Sunday, July 14, 2019 [14-07-2019]

To the people of the world, and on behalf of Astoria, I extend my greetings to all of you! As a direct result of allowance by the two houses of Parliament and by the Prime Minister Robert Paisley, it has been decided to hereby open an embassy programme, so as to let any nation open diplomatic relations with us.
It has also come to our attention that Astoria possesses multiple embassies in a sizeable number of foreign nations, yet no nation has, as of writing, opened any embassy within Astoria itself, proving to be a one-sided situation diplomatically.
As such, in order to remedy these issues, we have opened our embassy programme, which is expected to go on until further notice. When you apply for an embassy and/or a consulate in Astoria, you are not just opening diplomatic relations with another nation; you are giving not only yourself, but also your citizens a chance to explore and enjoy a nation with one of the highest civil rights in the world, among other things.
However, when undertaking something like this, we have also instituted a set of rules, which you will find below.
On behalf of Astoria, we wish all fellow nations good luck, and hope that their applications are successful.

Your nation's thoughts on Astoria: Astoria is seen as a morally-upright country with an apathetic population. While more rural citizens of the Pan-Asiatic States may have a slight distaste to Astoria's pacifism, the educated class of Pan-Asiatic society applauds most policies of Astoria. The government of the Pan-Asiatic States generally greets the Astorian government with a cordial tone, and has only the best intentions for continued peace and co-prosperity.

Lisa Ursula Schäfer (born 20 October 1972), Her Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, is a Yohannesian barrister and diplomat who is the first and current Ambassador of Yohannes to Astoria. Her accreditation was registered by Parliament’s Advisory, Press and Private Committee on 11 April 2019.

Raised by her parents Petrus and Fiona in the Kingdom of Alexandria, Schäfer was educated at the state-integrated Adelaide of Löwenstein-Rosenberg Grammar School and attended the University of Yohannes to study Law. Upon her graduation in 1994, she was nominated to become one of many promising interns for the World Assembly Mission of the Nineteen Countries. Schäfer returned to Yohannes after two years to work at the alternative dispute resolution and litigation firm Köhler Schumacher Lawyers in Halsten. Coming into contact with then local Member of Parliament for the Altenmarkt electorate, her name was forwarded as a possible Legal Attaché for the Yohannesian embassy in the Grand Duchy of Van Luxemburg.

Following the 2018 presidential election victory of Marion Maréchal-Le Men and the GOP, Schäfer was nominated, in her position as a senior diplomat and provisional parliamentary adviser at the time, as a possible candidate for the Office of Ambassador in Astoria. Dear Sir:
While we wish to open a diplomatic mission within Astoria, that currently is not possible because Deathfall is still considering if capital punishment is allowable or not. See People v. Brown, 2019CR294 (D. Baytown, 2019).
While the Deathfallian Judiciary considers this, I personally have asked the Realm of Yohannes to help us come up with a solution to have diplomatic relations with Astoria. One idea that has stuck out to me is a protecting power arrangement to exchange mission chiefs instead of formal Ambassadors until the decision of the Court of First Instance hands down their decision. I am expecting Mr. Brown to take the case to the High Court, our highest appellate Court, for immediate consideration. If possible, I will give you updates.
Would Astoria agree to the Realm of Yohannes to be our protecting power? Deathfall would have a interests section in the Embassy of Yohannes in Astoria, and Astoria would have a interests section in the Embassy of Yohannes in Deathfall. Please let me know.}
