Republicans don't understand immigration

Postby GLDF » Wed Aug 21, 2019 5:58 pm

Republicans act as if legal entry and residence to the United States. In reality, it is very hard and complicated to do so. Below is a simple diagram showing some parts of the green card obtaining process:
https://amp.businessinsider.com/images/59039fac7dea720c3d8b4d01-1136-1904.png
Keep in mind this does not accurately represent the difficulties nor is this an application for citizenship. A green card allows you to live and work in the country. There are very strict regulations and quotas that make many potential immigrants unable to stay in America.
Here is another good example: https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil. ... t-get-line
It's not easy like many believe. It is silly to say that America is easily accessible when people who applied a long time ago still have applications pending.
For many people who need the ability most, it is totally unavailable. And that's still ignoring the hassle of becoming a citizen.

So, what will make them understand? Why do they not know why immigration is very difficult? And why are there so many ridiculous restrictions?

Personally I hate when they talk bullshit about how easy legal immigration is. It's hard and many of the rules aren't based on reason at all. The system handles it terribly and unfairly. If we want legal movement, why don't we make it possible for people who deserve it?

I don't think that most Republicans are anti-legal immigration. In fact, many deplore the state of immigration in the U. S. and want a system like that which exists in Canada and Australia, where it is easier for people to go to their respective countries based on the extent to which they will contribute to society.

Immigration + Republicans = Trump. We can leave it separate but I do htink it would be better over there.

Carry on.

Give us your poor and starving so they can wither away after we hold them up for a decade at the border and we'll work out a deal one of these years.

We can house illegal immigrants but we can't house American citizens that're homeless. We're what, supposed to just have open borders and let the entire world have a claim to our country and its resources?

You didn't say [a political party] though. You said [a group of people]. There is a difference between "Republicans" and "The Republican Party".

Oh wait, I forgot that it's only an opinion. I'm definitely wrong and immigration is easy as hell. I'm just a whining liberal who thinks unnecessarily complicated processes are indeed overly complicated.
