Donghai Government reached out to government of Lind for help. According to Dr. Liang, this equipment will be purchased directly by the Government and be made available to Donghai farmers for purchase at a 10% discount rate through the ABD. In order to avoid hoarding or the misuse of this equipment, only farms or cooperatives that fulfill certain requirements (e.g. the necessary education certificates and a viable business plan for instance) will be able to purchase it. Technicians from the former colonial nation will help in the training process in order to make sure that the Donghai industry actually knows how to use the equipment. The Agriculture Ministry further stated that this deal would be important specially in the first half of the plan as the Government would acquire the necessary equipment for farms and cooperatives to operate. Eventually, the Donghai Government would set up special think-tanks to develop the country's own line of farming equipment that is specifically designed to meet the unique terrain of the country.

The Ministry will have access to the technology and expertise of the Lindian agricultural sector. This includes the hiring of consultants who will help to identify the best crops and farming techniques for each specific region in the country. Along the way, it is expected that Donghai consultants and experts will be able to gain the necessary knowledge to continue this work beyond the 10 years this plan lasts. Lastly, the Donghai Government will set up special education agreements where qualified farmers would travel to study farming-related majors, paid for by the Agriculture Ministry, who then would come back to the country to apply their knowledge in the sector.

Despite its Size, Donghai Agricultural Sector is Technologically Backwards

The 10-Year Plan was structured with market economics in mind. In order to avoid the mistakes of forced agricultural industrialization of the past the Ministry is using tax incentives and subsidies to reduce the number of farms and increase their average size. The ones who stand to benefit the most is those who decide to come together and create communes since the government offers the largest tax incentives and subsidies. Farmers with an entrepreneurial spirit stand to benefit the second most. Although they will not receive as many tax incentives and subsidies, their gain is bigger than farmers who prefer to continue farming the old way. In short, the plan is designed to make a smooth transition in the sector without disrupting the food supply, says Dr. Liang.

Agriculture Minister Liang highlighted the Plan's focus on technology, innovation and peaceful coexistence with the environment. Thanks to the Lindian expertise, the nation will be able to pinpoint what crop to grow where, what lay out is the most efficient and least environmentally degrading and the best practices to preserve soil quality. Natural pest control is a strategy that will also be encouraged as a way to reduce the use of chemical pesticides that could contaminate the nation's rivers. Additionally, these consultants will also help in the creation of an industry that can supply natural fertilizers and provide the know-how on ways to utilize more effectively artificial fertilizers (where that's the only efficient choice) in order to reduce the amount used. Finally, Lindian consultancy will also focus on training and educating Honghaian experts on how to recognize the best traits and conditions of each location they visit. This includes the planting density in a field, the timing of fertilizer application and the quantity of said application.

Along with Lindian expertise the Agriculture Ministry also signed important contracts with software and drone companies from the Ventismarian nation. These companies will help develop simulation programs and artificial intelligence capabilities in order to better take care of the crops. By predicting what kind of disease or pest the crop will be affected with allows farmers to better take care of the plants. This kind of capability also allows farmers to know what is going on with the crops even if they can't detect it with their own naked eyes, and even supply the exact amount of water and fertilizer needed based on those conditions. All of this combined gives the Honghaian farmer a more powerful tool to effectively manage their crops and significantly increase output yields. The use of drones is to aid Honghaian farmers take care of their crops and reduce human contact as much as possible. These drones can help in planting, watering or even harvesting depending on the specific needs of each geographical area. The long-term goal (beyond the plan's scope) is to fully automate farming with a main control group in charge of even bigger swaps of land.

Finally, according to Minister Liang, the Agriculture Ministry will provide training and financial advice to farmers who wish to expand their farms or create cooperatives. The process or even the terms could be very confusing for people who are not experts in the field, thus according to the Minister, "it would be a challenge that could put many off from this opportunity." The workshops also inform the farmer(s) about the different fiscal benefits that each option has and the best strategy for their desired goals. At the other end of the spectrum, the Agriculture Ministry will also guide farms and cooperatives in the selling of their products by creating business forums each semester. In addition, it will help farmers/cooperatives to offer their products in the Shangwon Mercantile Exchange (SME) so that they can sell their goods to different parts of the nation or even the world.

