Home Away Third
Modifier: +1

Manager: Mór Császár, age 51
Assistant: Mezei Orbán, age 40

Home Stadium: Stade de Torgos (90,000)

Goalkeepers
GK: Sasa Szatmáry, age 28, Club Stein-los (F)
GK: Thorsten Gerber, age 33, CA Paulinthal
GK: Aswad Munif Shalhoub, age 34, OAS Royal FC Image
GK: Ambrus Galambos, age 27, Stein-los Turkish
GK: Lucas Lemann, age 34, Eletti Valligiani Image

Gerber's grasp on the number one spot is loosened a little bit after a somewhat subpar season at CAP, while Szatmáry uses what was a specatular season domestically to launch herself into the number two spot and looking to get all the starts that Gerber is rested for. Shalhoub remains a reliable keeper, even at his advancing age, though both he and Lemann seem to be on the outside looking in at this point when it comes to the keeper pool. Galambos has quietly moved himself into contention of being on the plane to Atlantian Ocenaia, if the squad for the Finals was picked today and the Wanderers had qualified. While the number three spot has historically not been of much use either in qualifiers or the Finals, being able to get that experience has always been a huge boon for the player, especially younger ones who can then translate it into success domestically and further into their careers with the national team if they did get the first or second spot.

Defenders
LB: Rozalia Sebeôk, age 23, Duke of the North (F)
LB: Kristof Lakatos, age 23, Sardin United
LB: Florian Kuefer, age 31, Stein-los Turkish
CB: Neci Földessy, age 32, CA Paulinthal
CB: Renata Novaković, age 24, Baskita FC (F)
CB: Guðný Ingólfsdóttir, age 31, Tanrısal (F)
CB: Ralf Bader, age 28, Directus Image
CB: Torsten Mueller, age 26, Stein-los Turkish
CB: Christian Berg, age 28, Starling Image
RB: Raynaldo Puga Burgos, age 24, Santos Luega
RB: Dirk Freitag, age 31, Falourr Image
RB: Linka Polak, age 28, Baskita FC (F)

Slowly but steadily the defense is starting to get to where it needs to be, it has been helped a great deal at the development of Bader, having gone from Baskita to Directus and blossomed into one of the better defenders out there. No man is an island though and the combined efforts of Mueller and Berg have turned the center of the defense into quite the formidable line for those looking to go against the squad. Out on the flanks, Polak has fallen off a bit while Freitag looks like he has drank from the fountain of youth, still pacy as ever despite having had his thirtieth birthday last year, while Keufer is ever reliable on the opposite flank. Need to keep an eye out for Rozalia Sebeôk, as her combination of pace and tenacity while be quite a challenge when she is given the chance to get out onto the pitch, as she showed with a brilliant domestic campaign that helped Duke of the North secure an UICA spot despite being major outsiders according to the bookies.

Midfielders

RW: Davorka Čerkez, age 26, Hellinic Rouge (F)
RW: Jan Gersten, age 25, Bastion Image
RW: Ádám Berecz, age 26, Baskita FC
A/MC: Jörg Feierabend, age 31, CA Paulinthal
D/MC: Ríkharður Valdemarsson, age 32, Northern Union Image
MC: Jürgen Eisenhower, age 32, Revolutionaires Image
MC: Matthias Maur, age 28, Club Stein-los
MC: Sophie Nagel, age 27, Lunas FC (F)
D/MC: Edelberto Menéndez Trejo, age 28, Sardin United
LW: Magdalena Debeljak, age 25, Hellinic Rouge (F)
LW: Orsolya Gere, age 28, Sabrefell Athletic Image
AML/LW: Kati Szöllôsy, age 29, Tanrısal (F)

Two years after the fans were upset with the midfield and the likes of Eisenhower and Feierabend, they are suddenly enamored with them once more, even if the Wanderers did fall a bit short of expectations at the last World Cup. However they were able to rebound and thanks to those two players, were able to bring the Copa Rushmori back to the dual islands, so it is no big surprise that they are pencilled in as starters for nearly every match. Further down the depth chart, Maur has become quite thye dynamic player in the middle, having helped Club Stein-los reemerge from their long exodus from the UICA, while Nagel is a bit of an enigma having shown to be brilliant one some days and dreadful the others. Trejo adds a bit of steel in the middle, whenever it is requited, same with Valdemarsson, but it is on the wings where the Wanderers will soar, with both wing positions stacked deep with rich talent that can all do a dang good job when called upon, and probably would be starters for most sub 20 national teams.

