Rinzi Zakhilwal was walking through the garage when he overheard Dinggu Wang's crew talking about the last few races. One of them commented that Zakhilwal had been a little all over the place. He had days when he was good, but he was still inconsistent on the track and a little kooky off the track. "What do you expect?" one of the others answered. "This is the Carpet Khan we're talking about."

It rankled hearing that. Sure, Zakhilwal still had the logo of his mother's carpet store on the side of his car -- but he'd worked hard to get his act together and race like a pro. He thought he'd come a long way. He hadn't had a single DNF since he swapped out his crappy old Hongxing for the AutoModi he was driving now, and he was ahead of Wang in the points -- but here they were talking about him like he was still a joke.

Wang and Zakhilwal were both still looking for their first win of the season, and they both would probably need it to secure a Chase berth, but Wang needed it worse. Zakhilwal was in the top 16, where it was possible to advance on points if there were enough repeat winners. Wang wasn't. But Wang had been hot lately and he seemed to think it was only a matter of time before he got the win he needed.

Zakhilwal got out of earshot of Wang's crew and bowed his head in prayer. "Allah, help me teach these men a lesson in humility."

He knew no one could ever be sure of God's plans until they were carried out, but he felt like God was going to back him up. It was hard to explain, but something just felt right. He was starting 19th, but the car was running beautifully and it didn't take long before he started moving up the field, following Clarissa Alanis Star as she was also moving up from a mediocre starting position and made a convenient drafting partner. He had to abandon that strategy when Clarissa ran into trouble, but it had been effective while it lasted and now he was 11th instead of 19th.

Kohan the 10th's crashes and breakdowns were becoming a regular feature of NSSCRA races. This time Zakhilwal was nowhere near Kohan when it he went out, but he took advantage of the way the caution bunched up the cars to catch up with come of the people who had been ahead of him. Now he was battling Kai Qiang for 4th place, and Qiang was kvetching at him on the radio, making sarcastic comments about Zakhilwal stealing his place. "Why do you want to be 4th?" Zakhilwal radioed back. "You get a bigger prize for winning, and the number 4 is bad luck."

"It's the only kind of luck I have," Qiang answered.

Qiang had to pit for tires and fuel, and now 4th place definitely belonged to Zakhilwal -- but he didn't want 4th place. You got a bigger prize for winning, and the number 4 was bad luck. He soon found himself side-by-side with Chet Byrd heading into a straightaway and he thanked Allah he wasn't still driving his old Hongxing. He was sure the Hongxing couldn't outrun a Preston, but the AutoModi he was driving now had a chance... The cars were close to evenly matched, but Zakhilwal managed to edge ahead of Byrd as they went into the next turn, and soon he was battling for the lead with Stiller and Alvarez. Qiang got back in the mix in the last couple of laps, and it looked like he and Stiller were getting nostalgic for their old rivalry from a couple seasons back. While Qiang and Stiller were getting in each other's way, Zakhilwal pulled away in front of them and claimed the checkered flag. Alvarez got stuck behind the old rivals and couldn't find a way to pass either of them without getting caught in the middle of their motorized dick-waving contest. When Alvarez finished 4th, Qiang didn't give her any crap about stealing his place.

While he was celebrating in victory lane, Zakhilwal thanked his pit crew, his sponsors, and -- most important of all -- God.

The prize money for street racing in the Sherpa Empire was comparable to lower-tier IRACT races, but you didn't have to spend as much money to put a winning car on the course. The races were meant to be driven without pit stops, and everyone was driving ordinary cars straight off the lot. You didn't have to worry about Kai Qiang or Liangmei Li blowing past you in a vehicle that was clearly built for professional racing.

Some of the major events of the IRACT season had larger prizes, but there were only a few of those events, and they were scattered all over the Chinese Territories. As a street racer, Yi Tan found himself racing more often, and he didn't have to travel as far to get from one race to the next. In the past week, he had run two different races among the small villages south of Guilin, and one highway race from Guilin to Nanning. The knowledge that he was breaking the law caused him a great deal of anxiety. He could feel the fear in the pit of his stomach every time he got behind the wheel. But it was exhilarating too, tearing across the Guangxi countryside.

Between races, Yi Tan lived like he was on a luxurious vacation, visiting Guilin's most beautiful scenic spots and sampling the local delicacies. Even though it was the home of IRACT, Guilin was still more famous for it's scenery than it was for motorsports. Chinese painters had been flocking there for centuries to draw inspiration from the dramatic cliffs, winding rivers, and idyllic farm scenes; and the caves in the outskirts of the city were filled with breath-taking rock formations, like delicately carved underground palaces. It was almost too beautiful to be real. In fact, many things about Yi Tan's new life as a street racer seemed too good to be true...

Rd 13 & Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge Overview

Toys '4' All 500, Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita :: Heading into the Toys '4' All 500 in Vilita all of the attention at Team Tropicorp seemed to be on how Cocoabo #28 would handle the return to the track that almost ended their stock car racing career before it every really got started. It was clear from the outset however that something about the Lonngeylin Ring and Cocoabo #28 just did not get along. There would be no Cinderella story for the Cocoabo and their run of three consecutive Top 10 finishes would ultimately come to an end. While Cocoabo #28 did struggle, however, it was a much different story for their teammates Cocoabo #78 in the #78 Cocoabo Park Dart and Anavella Ariiki in the #88 Tropicorp Dart.

For Ariiki, it was a career best performance by a long shot. Having had just one prior career Top 10 finish, Ariiki was learning from the best in the business on the short tracks and eventually came home with a fifth place finish for their first career Top 5 result. Ariiki, however, was not even the best performing Team Tropicorp driver in Lonngeylin as Cocoabo #78 was in the thick of the action all night long and ended up in 3rd place behind defending Race Winner Yraaga Gilli'i who once again put their mastery of the track on display and runner-up finisher #3 Skip Stiller. It would be the first time ever that Team Tropicorp put two cars inside the Top 5 at a single NSSCRA Event.

While the results on the track were outstanding for Team Tropicorp they also had plenty of exciting action off the track as well as the Tropicorp Racing Supply Pit Crew Challenge returned to the fan zone at the Lonngeylin Ring with an overhaul of stations and a new prize for those with the fastest times.

Tropicorp announced that they will host a Pit Crew Competition for select NSSCRA Teams to compete against each other during the Tropicorp 500 Race Weekend for the title of Best Pit Crew in the multiverse. In addition to the top teams in the multiverse from the NSSCRA Circuit, however, there will be at least one additional entry to the competition and that will be of Part-Time Team Tropicorp engineer and simulator developer Euroli Islander who will take charge of the #42 Tropiorp Racing Supply Tires Dart for the Tropicorp 500 and will be entered into the Pit Crew Competition with a pit crew composed entirely of fans who put in the best times at Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge events leading up to the Tropicorp 500 race weekend.

Image
Individual Skill Stations:

The tire changing station consists of a full nose clip of an NSSCRA Stock Car and participants will start from the drivers side of the 'vehicle', run across to the right side and complete the removal and replacement of lug nuts. Then, they will have to return to the left side of the 'vehicle' and do the same for the other tire and finish their run by pushing the large button on the ground next to this tire. This station will be timed.

The fueling station will consist of the rear clip of an NSSCRA Stock Car and participants will be responsible for transferring a full load of fuel using two pre-loaded cans. Participants will start with one fuel can in hand and will be timed through setting the second can down. If the fuel cans are not empty the competitor will receive a time penalty adjusted for the percentage of 'fuel' delivered.

The Jacking station consists of a full size Team Tropicorp NSSCRA Stock Car Replica. Participants must jack each side of the car high enough to lift both tires off the ground. Pressure plates below each tire will have an indicator to determine when the Tires are fully off the ground. At that point the Participant would go to the other side and Jack once more. Once the Tires are lifted, the Jack is released and the pressure plates will sense the car stopping the clock.

At the Repairs and Adjustment Kiosk, fans will learn how to make Adjustments on the fly including adding or removing tape from the nose of a car, removing windshield tear offs, adding spring rubbers and ensuring that none of the vehicle bodywork is rubbing onto a tire.

At the inspection Kiosk, fans will be given the chance to review up to 10 Pitstops and identify any infractions or errors including Loose Lugnuts, pitting outside the box, crew members entering the box too soon, a summary of repairs or adjustments and number of crew members over the wall. Participants can receive a score based on the number of correct assessments.

Fans should be able to enter the Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge at the NSSCRA events in Vilita, Xanneria, Hampton Island and Tropicorp and be eligible for the Grand Prize at the Tropicorp 500. The Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge will continue at a limited selection of tracks after the Tropicorp 500 Race Weekend. As a part of the Fan Zone there is no fee for competition however all participants will be required to sign a waiver indemnifying Tropicorp should anything happen during participation in the Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge.

The participants with the top times at each Pit Crew station during the Vilitan, Xannerian and Hampton Island events will receive all expenses paid transportation and lodging to Tropicoast for the Tropicorp 500. The participants with the fastest overall times at each station including those completing the Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge in Tropicoast will comprise the pit crew for the #42 Tropicorp Racing Supply entry into the NSSCRA Tropicorp Pit Crew Competition to be held prior to the Tropicorp 500. Additional participants who are not the fastest overall in their discipline may be selected for secondary responsibilities on the #42 Pit Stop team such as that of the Tire Carrier. The fan with the highest scores at the Inspection Kiosk may be chosen as honorary Crew Chief.

As pit road itself will be busy with race action, the NSSCRA Tropicorp Pit Crew Competition will take place in front of the old Tropicorp Headquarters building where a special one-stall pit lane will be set up just for the competition. Times will be counted when the vehicle breaks the plane of the pit box and time will stop when the car completely exits the pit box. Penalties will be assessed for Improperly Tightened Lugnuts, Insufficient Fueling and other infractions which will translate to an increase in the time assessed. The team fastest overall time after assessments will be declared the winner of the competition.

The Valentians - Qualifications - Toys '4' All 500, Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Oooh, Toys ‘4’ All! I would love to get some stuff from them, haha!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Clarissa, you know a 50-foot tall bunny plush is not going to fit into the plane properly. I mean, we will need to press it down, heck, maybe even vacuum pack it, or something!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Ha ha, I am not thinking of those for the time being! I am just thinking of buying the die-cast cars! Something to remember this race for, you know?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I could go for one of those as well! They are pretty collectable! Just that I wish they have our versions as well.

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: We just came into the world of motorsport racing, so… I guess toys of us are gonna take some time! [She then looks at Clarissa] Clarissa, how are you feeling, my friend?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Pretty good! I feel so much lighter and better after a restart! I am gonna do well for this course, haha!

The qualifications were rather eventful this time. Jolyn and Clarissa placed 7th and 14th respectively, while Gwen placed 32nd. The track was extremely tight and due to the nature of qualifications, the track itself was not too crowded. For the actual day, the Valentians were worried about the rather hazardous conditions, and Gwen knows it. Clarissa knows it. Jolyn knows it.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I know the qualifications don’t speak all, but… this is worrying me, guys. What if I failed this one? This is too difficult!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Mhm, I know what you mean! The track is very, very tight, and I have a lot of difficulty navigating around even with the lack of traffic.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: We got to try our best. We have been flopping more or less for the past few races. I mean, we are still rookies, but the feeling of victory is still the very best thing that I have felt for a while, you know?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yep! So… here’s to us giving our all?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Yes! Let’s do this, haha!