With that being said I am here to announce that as of 6:45 PM Imperial Standard time that the Socialist Republic of Kiez formally and officially declares that a state of open war now exists with the Demitorian National Union."

The announcement was immediately followed by a chorus of cheers from the amassed crowd of people who had been present for the announcement from Parliament earlier today as a small contingent of the 3rd Fleet which had been stationed at Port Zeitlöw prior to the Assassination of Chancellor Maxis departed the port alongside a group of auxiliary vessels bound for international waters earlier this evening. While yet to be confirmed by the Joint Chiefs, it appears that this contingent is bound for the Ludvig Maxis Naval Base located in the lle Du Fleurs.

Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia cancels planned referendum after protests

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – The Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia has voted to cancel the planned referendum comparing the defense pact with Sunrisia and MDAA membership. The decision was made after a widespread national protest against the referendum as something redundant. The Congress announced the referendum 10 days ago. Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt supported the referendum because he said that South Baggnagians had originally voted to join MDAA a while back. But after the military bloc became regional and would expand beyond Corentia, South Baggnagia was left without a possibility to join. South Baggnagia was compensated by signing a Mutual Defense Treaty with Sunrisia which is almost as good as MDAA membership. But Chairman Feldt thought that the Congress should make sure if South Baggnagians were satisfied with the current existing alternative or if South Baggnagia should negotiate something with MDAA. Today the opposition and public pressure has made the Congress reverse their decision. In a formal vote the Congress cancelled the referendum. Chairman Gustav Feldt has too reversed his personal opinion and no longer sees the referendum as necessary.

The anti-referendum voices said that the MDAA membership referendum was held at different times and South Baggnagia has since got an equally good defense deal. Referendums are not without monetary expenses and organizing them too takes time. The protesters against the referendum suggested that Congress look at public opinion polls that show citizen satisfaction with the Mutual Defense Treaty and don’t see a need in integration with the whole MDAA. If new polls are conducted, the results will probably be the same, say activists. Another point made is that South Baggnagia held not only an MDAA membership referendum but also a Ventismarian integration referendum. By the Congress logic a repeat referendum on Ventismarian integration would have to be held too. At the time, South Baggnagians voted in support of Ventismarian integration but South Baggnagia has since change course. The Congress of National Sovereignty came to power and South Baggnagia chose an individual path without integrating anywhere. This approach along with the Congress itself are supported by the South Baggnagian public. The opinion polls show that too. So hold a referendum on the Ventismarian question would be a waste of time too. Either two repeat referendums on the MDAA and Ventismarian integration question would need to be held or neither.

The Congress of National Sovereignty has upheld the public call to save time and money on unnecessary and redundant referendums because the South Baggnagian society has reversed course since.

In a way this is the settling of the question that I was looking for. We have finally closed this debate and put the issue to rest. The protesters are right by reminding us that we already know our people's opinion. With that out of the way, the government can now fully concentrate our attention on the economy and North Baggnagia which is what our citizens are demanding from us.

Premier Kai Algren Makes First Public Appearance Since Being Sworn-In as Premier.

Premier Kai Algren recently took the podium in the People's National Council following the latter's restructuring following the ousting of Former-Premier Mikkelsen's ousting from power. While the Premier would normally have taken the podium once officially taking office, the political turmoil currently gripping the country has delayed his introductory speech. With the Eikangaard United Socialist Republic still recovering from the extended period of riots the precluded the end of the Mikkelsen Administration, the new Premier took the time to distance himself from his predecessor during his speech.

