“Asia is a sleeping giant. Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will move the world.”

A Lower-Class Neighborhood
Your Nation

The air is thick. The landscape is barren. In the distance, refineries and coal mines echo through this lowly shanty town in the middle of one of your nations' most comprehensive economic development zones, whose people live like slaves. This industrial jungle is where the lowest of the low sit impoverished in the dark, waiting to die. This is where the homeless take comfort in backstreet alleys where petty crime runs rampant because of an uncaring and incompetent police force.

This is where many decades ago, Asian families fleeing the Third Pacific War afforded to settle-down, expecting a land of opportunity, but were instead distraught. Some fled in hopes of escaping the rising tide of Communism and the Soviet Union, others because they were deported by Imperial Japanese authorities for dissent. Those first Asian pioneers have long since passed-away, they leave only their children, whose situations have degraded from bad to worse. Immigrant minorities such as them have been largely persecuted for being of their nation-of-origin, often labeled derogatorily as untrustworthy Communists and crooked thieves.

A ruggedly-faced teenager in a black hoodie swiftly vandalizes one of your nation's government offices with an Oriental Standard. He makes a quick fist-raised salute to the yin-and-yang, before sprinting away from nearby policemen. In the distance he screams, "Serve the People!"—it is the third building vandalized this week.

28 years since the end of the dreaded Pacific Wars, and the Proclamation of the People's Federation of Pan-Asiatic States, the Orient has spent nearly three decades rebuilding from the ruins of nuclear fire. Even the most respected of economists believed it wasn't possible, that under Socialism, a system now in the limelight of the world, could build-up the whole of the 9 Republics. The philosopher loathed the People's Democracy, taunting its illegitimacy with maxims from century-old racial hatred. The political skeptics believed the Federation was on the path to certain civil war, that infighting and discontent would soon fuel the various Asian peoples to the brink of secession.

Now they say nothing. The West primes their weapons for war, as a new hegemon has taken root in the East. From the jungles of Africa to the deserts of the Middle-East, Imperialists and Capitalists have their backs against the wall. Sides are being taken, picket lines have been organized. The Third World prepares to lunge at the First World.

The dawn of the 21st Century in your nation saw the withdrawal of U.S economic hegemony, as a result outspoken opportunistic politicians have often used the "red scare" of the Pan-Asiatic States' rising economic imposition on the world as an excuse to fuel their own political power; blaming refugee Asians for the loss of jobs and opportunity in your country, or perhaps even using Asian spies as scapegoats and scarecrows for various national issues.

Months ago, the Pan-Asiatic States' State-of-the-Nation-Address proclaimed that a time of prosperity for the Third World countries was coming, and thus, Western governments begin to find more and more truth in the accusations of its paranoid populace, more and more reason to be afraid, perhaps even hate the Pan-Asiatic States.

On the other hand, the Pan-Asiatic States continues its revolution to liberate colonized peoples abroad. There has been talk of deceit, of conspiracy, of revolution aimed at striking at oppressors, economic and ideological rivals of the Pan-Asiatic States', ultimately destabilizing Western countries from the inside. There have been rumors and vague evidence suggesting the Pan-Asiatic States may be funneling funds, arms, ammunition, rapporteurs, saboteurs, and advisers to various insurgent organizations sympathetic to the Pan-Asiatic government, Socialism, and Orientalism.

Orientalism is rising. A sleeping tiger, awoken at last. The Pan-Asiatic States' has made its move.

What will yours be?

THE STORY SO FAR:

New Asia-Africa Procurements Threaten Western Foreign Direct Investments
Caixin Global
August 21st, 2019
The Pan-Asiatic States and Africa have been partnering on investments for approximately the last decade. Today, August 21st, 2019, delegates from both the Pan-Asiatic States and several African states including South Africa, Benin, Togo, and Libya, met at Cape Town to initiate the eighth annual Forum on Asia-Africa Cooperation. The collaboration and cooperation summit makes Africa one of Asia’s greatest allies in the current global market environment. The level of Asia's investment in the continent of Africa has been increasing at a steady rate. Last year, at the 2018 Asia-Africa Cooperation Forum, Asia announced it would be providing $60 billion in financial support to Africa. This number is only expected to expand as the People's Federation enters its Bottom-Up Budgeting season.

Some of the primary motivations that lie behind the Pan-Asiatic States' push toward increased investments in African nations include the desire to secure a solid base of raw materials to fuel the Federation's own rapidly growing economy, the desire to increase Pan-Asiatic global political influence and the major growth opportunity presented by emerging market economies in Africa.

Mining and oil remain a primary focus of the Pan-Asiatic States' investments; however, the country's investments extend throughout virtually every market sector, including everything from infrastructure to food processing. The Pan-Asiatic States' investments in the largely undeveloped infrastructure of African nations are particularly strong, encompassing key areas such as utilities, telecommunications, port construction and transportation.

The Pan-Asiatic States' investments have the country well-positioned to profit from continuing economic development in Africa. Among the concerns involved in today's talks, many more Pan-Asiatic firms which have already established bases in the continent and are continuously investing in Africa are state-owned by the Pan-Asiatic government. This gives them a notable competitive edge when, for example, bidding procurement contracts in African countries, since the companies can obtain substantial subsidies from the Asian government.

The stakes in Africa are high due to the continent's rich abundance in raw materials. Africa is estimated to contain 90% of the entire world supply of platinum and cobalt, half of the world's gold supply, two-thirds of world manganese and 35% of the world's uranium. It also accounts for nearly 75% of the world's coltan, an important mineral used in electronic devices, including cellular phones. The Pan-Asiatic States has also been expanding its military presence into Africa, rivaling the United States in investment and military activity there. Investment in the continent has also been a topic of discussion for the United States and the Pan-Asiatic States in its ongoing trade negotiations and political deliberations.

However, today's talks, briefly mentioned in a press release this evening by the newly-elected Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and acting First Lady, Katrina Nishikino-Abramovich, may antagonize the investments, directives, and economic influences of other countries in the West and/or allied with Western countries as well, most notably those of Anglomir, Atkemri, United Avon, and Allanea.

The press release mentioned the deliberation of the introduction of twenty-six new mining, infrastructure, and transportation state-owned concerns to several of the member-states on the African bloc of the talks. For the past two decades of rising Pan-Asiatic economic influence in Africa, major subsidies in such sectors have crippled the above Western nations' own industries by raising higher investment stakes, lowering the prices on goods necessary to the development of and are exported by the Pan-Asiatic States to the African countries, and providing "solution specialists" such as doctors, IT professionals, architects, and economists through various aid missions to low-GDP African countries.

The Pan-Asiatic States is a premier emerging market nation, and the well-being of its economy significantly impacts world markets. As the world's largest nation continues its economic expansion, Asian leaders recognize the increasing need for natural resources, food and product markets necessary for continued economic growth. The focus on resource-rich Africa is a logical one for the Pan-Asiatic States. Mining investments account for nearly one-third of Asia's total foreign direct investment, or FDI, in African nations. By working to secure a solid base of critical raw materials, the Pan-Asiatic States strengthens its economy for decades to come.

@ The Pan-Asiatic States 2019 State of the Nation Address
"Mere months ago we bore witness to the response of the world to our rise to global prominence. We endured through the dark ages of the 20th Century, and built for ourselves the paradise of independence which we have always deserved. With the advice of the State Development and Planning Commission, we embarked on a Federal campaign to build-up our industries by securing greater trade deals with our allies and friends across the world; while our rivals in the West began making plans to build walls we built bridges and for that we prospered. Through the direction of my administration and the cooperation of the Trade and Industry Commission, our latest findings report that the nation's nominal GDP has risen from $26.88 trillion to $28.23 trillion between 2017 and 2019 thanks to additional trade surplus and debt payback alone.

But what was the response of the international community, particularly those [nations] in what economists consider to be the "developed" parts of the world?

Sanctions, embargoes targeted at crippling the People's Federation on the basis of bogus accusations such as "violations of human rights" and "creeping majoritarianism", to which I have responded before and will respond again: if it is the human rights of corrupt politicians and the freedoms of criminals which we are speaking of, then I have not a single care for them! I have urged them time and time again to respect our Socialism, our tradition of workers' democracy and Orientalism.

I cannot help but echo the late Comrade Stalin, as I have many times before: “It is difficult for me to imagine what “personal liberty” is enjoyed by an unemployed hungry person. True freedom can only be where there is no exploitation and oppression of one person by another; where there is not unemployment, and where a person is not living in fear of losing his job, his home and his bread. Only in such a society personal and any other freedom can exist for real and not on paper.”

Even the World Assembly recognizes this. Can the Occidental states boast the same 96.88 score on the worldwide Human Development Index as we are boasting today, as of 2019? This is why I urge the Executive Council, as well as my own countrymen, to disregard the lies being spread by the gangster-like media attitude of the West. I urge the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to never-mind any political fallout that may result in our aggressive trade expansion, and to instead help me safeguard our forward-march instead."

"When the economic offensive of those nations which have become household names due to their subversive and illegal activities, failed, those nations; the likes of Kjalaara and Anglomir, sent for the hounds. A group of armed men with sophisticated weaponry, aided by locals radicalized by extremist dogma and teachings fought our troops for weeks.

Who could forget the national tragedy that followed the March 25 Uprising, when our beloved "Charming Prince of the Tropic", our very head of government, one of our most esteemed statesmen, Fernando Lawrencio, was murdered out in the open by those bandits of the West: by the death squads of the greedy imperialists? Similarly I extend my sympathies to the late Cui Milihi, who was also, earlier in this administration's term, shot dead by counterrevolutionary dogmatists. Truly, the success of our Federation is tainted and trailed by the scent of death.

This is why I urge the Supreme Commissary to continue his anti-crime initiative in Northern China. It is also imperative that we increase the operating capabilities of the Special Police Force, and the Ministry of State and Public Security; we have been lenient with surveillance and peacekeeping within our own borders for far too long."

"Aside from sustaining what we already have earned, we must also ensure that our Federation's economy has room to grow. This is why, after much thought, I have conceded to much of the State Soviet's stance on international aid. We have seen the devastating effects of the sanctions on our national budget. I believe that, in order for us to plant the seeds of a brighter and more prosperous Asia, not only for the duration of my term, but for many years to come, we must begin to become more vocal of the [political] situation of the countries around us.

This is where the Sixth Administration's focal foreign agenda comes into the fold: trickle-down diplomacy. The world is far too gripped in civil strife and ideological conflict, that it leaves little time for its people to govern and make for themselves their own destinies.

Just a few nights ago, I was woken in the middle of my slumber by the call of Undersecretary Zhan, informing me that a Civil War had broken-out in the Kingdom of Dmaguea; then again a few nights after, this time by a rebellion in Khataiy. Naturally I had to do my duty to reach-out to the appropriate ministries and ensure the protection of Asian life above all costs but it simply alarms me that war is once again becoming commonplace in this century.

Now, many of you, especially the young ones, will rub it in my face that our great Federation is partly at fault for that. Yet I beg to differ. I believe that it is in our People's War in Skyhooked, our aid to ideological allies such as Samporna, and our recently-concluded interventions in Israel and Cromwell Island, that is quickly making it known to our rival states that they should not even dare challenge our benevolent and sovereign authority in trade and that nor should they be allowed to bully those who have done us kindness."

"The single greatest thing about the Pan-Asiatic States' foreign policy is that we never aim to force our ideology on any one country; we strive to liberate all countries from those who would."

"Now more than ever it is clear that we have broken free from the great isolationist policies our forefathers cast upon us in the 20th Century [...] We march forward to embrace globalism, but we must also ensure our own national aspirations by protecting our trade and our like-minded alliances. Proposals have already been made by several Congresspeople regarding the expansion of our international aid budget, and I highly encourage everyone to support them with open minds and open hearts, [so that] we may freely and unerringly create a world in the shape of peace through Orientalism and solidarity.

It is my fervent hope that the prestige of our Armed Forces will establish footholds in the Middle-East and the Carribean through the Asia-sponsored State of Palestine and our Anti-Imperialist War in Skyhooked respectively. I believe that our dutiful resolve will grant us consented access to the rich oil fields of Samporna; while it is not our primary agenda especially in the wake of anti-LLF and anti-SNA atrocities being conducted by those who would like to prolong the conflicts in the country, it is certainly not a hidden one. Generally, it is my aim that our current wars of defense for other worldly Socialist states represent the prestige of the People's Federation, our commitment to our allies, and our unending interests to smash foreign aggression. The Pan-Asiatic States is, after all, the world's most advanced model of democratic cooperation in the 21st Century, only by right of protecting its people."

"We do not want war, but sometimes it is necessary to take up the gun in order to abolish the gun."

In the age of exploration and colonization, the United Kingdom of Avon had sent ships far and wide in search of opportunities for plunder and profit. In the waters of the Southern Sea, these captains found the Sondonesian archipelago, rich in exotic spices, valuable crops, and other natural resources. The islands were a patchwork of small kingdoms and other polities, easy prey for the divide-and-conquer techniques of Avon and her Royal Trading Company. Company warships sailed into the excellent natural harbor on the island of Insulindia and subjugated the local population. The island would remain property not of the United Kingdom, but the Avon Royal Trading Company, for almost two centuries before it was formally brought into the empire as a possession of the Crown. Insulindia Station remained the key link in Avon’s naval projection for another two centuries after that, and the island remained securely under Avonian control as the twenty-first century dawned. Elsewhere the empire had been forced to retreat: Naruba had been lost entirely, the international cities in Comorostan had fallen, and even the once mighty Gaipajaman Raj had been forced to shrink to a more manageable size. But in Insulindia, the Union Flag continued to signify strength and power. Or at least, that was what the colonial authorities thought.