Strikers

ST: Ingþór Auðbjörnsson, age 34, AC Izotz Zubia Image
ST: Alexander Kárpáty, age 29, Crawford City FC Image
ST: Claudio Romano, age 31, Sabrefell Moths Image
ST: Katharina Schwarz, age 24, Paulinthal FC (F)
ST: Oriel Villagómez Acuna, age 23, Santos Luega
AMC/ST: Alexander Jager, age 26, Revolutionaries Image

Though the pool stays the same, it is a bit of a changing of the guard for the Wanderers, as Thor has to finally concede that he is not quite the striker he once was, but still quite good when called upon. No, now is the time of Alexander and Alexander, as the two stars emerge as the preferred starting pair for the team going into the qualifiers. Jager's ability to play slightly more withdrawn, while Kárpáty's slightly better pace and ability to winner header is why despite his prolific domestic, as well as international, record, Romano remains as the third choice. There is no doubt that Romano will be getting starts throughout the qualifiers and it will be up to him to show that he pure goal scoring ability and leadership would be a better choice over youthful exuberance and slightly better technical skills as the two Alexanders provide.

Formation And Tactics
Image

Mór Császár finally managed to find a winning formula by putting Feierabend farther forward and having Jager play slightly more withdrawn, having the traditional Pasargan 4-4-2 looking more like a 4-2-3-1 when on defense or a 4-3-3 when in attack. That subtle change allowed him to take home a Copa Rushmori and get some of the fan angst to settle down. However with his star players now hovering near or past that thirty year marker, he may be forced to go back to the more possession passing style that the Wanderers once used over his preferred pressing and having the wingers and wingbacks get further forward.

Captain: Jörg Feierabend

Colours: Blue and gold

Other Major Cities: St. Jakob, Stelburg, Vlaikograd, Chernovets, Rotmunde
Highest Domestic League: Republikaliga
Nicknames: The Goldhorns
Style Modifier: +2.5

Coaching Staff

Manager: Gavin Hughes (APX)

The reign of Gavin Hughes continues, the Apoxian manager having overseen two of the greatest tournament performances in the history of the national team at AOCAF 57 and 58, reaching the Quarterfinals in each memorable campaign. The hope is that those strong performances will carry over to World Cup Qualifying. It’s fair to say that the Goldhorns underachieved in Qualifying for World Cup 82, and while only the most optimistic of voices could expect qualification to the World Cup Finals, everyone will be hoping for a better showing here. Hughes’ 4-4-2 has been quite successful during his tenure, and he’ll continue to use that formation. The squad selection here shows some younger players starting to break into the team, with 8 of 35 selected being under the age of 23. The number of players seeking to make their debut for their country is 9.

35-man World Cup Qualifying Squad

Goalkeepers

GK -- Yanko ZHELYASKOV -- 25y/o -- Ulsa Rovers (EUR) -- 15 caps, 4 clean sheets
GK -- Viktor VENEV -- 36y/o -- FK Metropola Borograd -- 50 caps, 12 clean sheets
GK -- Anatoli SVETEIKOV -- 28y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 3 caps, 1 clean sheet
GK -- David BECK -- 32y/o -- SW Stahlberg -- Uncapped

Yanko Zhelyaskov is a solid choice for the number 1 shirt. The young keeper has always performed well for the Goldhorns, after the national team reached the Quarterfinal of AOCAF 59 his stock is high.. Viktor Venev is still in the squad and can be called upon as a reliable backup with 50 caps worth of experience. Anatoli Sveteikov was named Best Keeper in the Republikaliga last season, and he’s expected to build on his 3 caps in these Qualifiers. David Beck, the ever-reliable SW Stahlberg keeper, is also named to the long list squad.

Left Back

LB -- Lyubomir DIMITROV -- 28y/o -- FK Metropola Borograd -- 35 caps, 1 assist
LB -- Edgar STEIMLE -- 20y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- Uncapped
LB -- Iliya KARAPETROV -- 25y/o -- Rudar Trkev -- Uncapped

There are some new faces overall in the order for left backs, but Lyubomir Dimitrov remains the first choice. The Metropola Borograd full back has been capped 35 times for his country. Dimitrov’s ability to get forward and put in solid crosses has been his best asset for the team.
Edgar Steimle was a breakout performer in 1912 Stelburg’s Republikaliga title win this season, and was named to the year’s Best XI. He plays more of a wing-back role, and his incredible pace allows him to get forward rapidly. He’s probably the fastest player in this set-up. Behind him is Iliya Karapetrov, who had a strong season for Rudar Trkev and is a more defensive option. Steimle and Karapetrov will each be searching for their first cap these Qualifiers.

Centre Back

CB -- Raphael KLOPFER -- 30y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 80 caps, 2 goals, 3 assists
CB -- Karl-Heinz JAGER -- 21y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 22 caps, 4 goals, 1 assist
CB -- Erich THIERSE -- 27y/o -- FC Rotmunde 1932 -- 13 caps
CB -- Kasper MARTZ -- 21y/o -- TSV Marzig -- 1 cap
CB -- Joshua MECKLER -- 26y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- Uncapped

The duo of Klopfer-Jager has been perhaps the most consistent in the history of this national team, and of course they will return for World Cup Qualifying. Klopfer has been the rock of the backline throughout his international career, with 80 caps to his name. His leadership skills have also earned him the captain’s armband. Beside him, Jager has been one of the hottest prospects in national football for years now, and is perhaps the best ball-playing centre back in the domestic league. Jager was a massive part of Teussen’s 2nd place league finish and President’s Cup win, and was awarded the league Golden Ball award. Jager has an extremely bright future, as does new boy Kasper Martz. The Marzig defender played with Jager at the Di Bradini Cup, and he is expected to play a massive role in the future of the national team. He looked solid in his debut performance at the AOCAF, so why not give him a few more nods in Qualifying? Erich Thierse has always been reliable for the national team, and Josh Meckler finally gets the call to the national team. His partnership with Klopfer for his club is something he’ll be hoping to replicate for his country.

