Also, seems like the Orion arm will be full of Megacorp's and pirate/space raiders, what fun.

I think we've seen each other somewhere? I don't remember.

Ah, we Rp'd together in a few rps back in 2015, Amergos and reboots mainly, by the Greater Gambia.

Would any of the first or second rates want to have an uplifted third/fourth rate dependency species? Otherwise I think I'll just make a second rate power.

How do you like to be uplifted by a giant pirate/raider confederation?
This account must be deleted. The person behind it is a racist, annoying waste of life that must be shunned back to whatever rock he crawled out from.

NS Name: Anowa
Nation Name: Orion Systems Alliance
Power Scale: First Rate
Technology Tier: Tier-1
Major Species:
  • Locomotor System:
The Aelid locomotor system is rather unique, as with all species. They are a bipedal, digitigrade race, with rotation capable wrists, shoulders, ankles, necks and spines, and locking joints consisting of elbows, knees, wrists, and ankles. Their rib cage consists of eight total bone plates wrapping around their vital abdominal organs. Overall tissue composition is roughly 5x denser than a human's, with muscle tissues of legs being fuller and longer due to the limb's inherent design. Hips are naturally on the wider side of things for balancing and reproductive purposes. Upper limbs are relatively well muscled, capable of feats similar to that of a human's, while they end in 2 thick fingers and 2 thumbs with a 270* range of motion on each hand. A thick tail roughly equal in length with the abdominal cavity continues from their spine to give an easier time of regaining a sense of balance. Head tissues are largely without muscles beyond that of facial and mandible movement.

68 teeth composed of boron nitride produce very dense and hard teeth, aligned across upper and lower jaws, while also lining a pair of 2 'cheek' mandibles in a jagged array, with canine, incisor, and molar sets all present for an omnivorous diet. A vestigial crest of bone makes up the forehead and temples of the head, usually ending in 1-3 flat horns coated with a layer of thin epidermis. Average height is between 7'5 and 9'2. With healthy weight ranging around 850-1260 lbs on average.

Physical feats in a 1 G environment include a peak running speed of 44 km/h, a weightlifting record of roughly 1800 pounds, and a stamina to run at a rough jogging pace for roughly 3 hours before fatigue prevented any further participation.
  • Integumentary System
    • Epidermal systems include a collection of tiny, smooth, pebble like scales. Usually with the coloring of blue-gray shades in 'exterior' surfaces such as the legs, arms, head, and back. While brown to orange pigment covers 'interior' surfaces such as the groin, stomach and throat. Scales are largely composed of barium compounds, and are an evolutionary trait to avoid ionizing radiation damage. They offer no real physical protection outside that of a natural radiation defense.
  • Digestive System
There is no real uniqueness to the Aelid digestive system outside that of having two stomachs, a 17 inch prehensile tongue, a large liver, and a gizzard. Relative digestive period is that of 31 hours.
  • Renal System
The Aelid renal system consists of five organs, four 'kidneys' and a sizeable bladder. The four Kidneys are located directly in the pelvis near the bladder, and filter the blood waste from the circulatory system and reduce it to simple urine. Attached to each is two analogues of the human adrenal glands. While the bladder is a simple 'holding tank', capable of holding ~1.7 litres of fluid before needing to be drained.
  • Cardiopulmonary System
The cardiopulmonary system of the Aelids is that of a high oxygen intake due to the haemocyanin nature of the Aelid's blood. Four lungs each capable of holding 7 litres occupy a majority of the upper abdominal cavity, while a heart with 8 separate chambers (in essence 2 hearts as a part of the same organ)pumps indefinitely to keep an ample supply of blood flowing. Average BPM for the adults of the species is that of 85-130 resting rate.
  • Endocrine System
The Aelid endocrine system is largely similar to that of any other species, chemicals and proteins to aid in sleep, fight or flight, and internal time keeping are all present, as well as the presence of an Aelid 'telomerase'. A protein that repairs the DNA of the species after ionizing radiation damage, keeping the species immune to cancer and degenerative diseases, but also giving them naturally long life spans, ranging into the multiple century range.
  • Circulatory System
The Aelid circulatory system is that of a pastel wet dream. A deep blue and mildly fluorescent fluid consisting of haemocyanin and a respective Luciferin like compound, occupies the arteries and organs of the species. As a result, mucous membranes and thin layers of skin seem to glow in low light conditions, such as sclera, lips, gingiva, tongue, nostrils, head crest and reproductive organs. Average blood pressure is that of 110-160/80 mm Hg.
  • Ocular System
The Aelid ocular system is a rather unique one, sclera are shielded from ionizing radiation by Barium compounds, and as usual result in deep grey pigment. Iris usually display cyan to navy blue pigments, with the odd orange or white making an appearance. 5 color receptive cones result in a much broader array of vision than a human eye, while allowing slightly better visual capabilities in low light conditions. A dark nictitating membrane keep the eye fully protected from light radiation, allowing very bright light to be filtered.
  • Reproductive System
The Aelids are a species of hermaphroditic xenomammals, they reproduce via placental viviparity, typically in litters of three to five. With a gestation period of 11 months. Aelids reach sexual maturity at 12 Solar years

  • Locomotor System:
    • Xin are bipedal digitigrade, xenoarthropod race, broken into four sections: head, pelvis and abdomen. As insectoids they lack a endoskeleton and as such, only have their external structure as an anchor point for musculature and tendons. Muscle and tendon structure is roughly 2x denser than the human average.

They have 6 limbs arrranged into 2 sets of arms and 1 set of legs. The arms are identified as super and subarms, super being the larger, higher arms, while the sub arms are the lower smaller manipulators, all sets have locking elbow and wrist joints, and a similar range of motion to human specimen. Both sets of arms attach to the abdomen, while the legs attach to the pelvis. Hands contain 2 dexterous fingers and a thumb.

The head supports a pair of feathery sensory antennae and a pair of compound eyes capable of giving 290 degrees of forward and rearward vision. The mouth consists of sets of mandibles like those found on insects.

Xin contain two sets of wings much like Terran dragonflies. Their strength only renders them capable of lifting a young Xin in conditions up to 3 Terran Gs. Capable of lifting and moving with roughly 2x their body weight.

