400,000 march against Estmere in Zahedan
400,000 people took Inqelab Square in Zahedan to denounce Estmere's attacks on the Union
The impromptu rally was centred around Inqelab Square in central Zahedan, where thousands chanted anti-Estmerish and anti-Marathi slogans, while banging drums and singing revolutionary songs. Among the crowds were clerics, soldiers, women and local businesspeople who responded to the government’s rallying call for unity in face of the Marathi-Estmerish plot.
The rally saw numerous speakers from parliament, the armed forces and the government. All shared in the people’s disgust at the violations of Zorasan committed by Estmere. Some speakers reminded the crowd of the Union’s capability to defend itself, while also warning that should Estmere violate Zorasan’s waters again, the ship will be sunk.
Mondavarid News spoke to some rally-goers, with one saying, “I am a steel worker, but if Estmere comes for Zorasan I will be ready to offer myself as a soldier and if God wills it, a martyr for the Union and revolution.” Another said, “they think we’re backwards still, I want them to learn the hard way, so all the imperialist countries know the truth.”
Another, who gave her name as Fatimeh, told reporters, “Who does Estmere think it is? They make lies up about our country then send warships into our waters, there’s bad people in Estmere who are obviously using lies to justify attacking Zorasan.”
Prominent lawmaker, Faris al-Faidawi addressed the rally, where he said, “the world sees you, it hears you. Estmere knows it is on borrowed time, they know we are ready and willing to defend ourselves. We will resist on behalf of all oppressed and exploited peoples across the world.”
Another lawmaker, Surena Alizadeh, the most prominent principlist woman MP, roused the crowd by saying, “we are not the Shahs of old, we are the sons and daughters of the Arduous Revolution, we are the soldiers of Mahrdad Ali Sattari and the followers of Imam Roshani, we are stronger than them [Estmere] and we are powerful. If Estmere wants to come here and change this, then they will face 173 million children, soldiers and followers ready to do what must be done.”
The crowd was then greeted by Brigadier General Ghassan Rasfanjani, one of the most senior commanders of the Revolutionary Army. He told the masses, “they [Estmere] call us a rogue state, but they invade our waters, they call us a rogue state, yet prop up an Irfanophobic genocidal death state in Mathrabumi, they call us a rogue state, yet its leader wants an empire. They should not dare try us again, on the seas we will destroy them.”
However, the union government was quick to affirm that Zorasan would prefer a peaceful settlement to the crisis.
A foreign ministry spokesman said, “the Union does not seek escalation, nor have we escalated, nor will we. But we are prepared to defend our sovereignty and territorial integrity, there should be no doubt on this. But we prefer and work actively toward a peaceful solution.” He further said that a peaceful solution would be secured through the “withdrawal of these baseless lies on the Erekat case. Estmere can withdraw these accusations and peace will shall return to the Solarian.”
The union government is still planning on taking Estmere to the Community of Nations over the naval incident last week, in which three Estmerish Federal Navy frigates violated Zorasan’s territorial waters.
The rally also demanded capital punishment for the 14 arrested last week for spying on behalf of Estmere. Gen. Rasfanjani told the crowds that they would likely be found guilty by the State Security Court, “have faith in the Union’s jurisprudence, those who work against the country and the revolution are always found out and dealt with. Have faith in our justice and God will deliver.”