Right Back

RB -- Lutz DASCHNER -- 34y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 67 caps, 2 assists
RB -- Thorsten HELMKE -- 29y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 30 caps, 3 assists
RB -- Luka AMBROZ -- 22y/o -- FK Metropola Borograd -- 5 caps, 1 assist
RB -- Pierre-Louis LOTBINIERE -- 19y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- Uncapped

Lutz Daschner is another one of those names that has always been there for the Goldhorns, and will be for as long as possible. How long that will be, however, is in question, as he has always relied on great pace as part of his game. Now that he is getting older and slowing down, he is needing to adapt his game. Behind him, Thorsten Helmke is always a reliable more defensive option. Meanwhile, Luka Ambroz of Metropola Borograd appears to be the future of the right back spot for the Goldhorns. He has looked very much the total package on his 5 appearances.

Centre Midfield

CM -- Thorsten KRAMER -- 25y/o -- 1830 Cathair (AUD) -- 80 caps, 14 goals, 33 assists
CM -- Vladimir KOSTOV -- 35y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 52 caps, 2 goals, 4 assists
CM -- Viktor DIMITROV -- 30y/o -- Energija Chernovets -- 73 caps, 5 goals, 40 assists
CM -- Kurt WITZEL -- 22y/o -- TSV Marzig -- 8 caps, 3 goals, 3 assists
CM -- Dennis BROTZMANN -- 31y/o -- Herzegovina City FC (BNJ) -- 41 caps, 1 goal, 2 assists
CM -- Goran IVANCIC -- 20y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- Uncapped
CM -- Todor MIHAILOV -- 19y/o -- Yeaddin Owls (VIL) -- Uncapped

The engine room of the national team, the midfield position. Thorsten Kramer has been a force here throughout his career, sitting on 80 caps and has scored 14 times for his country. he dynamic midfielder is a creative playmaker who has great skill on the ball. Usually beside him is Viktor Dimitrov, who sits a little higher up than his counterpart and is a creative source in the team. Vladimir Kostov is a strong midfield anchor who is utilized to help protect the ball, while Kurt Witzel has been earning praise for his national team performances to date and is seen as a footballer of Dimitrov’s mold. Dennis Brotzmann is here as well, he has always been in and around the squad and is viewed as a very reliable option. Goran Ivancic and Todor Mihailov are both excellent prospects for the future, and performed well at the Di Bradini Cup. Ivancic is a player more in the Kostov mold, while Mihailov can’t really be compared to anyone else this country has ever developed. A key midfield prospect, he was part of Metropola Borograd’s run to the Quarterfinals of the Youth Cup, and regarded as a stud in the midfield. After that, he was hotly pursued by several clubs from some of the world’s top leagues, eventually settling on Vilita’s Yeaddin Owls. He can dictate the tempo of a game, and his technical skill on the ball is similar to that of national teammate Kramer. Ivancic and Mihailov are both uncapped, but that will quickly change.

Left Wing

LW -- Paulus LEISTNER -- 32y/o -- Letson Town (ETH) -- 55 caps, 5 goals, 12 assists
LW -- Mario KOGLER -- 24y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 4 caps, 1 assist
LW -- Ingolf KRUGER -- 25y/o -- Marlesee 97 -- 9 caps, 1 goal, 1 assist
LW -- Lutz VON BERGEN -- 29y/o -- SW Stahlberg -- 25 caps, 3 goals, 9 assists

Paulus Leistner retains his hold on the starting spot on the left wing, fresh off a move to Letson Town. He has been a performer under pressure for the Goldhorns throughout his career, 4 of his 5 goals being either the winning goal or saving a tie. He’s got a strong resume at the international level, and will be relied on here. Mario Kogler is a smart, speedy winger who has been great for Teussen, and is hoping to continue that strong form in the national side. Kogler was named to the Republikaliga Best XI last season. Lutz von Bergen has been solid over 25 caps and is hoping to find his way back in, but it’ll be tough with Leistner, Kogler and one of the Republikaliga’s best in Ingolf Kruger standing in his way.