"People of Eikangaard," Said Mr. Algren. "I come before you today to formally take my position as Premier of the Eikangaard United Socialist Republic. I only wish it were under better circumstances. Over the past few months, we have found ourselves in the crosshairs of much of Ventismar and the world. Our brothers and sisters in the south of Eikangaard, under the rule of the Republic of Eikangaard, have turned against us, threatening war. The Ventismarian Union has cut us off and has made it nearly impossible for us to export or import from outside the continent. Our economy is weakening. And our ally in Kiez has found itself under assault by opponents both near and far. Our backs are against the wall.

But we have faced many hardships in the recent past. We fought for our right to create a nation free of the corruption and exploitation that marked the old monarchy’s rule. We fought to secure our institutions and our rights against those who would seek only to pervert them for their personal gain. We have overcome both these challenges, and we shall overcome those that still lie ahead of us.

I cannot promise that my tenure as premier will be smooth or filled with joy and happiness. The situation we find ourselves in makes that all but a far-off dream. I cannot even promise results, as I am but one man who faces a great uphill battle. But I can promise you, that with the powers you have invested in me, that I will fight. I will fight for you. I will fight for our ideals. I will fight for our future.

To this end, I plan to launch a diplomatic mission to the Ventismarian Union and the Republic of Eikangaard with the hope of finding a peaceful resolution to the unfortunate reality we find ourselves in. I hope to end the threats against our nation, to open avenues of trade to our allies abroad. To take the first step in building our brighter future.

A lot of news has been coming out of Eikangaard recently. How can it not? Depending on who you ask, the territory is about to go to war or enter another period of civil war. Tensions are mounting. The VU and Kiez are locking horns over who will control the territory, and political upheavals seem to be happening almost daily. It's gotten so bad that most people just accept it as a part of life now. What batsh*t world do we live in where that's a reality?

But, if we're being honest, that's not really what we're here to talk about today.

We're here to talk about the craziness going on in Eikangaard, yes, but more how it's affected one state in particular. We've all seen the changes going on the Eikangaard United Socialist Republics, or how most people like to call them "Commie Country". But we haven't really seen coverage of the changes taking place in the Republic of Eikangaard.

Over the last few years, the burgeoning Republic has rapidly begun to remilitarize. Massive recruitment campaigns across the country have seen the Armed Forces grow from a force of 400,000 active troops across all branches to just shy of 700,000. That's a growth of about 75% over the last two years. That's nothing to sneeze at. A lot of public works programs have seen their budgets cut dramatically, along with Health and Education services, ostensibly to free up funds to pour into the armed forces and equip all those new soldiers.

Honestly, that's to be expected for a country that's facing an aggressive neighbor that's more than willing to pump more cash into its own army.

Yet despite all those cuts, business is booming in the southern Eikan state. A relaxation of import taxes attracted a lot of business in the Republic's early days, especially from Rezuan and Rhodeve companies. And now with the Republic entering the VU common market and a further relaxation of import taxes expected in the near future, many are predicting that the fortunes of the common citizen are about to improve. More job opportunities, better pay, more cash on the table.

All of this thanks to President Albinson and his True North Party. Taking over the Presidency after the late Lina Tamber, our President has clamped down hard on terrorist activities. More police patrol the streets, forcing those jerks to...I dunno go home and mix a batch? He's negotiated down all these trade barriers with the VU and managed to rally much of the world to his side in taking on the EUSR. Not that it was that hard...

So things are all good, right? The Prez is doing a good job and we're all about to get filthy stinkin' rich, right?

Well, there's been a bit of a pattern emerging with our dear ol' President over his tenure in office. Most of the scandals that have come out of the Republican Government have seemed to benefit him one way or another. The Assassination of Lina Tamber? Got him into office in the first place. The scandal involving EUSR sympathizers in the Republican Senate? Got the True North Party to hold a 61% majority in the Senate, despite having only earned 31% of the vote last election. Those terrorists that still crop up from time to time? Sure they target everyone in office, yet when they do succeed in harming our public servants, it's usually someone who's come out critical of the Prez at some point.