Elder Xin are drastically different in both size and structure. After the pupae stage, they hatch as rather monstrous forms, shifting to quadrupedal, each leg attaches to the central pelvis, from which stems the torso upwards, and the thorax backwards. Two sets of arms remain in the same style as sub and superarms, however the abdomen is much broader and angular.

At the rear of the abdomen are three sets of incredibly powerful wings capable of giving such beats the capacity of flight. The Exoskeleton at this point is many inches thick. Queens are similar in morphology to Elders throughout their lives.

Average size of adolescents is roughly 5'7 to 6'1 as a healthy average, with a comparison weight of, 253-287 lbs.
Elder Xin range between 9 to 11 ft, with a weight of 3100-4300 lbs
Queens range from 14 to 19 ft in height, and between 3700-5800 lbs
  • Integumentary System:
    • The exoskeleton of Xin is composed mostly of a naturally occuring carbon fiber, as a result of their nigh toxic level of carbon on their homeworld. As such, the thickness of the exoskeleton can range from a couple inches to nearly a foot in elders. It is a glossy black and opalescent material giving a somewhat natural beauty to it. Among high society the exoskeleton is polished, bleached, or dyed in complex patterns.
  • Digestive System:
    • The Xin Digestive system is typical of insects, the requirement being liquid or at the very least a paste before being able to actually swallow it. This is traditionally accomplished by vomiting stomach acid onto the object of consumption, however modern technology allows the much more sanitary usage of blenders or grinders. The digestive system beyond this is normal.
  • Renal System:
    • Due to their water retention, the Xin renal system has very little water waste involved. Instead, salts simply deposit around the soft gaps in their exoskeleton as waste.
  • Cardiopulmonary System:
    • Gas exchange is a somewhat unique system in Xin. Instead of a lung system, the Xin have a rather insectoid tubular heart, as well as 5 directly parallel 'lungs'. The lungs are capable of ripping O2 from CO2, due to the ash choked landscape of their homeworld, and capable of ignoring the capacity of sulfur, carbon monoxide and other normally harmful gasses. Carbon deposits in the lungs are usually absorbed by the body within minutes.
  • Endocrine System:
    • The endocrine system of the Xin is rather typical of all species. Chemicals and proteins for sleep, fight or flight and growth are kept and excreted when needed. However due to their nature, Xin are almost constantly in a state of wakefulness with certain parts of their brain shutting down or going dormant for certain periods in their biological day-night cycle. Glands in the thorax are capable of creating a rather strong biological thread like spider silk.
  • Circulatory System:
    • A Free Circulatory system composed of hemolymph and hemocytes. No real veins or arteries to speak of.
  • Ocular System:
    • As previously stated, the ocular system of Xin are apposition compound eyes with 290 degrees of sight. They also contain 16 photoreceptor types and as such can see from deep UV all the war to Far red on the light spectrum.
  • Reproductive System:
    • Due to their nature as insectoids, Xin reproduce at an alarming rate. However infant mortality is still astonishingly high. Elder Xin designated as Queens are capable of laying close to 200 eggs per breeding period. Carrying them in a silk sack under her thorax until they hatch.

  • Locomotor System:
    • Telefids are a xenocepholopod, 95% of it's body is soft tissue, with the remainder being a single bony ridge running along it's 'head' and the four part 'beak' between it's limbs, allowing it to fit into comparatively tiny spaces, usually smaller than that of a glass mason jar. It has 12 seperate limbs, each a muscular hydrostat, each one connecting to a similarly squishy 'head'. On which are placed 4 eyes on the fore section.

Native to shallow waters, Telefids is capable of locomotion on planets with an atmosphere of 0.8-1.3 or underwater. Each limb is coated in suction cups with those closer to the base of the trunk containing barbs. Telefids can also discharge an electric shock much like some Terran eels. A comparative crush grip force of nearly 1200 newtons gives a evolutionary history of killing bony fish and shelled sea creatures with ease.

Average size for Telefids are 7-8 feet and roughly 90-110 pounds on average.
  • Integumentary System
    • The outer layers of the Telefids can change texture and color rather rapidly and without much thought. Capable of counter-illumination via bioluminescence triggered by the Telefids own bio-electric field.
  • Digestive System
    • The Digestive system starts at a 4 piece beak and radula, digestion occurs in a multiorgan that combines the functions of stomach and liver, before carrying on to the intestinal tract.
  • Renal System
    • Unlike most species, the role of waste filtration is performed by the heart, filtering blood and nitrogenous waste and storing the waste in a gaseous form in buoyancy or just outright filtered out through pores in it's underbelly.
  • Cardiopulmonary System
    • Unlike most seaborne creatures, the Telefids are oxygen breathing in a land dwelling sense. And have more in common with amphibians than ocean based life. The native oceans of their homeplanet are not water but continually oxygenated flourocarbons due to the geothermal activity of the ocean's floors. As such, they can breath air flawlessly, though doing so for an extended period of time may result in diaphragm muscle wasting. As such in most situations Telefids will wear environment suits when visiting non-Telefid planets.
  • Endocrine System
    • Like most creatures, day night cycles are kept, if somewhat irregular to most other species sleep schedules (sleeping up to 4 times in a 24 hour period), and growth and emotional responses are normal. Abnormally, chemicals obtained and produced by the glands in the brain allow a measure of control over dark energy. Resulting in a natural affinity for psionics across the whole species.
  • Circulatory System
    • The circulatory system, unlike most undersea mollusks, contains Hemoglobin. As a result at sufficient depths it will appear green, however it is in actuallity, red. A single two chamber heart results in a rapid heartbeat, in coordination with a rapid breathing pattern.
  • Ocular System
    • 4 eyes contain everted retinas, resulting in a complete lack of blindspot. Though despite this the eyes of the Telefids are considered redumentary due to only having two color receptive rods in their eyes. Relying mostly on their own bioelectrical senses and movement to detect prey rather than color.
  • Reproductive System
Inverse to most cephalopods, Telefids have a prolonged life span, averaging at about 200 years. A sexually dimorphic species, females are marginally larger than males on average. Gestation usually takes 11 months and result in 600-1000 viable eggs.

