A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

 1. To start, you must sign up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before the cutoff date. You won't be penalized if you sign up and don’t end up posting a song. You then post the song in the IC thread after a host vote (see previous contests to see what a "normal" post looks like).
 2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
 3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory, and other languages are encouraged.
 4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the Committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

 1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one edition in order to qualify to host a following edition. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic and fair result.
 2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
 3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
 4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
 5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the Committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
 6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
 7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
 8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if you do so and don't finish your entry by the deadline, you will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalized or not. You may also state that you are withdrawing from the contest on the OOC thread.
 9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee. If you'd like to edit something in after the deadline, please ask the Committee for permission first.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee - it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Achaean Republic, Kishrael, Mister X, Polkopia, Todlichebujoku) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

Think. Love. Participate.

My name is Sarianne Williamson and this is who I am, this is where I’ve been, and this is why I’m running…

I am running for the WorldVision Committee. As longtime friend and Spiritual Advisor to one of the most beloved members of the WorldVision committee, Electrum, I believe I am the best candidate for Committee. This campaign is about forging a new possibility for WorldVision. It’s about all of us working together to create a rising tide of citizen activism and activation. It’s not just about electing a candidate. It's about you....your power....and your world(vision).

What we most need now is a visionary -- someone with a deep understanding of where we have been and where we need to be going. While car mechanics are important, they aren't necessarily the ones who know how to drive you to where you want to go. It is unreasonable to expect the mindset that drove us into the ditch, to be able to pull us out of it. It's not enough now to just know what's happening inside the WorldVision Committee; we need someone who also knows what's happening inside us.

"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are."

My campaign provides the people with the option of choosing another way -- not just a better version of same old, same old committee, but a genuine pattern disruption that allows for breakthroughs and possibilities that will not otherwise occur. It is for those who want the person sitting behind their keyboard, making committee decisions, to be someone with an expanded sense of what is necessary, as well as what's possible, in the 21st Century.

We need to water the roots. We need to address the deep emotional and psychological dynamics within the souls of members of our community. In order to have a moral and spiritual awakening in Worldvision, we need a leader who is a moral and spiritual awakener. I believe I am that person.

Part One - Think.

I am more than just a thinker, I am a dreamer. I believe that through our dreams we can harness another universe that is so much better than our own, and with the right mentality implement that better universe in our own reality. A leader who is not a dreamer is no leader at all. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us. A decision maker must be at one with their inner-self to decide and guide to the right path, through their inner-demons they see the darkness of a bad decision, through their brightest dreams the possibilities that await. I have closed my eyes, I have dreamed, and I am at one with myself. I know the path forward, for I have taken it many times. In my dreams.

As a radical dreamer, I believe in the change I want to see in the World(vision). As part of that change, I want to see the Committee elected in thirds, with two committee members elected each WorldVision. This allows WorldVision to adapt to the world around it, and allow fresh dreamers and fresh dreams to join me in the committee. Symbolism is extremely important as it speaks to our soul as human-beings: three elections, two elected, one committee speaking in one voice preaching one love for one contest and one community. Three, two, one. A countdown to a better future, a future we have dreamed to be possible, a dream that we are able to implement by the great moral movement of our coming together.

"Maturity includes the recognition that no one is going to see anything in us that we don't see in ourselves. Stop waiting for a producer. Produce yourself."

But I tell you one thing, it’s really nice if we have all these plans, but if you think we beat our problems by just having all these plans, you’ve got another thing coming. Because our problems don't win by saying that they have a plan.We have to get deeper than just these superficial fixes, as important as they are. I have had a career not making the plans, but I have had I a career harnessing the inspiration and the motivation and the excitement of people. Masses of people. It is important for your committee members to listen, engage and harness the dreams of others. I may be a dreamer, but one dream pales into significance of a moral mass of hundreds of dreams pushing a new enlightenment into reality.