The Valentians - Actual Race - Toys '4' All 500, Lonngeylin Ring, Lonngeylin, Vilita

The Valentian trio wished each other good luck, shook hands with Jared and Jenny, and they got into their car, somewhat ready to tackle this rather challenging course. With 16-17 seconds per lap, it would be rather quick, but it was not going to be easy. The presence of all the vehicles on the track were going to make this difficult, and the Valentians know it.

“And they are away!” the announcer blared out on the PA system across the track.

Image

It was unlike many other races, and it shows. None of the Valentians were doing as well as they would expect, and for the first time, one of the Valentians would found themselves in a disaster that they could not get out of.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Slowly… slowly!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Haha, don’t worry, guys! I will be able to handle this well-

Just as she was about to finish her sentence, she realised that she was driving a little too fast and was unable to break in time for the second turn before the start/finish line. She bumped a few other vehicles in the process and hit a wall pretty hard. She was timed for a few more seconds, but was later disqualified on the conditions of her vehicle being unable to drive. DNF - Did Not Finish, as they called it, got to Gwen, as with the few other drivers that joined Gwen in the later laps, perhaps.

Her vehicle was pulled slowly out of the race track and back to the Valentian crew so that they could work on the car while she was still out of the race. Gwen took off her helmet and hung her head in shame, unbelievable that she would be out in just the very, very first segment of the race.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Well, that just happened.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ah hmm… No offense, Gwen, but you were a bit too cocky. You could have pulled it off, but unfortunately, you didn’t manage to do it pretty well, I feel. You were a bit too overconfident.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: [She let out a long sigh] Yeah, I know… Goodness, this is so embarrassing, guys. I know I tend to be overconfident, but now I am really out! Good luck next race to myself, I suppose.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: I am terribly sorry to hear that, Gwen! I hope you can do better for the next one!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, there are always next ones, isn’t it? Definitely not the end, you know? Good luck, guys!

After that, Gwen went towards the Valentian crew and got herself patched up by Germaine, the medic on-sight.

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: You should be doing pretty well, my friend! I mean, you just suffered some scratches, and I just healed those! No internal injuries, so that is good!

The first segment was finished with Clarissa at 30th, Jolyn at 15th, and Gwen at DNF.

The second segment would see some improvements from both Clarissa and Jolyn. The overtaking was proving itself to be a very difficult nuisance to deal with, and they have been trying their best not to hit anything along the way, not especially other drivers. With a very, very closed track like this, it would spell disaster if they mess up with the flow of the race in any way, shape, or form. Even going to the pits might prove a bit difficult, though given the nature of the course, it would seem like they would only need a top of gas for the most parts instead of the tire changes. Clarissa is noting that the tires are not getting a lot of wear and tear, and would be fine for the next few segments.

By the end of the second segment, Clarissa finished 17th, and Jolyn finished 6th.

The third segment was where the Valentians have some trouble yet again. They did not seem to hit anyone, but with a pit stop that involved topping up gas, and even a change of tire just to be very certain, both Clarissa and Jolyn would find it difficult to get out of the pit. They eventually did, thought they fell behind by a few positions, and they were finding it difficult to just manoeuvre around in general.

By the end of the third segment, Clarissa finished 30th, and Jolyn finished 19th.

The fourth segment would be the part where Clarissa has more or less charted her paths. She realised that the outside would be the most effective way around, though it would give her considerably more distance to cover. Doing some calculations in her head, she charted and followed the outside route while trying to be as efficient as she possibly can. This has proven to be extremely effective as she would be seen zipping throughout the course and bypassing many, many drivers.

This slingshot her to 2nd, while Jolyn would fell back to 30th simply as a result of the difficult nature of the track, and the Valentians not being seasoned enough with the track.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Haha, ooh, now this is pretty efficient! Okay, I mean, I have to drive longer, but… it’s working!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Pretty sure that the rest of the drivers are going to take wind of that!

And in the fifth segment, they did! Some of the drivers would be seen banking slowly to the right and taking the outside route. Many tried, some stick with it, while others would go back to the inside route. Due to the added stress of other drivers now on the outside route, Clarissa once again had some difficulty and had to resort to calculating more efficient routes in a whim. She found out that the middle route is the best possible option for the time being, and she would have to stick with that. As a result, she slowed down a little, went for a quick pit stop to get a top of fuel, and continued on. Jolyn followed suit after hearing the advice from Clarissa, followed by a pit stop of her own.

The end of the fifth segment would see Clarissa and Jolyn at 16th and 32nd respectively.

And then in the end… it was all right, for the most parts for Clarissa and Jolyn, anyway. They managed to finish off at 16th and 20th, with Clarissa having little to no way of improving her lap times and overtaking, while Jolyn managed to overtake 12 cars in front of her in a rather swift fashion before ending up being crowded and clustered with Clarissa and the 17th to 19th cars.

After the race was over, Clarissa and Jolyn headed back to the garages and talked to Gwen.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: So, what have you been doing, Gwen?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Ahh, nothing much! Just helping Jared out with whatever is needed to fix the car. Thankfully, I wasn’t injured!

Germaine Athena Angelina Mercy Sylvi: Well, you got hurt just a little bit, but you are fine otherwise! Just minor scratches and all.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Ahh, right! Still, it turned out rather well… I mean, maybe minus the DNF, but hey, all things considered, could be worse!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: [She gave Gwen a meaningful hug… again] I am just so glad that you were not hurt at all, haha! I was so worried!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Well, you are quite a hugger, Clarissa! But thanks! I really appreciate it.

Just then, Jolyn waved an envelope in front of the rest of the Valentians. It was a bit glittery, the seal gold in nature.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Guys, check this out! Ooh, it’s from the officials!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Looks pretty fancy! What is it?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Vilaye Energy Drink Clash! It’s something like an extra race for those veterans, and also those that have won!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: And you won your very first race back in Warlock 400!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yes!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Well, lucky you! All the best, Jolyn! Hey, I might not be racing there, but I wish you luck!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Yeah, all the best, Jolyn! I have the utmost faith in you tooooo! ♪

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Aww, thanks, guys! Yeah, here’s to hoping!

Gordon Orton had a miserable Friday. Qualifying took a group format approach and whether it helped or not was mute. Orton had soft brakes on his car, another faulty part making his day harder. He ran off track on his first lap of the session and by time he came around the top of the track his brakes had yet to work properly. He slid off track and into he tire wall at the double apex turns of 6 and 7 (Track map seen here: https://www.racingcircuits.info/assets/ ... fad525.png) When getting out of his car Orton saw the trailers he had known to be parked at the back of the track. He overheard a conversation between a group of guys who were unloading what seemed to be bags of white stuff out of them. "I can't believe they have doing this during the race weekend, certainly this won't end well!" said one of the anonymous participants in the deal. At first Orton had thought they were Marshall helping out concession folks by transporting flour or some other food product. The bags did look like those used for flour in baking. But then he heard someone shout for him. It was a marshall and suddenly Orton became more confused who were those people?

Well in the future he would find out who they were. Track owner Brad and Dill Whitmire would be arrested days after the race. They had been running one of the largest cocaine importing operations in Xanneria. The bags turned out to be filled with pounds upon pounds of the white stuff and the borther would be sent away for a long time. In the end Ed Walters Sr father of NSSCRA driver Eddie Walters would purchase the track and racing activities would continue on uninterupted, even a possible continuation of the NSSCRA event. But boy those guys must been right. It was a bad idea to be unloading that weekend. Several feds were undercover at the track.

Trans-Hapilopper Highway 20, heading north between Hapilopper City and Buckridge
A day after returning from Xanneria, 18 hours into the Anderson Run
The sun had long since set. Frank Bronson was at the wheel of the Preston Super Skychief, taking advantage of no speed limits on the Trans-Hapilopper Highway. The roads were pretty much vacant as most sane people had gone home for the day. Sure, there were a few semi trucks along the way, but they wisely stayed in the right lane as Frank blasted past. He casually glanced at the speedometer. 180. 190. 200. 210. 220. Before long, the speedometer read “227 MPH” before he had to let off the gas for a corner.
Sitting next to him, serving as the navigator for the trip, was Drake Stevenson, the team’s consultant. He was as calm as ever, looking at an electronic map and a clock on the dashboard, while slowly sipping on a bottle of iced tea. He liked what he saw. Frank, having driven for the last hour and a half, had made some great time, and at this point, halfway between the Buckridge checkpoint, Team Blue was 45 minutes ahead of the record pace.

“Just keep doing what you’re doing, Frank,” Drake said calmly to the driver. “We’re doing good. Real good.”

In the back seat, Chet Byrd and Chris Holmes were passed out, sleeping about as hard as one could sleep. It actually seemed like Chet and Chris were snuggled up with each other, which, to Drake, was actually rather hilarious.

“Frank, look in the rear-view,” Drake said with a smile. “Chris looks like he’s cuddling with Chet.”

Frank couldn’t look back. He was trying to control this car, which at this point, was going about 190 on the highway. Drake, however, grabbed his cell phone and took a picture of the two, about as relaxed as could be, as comfortable as could be, and sent it to Hannah Byrd, Chet’s daughter, and someone Chris had really wanted to be with romantically.

The two were about to be rudely awoken, but at that point, the two looked remarkably comfortable next to each other. The end of Frank’s stint, as well as this current fuel run, was nearing, before the car had to pull over to fill up, as well as an opportunity for the Team Blue drivers to pull into the nearest convenience store to pick up some provisions – a cold beverage or two, some coffee, and maybe even a ready-made egg and cheese biscuit.

When they pulled into Mohr’s Travel Station, about 180 miles south of Buckridge, Frank went over to fill the car up with some 96-octane fuel, premium, as required by Preston Autos. The good news was that Preston, having requested Team Blue make an attempt at the Anderson Run, was on a remarkably quick pace. The bad news, however, was that fast pace was playing havoc on the car’s fuel mileage, and were making more stops than the previous record run. While Frank was manning the pumps, the other three drivers were making their way into the store to pick up some things.

It was Drake Stevenson’s turn to drive for the next stint. As he was pouring himself a cup of coffee, he lazily looked at his phone to see the latest headlines. The two opposition parties to the Hapiloppian government were alleging that President William Mathis’s administration had badly bungled a budget bill, just two months before the government’s fiscal year was set to end. A second NLH baseball team was set to start play in the city of Surrey, as a direct response to the Surrey Wolves’ hugely unpopular move to BankTrust Park in the suburbs of that city. A city councilman in a suburb of Peoria was censured for his overt sexual overtures to the city manager. And “Fat Chuck” Tennyson, owner of Fat Chuck’s Tasty Fried Chicken, Chet Byrd’s sponsor, had just been arrested for tax evasion and sanitary offenses.