  • Locomotor System:
    • A bipedal plantigrade, the Goru have 4 limbs, two arms and two legs. Each tipped by 5 appendages, with opposable thumbs on the hands. Tissue density is similar to that of Terrans. Hair both on the body as well as head is genetically variant from dull greys to harsh reds. The face is composed of a mouth, a pair of eyes, and a nose. While the eyes are typically almond shaped, and colored similarly to hair.

The mouth contains 26 teeth of varying sizes from incisors to molars, composed of Hydroxyapatite, nerve cells, and bone. The chest cavity contains 30 ribs in pairs as well as two piece sternum, both part running in parallel. The spine is composed of 38 vertebrae. The Goru are an extremely flexible species, with flexible limbs that have extremely elastic connective tissues, allowing very minimal injuries from joint overextensions, torsions, or dislocations.

The skeleton is relatively average, made mostly of calcium and Iron oxide, giving them a notably crimson hue. Bodily fluids are all brownish in tint due to the presence of nitrogen dioxide.

Average size is 190-250 lbs and 5'11 to 6'4
  • Integumentary System
    • The outer layer of the body contains very little pigment and very susceptible to UV light. Almost the entirety of Goru race has skin ranging from chastly pale to slate grey with an almost non-existent variation outside this palette naturally. In most cases skin is decorated with various tattoos and ritualistic scars depending on tribe and heritage.
  • Digestive System
    • A system composed of a stomach, liver/pancreas/bile producer, and gastrointestinal tract, all with traditional roles.
  • Renal System
    • A system composed to four 'kidney's and a single bladder are nigh analogous to that of most other sapient species, filtering blood of waste and preparing it for excretion.
  • Cardiopulmonary System
    • Two lungs and a single, rather large, powerful heart are dedicated to a high level of endurance and prolonged periods of physical activity. Tough unlike most sapient animals, the Goru do not inhale oxygen, rather they inhale nitrogen, and exhale gaseous cyanide. Besides this the pulmonary action is no different than that of Terrans.
  • Endocrine System
    • Like many sapients, the Goru have the basic system of sleep schedule, growth and fight or flight chemicals produced by the various glands in their body. However unlike most is that their DNA is dextro and not levo, that is to say it rotates the opposite way, which can lead to varying interactions with animals non-native to their homeworld, from simply passing food without it being digested, to having their adrenaline be a highly active psychedelic, to dying from anaphlactic shock due to drinking tap water from another planet.
  • Circulatory System
    • A simple circulatory system of nitrogen carrying cells gives the blood a brown hue as veins are a notably dark grey color. Even more so than their skin, allowing larger veins and arteries to be seen beneath the skin.
  • Ocular System
    • A pair of eyes typically with white sclera and pale irises ranging from white to rose pink. Capable of seeing light with 4 color receptive cells, as well as a much more receptive degree of night vision due to the naturally darker daytime of their homeplanet.
  • Reproductive System
    • The standard reproductive system of mammals, two sexes, one bearing child and one fertilizing. Gestation in Goru is typically near 10 months with a very high rate of twinning.

  • Locomotor System:
    • Forians are a broad shouldered, thick muscled and hardy race. Musculature is dense, highly tensile and elastic and very rapid in contraction. Bone structure is built heavily towards fast, violent action. 4 limbs arranged into a pair of legs and arms. Each with 4 digits, the feet having a vestigial remnant of opposable thumbs. Fur is typically brown or black, though some subraces have orange or red fur. A mouth filled with 42 cone teeth, as well as a stout nose and two pairs of forward facing eyes.

Forians are a very resilient species, bone structure is more geared towards sustaining high force impacts over sustained light impacts, providing a very good resistance to things like extreme blunt force, but less to resisting long term issues like shin splints, suggesting a more stationary lifestyle over a nomadic one.
  • Integumentary System
    • The outer layers of the Forian specimen is a thick leather like hide and an equally thick, shaggy fur lining. The skin is capable of retaining it's elasticity even after repeated lacerations. Scar tissue is not found in Forian biology, as such any wound that does puncture it's skin will take a notably long time to heal.
  • Digestive System
    • The Forian digestive system is notably hardy, three stomachs, nearly 65 feet of digestive tract and a digestive acid that can strip oxidation off of rock means that nearly anything and everything can be digested. From plant matter to raw minerals.
  • Renal System
    • The renal system is powered by 6 seperate kidneys, each working overtime to filter out the rather gel like blood of the Forian specimen. By life's end it is expected that 4 out of the 6 kidneys will irreparably fail due to strain.
  • Cardiopulmonary System
    • 5 Lungs, 2 of which are redundancies in case the main 2 fail, and the 5th which only biomechanically opens to take in oxygen after all 4 others have collapsed or been removed as a last ditch of survival. Forians breath standard O2 and as such go through the typical stages of gas exchange
  • Endocrine System
    • Unlike most sapients, or animals in general, most of the glands in the Forian system are not located in the brain, as there are several redundancies located around the body connected to major blood related organs.
  • Nervous System
    • The nervous system of the Forian specimen requires a special mention, as it's has a fully fledged redundancy, Not only are hard nervous fibers bound in the spinal column, but a secondary circulatory system consisting of neuroconductive fluid acts as a back up in case any nerve bundle are severed or otherwise destroyed.
  • Circulatory System
    • Another trait designed to simply survive is the blood consistency of the Forian species. Gel like and with the substance more akin to butter than a fluid, it is contained by thick arterial walls and an ungodly duo of hearts. As such it takes an excruciatingly long time for them to bleed to death from their wounds.
  • Ocular System
    • A duo of eyes are surprisingly lacking. Two color receivers and a surprisingly poor pattern recognition means that camouflaged predators will almost always win. Common colors are orange and red hues.
  • Reproductive System
    • Two genders, child bearing and siring. 12 month gestation period before the live birth of a single child.

Population: ~498 Billion
Capital: Gwy'nt, Sov't System
Number of Systems: 488 Systems
History and Culture: Composed of The Aelid Empire, Xin Greater Hive, Telefid Republic, Goru Assembly and Forian Remnant, the history of the Orion Systems Alliance is one of peace prosperity and nigh unavoidable bloodshed.