Now I'm not saying that the President is deliberately manipulating events to suit his own ends. I don't have enough evidence to conclusively prove it. The man might just be insanely lucky that all thee things turned out in his favor for all I know. I'm just saying that it's a trend I noticed. All that being said, considering that a lot of his measures seem to be increasingly authoritarian, if justifiable considering the circumstances, it might be time to cast our President and our Government in a more critical eye. After all, our country was founded on the principles of freedom and democracy for all. That means it's our job to hold our public servants accountable for their actions.

I just hope that I'm wrong about a man who's done so much to lead us in these trying times.

This whole day Creperians have been casting ballots in the presidential election. The voting has not ended yet. The presidential election will be another decisive race because it will show if Creperia will have a consolidated government or internally divided and forced to balance each other out. The parliamentary majority in the National Assembly is held by Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists. The office of the President is held by Acting President Ninn Ālgora who is from Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists. But Creperians can easily elect someone from outside the majority coalition and choose a President who is an Independent or outside the party.

According to analysts, a partisan President outside the parliamentary majority and from a different party would create a divided government. That would not be beneficial for Creperia because the new government has sworn to stop the political crisis started under the previous government. For that tough process to happen maximum consolidation is needed. Stopping a political crisis could be tough even for a consolidated government. A president and parliament from different camps would make the process even tougher. The worst news for the parliamentary majority would be if Creperians elected a partisan politician from another party. In that case the President and the National Assembly would probably clash a lot. Neither would be able to get things effectively done and especially not solving the political crisis. Even an Independent would not be good for the parliamentary majority because an Independent could be indecisive and unpredictable. In some case, that would make an Independent even worse than a partisan candidate because with a partisan candidate the majority would at least know what to expect. It is also already clear that Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists is not interested in working with Independents if they don’t have to. The coalition demonstrated that unwillingness by immediately voting Karr Gaudēl out of the presidential office, when they came to power. The danger for the country in case of an outsider President, is not just the stagnation in solving the political crisis. The danger is that the parliamentary majority could be interested in taking powers away from the presidential office even more so than now. This would make the parliament even more dominant in Creperia than now which would make the government depend on one majority coalition. The checks and balances could be undermined. Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists say they are confident that a candidate from one of their coalition parties would win because of the coalition’s popularity with voters.

Interestingly enough, the presidential election in Creperia is happening at the same time as the government hosts a large Sunrisian Delegation in Miraya, the capital. They have come to Creperia for a week-long visit. Minister of International Relations Edén Sȏlítûdá, Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér, National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên, Minister of Finance and Economic Development Díva Plénâta, and representatives of the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce. These are the officials making up the Sunrisian Delegation. They came here to meet their new local counterparts and discuss the further advancement of relations in all major areas. Prime Minister Terr Ciramān is leading the hosting of guests after having been in Sunrisia himself not too long ago to meet with all these Sunrisian officials. It was now time for the rest of the Creperian government to meet them too.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt to testify before the Congress of National Sovereignty on diplomacy problems with North Baggnagia

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – When North Baggnagia experienced cyber-attacks against itself it immediately jumped to blaming South Baggnagia and South Baggnagian ally Sunrisia. The accusations were made without proof and the blame was simply made against nations that are primary adversaries of the North. After cyber-attacks North Baggnagian leader Marshal Jan Tillich started making ambiguous threats to retaliate. His tough and aggressive tone immediately distinguished Tillich from his late predecessor Chief of State Fran Hapenic. South Baggnagian troops are being trained by Sunrisian instructors right now to send a political message. But before that a diplomatic approach was taken first. Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt offered diplomatic talks even if South Baggnagia was at fault of the cyber-attacks. The talks would have been made not so much at excusing South Baggnagia but constructively prove that there was no involvement from South Baggnagia in the attacks. The Minister offered that he and South Baggnagian diplomats meet at one of the border Joint Security Areas with North Baggnagian diplomats to clarify the misunderstanding. Later Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt offered to meet with Marshal Jan Tillich at one of the Joint Security Areas to settle things. Those diplomatic talks haven’t happened yet and probably will not happen because of North Baggnagian stonewalling.