“CHET!” Drake shouted at his old teammate. “Get over here.”

Chet, still trying to clear out the cobwebs, had just bought two packs of cigarettes and a soda. He would be taking his turn in the passenger seat, as his next stint would come after Drake’s.

“Call Ken. Now. Fat Chuck got arrested for tax evasion,” Drake said.

“Oh, shit, really?” Chet responded. It meant that, in all probabilities, he would be out of a sponsor. On the other hand, Fat Chuck was actually kind of a jackass.

Drake read the story that indicated that Tennyson had blatantly fudged some numbers to allow him to underpay his taxes by around $1.5 million. It also indicated that, as part of the chicken pieces sent to Fat Chuck’s restaurants across the country, a variety of unusual materials, including trace amounts of arsenic and rhodium, were included in the chicken meat. When a Fat Chuck’s official was asked by a Department of Health representative about it, he told the DOH that those materials were included in the chicken on purpose.

“Fat Chuck himself ordered it,” the official was quoted to have said. “He told us the trace amounts of arsenic is what makes the chicken so tasty, and the rhodium is what makes it so addictive.”

Chet looked more and more downcast as Drake read him the story.

“I’m out of a sponsor, am I?” Chet asked.

“Sure sounds like it,” Drake responded. “I bet you’ll be asked about Arsenic Fried Chicken when we get to Hampton Island.”

“Shut up.”

As the group went on its way, Drake stretched the Super Skychief’s legs out even more. There were still thousands of miles to go, but the Team Blue four were well on their way to completing the Anderson Run. The four would eventually break the record by 50 minutes, gaining considerable press for the Preston Automobile Company in the process. But was about the only positive coming into the weekend.

When the four arrived in Hampton Island several days later, Chet Byrd’s car looked different. The Fat Chuck’s decals had been peeled from his car, and the colorful red, gold and green had been replaced with a blue, gold and black paint scheme. Team Blue had indicated that, due to the bad press brought about by Fat Chuck’s arsenic and rhodium-laced fried chicken, Team Blue couldn’t keep the logos on the car.

It didn’t stop Chet from taking some jokes about the arsenic-laced fried chicken.

Lexi was disappointed in herself. For a while, she had found her groove, but now, she was back to where she'd been at the start of the season, and that had to change. Fast. It wasn't that Sis Nah was breathing down her neck. Their consensus was that she just needed experience. The decision to renew her contract had already been made. She had shown that she had the potential. That, however, wasn't good enough for Lexi. She needed to win. She needed to earn her place. She needed to feel like the chance she had been given was used well and given rightly. After the Villaye Clash, she threw herself back into practice and sims. She would do better.

Eva, meanwhile, was no less determined to redeem herself, nor was she going to be caught slacking on her practice and self-reflection. She wasn't going to feel sorry for herself or her slump. She was going to fix it. No matter how little sleep that meant. Sofia, meanwhile, was still trying to get a deal with Highland Tires.

The Valentians - Vilaye Energy Drink Clash, Yutzie River Raceway, Vilisorma, Vilita

The rest of the Valentians bought the tickets to see Jolyn in action – in a race that would pit her against the seasoned veterans, as well as with the victors such as herself and the others. Clarissa and Gwen would buy two seats each to accommodate for their heights, and they sat in the seats that ensure that they would not be blocking anyone’s line-of-sight. Jared and the others, on the other hand, were down at the track itself, helping out Jolyn with the necessities, just like they did with the previous races.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: To be honest, I’m a little nervous about this one, haha!

Jared Kev Jensen Benedict Angus: Don’t worry about it! You will do just fine with the Valentians around!

Jolyn then looked to the right, where she could see Clarissa in the distance, in thanks to her impeccable vision, as well as the fact that Clarissa and Gwen are jutting out in a crowd. She placed 16th out of 17 from the qualifications, so she had quite a lot of effort to put in if she wanted to get to the front. She was in Open Heats #2 with the 8 drivers.

However, perhaps it was not meant to be.

Image

In a rather unfortunate set of events, while she was doing a few turns, Jolyn was blocked and bumped into a #16 that was sliding in front of her. That in turn caused her to lose considerable speed, as well as a few precious seconds. After recovering from it, she tried her best, slamming down on the accelerator in order to get back all the time that she has lost. She eventually placed 5th in the Open Heat #2 Results, still unsure about how she exactly did. Given that this was the very first time for the Valentians to participate in a heat or a clash, or whatever this was called, they expected this to happen, and Jolyn would be the one to quickly eat crow if it were to happen to her.

Vilaye Energy Drink Clash :: Starting Lineup… that was the board that she saw for a good 20 times. Her name, her number, were not there. This was a double-edge for Jolyn, she felt… on one hand, she was bummed out that she was unable to race for Clash, or at least this one. On the bright side, she could focus on the normal race schedule without putting too much pressure on herself. Though, she was not exactly sure…

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Hi, Jolyn! Aww, why the long face? You did great though!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ugggh, it kinda sucked, Clarissa. I could have done better, but #16 was in front of me!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, that was awful, I’m sorry to see that. I guess these kind of things just happen, hm?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yeah, can’t complain too much, I suppose. I mean, there could be worse, and on the bright side, I can focus on other races.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Is this the only race, Jolyn?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I’m not sure… I am gonna have to ask!

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: Next stop, Xanneria! That’s where your little problems come back, guys!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Oh my goodness… don’t tell me…

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: Road Course!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Nooooo!
Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: NOOOO!
Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: NOOOO!

Kai Qiang wasn't surprised when he heard that the Whitmire brothers had been arrested for drug smuggling. It wasn't Qiang's problem, but he had heard the rumors and he had noticed some suspicious-looking activity when he was racing in Xanneria. In Qiang's experience, where there were rumors of illegal activity like drug-running or prostitution, it was often difficult to suss out exactly what was going on and who was in on it, but there was usually something going on.

Meanwhile, the NSSCRA season had moved on to Hampton Island, and it looked like the Hampton Islanders had not lost their appetite for stupid publicity stunts. Last year, they'd created a media circus around Lexi Patterson, a model who they claimed was a go-kart racing champion, but nobody had been able to find any record of her racing history. This year, they were bringing a geriatric racing star named Freddie Nielson out of retirement. He had been retired since before Kai Qiang and Rinzi Zakhilwal were born. He had started his career even before Qiang's parents were born.

In a drivers' meeting before the race, Qiang and Zakhilwal whispered to each other in Chinese saying, "What is he doing here?"

"That doesn't seem safe, letting someone race at that age. People's reflexes get slower as they age, you know."

Nielson made it through qualifying without wrecking, but Qiang and Zakhilwal were still skeptical about the wisdom of putting him behind the wheel of an NSSCRA car.

Dinggu Wang was more concerned about his own sluggish lap time. Qiang and Zakhilwal were ranked in the top 16 for the season so far, and they each had a win. They could get probably get away with it if they had a bad day -- as long as they didn't make a habit of it. Wang was outside the top 16, still playing catch up for the races at the beginning of the season where he had failed to qualify in, and he had yet to win a race. He couldn't afford any bad results right now.

----֎--֎--֎----

Mendok Sherpa decided she wanted to try the Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge. Qiang expected her to make a fool of herself, but he still agreed to hold Kami while she gave it a try. At the tire changing station she dropped one of the tires and had to go running after it to stop it from rolling away. At the fueling station, she spilled one of the fuel cans. At the jacking station, she mistakenly started to switch sides before the first set of tires was actually jacked all the way off the ground, which meant she had to go back.

Qiang was having a good laugh, but he knew there were other things he needed to do before the race besides watching Mendok be a klutz. "Come on, I need to get back to the garage," he said.

"I just want to try the inspection kiosk," Mendok said.

Qiang rolled his eyes. "Why?" He saw no reason to think Mendok would do any better in the inspection kiosk than she had done at any of the stations.

It turned out that Mendok knew more than he realized about the technical details of NSSCRA. She had learned a lot in the time she worked with Tsering Chu and she had a keen eye for spotting infractions at the inspection kiosk. Qiang and the Tropicorp people -- who had just watched her fuck up everything she touched at the tire-changing, fueling, and jacking stations -- were absolutely floored. "How can you be so good at this and so bad at everything you actually touched with your own hands?" Qiang asked.

"Is that any way to talk to a lady?" she pouted jokingly. She didn't sound like she was actually upset, but Qiang did look genuinely uncomfortable when she grabbed him roughly by the scruff of his neck and dragged him away like a mother cat carrying her kitten.

Tenzing Rai was still tailing Qiang, both to protect him and to keep tabs on him. His niece, who he had brought along to help him blend in with the crowd better, talked him into trying the Pit Crew Challenge. He was the opposite of Mendok -- good at the hands on stuff, but bad at remembering which details mattered at the inspection kiosk.

----֎--֎--֎----

Highland Tire's attempts to sell tires to NSSCRA teams had gotten mixed results. They'd gotten Liuyong Xu back to using their tires, even though he was no longer racing for the Sherpa Empire -- and they had not gotten any of the bad press that Presto got when the Xannerian manufacturer attempted to set themselves up as a rival to Tropicorp -- but Highland was still a lesser-known brand in a market where Tropicorp dominated.

Xu had managed to qualify for two races in a row, but that probably had more to do with the changes in the charter system than what tires he was using.

Sofia Kerman's crew had inquired about Highland Tires a little while back, but there'd been a bit of a breakdown of communications due to the language barrier. In Hampton Island, Sofia's crew clarified that they were looking to actually switch to Highland and not just ask for information or get a few tires to experiment with. Once everyone was on the same page, the Highland Tire sales people were more than happy to oblige.

It was a step forward, but they were still small fry and Tropicorp was still the biggest fish in the pond.

Yi Tan was in a little town on the Sherpa Empire's southern border. He had raced there from Guilin, and he was waiting to collect his prize money. One of his handlers from Macau was arguing with Cheng Huang, a cousin of the late Jia Huang who shared her interest in street racing. Huang was saying, "This isn't racing; it's kidnapping," and threatening to talk to the police.

"What are you going to say if you go to the police?" said the man from Macau. "'Oh, hello, officer, I saw Tan Yi while I was driving in an illegal street race'? I'm sure they'll be very interested to know that you were street racing, and IRACT will be interested too."

Huang was defiant. "I think the cops will cut me some slack, considering the circumstances."

"The cops, yes," the man from Macau said in a chilling tone, with a threatening gleam in his eye. "You are probably right about that, but the cops are not the only ones you should be worried about."

"I can take care of myself," Huang said.

"What's going on?" Yi Tan asked. He was worried, both for himself and for Huang's safety, but he tried to tell himself he was just being paranoid and it would all turn out fine.

"It's nothing," the man from Macau said. "Let's get you your money."

The next day, Tan's handlers said they were taking him to Guangzhou for a few weeks. They didn't say it was because of the confrontation with Cheng Huang, but Tan suspected it was.