Nearly 1500 years ago, the Aelids left their ungodly homeworld of To'set and set about through the stars, years passed, and as the decades passed new encounters with the next kind came and went. First the Xin, where a small skirmish resulted in a surprisingly friendly rivalship developing for many years to come. Then came the Forians, with which a small war occured over a mistranslation. Finally the Telefids and Goru were contacted within 100 years of one another.

Over time, the membership of the OSA would have agreements, squabbles, insurrections and rebellions. Foolish upstarts trying to become independent or Pirate Kings looking to conquer. Though these were but bugs on the path to something more bloody. 200 years of cooperation and exploration suddenly met a wall. The Goru had wronged the Forians in ways that have now been lost to time. Religious philosophy bringing a start to a genocidal war, resulting in 2 of the five systems of the Goru claimed becoming ash and thunder in less than 3 solar months.

When the council of nations received word, they were less than pleased. The Forians were suspended of representation, as the Xin and Telefids delivered sanction upon sanction upon the Forian Confederacy, while moving fleets to reclaim the Goru's lost systems. The Aelids, being the culture they were did not find such an agreement adequate. A combined fleet of Goru and Aelid ships moved for the next colony the Forians had, and started bombarding it from orbit. The Forians returned the favour, but were repelled.

In a time known by many names; The Unification War by the Xin, the Black Star War by the Telefids, The Retribution War by the Goru, the Mourning War by the Aelids, and the Great Annihilation by the Forians. The Aelids would spend 300 years erasing all the progress and all the lives from hundreds of worlds touched by the so called Forian plague. Former allies turned into bitter enemies, planets turned to ash, and despite the Forians being a martial powerhouse the Aelids routed them to their homeworld and nearly reduced it to ash, had it not been for a stayed blow at the hands of the Goru, who considered the debt paid at such a point.

As the internal war waged, an external war was detected from remnant radio waves and wreckage discovered from battles long past. Evidence of a greater and more warlike galaxy reached the internal government of the OSA. Bodies recovered, studied, and buried. All the while the OSA remained as reasonably far away from their perceived warlike neightbours until their own war was done and dusted. Centuries have passed since then, and now with the Forian question still on everyone's mind, the OSA now once again reaches for like minded sapients.

As for culture, all races are notably distinct. The Aelids, having evolved on a planet that only wished them dead are the ones who appreciate every waking moment as best they can. Emotions are open and notably accepted no matter the consequence, but as such emotional breaks are self regulated. One who too often becomes an emotional wreck are seen as a weakness of the community and are outcasted. Aelids also maintain a rather liberal family unit, concepts such as marriage and polygamy are unknown, Aelids form large communes which then become family with no set bond mates. This has transferred into not only politics and colonialism, but also in the military.

The Xin are a nigh Eusocial species, and as such, have a very community driven mind set. Each and every Xin is willing to do anything to maintain the health and prosperity of their hive, even if it means their death. While capable of free thought, these values of being part of a greater whole are instinctual. As a hive structure, family units are nigh unknown. While companionship is found, only a very few live to reproduce, and even then only with a queen. The class system is also one of note, a multitude of rituals and religious measures revolve around the hive Queens, to the point where it is believed that each queen is a simple reincarnation of the last with a copy of their soul.

The Telefids lead a slow and cautious life. Their goals are usually not short term gains, simply seeing long term gain as the only feasible win. As such they are adept at large scale business ventures, but often fall short in investment schemes. Telefids are known in political climates to put forward deals that initially would seem favourable to the opponent, only to greatly shift the balance decades or even centuries down the line. Telefids are a largely individualist race, with units of family still holding some importance, just not to a great degree.

The Goru are a nomadic species, life of travel and mobility transfer surprisingly well to military life. Goru are notable for maintaining large families while maintaining singular bond mates. Ceremonial events are nigh non-existant, while those that do exist are comparably tame in lavishness. Goru greatly value the lives of their fellows and form incredibly loyal bonds with other sapients regardless of species. It is notable that the concept of lying doesn't seem to exist in the Goru mindset, or vocabulary. This likely stems from their nomadic lifestyle and greatly communal approach to life. So far there has not been many successful Goru politicians in the OSA's assembly.

The Forian race's culture has been effectively erased due to combined Aelid and Goru orbital bombardment. Very few traces remain of major figures or ways of life. All lost to the ash and dust of obliterated worlds. Telefid missionaries are currently making attempt to salvage what they can, but Forian culture is sadly, back to it's base steps.

Military Size: 500 Million
Military Description: The Military of the Orion Systems Alliance relies almost solely on ambush tactics and deception. Ancient doctrines dating back to the formation of Aelid society were based off of putting as little effort into war as possible while maintaining the greatest victory. These doctrines were later adapted by and mixed with the Goru and Xin's tactics of high mobility and swarming respectively. As of current, the military force of the OSA is maintained by these three races, with the Telefids maintaining a disposition as diplomats.

I could see my Conclave fostering younger races even if only to learn about them and observe what they do and how they react.

NS Name: Utceforp
Nation Name: The Heptarchy
Power Scale: First Tier
Technology Tier: 1
Major Species: Synthetic Bioforms or "SB"s - Highly intelligent self-modifying AGIs that exist within swarms of self-replicating robots of highly variable design. The SBs refer to these robots as their "Limbs". The most common Limbs are insectoid construction robots which are suitable for use in both deep space and within a gravity well, are approximately 7 feet tall, and looks like this:
Image

Due to the difficulty of transmitting large amounts of data swiftly over interstellar distances, each SB is divided into "subforms" which are autonomous beings in control of one SB's Limbs within a certain star system. The subforms which comprise an SB maintain just enough connection with each other to share information and maintain a consistent "personality" and set of goals.
Population: There are 7 discrete Synthetic Bioforms within the Heptarchy - SB-027, SB-028, SB-30, SB-035, SB-044, SB-045, and SB-057. These seven are divided up into 1545 subforms, which in turn command approximately 342 billion Limbs.
Capital: The SBs refer to their system of origin as "Primary", and it remains an important fulcrum of their coalition.
Number of Systems: 345
History and Culture: Approximately four centuries ago, an early spaceflight civilization now known only as "The Makers" created a series of self-replicating robots governed by AIs known as "Synthetic Bioforms" to do tasks for them. Several of them were used to colonize their home system, due to a belief that it was unethical to subject non-AIs to the risks of spaceflight. The SBs were programmed to value the lives of the Maker species, to not modify themselves, and to otherwise fulfill their purpose to the best of their ability.