Queenstown

The Royal Insulindia Constabulary had been created in the nineteenth century, as the island’s growing population and economic importance had required the rethinking of policies which had excluded all native Insulindians from any sort of government employment. The island had been run by white rajahs and corporate administrators for centuries, with the locals given no options beyond serving as muscle and labor in the various lucrative industries that filled the coffers of the Royal Trading Company and others. The Avonian government bureaucrats who had taken charge had realized that they needed some level of buy-in, at least from the elites, to maintain a smooth-running colony and keep the money flowing. Thus the Royal Insulindia Constabulary, a police force of Insulindians led by Avonians. The “sullies,” as many Avonians called them, provided knowledge of the local languages and connections with the people they were policing; the Avonians provided expertise in modern policing and kept a firm hand on their collaborator partners. The RIC had been controversial in the beginning, but it had proven itself a useful tool in keeping order among the lower classes and giving native elites something to feel proud of. It also tainted their hands with the blood of their countrymen: those who joined the RIC soon realized that their fortunes and lives were now bound to the continued survival of the colonial regime. If Avon were to leave, or be forced out, they would soon find themselves swinging from lampposts.

Luckily, the newest round of trouble hadn’t come from the locals. Avon had been encouraging Asian diaspora immigration into the island for some time. The Asians served as a new source of cheap, exploitable labor and also gave the Insulindians a new, more acceptable target for their resentment. Insulindian leaders in labor and local politics – what little political activity Avon permitted – grumbled about Asians stealing away scarce jobs and driving down wages with their willingness to work for next to nothing. Insulindian religious leaders grumbled about the Asians practicing strange and foreign religions. Everyone seemed to agree that there were too many Asians living in the cities, crowding up the slums and spilling into some of the more respectable lower-class neighborhoods. They were easy targets for violence from the RIC and other Insulindian collaborators, because roughing up an Asian youth was a way for an RIC constable to say to his fellows, “look, I am still one of you, even in this uniform.” This was, of course, tacitly encouraged by the Avonian authorities, who looked for any opportunity to play colonized peoples against each other and also distrusted Asians for their own reasons. Asia was a source of trouble; places like the Pan-Asiatic States were known origin points for communist infiltration and subversion in colonial regimes.

So it was not surprising or shocking to Inspector Henry Grant that when two RIC constables brought in an Asian teenager in a black hoodie, he was already suffering from a bloody lip and the beginnings of a black eye. The two Insulindians – Sergeant Setiawan Sumadi and Constable Surya Darmali – looked like they were bringing in a prize tiger from a hunt. The boy they held by the upper arms sagged, all the fight beaten out of him for now.

“Ay, Inspector, we caught the devil who put that sign on the wall,” Sergeant Sumadi reported proudly, in his heavily accented Avonian. “I tried to make him tell us who told him to do it. Very stubborn boy, and no respect.”

“Put him in the first holding cell,” Inspector Grant said absent-mindedly. He barely looked up from the newspaper he was reading to give the boy a once-over. “Let him think about his silence for a night and see if he talks in the morning.”

The two Insulindians manhandled the youth down a nearby hallway and threw him into a small cell usually used to house drunks or other miscreants. Constable Darmali threw a couple of kicks into the boy’s ribs while he lay on the floor.

“You talk tomorrow to the Inspector!”

Satisfied that they had done their due diligence, the two RIC men walked back down to their lounge, which was separate from the one used by their Avonian superiors. Sumadi drew a clove cigarette from his jacket pocket and handed another one to Darmali, who produced a cheap lighter and lit both. The lounge was already hazy with smoke from the other Insulindian officers who were sitting around between shifts walking patrols through town or not yet officially on duty. The story of the stupid boy who had spray-painted some Asian symbol onto the city hall and then tried to run away from the police would get plenty of laughs from the other policemen.

Prime Minister Richard Pitt looked over the report from the Minister of State for the Eastern Department. It was full of holes, with its claims based on flimsy evidence and speculation. But it was making claims that Pitt was inclined to believe: chiefly, that the People’s Federation of Pan-Asiatic States was behind the recent spate of trouble that had been rocking the normally calm boat in Insulindia. Things remained at the nuisance level, for now: graffiti and other flashy but harmless demonstrations of rage from the Asian diaspora community. But the report hinted darkly at murmurings of organization among the Asian population, and suggested that agents from the PAS might be behind this coalescence of anti-colonial resistance. If that were the case, it went on to posit, then the next step after organizing its fifth column on Insulindia would be to provide it with weapons in order to carry out a coordinated uprising. If this happened, the report warned, then the small garrison of Avonian troops and their local sepoys would be hard-pressed to retain the island for the United Kingdom. Pitt agreed with all of this, but it was the next section which gave him pause. The report recommended a number of responses, ranging from the obvious (increase surveillance on organizations with predominantly Asian membership) to the overly drastic (confine all Asian citizens to relocation camps in order to prevent the spread of communist agitation). It also recommended a drastic increase in the Avonian garrison on the island. Pitt wasn’t sure the support existed – yet – for the kind of heavy firepower that the Eastern Department seemed to think was required. But he did think that the United Kingdom could afford to spare some additional troops to keep a lid on things. Pitt pressed a button on his desk intercom that summoned his secretary – a lovely woman from just north of the border in Elyria, curvy and with enough of an accent to sound exotic instead of too foreign.

“Set up a meeting with the Minister of War,” he instructed. “And send him a copy of the report from Eastern Department. I want to get his thoughts on what forces we could spare to reinforce our garrison there on short notice.”

The populist revolution in France against globalist austerity had been successful and now the new leader President LeFrancois was taking a diplomatic trip to the Pan-Asiatic States in hopes of establishing revolutionary ties with the Asian Government and meeting with various top officals. Cotam 001 had begun to land at New Manila International Airport. Out walked the revolutionary brother leader with 10 body guards, President LeFrancois was a seasoned revolutionary that had fought on battlefields allover the world before overthrowing the French government and installing himself as leader.

Gripping the outskirts of the sprawling city of Oosthuizenfoentein was the Township of Jakobsdorp, a ramshackle growth of corrugated metal and plywood against the gleaming and modern sprawl of the city. The township was a relic of the apartheid era, constructed by the government for the purpose of segregating people by race and ethnicity. At more than 15 square miles, Jakobsdorp was the largest in the nation and continued to grow, and while apartheid may have been over for several decades, very little had changed in that time for the citizens of the township. Wretched poverty remained the norm, and crime remained rampant to the level that even the militarized police were hesitant to linger after the sun went down. One of the few things that had changed since 1998 however, was the addition to a large Asian community to the township following the economic depression that occurred amidst the social upheaval of the country. The asian population had been little affected by the apartheid laws and many held affluent positions, unlike the black community. As the depression caused many to lose their jobs, many settled in the township where they often became victimized in retaliatory attacks by racial gangs for their previously privileged status. The days where many Asians enjoyed the prosperity of South East Africa had passed, and now that many were forced to find refuge in townships with many others, socialist and communist sentiment had begun to increase in popularity among the Asian population as they began to share in the belief of some that the anti-communist liberal government was not making adequate progress in rectifying the great disparity of wealth to be found in South East Africa.

As members of the Asian communities tuned in their radios, the broadcast they heard could not have come at a better time. Racial and political tensions in South East Africa were at their worst in decades, with black nationalist and communist guerrilla groups on the rise and clashing with the military and civilian commandos in the countryside, and the far right Circle of Brotherhood and Pride party spewing racial rhetoric in Parliament. While the capital of Oosthuizenfoentein itself seemed to be a world away from the brewing conflicts in the bush, the same could not be said of Jakobsdorp. Black nationalist and communist elements were recruiting in the township and inciting violence against other ethnicities, in particular the Asians. In response to this the militarized police had sharply increased their patrols, and even elements of the military had been dispatched to aid in keeping the peace. It was now not uncommon at night to hear sporadic gunshots as the racial gangs clashed with the military and police, turning the Township into a borderline warzone. It was one one of these nights that the broadcast came in, inspiring and instigating many to finally take a stand against the racial targeting and the perceived inability of the government to keep them safe from vigilantism. By the end of the week, numerous symbols had been discovered sprayed onto shack walls in the township, and several known black communist terrorists were found dead near where symbols were drawn. At first, the media was quite positive in its reporting of the isolated events, thinking that justice was being served by an unknown group a sentiment shared by the police and military units assigned to the township. That was however, until the symbols began to spread outside the township and into the city itself. Several police outposts in Jakobsdorp were vandalized first, however while perpetrators were seen and several were pursued, none had been apprehended. A few days later, the Palace of Justice itself was vandalized along with a few other minor government offices.

A few nights after this a group of three young asians were out looking to tag the local police outpost in their area, inspired by the broadcast and the recent events. They made their way through the dark streets in the rain, the sound of several dogs barking in the distance. An armored police vehicle made its way down the dirt street they were on, forcing them to duck behind a shack and nearly making the anxious young men lose their nerve. After a few minutes of back and forth and allowing the vehicle to pass, they regained their tenuous resolve and pressed on towards the building. The orderly structure was easy to spot amid the rough shacks that surrounded it, and it appeared as if there were no police or military nearby. The trio scanned nervously before rushing towards the side wall of the outpost down an alley and began tagging the structure. They had barely begun when two soldiers, privates Chokwadi Tsvangirai and Pieter van de Ruyt, were returning from a foot patrol and passed by on the street, noticing the trio. The soldiers raised their weapons, shinning their attached flashlights on them shouting at the trio to turn around and put their hands up, first in Afrikaans and then in Chinyanja. The trio panicked and froze, unable to act. Unbeknownst to the others of the group however, one of the men had brought a handgun, which he withdrew from his waistband in a panic, firing at the soldiers and running backwards, shooting Private van de Ruyt in the arm and throat. Tsvangirai dropped to a knee and returned fire, killing the armed man and injuring a second in the leg as he tried to escape. The third man fled down the alley into the night as Tsvingirai approached to kick the fire arm out of the hand of the dead man, radioing in that shots were fired and both two suspects and a soldier was down. Several police officers rushed outside of the outpost upon hearing the incident, detaining the wounded suspect and rushing to the aid of the downed soldier. Unfortunately, van de Ruyt died shortly after, while the suspect was thrown in the back of a police car to be taken to police headquarters to be questioned....

On the surface, Oslean society was harmonious and left little room for conflict. Theoretically, any human, no matter race, gender, or creed, could set foot on Oslean soil and find their way to prosperity as any other could.
And prosper they would; the Congressional Republic was not a poor country by any means.

Yet, the social fabric of nation bore many scars from its prejudiced past. The anti-Muslim Geller Act, the Conservative Crusade, the Character Sanitization Initiatives - to name a few. These acts, of course, were now repealed - but an unapologetic government preferred to sweep them under the rug and conveniently forget of their past existence, without any reparations or reconciliation to speak it. "It was said, done, end of discussion. Stop complaining," people would say.

But Herman Delarosa remembers. A young Filipino, he recalled being bullied in school for speaking accented English, being passed on college applications due to his heritage, having to attend mandatory classes to "Westernize" his demeanor.
Filipinos were some of the founding peoples of Oslea, before the arrival of whites - who introduced Western customs and ways to the country. The Oslean Government, in short, was quick to be smitten by the ways of these newcomers - and were quick to turn their back on their collective cultural history, silencing those who wanted to hold on. Whatever Filipino heritage was there before was now eroded, lost to history.

Herman saw in the Pan-Asiatic States an example of Asian Supremacy, through its economic and military strength - arguably rivaling Oslea's, without the dominance of Western ideals or culture. Perhaps that was not the real message. It did not matter.
What Herman saw was successful Asian self-governance. And he wanted to see that here.

"Serve the People!"

A hooded figure affixed a large Oriental Standard on the Oslean flag watching over Celene's glass tower-dominated skyline. Quickly sliding down, he jumped the fence of the local Congressional Republic Army recruiting station, seen by none.

Online message boards buzzed with the peculiar sight of foreign symbolism flying over a military installation. Of course, it was quickly taken down, but not before the internet noticed.

  • Honestly, these guys aren't so bad. Oslea could learn how to run a country from them. [+2950]
  • The Pan-Asiatic states never hurt me. The government took all my grandad's property and gave it to Westernized folks. Fuck Oslea, serve the people! [+1450 - controversial]

It seemed that the Pan-Asiatic States ignited a long-simmering resentment - and desire for revenge - amongst the discriminated in Oslea.

"Perhaps this will just be a fad," one political commentator noted, "it'll die off. Life here is too comfortable. Whatever dumbass kid did this will probably give up once he gets a job."

"Then again, you never know how volatile one could make this situation. Just one dash of foreign interference in our country, and bam; the nation's in civil war. It's a laughable thought, but stranger things have happened in international affairs."

If You Want a Little Bang In Your Yin-Yang, Come Along

Postby TURTLESHROOM II » Sun Aug 04, 2019 6:18 pm

{ OOC: TurtleShroom is a multi-species nation divided between men, turtles, and mushrooms. Its human population is one-third Asian and it has already faced a Marxist uprising that lead to a brutal Civil War. I feel like I have established a casual degree of acquaintanceship with PAS, who has accepted me as a fellow storyteller in a human-based RP in Skyhooked. }

The sky was dark and the clouds thick in Jonesboro. A rain shower had been steady the last six hours, with temperatures in the eighties, with all the humidity that a thick jungle biome needs. The weather mushroom called for a gully-washer. A storm.

Two creatures stood looking at the graffiti. This is the third time this symbol showed up on the walls. The first two times, it was simply photographed and scrubbed away. This one was different. Someone had vandalized the Chancellery Palace, the original throne of TurtleShroom herself!

That was impossible.

Known colloquially as the Pauper's Palace, this beloved, ancient, wooden behemoth had a reputation for being impenetrable and perfectly guarded. The Palace had been struck by lightning multiple times, had survived arson and terror and even a space invasion from literal, Future-Tech aliens. Most famously, the building survived an invasion of five hundred thousand Marxists during the TurtleShroomian Civil War, which included the use of chlorine gas being liberally deployed.

No one attacks the Chancellery Palace, let alone sprays graffiti on it.

Until today.

"Ah-yup. That there's a Yeen*-Yang. -and not just a nor-"

"Do what now?"

The red-footed tortoise identifying the graffiti was wearing the badge of the Imperial Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with powder blue ribbons circling the circumference of her shell like a cake. Next to her was a male, TurtleShroomer White, human, imperial policeman working for the nationwide Ministry of the Police. He wore the usual khaki robe of his office, and his police hat. The robe and obscured his assorted weapons and could be discarded in a second's notice.