A Message To The Fans And Competitors At Stafford City Speedway,
(from the Track CEO)

Dear Competitors,

I want to welcome all of you to the beautiful Stafford City Speedway for today’s race. The weather should be perfect for the Golden Bear 400, with warm temperatures and enough cloud cover so you do not have to contend with the glare as you exit turn two. I am honored that the great Freddie Nielsen, a legend in Hampton Island, will be participating. Do not be fooled by his age, I promise he is ready to run. Our drivers will put on a show, and as we saw from Kevin Cosgrove in qualifying, their familiarity with this track makes us a contender to get a win.

I know some of you excel on short tracks, especially Stacie Houston, who won the race here last year, so I hope you will enjoy this race. We hope that you provide us a great race.

To the fans,

Thank you for coming. As some of you know we have a great promotion on the track, allowing you to drive an old James McCurty race car around the track, and if, in two laps, you can turn a lap time in exactly 22.236 seconds, the car numbers of our three drivers, you will win $250,000. It costs just $50 to attempt this.

Don’t forget to take part in our mega 50/50, where it’s really a 2/1. Whatever the pool is, we will double it, and award the winning ticket holder all of the monies. We will also pay all of your taxes associated with this winning.

Remember the race is called the Golden Bear 400 due to high concentration of bears in our country. They tend to stay away from the race track on race day due to the noise, and bears do not like loud noises. However, keep this is mind if you are traveling away from the track. You will be safe from the bears unless you are the aggressor towards one.

The CEO talks with this spokesperson,

Spokesperson: Read your memo, can’t believe you are willing to give out so much money.

CEO: We aren’t giving out any money.

Spokesperson: But the lap promotion? The mega 50/50?

CEO: You see that lady over there in the pink dress?

Spokesperson: Yes

CEO: That’s the girlfriend of my cousin.

Spokesperson: Okay

CEO: She is designated as the 50/50 winner. She knows we’re just using her name as the assigned winner. She has been practicing her surprised and happy look. We’re giving her 5% of the pool, but it’s just money going back to us. And no one will run a lap in exactly 22.236 seconds. If it does happen, we have a backup clock starting a half second later that we will show as the participants time.

Spokesperson: So the track just pockets all the money?

CEO: Of course.

Spokesperson: Brilliant! Are the cheeseburgers still $8, and $6 for a bottled water?

CEO: Hamburgers are $8, cheeseburgers are $9 now. 25-cents for a ketchup packet. Hot dogs $6, pizza slices $8, sodas $8, beer, $10.

Spokesperson: Nice!

CEO: Parking is still $20. Unless you want the cheap $5 lot, which we conveniently offer a shuttle from, which costs $10.

Spokesperson: Doing anything for Lexi?

CEO: Yes, we are having a meet and greet with her, $30 per person, four hours before the race. She has agreed to do this, for the fans, and not really for us.

Spokesperson: How much are we getting from it?

CEO: She was more attentive to the contract this time. So, I agreed to letting her have $22 of each $30. Sucks, but here’s the plan.

Spokesperson: Ok?

CEO: We have told the fans the meet and greet begins at 8:00am and goes to 9:00am, but Lexi has been told it is from 8:30 until 9:15. As the fans wait, there will be the Starlight Suites car that she raced in that fans can take their photo beside, for $10. Most will, and we get this done during the wait time, we recoup that money. Results through the second round of the Hot Knockout bracket will be provided after the race, too.

NSSCRA: "CARPET KHAN" BECOMES SEASON'S THIRD ROOKIE WINNER
Stiller notches back to back runner-up finishes

by Francis Ludgate

HAWKWIND - Sherpa racer Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal has just come off a great season in the Independent Racing Association of the Chinese Territories, earning championship honors ahead of Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association veteran Kai Qiang. The two, along with IRACT third-placer Dinggu Wang, were chosen to represent the Sherpa Empire in the eighth NSSCRA season. Zakhilwal was aiming to continue his success in the international stage. After Qiang recorded a win in the Leruse 400 in Sedile, the man nicknamed "Carpet Khan" due to his Wolf Totem Carpets sponsorship was left waiting for a chance to taste victory lane. That wait ended at the Mercentile Markets Grand Prix of Galliburton at the Road Marrieta Raceway here in Xanneria, as Zakhilwal drove his #06 AutoModi to a win, first of his career, and third by a rookie this season.

Skip Stiller, driver of the #3 QED Car Rentals Chadwick for St. Kanye's Glorious Free Republic Motorsports, took second place again, a week after he did so at the Toys 4 All 500 in Vilita. "Congrats to Rinzi", said Stiller in an interview. "The lad showed that he didn't win IRACT for nothing. He's also making a strong case to be Rookie of the Year and to be recognized as a top Sherpa driver alongside their ace Qiang." It was Qiang himself taking third place in his #44 Khamdo Electronics TMW; he and Stiller were focused on fighting each other for position during the last laps, allowing Zakhilwal to slip past. Stiller's teammate Thea Alvarez, driver of the #46 Multiversal Automotive Coatings Chadwick, was fourth, followed by Hapiloppian Chet Byrd in the #73 Fat Chuck's Tasty Fried Chicken Preston, Cassadagan Jenna Logan in the #11 Pink Love Clothing Blaze, Team Tropicorp's Anavella Ariiki in the #88 Tropicorp Dart, Vilita and Turori's Centur Tiones (the polesitter) in the #2 Tiones Dart, Byrd's teammate Frank Bronson in the #37 Hapilopper Airlines Preston, and Wang in the #79 Chirpy Chhurpi TMW.

The third GFR driver, Jeremiah Brooke, had a good start, putting his #18 Hyde Medical Group Chadwick in the front pack and leading some laps after climbing back from a thirty-fifth place start. But he lost control while avoiding the wreck of Kohan X (#02) in the middle portion of the race. Brooke spun into the grass, hit some tire barriers, and went back on track, but with some front and side damage. He was still able to finish the race, but even though he only took seventeenth, he's still the points leader. "Not quite happy. I could have not took damage, and I could have gotten a better finish, maybe won, and got more points to widen my lead. But it could have been worse. At least I didn't crash out or endured what happened last season. Sure, I can laugh about it now, but back then it was painful to look back on". Brooke was referring to his crash at the Brycline Harbor road course, also in Xanneria, that prevented him from advancing into the Chase, or because of an injury, competing during the final races at all.

Alvarez talked about the hard racing that she witnessed from Stiller and Qiang during the final laps. "Those two were always going at it when they're in the position to", she said. "Made it hard for me to pass them. I wasn't able to. But Rinzi did. I guess I should have followed him through. Well, I'm taking this good finish. Just what I needed to take my mind of that disaster that was the Clash." Alvarez was classified thirteenth of fifteen in the Vilaye Clash non-points race last week; she was leading late in the final segment when a piston broke. Stiller was seventh, and Brooke was second behind V&T's Yraaga Gilli'i (#41).

Zakhilwal's victory has gotten the attention of Kanyean men's care company Mayhem, whose logo has appeared on his car in several races this season. Mayhem has proposed a new deal with Zakhilwal, offering sponsorship for all the remaining races of the regular season no matter how he does (as well as the Chase, if and only if the Sherpalander qualifies). The deal is still awaiting a response, according to a company spokesperson.

The NSSCRA visits Hampton Island next week for the Golden Bear 400 at Stafford City Speedway. Last season's incarnation of the race was the first appearance for Lexi Patterson (#30), who went from being a part-timer for the local team to landing a full-time ride with Team Jebslund. However, this coming Sunday, the open charter will belong to "Fast" Freddie Nielson in the #34 machine. Kanyean racing analyst Max Gannon of the To The Max radio show is more than a little doubtful of the five-time Hampton Island league champion's abilities however. "He was a champion", says Gannon. "Was. That was many years ago. The man's seventy-three now. Give it a rest. He might be a danger to the other drivers, as well as himself. Why can't he just take a mentor job at Hampton Island Racing the way [Hapiloppian WGPC driver] Drake Stevenson did at Team Blue?"

All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET (Saint KanYe NETwork) Sports Channel 12, and online at nsscra.skynet.stk.

Back To Stafford City Speedway,
by Stacie Houston

It is always nice to return to a track that you won at the prior season. My win was not the most adored by the locals, since I beat out Alex Knight, a Hampton Island local for the win, and temporarily kept him out of the chase. They probably liked me a little more once Knight ended up making the Chase anyway by winning the Pencurve. The Golden Bear 400 was an interesting race for me, as I met a young driver named Lexi Patterson who was very nervous. Her pit stall was right in front of mine, and one of my biggest concerns was that she would pit properly as to not be in our way. Due to this, I talked to her at length the night before the race, and the two of us had a good understanding of one another. She did a great job in that race, and was never a hindrance towards us. It was then I knew that she wanted to do whatever it took to succeed at a high level. A few days after the race, she told me about what was done to her by her sponsors and supporters, and it was a shame. Now, she is thriving with Jebslund. I know she does not have the win, but she has scored a couple of top fives now, and has shown that she belongs on the same track as the rest of us. She is presently ahead of all of the Hampton Island regular drivers, and is in the thick of the rookie of the year race. I would love for her to get a win, and it would be a fairy tale win if it came right here.

Hampton Island will now be starting a champion from long ago, named Freddie Nielson. I can’t complain too much about his age, since he put together a better qualifying lap then I did, and since we are starting near each other on the grid, I look forward to meeting him. I don’t know what has motivated him to get back into the race car, since I hear that he has been retired for a while, but perhaps he is just eager to run against drivers from all over the world, something that he would not have had a chance to do when he was winning championship. Someone joked to me that it would be like our World Cup team starting Allison Salamida in goal for qualifying, our World 50 and 51 winning keeper, for the current qualifying session. Of course, Allison is older then 73 now. I suppose driving a race car is different, and I don’t deny that he can’t run well here for a little while. But over 400 miles? Probably a much different story.

Last week, the race was won by the unsponsored Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal, from The Sherpa Empire, another great rookie in the sport. He’s had a sponsor, Mayhem, in certain races, but they have not been there for him in a race that followed one after he finished 15th. That is the reason why they were not on the car for his win in Xanneria, and I am sure they are regretting that now as their logo was not in victory lane, and will not be a part of the season highlight video package when Zakhilwal’s win is mentioned. I’m proud for the loyal sponsorship that Five Star Mobile provides for me, being with me through the highs and the lows. I’m looking to make the Golden Bear 400 a high. Let’s do this!

Lexi had never really expected race day to be so busy. Most other races, she'd be putting in some last-minute sim time before the race, but for the Golden Bear 400, she would be getting up at 6. From 630 to 7, she had breakfast with Eva Kerman of Die Sportler, who wanted to interview her as part of series Die Sportler's parent company, Der Tägliche Speck, a major news company in Jebslund, was doing on the rise in popularity of stock car racing. From 715 to 815, Sie Nah had wanted to do a meet and greet of their own, with a basic meet and greet being free, $5 for an unsigned photo with Lexi, $10 to get a signed photo with her next to her Sie Nah Fleet Systems Bartpinguin (the backup one, of course), $5 for a picture behind the wheel of the #30 (the backup vehicle again), and $40 to enter a raffle, the proceeds of which would go to a local charity, for a chance to ride in the backup #30, modified to fit a passenger, with Lexi as she did some of her practice laps for Die Landschaftlich Schöne Strecke later during the season, all expenses (including, of course, travel, food, lodging, time off from work, and race tickets) paid. The original time had been for 715 to 745, but the track had set up a meet and greet at 830, so Sie Nah had extended their photo op session, something which had confused Lexi as much as being asked to fax them her copy of the contract and thanked for giving them a golden opportunity. From 930 to 1030, she'd be reviewing race strategy with her pit crew. From 1045 to 1115, she was expected to get a little bit of relaxation in, and then report to the track no later than 1120 in order to have time to make the driver's meeting.