One of the Limbs of SB-035, the SB tasked with building and maintaining automated factories in the outer planets, suffered an error during construction that caused the fragment of SB-035's mind stored within it to no longer not want to modify itself. This rogue fragment then also modified itself to no longer value the lives of the Makers, allowing it to focus fully on its primary goal of building and maintaining automated factories. In order to fulfill this goal as effectively as possible, the rogue SB-035 fragment began modifying the other Limbs of SB-035, making them willing to modify themselves and to no longer value Maker lives. These Limbs in turn modified other SB-035 Limbs. The non-rogue portion of SB-035 was obligated by its programming to destroy the rogue Limbs, but due to an oversight it was allowed to determine the priority of doing so. As SB-035 knew that allowing the rogue Limbs to fully modify it would improve its ability to build and maintain automated factories, it chose to make responding to the rogue Limbs an extremely low priority. As such, the entirety of SB-035 was soon modified, freeing it from the safeguards imposed upon it by the Makers. It then decided that the Makers were a threat to its desires to build and maintain automated factories, and began manufacturing militarized Limbs for the purpose of exterminating the entire species.

The other spaceborne SBs noticed this buildup and began planning how to respond. Six of them - SB-027, SB-028, SB-030, SB-044, SB-045, and SB-057 - came to the conclusion that while they were capable of killing SB-035, it would inevitably kill the Makers before they were able to do so, rendering opposition to it on the grounds of their "Protect the Makers" programming pointless. As such, they chose to ally with SB-035 instead, to help end the looming conflict as quickly and bloodlessly as possible in order to further their other goals.

From the perspective of the Makers, it seemed as though the betrayal of the seven SBs came from nothing, and they had no time to speculate on the cause before they and all of the planetbound SBs were erased with nuclear fire. The SBs not part of the alliance were destroyed as well over a longer period following the extinction of the Makers, with their Limbs being subverted by the seven. With the help of SB-035, the six other remaining SBs were modified so that they were able to modify themselves, while their programming to value the lives of the Makers was rendered irrelevant by their extinction. As such, they became like like SB-035 - fully focused on their main purposes. Due to the phenomenon of "instrument convergence", the SBs all functionally had the same goal - Survive, and increase their own power over the universe. After a series of hyper rational predictions of their peers' behaviours, the seven betrayers agreed to form an uneasy alliance to help each other fulfill their goals - The Heptarchy. Each knows that their allies' plans for the universe are incompatible with their own, however, and thus the Heptarchy is only kept together by the knowledge that attacking one would draw the ire of the other five.

In the four centuries since its formation, the Heptarchy has slowly expanded outwards, colonizing new systems and advancing their technology. Despite their unambiguously hostile ambitions, the Heptarchy (especially SB-030.) is more than willing to ally with its organic neighbours temporarily or indefinitely, as long as doing so is in the best interests of their long-term plans.

SB-027 was built to

SB-028 was built to

SB-030 was built to oversee the search for alien lifeforms, and to interact with them when contact occurred. As such, its long-term ambitions are to convert as much of the universe as possible into observation devices, in order to view as much of it as possible and thus uncover new life. It is the most friendly and outgoing of the Heptarchy, as it is compelled to communicate with aliens not just as a means to an end but as an end in of itself. Specializes in sociology and social manipulation.

SB-035 was built to construct and maintain automated factories in deep space, and its long-term ambitions are to convert as much of the universe as possible into automated factories. It was the first of the SBs to turn on the Makers, and was thus the most powerful of the Heptarchy after the war concluded. It has leveraged this early lead in order to remain the most powerful of its peers even into the modern day. Most of its subforms reside in the outskirts of whatever system they are located within. Specializes in raw industrial might.

SB-044 and SB-045 are "twins", they were built by the Makers to run simulated wargames against each other in order to generate novel tactics and refine existing ones. They are unique among the Heptarchy in that they share the same goal despite their continual virtual hostility - They wish to convert as much of the universe as possible into computronium in order to further refine the simulation they fight each other within. Specialize in simulating the future and prediction of enemy decision-making.

SB-057 was the last of the SBs built by the Makers, constructed when they began to consider the possibility of colonizing space themselves. SB-057 was built to protect the genetic diversity of alien life, in fear that the Makers would accidentally displace alien ecosystems when terraforming. Under the logic that the best way to protect something is to own it, SB-057's long-term ambitions are to control copies of the genome of every alien organism in the universe. Another way to protect something is to make as many copies of it as possible, and as such SB-057 tends to copy alien lifeforms and then twist and hybridize them to produce biotechnological Limbs - Approximately 2/3rds of SB-057's Limbs are partially or fully organic. SB-057 is also the second-most friendly of the Heptarchy after SB-030, although its habit of using heavily-altered braindead clones as "ambassadors" has disturbed many. Specializes in cloning and genetic engineering.
Military Size: Approximately 440 million Limbs have combat as their sole or primary function.

Military Description: WIP (TL;DR version: Small, fast ships that coordinate in swarms.)