"A Yeen-Yang. There's two things in a Yeen-Yang, son. The Yee-in**-" she pointed her head to the orange color, "-and the Yang.", she concluded, moving her neck to point at the deep maroon color.

"Never heard of it. Some sorta hippie thing?"

"No sir, they ain't no hippies." the tortoise replied, looking back to the human. "Oriental."

"Well, we've got many millions upon millions upon millions of Orientals in this country. You're 'gonna have to be more specific."

The tortoise looked at the graffiti again, outstretching her neck and practically placing her head on the wall.

"So what's that thing mean, anyway?" her human counterpart continued.

"Pagan Chinaman's symbol. Even the seasons and the sexes are used in this. -and when I say China, I ain't talkin' 'bout no GEIJD*** colony either. Take all the Chinamen in Nationstates and trace 'em back, every one from Red to White to the dynasties. This symbol hee-yuh is an universal representation of everything China. Even the Taipings**** acknowledge it."

"That don't answer my question."

"It's a symbol of balance. Broadly it represents balance and duality in things a-rangin' from nay-chuh to man to Free Will. Laht and darkness. Good and evil. Boy human and girl human. Heck, male and female turtles! Sickness and health. Like humuhs before germ theory."

The tortoise smiled the best she could without lips. The studies of symbolism was her passion, and this was why she was considered the authority on every foreign symbol and concept. The Ministry of Domestic Affairs, the police forces, and the military of the Empire went to her every time they were confounded. Even though any Asian human could probably identify this symbol, the government was forever deeply stuck in its ways, and this tortoise was the go-to, is the go-to, and has been the go-to for the past hundred years.

Woe, what a shame that she was female! That excludes you from teaching at seminary and serving as clergy. Were she human and male, she'd have been an ordained theologian at some seminary's ivory tower.

"You know how the Tsars claim the title 'Son of Heaven'?"

"Yes."

"Okay, so pagan Chinamen believed the world was made up of two dualistic forces, represented hee-yuh in this Yeen-Yang. Yee-in, the force of light. Tian, the Chinese Pagan Heaven, same that gives the Mandate to our Emper-uh and theirs. -and this is Yang, the force of darkness. Diyu, the Chinese Pagan Hell, and the seat of the Chinese devils, the Dark Capital of Youdu. In every man and every sentient creature*****, they said that those two forces make up their deeds and soul."

"Wait, Chinese Pagans thought non-humans have a soul?!"

"Yes sir! Pretty much every Oriental belief system was animistic to some degree. Japan especially, but also China."

The human nodded as she continued.

"The Church Fathuhs, and all the Christians in this great land, are Armenianists. That means they believe in Free Will under our all-sovereign, omnipresent God. With Free Will, there ain't good without evil. Evil exists precisely because the Free Will includes the option to do wrong. It's why God allowed Satan to rebel. It's why God doesn't stop every monstuh n' crook in the world.
Chinamen believed similarly. No Yee-in without Yang. Everyone has some Yee-in and some Yang in them. Our job, they said, is to overcome the darkness within us and be the laht."

"Ah'ight, but why is it swirled together like that?"

"Balance. I say, keep that word in mind, son. The Yeen-Yang's swirled up 'cause it shows balance between two opposites. A portion'a the opposite element's in each section. No light without shaduh. No good without evil. Everyone's got darkness inside 'em. The goal of religion, ours and theirs included, is designed to feed the laht and fight the dark. You can nevuh truly get rid of the Yang, and you shouldn't, 'cause without that balance, without that choice, there ain't no Free Will."

"That's... actually kind of beautiful."

"A-yup. Even 'fore Jesus came, Our Lord gave even the unbelievers hints and truths of His universal Presence. The Yeen-Yang is yet another concept in the eternal, moral absolutes-a the Bible. Even the Tengris agree on this, too!"

"Well, now that we understand it, I have to ask. Why's it such a big deal that they called in the greatest symbologist in the Great Bountiful Em-par to look at it? Was it just an artist? Is one of the Halls usin' it as a gang sign?"

"This ain't some gang sign, boy." the tortoise said coldly.

The look on the face of the tortoise made the rookie policeman shiver.

"This is Marxist."

Thunder cracked as the bottom gave way. The called-for thunderstorm was finally making its way in.

It wasn't the only storm that was brewing.

Free Kingdom Ministry of War, Headquarter of the Organization for Armed Shenanigans, office of General Alexei Kalugin

"Socialism and orientalism." – Kalugin said. –"What an interesting worldview they have, those commies. They think they can but declare that they fight for equality and against colonialism, and that makes their side right, and their cause invincible."

"General Kalugin, I object," – said the woman seated across the table from him. The stars on her shoulders denoted her as Captain, and by assignment she was a cultural consultant with the OAS. "There is a substantial difference between socialists and communists…"

"And one that's absolutely irrelevant here, Captain Kothapalli." – the General cut her off brusquely. "The Pan-Asian States is a command economy with all industry held by the state. Its ideology – much like that espoused by, say, Lenin and Brezhnev – revolves around seizing all means of production to be controlled by the state. Whether they mean to eventually transition to a stateless and classless society is irrelevant to those whose homes and factories shall be seized, it is irrelevant to those who shall discover that, after putting their hopes in this economic system, their own resources shall be diminished, and it is irrelevant to those who shall lose their freedom."

"Moreover, they are of course racist fools." – he continued.

"General, the Pan-Asiatic Movement is an anti-colonialist movement – "

"Why does this matter? Do you think that if the words 'anti-colonialist' are uttered, this changes everything? The goal of these bright souls is to pit the so-called Asians – whether or not they're actually living in Asia or wherever – against anyone whom they perceive as an imperialist – whether it's a genuine imperialist country like ours or not. And we already know what these anti-imperialist struggles bring with them – violence, not only against the oppressors himself, which of course is often justified, but against one's own brothers in chains, who have been seen as somehow 'cooperating' with the oppressor. But beyond this. They're also explicitly Eugenicist."

"What?" – Captain Kothapalli gasped.

"You see. You have come here to brief me, Captain, but you yourself are not properly briefed. You see, the Pan-Asiatic States have abolished the tradition – known in many countries, sadly – of traditional arranged marriage – and have replaced it, of course, by state-arranged marriage. The sort of marriage you know, Captain, where people marry for love or perhaps mutual advantage, that is a capitalist frivolity that is gone in the Pan-Asiatic States. By the way, so are reproductive rights as we know them. Reproduction is licensed."

"That is insane."

"All of this is, yes. Their system is a form of hardline Maoism, but somehow even more explicitly racist than actual Mao was."

"So what is going to happen, then? War?"

"Eventually, indubitably. But not today, and hopefully not with us. However, we must be on our guard at all times. It is likely, I project, that they will become involved in some kind of proxy war – Maoists love proxy wars. When it happens, we must see what we can do – see who their first victim will be. It might be someone worse than them – there is, of course, no bottom to the sort of evil that inhabits the multiverse. On the other hand… it'll be likely someone we could at least have some sort of cooperation with. And, of course, we will watch and learn."

{ OOC: For the purpose of this article, all text rendered in pink is spoken in Japanese. Japanese is the language used here because the non-Tsao Asians in TS hail from the former state of the Greater Imperial Japanese Dystopia (GEIJD). The nation had an empire larger than the Pan-Asian States and was ultimately destroyed, in totality, by a warlord whose armies were risen from the GEIJD's southern Indian and eastern African holdings. }

"All rise!"

The gavel struck against the tropical wood desk of the lectern. The former auction house turned "meeting room" was dimly lit, with candles and a single, dimmed chandelier over a long, rectangular table. The brown walls above the dark brown, wainscot paneling accentuated the moulding forming squares in the wall above. The lectern was at its head, and chairs held the rest.

A small, angry looking, male, Asian human in a Mao suit looked around the table. The other creatures at the table were an all-Asian human delegation. They were wearing either proper Western suits or Mao suits themselves.

"This session of the Sum Ting Wong Tong has come to order."

"Here here!" came the English reply.

"As you all know, our 'noble brotherhood' has, since the Civil War, coalesced with the Marxists for obvious purposes in their new order. What started as an alliance to better our 'legitimate businesses' has grown, as my heart can proclaim, into an increasingly sincere devotion to the Red cause."

"The proletarian patriots of the TurtleShroomian Marxists, while ideal in their end of private property and embracing of collectivization, were nonetheless extremely religious and centered on a fundamentally Christian understanding of the world. While this makes sense for this dirty 'empire' we reside in, we have sense found a greater cause, an Asian cause, that will allow us to reach into the hearts and minds of the sprawling Oriental population in our country. The Pan-Asian States shows us the way."

"Here here."

One of the Asians in the room, the youngest present, motioned for a request to speak. It was granted.

"Honored President. You are aware of the issues at hand. The Oriental population of TurtleShroom, ourselves included, hail from the Tsao Empire or the Rising Sun. The People's Comrade-Emperor of Japan, his house be blessed, though using Marxist campaigns to maintain class consciousness and certainly running a fantastic command economy, was not actually Marxist, let alone Maoist or Orientalist. They were a Third Way outlier, fascist with elements of Marxist planning and Marx-esque cultural goals. That is why I raise this concern."

"TurtleShroom is an extreme-right, traditionalist country that resonates with the Asian population. She has not only kept the peace with our Asian brothers and sisters, but they have embraced her. They fly her flag. They hail her Crown. They speak her tongue. They accept the degenerate animals and the deformed fungi. They serve her armies in droves; why, the Tsao are sending the realm's armies to the future! What does the PAS' rendition of Mother Asia have among the descendants of a shattered empire most think they are better without?"

He yielded the floor to the President.

"Ethnically, socially, and even politically, TurtleShroomers are harmonious. Unless you pursue the truths of Marx and Mao. Then they'll persecute you. Driving a wedge between the gaijins and the Asians wouldn't be difficult. It would be impossible. However, TurtleShroomers have sincerely embraced some of the superficial exterior of Asian culture and trends, and even its deeper meanings. Why else do you think the economic facets of the Shutai* Idea resonate among even the rightists? There's a Shutai party!"

"Honored President, sir, are you insinuating that gaijin whites could consider Orientalism?"

"The Marxists certainly can, honorable boardman. The People's Comrade-Emperor was revered by the Marxist Clique, including its gaijins, as a hero. The Jacobins carried pictures of him. TurtleShroomers as a whole will never bow to the superiority of Asian culture, but give a short time and they won't need to, as it would, in part, become theirs. The thing is, we can't wait that long."

The hall president switched to English.

"That's why I've gathered this final meeting. The Sum Ting Wong Tong is facing a bright future. You, honorable boardmen, were called here to finalize our transition from a noble brotherhood of what the gaijins call 'organized crime' to a full-fronted voice for Orientalism and the great leaders of Pan-Asia. All honored men in favor of our allegiance being given to the people of Pan-Asia, say 'HAI'."

"HAI."

"All honored men opposed, say 'IIE'."

Silence.

"It is unanimous."

GREAT BOUNTIFUL EMPIRE OF THE UNITED TURTLES, MUSHROOMS, AND MEN OF TURTLESHROOM
PRIVATE SECTOR
SUM TING TONG HALL**
[ADDRESS]

{ OOC: Everything that follows is in Japanese. }

RUSH TO SENDER; PRIVATE; ONLY INTENDED FOR RECIPIENT

TO THE PEOPLE OF THE PAN-ASIAN STATES AND THE ORIENTALIST MOVEMENT
TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE PAN-ASIAN STATES
TO THE RELEVANT FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND ESPIONAGE BODIES OF THE PAN-ASIAN STATE

HONORABLE CHAIRMAN:

Your proclamation has resonated amongst the noble brotherhood of the Sum Ting Wong Tong. For years, our society has enriched our homeland with quality 'products' and access to 'the good things' that the bourgeoisie so fiercely deny to the proletarian masses. We have cooperated with other 'legitimate businesses', rightist fools they are, until we heard your message.

The Empire of TurtleShroom, a pox upon their Crown, concluded a Civil War against the freedom fighters demanding the end to the bourgeoise and the nationalization of the Means of Production and society in a communal system run by the people. Sadly, the freedom fighters were utterly destroyed by the reactionary forces of both the government and the other, equally or even more reactionary rebel groups.

This is why your message stirs our souls. TurtleShroom has not yet made the Marxist revolution go quietly into the night. Our sons and daughters may be dead in the hundreds of thousands, but still does the future triumphs of the revolution capture the dreams of many TurtleShroomers. We believe that, in spite of the Oriental population of the country fleeing right wing juntas and a Third Way ideology empire, which had elements of collectivization for the people, that the seeds of Orientalism resonate in the heart of every Asian everywhere.

We appeal to you and your immaculate nation for assistance and aid in fighting the TurtleShroomian Empire and their reactionary, forsaken Tsars, plutocrats, and robber barons. The struggle is not dead. The proletarian masses have not yet returned to sleep. Class conciousness is still elevated and now is the time to strike.

SERVE THE PEOPLE!

Peace and honor to your enlightened nation.
-THE HONORABLE BROTHERHOOD OF THE MEN OF THE SUM TING WONG TONG

* = That is, Juche

** = This is the official name the STWT is required to use on legal documents and letters. "Tong" means "hall", but TurtleShroomian corporate naming convention demands a "Captain Obvious" designation and categorization on every institution that doesn't make its purpose clear. Ergo, the "Sum Ting Hall Hall" name.

I realize that I specified that I would not be engaging in any OOC talk in the threads, but I really must commend the amount of traction that people have put into this RP, despite my long period of inactivity. I will now resume getting back to work on responses for the various people who have expressed interest in RPing with me both here and outside this thread.

On that note, if you're one of those people and you see this post, hang tight, I'm working on it.

For everyone else, an OOC thread might be up soon, so please stay tuned.