It wasn't until she was going over the interview details and her schedule with Eva (Die Sportler) the day before that she found out *why* Sie Nah's meet and greet had been extended. Eva's cousin was planning on going to both meet and greets, and had been surprised to find out the times for both overlapped. Fans had been told the track meet and greet would start at 8 and run until 9. Lexi was furious, ready to call the track and call off their meet and greet and Sie Nah to extend theirs, but Eva talked her out of it, instead talking her into announcing, when she arrived, that the track's meet and greet would be extended to run until 930 to make up for the lateness. By then, the copy of the information given to Lexi, alongside a copy of the information given to race fans, would have mysteriously made its way not only to both Beihua and The Kardashia Kibitzer, who Sie Nah's executives knew to be two of the main sources of NSSCRA coverage, but also to various Hampton Island news outlets.

Sofia, once the details had been ironed out with Highland, spent the days up to race day doing as many practice laps as the track would let her. She wanted to break in her new Highland tires as soon as possible, and was more than happy to share the track with Eva and Lexi as they practiced, knowing Eva needed to get back on her game as soon as she could if she wanted to stay in contention for the Chase, and Lexi needed to polish her skills if she wanted to rise back to the top of the ROTY contenders. Eva had fallen to seventh in points due to her run of bad races, and there was nothing that was going to stop her from giving her all and then some to claw her way back into the top five, at the very least, though the #1 spot was her ultimate goal. Off the track, she, Sofia, and Lexi were friends. On it, they were rivals, almost even enemies, and none was content to allow the others an easy opponent to ignore.

Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.

Rd 14 Xanneria Review

Centur Tiones :: #2 Tiones Lumber Dart
:: WINS: [ 1 ] :: TOP 5: [ 5 ] :: TOP 10: [ 8 ] -:- POLES: [ 1 ]

For the first time in 40 NSSCRA Races Centur Tiones finally broke through and earned the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award to start on Pole Position as the circuit took to the winding drug-smuggling turns of Road Xanneria. The course suited Tiones well as a good all-around driver who struggled to make a name for themselves as either a short track or speedway specialist. After qualifying on Pole Position, Tiones and the #2 Vilita and Turori Motorsports team were hoping to repeat some of the magic from the only previous Pole Position that Centur Tiones had won as a top level Stock Car driver back during NSSCRA Season 6 when the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart stole the show at the Imperial Speedway in South Stead, Vangaziland sweeping the seasons only Vannish event much to the dismay of the home fans.

Since then, only two drivers have matched the same feat, winning an event from Pole Position and both were Glorious Free Republic Motorsports drivers. During NSSCRA Season 7, Skip Stiller won just the second ever Vilaye Energy Drink sponsored pole award and didnt look back sweeping the weekend at the Dealmaker Valley Battleground with Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver River 'Shark' Suzgar close behind starting and finishing second in a front-row sweep of the weekend. Most recently during NSSCRA Season 8, Stillers Teammate Jeremiah Brooke won the race after winning the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award at the Nurburg Raceway in Caleonia. While Tiones was unable to re-create the magic from South Stead two seasons prior, they were still able to pilot the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart to a top 10 finish, the only Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver to do so.

River "Shark" Suzgar II :: #14 Vilitan Tourism / Vilaye Energy Drink / Toys '4' All Dart
:: WINS: [ 1 ] :: TOP 5: [ 3 ] :: TOP 10: [ 6 ] -:- POLES: [ 1 ]

River 'Shark' Suzgar II remains the most consistent Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver and one of the most consistent drivers on the circuit despite having hit a rut of form since scoring their first win of the season at the Lantis Sirenia 300 in Lisander. Suzgar has finished just once inside the Top 10 since then and it was only a 9th place finish at the Nurburg Raceway in Caleonia before a disappointing 14th place finish at the home race in Vilita and an even more embarrassing DNF at their sponsors home track during the non-points Vilaye Energy Clash event held at the Yutzie River Raceway in Vilisorma.

It seemed as if their form was turning around after a 4th place starting position at Road Marietta Raceway in Xanneria but it was not to be as Suzgar was run out to their worst finish of the season, albeit still in the top half of the field in 21st place. While having finished every single race in the Top 21 has resulted in a solid footing points wise for Sugar who currently sits 5th in the Regular Season Standings, a lack of Top 5 finishes - just 3 over the first fourteen events, has seen the former NSSCRA Champion slip to a full 43 points behind current standings leader Jeremiah Brooke. While there is no concern yet in the Vilita and Turori Motorsports camp as the team historically has never challenged for the Regular Season title and has always been built for explosions of form to succeed in the Playoff Chase, there is little room for error as a further 43 points behind Suzgar is a four way battle for 11th place meaning that a string of DNF's could quickly put the #14 Vilita and Turori Motorsports Dart team in a tricky situation.

Yraaga Gilli'i :: #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart
:: WINS: [ 2 ] :: TOP 5: [ 4 ] :: TOP 10: [ 5 ] -:- POLES: [ 2 ]

At the end of NSSCRA Season 6, one of the biggest sustained rumors was that Yraaga Gilli'i would be replaced by CoCoCo-backed development driver Rockii Ezis for NSSCRA Season 7. When Gilli'i's sponsor Tropicorp announced they would be fielding a team in the NSSCRA during Season 7, the rumors intensified with some reporting it would be a 'sure thing' that Gilli'i would be moved over to the newly formed Team Tropicorp while Ezis would ascend to the full time chartered seat at one of the most well funded teams on the Stock Car Racing circuit. Instead, Ezis would have to wait on the sidelines again, missing the first two races of the season before entering as an un-chartered driver while Gilli'i surprisingly retained their spot in the #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart. Sponsor Tropicorp cited that their fledgling Team Tropicorp would be serving a tactical purpose running experiments and participating in their Cocoabo Enrichment and Enhancement Program as part of the natural progression for its Auto Racing program. They also cited they believed strongly in Gilli'i's talent and were continuing to stand behind them.

The gamble paid off in a big way for Tropicorp, Gilli'i and Vilita and Turori Motorsports as the #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart quickly found victory lane at the Toys '4' All 500 during NSSCRA Season 7, securing Gilli'i a spot in the NSSCRA Chase for the first time and immediately proving wrong any doubters while Rockii Ezis finished outside the Top 10 in the same event. For anyone who thought Gilli'i's win was a fluke - winning at a home track for their team and sneaking into the Chase, those comments were also shut down promptly as the playoffs began with Gilli'i out-dueling eventual series champion Stacie Houston to win the Five Star Mobile 500 in Concord Heights. Eventually Gilli'i would make it all the way to the Championship Four in Tundra Falls representing all of Vilita and Turori as well as Tropicorp and nearly making it count finishing second in the race but falling short of the title which would be won by race winner and newly forged rival of Gilli'i; Stacie Houston of Cassadaigua.

Yet there were still some doubters. Still some who expected that Team Tropicorp would pull Gilli'i back from Vilita and Turori Motorsports and once again leaving a hole for Ezis to walk through. It is even rumored that those discussions took place as Team Tropicorp were looking to transition into a more series attempt at competing for the series title. Vilita and Turori Motorsports were having none of it, however. Like Tropicorp, they believed in their driver and like Tropicorp, their loyalty would be rewarded. As Rockii Ezis and CoCoCo finally cut ties and ran off to Rocket Motorsports, Yraaga Gilli'i was busy establishing themselves as an early favorite to win the NSSCRA title by winning the Cocoabo Preservation 300K in the Cocoabo Forest, the Toys '4' All 500 in Lonngeylin and even taking home the non-points Vilaye Energy Clash event after a well timed exchange of the lead after a late race battle with Jeremiah Brooke and Stacie Houston after Thea Alvarez suffered mechanical trouble to close up the field.

While Gilli'i's second consecutive win at the Toys '4' All 500 made them the first two-time Regular Season winner on the NSSCRA Circuit since Kev Schorebrook during NSSCRA Season 6, they still found themselves 80 points off the pace for the Regular Season Title. With two wins, there was no longer a threat of failing to advance to the post season but over the final five races of the regular season Gilli'i and the #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart team would have to determine if there was any way to improve their consistency and perfect their strategy to move from Series Runner Up to Series Champion during NSSCRA Season 8.

With Ezis now having moved on to Rocket Motorsports and Articala Electrical backed development driver Lotara Novorali having performed admirably on her debut in a vehicle that was not originally prepared for her use, Vilita and Turori Motorsports have decided to apply for an open charter for Novorali to make her second start at the Sonrise Motorway in Blue Coast, Vangaziland. Arcticala Electrical have indicated they would step up to support the young driver in a handful of non super-speedway events if appropriate during the season.

The Team Blue Shuttle, somewhere between Hampton Island and Hapilopper
Several hours after the Golden Bear 400
Frank Bronson was experiencing a feeling that could be charitably described as “weird.” No, he didn’t win the Golden Bear 400 just a few hours ago at the little Stafford City Speedway in Hampton Island. But he sure came close – inches, to be more exact. The fans at the track in Hampton Island, watching on the Hapilopper Television Network, and elsewhere around the world lit up with excitement watching Clarissa Alanis Star and Frank duke it out for victory, and while there had been some mild disappointment among Hapiloppians for the fact that Frank had lost the race by about five inches, it did little to temper the excitement of what had been a fantastic race.

More importantly, it did a lot to raise confidence in his own abilities, both for himself and for Team Blue, who had been waiting for results from Frank. Officially, it wasn’t a win. However, for Ken Henson, the owner of Team Blue, it sure felt like one. The team’s personnel were now traveling home on the Team Blue Shuttle, a jumbo jet chartered from Hapilopper Airlines, at 40,000 feet in the air, and Frank and Ken were having a friendly conversation about what the 2nd place finish meant for Frank’s future.

“You did good out there,” Ken told his driver. “Hell, you did damn good. Another five inches and we’d be the ones with the trophy. You can’t get much closer than that, and for that, hell, I think I can say I’ve regained a lot of confidence in you.”

“I’ve been wondering about my future lately,” Frank said. “I’m just trying to make sure I can keep doing this after this year.”

“You probably will,” Ken said with a smile on his face. “I know we’ve got just a one-year deal for you right now, but I think we’ll meet regarding an extension in the next few weeks. Once our equipment gets up to where we think it should be, we’ll be winning races and running more consistently up front. You’ve shown something this week, and I’m proud of you.”