Those who haven't dreamed and seen the possibilities of our reality believe that the World Hit Festival is becoming the best place place to engage in our shared, communal passion for song and dance. But when I takeover, and harness the power of dream, and the power of love I will ring up the Overseer of World Hit Festival and I will tell them "Girlfriend, you are so on". Because WorldVision is going to be the best place on Nationstates to lift the soul through music, dancing, laughter, joy, competition, songs and male models who set unreasonable body images. It is through my dreaming and your energy that we can make it happen.

Part Two - Love.

I am unashamedly on the side of love. Love is the most basic part of the human psyche, and we need to harness it to make the best contest that could ever be dreamed. But most of all, we need to love each other. For too long we have allowed hate to permeate throughout WorldVision. Hate for each others flaws, hate for each others imperfections but also hate for each others successes and each others excellence. For jealousy is a form of hate, perhaps the most ugly. It is not a hate grounded in fear or prejudice for others but a hate grounded in fear and prejudice of ourselves. It is a hate we feel when we confront our own insecurities and imperfections, the most ugly hate which eats inside of us and stops our ability to dream of our own, or our collective betterment, but the destruction of the each other's triumphs. But through collective love we can defeat that hate. We can be proud of each other's success and work together to further it. We can create a #song-writing-help channel on the Discord so we can build each others successes together. We can defeat the power of hate. We will meet hate on the battlefield empowered by our love. And love will win.

"The practice of forgiveness is our most important contribution to the healing of the world."

Someone cannot serve on the committee if they do not believe in the power of love, if they cannot bring people together. In my dreams and in my reality I have worked to increase love within the community. Through my close partnership with Electrum, I have been the example of platonic excellence which must serve as a model for all members of the community. I will always celebrate and encourage the strengthening of bonds between us, and will always be riding in the vanguard of love. I love each and every member of this community, and I vow to show that every single day as a member of the community. Random acts of kindness are not a gimmick, but a lifestyle necessity for the soul. And when you nurture your soul, you nurture the souls of those around you, and inspire them to nurture the souls of their loved ones too.

But we must always recognise that our past actions have not always nurtured others souls. We cannot pretend the past never happened, but work together to cleanse the sins so that we have no need to pretend because the debt is paid and the soul disinfected. As a pro-love member of the committee, I will work to resolve conflict within our community in a holistic manner. For the best way to make peace with our neighbours is to make peace with our neighbours. But we must also work to tackle the symptoms of hatred and division, and learn from the past to put roadblocks in the way of the armies of hate. If we used half the effort for love as we did for hate, the community would be a brighter and more emotionally sustaining place.

Part Three - Participate.

When we engage in politicking, it is easy to forget that the core of this community is a music contest. Music is the unifying language of the heart, the mind, the soul and the body. We dance, we cry, we sing and we love through music. More music means more experiences, more chances to fall in love, more of the unifying language that our whole bodily ecosystem desires. This means for our soul to survive we need to ensure people participate in our contest.

"Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learned here."

When people stop participating, it is like throwing a poisoned dagger into our bodily eco-system. Where this happens we must engage with them to understand what we as a community can do to improve their experience and help them participate once again. We must show them love and understanding. But most of all, we must show them our commitment to fight our hardest to ensure they can once again participate. It is through listening and improving that we can make this happen. And we must do it, to quench the thirst of our needy soul for music.

Conclusion.

I am the candidate of dreaming. I am the candidate of love. I am the candidate who rejects the thinking of old and embraces the possibilities of not just a new plan, but a whole new way of thinking. This contest would not exist without the individuals that make it up. If we look at how to improve the contest, rather than how to improve the soul of it's community then we will be trapped in the problems of the past. I am not a new plan, I am a new mindset. Try a radical dreamer, a passionate lover and the new possibilities that will bring. Vote Sarianne Williamson.

"In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it."