August 9th, 2019
The People's Federation of Pan-Asiatic States

Elections: the cornerstone of the infamous so-called 'New Democracy', were fast approaching, and on the legislative level it was due in November. For many months now, aspiring District and Federal Congresspeople have embarked on grand campaigns fueled by bold, nationalistic, most of the time entertaining public statements coupled with promises of reform and civil change. But that too was the Federation's sickness: bread and games. The diminishing streak of economic breakthroughs which the Sixth Administration had prided itself so highly of had come to a full halt. The expansionary fiscal policy adapted earlier in the term was on the brink of collapse. Young Asian men and women fresh from conflicts in places like the Caribbean and the Middle East were coming home in boxes. The people needed a distraction.

With five different tropical storms inbound for mainland China, the Philippine, Indochinese, and Oceanian regions, the hard downpour of a rainy August inadvertently forced rallies to disband or reschedule. It put people in bed weather, in the mood to listen to their leaders, the continual suspension of work and school gave them no choice but to keep their hands to themselves and their mouths shut: good conditions for TV and Radio outlets to broadcast what was in high demand. And what was in high demand were political opinions.

While local issues were always at the center-point of public agenda, candidates who really had no solid plans to develop the already booming Asian economy turned to having opinions on the outside world to grab voter attention. It was a cheap parlor trick used since time immemorial, with little to no real political cost.

"Is there any society more repugnant to the future of the revolution, any more alien to the plight of the worker, than the imperialist regime of the Kingdom of Avon?", speaks Minister of Defense (Honorable Datu) Jin-Hwan Yurievna on national television. A tall and ruggedly-faced Manchurian man who dresses himself in the finest Party attire, wreaking of tax money, he has called-upon the Federal Congress to renew several arms manufacturing subsidies since the beginning of a recent war in Skyhooked, but the reluctant legislature has persistently declined his proposal. Today, he makes a scene in an interview by Xinhua (New China) News by making bold claims about the Kingdom of Avon:

"Calling upon the people to devote themselves fanatically to the decrepit institution of the nation state, they have dressed up age-old ways of imperial savagery in a modern costume of liberalism, trying to present themselves as an alternative future to the inevitable international victory of the working-class and colonized peoples. Their House of Commons is a sham—the most under-classed in Avonian society are represented by the richest of the rich who care naught for the people and much for themselves! We hear their screams for nation and race from oceans away, as well as the pleading of the enslaved proletariat in their colonies, and we have heard these cries before. They arrest those who speak against them and spew lies to justify cruelty. Comrades, we've heard it from Tokyo and we've heard it from Washington. We know what comes next. It is only a matter of time until they strike against us or our allies. We must be prepared."

On H1V1 Premium, far-away from the hustle-and-bustle of the industrialized landscapes of central China, Sar Rothanak, a Cambodian-native standing member of the IDA (Indochinese District Assembly) from Vientiane's third district, a settled-down veteran of the Third Pacific War, was causing a ruckus on a local late-night talk show.

"[I'm] aware of the conditions of the Asian community in Africa, specifically in Suidoos-Afrika, where quite a sizable minority immigrated to during the Pacific Wars. Many of the hardline Trotskyists in the Federal Congress of Soviets will tell you that they're leeches, or traitors, or revisionists. I think otherwise. I think that quite a lot of them have more authority to call themselves a citizen of that country than its natives. Those natives of Suidoos-Afrika... their only right to citizenship was by luck, they were born there. Many of our Asian brothers and sisters in the 70s had to risk their lives hiding in Soviet barges, avoiding Japanese authorities and the war itself to be able to provide for their family."

Another man with outspoken ideals against some of the nations the Pan-Asiatic States considered less favorable than others, is a young lawyer from downtown metropolitan Seoul, Attorney Pae Byung-Ho, a truly rags-to-riches paragon of the Orientalist Revolution, who's currently in the process doing everything he can to beat the long-time Federal Congressional representative of Seoul's second district. Projecting his stance from Yalu Morning Radio Show on Korea's 122.39 AM2 station two days ago, he was quoted by local outlets saying:

"It really is quite inspiring for me that a number of Asian youth groups in Oslea have expressed their deepest sentiments of longing for the Fatherland in the past decade or so. I think that it's a sign of our nation's development that there exists a younger generation that wants to go home, and they should be able to if they want to. That's why if I get elected to represent the second district, my top priority will be to continue the fight for the emendation of the Ban on Free Travel. I think that it's a long way to go for us to repeal the law completely, but it's not radical to include exclusionary principles and clauses in the [section of that] law. I mean, in future, I would think that we should also welcome those native to countries like Oslea who hold the same ideological tenets as us, but I think, considering that we remain in the wake of the March 25 attacks, paranoia remains at an all-time high and the legislature would remain uncooperative with such a gesture.

Finally, I think it's truly disheartening how local authorities in that country have decided to respond to the growing demand for minority representation. It's not as much police state as other nations which have held historically blatant anti-communist views such as in the U.S and Anglomir, it could definitely be worse. The culture of the people however... It's still deplorable, and I am fully behind the many organizations dedicated to supporting our comrades across-the-waves in providing for their families and voicing out their opinions."

RE: Deliberated Correspondence of the Executive Council in Regards to the Request for Aid by the Honorable Brotherhood

To: The Honorable Brotherhood of the Men of the Sum Ting Wong Tong

CC: Pan-Asiatic States Federal Congress of Soviets (CoS)
Bcc: State Security Confidential Communication Division (SSCCD)

From: Secretary-General Guanyu Abramovich Jr. of the Pan-Asiatic States

    Good tidings,

THE PEOPLE'S FEDERATION OF THE PAN-ASIATIC STATES, having deliberated the strong public outcry of the oppressed proletariat peoples in TurtleShroom through the agenda of a clandestine congregation of the Executive Council (EC), acting under the moderation of its ruling Secretary-General, Guanyu "Abra" Abramovich Jr., last August 9th, in the Common Year 2019, at 12:00 P.M, at the capital of the Federation, Neo-Manila, has concluded with the collective consensus that the leadership of the Pan-Asiatic States will make the necessary steps towards the armament of the under-classed turtles, mushrooms, and men of TurtleShroom on the civil, social, and political fronts in order to, as per the request of the Brotherhood, gear the society of your nation towards a revolutionary praxis and a People's War.

Owing to its historical development, Communism in TurtleShroom has indeed actively been considered taboo by its rulers; as you and your organization so fittingly describes the context of your struggle to be. While we have consolidated the socialist society in the Pan-Asiatic States, the Council recognizes that many nations still suffer under the despots of old, TurtleShroom included. The workers of TurtleShroom have no voice, no means to organize, and any attempts to institute socialism will be crushed savagely by the withstanding "democratic" regime. We cannot wait for the gears of the international revolution to turn for the people of TurtleShroom. With our Socialist-Orientalist revolution in Asia we have proven that we could crush the capitalist oppressors here, and it is our hope that you will be able to crush the bourgeois in your nation as well. We look forward to the victory of the proletariat in your nation, and the consolidation of Communism throughout the world.

However, do not be deluded by the encouragement we have provided you, for the emancipation of the oppressed peoples in TurtleShroom will not be an easy task. In order for the Orientalist ascension of your nation to be truly Orientalist, it must be self-reliant and ruthless. Given the current political context of the Pan-Asiatic States in the status quo as well, I am sure that you can understand the diplomatic consequences which we would like to avoid as the leading body of the Federation.

As much as we wish your struggle the best, we cannot disturb the theater of powers on a truly open scale, and our military cannot directly intervene in disarming the dark military forces of the ruling-class: what we can give you are the tools you need for your revolutionary struggle. It would be detrimental, not only for the morale of the budget conservatives in the weak-willed Pan-Asiatic Congress of Soviets (CoS), but also devastating to the credibility of the efforts of the Federation towards sustaining neutral peace abroad on behalf of organizations such as the World Assembly (WA).

Nevertheless, we wish to show your organization that our words are not simply the sweetened promises of a far-away Federation, and as such, would like to immediately present you with collateral material that will help you in the days ahead. It is in our best interest to gain your most esteemed respect in an attitude of cordiality. Therefore, this Executive Council has come to the consensus that, acting through the Ministry of Defense of the Pan-Asiatic States, we will, under the assumption of total confidentiality, license and approve the production and exportation of the following weapons in service of the Brotherhood's agenda:

        Image
      • 1,000x AK-24 Service Rifles, with 5 pouches (10 magazines' worth) of 5.45x39mm round caliber ammunition included per set

The AK-24 was the brainchild of combining the best aspects of both the AK-12 and AK-74M; the rifle was standardized and exported by the Soviet Union to modernize their and their allies' militaries following the Third Pacific War.
        Image
      • 500x Valladolid Model 5 Revolvers, with 5 pouches (10 magazines' worth) of 9.07 mm round caliber ammunition included per set

The Type 8 or Valladolid Model 5 Revolver boasts stainless steel, lightweight designs, a high caliber and a sturdy receiver packed into a heavy revolver.

Ideally, the weapons will arrive by convoy off the coast of TurtleShroom's maritime border. Further coordination in the reception of these armaments can commence between the Ministry of Defense and your Brotherhood after this communique. Details for further communication are attached to this digital document.

As much as we present to your 'Brotherhood' these blessings in mostly good faith, the Council hopes to see as well that its faith in your revolution and your competence towards waging a People's War in TurtleShroom are not unfounded. We expect nothing less of these gifts but to see the results of what an armed Brotherhood can do.

Best of luck in your conflict, Comrades. We will keep in touch.

      Forefathers guide us all.

      Yours Truly,

6th National Revolutionary France wrote:The populist revolution in France against globalist austerity had been successful and now the new leader President LeFrancois was taking a diplomatic trip to the Pan-Asiatic States in hopes of establishing revolutionary ties with the Asian Government and meeting with various top officals. Cotam 001 had begun to land at New Manila International Airport. Out walked the revolutionary brother leader with 10 body guards, President LeFrancois was a seasoned revolutionary that had fought on battlefields allover the world before overthrowing the French government and installing himself as leader.

August 11th, 2019
Ninoy Aquino International Airport
Metropolitan Neo-Manila

President LeFrancois was received by the Pan-Asiatic government in good health, and was welcomed down the Cotam 001 by the Secretary-General, the Supreme Commissary, and their cabinet. The government bureaucrats went through the standard procedure of, one by one, having their hands shaken by the visiting leader in front of national television. A small crowd of patriotic Asians in hooded windbreakers (some even, as a form of commendation, in yellow workers' jackets), braved the stormy August weather holding flags of the new French revolutionary government, as well as the Pan-Asiatic States', in order to welcome the foreign premier.

"Greetings, Mister President. Welcome to the Orient.", lightly-spoke the Secretary-General as he gave the President a firm handshake, inaudible to the reporters who stood-by with long-necked microphones and camera paparazzi.

Any emissaries which the French President brought with him would be escorted to the Neo-Manila Hotel, wherein an entire floor had been reserved for the French President for security purposes. Any talks that would occur between Revolutionary France and the Pan-Asiatic States would take-place at the same building, on its 45th floor, at a wide conference hall where the two nations could even-out a proper international, socio-civic, and economic agenda. The residence was within a short distance to the Malacañang Palace, and thus, was easily accessible to the Secretary-General as well.

Moralistic Democracy

Postby Oslea » Sat Aug 10, 2019 6:46 pm

Herman's act had inspired dozens of copycat incidents throughout Oslea. The Oriental Standard was found sprayed on government installations, flags, and in one notable instance - on a statue of the nation's founder.
It was not just him. Many others shared his longing for Asian self-governance.

Delarosa began to see that, perhaps, his dream was not as impossible as he thought. Knowing that others shared his goal, he began to seriously pursue the creation of a united front for an Orientalist-Socialist Oslea - for its original people - into a reality.

Through friends, acquaintances, and online forums, he soon built up a network of like-minded activists. All with a ravenous hunger to change the status quo.

Herman deliberated on next steps. For him, these were uncharted waters. History books would generally associate a Socialist revolution with armed struggle, but with the current state of the Movement - still to be named - a violent revolution was laughably impossible. There were no funds, no weapons, and barely enough manpower to rival an Oslean Army platoon. Of course, even with those things - Herman's Movement would still need to somehow come face-to-face with a well-equipped military force with multiple successful foreign counterinsurgency operations under its belt.

He had to ask for guidance. Fishing a somewhat-suspect email address out of a leaked Oslean Foreign Affairs correspondence document, he hoped that the following Hail Mary of a message would at least make its way through the spam filter.

To: The Pan-Asiatic Ministry of Foreign Affairs (REDACTED EMAIL ADDRESS)
From: Herman Delarosa (hdelarosa1131@omail.os)
Received: 2019 August 10 18:43

Dearest Comrades,

In the event that this message finds its way to you - please allow me to explain why you are receiving this message from a lowly, humble, and begrudging citizen of the Oslean Congressional Republic.

My name is Herman Delarosa. I am writing to you, on behalf of the comrades I have gathered here in my country, to realize an Orientalist-Socialist Oslea. We are requesting guidance - and support, if possible - in pursuit of this goal.

Unlike previous successful Socialist revolutions, we are frankly not confident that similar armed struggle is the solution in Oslea. One man with an assault rifle cannot feasibly come toe-to-toe with an Abrams tank. The imperialist military employed by my nation has extensive experience in counterinsurgency operations, and I fear that if we were to raise our arms for an Asian-governed Oslea, the only movement we would make is six feet further into the ground.

We are also considering a peaceful approach based off of mass support for our goals, but truthfully I do not know if the government will capitulate no matter how loud we raise our voices. While we are a democracy, there will always be those in our country - namely, the colonizers - that would never be in support of such a goal. In the name of 'inclusion', I suspect that the current government would never allow us a voice in our country's affairs if we were to only play by the rules.

How can we surmount these obstacles? How can we emulate Pan-Asiatic success here?

We eagerly await your response.

Sincerely yours,
Comrade Herman Delarosa

Pump iron, Freeman, pump iron, soldier,
Be strong like armor-grade steel
Forge your will on the anvil of exercise,
Hammer your body with sport!

Sergeant Jarvis Ngo strained with all of his might. His hands, clad in thin black gloves, pushed against the cold, ridged surface of the bar. For the fraction of a second, he felt something like fear – a fear he would not admit, of course, perhaps not even to himself. He imagined the vast weight dislodging, somehow, from his hands, and falling onto his throat.

