Is YN a melting pot, or a cultural mosaic?

The melting pot is a monocultural metaphor for a heterogeneous society becoming more homogeneous, the different elements "melting together" with a common culture or vice versa, for a homogeneous society becoming more heterogeneous through the influx of foreign elements with different cultural backgrounds, possessing the potential to create disharmony within the previous culture. Historically, it is often used to describe the assimilation of immigrants to the United States.

A cultural mosaic is the mix of ethnic groups, languages, and cultures that coexist within society. The idea of a cultural mosaic is intended to suggest a form of multiculturalism.

Xeloncaresia is a combination of both. It’s a cultural mosaic in the sense that people of different cultures don’t mix and every ethnic group has its own distinct communities and enclaves, where hundreds of different languages are spoken. In addition everyone has ties to their cultural roots, even 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants. But Xeloncaresia is also a melting pot in the sense that every citizen is required to be fluent in Rhône and English (at least enough to hold a conversation).

GN is culturally fairly homogeneous insofar as there are not many distinct cultures from across the world. That is not to say that there are not differences between different types of Nortchman; the most distinctive difference may be the retention of the use of Erebian in areas of Lower Erbonia and Hambria, a mostly mutually intelligible language despite differences in pronunciation and spelling.

You've also got to factor in every splinter community, isolated mind, culture war, culture cold war, hegemonising memetic swarm, antimemetic vaccine distributor, and everything else that accelerates or limits the spread of cultural ideas between the K-Sphere's 10²² emulated minds, most of whom don't even understand each other to begin with unless they rewrite themselves utterly.

The sheer amount of various planets, nations and ethnicities constituting The United Federation of Orion means that cultural and/or ethnic homogenisation is not possible making it a cultural mosaic.

Zhouran is highly ethno-culturally homogeneous, however Zhouranese men are known for dating and marrying interracially. Zhouran does have foreigners who have Zhouranese citizenship, a massive majority of whom have Zhouranese spouses.

If anything, Zhouran is more of a melting pot. Zhouranese people like to joke about how the Kangyuli race can essentially turn things Kangyulic and that foreign women who date and marry Zhouranese men become assimilated.

All people are legally required to identify as "Kaltic" regardless of what their actual race or culture might be (with the exception of medical and scientific documents) - It is a national fiction that many don't take seriously, but they don't have to. They abide by the rules and over time they contribute aspects of their culture to the Kaltic metaculture, but eventually their culture is destroyed as a distinct entity in Kaltic politics. The national fiction becomes national reality.

Thermodolia is on the extreme end on the melting pot side of the melting pot/cultural mosaic divide. Until 1970 Thermodolia practiced Thermoization in which non-Thermodolians became Thermodolian through intermarriage, forced language teaching, and cultural erasure. After 1970 Thermodolia moved to an assimilation system much like the US had during the waves of immigration.

As such there is very few non-Thermodolian cultures. The only places where non-Thermodolian culture exists are the Republics and a few other provinces.

The Peoples National has always been in a fairly odd spot , we had started as a nation around the 1990s due to the break up of the Soviet Union as a former SSR Republic. When the constitutional crisis happened in 1993 our nation witnessed a massive change when militants seized the local army garrison along with police headquarters within the state over night. Due to the situation going on further north within the much more strategically valuable state of Chechnya the state was left to its own devices under a leader who had slowly from 1994-1996 became a basic warlord. Being supported by not only the Taliban , though by Shamil Basayevs forces in Chechnya , Osama bin laden , ISI , The House of Saud , Turkish intelligence along with multiple volunteer units. The state eventually fell apart after the great leader of the core came back around 1997 after fighting in Chechnya not only during the War itself though for its security forces for another two years. Only to figure his home had been decimated by War. The Country had multiple Arabs militants terrorizing it , along with the military almost entirely propped up with NATO weapons. During the Guerrilla War the nation saw thousands of Arabs die and where forced out into exile later fighting back along the border with the Azerbaijan forces attempting to seize the nation with help from multiple volunteers while they where guide by the remainders of their security forces command structure from Pakistans Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

The Nation has always seen multiple foreigners coming through , either it being the Russians , Iranians , Chinese , Indians , Mongolians , Greeks , Italians. Their are many groups of people in our nation which is why is their are many interest groups within our nation politically and otherwise , for theological or just through some other assorted reasons. This is also why during the late 20th and early 21st century our nation has seen a variety of weapons sweep through it during the years of fighting from other nations.

The Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the Crown of the Kingdom of Prussia were held separately until recently, with the Swabian branch of the House of Hohenzollern(Hohenzollern-Jagiellon) being the Kings of Poland and Grand Dukes of Lithuania, and the Brandenburg-Prussian branch being the Kings of Prussia and later the German Emperors. While there was much camaraderie between Prussia and Poland, it wasn't until after WW1 when the two countries merged into the Commonwealth of the Kingdoms of Prussia and Poland(aka, the Prussian-Polish Commonwealth, or Prussia-Poland), following a series of coups by reactionary militias known as Freikorps, although it was lead by William III of the Brandenburg-Prussian Branch. In addition, despite numerous overtures and later coup attempts, Lithuania was lost permanently to the PPC, although the head of the House of Hohenzollern-Jagiellon still claims the title of Grand Duke of Lithuania.
The invasion of Nazi Germany temporarily removed a Prussian-Polish state from the map, but the Soviet invasion that followed a few years after reinstated one-the Democratic Republic of Prussia-Poland. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the DRPP clung to power for 2 more years before being ousted in a Western-backed military coup that instated George Fredrick Ferdinand of the Brandenburg-Prussian branch as King of Prussia and Poland. However, the presence of NATO troops soon sparked violent reactions from the populace, which was still bitter about their perceived betrayal during WW2. In 1995, a mere 3 years after the restoration of the Commonwealth, a second military coup was launched that brought Crassus von Hohenzollern-Jagiellon to the throne, forcing George Fredrick into exile.

The result of this all this convoluted history?
Two ethnic groups with an extremely friendly history with one another, and which are widely seen as having shared destines, but which, for the most part, are separate...for now.