Meanwhile, a few rows away, Chet Byrd was reading the news on his phone, trying to catch up with what had happened in the last several days since he had been preoccupied with competing in Hampton Island. As a member of the Hetfield Lane Neighborhood Association, he had been asked to attend an upcoming meeting of the Hapilopper City Council in opposition to the construction of a new neighborhood. Chet groaned, as the general opinion he had about city councilmen was, well, they were a bunch of idiots, and he’d have to sit through three hours of garbage just to get to whatever public hearing he was supposed to be a part of.

There was also other goings-on in Hapilopper – the “Hapilopper Citizens Refusing Any Paycut,” or H-CRAP for short, an anti-tax, anti-big government organization, had made quite a show at a recent town hall meeting for a local congressman, specifically, telling him to vote against an upcoming budget bill or he would receive regular shipments of horse manure every single day. Leroy Hunnisett, the embattled third baseman for the Hapilopper City Nationals, stated he would end his holdout with the team, after the team’s general manager was fired for a variety of reasons.

And there was the report from Xanneria about the owners of Road Marietta being arrested days after the Mercantile Markets Grand Prix. It turned out that Brad and Dill Whitmire had one of the largest cocaine importing operations in the country, and some of their product had been found at the track during the NSSCRA race weekend. Chet’s suspicions that weekend were absolutely correct. He jumped up from his seat and started ranting and raving towards the back of the plane, catching Chris Holmes and Drake Stevenson off guard.

“Is there a problem, Chet?” Drake asked his senior teammate.

“Turns out my suspicions were correct!” Chet shouted. “Remember when we went to Road Marietta? Apparently they found some coke at the track and it uncovered a large coke ring! The owners of the track were drug runners!”

Chet continued his ranting and raving as he walked through the plane, which led to some Team Blue crew members to believe that Chet had, once and for all, lost it.

Chris and Drake, meanwhile, continued their conversation. Chris had pretty much given up on the prospect of getting together with Hannah Byrd, and started discussing the idea of starting up an online dating profile. So Chris looked to someone for help, and naturally he turned to the one person that had been helping him since the start, and that person had shunned dating anyone for a few years now.

“So, what should I do?” Chris asked him.

“Well, don’t take pictures of your own genitalia,” Drake responded. “Also, don’t take pictures of you holding a fish. Apparently there’s too many men doing that on online dating sites.”

“What if I took a picture of myself in the fresh fish aisle at Mel’s Ultra-Mart?”

Drake cracked up. This was a dumb idea, but it was so dumb that it actually could work.

“Sure, why not?” Drake said, laughing.

“If we went to Mel’s tomorrow, could you join me to take the pictures?” Chris asked. “I bet we could get some great shots.”

“What, as in, a glamour shot?” Drake replied quizzically as Frank Bronson returned to his seat. “If you think you’re going to look sexy holding a frozen fish in a supermarket, you’re out of your mind!”

Frank looked at Drake and chuckled. He had a session booked with Jennifer Olivetti tomorrow evening. Turns out he was, for the time being, still in the running for that Stock Car Studs competition, and he wanted to tip the scales in his own favor. He would do so with a few risqué photographs that next evening, and maybe something that could really get everyone’s attention.

“You know, they sell fresh squid there,” Chris said. “I bet I could really get someone’s attention with some fresh squid.”
Frank looked over at Chris and had a weird look on his face.

“Chris, for as long as I live, I don’t ever want to hear you saying you’re going to get someone’s attention with fresh squid,” Frank said. “In fact, I don’t ever want to see you doing ANYTHING with fresh squid. I just can’t trust you with it.”

“Why not?” Chris asked.

“Because I have this weird feeling you’ll do something that’ll get the cops called,” Frank said. “You know, like that time you showed up with that can of silly string in the engine shop?”

“Well, I had no idea silly string would catch fire like that,” Chris said. “Let alone explode.”

“Wait, what?” Drake said.

“We’ll tell you when we get back to the Team Blue shop,” Frank said. “Just keep Chris away from anything that makes him chuckle. We’ll have an emergency situation on our hands.”

Scene: Stafford City Speedway, after the race

CEO: Don’t worry about it, Freddie. You did great.

Freddie Nielson: No, I didn’t. I feel like I could have done more then I did. I got in a wreck because some young punk ran right through me.

CEO: It’s ok, you are a champion. Hopefully, they let you run in Marquette later this year, but I have no control over that.

Freddie Nielson: That 25 car, damn, he ran right through me.

CEO: Don’t worry about it, you were below minimum speed at that time, but that’s perfectly fine. We sold a lot of memorabilia in celebration of your return. The fans really enjoyed it.

Freddie Nielson: I am happy about that. I was getting a little tired then, I should have made my pit stop but the 25 could have just passed me earlier. And I had nothing to do with that other wreck.

CEO: Yeah, the 10 of Eddie Walters claimed that they hit the wall because you were driving too erratically. I say he just ran out of talent.

Freddie Nielson: Yeah I was not driving erratically.

CEO: I know.

Freddie Nielson: I didn’t know there were so many lasses in the sport, a lot of them.

CEO: Yes, there is. Unfortunately, many of them do a good job.

Freddie Nielson: It was a pleasure to race here again. That winner girl was awfully tall.

CEO: Yeah, they are from an interesting country.

Freddie Nielson: Are they all tall like that? Maybe I should go there?

CEO: I went there, everything is so much bigger. Good country, I would recommend it.

Freddie Nielson: I will do better next time. If there is one.

CEO: I am sure you will, you had been away for a while, and were just a little rusty. Don't worry, NSSCRA officials were so impressed by your performance, they gave James McCurty a charter. He is no longer subject to qualifying in!

Freddie Nielson: Well that is good.

NSSCRA: "STAR" OF THE NIGHT
Valentian wins in photo finish at H. Island; Qiang climbs to top of standings

by Ray Wright

STAFFORD CITY - It's been back-to-back rookie victories in the NSSCRA (Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association). Last week, Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal from the Sherpa Empire conquered the Mercentile Markets Grand Prix of Galliburton in Xanneria, whereas this week at the Golden Bear 400 here in Hampton Island, Clarissa Alanis Star of Valentine Z took the honors.

It was a very close victory for Star, who drives the #7 Lhotse Love/Isalov Industries Eveline. The margin of victory between her and Hapiloppian Frank Bronson in the #37 Hapilopper Airlines Preston was just 0.001 second. Third place went to Zakhilwal's fellow Sherpalander, Kai Qiang, in the #44 Khamdo Electronics TMW; Qiang also nabbed the top spot in the driver standings by one point over St. Kanye's Jeremiah Brooke. Fourth and fifth were two Vilita & Turori Motorsports Darts, the #2 Tiones Lumber car of Centur Tiones and River Suzgar's #14 Vilaye Energy Drink machine. Sixth was Kanyean Thea Alvarez, driving the #46 Multiversal Automotive Coatings Chadwick for Glorious Free Republic Motorsports, followed by Team Tropicorp's Cocoabo #78 in the same-numbered Cocoabo Park Dart, hometown bet Alex Knight in the #6 Charged Up Transmissions vehicle, GFR's Skip Stiller in the #3 QED Car Rentals Chadwick, and Jebslunden Eva Kerman in the #13 BDA Lowe.

Last week's winner Zakhilwal settled for nineteenth in the #06 Mayhem AutoModi, whereas Brooke can only bring his #18 Hyde Medical Group Chadwick up to twenty-fourth. "Back-to-back mediocre performances for our team", said Brooke. "Just because I have the points lead doesn't mean I should slack off, and the less than stellar finishes in this race and the last one aren't helping. I'm looking forward to visiting Blue Coast [in Vangaziland] next week, nice place, and hope I could rebound there. As for Qiang, he's having good finishes. He's been slowly making his way to the top of the standings week after week. That just shows that he can do so much, and that he's not to be taken lightly." Stiller commented on the finish of the race. "Man, Stafford City Speedway was roaring, and it's not because of the bears. Hard fought effort from both the 7 and the 37 there. Could have gone either way, really. Star got Bronson by like five inches or something, was it? Gotta be in the running for race of the season if you ask me. If only I was there to be part of the mix."

Seventy-three-year-old Freddie Nielson, former five-time champion of the Hampton Island domestic stock car series, participated in the 400 as the home team's part-time entry. However, his return to the track ended early. Vannish Kev Schorebrook's #25 REDUP Energy Drink VM and Nielson's #34 Freestyle Mobility car tangled into each other, taking them both out of the race. In light of the incident, Jalton Superspeedway management cancelled their invitation to Nielson to be part of the battle for the open charter in the Pencurve Electronics 500. "Safety is our priority. We recognize Mr. Nielson's accomplishments, but we strongly believe that the complications brought upon by his age would make for a less than desirable outcome if he continues to participate", said a spokesperson for the track, who refused to be identified.

Hampton Island-based Starlight Suites has also announced the semifinalists for their Starlight Hot Knockout popularity contest. Cassadagans Stacie Houston and Jenna Logan are paired against each other in one bracket, while Alvarez will be facing native Hampton Islander and current Team Jebslund rookie Lexi Patterson in the other. "Oh, my god. This has to be the hardest challenger I have to face in this contest", said Alvarez. "I think Lexi is way prettier than me, though I've read many comments online, mostly from Yeezies, that are in support of me. So it could go either way, I guess. Good luck to Lexi in this contest. It's just for fun anyway, don't forget that."

Next week is the first of two Vannish races in the schedule, the VannAir Blue Coast 400 at Sonrise Motorway, which GFR R&D driver Sage Caldwell is hoping to enter. All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET (Saint KanYe NETwork) Sports Channel 12, and online at nsscra.skynet.stk.

The Valentians - Qualifications @ Mercentile Markets Grand Prix, Road Marietta Raceway, Xanneria

Image

Jenny Claudia Sombra Linette Hoshiko: Well, welcome to our nightmares, I guess! This is the place.

Before the Valentian trio could even get to the course itself, Jenny already showed the map to the three of them, showing the schematics of the course, as well as a few other technical specifications.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Well, looks fine to me so far… I think. Does not look as difficult as the previous Road Course, I feel.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yeah, that is true! I mean, the shape looks okay, that's fair. But are you sure that the driving conditions there will be much better? I mean, I have looked at the satellite photos, and it looks rather… worn-out.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Well, we won't know until we try it during the qualifications, I suppose! I can't wait to try it out, haha!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: You are always a little too confident to me, Gwen.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Hehe, I got that a lot from people around me!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Well, best of luck to all of us! The qualifications, doesn’t really matter much, but we have to try our best, anyway! And for the actual race as well!

And with that, the three Valentians went off for their qualifications, which went rather well, as one would expect. Clarissa, Jolyn, and Gwen finished off the qualifications with their best timings, placing them at 15th, 31st, and 33rd respectively.