Right Wing

RW -- Ivo ROMANOV -- 30y/o -- Rozelle (BRE) -- 75 caps, 26 goals, 17 assists
RW -- Leo HEIDEN -- 26y/o -- FC St. Jakob -- 13 caps, 2 assists
RW -- Andreas WENTZEL -- 28y/o -- SW Stahlberg -- Uncapped
RW -- Lukas TAUSCHER -- 20y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- Uncapped

Ivo Romanov is the obvious star here, his move to Rozelle proving fruitful so far. He’s added a Campionato Esportivano di Campeones trophy to his collection, with a goal and assist in the final match, and is hoping to build on that success with the national team. On 26 goals, he’s tied for the national team’s all-time leading goalscorer. Leo Heiden has been trying to break into the first team picture for some time, but it’s tough with a man like Romanov ahead of him. Andreas Wentzel gets the call for the first time, the Stahlberg winger being an excellent goal-scoring threat. The heir apparent to Romanov, however, is Lukas Tauscher. Tauscher was an immediate star for FC Teussen Stelburg in his debut season, and was praised for his pace and the ability to be a difference maker in nearly every match he played. A consistent performer, Tauscher is expected to get his first chances with the national team in this qualification campaign.

Centre Forward

CF -- Michael RIBBECK -- 24y/o -- SW Stahlberg -- 35 caps, 26 goals, 1 assist
CF -- Krasimir KYNEV -- 27y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 43 caps, 20 goals
CF -- Ludwig REICHWEIN -- 27y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 9 caps, 4 goals
CF -- Rafael MESMER -- 21y/o -- 1828 Pomen -- Uncapped
CF -- Miroslav DINEV -- 34y/o -- Energija Chernovets -- 45 caps, 22 goals, 2 assists

There’s plenty of options here for Gavin Hughes, and each of these forwards will want to stake their claim to a starting spot. Krasimir Kynev and Michael Ribbeck are the usual duo, they have had a decent chemistry so far. Michael Ribbeck scored 5 goals at AOCAF 59, Kynev added 2 of his own. Both are Republikaliga champions, and Ribbeck won the Golden Boot last season with 30 goals, Kynev having 28. Ludwig Reichwein had a very strong debut season with FC Teussen Stelburg, while Rafael Mesmer is uncapped but has been touted as a very solid option in the forward position. This will also be Miroslav Dinev’s final Qualification campaign, the 34 year old returning for one last go.

Set Pieces
Free Kicks: Thorsten Kramer, Viktor Dimitrov, Ivo Romanov
Penalties: Krasimir Kynev, Michael Ribbeck, Ivo Romanov, Thorsten Kramer, Viktor Dimitrov

Captains
Raphael Klopfer is the captain, with Lutz Daschner and Thorsten Kramer as vice captains.

Kits

Siovanija and Teusland will continue to use their current kits for World Cup 83 Qualifying, although new kits are reportedly in the works from Starblaydi design company ediraf. The crest, circular, features an edelweiss in the middle with blue and gold colour around it. The home kit is coloured mainly gold, with blue highlights. In addition, a blue stripe is in the middle of the kit, with the crest inside. Gold shorts and blue socks round out the home design. The away kit is coloured mainly blue, with gold highlights and a gold stripe. Blue shorts and gold socks complete the design. The blue and gold here come from the flag of the country. The goalkeeper kit, not pictured, is fully green. Green was both the colour of the House of Stajovic, Siovanija’s old imperial family, and the colour of the uniforms of many Knights from Teusland during several historical conflicts.

Group and Schedule

Siovanija and Teusland have been drawn into Group 8 for World Cup Qualification, alongside 6 other teams. The full group is, with KPB rank in brackets:

New North Carolina (UR)
Lashnakia(336)
Anollasia (192)
Quakmybush(124)
Siovanija & Teusland(53)
Squornshelan Remnant States(48)
The Holy Empire(4)

Siovanija and Teusland have never faced any of the teams in this group, but there is great history within it. The Holy Empire are 4-time World Cup winners, and reached the Semifinal of World Cup 82, while the Sqournshelan Remnant States won World Cup 31. Quakmybush are a former World Cup host nation. The toughest match will obviously be against The Holy Empire, ranked 4th in the world, but the home and away legs against the SRS, with both teams quite similar in rankings, will surely have massive implications for qualification. The first place team in each group will advance to the World Cup, while the runner-up will advance to a play-off stage. The Goldhorns should know better by now then to underestimate any team below them, and Quakmybush, Anollasia, Lashnakia and New North Carolina should all prove tough competitors. The schedule for the World Cup has now been released. While the national team has traditionally stuck to the Nationalstadion or Olimpski-Stadion, this time the team will travel across the country and play in 6 different stadiums. The schedule is:

Matchday 1: Siovanija and Teusland vs Lashnakia @ Veisel (40,000), Rotmunde
Matchday 2: Squornshelan Remnant States vs Siovanija and Teusland
Matchday 3: Siovanija and Teusland vs New North Carolina, @ Jezera-Stadion (35,000), Vlaikograd

TEAM CASSADAIGUA- World Cup 83

Coach-Stephanie Sweeney (56)- 6th World Cup
By getting Cassadiagua to qualify for World Cup 81, Stephanie was able to silence most of her doubters that were not impressed with the effort in World Cup 80. A successful WC 82 added additional job security. She is considered to have a fully safe job status at this time.