The head of South Baggnagian diplomacy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt will be testifying before the Congress of National Sovereignty on the topic of diplomacy with North Baggnagia. The Congress will access if the failures with diplomacy are purely the fault of the North Baggnagian aggressive leadership or if the South Baggnagian diplomacy is failing somewhere too. Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt has acknowledged that this hearing could be not only a simple hearing but an evaluation of his tenure of as the head diplomat. The Minister is open to the possibility that the Congress may decide to remove him from the position and replace him with a more effective Minister of Foreign Affairs. It remains to be seen what the Congress will focus on.

The votes have been counted and the results are in. The confidence of Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists in their candidate has apparently paid off. Creperians have elected a member of the governing majority as the country’s next President. Jall Cvīcli won presidency with 64% of the vote in his favor against opponents. This percentage makes Jall Cvīcli the President-elect immediately without a need for a second round. Jall Cvīcli is a member of the fairly new political party the Creperian Blue Flame (CBF) which is part of the Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists coalition, a governing majority. Cvīcli has defeated a large list of opponents which there were many, even if there were candidates who had dropped out of the race during the campaign. Cvīcli still had a lot of opponents to go up against and he ended up on top. How surprising is this result to the population is hard to say because opinion polls during the campaign always had him as the frontrunner.

Supporters are celebrating the victory of their candidate, while the rest of Creperia is happy to have an elected President again, which they actually look favorably towards. Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists are the true winners here because they have now consolidated power as they had hoped. This means that Creperia will not be paralyzed by inter-government fighting or a president vs. parliament scenario. Of course, there is a risk of inter-coalition fighting, but all parties of Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists say they put the cause above any possible differences that parties could have. The victory of President-elect Jall Cvīcli is seen as a victory of the governing majority but Opposition Alliance – New Nationalists that this is a victory of all Creperians, even those who voted for other candidates. Prime Minister Terr Ciramān said that the result of this presidential election has already automatically put an end to the political crisis. He said that this was a revolution and that every Creperian will benefit from it, no matter their political views.

Acting President Ninn Ālgora congratulated the coalition colleague on winning presidency. Ālgora is preparing to turn over the presidential chair to elected President Jall Cvīcli after he’s inaugurated.

Parliament Debates Offering Closer Integration To Oblaren

Vesvai’s Parliament has been debating an interesting idea recently that is related to Vesvai’s relations with Oblaren. MPs are thinking if it would be possible to create a closer two-state supranational union between Vesvai and Oblaren. Both nations share similar history of colonization and independence from larger neighbors right above them. Vesvaians and Oblarenites also share cultural ties. It is no secret that Vesvai considers Oblaren a fraternal nation so Vesvai’s politicians have been throwing an idea around if Vesvai and Oblaren could get closer and “live together” like family or relatives.

This is not the first hint at such an idea by Vesvai’s politicians. There has been a previous initiative from Vesvai’s side to integrate Vesvai and Oblaren closer militarily. Both nations were discussing a plan to create a joint military taskforce with the suggested names of the Oblaren–Vesvai Brigade, the Oblaren–Vesvai Corps, the Oblaren–Vesvai Force, the Oblaren–Vesvai Taskforce and the Obvasi. It even appears that an agreement to create such a joint taskforce was reached but its actual existence in practice is in question. Vesvai’s government said that such a taskforce would not only integrate Vesvai and Oblaren but also be a bridge uniting ROVAA and the Rhodeve Commonwealth. Vesvai and Oblaren are both members of ROVAA but Vesvai is additionally a member of the Rhodeve Commonwealth. A taskforce like that would automatically be something that both organizations share.

Vesvai’s Parliament says that time right now is not only to officially for Vesvai to offer Oblaren to creation of a joint military taskforce. Vesvai could also offer Oblaren the creation of a dual supranational union of both nations without necessarily merging them into a single state. ROVAA presently is the only thing that integrates Vesvai and Oblaren together with the exception of a military taskforce that exists on paper. Vesvai’s government thinks that both nations could go a step further.

