I almost feel sorry for the shit Carter's going to have to deal with on this ship. And good to see you Ormata! The squad could use some more support chars imo, but there's no such thing as having too many tanks.

Contemplating an amorphous blob-man with an internal body temperature of something like 1,500 degrees C-ish. Diet mostly has a lotta metals, rocks, etc. Will wear a bodysuit/armor as to not fry everyone nearby.

Right, here's the idea.

Mr. amorphous blob man of fire and flame is a former stockbroker/manufacturer/criminal kingpin from the Ragon Empire who got slapped down when a Kiellar taskforce took the planet he was operating on. Literally he'll be a suit who got shot-down due to (On the Ragon side) tax evasion and (On the Kiellar side) holding ties to the Ragons.

And yes, the man will have a literal three piece suit.

Affiliation with the Ragons doesn't work perfectly as they have been written as hugely xenophobic, though if you change it to some Neutral Zone faction that is fine.

Generally that seems fine, provided you can find a reason for how he can exist on a ship without burning through the floor or something similar. If suggest working on the species concept, getting that good, then making the character.

Ragons are written as hugely xenophobic, yeah...but they can't eat someone who's body temperature melts steel. It just doesn't work. They'd have seen the race as mainly weapons (Wow, we can throw these fuckers at the Kiellar and they do things) and have acted as such. My lad just got mildly lucky in being picked-up as a curiosity by a Ragon 'industrialist' (Strip-mine-everything-man) and went up the food chain from there.

As for existing on the ship, he'll have first a prisoner's suit that both physically hampers him and keeps his heat in such that he doesn't start to burn shit up. After that, it'll be his usual suit (Bribed a Kiellar to bring the stuff on the ship for eventual prison escape).

The issue is that the Ragon Empire view every other species as animals, which is why they will eat them - it isn't necessary, there's just no reason not to. An inedible animal is still an animal and they won't ally with them any more than a human nation would form an alliance with a flock of seagulls.

Having said that there are individual Ragons (eg Raoul, who is on the Defiance) in the Neutral Zone who will work with other species and who might have different perceptions from the prevailing view in the Empire. Your character might have worked with one of them.

I should tell y'all now that I won't be very active. For how long, who knows? Anyways, this is the second time I've been online today. The first time I was catching up on what I missed the past three days, since I was unable to get online for them. Be it by circumstance or bad luck. Thought I'd warn y'all, just in case. And what really sucks, is that I had a whole post. I had Lee with the group (highly paranoid, since this was his first time off the ship) and then my bad luck came along and made me lose my post.
I'm an autistic 19 year old who used to read a library's worth of books.

Call me JA. It's easier than typing out Japanese Americans.

Character Description
    Name: Romovae Tani
    Species: Qaz’in
    Gender: Female
    Age:37
    Appearance:
    Image

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Romovae can preform ship maintenance, piloting, and arranging cargo for stowage with her experience operating a cargo ship pilot for over 10 years. She has an affinity with tech due to Qaz’inian biology. Additionally, due to her activities as a smuggler, she has basic skills in hand-to-hand combat and is decent with a blaster.

    Background:
      Role on Ship: Maintainance Technician
      Crimes Committed:Smuggling
Personality:Romovae seems like a simple person on the surface. She’s blunt, honest, and maintains an acquiescent attitude to many of the difficult situations she finds herself in. However, this is more out of a knowledge of when to pick her battles. When she is able to successfully defend herself, she is more than willing to fight.
Backstory: Born in the Neutral Zone to a small family of traders, Romovae inherited her father’s ship at 25 after he untimely died in a planetary riot during a voyage into Kielllar space. After five years of strictly legitimate trading, Romovae discovered that she could easily earn more money on the side by smuggling goods throughout the neutral zone and frontiers of the two great powers. She had decided to keep the ship as plain-looking as possible in order to stay inconspicuous. This means that it did not have powerful weaponry or engines strong enough to outrun inspectors already close to the ship. The inside of the ship is a different story. The interior has plenty of storage cut out of the walls, floors, and ceilings. Combined with the exterior mounting for large cargo crates gave the ship copious amounts of cargo stowage. She also maintained all of her legitimate work and the required permits. She, however, took various routes with cargo that was either left off the register or officially was never aboard the ship.

Recently she had arrived at Afewag Station with a delivery of foodstuffs and illegal goods to be sold on the station, but she was detained by the Gollar on smuggling charges after a search of the ship. Having already docked before the inspection, she could not run from the confederation. They seized her ship and it's cargo, and she was press-ganged into service as a maintenance technician. Waiting for reassignment, all she has currently are her clothes, her personal items, and her toolset. The Defiance and it’s clandestine mission would likely need another engineer on staff, so the Gollar Confederacy assigned her to join should the former prison ship’s crew agree.

Looks good to me. Two questions, how big are the Zolea? and what does limited psionic abilities mean?

About 7-8 feet and limited means he can only use beginner level psionic abilities like telekinesis for example. That help to explain it?

Add those to the app and we're good to go. Can you please give a list of what you see as beginner psionic powers?

In any case, that's fine... Has another app vanished? I'm sure there was another

Character Description

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: As a combat engineer, Vel’s main strength is his ingenuity and expertise with technical systems, both in and out of combat. Beyond that, he’s an experienced soldier with exceptional drone control from the late Dhasath military boasting a wide training resume and rigorous physical conditioning.