Starters in Green
Subs in Blue
Reserves in Red

Goalkeepers:
#31- Kelsey Morgan (29)- Sub WC 81 & 82, Reserve WC 80 & CR 30-31, Starter in DBC 41 & 42, Sub CR 29
#21- Robert Nunez (25)- Reserve WC 82, Starter BPC 1 & 2, Reserve DBC 42 & WC 81
#40- Tiffany Nelson (23)- Starter DBC 44

Morgan took over starting duties in WC 82 after MC 14, and fared well so continues to get the nod. The former starter, Kristen Speller, had been our regular keeper since WC 78 and has retired from international play.

Defenders:
#2- Jessica Curran (34)- Starter in WC78-82, CR 30 & 31
#4- Hannah Shanley (30)- Starter & Captain in DBC41, Starter WC 80-82, CR 29, Sub WC 79
#22- Lupe Enriquez (27)- Starter in WC 81-82, DBC 41, CR 29-31, Starter & Captain DBC 42, Sub WC 79 & 80
#6- Ashley Crocker (29)- Starter in WC 82, Di Bradini 41 & CR 29, Sub WC 80 & 81, Reserve CR 31

#29- Matthew Donegal (25)- Sub WC 82, Reserve WC 81, Starter DBC 43, BPC
#3- Brooke Sorrentino (26)- Sub WC 82, Reserve WC 81, Starter in DBC 42, CR 30-31

#24- Taylor Young (29)- Substitute in DBC 41, CR 29 & 31, Reserve in WC 80, 82
#28- Brooke Sutter (23)- Starter & Captain DBC 44, Starter SWC 6, DBC 43, Reserve CR 31, WC 82

This unit returns in full. Jessica Curran is still the rock of the unit, and her play has not fallen off despite her age climbing up there now. She is expected to continue to perform at a high level. Lupe Enriquez is still the physical and dirty (when ref not looking) player that she has always been. Shanley has continued to get better with, and Crocker was a first time starter last year. Beyond the starters, there are no changes.

Midfield:
#19- Rachel Brenner (32)- Substitute in WC78, Starter WC 79-82, CR 30
#23- Sierra Mattison (29)- Starter WC 80-82, CR 30; Starter Di Bradini 41 & CR 29
#8- Shelby Martin (29)- Starter WC 80-82, CR 30; Starter Di Bradini 41 & CR 29
#9- Zack Pierce (25)- Starter WC 81-82, BPC, DBC 42, Reserve WC 80

#27- Breanne Rothers (29)- Starter Di Bradini 41, CR 29 & 30, Sub WC 80-82
#25- Emma McKee (27)- Reserve WC 79 & 80, Starter DBC 41, CR 29, Sub WC 81-82, CR 30

#32- Taylor Southwick (30)- Reserve WC 81-82, CR 29 & 30
#34- Lauren Hayden (31)- Reserve WC 81-82, CR 30

This isn’t the position for new players to enter the lineup right now. With almost everyone essentially in the prime of their career right now, it should not come as a surprise to see the entire unit return. This will provide great stability for the team.

Forwards:
#33- Hannah Ranucci (31) - Starter in WC78-82, CR 29 (** Team Captain **)
#71- Rachel Schanke (21) (Granddaughter of Jessica, who #17 is retired for. Hence the #71)- Starter DBC 44, SWC 6, Sub DBC 43 & WC 82, Reserve WC 81, CR 30

#12- Caitlyn Mayer (28)- Starter in WC 81-82, DBC 41, 42; CR 29 & 30, Reserve WC 79-80[
#16- Chelsea Monroe (29)- Sub WC 81-82, Starter in CR 30; DBC 41 & 42, Reserve WC 79 & 80, Sub CR 29

#26- Eddie Malone (26)- Sub WC 81, Reserve WC 82, Starter BPC
#38- Ashley Dahlin (25)- Starter DBC 44

While the promotion of Rachel Schanke into the starting lineup will get all of the headlines in Cassadaigua, this is still Hannah Ranucci’s offense. Moving Caitlyn Mayer out of the starting lineup will be scrutinized at home, because Mayer didn’t do anything wrong to warrant it. Most believe that coach Sweeney will use a 4-3-3 often, but who is taken out of the midfield then? These will storylines going in. Caitlyn Mayer will see action in every game in some capacity.

Manager
Tobias Möller Image
Age: 58
Regardless of the outcome of this cycle, everyone knows that this will be Tobias' last two years at the helm of the Marauders, as he announced his plans to retire the day after the World Cup Final itself. His tenure as the Marauders manager will likely be determined by what happens over the next two years and the aggressive possession game that he likes to employ be put to the test with an aging squad that many believe has seen their best days come and gone. No one is truly expecting a miracle run to a sixth title, but getting this group to the Quarterfinals would be quite an achievement, one that would leave both the team and his legacy well in tact. First though, some hoops and challenges in the qualifiers will be had and he is likely to lean in heavily on his assistant to get the squad prepared for the international weekends, as he continues to split time between the Marauders and the domestic club in Pasarga where he is employed.