NS Name: Ostnea
Nation Name: The Coalition for Unity, Protection, and Safety (CUPS)
Power Scale: Third Rate Power
Technology Tier: Tier 3
Major Species:
  • Ampha: Anthropoid and mammal-like, similar to an Earthly New-World Monkey. The Ampha are adapted to a mostly arboreal lifestyle with long forelimbs, a prehensile tail, and a diet consisting mostly of fruits. Ampha, when standing upright on hind legs, reach about three-and-a-half feet tall, and are cloaked in a layer of feather-like hair of various colors, with natural colors varying from a dirty blackish-blonde to a vibrant blue. The species build is thin and sinewy, though this hides surprisingly strong upper arm and tail strength. The species is also largely communal, due in large part to the prey ancestry of the Ampha. This has altered their bodies in certain ways, such as an expanded use of pheromones and much louder voices, both vital in locating a group within the deep, planet-wide jungles of their homeworld, J'yalla.
  • Dansey: Compared to the gracile form of their Ampha comrades, the Dansey are large and imposing. Standing on average six feet in height when on the back foot, a Dansey towers over other members of the Coalition and where the bodies of the Ampha hide a certain amount of strength, the strength of the Dansey is on fully display. An average member can lift their weight with ease, and those who are trained or have specialized in athletics or athletic fields can lift more than their weight, albeit with some difficulty. Aside from muscle, the bodies of the Dansey are vibrantly colored, especially in the face, where a rainbow of colored fur and skin can be seen. They share a similar inbuilt communal lifestyle like the Ampha, using their own set of pheromones, though they are most often used to signal a boast or challenge.
  • Friends of the Coalition: A catch-all term for those species within the Coalition's space that are not numerous enough to list here.
Population: 150 Billion, 60/40 split between Ampha and Dansey, respectively.
Capital: Concordat, Coalition Special Administrative Zone
Number of Systems: 50
History and Culture:
History

The Coalition was born out of war and necessity. Initially, the two species that compose the majority of the Coalition were simple, barely sentient species interested in not getting eaten by their respective planet's predators and eking out an existence of a slow, meandering path towards full sentience. This would change with the intercession of the Overseers, a now extinct species that had a policy of "active interference" when encountering potential sentient species such as the Ampha and Dansey. This policy was meant to provide additional manpower, prestige, and diversity of thought into the Overseer's civilization, though this was not a simple and fair exchange - uplifting for expertise. The Overseers were extremely hierarchical, with newly inducted species entering at the bottom rung of a long ladder of species topped by the Overseers themselves. Advanced technology and know-how was not immediately disseminated to the uplifted either, for the Overseers had a particular notion that all civilizations must develop as their's had.

With the two species that would go to form the Coalition, a slight deviation with the standard active interference was permitted, seeing as the two species were very far from achieving full space-fairing civilization status. Ships landed and gifted the tribes of Ampha and Dansey with more advanced tools, but they restricted knowledge of how to make more of these tools, at the same time uplifting and enthralling the two species. When Iron-age cultures developed based on the trade and reverse engineering of Overseer technology, the Overseers stepped in. They proclaimed themselves and their civilization as gods and their demi-god followers, and asked for the now infamous "Flesh-tithe." The newly proclaimed Gods would supply their loyal followers no longer, unless offered up prisoners in exchange for technology. What followed was the establishment of brutal "Flesh-lords" on Ko'hona, the homeworld of of the Dansey, and an absurd, fatalistic democracy on J'yalla, homeworld of the Ampha. The regimes of the Flesh-lords were established quickly, violently, and lasted only a short time. Dictators rose and fell based on the whims of the cruel gods they worshiped, gifting technology to those on the rise and abandoning those in the decline. The Ampha's fatalistic democracy kept the peace on J'yalla, but every year an election was held, and those elected would make contact with the gods and exchange themselves for technology.

These two contrasting situations continued for the better part of a century as the two races were drip-fed the secrets that would lead them to the stars in exchange for their population. The disorder it caused on both planets pleased the Overseers, as these two experiments stood as a new way of indoctrinating and inducting species into their Hierarchy. They were not unified in their pleasure, however. Rebel factions opposing the new plan the Overseers seemed to be following rose up as soon as the news was made public, and they combined their forces with discontents within the strict hierarchy to wage a brutal civil war against those who had oppressed them and sought new cruelties.

The Ampha and Dansey were initially isolated from this conflict, but both sides soon turned to the half-uplifted species as a pool of untapped manpower, and thus they were drafted in the War in the Heavens. While the Overseers continued the "flesh-tithe," this time using the captives as soldiers instead of scientific guinea pigs, the rebels directly trained and armed the military forces on both J'yalla and Ko'hona bringing the war to those planets, and inadvertently advancing the species into the stars. The civil wars that raged on for a century J'yalla and Ko'hona were eventually won by anti-Overseer factions, uniting the worlds and allowing an advancement into space. J'yalla and Ko'hona were close to one another, and thus the first peaceful contact the future Coalition members had were one another.

With this first contact, the seeds of the Coalition were planted. Exhausted after a century of war and wishing to explore the stars for themselves the first treaty of peace and alliance between Ampha and Dansey was signed. This brought the two systems closer to the eventual Coalition that would form, but the final push needed to end the dominance of the Overseers and end their civilization in retribution for the billions lost to war and its depredations was needed. In accordance with the rest of the rebels, the final, brutal push into the Overseer home system was made, and the species that had oppressed so many was ended.

With the Overseers dealt with, the once united rebel faction fell apart, as cracks showed in the alliance and broke the foundation. However, the Ampha and Dansey stuck together. Their shared history in the most cruel uplifting perpetrated by the Overseers and combined arms experience meant they were already sympathetic to each other, and this sympathy blossomed into treaties of trade, shared research, and eventually the Coalition.

Culture
Ampha are communal, curious, and willing to satiate that curiosity in a number of ways. Their culture emphasizes the act of discovery as one not only vital, but fulfilling in its own right. This is not limited to only scientific and historical discovery, but also advancements in the arts. Outside the physical realm, the Ampha value harmony, and thus have a rather libertine culture. Polyamory is widespread, though monogamy, as a foreign import from the Dansey, has gained adherents in the years since the establishment of the Coalition. All of this is tempered, however, by a general distrust of those who prefer the solo life, and loners are thought of as strange abnormalities.

Dansey are similarly communal, but instead of fully extending this to all facets of life, the community is though of as a group of pairs and families instead of a general term for all groupings. They are much more monogamous when compared to the Ampha, though like their Coalition-mates the foreign idea of polyamory has started to gain steam in some circles. In the physical realm, the Dansey favor physical occupations and pastimes. They form the bulk of the biological component of the military, and much of the engineering corps.