Bienvenidos a Rosario: Our Music, Our Roots

Postby Achaean Republic » Mon Aug 12, 2019 6:32 pm

For the first time in 56 editions, AS1 and Asociación Fortunense de Televisión, AFT invite you to visit Rosario, the Black Pearl of the Achaean Republic, to experience our music and our roots!

Image

The Islas Fortuna, the Black Pearl of the Achaean Republic, are a collection of twenty islands and islets located only 100 miles (160 kilometers) from the Achaean Mainland. It is the only Achaean state made up completely of islands. Out of these, only three––Rosario, Ciénaga, and Colón––are inhabited, holding the rich diversity of the Afro-Achaean culture––its mysticism, its music, its vibrancy.

Rosario, the capital of the Fortune Islands, is located on the northwestern coast of its namesake Island. The sixth-largest city in the country, more than 1.5 citizens live in the City of Horses, captivatingly creating a mixture of Portuguese, Spanish, African, Taíno, and even Syrian-Lebanese influences that reflect on the tropical heat of the city and the smiles of its citizens.

Rosario was founded in 1544 by Portuguese settlers as São Paulo do Caribe, a stopover point for ships due to its location between Brazil, Portugal, and other Portuguese colonies in Africa. This allowed Rosario to become the biggest slave port in Colonial Achaea, as more than 40% of all slaves into the country had to pass through this island before being sent to various coffee, sugar, and fruit plantations on the mainland. Tribes such as the Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Kongo, and even Berbers were forcibly kidnapped and sold to slavery, but some fought back through numerous slave rebellions that became the source of legend and are yet sung with pride throughout the country’s numerous areitos, bateyes, and even Santeria temples. It was in one moment both the richest and poorest city of the Caribbean due of the slave trade, with a rich cultural and architectural legacy you can admire walking through the dizzying alleyways of the city's Zona Colonial.

In 1721, the Spanish colonial government initiated a takeover of the Fortune Islands, which led to the first of three battles of the Sobrado against the Portuguese. Slaves were forced to fight for their owners, but a lucky few escaped to the mountains or fled to the river banks with their masters’ horses and equipment (and sometimes the masters’ wives) to create a new society called the palenques. These cimarrones, as the maroons were called, spoke songs about their pains, frustrations, and hopes for a future without slavery, creating music such as bomba and bullerengue.

When the Spaniards won in 1730, newly-installed Governor Francisco María de Vilella changed the city’s name to Villa de Nuestra Señora del Rosario (Village of Our Lady of the Rosary) as a nod to his French wife’s Catholic saint.

One of the Rosario Colonial Zone’s most splendid spaces, the Rosario Plaza will become the WorldVision Village for the thousands of tourists and residents traveling to our city for Worldvision. Large screens will be installed for the legions of fans. Food trucks featuring the most delicious cuchifritos and delicacies from all participating countries will line up on its majestic cobblestone streets. Up to 60,000 guests will enjoy the Colonial Zone's old-world charm beside the Sobrado del Virrey and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Best known by locals as “El Soleao,” the Arena del Sol––home to the Tamboreros del Rosario from the Acaya Baskeball League––will host the main event of the Worldvision Song Contest. Built in 1990 and renovated in 2018, the Arena del Sol will hold up to 15,000 guests with state-of-the-art technology including clean-energy LED screens, 30 accessibility ramps, solar panels, and over 5,000 parking spots. The Arena del Sol is also accessible by public transportation, which will be free for all ticket holders for the duration of the WorldVision events. For the contest, 12,700 seats will be available to the general public due to stage extensions and safety purposes as outlined by the Municipality de Rosario.