Assistant Manager
Wisdom Tracey Image (F)
Age: 40
Patience has proven valuable for Tracey, as she will be given an interview after this cycle is through with being the likely preferred first option to replace Möller after he retires from international management following this cycle. Her preferred defensiveness will likely be a bitter pill for most Vanorians, who prefer to either see attacking or possession based football, but if it proves effective, even the most die hard of fans will come around. For the time being, she needs to keep the minds right, a task that seemed a bit too steep during the Finals hosted in the Eternal Empire, and that may be telling for her future employment in the Marauders program if such a problem arises again.

Keeper

1 Sean Smørdal, Starling Image
Age - 28
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 181 lbs
His height, sheer natural athleticism, and profound reflexes have been put to the test both domestically and for the national teams. There are many glimpses of what could be a stand out keeper for the ages but there seems to be a lack of focus to keep that majesty going. Regardless, he has proven to be one of the better keepers in the Marauders recent history and is heads and shoulders above the competition for the number one jersey. If he were to only refine that focus, get more consistent, then the Marauders could lessen their worry about defense and get back to playing the free flowing attacking play that they made famous nearly eighty years ago.

Defenders

2 Iben Fjørtoft, Raynor City United
Age - 28
Sex - F
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 158 lbs
Iben is a quick defender that typically plays on the right side for her the Rockers but can play more centrally if needed to. She is a quiet force that doesn't like to get forward unless she absolutely needs to, preferring to be that agile cover defender that allows the more offensive minded midfielders to get into the attacking area.

3 Seve Vásquez Image , Mar Sara FC
Age - 32
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 175 lbs
A former Sunrisian, Vásquez has been in Valanora for over seven years and was quick to answer the call when the Marauders were in desperate need of professional players for the World Cup Finals after the Calling happened. He has fairly good pace for a man of his size but his main strength is battering opposing attacking players out of the box with the force of a rampaging oxen, though he is not quick to temper, making him well suited to the Marauders' style of play.

4 Lauritz Soltvedt, SC Rinaldi
Age - 32
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 173 lbs
Another one of the stalwart defenders from a long line of them being produced by the Gunners. Soltvedt is deceptively fast for his size and has a good acumen for the game as well, making him a well rounded defender that should do the job quite well when called upon.

Midfield

21 Espy va Drake, 1830 Cathair Image
Age: 777
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 159 lbs
After becoming a folklore hero for the lower class of the world, va Drake has made himself one of the living legends of the game after help leading the side to a title in World Cup 53. He has traveled far and wide while plying his trade, donning kits for no less than five countries' clubs. Seen as the driving force in the middle of the park alongside Hawk, it is up to the opposition to try and figure out how to deal with the brilliance the winger and his other attackers have rather than them to create magic.

6 Yuki Hatsune Image, FC Capri
Age -28
Sex - M
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 147 lbs
This midfielder was born in the Sunrise Islands but came to Valanora at an early age and has really blossomed over the last five seasons to a versatile midfielder, though he prefers to play a little further up the pitch in a more attacking role. He's got an accurate shot from long range and can mix it up with most other players in the middle in those fifty-fifty balls, though he would prefer to leave that part of the game to the defenders and more defensive minded midfielders.

10 Laborious Hawk, AC Izotz Zubia Image
Age - 741
Sex -M
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 213 lbs
Words do not even begin to define his talent, his talent defines words. He was awarded one of the spots that the Vanorians have in the World Cup Hall of Fame, with it being very well deserved, as he has and continues to earn everything he has been given every single day. Hawk simply strives to be the very best footballer, captain, and teammate that there can be, with the hunger for perfection driving him forth on and off the pitch.

8 Ilglerdiriel Lithvathar, Raynor City United
Age - 747
Sex - F
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 149 lbs
Lithvathar is much like va Drake, a floater who is dynamic in attack but with enough speed and sense of the pitch to make up on any sort of defensive lapse. Yet unlike her flankmate, she is not nearly as skilled, but do not let that fool you, in a moment of magic she can undress an entire backline and set up more prolific scorers with easy chances.

7 Faeron Soldarian, 1830 Cathair Image
Age - 655
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 163 lbs
Soldarian continues to live in the shadow of more well known players both on the national team and with his club. Despite this, Soldarian is seen by all on the squad as the emotional leader and the linchpin the in the middle that allows the more attacking minded midfielders being allowed to play their game.

Strikers

9 Allandren Fresco, Ibini FC
Age - 530
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 167 lbs
Fresco continues to lead the line of the attack, being the tip of the spear that is the Marauders offensive movement. By now most teams know of the striker's pace and near laser guided shot, however the striker still somehow finds ways to bring in the goals.

11 Marie Skaar, Mar Sara FC
Age - 32
Sex - F
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 148 lbs
Despite reaching past her thirties, Marie still has tremendous speed and deceptive acceleration for a woman of her size, getting up to that top speed faster than most of those who try to mark her. Her shot is perhaps too accurate as she often sees the keeper making routine saves, but she has the technical wherewithal to find out defenses to get her own chances or set up her teammates with hard driven low crosses.