The Valentians - Actual Race @ Mercentile Markets Grand Prix, Road Marietta Raceway, Xanneria

The Valentian trio made their way to their cards the very next day. Gwen was tossing her helmet around, Clarissa had a big smile on her face after binge-watching 2 hours of cat videos in the morning. At the same time, Jolyn was sweating profusely, not because of the weather itself, but rather after looking and thinking about the track for so long. Will she make it through? Or will she end up as a DNF like Gwen did for the previous race?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Everything all right, Jolyn? You seem very… tense, indeed!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Ohh err, I’m fine, don’t worry about it. I’m just thinking if I would do well for this race! I hate road courses… I never tell you guys in full, but I have some trouble in that Cocoabo Park, and also that Fortress Run, so… I am not too confident!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: On the bright side, I don’t think there’s much wildlife here… hopefully they won’t jump into your car as stowaway!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Yup, yup! All the best to us all, haha!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: You too, Clarissa! All the best!

And with that, they got into their respective cars, and they are away!

The course did not seem as bad as the Valentians thought. They found out that the course was fine, with turns that are manageable unlike the ones in the Cocoabo Park, and not as hazardous as the ones in the Fortress Run. However, after the first few laps, Clarissa realised that the road was not too good when it comes to traction itself. Sure, it was well-maintained, and there are neither cracks, openings, nor bumps at any parts of the course, but she simply noticed that there were not a lot of traction when it comes to turning, and it did not help much that there were little to no barriers for some parts of the road; one could go off-track if they they aren’t careful with their turns.

However, from their starting places, Clarissa and Jolyn managed to make it all the way to 1st and 7th respectively, while Gwen fell back 3 places to 36th by the end of the last lap of the first segment. Jolyn was extra cautious with her turns and her overall driving, while Gwen was seeing herself struggle behind the clusters of cars, unable to find a way around to overtake them.

The second segment started smoothly, and given the length of the course and the laps, the Valentian trios realised that they would need to top up their fuel tanks. The tires didn’t seem to have that a lot of wear and tear, so they are still fine, but they still figured that they would just go ahead with topping it up so that they would not have to go to the pit again the second time for the tires separately.

At one turn of the course, Clarissa was having a casual conversation with Gwen, who in turn managed to get up to 24th for the time being of the race.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Ha hahh, enjoying the first place, isn’t it?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Hehe, yup! This doesn’t seem as hard as I thought it would be!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Well, maybe you are an expert it, and your little computer circuits are performing optimally!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Indeed, indeed! Say, how are you doing?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Not too good! There are still several cars in front of me, and the traffic is still pretty heavy behind.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Are both the insides and outsides that crowded?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Well, most of them are on the inside of the track. I guess they didn’t really want to get flung out of the track and into the grass field.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Yup, that turn is kinda tricky. But hey, I got this!

In a rather unexpected bur unsurprising turn of events, Clarissa suddenly accelerated harder instead of breaking it. However, by the time she realised her mistake, it was a little too late. She was still able to break on time, but human mind panicked and overwhelmed her CPU mind, and she was frozen with fear for that brief moment.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Clarissa, turn! Turn… TURN! TURN!

Clarissa tried to, but ultimately, she slipped off from the outside of the track and eventually landed on a grass patch, followed by hitting a few plants along the way. Had she hit a tree though, it would have been over for her.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Oh my goodness, Clarissa, what the fuck?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Aww, nyet! That was what I was worried about these tracks! Clarissa, are you all right?

After 4 seconds or so, Clarissa emerged back and landed back on the road. Apart from a few plants, there was no other causalities or collateral damage involved; all of the cameramen and fans around were certainly fine, though the former have certainly gotten hold of the embarrassing footage of Clarissa ending up in a bush. Her face was blushing, and she was trying her best not to look outside at all.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: I’m fine, Jolyn, I’m fine… that is so embarrassing though!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I know, but hey, a lot of other drivers have DNFed for a lot less, so… you still have a chance, come on!

After slowing down considerably and making sure that her friend was fine, Jolyn sped up once again, ignoring the barrage of vehicles that have just went past her. She let them pass for the time being, while she let Clarissa try to catch up as best as she can. Gwen, on the other hand, was in the crowd of cars, aware of the situation that happened on that turn, but she didn’t see it in action given that she was slightly away when this happened.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Clarissa, no worries! These things happen, you will catch up fine!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: And that is why I hate the road course, guys… there’s always a degree of risk and danger to them, more so than the speedways!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Hehe, point taken!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Haha, got it! So… let’s try our best to claim back our places… and my dignity!

By the end of the second segment, Clarissa placed 40th, while Jolyn placed 33rd, and Gwen placed 27th.

By the third segment and after a fresh set of tires and a top-up of fuel, Clarissa and Jolyn improved overall – they placed 25th and 22nd respectively by the end of the last lap of the third segment. Gwen, on the other hand, was still struggling with the crowd of vehicles in the 20-30 positions, and she fell back to 30th, while she watched Clarissa and Jolyn whizzed by her.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Come on, Gwen, we need to catch up with them!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I’m trying, don’t worry about it!

The fifth segment was where Clarissa shone once again, placing 1st by the end of the last lap of the segment. Jolyn kept her place this time, only losing a place from 9th to 10th. Gwen, on the other hand, lost some focus with another turn and as a result, lost some speed and hit an inside wall a little. The loss of speed and precious seconds would knock her back from 19th to 30th.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Geez, these guys take racing very seriously! One wrong move and they are all back!

The final segment, the last lap, was where Clarissa, and basically the Valentian trio unfortunately failed yet again. While Clarissa was trying to do that very turn that she was afraid of, she breaked too hard and as a result, lost a rather considerable amount of speed for that turn. It was a far lot better than crashing into the bushes, but for all intents and purposes, she lost a few precious seconds because of that, and the other vehicles were more than welcome to take her 1st spot, as well as her 2nd spot… and 3rd… basically by the end of the last lap of the race, Clarissa fell to 25th. Jolyn and Gwen, on the other hand, were distracted a little too much by Clarissa’s disasters, and ended up respectively at 14th and 33rd respectively. This was not a very good race, they thought to themselves.

They quietly drove back their vehicles to their garages and rested it off, all of them with their long faces. Though, Jolyn was relatively the happiest, because while there were a fair share of disasters and obstructions that both of her friends encountered, she felt that placing 14th in a road course that she does not exactly like, was an improvement.

After resting for a few more hours, they got some news from Jared that Clarissa headed off to a nearly park alone.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Clarissa went to the park alone? I mean… that’s what she usually does, so maybe she was just out breathing some fresh air?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Clarissa doesn’t have lungs, Gwen. Sure, she loves the nature, but they are not going to benefit her body that much.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: True…

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: I am a tad more concerned about why she headed off alone instead of telling us! She usually likes to do stuff with us!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Maybe it was because of that crash that we had today!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yeah, that’s right! So err… you coming with me.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Can I stay in the lounge and surprise her or something? I am a bit tired and-

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: That wasn’t a question, Gwen. You have to come with me, for our friend!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: And here I am being right about choices being an illusion…

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Come on, it’s for our friend!

The Valentians - After Race @ Some Park, Xanneria

Gwen and Jolyn have been finding Clarissa for a good 30 minutes in the park. It was quite a huge park, after all, and the views it offered were rather majestic. Unfortunately for them, the very same park was too big for Gwen and Jolyn, and after fanning out and around, they still couldn’t find the big robot girl.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Are you sure you have looked that way?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Yes, I certainly have! I have even searched around the forested walks. I hope she didn’t climb through the fence or something…

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I don’t think she will do that.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: How about your side? Was she around your side?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: If I found a 9-feet tall girl, I would have called you.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Now’s not the time for snarks, Gwen! Our friend is still missing!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Ahhh, don’t worry! We could just call her and let her know or something? I mean, it’s not like she’s gonna-

That’s when both of them exclaimed out the same exact thing. The nightmare of Jolyn…

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: HER WEAPONS!
Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: HER WEAPONS!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Ohh crap, I hope she doesn’t go crazy from that! She did say something about being embarrassed and-

Bathed under the moonlight was a tall and slim woman, walking towards them. Her movement was slow and certain, and she was walking towards Gwen and Jolyn. She was around 50 meters away from them.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: AHH, who the hell is that?!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I think that’s Clarissa. CLARISSAAAAA! IS THAT YOU? WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU!

There was no reply from the shadow walking towards them.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Why is she not replying to us?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Maybe that was NOT her, and maybe it was a threat?! Why did you shout and gave our position away?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: But that should be her! No one else is that big, Jolyn! No one but us!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: You are right, but why isn’t she responding?

The duo then had the idea of turning on their flashlights again and pointing it at the girl… who turned out to be Clarissa herself.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Hi, guys…

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Clarissa! Ahh, Love, we have been looking everywhere for you! So… why didn’t you respond to me?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: … I was just so sad for the first time.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Clarissa, what happened? Why are you so… sad? You never have this kind of sadness…

Clarissa then motioned and pointed towards a bench, whereby she asked Gwen and Jolyn to sit down for a moment. After they have done just that, Clarissa turned on her phone and showed them the footage from the news. It was a video from one of the camera crew that happened to be at Clarissa’s crash site. It was recorded in full, and in fact, a few image macros have already circulated around the internet. The most insulting one, Clarissa felt, was the one with the caption: STATE OF THE ART MACHINE. CAN’T DO A BASIC TURN.

She then kneeled down and gave Gwen and Jolyn a hug, with the latter two having no choice but to embrace her back.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: I am so sorry, guys… *sobs*

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Wait… Clarissa, are you crying?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: [Whisper] I thought robots don’t cry?

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: [Whisper] Shut it, she can!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Oh I do am feeling sadness for the first time, my friends. Gwen, I can indeed cry, but I never thought that I would! It was the mean, mean people on the internet!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Well, you have to get used to it.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Gwen!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Yeah, I mean, I don’t want to be apathetic, but this is true!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: But this is not the right time! Let the big robot girl have her moment!

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Haha aww, thanks, guys! No no, I just love that you guys are here to find me!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: C-c-Clarissa? You could, err… let us go with the hug, maybe-

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: [Whispers harshly] Let her have it!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: All right, all right… we love you too, Clarissa. I mean, you hug is a bit asphyxiating but it’s fine! We love you, haha!

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: No no, don’t hug us too tight, please!

After 30 more seconds, she finally let them go.

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Okay, could you pass me your phone?

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Certainly! Why so?

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: I want to get to the bottom of this. Hey, there’s a time for memes, but you don’t just mess with my friends like that!

Clarissa felt a little warmer hearing that her friend was there to protect her.

Clarissa Alanis Star Coraline Taissa: Andddd there you go! I need answers from whoever posted this crap!

Night after Mercentile Markets Grand Prix

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Now we wait for the damn answers.

Jolyn Helen Maxine Caulfield Ceeta: Well, underneath all that snark, you do care!

Gwen Tracer Allison Fate Hepburn: Haha, I do care, Jolyn! Hey, no one talks to my friends like that, even for memes…

The morning before the Golden Bear 400, Kai Qiang had breakfast at a local diner with his crew chief, Houzhi Chang, and they went over their plans for the race -- like they usually did. They were running a little behind their usual schedule and Chang seemed like he was rushing to finish his food. "Take your time," Qiang told him. Usually they allowed some time for autographs, fan photos, and such; but today, Qiang had decided to purposely oversleep and eat slowly at breakfast, so that he would not have much time to interact with the crowds at the track. Qiang pretended he wasn't concerned about the time, but he was actually paying close attention to make sure he arrived early enough so he would not miss anything important, but late enough so he could not be roped into signing many autographs or posing for many pictures. He had chosen a diner as close as possible to the track so that he could control the timing more easily and would not have to allow for unplanned delays. He didn't like Stafford City Speedway's management, he didn't like the way they charged extra for meet and greets with Lexi Patterson (they had done that last year too), and he didn't like the atmosphere at the track. It reeked too strongly of capitalist greed. There was some of that at every NSSCRA race, but Stafford City Speedway was especially obnoxious about it.