The stage is a simple, yet sleek mirror of the many rivers that crisscross the city of Rosario. Prepared by Corola-based design firm Nexo Arquitectos and Rosario-based students from the University of Fortuna-Rosario, the stage is prepared with strobe lights, fireworks, fire and LED water-mirrored walkways and floors that will enhance the performers' presentations on TV. A smaller, yet longer stage than previous editions, we will have augmented reality available for delegations in both live and TV, as well as moving pieces, water jets, pyrotechnics, smoke machines and dry ice to simulate cold if necessary. (If you need to simulate heat, it’s only a matter of leaving the arena!) The stage seamlessly connects to the greenroom, also located within the arena. With this new, flowing setup, the audience can very well be part of the musical action––and delegations can pick the best spot to make an impact on their performance!

The green room will be located in the same arena so performers can interact with the audience as well as wait while they perform and––hopefully––be declared the winner of the Worldvision Song Contest. Stocked with minibars, cuchifritos and sleek, comfortable furniture provided by state-of-the-art Achaean designer Noemí Nola, both contestants and delegations alike will enjoy the luxurious green room we have provided for them.

Tamar de Andrade is a former beauty queen, model, singer, TV presenter, and proud Rosariana. A former Miss Acaya representative, de Andrade has won numerous records for her music that combines sounds from Achaea, the greater Caribbean, and the Atlantic. She is the presenter of AFT’s hottest musical review show, ¿Qué Pasó, Rosario? (What’s Up Rosario?), and is currently working on her most recent album, Progreso (Progress), to be launched in 2021.

Of Afro-Achaean and Lebanese heritage, Khaleb Nássar-Rodríguez is one of the Achaea’s most celebrated presenters. He is the first Afro-Achaean presenter of AS1’s flagship 6:00 P.M. news bulletin, a position he has held with pride since 2016. In addition, Nássar-Rodríguez is also a prolific poet and writer well-versed in Afro-Achaean affairs. His memoir, Lo Que Comí Cuando Crecí en el Canaveral (What I Ate When I Grew Up in the Canebrake) garnered him the National Prize of Achaean Literature in 2012. He was also crowned People en Español's Sexiest Man Alive for two years in a row, in 2016 and 2017.

Maybe twerk it in Corola Gay Pride, or have a taste at one of our many delicious food festivals? Sponsored by Turismo Acaya and Fuego Airlines, each participating nation will experience the sights and sounds of the Achaean Republic’s most famous celebrations, accompanied by a snippet of Achaea’s storied musical repertoire.

Other Considerations:
 1. The IC thread will close on Sunday, September 9, 2019 at 8:00 P.M. BST/3:00 P.M. EST. A hard deadline will be used for posting new entries and making any necessary grammar, spelling, and RP changes.
 2. The Official Listen-Along for the 76th WorldVision Song Contest will take place on September 10, 2019 at 9:15 P.M. BST/4:15 P.M. EST. on the Greatest Hits channel in the Worldvision/World Hit Festival Discord server. A YouTube playlist will be provided for all who wish to relive the songs and privately set their votes.
 3. In an effort to improve transparency for both the WorldVision Committee and its members, an official spreadsheet will be used to track the distribution of points and the countries that are yet to vote. This will be linked to the IC thread, but only the Host and the Committee will be able to make any edits. Reminders will be sent 24 and 48 hours to nations who have yet to vote before the voting period ends, respectively.
 4. A Winner’s Press Conference role-play will be held in the Roleplay channel of the WorldVision/World Hit Festival Discord server immediately after the results are revealed on September 16, 2019 at 11:30 P.M. BST/6:30 P.M. EST.
 5. Right after the Winner’s Press Conference, a WorldVision Concert with Achaean and international musicians will be held in the Greatest Hits channel of the WorldVision/World Hit Festival Discord server.