Years ago, as a boy of fourteen, exercising in his family's basement, Jarvis had actually let go of the bar. He was not injured, then, but for terrible minutes, he was trapped, one end of the barbell propped up uncomfortably against the wall, the other against the floor. Jarvis realized, of course, he was not in danger – he did not want to scream for help, to alert his father and uncle that he had made the barbell too heavy for himself, and that he's been using it against his father's warnings. For long, humiliating minutes, the boy wiggled in the self-made trap, until he finally managed to free himself.

The eleven years that had intervened have altered Ngo in body and in spirit. He was not much taller than he was then, and he was still slender. His shoulder was now tattooed with a growling panther, when he raised the bar, his muscles could be seen moving back and forth under the skin, as if some machine was laboring, moving pistons of copper as it moved the barbell.

The air in the room was chill and clean, like it had been in his father's basement eleven years ago, but everything else was different. As the barbell moved back and forth, Ngo was not alone at the bench – his friend, Trevor Kang, stood watch over him. Where Jarvis was slender and swift, standing less than five and a half feet tall, Trevor was nothing short of immense. He was so tall his friends joked that if he and Ngo died, Trevor could make use of all all the wood that would could be saved on Jarvis' coffin. His hands stood at the ready to grasp the bar should Jarvis suddenly run out of breath.

And where the basement of Jarvis' home had once been quiet, here music floated through the air, soaked into the soldiers' minds and bodies, filling them with rhythm and purpose.

Tattoos and muscles, reflexes and willpower,
Fury in each ounce of flesh.
Our hearts beat with hatred for slavers and communists,
A tireless motor of hate!
Glory to Freemen, glory to warriors, slayers of fascist scum,
Pump iron, Freemen, pump iron, soldier,
Tomorrow again will be ours!

Thirteen… fourteen… fifteen… – Trevor counted as his friend's arms moved. As always, Jarvis strained himself to lift the weight one extra time, in case either of them had been wrong in the count. He placed the chromed steel on its rest, and finally relaxed on the bench. The sweat ran down his face and into his eyes, and, as he smiled with satisfaction, he could feel the pain in his palms and arms. This was the good pain – not the pain of injury, but the slight burning pain that let him know that his body was learning, already beginning to rebuild itself to be stronger.

Smiling still, Jarvis reached for his water bottle. The water was ordinary bottled water – as good or bad as any other kind – but right now it felt like it'd been fetched from Olympus. "Now," – he said to Trevor, "what's next? The reverse cu-"

"Good morning, Sergeant Ngo," – he heard a woman's voice, an easily recognizable one.

"Yes," – he turned, "General Nayman?"

She nodded. She was only slightly taller than Jarvis, but unlike him, she was dressed in her, mossy-green camouflage uniform. Of course, being out of uniform, Jarvis had no need to salute.

"Have you been following the news cycle, Ngo?"

"I'm afraid not, General Nayman. Is there something… requiring a team of Operatives?" – he felt the excitement rising within him.

"Not quite yet, but entirely possible. There are some 'pan-Asian' Maoists who want to try some shit. They're infiltrating their men into a range of countries where there are people who share their culture."

"I'm a certified Japanese and Vietnamese speaker." – he said.

"Japanese won't be of much help – except maybe at getting you killed. Those people hate Japanese. Vietnamese, however. That has potential."

Kang nodded.

"Korean, three dialects of Chinese." – the mountainous Operative said.

"Very good. Your first assignment is to meet up with the other Operatives who have appropriate language skills. Get a plane to New Themopilae International Airport. Then catch a connecting flight. Prepare yourself for a long and extended FID mission."

"Option for direct action?" – Trevor Kang asked.

"I appreciate your interest, Sergeant Kang. Unfortunately at this point kinetic opportunities are projected to be limited. Principal task is FID. I expect you to train the locals, not snap them on your knee." – she said. For a brief moment, Jarvis thought she was smiling wistfully. "But stay on your toes. You know how these things are. They are in flux. "

"Yes, General." – Kang nodded in affirmation.

"So really, you shouldn't be sad. Talk to your family. Get your bag. You've got a flight to catch."

The People's Federation of Pan-Asiatic States
Oslea's social media sites had been abuzz with a plethora of pro-Orientalist advocacies for democratic reform and greater representation, just as any other democratic country would have dissent and civilian ideologues. But two factors that seemed to be peculiar about their case was that it seemed to have erupted an entire movement as a direct cause of the Secretary-General's calling during his 2019 SONA, and the historical context of the nation as a post-colonial nation founded by Oriental peoples in the first place.

Indeed, it seemed that Oslea had very uniquely Asian characteristics as a nation, and its people very much reflected that fact. Various communities of Asians seemed to have inhabited the nation since its conception, and they seemed very much attune to the Oslean way of life, their ancestors having fought alongside the very revolutionaries who established their modern state. In other words, a majority of the aforementioned considered itself not just diasporic settlers separated from their 'true' homeland, but fully-fledged members of Oslean society.

Ethnic strife went hand-in-hand with economic depression, as globalized markets conceded to the will of a rising Asia. When jobless numbers grew and markets began to stagnate, Oslean politicians used the indigenous Asian population as a scapegoat. From the foundation of the Federation until today, the government of the Pan-Asiatic States had always seen this as a trivial matter, and had always sought to maintain cordial relations with the Oslean government despite such hardships experienced by their own kin.

Globalized internet access was, at least according to law, forbidden to the average Asian citizen. Government bureaucrats and VPN users who bypassed this restriction, however, had become exceedingly interested in the outspoken ideologues of Oslea who sought civic and cultural reform towards unity between their nations' various ethnic Asian communities; especially since the most recent attacks on government property which have raised many of the issues which the Asian diaspora in Oslea have faced for the past few decades back into the limelight.

The Pan-Asiatic Ministry of Foreign Affairs was the artery of the Pan-Asiatic States' international relations, and its focal building, a pitch-black skyscraper with an equilateral foundation, truly reflected this. Abuzz in its windowless offices were 9-5 everyday government grinders who had made for themselves like ants in a colony. Everything was paced, everyone was identical.

On the floor of the media office of the Diplomat Advisory, Recommendation, and Registration Board (DARRB), several entry-level white-collared workers oversaw the profiling of applicants bound for the Appropriations and Approval Committee of the Asian Diplomat's Cadre (ADC). In one particular cubicle, that of Mr. Lei Hui's, a small congregation of government bureaucrats had assembled around a VPN-loaded state-sponsored computer, taking a break from their toxic line of work, to browse one of Oslea's more popular news forums. They chuckled at the video of a scrawny Asian boy struggling to get the Oriental Standard atop an Oslean government building.

"I've got to say, the kids' got balls.", exclaimed Lei Hui himself, who simultaneously peaked over his office's cubicle to check if any of their directors were making rounds on the employees.

"I mean, I guess so. Still, there's tons of these cases online. I didn't even think Comrade Abra himself believed he could've gotten this much traction. Orientalism as an actual political ideology doesn't even have any real enough tenets to distinguish itself from Marxist-Leninist-Maoism other than the idea that NATO or SACTO or other Western death-squad organizations are out to feast on developing countries. And we all already know that, I'd like to think. Orientalism's just a buzzword the Administration uses to prove they're making progress.", pessimistically stated Lei Hui's officemate, Alexander Peng, who continued scrolling through the forum.

"You're implying other countries don't also have buzzwords to keep us all in check," retorted Aireez Du, a young female intern. "The Soviets 'stabilize' countries, the Americans 'civilize' them, and we 'liberate' them from the other two. The difference is, we actually aid the countries we take back from the Capitalists. We don't conquer anyone. Like how we freed Palestine from Israel."

The congregation continued to read through a few more foreign media sources, spectating all sorts of havoc and chaos occurring throughout the multiverse. Conflicts were erupting in some corners of the world, whilst some resolving in others. The circle of life and politics, as it is and has been.

Later that day however, in the same building, a secretary to the Undersecretary of the Pan-Asiatic Ministry of Foreign Affairs (however meta that may sound), received a rather sketchy email from a random Oslean citizen. Usually such foreign emails were post-rejection re-applications for certain foreign workers' and specialists' quotas implemented as per standard procedure of various Pan-Asiatic foreign work programs: like a German citizen from the DDR who'd failed to meet a certain requirement for a work program in the Pan-Asiatic States wanting to beg for mercy that he be let in. For such reasons, a large portion of the emails that the Undersecretary's secretary would receive is filtered into the spam box. The sheer magnitude of such emails meant that most were delayed by at least a day. By fate, chance, karma, or miracle, Herman Delarosa's was not disregarded by the Ministry's filters; and perhaps for good reason as well, for had it not been so it would not have found its way to the proper audience.

Earlier today, Zhan Yahui-Molotov Sr., a crony of previous administrations, retired from his line of work as the Undersecretary for the Pan-Asiatic Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be replaced by the Secretary-General's wife, Katrina Nishikino-Abramovich, who had assumed her position by right of a fair democratic process.

The newly-elected Undersecretary, a colorful and vibrant middle-aged woman, attended to her duties immediately. As she settled into her new office, she noticed that her secretary had forwarded to her the inquiries of a relatively unimportant citizen from Oslea. The message was relayed to her without context. She supposed that her secretary felt it important enough to be attended to by her, and thus, she thought that should probably reciprocate her own attention towards it.

She would eventually reply to the young man from Oslea in a formal tone through an informal communique:

Good tidings,

Hello, Mr. Delarosa.

I'm sure that you wouldn't have expected your message to be conveyed to a popular authority of the Pan-Asiatic States such as myself, but allow this private communication to be the first of the many efforts I will attempt to make for the remainder of my term as acting Undersecretary to connect with the average people of the countries the Pan-Asiatic States seeks friendship and cooperation with. I firmly believe in the will of the little peoples of this world, and I think I speak for both my husband and the Sixth Administration as well when I say this (though I suppose I am in no de jure authority to fully reflect this position).

On behalf of the government of the People's Federation, allow me to relay my gratitude, for I am deeply honored that you and a number of Osleans feel a sense of connection towards the ideals of the Pan-Asiatic States. It was truly an unlikely event for us to believe that Oslean society still bore resistance to the colonial ideas of the Occident. I will be the first to admit that the perception of many of my compatriots in government towards cultural restoration in your Congressional Republic is bleak and unlikely.

However, the times have changed, especially with the resurgence of an Oriental foothold in the global community, and it is through the voices of people like you, Mr. Delarosa, that we fully hope to emancipate the indigenous peoples of the world.

I too am a pacifist like you, and if I'm being honest, I disagree with my husband's point of view on revolutionary ideology. I think that what we did in our youth, in the 90s during the Cultural Revolution and during the Third Pacific War, is a form of bringing about change through violent protest that is no longer truly relevant in this century's context. Now is the struggle of the pen, it is a twilight struggle of those without a voice being given the tools to speak-up against authority against those who have always had a voice, slowly losing their control over their traditional propaganda outlets.

You have come before us asking how to truly affect an Orientalist reform in your country. However, the answer has been in your inquiry the entire time. The true Orientalist revolution is brought-about by the indigenous peoples themselves against the system, it is your very right to self-determination as a clearly-defined community. Ultimately, the question of the means you will assume in order to achieve your ideological goals lies in your hands and your hands alone.

As we have always stood for, let us developed countries, like my Fatherland the Pan-Asiatic States, become your new media, your new voice, your outlet for change in your battle against neo-imperialism. I do not know the strength of your organization, nor the traction you have gained as a political community, but those with the drive and capability to enact real change are always welcome to be provided ideological assistance by the Pan-Asiatic Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But these vary according to the size of your organization, its alignment to Pan-Asiatic foreign policy, and the measures you're willing to take in order to achieve your goal.

The People's Party of the Republic of Bruke, an officially-recognized libertarian-left political party in Bruke for example, recently established a political consulate in Neo-Manila, where permanent ambassadors provided by the People's Party constantly seek aid in kind and in advice from advisers of the Asian Communist Party (ACP).

For militant organizations, it is already a well-taken precedent that we regularly fund Orientalist insurgencies in many different countries. But of course, you have already said that it is not your desire to do so.

What I recommend for you and your people, however, Mr. Delarosa, is that you yourselves visit our office in Neo-Manila along with the leader of this Socialist-Orientalist organization in your nation. Hopefully we could do so without attracting too much media attention. Perhaps we could reach an official consensus on the issue of Oslean politics in accordance to your nations' particular civic contexts?

Nevertheless, we hope you get back to us soon.

Sincerely yours,
Katrina Nishikino-Abramovich
Undersecretary to the Pan-Asiatic Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Undersecretary was almost entirely sure that a lowly citizen like this Mr. Delarosa could not refuse an offer from the Undersecretary of the Pan-Asiatic States. Of course, by official consensus, she meant that she wanted to utilize a strategy of undermining the Congressional Republic that previous Asian leaders had used in the past. Sometimes, organized resistance only needs a little... well, organization.

As they were doing in Bruke, the Pan-Asiatic States could easily make Congresspeople out of anyone daring enough to try to captain their nation with views aligned to the Pan-Asiatic States'. The Pan-Asiatic Ministry of Foreign Affairs kept entire clandestine dossiers for such purposes, locked-up in a vault at the depths of their Ministry's basement.

Alongside the Ministry of State and Public Security, it was their work that actually ran the Pan-Asiatic economy. They had been sowing the seeds towards the rise of the Pan-Asiatic States since the beginning of the One Belt, One Road initiative. Katrina, a confidant of her Machiavellian husband, was fully aware of this. She was simply doing her job.

The Asian Federal Gendarme, the AFG, the People's Police; they went by many names. But whatever you referred to them as, however you decided to sugarcoat their job by, their purpose was simple: to keep everyone in line, or if they couldn't do that, to make everyone feel that everyone else was in line.