Subs
13 GK Brynjar Eide, age 30, Ibini FC
23 GK Jakob Stensrud, age 33, SC Rinaldi
15 LB Aleksandra Landro, age 32, AC Valanari (F)
16 CB Eivind Strømmen, age 27, Eastal Lunar FC Image
17 RB Jouri Salverda, age 28, Mallox Image
18 LW Yusuf Norberg, age 28, Ibini FC
5 RW Caninde Image , age 33, Corinthian Spirits Image
20 MC Leon Berg, age 31, Mar Sara FC
16 MC Gabriel Bakken, age 32, Soldarian FC
22 AMC Mikkel Jønsson, age 27, Raynor City United

Busoga Islands National Team

Information
Country code: BUS
Denonym: Busogans/Busoga Islanders/Islanders(Busoga Islanders is the formal term; many Banijans call them Busogans, while locals refer to themselves simply as Islanders, which will be the terminology used by the journalists of this country)
Association: Busoga Islander Soccer Association(BISA)
Manager: Starfire (Pegasus - female), 48 years old, native of the Equestrian States. Starfire is a manager who excels at getting the most out of whatever she's given, regularly keeping the Ponyville Galaxy from relegation with a keen eye for tactics and seemingly boundless optimism that keeps spirits up in the locker room. Starfire was Moon Dust's long-time student as an assistant coach at Ponyville United and pundits tend to think more highly of the pegasus than her club's place in the table might suggest. She has been largely popular so far as the Islander manager, signing an extension after qualifying for the Cup of Harmony through the World Cup 83 cycle.
Senior Assistant Manager: Yamma Mbye. 40 years old, doubles as the new executive director of the Busoga Islands Regional Youth Academy. Spent the twilight of her professional career when she was part of a wave of Banijan female players that went to the Equestrian States, playing for the Manetreal Impact. Just announcing her retirement from the playing scene at 36, she was hired quickly by Starfire to be the Assistant Manager, and they had a good working relationship at the latest AOCAF. She said that connections they shared within the Equestrian States, as well as her own connections in the Busoga Islands, would allow her to be an 'invaluable asset' for the transition.
Captain: Marie Sonko
Alternate Captain: Berihu Abeselome.
Home Kits: Red
Away Kits: Black
Alternate: White

Select Player Biographies

1. CB Marie Sonko

The heart and soul of this team, the man who has long been a legendary footballer in this country, Delbin Kasekende, the goalkeeper, retired after the previous Cup of Harmony. He played for local club Dukuma SC for many years, and then changed to Herzegovina City FC, where he established almost a vice grip on the BSL Golden Glove award, as well as winning a host of league titles under Brian Emerson and being one of few men to be captain for both his club and his country. Not an easy feat, and he was the country’s inaugaural captain- even after having played in a World Cup for another side.

Kasekende, however, is 39 years old, and retired from national team duties when the Busoga Islands were eliminated by Saltstead at the Cup of Harmony. However, while sad for him, the show must go on. The armband was passed to an obvious contender- Marie Sonko, the center back who plys her trade in the Equestrian States. The Northern Moravica grad has long played for Everfree Forest HC in the Equestrian States, manning the center back position for the club. Denied an opportunity to play in her home country while Banija’s sports gender segregation laws were on the books, she has stayed loyal to the club that has given her the opportunity to play in the top flight, declining an opportunity to go to Lakiska SC and stick it out at Everfree Forest.

She captained the steady back line at AOCAF LVIII. While the team finished in last place in their group, they did open the tournament with a 1-0 win over Ko-oren, and only allowed 3 goals in the group stage. They will look to ride a stingy back line to new heights once again in World Cup Qualifying.

2. RB Berihu Abeselome

With the retirement of Kasekende, Abeselome is now the oldest player in the Starting XI. Beyond that, he's the only player on this squad who has been to a World Cup, being on the World Cup 80 squad for Banija, though he did not get any minutes in that tournament.

He's spent the majority of his professional career playing in the Crystal Empire, starting for Crystalopolis City, regarded by many as the class of the United League. He was an obvious choice to be one of the key players on this squad- Starfire has seen him play, up close, as she has managed Ponyville Galaxy. He is now the alternate captain for the team. While it is unlikely he will ever wear the armband for the national team, he is one of the squad's most passionate players, and helps provide stability in the back.

He will be a threat, and a force, for the team. Now, of course, at age 33, he is much less of an attacking threat- which means that there will be less counter-attacking from this side in general. But still, the wily veteran wing back is expected to both be and remain a dominant force on the back line for the Busoga Islands, as they attempt to keep climbing up those World Cup rankings.

Reçueçn Roster & National InformationImageSporting History
The country of Reçueçn is not one that most people will recognize from international sporting competition. The nation has had few opportunities to make forays into the world of international football. Reçueçn debuted in the 59th Baptism of fire, where they made it to the quarterfinals. IN their last game, they took Panem, the eventual winners of that tournament, all the way to penalty kicks, coming the closest to defeating the champions-to-be out of any nation in that Baptism of Fire. Since then, Reçueçn has taken part in only a couple international tournaments. Immediately following the Baptism of Fire, Reçueçn played a friendly against United RussoAsia in "Le 1er Annuel Tournoi Teikei," which they handily won, 3-1. Afterwards, the nation attempted twice, back-to-back, to qualify for the world cup, both times unsuccessfully. Following the first attempt, during World Cup 72 qualifiers, Reçueçn was invited to the 64th Cup of Harmony, where two draws in the group stage proved not to be enough to advance.