Because AS1 is a private channel and AFT a regional channel, we will allow commercial sponsors to showcase their wares, values, and expectations in the city. In a greater bid for transparency, both channels will use a budget of 17 million ARC ($25.5 million USD) to cover for the operational expenses of the contest. To date, commercial sponsors and official partners for the 76th WorldVision Song Contest include:

The National Mystery Tour Final

While the Leader is undergoing treatment for alcohol addiction he developed from WV75, Princess Keller Harrington is starting an approved experiment to repeal a censorship law that is common in the entertainment industry within Main Nation Ministry. She is allowing more independent acts appear and is allowed to speak some topics that the Ministry of Entertainment has denied to have in their music. For this national final, we are having three designated "heavy hitters" where the public can vote for one of the two songs they have selected. The other three musicians are new in the Ministrian scene and have selected one new song from new types of artists.

Heavy-Hitters

Jessica Madden: Jessica has returned this time and she bringing along two new songs at her disposal.

#1 - My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Okay or #2 - Incubus - Stellar

Charlotte Huxley: Jessica's friend Charlie is involved in this national final and she's happy to share some songs of a mystic nature.

#3 - Lemon Demon - Aurora Borealis or #4 - Touch-Tone Telephone

Princess Keller Harrington: Keller Harrington herself is volunterring to do the bid to fight her stage fright. She isn't revolving on gimmicks and has some songs up her sleeve.

#5 - Weezer - Island In The Sun or #6 - High As A Kite

And now for our new musicians selected for the bid to compete for WorldVision 76!

Robin Rodriguez

#7 - Hawk Nelson - Something on My Mind

Red Card

#8 - The Moog - Everybody Wants

Waterfall Tales

#9 - The Rakes - Open Book

Fred Walker

#10 - Panic! At the Disco - Death of a Bachelor

Goodwill Heroes

#11 - The Slip - Even Rats

Rock Hard

#12 - Drist - Arterial Black

Hotter Than Hell

#13 - That Handsome Devil - Elephant Bones

Megastrife

#14 - Superbus - Radio Song

Voting ends on the 19th of Monday on 12PM PST! So pick your three favorite songs out of the 14! After the 20th, the top three songs or more (depending on a tiebreaker) will compete for their song to end up in WorldVision, where the second voting will end on the 26th! So TG your votes to Main Nation Ministry today!

Quote of the Week: "A NEW STORY ON WRITING THREAD FOR HALLOWEEN!! MYSTERY MINE AVAILABLE NOW!"

RPs I do
- How do you do fellow kids? You want to see something violent? - Artemis: Deimos Trafficking League (Horror/Mature)
- Descend into the forgotten tourist traps of Florida on this transgressive RP! - The Community (Mature/Black Comedy/Slice-of-Life)

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.

"Welcome to Izmepisma. 9 songs have been chosen out of a field of hundreds waiting for their shot at Izmedu's WorldVision baton, but only one song can remain standing"

Ljubica's respectable 11th place relieved but also disappointed some in the RTI faithful. While it was a good result in the wake of external and internal pressures on the channel, there was a latent fear that this could be the start of a down period for the country. Thus, the focus was to make sure that Izmedu would get back on track and to prevent a possible rut. There was also a fear amongst those in the channel of a creative fatigue and stagnation, a similar fear that was also shared by the WHF team. For those working within WorldVision, there was a call to find artists that were well-worn and well-directed in their artistry. They wanted as wide of a range of genres to be represented once more and for artists to send something that could provoke a strong, guttural reaction.

This call to action resulted in 1273 entries to be sent to the channel, an uptick from last edition. This time, more familiar names to the WorldVision faithful appeared on the shortlists on top of more newer names from the Izmeduan scene that are fighting to make an impact to represent the next generation of Izmeduan music. The eventual acts chosen for the live shows reflected that mish-mash, a reflection of both the old and the new. After two semi-final televoting rounds, 9 songs stand before you, ready for your votes.

Your least favorite 2 songs will not receive any votes. To vote, simply send a TG to Izmedu with the format or send a Discord DM to Izmedu#6997 (and if you have a national final, let me know and I will vote for yours in return).

The final result of Izmepisma will be determined through a 50/50 split of the international jury and public vote. The amount of points that the public will give out will be determined by how many international juries vote for the national final.