Traditionally, the Pan-Asiatic States had never been a police state, because unsurprisingly, when democracy is pushed to its limits and the common man begins to represent himself, people also begin to realize that having a gun to their head 24/7 was not very delightful or even utilitarian to society at large. In the 1990s, in place of a formal and well-funded police corps was a proxy police force so that the proletariat could take most of the nation's justice into their own hands. The time of the Cultural Revolution saw the mass execution of landlords, debt-collectors, CEOs, bank managers, and corrupt officials.

The truth is, the people of the Pan-Asiatic States continue their streaks of violence against those they deem pull society down to this day, but on a less state-sponsored scale. Loose gun laws, faulty constitutional provisions, and an under-classed gendarme had caused the extermination of many foreigners both indigenous (present before the Ban on Free Travel) and immigrant (visiting or on official business) to go dead or missing every once in a while. Most of the time, by the hand of an under-educated Party hardliner.

But perhaps the Asians had reason to suspect their white neighbors. After all, in March of this year, their very own Supreme Commissary had been slain at the hands of a foreign operative, suspected to hail from the Oberkonigreich of Anglomir. Everyone sought retribution, or, at least, they had found a scapegoat for retribution against the foreigners who had done them personal wrong.

For the Federation, it was a messy affair that often caused them to apologize every so often and quell cases that had become issues of international controversy. But the dreaded Ministry of State and Public Security (MSPS), instead of clamping-down on domestic violence perpetuated by their own citizenry, decided to internalize the culture rather than admit their incompetence. Realizing they had to use the paranoia-induced funding they had received from Congress in the wake of the March 25 Uprising, they decided to invest it in a well-coordinated campaign of 're-education'. Murder took political capital to cover-up, but detention made the patriotic Asian feel safe and most often than not did not cause a diplomatic crisis.

Under the clandestine directive of the acting Supreme Commissary, Ren Cao, who hoped to emulate the work he was doing in Northern China in major Metropolitan areas, an unnamed and unidentified unit of gendarme had begun a campaign to incriminate certain groups of "occidentals" as criminals, usually for the crime of treason, illegal surveillance, or illegal gambling, to paint the picture that the Pan-Asiatic States was still actively being undermined by foreign operatives.

The truth was, the Supreme Commissary knew that the nation had to be ready for a new wave of such attacks. He knew that the reason for the assassination of his predecessor was lackluster gendarme funding coupled with a bad attitude towards a 'good policing'. His successes in Northern China had already paid-off: the frightened population became increasingly more vocal on the Pan-Asiatic internet against "border-crossing leeches" from the Soviet Union and the Arab States. But the capital peoples, often the breeding ground for rational thinking by youthful activists and political scientists, who also had the most access to social platforms, continued to resist. He was determined to begin changing their mindset tonight.

On the night of August 11th, a young Kjalaaran couple rested easy in their apartment in the Laurel District of Metropolitan Neo-Manila. The two, who were innocently spending the last of their long work-leave in a rented accommodation surrounded by the finest malls Asia could offer, had enjoyed their stay in the Pan-Asiatic States thus far. They kept out of politics as much as they could and had kept their heads low.

Unluckily for them, Kjalaara had been one of the foremost advocates of economic sanctions against the Pan-Asiatic States during the early days of March and was in a proactive alliance with Anglomir. Their blonde-toned hair and white facial features made them easy prey for the vultures of the gendarme.

The lights and electronics of their room were suddenly cut in the middle of the night. Men with automatic weapons and a marking-less uniform burst-in to knock them unconscious before they could even scream, dragging the two foreigners out of their beds and into a tinted black van without reason or warning. The endeavor took less than 10 minutes. No witnesses were had.

They would awaken the following morning in a detention center alongside many other "missing" foreigners to the Pan-Asiatic States, somewhere in the mountainous province of Nueva Ecija from where they could never escape. Kjaalara and the Pan-Asiatic States had no extradition treaty, mostly because of the cold relations between the two countries. The gendarme would foretell of their participation in an illegal arms trade the next day and how they were to be tried by a snap judiciary, most likely carrying the sentence of "re-education"; clear-cut lies meant to discredit Kjalaara and its people. They would be tortured until they admitted to the crime, and most likely would spend the next 10 years of their lives in a tropical gulag, farming and tending to state-sold marijuana.

Central Precinct
Laurel District Gendarme Department (LDGD)
Metropolitan Neo-Manila

It was nearly morning yet the sun still refused to shine on the LDGD's central precinct. The vibrant marketplaces of the Laurel District had all mostly closed-down at this hour. In the distance, 24/7 offices remained functional, but in this sleepy area of the metropolitan, they seemed to be but specks of light amidst a dreary night, like man-made stars gazing at you from the horizon.

A gendarme van returned from its duty, but no siren blared on its way to the precinct. Its prisoners had been unloaded, and the crew of the operation disembarked to go home to their respective state-assigned spouses. Emerging from its tinted doors were those members of the Asian Federal Gendarme with specific tasks to be had, those who are not known among the policemen of the precinct, those with faces covered in masks that hid their humanity. Everyone knew what they were for, but nobody knew who they were.

These wolves of the Pan-Asiatic State were, in fact, members of the Ministry of State and Public Security (MSPS), selected personally by the Supreme Commissary for their dedication to the Asian Communist Party. However, they consistently branded themselves (if there ever was gossip about them) as handpicked members of the Asian Federal Gendarme, so that if any fault were to occur, it would not be placed on the incompetence of the MSPS.

Truly they were not the masterminds of the scapegoat initiative which had secretly blanketed the Pan-Asiatic States in order to mobilize its citizenry into a more ideologically-inclined position, they were the scapegoat themselves. Here was nothing but a complex array and system of scapegoats designed to compartmentalize any doubts or investigations that could be made by the public if something were to go terribly wrong.

Operator Guinevere, the leader of the night's contingent, was the first to step out of the vehicle, who optimistically began to hum an old Maoist tune on her way out.

Operator Siddhartha, who had been responsible for knocking-out the couple with the butt of his HAR-87 Indigenous Assault Rifle, went next, with an expressionless face, alongside the rest of the team, and walked alongside them towards their locker rooms. They would not speak a word of the acts they had committed, not even to their eagerly-awaiting loved ones.

As they took-off their masks, they re-instated their humanity. Guinevere lit a cigar, and sang the last few lines of the hypnotic song she had been humming:

放心吧祖国 放心吧亲人
为了胜利我要勇敢前进

(At ease, my loved ones; at ease, my homeland,
I will march on bravely towards victory.)

Herman's Flat
Celene, State of Montoya, Oslea

Herman Delarosa's residence was a rather modest studio apartment, adorned with cheap, utilitarian, but sturdy Swedish furniture. Placed on the 27th floor of an inner-city condominium, his rent was subsidized by a government low-income housing initiative; there was no way he could make even half this rent without their assistance. (His meager wage as a warehouse worker did not provide for much.) He knew there was a certain irony in biting the hand that fed him, but the hunger for justice deep down within him overrode any doubts of him proceeding.

Oslean-printed posters of Comrade Abra lined his walls, his publishings and musings in hardcover copy on his coffee table. Herman hadn't made his way through the entirety of Comrade Abra's collection yet, but he was on his way.

He deliberated on his reply,

To: Undersecretary Katrina Nishikino-Abramovich of the Pan-Asiatic Ministry of Foreign Affairs (katrina.abramovich@pas.gov.asi)
From: Herman Delarosa (hdelarosa1131@omail.os)
Received: 2019 August 11 21:01

Greetings Undersecretary Nisikino-Abramovich,

Thank you for responding to my email. Truthfully, I did not anticipate a response, much less from someone with a reputation and position as yours, Undersecretary. My comrades and myself are truly humbled.

If you would allow me to be frank - we are a loosely-organized movement that I now estimate to be 20,000 people strong, growing daily. I hesitate to call myself a leader; I am merely the first one to come forward and collect like-minded allies into a common forum.
We all aspire to see an Oslea broken from its centuries-old chains of colonial oppression, and return to its original state as an Asian-governed nation. We want to see the dismantling of the current political system to one that truly serves the true people of this land. Not one that exploits or neglects it.

As I am sure you know, the democratic political landscape of my country has been generally dominated between three parties. None have ever raised the question of Asian self-determination explicitly.
  • The Modern National (or Modernist) Party - A centrist party currently in power. The MN attempts to balance economic matters while funding projects and initiatives to advance the country technologically in the name of 'prosperity'. They have been quite successful, having been in power for the last 18 years, though not without a few major scandals. At times, their projects seem rather flashy or lacking in public benefits when compared to their cost, though I must admit that others have been lauded as marvels (namely the cross-Oslean Maglev Rail Line).
  • The Congressional Responsibility Party - A conservative, right wing branch. CRP presidents aim to curtail spending, usually at the expense of those less-fortunate. Popular with the colonizers.
  • The Oslean People's Party - A left wing party seeking to expand welfare spending and reduce any spending on corporate subsidies and initiatives, including larger expensive projects. From discussions I've had with their members, they are unwilling to see Asian-self determination as an platform item.

As you can see, there is little space for a new contender in this realm without splitting the democratic vote. Though perhaps I am too narrow-minded; we have not tried.

I must mention that there has also been a simmering resentment towards the Oslean government for the discrimination against our peoples over the last few decades. I know that some of us would want to pursue a more forceful path to our goals.

Regardless, I would be most honoured to visit your office in Neo-Manila with a few more of my comrades, and further discuss how to advance the goals of Socialism and Orientalism. It is not uncommon for Oslean citizens to travel abroad for leisure. Admittedly I am not familiar with the intricacies of the Pan-Asiatic States' travel policies, but I am confident there is a way to obscure the intentions of our comrades to my government at home.

We shall begin making arrangements immediately. Serve the People!

Sincerely yours,
Comrade Herman Delarosa

Herman clicked the send button, and relaxed with a glass of whiskey. His friends would not believe this communique, although he did want to gather a few of his more-educated brethren as advisors on this upcoming trip. Herman had little in the way of tertiary education, although he did know a few people that did.

Before calling it a night, he decided to check on the status of his online posts - it seemed that people were quite receptive. On Oslea's most popular discussion forum - Alleycat.os - he was slowly gathering and gauging support for the Movement's next large initiative under the handle 'ComradeLuna,' echoing one of his homeland's most famous Generals. What that initiative exactly was, he did not know. He was hoping he would have an answer after his meeting with the Pan-Asiatic States, but he also knew people were eager to act. Perhaps too eager.

Penetrating the rhythmic clacking of keyboards and shuffling of clerks in the background beyond the meeting room was an exclamation tinted with a mix of anger and annoyance. The other uniformed men and women in the room - a mix of military, political, intelligence, and policing leaders - found themselves taken aback.

"Can someone here explain?" The short, fair-skinned man slammed a thick folder labeled "ORIENTAL STANDARD INCIDENTS" onto the table and slid it to the center. He pushed his spectacles up and focused his gaze on a rather portly police chief from the City of Celene in the State of Montoya. It had all started in his area first. Serving as the Director of OCIS, Director Benedict Park was a rather stern man - one who preferred to get straight to the point, and had little regard for those who lacked competency. Descending from a half-Asian, half-Western heritage, he firmly believed in the infallibility and justice he perceived in the Oslean way of governance, and had little regard for the atrocities faced by his ancestors. In his mind, he was Oslean first; he saw no connection to his heritage. The past was the past.

"We are meeting here because your men cannot find a bunch of graffiti taggers. You have had a week with little progress, and now the President himself has asked for Federal intervention in this investigation. He has asked the Oslean Central Intelligence Service to take the lead."

"I am not happy about having to spend my resources fixing your problem. But President Wong decreed it, so it shall be. You have twenty four hours to provide my agency with all the intelligence you have on any related incident. Your officers will assist my personnel with any inquiry on this matter and will prioritize this as such. I do not care if your men are chasing the World's Most Wanted Genocidal Pedophile-"

The Montoyan Police Chief chuckled.

"Do you think this is a laughing matter, Chief Masterson? Perhaps I should just say, Retired Chief Robert Masterson. You will be relieved of your duties and rank upon return to Celene. Security, please remove this incompetent buffoon from this meeting."

As two officers entered the room and forcibly removed Masterson from the table - albeit with some difficult due to his size - Director Park continued.

"I do not care if your men are chasing whatever high profile criminal is out there at the time. Assistance to my agents will be authorized. These incidents may be evidence of foreign intervention on Oslean soil - therefore, this is a matter of national security and will be treated as such. Dismissed.

Benedict Park exited the meeting room in haste, rushing to his next appointment with the President for a briefing on the recent rash of Pan-Asiatic graffiti. Matching his pace was one of his aides, who presented a printout of an Alleycat post.

"This movement's spreading like wildfire, sir; look at this. Propagated by some 'ComradeLuna.' Just by searching through this guy's Alleycat commenting history beyond the one post, we can reasonably conclude he's a warehouse worker from Celene seeking passage to the Pan-Asiatic States. Perhaps on a bit of Political Tourism?"

"Comrade Luna," Director Park inquired, a quizzical look on his face. "Just like that General that got shot by his own men. Lot of warehouse workers in Celene, but not many that can afford a plane ticket out of here. If any warehouse worker asks for passage out of the country with a Celene Passport Office-issued document, have him tailed and monitored. Especially if they're Filipino. I see there's also a donation link on there - trace it. It's bound to come out to someone's name, talk to the Domestic Revenue Agency if you need help."

"Oh, and send me the link to that post. I need some bedtime reading."

"Of course," the aide replied. "And sir - after your meeting with the President, I've had to reshuffle your 2:00pm afternoon meeting to one including the Secretary of Defense. It's on that recent explosion at Camp Dawnstar. We're hoping it's just some poor private that mishandled a grenade, but the timing from the previous Oriental Standard-tagging event there is just too suspicious."

My friends - this is Comrade Luna. The first Oriental Standard tagger. (You might have seen me on here before.) If I may have a minute of your time?

We Asians - including, but not limited to us of Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, and Malaysian descent- have been under the yoke of colonial oppression for centuries. We were promised equality, prosperity, and preservation of our way of life. We received none, and are expected to integrate and assimilate wholly without recompense. By Oslean law we are equal, but in reality; we all face discrimination in our own separate ways.