Minister of Defense Vojtech Wylem Betnar will also testify before the Congress of National Sovereignty

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt is preparing to testify before the Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia. As the head diplomat in the nation the Minister will be questioned on the problems of diplomacy with North Baggnagia. He acknowledged that the hearings may also be an indictment of his tenure as foreign minister if the Congress finds it that he hasn’t had full control of the situation. But Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt will not be the only one speaking at the Congress. Minister of Defense Vojtech Wylem Betnar said he has also been called to Congress to testify on the topic of national security, military capacity, North Baggnagian aggression and various more. The two officials have been singled out of the cabinet because of their areas being the most important in South Baggnagia today apart from the economy. But Minister of Defense Vojtech Wylem Betnar and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt have also served in the previous government of South Baggnagia before the Congress took over. A conspiracy has been born that the hearings are actually disguised prosecutions of both officials and their work which might lead to both of them later getting booted by Congress. The conspiracy is not supported by anything apart from the dislike of the Congress towards the previous government of South Baggnagia.

Daredland facing issues with the question of demarcation with the break-away Hasperan Republic

The Daredi Confederation virtually has no diplomatic process going on concerning the reintegration of territories occupied by the Weniges Reich. Any negotiations on that would require direct talks with the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg because the Daredi government refuses to directly negotiate with the Weniges separatist leadership and give them legitimacy. The Weniges situation is frozen and all that is happening today is the Daredi Konfoderaleswehr being stationed at a heavily militarized demarcation line and holding a cease-fire with the Weniges militia. Together with the Weniges militia could possibly be Englean troops on the other side. The only lively processes happening around the Weniges Reich is Daredi troops helping people cross over from the Weniges Reich into the rest of Daredland. The situation is not moving forward in any other way but being the devil’s advocate the Daredi government believes that the foreign occupying power or powers are sustaining the occupied territories for the time being.

The situation is different with the other break-away entity in Daredland and that is the Hasperan Republic in the far west. Unlike the Weniges separatist leadership the self-proclaimed Hasperan leadership has no foreign backing and therefore direct negotiations between the Daredi central government and the Hasperan separatist leadership are more available. That does not make the Hasperan leadership any less brutal. The public execution of opposition by gunfire in one the main city squares is still fresh in many minds. But the lack of foreign backing for the Hasperan leadership, their secession not being an armed one and there being no known foreign forces being there still makes it more possible to directly negotiate with the Hasperan separatists. The Weniges separatists have been more stubborn in their determination to either exist as an unrecognized independent state or join the Englean state. The Hasperan leadership has been more ambiguous about this and threw hints of interest of returning to Daredland on some kind of terms.

The last breakthrough reached in negotiations with the Hasperan Republic was an agreement on the flow of humanitarian aid to the Hasperan Republic via shipments and aerial transport. Additionally the Hasperan leadership has also promised not to forbid people to leave the territory for the rest of Daredland or for emigration to Edereon. But now there is a new suggestion being made for these negotiations and that would be to create a temporary border and customs-like demarcation between the Hasperan Republic and the rest of Daredland. Unlike the demarcation line with the Weniges Reich this one would not be a militarized one because there was no armed conflict in Hasperan break-away. The border-like demarcation between the Hasperan Republic and the rest of Daredland would allow for humanitarian and development aid to flow into the territory by land instead of a semi-blockade existing. This suggestion has caused some rift among Daredi officials.

Confederal Minister of Reintegration and Reconciliation of the Daredi Confederation Franz Potesinan had a meeting on the issue with Confederal Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced People of the Daredi Confederation Andrea Färber and Confederal Minister of Home Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Karl Weiß. Potesinan openly admitted to the other two that he felt like he was being put in a tough spot with this suggestion. He expressed the risk that agreeing on a demarcation with the Hasperan Republic could be like walking into a trap because it could be the first unintended step towards giving the Hasperan Republic greater independence. Potesinan says it would be almost like half-way recognizing that independence. Fellow party member Färber supported the colleague’s concerns while Weiß thought that Potesinan was exaggerating and said that the possibility must be considered.