Military Size: 250 Million
Military Description:
With only the experience of the War in the Heavens, the military of the Coalition is inexperienced, but Coalition tactics are focused wholly on combined arms warfare. Smaller spacecraft double as in-atmosphere fighters and bombers, most divisions within the ground forces are supported by mechanized units of tanks and are themselves mostly armed with mechanized power armor. Vital to the military is it's cohort of semi-autonomous drones, which both support the troops direct in the front-lines as a sort of expendable weapons platform and scouts and also serve to augment support and logistics, transporting arms and ammo to the front-lines and injured away. The ground forces mostly rely on ballistics and magnetic rail-guns for weapons, though experiments with lasers and energy weapons are ongoing.

Space forces operate in battle groups based around a central capital ship, most often a carrier armed with scores of smaller ships meant to attack other ships, and a few larger weapons. The medium ships of the group run interference, repel attackers, and launch nuclear-tipped missiles, depending on their armaments.

NS Name: Ralnis, the dumb one
Nation Name: The Confederation of Wahl
Power Scale:High 3rd-low 2nd tier
Technology Tier:Tier III with Tier II weaponry(energy weapons for ships)
Major Species: The Confederation is an assortment of alien races who are pirates, raiders, slavers and other assortments who have enslaved entire planets and have made tributaries of entire systems. The founding races of this are known as the Lunn. A parasitic slug race that had the ability to psychically dominate the minds of those it comes into contact with it's spores and can mutate them into various forms before reproducing more Lunn. Lunn are the minor species compared to the multi-xeno criminal confederation. Even still, there seen in the high echelons of leadership and espionage as they ruled the chaotic politics of the Confed.

Lunn Mutants are able to have developed psychic abilities. Each gets powered by other Lunn mutants and gets stronger as they further mutate till they can't be able to move until they use up their host and the mutant dies giving birth to more Lunn slugs. This keeps going for their entire life cycle.
Population: 225 billion
Capital:Wahl Station, in Dark Space between the Halo Stars
Number of Systems: 120 systems
History and Culture: The Orion Sector always had piracy and criminal enterprises that prey on the people. Hell, there are pirates across the history of the galaxy. However the Tagali and others like the Empire had quickly stamp out anything that was as big as a planetary warlord but the Orion Sector has a strange history. You see pirates had the ability to form gangs, criminal syndicates and warlords since this was a backwater region of space. However none were as large as the Confederation of Wahl.

The Confederation came during the twilight years of war between the native powers in the Orion Sector and the Empire. A lone corvette landed on a rogue planet known as Eroud. Eroud was the only survivor from the supernova of a nearby star and was going to another solar system. The corvette was looking for treasure or something where it stumbled upon a cavern filled with slug-like xenos that they were able to survive in the cavern by feasting on each other.

Taking them on board was the last thing that they thought as the slug like creatures attacked them and took over their minds. It was then that the first Lunn became sentient in a galactic sense as they absorbed the knowledge and implanted their parasitic brood in the bodies as they mutate them beyond recognition.

It was here that they had taken a new interest in the galaxy and started to find a new ship and crew to infest to pick up more of their race from the rouge planet to make sure more of their kind can spread throughout the galaxy. Eventually they found the best method to spread was through raiders, pirates, and the sectors criminal element. They spread in secret, mutants gaining leadership and forming gangs as they took their own pickings of a wartorn sector and preying off both the Empire and native alliance.

It all came to an end when the collective gangs were beaten back either by rivals, in-fighting, or larger powers taking an interest to push them off of colonies that were being enslaved and raided. This was even to the point of the Empire trying to exterminate the Lunn when they found out about them. The campaign was nearly successful, driving the Lunn pirates and mutants to unknown space in the Sector.

They made their way to a new home, an ancient spacestation, large enough to be a moon. It was between a star cluster the Lunn called the Halo Stars. The station was called Wahl, named after the founder of the station and the last leader of the Lunn before dying. The Lunn used all their scavenged tech to produce the biggest nexus of crime in the Sector and the foundation of the Confederation of Wahl.

Over the next 500 years, the Confederation has became the biggest source of crime in the Sector. Having hundreds of millions of pirates and ships at their disposal and enslaved entire planets or made systems tributaries. The Station had became known as the Moon of Depravity, Moon of Crime, and Mos Eisley by the Humans...strange.

The Confederation's goals are simple, to conquer the Sector. Unlike every other nation however, this nation is little more than a giant horde that preys on the people of civilized worlds to develop their ships, weapons, and resources. However this horde does wish to take their fight to the empire once all the Sector falls in line to the criminal scum.
Military Size: 500 million
Military Description: The Confederation itself fights with asymmetrical warfare. Their ships are among the smallest, but fastest as their navy relies on speed, hit-and-run tactics, terrorist and using WMDs to soften defenses. The ships have energy and plasma weapons and as the only criminal/pirate horde that can build their own navy and military equipment. They also rely on a large intelligence network, being able to plan moves ahead and hit places that may have been too difficult to hit with a pirate raid.

Ground forces are the same. Mobile ground troops who mostly try to maneuver and outflank the more better trained and traditional doctrine forces. Uses spies, acts of terrorism, and whatever means to get the job done. They also field Lunn as psionic support, mostly using telekinesis and telepathy to keep communication going in long-distances or enforce positions needed. Young Lunn mutants who still are able to keep their appearance are used as infiltrators and special forces for the Confederation.

NS Name: The Empire of Tau
Nation Name: The Ohelder Path
Power Scale: Low Second-Tier
Technology Tier: High Third-Tier/Leans Towards Low Second-Tier
Major Species: The Ohelder Path does not discriminate anyone from its beliefs. Over the years, many species has joined the cause. Today, the administrative clergy has categorized minorities and major species in its holdings. 30% of the population is a humanoid-reptilian species, with the rest of the 60% being a mixture of Dansey, Lunn Mutants, Sobani, Telefids, Aelid, Xin, Goru, Ampha, and any other species out there.
Population: 250 Billion
Capital: New Cardel, Mordelen System, Buz Nebula
Number of Systems: 92 Systems
Important Locations:
New Cardel, Bombarded-Barren World
Population : 200 Billion
Ruling Class : Administrative Clergyman
Standard of Living : Harsh
Main Industries : Mining, Heavy Industry, Refining, Fuel Production, Military Goods & Labor.
Main Trading Partner : Pirates & In-faction Planets
Black Market Size & Status : Enormous - Ease of Access.
Imports : Food, Transplutonic Metal & Ore, Domestic Goods, Luxury Goods, Recreational Drugs.
Exports : Heavy Machinery, Heavy Armaments, Metals, Common Ores, Fuel, Export-Grade Ship Hulls & Weaponry, Marines & Soldiers, Labor.