After two centuries, it is enough. While we should have started then, it is better late than never. Let us come together and act towards a united Oslea that truly Serves the People. We must call for change towards a government that serves more than colonial interests, with a loud and united voice. The Colonial cultural, governmental, and military institutions are truly great obstacles to overcome, but I believe we can prevail. The world has seen success before in the Pan-Asiatic States. At home, seeing so many comrades act in solidarity by spreading the Oriental Standard throughout the country is only the beginning of a promising journey.

Let us show Oslea that we exist. Let us tell our Congressmen we exist, and demand representation. This is call to action, my friends. Demonstrations! Protests! Activism!
Many of you are already in like-minded clubs and societies; come together! If you have not found us yet, please feel free to join one of our many social media presences online. You can find the latest information on upcoming campaigns and efforts there.

There is no obligation to do so, but please consider donating at the link below. The proceeds will go towards organizing further efforts to reverse the colonial malaise in our country. I will be planning something large in the next two weeks with some of my fellow Montoyan comrades, but we need your help to make it a reality.

You can contribute to the cause here - anything is appreciated:

Thank You, and Serve the People! Talk soon.

Your friend,
Comrade Luna

Pan-Asiatic States wrote:"Is there any society more repugnant to the future of the revolution, any more alien to the plight of the worker, than the imperialist regime of the Kingdom of Avon?", speaks Minister of Defense (Honorable Datu) Jin-Hwan Yurievna on national television.

Galion

Prime Minister Richard Pitt read over the transcripts of the speeches from the Pan-Asiatic States. As a veteran political operator, he recognized campaign speaking when he saw it. The rhetoric was high and mighty but devoid of substance or policy: it would sound good on television and make the voters remember the speaker as strong on a nebulous foreign policy issue that they otherwise had no stake in. He had given similar speeches before, and he had helped his party coordinate many more speeches given by others. The Conservative Party had retained control of the government for nearly a decade thanks in part to speeches like this one, riling up the people against the foreign threat when domestic policies either failed to produce results or were in short supply.

Still, leaving those words as just words would be dangerous. For one, it would play poorly here in Avon. The tabloids and the independent cable news, such as it was, were already making the “threats” from the Minister of Defense. Pitt would have to respond or risk losing support as the more rabid of the conservative base defected to even more right-wing options in the next election. And the Prime Minister was beginning to worry that the rhetoric wasn’t just words – the Pan-Asiatic States were fighting multiple conventional conflicts already, so they were clearly willing to back up words with deeds. Remaining quiet now would embolden hardliners in their government and create more speeches like this one.

There was a knock and Pitt’s secretary cracked the door open slightly to announce that the Minister of State for the Eastern Department had arrived. Pitt gestured for her to admit Sir Andrew Clive, dressed in a freshly-pressed gray suit. The Eastern Minister was the scion of a wealthy family of traders and colonial entrepreneurs, with experience and connections in a number of Avonian colonies as well as hefty social and political clout in Galion. His experience had made him a natural choice for the position and so far he had proven to be an able, if unimaginative, administrator and diplomat. His main job was coordinating diplomatic relations with Sethru and Jamjah, two princely states bordering the Avonian colony of Panab. Insulindia had been a minor sideshow until recently. The Pan-Asiatic States hadn’t even been on the Avonian diplomatic radar, so to speak, until the Secretary-General’s speech some time ago.

“Good morning, Sir Andrew,” Pitt said as he rose from his seat for a handshake. “I trust the journey over from the office was pleasant?”

Today was a rare sunny day in Galion, and the sidewalks outside were full of middle- and upper-class families taking their children out to parks or the zoo. Poorer children played football in the street, scattering frequently as cars drove down the center of their asphalt pitch.

“Yes, fine,” Clive replied. “What’s the issue?”

“Right to business. These statements from the Pan-Asiatic States,” Pitt waved the transcript at the Minister. “I want us to issue a formal complaint to the PAS embassy and let them know we don’t appreciate being talked about in this way.”

“Will that be all, Prime Minister?” The tone of Clive’s voice suggested that there had better be something else to justify dragging him all the way to Pitt’s office from the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry several blocks away. Pitt grabbed another sheet of paper from off of his desk.

“I’ve spoken with the War Ministry,” he explained. “Minister Fairfax has agreed that the situation in Insulindia could escalate, what with this rhetoric out of the Pan-Asiatic States. A battalion of the Paras is en route, and another battalion of Marines as well.”

“I’m glad the government is recognizing the threat,” Clive responded. “I will inform Lord Banten.” William Darby, Lord Banten, served as Governor-General of the island of Insulindia. His title came from the castle that the Avon Royal Trading Company had built overlooking the port city that now bore the name Queenstown.

“Excellent. That will be all, Minister. Enjoy the rest of this lovely day.”

OFFICIAL DIPLOMATIC CORRESPONDENCE
FROM THE FOREIGN MINISTRY OF THE UNITED KINGDOM OF AVON
TO THE EMBASSY OF THE PEOPLE’S FEDERATION OF PAN-ASIATIC STATES

Ambassador,

On behalf of His Majesty William the Third, King of Lorain and Elyria in Union, and the Government of the United Kingdom, and the People of Avon,

I wish to formally register my Government’s strong disapproval of the recent speech given by Minister of Defense Jin-Hwan Yurievna on Xinhua News. This speech, which incorrectly identified this country as “the Kingdom of Avon” rather than its proper name, “the United Kingdom of Avon,” contained remarks which this Government considers insulting and generally unbecoming of a representative of the Government of the Pan-Asiatic States. Furthermore, the tone of rhetoric in the speech appeared to indicate that it is the open and avowed policy of Government of the People’s Federation of Pan-Asiatic States to pursue preparations for armed confrontation with the United Kingdom of Avon. This policy would indicate that the Pan-Asiatic States seeks to initiate an armed conflict with Avon without any cassus belli, a grave violation of international law and behavior wholly at odds with the expected behavior of a civilized state.

If the People’s Federation of Pan-Asiatic States wishes to repudiate the claims made in this message, then it is suggested that a sufficiently empowered official of your Government make a statement disavowing the rhetoric and policies contained in Minister of Defense Jin-Hwan Yurievna’s speech.

Cordially,
Sir Andrew Clive, His Majesty’s Minister of State for the Eastern Department

Queenstown

The nondescript car had attracted no attention as it drove down the clogged streets of the colonial capital. It looked just like the dozens of other cheap, foreign-made cars that people used to travel from their slum homes to the sweatshops where they eked out a subsistence living. No one paid it any mind as it drove up to the same Royal Insulindian Constabulary station where the young man had been imprisoned a few days earlier. At the wheel sat a different young man. He had lost one parent to an industrial accident, and another to disease in the crowded tenement housing where he had been raised. He had no family left anywhere. This had been why he had volunteered for this mission. The Red Band had asked for someone to strike the blow which would ignite the flames of revolution on Insulindia. Igniting that flame required a spark.

The car slowed down until it was idling on the side of the road, letting other cars pass around it to continue moving down the street. The Constabulary station was straight ahead. The driver took one deep breath, tightened his grip on the wheel, and pressed down on the accelerator. He continued to press down, slowly but firmly adding to the pressure until the pedal was flush with the floor. The Constabulary station got larger and larger as it got closer, filling the front window. The driver could just begin to make out the panicking Constables inside, running around trying to figure out what to do, when the car slammed into the wall just next to the front door. At the last possible moment, the driver pressed down on an ignition button and detonated the explosives filling up the back seats of the car. The southeast corner of the Constabulary station was swallowed up by smoke and flame.

Avon Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) News Wire: Car bomb destroys police station in Queenstown, Insulindia. Communist terrorists claim responsibility via taped statement delivered to local newspaper. Death toll estimated at between fifteen and twenty, and fifty reported wounded.

Official Release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

We continue seeing, in the East this time, the rise of an old, yet spectacularly toxic ideology – the combination of radical anti-capitalist view with radical racial-based nationalism. This time, this ideology is branded, it appears 'Pan-Asianism'. For those of you keeping score at home, I'd like to state that this time, it's not the Pan-Asianism that involves driving fighter planes into carrier deck for your religion and oppressing your neighbors this time it's a Pan-Asianism that includes committing terrorism and oppressing your neighbors.

It is important to explain, momentarily, that, like the most successful lies, the lie of Pan-Asianism that is being sold today, has within its foundation two kernels of truth. One is the fact that, yes, as a matter of fact, billions in Asia have the memory of awful oppression by colonialists. White colonialists have turned India from one of the wealthiest areas in the world to the poorest. In China, colonialist violence was – in the very words of the colonialists themselves – such that it was associated with the crimes of the Huns. In the Philippines, the United States Marines have 'liberated' thousands of Philippinos from Spanish rule, – in the same sense in which hanging a man in his prison cell frees him from facing trial.

It is also true, the PAS propagandists will tell you, that Asian peoples had long been oppressed by horrifying traditional governments and movements (and indeed, colonialist forces have worked hand-in-glove with many a local King, prince, raja or republic). Even under "democracy" the Philippines had at one point been ruled by a man who styled himself 'the new Hitler', and acted to imitate that man.

But the question remains, doe we put our trust in a movement just because it is called 'anticolonialist'? In the 1930s, 'Anti-Communist' was a code phrase that was used by Nazis to conceal their operation, and 'Anti-Fascist Committees' that were the front for Stalinism, whereas Imperial Japan had raised the banner for 'anti-Colonialism'. Hundreds of millions around the world were fooled. Those who, by inclination, cherished patriotism and – correctly – opposed Stalin's rule, often found themselves roped into committing awful crimes, or just dying for a regime that cared not for their concerns, or their ethics, nor for preserving capitalism. Those who, by inclination, cherished equality and freedom, and – correctly – opposed Hitlerism, would find themselves sometimes fighting on behalf a genocidal, racist regime that had placed millions in concentration camps. And of course thousands of Asians had welcomed Imperial Japan's soldiers, because they believed they were about to be liberated from the white man.

Then, after the war, came Maoism. Maoist war strategy had two important thrusts. One was the moral imperative to resist imperialism, and the other the moral imperative to resist capitalism. Maoists were, therefore, often at the front of fighting against the Portuguese, the British, the Belgians, the drug-addled Rhodesians, and so on. Millions of people, who had felt the boot on their face for generation, rose to the banners of Marxism-Leninism or outright Maoism.

And, of course, here is where Mao's guerrilla manuals came in strong: they argue for targeting, before even the foreign colonialist, the people who support him, the people who trade with him, whatever. Therefore, an awful pattern evolved – the people who suffered the most in the post-colonial world were the people that everyone wanted to help. They could have had their son killed in the morning by the colonialists, and before the grave was even covered up, they would have had another grave to dig, because the anti-colonialists had killed another son, to 'deprive the white farmers of manpower'.

So, now we return to the new PAS 'anti-colonial' doctrine. They seek to liberate Asians from colonialism and capitalism (a bit like offering to remove a patient's skin cancer and testicles in the same operation!). Now, beyond the obvious, fifth-grade racism (an eight-grader would already laugh at argument some apologists will doubtless make in the comments section that 'racism is privilege plus bigotry), one cannot help but remember the words of Jesus Christ: "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.", and, of course, Zorander put it simply: “Mind what people do, not only what they say, for deeds will betray a lie.”

So, what is the liberation which the Pan Asianists offer? Now, it is true none of them explicitly said that they seek to impose everywhere a regime identical to their own. However, by looking at their regime we can learn a lot about their values. When a nation falls under the influence of a foreign nation, even if they are not 'colonized' or 'subdued' they can usually expect some of the policies from that other nation to come about. Which ones? You cannot know! It's like a lottery!

And what are the prizes in the PAS lottery? They are some interesting prizes. You see, once you've signed up to the Pan Asiatic cult, you may discover that these individuals are anti-colonialist in the sense in which chaining your child down in the basement until they're twenty and steering potential girlfriends away from them protects them from being molested. Their definition of "colonialism" includes all trade with white people, and their solution is 'autarky' (that's to say, poverty) and trade restriction, and their version of "socialism" includes the confiscation of all private transit, and its replacement with state-operated mass transit (in other words, if the state decides to 'encourage' population growth your town you'll get good travel options, if they decide to prioritize some other guy's town, hey, you're shit out of luck).

But all of this is beyond the real point. In its desire to liberate Asian women from outdated traditional arranged marriages, and outdated, traditional, capitalist voluntary marriages, the PAS had gone much further than Stalin, Mao – they had nationalized that ultimate means of production – the womb itself.

Under the PAS (or should I say, POS?) government system, individuals do not have a 'right' to breed, but rather all breeding is conditional on the right political views. If you are an Allanean or Shroomer woman reading these words, it's likely that the Pan-Asiatics would prohibit you from breeding and if you had a baby, the baby would be stolen and given to a family of Communist clones. The Communist Clones, here, are not something that would happen in a silly movie (Invasion of the Commie Clones – I should copyright the title!), but a literal state system of producing communist clones, not in the sense that they're indoctrinated in government schools, but in the sense they're literally cloned in vats, using a technology developed by the infamous slaver Igarashii Corporation. It's important to say here that I am not joking – we are dealing with a civilization of literal totalitarian communist clones, which of course is something you'd think would appear in war propaganda.

Unfortunately, that is where the good news end.

The Free Kingdom of Allanea, and their coalition partners, cannot defeat the Commie Clones simply by organizing special forces teams, killing lots of terrorists, and so forth. The result would be, at best, a hyperviolent conflict versus the Pan-Asiatic States, which would result in doubtlessly millions of deaths.

The main obstacle to our victory, frankly speaking, is the foolishness of many colonialist powers. Historically, many colonialist powers left themselves open to subterfuge and violence – subterfuge and violence that not only ended up defeating the colonialists, but often leaving the colonized far worse off – because they've failed to meaningfully address the needs and concerns of the colonized. Sometimes this was because they literally were the cartoon villains of Maoist propaganda, and sometimes it was through sheer incompetence.

As such, to defeat the spread of PAS-inspired terrorism, the Free Kingdom and its coalition partners must engage in a series of measures:

1. We must provide financial support, opportunities, etc. for those states that require it in dealing with the Commie Clone invasion, including, if necessary, working with the Senate to provide bills that would unilaterally open our markets to imports from those countries.