Potesinan was criticized by fellow party colleagues and his electorate for not taking a tougher and more firm stance on the issue like he used to do throughout his political career before. This criticism did not break down Potesinan but rather inspired him to go and voice his concerns to both the National Council and the Council of States. Potesinan did not go as far as offering his resignation because he felt that he would 100% be the one to handle the problem with Daredland’s interests defended and there’s no telling what a less principled replacement of his would do.

North Baggnagian spy drone detected near South Baggnagian border

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – The situation between North and South Baggnagia continues to spiral downwards. The South Baggnagian Protection Army said that a North Baggnagian spy drone was caught near the shared border between North and South. The drones was apparently aiming to enter the South Baggnagian airspace but the military soon took action to make sure it wouldn’t happen. The troops had to think on their feet because it may have been an armed drone that could shoot missiles. In such a case even single drone’s incursion would warrant an aerial invasion. Rather than shooting it down the South Baggnagian troops began flashing a blinding light at the drone to disorient it. In case that would not have worked the military was ready to shoot the drone down. But fortunately the situation did not come to that peak. The blinding laser-like light made the drone turn back and head deep back into North Baggnagia. During the drone’s advance the soldiers did manage to take a picture of the aircraft. They recognized the type of drone and reported that it was an unarmed reconnaissance type. It was not a newer one either because North Baggnagia is formally isolated and does not appear to have active arms suppliers from the international stage. At worst case scenario the drone would have done some spying but no shooting. But the drone could have also been a test by the North Baggnagians to see if the South Baggnagian army would be willing to shoot their aircraft down and provoke an armed clash.

The drone incident comes at the time when the diplomatic situation between North and South Baggnagia has worsened after the North blamed the South for cyber-attacks it experienced. Coincidentally this deterioration is happening under the rule of the new North Baggnagian leader Marshal Jan Tillich. This is also a time when Minister of Foreign Affairs Jurij Zejler-Leichhardt will speak at the Congress of National Sovereignty on the diplomatic deterioration with the North. Minister of Defense Vojtech Wylem Betnar will also have a congressional hearing and he was informed of the fresh drone incident less than half an hour after the troops chased the drone away. The drone situation will probably be something attend to Betnar’s hearing when his turn to speak comes.

The South fabricates a drone incident against North Baggnagia

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – The South’s collaborator-run colonial leadership has taken the lower route again. They have made another accusation against North Baggnagia and our Glorious Leader His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich. This time the South has taken the long route to make their fabrication look more realistic. The South has supposedly caught a North Baggnagian spy drone trying to enter the South and do spy reconnaissance. The South’s army did not shoot this supposed drone but made it move in the opposition direction and back into North Baggnagia by flashing a light at it. This fabricated event tries to show the supposed humane attitude of the South by showing how their army did not use force but rather only flash a light at the drone. This shows how much the South is avoiding causing a war by taking any first action against the North Baggnagian Holy Army.

His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich rightfully so said that the whole thing is a fabrication. The Great Leader said that there is no doubt that the North Baggnagian Holy Army could crush the South’s colonial army and Sunrisian occupant forces. Considering this fact the whole situation already sounds ridiculous. The Great Leader replied that this move might somehow be aimed to improve the image of the South’s colonial army in whatever way. But His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich also noted that the South is facing problems in its colonial leadership where their supposed foreign minister and defense minister are under scrutiny. There is a clear instability in the South’s colonial leadership. To distract the Baggnagians living under their oppression the South’s leadership needed a diversion from the scandal. North Baggnagia was again chosen as an easy target. His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich warned the South that this tactic will not work forever and that the South is playing with fire by attacking North Baggnagia like that.