Weaknesses: While relatively strong for his own kind and recently practiced in the art of back alley brawls, Vel is far from a master at close combat. Lacking the dexterity and speed to keep up with most trained opponents and not even close to matching a Ragon’s strength, he can easily find himself outmatched in tight situations.

Background:
    Role on Ship: N/A
Crimes Committed: kidnapping/murder/destruction of property/smuggling/illegal arms dealership
Personality: While witty and sharp tongued, Vel is a blunt, self-centred mercenary dedicated to keeping himself alive as the galaxy continues to burn around him. Though despite his best efforts, some remnants of a moral compass occasionally push him to doing the right thing.
Backstory: The Dhasath League’s fall was not a thing of grace or strategy, after being pushed to the brink and learning surrender wasn’t an option, the League shattered under the Ragnor’s might. People fled for their lives as their worlds practically crumbled around them under the alien war machine. Few managed to escape and even fewer went on to survive the harsh galaxy they were ejected into. Throughout it all, the leaderless, exhausted and ultimately blind military continued to fight. Winning was never an option for them, instead they slammed what little they had into the hostile warships and landing parties in a relentless bid to buy their fleeing people time. Vel was once one of these soldiers.

A decorated sergeant and veteran of the Kiellar War, Vel was a frontline fighter and loyal patriot to the Dhasath League’s military. Trained as an engineer, he earned several commendations against the Kiellar through performing high risk repairs and numerous successful ground-based operations. When the Ragnor threat came to bear, Vel continued to fight with his unit long after their central command fell.
In a matter of days, the war became a mix of desperate stands followed by even more desperate retreats. The few remaining, united military ships would jump into an evacuating world and cover its fleeing people as best it could as its soldiers landed and tried to delay the monstrous hunting parties below before whoever was left retreated to the remaining transports and withdraw to space to jump away and repeat the whole process again with fewer and fewer ships by their side each time.

Through a combination of determination, grit and expertise, Vel continued to survive and fight across the falling planets. On his fleet’s ninth and ultimately final stand however, they came up against the main Ragnor invasion force and were promptly knocked asunder both on the ground and in the sky. Facing complete destruction with no chance of victory, the last admiral gave the command to disperse and scatter. After its many stands and battles, the final fleet was no more.

Being a transport ship, Vel’s vessel was seen as a prize rather than a threat and spared from the Ragnor’s fleets main weapons. Instead, several smaller ships chased it as it fled and picked at its systems in an attempt to cripple it. The ship would’ve been left dead in the water if not for the timely intervention of its few remaining stubborn and ultimately short-lived escorts.
Rudderless, alone and low on supplies, the onboard soldiers entered cryo-sleep for the journey ahead as they the few that chose to stay awake tried to find some remnants of home to return to.
Years later, Vel awoke to find that after being long dormant and adrift in space, the ship had been discovered in the neutral zone and was being scrapped as its crew was taken into slavery by their ‘rescuers’. Whether unaware of its crew’s occupation or just by considering any Dhasath resistance to be minimal at best, the slavers found themselves outmatched as the war hardened veterans resisted and eventually overpowered them with little regard for their own losses along the way.

This battle went on to set a pattern for the remaining Dhasath soldiers. Desperate raids and battles for long gone ideals only to find limited success at ever higher costs. By the end of the year, barely a handful remained. Finally, at his limit for death defying battle and risking his life for strangers he never knew, Vel picked up his things and left.

That was 3 years ago. Since then, Vel has jumped from job to job and station to station within the neutral zone, abandoning his long dying morals in favour of earning the credits he needed to survive and continue moving. Mercenary work, bounty-hunting, arms dealing, repair work and so on, any job that could pay well was one that he was willing to take. But despite it all, some part of him still holds onto his people’s long dead ideals.

OOC - Heya all, I've been looking around for a good sci-fi RP for a while now and couldn't resist throwing an app together for this one! Let me know how it looks and whether there's anything I should change about it.

I've been following along and have currently read through all of both threads. I have some interest in joining your story, but am worried my posts won't stand up to scrutiny...especially compared to what I see being posted so far.

Everyone needs to start somewhere, and seeing as this is your first forum post I think this is a good place. I was nervous when I first started roleplaying on this site. Go ahead and get a character application filled out, and I think we can get you settled in. We'll work with you.

Well, I wouldn't be so self-critical. A lot of the posts have been co-written while contributions to them often vary. Make a character application and don't be afraid to ask for help. We don't bite.

Was actually hoping to use a take on the custom species I'm working up for my main writings for this nation. I'm just not confident in starting my own stuff currently. Right now, I have a rough outline in my head for both the species and a character, just need to work on translating that into a coherent whole, but I can save them for later if you prefer.

I'm not unfamiliar with RPing, but most of the stuff I've done in my life was real-time first person stuff and none of it lasted for long. I just hope I won't slow anyone down as I learn the new stuff for these forums.

We've kind of hit a slowdown with posting right now, and there is a backlog of characters needing to be introduced. People are busy and it happens, but you might be able to neatly join once we resolve the problem with the T'zaths

Thanks. That'll give me time to work on this writer's block. I know what I want to put for my custom species and character, been working for a while on outlining my thoughts, but am having issues reorganizing them into anything like actual sentences, lol.