2. We must work with private organizations (through the Global Kindness Offensive department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to improve opportunities and provide economic aid to Asian immigrants in those countries most at risk from the Commie Clones.

3. We must realize that precedent shows that ethnic Asian groups are at substantial risk of attack by the Pan Asiatics, should they refuse to pull in with their objective. As such we work with coalition members to provide training and support to those Asian communities wishing to defend against the terrorists. This is a strategically beneficial tactic both in terms of hopefully killing many Commie Clones, and also in terms of creating an opportunity for terrorists' victims to take a hand in their own defense, and to climb the social ladder by killing Communists.

4. Of course, none of this discounts the role of the Ministry of War in fighting the authoritarian Commie Clones.

I repeat that we invite all countries struggling with the threat of PAS terrorism, or those interested in opposing it on other grounds, to work with us on solutions.

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. We’re continuing to follow a story developing on the island of Insulinida, where a communist terror group has claimed responsibility for a car bomb attack against a police station in the provincial capital city of Queenstown. The ABC has obtained a copy of the taped statement which was sent to a local newspaper office in Queenstown. It comes from a group calling itself ‘the Red Band.’ A warning to our viewers, this video contains imagery and language which may not be suitable for children.”

"We are the Red Band. We represent the future which will sweep over Insulindia, as it has swept over the liberated peoples of the Pan-Asiatic States and many other lands. We represent the end of Avon’s greedy tyranny. We proudly claim responsibility for the destruction of the Royal Insulindia Constabulary station in Queenstown.”

“We do not mourn for those killed in the attack. The Royal Insulindia Constabulary is an organization whose ranks are comprised of mercenaries and traitors. They oppress their brothers and sisters on behalf of foreign slave-masters. We will spill the blood of any Insulinidian who stands with the oppressors.”

Image

“The Red Band Army grows every day. All who wish a free and equal Insulindia, join us! We will destroy the Avonian colonialists, and their lapdog lackeys, and build the socialist paradise on their bones. You either stand with us, or with the enemy. The choice is clear, and it must be made. Forward the Revolution!”

Queenstown

“Really, I think the honorable Minister is overreacting.”

William Darby, Lord Banten, reclined back in his chair as he spoke. The plush seat cushioned his bulky frame, which still sweat uncomfortably even with the aircon working at full blast to keep the room cooler than the humid heat outside. It was a sunny day today, without a cloud in the sky over Queenstown. If Darby had traveled outside the Governor-General’s residence he would have seen poorer citizens suffering mightily in the heat. Many homes in the slums lacked any sort of effective climate control, and hot days like today turned ramshackle homes into ovens for the family, or families, living in them. They spilled out onto the streets, searching for shade or a breeze off the water or anything to relieve the pressure of the sun’s unceasing assault from above. Of course, the Governor-General of Insulindia would never willingly travel into the slums of Queenstown, and the man who occupied that office spared not a single thought for the people who lacked such a choice. Instead, he was thinking about the latest messages from the Home Island.

“Another two battalions hardly seems like a necessary escalation,” he elaborated. “And where the devil are we supposed to put all these Paras and Marines? They’ll be sleeping four to a bed!”

The other men in the room chuckled, either out of politeness to the man who ruled Avon’s colony here or in genuine amusement at the idea. These were Darby’s council, a collection of powerful or influential men – and they were all men – who helped to keep the island running smoothly. They included representatives from the Avon Royal Trading Company and other major corporate interests, the highest-ranking military officers on the island, and a few Insulindian elites whose loyalties were well-established. They had all gathered at the Governor-General’s residence, which still occupied the shell of the late medieval castle built by the Royal Trading Company overlooking the port city below. While the exterior retained an aesthetic of antiquity, the inside had been fully renovated to bring it into the twenty-first century. Hence the aircon units working to chill the air in the room to a more suitable temperature and remove the humidity which was plaguing the less fortunate.

“A show of force might scare the rats back into their holes,” suggested the Royal Trading Company representative. “Remind the coolies of their place.”

“The unrest is among the Asian foreigners,” another man said. “Not among all the people.”

The Royal Trading Company man looked offended at being interrupted by an Insulindian, but a look from the Governor-General stifled any voicing of that complaint. The Mayor of Queenstown, an Insulindian man from a family with a long history of civil service in the colonial administration, either did not notice or ignored the glare while he continued to speak.

“The Red Band says it will kill native sons and daughters of Insulindia to achieve its revolution,” the Mayor added. “The Chief of the Constabulary has reported an increase in applications to join since the attack. We stand loyal to the King. The response to this attack must be focused on the foreign elements which launched it.”

“A fine speech,” the Royal Trading Company representative shot back. “But the Constabulary has already failed, rather spectacularly, to preserve peace and law and order on the island.”

“Now now, I think you are being quite harsh,” Darby spoke up from the head of the table. “These soldiers appear to be on their way whether we want them or not. So we will make arrangements for their basing.” The Governor-General looked to the military men, who had remained silent so far throughout this meeting. The commander of the garrison, which was centered on a force of Royal Marines and the locally raised Royal Insulindian Native Rifle Regiment, nodded. Darby smiled.

“And once they arrive, we will discuss how best they are to be used. In the meantime, we will of course step up our counter-terrorist measures and work to suppress any recruiting efforts by this Red Band. Gentlemen, that will be all for the day.”

Out walked the revolutionary brother leader with 10 body guards, President LeFrancois was a seasoned revolutionary that had fought on battlefields allover the world before overthrowing the French government and installing himself as leader.

LeFrancois smoking a cigerette

President LaFrancois and his cohorts sat in the Hotel room talking amongst themselves, LeFrancois spoke "This is bloody based! visiting our comrade here in this glorious nation. I am sure we can learn a lot from the Secretary General here on post-revolutionary ruler-ship." LaFrancois lit a ciggerette. "Today we establish ourselves in the realm of solidarity with like-minded nations." he said smiling.

The Presidential Palace

Lucky Wells sat in his quite comfortable chair in what was once the royal palace reading a fantasy book he had recently picked up. Wells had always found it weird that the founders of modern Atkemri had chosen to keep the quite opulent mansion in-tact for the president. It seemed opposite to what a revolutionary movement would be for, instead of removing the old they kept it and in fact embraced it. Despite that, he could see the value in the architecture and that it was a historical and cultural landmark. That was neither here nor there however and frankly, Wells was not bothered much by it.

His real concern lied in the upcoming elections and his chances of re-election. Though he was fairly popular he knew he had upset many people on the inside and though he knew they couldn't do much to him, Wells very much knew that would fight tooth and nail to stop his re-election. His phone buzzed next to him interrupting his thoughts. He had been sent a text message from his Diplomatic Officer Paul Kitimbaya telling him to get to the capitol building immediately. It was odd how informal he was, but Wells couldn't question it for long.

The Capital Building, Holom

Wells had arrived via helicopter as he usually did and walked into the building and down a flight of stairs to see the most vital members his cabinet with Paul holding a report. "What would this be?" Wells asked hoping it wouldn't be anything too bad. His hopes were crushed when the Officer of Defence and bearer of bad news of Atkemri himself, Kimbu Mandela opened his mouth which Wells knew would be followed by something unpleasant like it usually was.

"It's the report you asked for on foreign influences on Africa. When you read it you'll see that the PAS is making widespread investments in Africa and it seems that their OBOR project would heighten it possibly removing us as the economic hegemon of the region. Obviously, this can not be allowed to happen. In non-report news, they seem to be supporting an ideology called Pan-Asianism."

Wells nodded, took in the information, and then began pointing towards members of his cabinet "Paul, make an official notice condemning their new ideology and Awa make a plan to discourage that trade project they have, I don't really care how you do it just come up with something quick." Wells began a strut back to the helipad knowing that it would be done and that he would have a very turbulent election season. Nevertheless, Wells took pleasure in the idea that despite the seemingly cynical reasons for this particular intervention he would soon be doing good for the people of Asia.

Official Atkemrian
Government Statement:
On 'Pan-Asianism'

The Atkemrian government has noticed a rise in the accursed ideology known as Pan-Asianism throughout large portions of Asia predominantly spread by the Pan Asiatic States. Let it be known that the Atkemrian state fully and totally denounces this ideology and finds it's racism and communistic practices abhorrent and unfit for civilized society. Furthermore, we shall adopt Allanea's current solutions for combating this menace and will consider working with them to further stomp on this disgusting stain of ideology and properly and completely trouncing upon and on it. We ask all our international allies to assist in defeating the threat of Pan-Asianism. Furthermore, we denounce the PAS not only for creating the ideology but for their unethical eugenics program and hypocrisy regarding imperialism while being imperialist themselves as their new 'Pan-Asian states' would quickly become satellites and puppets not much unlike the former Soviet Union's evil empire.

August 14th, 2019
Metropolitan Neo-Manila

A quiet, golden sunrise smiles once more upon the Pearl of the Orient. Gargantuan skyscrapers, where atop red and black banners are unfurled from, glisten into the dawn as the entire capital awakens. Smoke begins to pour out of the chimneys of assembly plants, whilst office-workers begin to pour into their workplaces. The repulsion of the train-engine startles the birds which flutter freely, the noise of the behemoth causes the stray dogs to frolic.

Manufactories alight, revealing columns upon columns of industrial machinery tucked-away in bloated windowless factories where there are no other human laborers excluding the plant's controller. Soviet councils governing different aspects of each individual's life, such as residency and economic hierarchy, begin to assemble in government nerve-centers scattered across the Communist nation.

The Oriental Standard is thrusted high up into the cloudy azure. Thousands of workers begin their day by saluting their banner's mystic black, with its magnanimous white, its plentiful yellow and rebellious red—together, unflinchingly united. Routinely, every man, from the lowliest custodian to the Secretary-General, sings the national anthem with pride and solemnity.

The French delegation, and anyone else present in the Pan-Asiatic States, would observe all of this, every single morning—how each Asian committed themselves to the perfection of whatever profession they would so choose in service of the State, their God (whichever that God may be), and their countrymen. Street-sweepers who practiced the Orientalist mindset dedicated every stroke of the broom to the preservation of the Fatherland. Journalists who practiced the Orientalist mindset were vigorous in interrogating government officials and seeking the truth. District Soviets who practiced the Orientalist mindset committed themselves to perfecting urban planning with their utmost capability.

In every person living and working in the Pan-Asiatic States were two virtues: the common flame of selfless practice, an uncaring attitude for one's own wellbeing in service of other people, and the counsel to know when one's neighbours or one's self were no longer in service to other the people. The first drove workers to perform to their best ability, men competing against one another to meet quotas ascribed by the state, the second drove them to question the fairness of everything.

Scarcity would always befall the state, but when it did, no man was left more or less provided than others. Corruption and injustice would always be rife in all places, but it took the intuition of an Asian to know when one was being cheated by one's leaders. News on the Pan-Asiatic States, more or less, always revolved around those two aspects of Pan-Asiatic life. Either roads and houses were being built, or an Elected Economic Manager (EEM) was being jailed.

COME my tan-faced children,
Follow well in order, get your weapons ready,
Have you your pistols? have you your sharp-edged axes?
Pioneers! O pioneers!

For we cannot tarry here,
We must march my darlings, we must bear the brunt of danger,
We the youthful sinewy races, all the rest on us depend,
Pioneers! O pioneers!

The Coast of the Delmontese Enclave of Paigino Norde

Luca Grimaldi leaned against the railing of the Signalia and gazed at the newly acquired slice of Delmonte here in the Asian Tiger's lap. This island was still an untamed place, a harsh and warlike mistress who would need to be pioneered, tilled, and civilized. Jungles tamed, rivers stemmed, clay and silt furrowed. But the yacht he was on was resplendent with all the worldliness with which they would contaminate this pristine world. Delmontese businessmen and statesmen spoke with their back teeth clenched over the sound of stringed instruments dissipating over these alien waters.

"Yes, well, you see."

Says one.

"Of course, of course. And what would you need from me for that to happen?"

Says another.

"Well, every force is met with an equal and opposite counter-force." says the other, blithely misquoting science in an attempt to solicit a bribe. And then they would each say they saw a few more times and that would be that and some shipping charter for the new enclave had just been swapped for two vineyards and a goldmine in Delmonte. Luca adjusted his blue sash and looked at the dregs of champagne still swirling at the bottom of his flute. He moved it slowly back and forth over the side of the ship, timing the swirling of the alcohol with the waves lapping against the ship. He could drop it. Straight into the ocean.

The mere thought made his heart flutter. It would hit the waves and sink down, down, past the fish, sinking lower still until it found some solace at the bottom of a trench somewhere. Somewhere that couldn't be conquered and would never see a drop of champagne in its lifetime. He could drop the glass right now and that would be the end of it: The glass would stay where he dropped it long after he died and probably after humanity died as well. He could easily say it was an accident if anyone even saw it happen in the first place.

Luca laughed in the way that only a slightly intoxicated man can laugh at himself. He placed the ornate glass gently on a standing tray nearby. He had worked hard for this. The graying hair on his head attested to that. He caught a glance of them in a cabin window as he walked to retrieve another glass of champagne. Every doorway he passed by and deck he passed below offered another glimpse into the moral decay around him.

"I heard he gets to marry one of the Canossa girls in addition to all this."

"Yes, but I heard it has to be one of the ugly ones!"

"Hah! No matter, he'll obviously be able to take a mistress. Maybe even one of the native girls... Maybe two..."

He made it to the bar, but this was obviously the finest showcase of exactly the conversation he had been trying to avoid. Two human moustaches stole his attention.

"I won't feel safe this close to them."

"Of course."

"These things are multiplicative, you know. They're not just Asians and they're not just Communists, they're Asians and Communists. It's not Asian plus Communist, it's Asian times Communist."

"You know I still have that friend in the Admiralty? I could put in a word with him, see if they'll send a patrol here every once in a while."

"Such a good friend, you are."

Luca groaned. "Make it a double." he told the bartender. They still had the auction. This was going to be a long night for him.