Of course, he'd met plenty of fans the previous day, when he took Mendok to try the Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge -- but that wasn't the point.

While Qiang was taking his time to savor every bite of bacon, pancake, and breakfast sausage, Rinzi Zakhilwal was already at the track schmoozing with the fans and trying to persuade A7DXZ5 to let him drive her during practice next week at Sonrise Motorway. His car was painted with Mayhem's colors, which he had agreed to run for the rest of the regular season. Next season, he would try to find a more stable sponsorship arrangement, but for now, everything was happening so fast, he just wanted to get through the season with whatever sponsorship he could get. AutoModi was pleased with his recent win at the Road Marietta Raceway, so the sponsorship situation wasn't a dire emergency. His deal with AutoModi was the one he absolutely needed if he wanted to continue competing in NSSCRA.

Beihua briefly mentioned the contradictory scheduling information from Lexi Patterson's meet and greet, but since they hadn't been privy to all the behind-the-scenes conversation at Stafford City Speedway, they didn't understand the full significance of it. They made some offhand comments like, "Haha, looks like IRACT has some competition for the most disorganized management in NSSCRA."

"I think the Xannerians and the Ferrets already gave them a run for their money."

"That's true, but it still looks bad when you keep people standing around for half an hour because you don't know how to write a schedule."

With only 6 races left in the regular season, Dinggu Wang desperately needed some good results to help him climb the points table. He didn't get what he needed in Hampton Island. He tried to make up for his lousy starting position by aggressively barging past several other cars. When he tried to pass David Rockingham, he misjudged the space between Rockingham's car and the wall, banged his front wheel on the wall, and spun into the side of Rockingham. He didn't know how to cuss in as many languages as Qiang or Zakhilwal, but he made good use of the obscene vocabulary that existed in standard Mandarin.

Zakhilwal had more success fighting his way to the front. Qiang was keeping a decent pace, but he was waiting for the hotheads to crash out or settle down before he tried anything too fancy.

After leading a few laps, Zakhilwal found it difficult to maintain his aggressive pace. Exhaustion caught up with him and he lost some time to a penalty for speeding on the pit road and a bump with Freddie Nielson before the older driver crashed out. Meanwhile, Qiang was gradually moving up the field as other people got tangled up with each other on the crowded track, got bogged down in the pits, or lost time to careless mistakes. He wasn't setting any new lap records, but he was consistently turning good clean laps, he got in and out of the pits smoothly when he needed to pit, and he stayed well clear of Nielson.

Dinggu Wang, who was out of his car and watching from the sidelines, slammed his fist on a nearby railing. Watching Qiang race made Wang think about what he might have accomplished if he'd been able to get into international racing at Qiang's age. It was like catching a glimpse of a dreamlike past that never was, and watching Freddie Nielson struggle to find his lines and maintain his speed was like a terrifying glimpse into the future. There was no escape from the passage of time and the effects of age. Sometimes, it made him want to cry when he thought of all the lost years that he'd languished in obscurity. He felt like his crash today had cost him more than just this race. It had probably cost him his shot at the Chase, and he might not get another shot.

The race ended in a photo finish between Clarissa Alanis Star and Frank Bronson, with Qiang not far behind them. On the podium, the tall Valentinian android towered over Bronson and Qiang, and the different heights of the platforms only exaggerated the difference in height between the drivers. Qiang mouthed to his crew, who were standing nearby, "I know her eyes are up there, but even if I look up, I'll still be staring at her boobs." The men of the #44 pit crew chuckled.

When someone brought over a live mic and asked Qiang for his thoughts, he stuck to talking about the race: "The Valentines drivers are new to NSSCRA, but they're willing to learn, and that paid off for Clarissa today."

The interviewer also asked for his thoughts about moving into the top slot in the points table. "Obviously, it's a good place to be, but a lot can happen between now and the Proving Grounds."

There were a couple more questions. Qiang said he felt sorry for Wang, Freddie Nielson shouldn't have been allowed to race, he didn't understand why Kev Schorebrook was having such a bad season, and people should vote for Thea Alvarez in the Hot Knock-Out Brackets. "She wouldn't know what to do with a man if she found one tied up in her bed, but you can't deny she's pretty. I'm a sucker for redheads."

Qiang hadn't meant for the line about finding a man tied up in her bed to be a reference to his own personal kinks, but of course people took it that way, and social media was full of comments like:

Team Has Gotten Cold,
by Chelsea Dufresne, Concord Heights

Team Cassadaigua leaves Stafford City Speedway, a track that they should have been good on, and were last year, with a lot of questions. Stacie Houston comes away finishing 18th, after winning this race last year. Jenna Logan, who honestly seems a little off right now (there, I said it), could only muster a 31st place finish. However, that was better then Meghan Sharpe, who was spun out by Paul Nystrom, an occasional qualifier out of New Northwesteros, and smacked the wall, ending her day. Now, that’s just my interpretation of the wreck. Meghan, as one would expect in NSSCRA was much more diplomatic, “We were a lap ahead of him, so I thought he would give me a little more room then he did after I made the pass. I did get a ‘clear high’ from my spotter, so I moved back up. Not long after my car is spinning out. I don’t think he would do that deliberately, and maybe I wasn’t as clear as I expected. It’s a shame, the Spacebook Blaze was running well.” There you have it, the typical friendly, don’t ruffle any feathers reply of a NSSCRA driver after a wreck. I miss the rivalry of Tyler Abbott and Shawn Curtis. Of course, neither are regulars any more, and maybe there is a good reason for that.

The race also featured a 73-year old driver from the home nation named Freddie Nielson, who at one time was a very good racer in his native Hampton Island. I thought he was good for maybe the first third of the race, but it was pretty obvious that there is a reason drivers retire before they get that old. He was a danger to himself, and to other drivers on the track, and I have no idea what he was doing when Kev Schorebrook (yes, he still exists), ran into the back of him. Schorebrook has stunk this year for some reason (maybe they were all demoralized when Jessica Franssen left the team), but he wasn’t doing anything wrong when a driver going much slower then him was suddenly right in front of him. This is a short track, so there was not much room for Schorebrook to react. Nielson was okay, but his erratic driving up to that point was noticed by mostly everyone. Last year, Stafford City Speedway introduced a diamond in the rough, an impressive young talent in Lexi Patterson who is thriving with Jebslund. While they may have looked like a genius for that, they certainly get a dunce cap for Nielson. There is another race in Hampton Island. Please, give us someone else in this car.

The leader in the points is now Kai Qiang, who to his credit has been very consistent this season. That is what it takes to win championships. Stacie Houston and Jeremiah Brooke, perhaps fittingly, over the last few races have both been inconsistent. Perhaps they are experimenting with things, knowing that they are safe (unless disaster hits) to make the chase.

The results in the Starlight Suites Hot Knockout bracket have been provided through the second round, and the semifinals features Stacie Houston against Jenna Logan. Both of these two have passively campaigned for votes, with Houston asking to “vote for Stacemiah”, and Logan’s pitch of “a vote for Jenna is a vote for love!”, in honor of her sponsor, Pink Love. It should be interesting to see the split within Cassadaigua, and probably in the long run, the foreign fans will determine how that one goes. The other bracket has Lexi Patterson against Thea Alvarez. I think their might be an “upset” brewing there.

OFFICIAL NSSCRA STATEMENT

by Dave Greene, Spokesperson

There are a couple things that we need to address a governing body for the prestigious racing association that we have created. There has been some criticism about allowing 73-year old Freddie Nielson drive as the open charter for Hampton Island in the recently completed Golden Bear 400. In order to be a part of a field, a driver must be able to show that he can maintain a minimum speed at the track, and Nielson was able to do that. Therefore, we licensed him for the event. There may have been some uneasiness about our decision to do that, but Nielson had done what was required of him, and since he was a champion in his own country on multiple occasions, including winning on the very track he would compete in, it would have been discriminatory for us to not license him. We trust that the proper Hampton Island officials will evaluate what happened in the Golden Bear 400 concerning their open charter driver, and that they will make the right decision for their second race, or any future race, in which they use the open charter.

Secondly, you may have heard the announcement that drivers from Newark Aristocracy are pulling their drivers from any future races. We wish them well, and realize that it was unfortunate for them that they did not have the level of success that we have seen from other first time nations this season, most notably, Hapilopper and Valentine Z. This departure left an available charter which we have given to James McCurty. Mr. McCurty has been an active driver now for two seasons, and has always had the need to qualify in. More often then not, he has been successful in doing so.

Finally, and I want to make sure everyone reads this section. There were discussions between us and the people at Vilita and Turori Motorsports about creating a new opportunity for an open charter driver. With McCurty now getting a charter, there would be no major standout driver from those needing to qualify in. Some have been better then others, but instead of having five of them now have to qualify in, we are only going to have four spots to qualify into. In doing this, we will create a second spot for an open charter driver. That’s right, you heard that correctly. Every race will have TWO open charter drivers.

We will start having two open charter drivers for the upcoming VannAir Blue Coast 400 in Vangaziland. These open charter drivers for the next race will be Lotara Novorali, from Vilita and Turori, who had made a request, and Ashley Matthews, from Newmanistan, who will make her season debut in the #59. We would like to remind all participating nations that they are free to request an open charter spot, one that just became a lot more available.

NYSTROM APOLOGIZES FOR SHARPE CRASH

by Caitlin Rushden

STAFFORD CITY - Northwesterosi race fans are being satisfied with national entry Direwolf Auto Team's recent qualifications into NSSCRA (Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association) races. Sure, the change was caused in part by the granting of charters to faster unchartered drivers, but the team is still happy to take what they can have. "Compared to other teams, Direwolf is still in its infancy. We're still at the stage where we need to grow as a team. The talent is there, so we know that we are capable of succeeding", driver Paul Nystrom told the Inquisitor.

Nystrom was, for the second time this season, caught in an incident that took a driver for a bigger team out of the race. Near the end of the Golden Bear 400 at the Stafford City Speedway in Hampton Island, Nystrom's #21 Argoil Chadwick made contact with the #4 Spacebook Blaze of Team Cassadaigua's Meghan Sharpe, who was a lap ahead; the two spun each other out and failed to finish the race. "Once again I apologize for being caught in another driver's path", said Nystrom. "I simply wasn't able to move out of the way in time. It's all on me. I hope Meghan rebounds on our next outing, and I hope I do, too. [Teammate Liuyong] Xu and I, we've been getting our chances to get in races now, we must not waste them." "I just hope I can return to the form I had two seasons ago", added Xu, who drives the #99 Prime Insurance Chadwick.