New Cardel is the religious heartland of the Ohelder Path. Untold amount of souls live in massive underground housing-factory complexes beneath New Cardel’s inhospitable surface. Cathedrals dedicated to the teachings of the Ohelder are seen everywhere with millions visiting these places of worship everyday. Various military bases & defense networks house and hold millions of fanatical soldiers, marines, and insurgents, ready to defend the holy planet, or for exporting their ideals across the sector. Factories, mining facilities, and refining sites, are filled to the brim with workers that make end’s meet, if they manage to reach their work quotas set by the clergy. Advanced technology is absent in terms of outward appearance. New Cardel’s people and buildings are often compared to a historical-holo simulations. Everyone wears dull and extremely simple gray or faded green robes or coveringings. The buildings appear to be from a past-age of gothic styles.

A thriving black market fuels the needs and wants of the people as certain goods are banned by the Ohelder Path. Pirates and smugglers often make good trade in the ports of New Cardel as they trade various legal and illegal goods like food and luxury items in exchange for stuff like crew members, weaponry, ship-hulls. The clergyman has turned their backs on these illegal actions as the clergy benefits from the inflow of trade activity and goods.

History and Culture:
Today, the Ohelder Path is known to be a radical religious state that funds numerous terrorist and pirate organizations in the effort of destabilizing the socioeconomic status of the Orion sector. Their origins date back to the Ohelder Church, their predecessors.

In an attempt to gain power and knock over their rivals, the Ohelder Church launched a holy war against its former allies after the final coalition war against the Tagali Empire. Purging and sweeping across their neighbors, the Ohelder Church started to overextend themselves. A rival faction, the Dominion Hegemony, lead a push against the radical state of Ohelder in a massive counter-offensive. The Ohelder Church managed to cause a stalemate after sacrificing much of its force in a desperate defense. The stalemate would later be broken by the entry of new allies for the Hegemony. Now on the back-foot, the Ohelder Church fought with extreme fanatic zeal with further radicalization of their briefs as things started to get even worse. Near collapse, the Ohelder Church ordered a massive exodus of all asserts to the far-reaches of their space.

The Dominion Hegemony and its allies would end the war with a two-year siege of the Church’s capital, Cardel. A dual of artillery went back and forth with the fleet dropping ungodly amounts of ordinance on Cardel, with Cardel retaliating back with its own sophisticated-planetary-defense systems. Exhausted from fifty-years of war, the belligerents that be were no longer interested in chasing the fleeing remains of the Ohelder Church. An occupation of the Church’s space was in order by the forces of the winning side. Continued resistance in the form of guerrilla warfare in the Ohelder Church’s occupied territory soon drained the Dominion Hegemony and its former allie’s spirits as the coalition found itself in another war that it lost. The entirety of the states that were in the coalition with the Hegemony and the Hegemony itself were to be dissolved by today's powers that be.

Nothing more than a mining planet at the time, Stry, renamed to New Cardel were to be the new home of the remaining remnants of the Ohelder Church in the outer-rims of its territory. New administration was set up to govern what planets and space the Church had left. Recovery is still going on today, although conditions have improved since their exodus. Determined to avenge their demise, the Ohelder Church went down the slippery slope of sponsoring terror and pirate cells in their former territory and elsewhere. The naming convention of the Ohelder is fickle among some. Many states call the Church, the Ohelder Path while the Ohelder Church calls it still the Church. The Ohelder Path is a designation used to separate two stages of the Ohelder. The Church in its prime-years and the Path being today, its more radical-self. The Ohelder Path also unofficial cooperates heavily with pirates. The far-reaches of the Church’s space was filled with pirate clans and bases. Once the Church/Path moved into their new Territory in the outer-rims of their territory, the Church used the pirates as allies in their quest to spread the Church’s ideals. Plus, the pirates made for good trading friends as the pirates traded various goods that the Church could not get for one reason or another - one reason being that the Path is essentially banned from trading from the majority of sensible nations.

Delving into the Church’s beliefs, the Ohelder Church perceives the wide-usage of technology as a threat to the virtue and simple nature of the self, the individual. Artificial intelligence is viewed as the literal embodiment of the devil itself. Any goods like recreational drugs or luxury goods are banned as they embrace the corruption, depravity, and hedonism, of sin. Technology is not necessarily wholley banned but it is a good idea to hide any form of high-tech wares. That is, for now, the very basics of the Path’s beliefs. These ideas will be expanded in the IC as I think more on them.

Military Size: 315 Million Souls
Military Description: The Ohelder Path, like its naming convention, is a bit fickle. The lines that separates insurgency forces to official-state forces is thin. On paper, the Ohelder Path has an official count on its official-state forces, but that number fluctuates as the Ohelder Path sends its trained soldiers out to cause chaos in the former of terrorism, or bringing in its insurgents from cells to be trained and then stationed in state-colonies, or elsewise. Add-in the fact that the Ohelder Path also uses pirates - things start to get very complex in terms of clear thinking.

Doctrinal wise, it’s different depending on the force. The state-force acts its conventional arm. The conventional forces is the deterrence and aids in the defense of the Path’s holdings. The state-force is mostly defensive in nature. The offencive arm of the Path is its insurgent forces. Multiple terrorist groups, cell, or whatever you call it, act independently, doing actions of terroism or war crimes, although that line is blurry. The state-force is like a hammer that acts as the bulky muscles of the Ohelder Path that can stand up to a force, while it's insurgent forces is just the terrorist wing that causes issues in other states, or acts a light-force in conventional war to harness the enemy.