After Reçueçn's abortive attempt to qualify for the 73rd World Cup, the nation ceased entering international tournaments for a long period. During this phase, domestic sport in Reçueçn fell into disarray as well. Only last year did things change, when a young legislative staffer named Jean-Luc Lassalle began an initiative to resurrect organized sport in the country with the government's assistance. The result of his push was the creation of the brand new Reçuecian Ministry of Sport, which promptly reorganized domestic association football leagues throughout the country and got things moving once more. Lassalle himself became the new Minister of Sport, despite his young age.

For the national team, this meant involvement once more in international competition. Reçueçn's first chance to declare its return came at the 7th Independent Associations' Championship. To the surprise of everyone, including its own fans, the unranked Reçuecian national team managed to win 3rd place, taking home its first silverware of any kind. The team itself largely consisted of the same squad that had partaken in the Baptism of Fire and World Cup qualifiers all of 10 World Cup cycles ago.

The team has struggled in the past, due to the rivalries within Reçuecian domestic football. During the Baptism of Fire and first international competitions for the national team, the players did not really have enough experience playing with each other to have developed the necessary camaraderie or team spirit. Hopes were high that the creation of the Ministry of Sport would herald in a new era. Since the team was largely the same, some of the rivalries came back at first, but the team's performance at IAC 7 smoothed over its troubles and the team seems to have gelled.

Riding high on their latest achievement the team now heads into qualifiers for World Cup 83: Reconciliation, impatient to see how it fares against larger fry and hoping to do as well.

All time record: 11-14-16

The Reçuecian National Team is a relative unknown, but if it's known for anything, it would be for its defensive style. This is partly due to the large influence of Reçueçn FC on the team--the most popular domestic club in Reçueçn plays about as defensive a game as you can imagine. This is balanced out to some extent by the players from other teams with more attacking philosophies, but the league as a whole tends towards defense, and it shows in the national team. Furthermore, Gerauld Firaut, the team's #1 goalie, is the best player on the team by a solid margin--likely the only truly world class player. He and his defense for the foundation for the team as a whole. The team plays in a 4-3-3 formation, but sometimes the wings drop back, almost making it a 4-5-1. In general, the team's strategy and tactics are solid--Jacques Tremblay, the coach, knows his stuff despite his age. The weakness would be the quality of the talent on the team--Reçueçn has not yet had the opportunity to develop or train true world class talent.

The Reçueçian National Team's mascot is the Unicorn; thus another name for the team is "The Unicorns". The fantastical creature has been a symbol of Reçueçn for almost two millennia and is also the national animal, appearing as the supporters in the national coat of arms.

Image
The team's kit represents the colors of the flag in a quite literal fashion. This kit was first one the Unicorns ever wore, dating back to the 59th Baptism of Fire. Today it is unpopular with fans, who think it is old-fashioned, badly designed, and ugly. Although the RNFA secretly admits that the fans are right and aims to replace the kit soon, they tout it as 'traditional' and promote its value as a connection to the team's past.

Reçueçn has only one stadium in which its national team plays, located in the capital city (also named Reçueçn). Never having been given an official title, the national stadium is usually simply referred to just that: The National Stadium. Capacity: 30,000.

Roster
Jacques Tremblay: Manager, 70 years old.
Old and wise, and known for his eternal ability to surprise and innovate, Jacques Tremblay is often seen as the father of modern Reçuecian football. He was once the coach of Associated Savoie, and during that period they performed much better than they had before or than they have since. His new method brought great players to the team, and when he retired, it hurt the team greatly. Despite his retirement, when asked to coach the national team for the Baptism of fire, did not refuse. He and Gerauld Firaut hold together the national team, oft riven with tension. Really, Tremblay is too old to still be coaching a soccer team, especially at the international level. Yet his players still hold a lot of respect for him, both as the Reçuecian footballing legend that he is, but also now as a coach and mentor--even if sometimes they wish he'd let them unwind a little more.

Starters
Gerauld Firaut Goalkeeper, 24 years old. Team captain. Jersey #1. Plays for Reçueçn FC.
Responsible and mature for his age, Firaut is widely considered the best player in Reçeuçn. His star status does not extend outside the country as of yet, however. Of course, as a goalie, it may be hard to compete with the international fame that strikers often achieve. His goal-tending skill, however, is unparalleled. When he's not putting up a wall in the net, Firaut acts as his team's moral compass off the pitch. Level-headed and perceptive, Firaut is a wonderful leader for the team, both in and outside the game. His tactical instincts are not bad, and it's not uncommon to hear him yelling instructions to his defense. Firaut is happily married and has a 23-month-old daughter.

Leo Beck: Sweeper, 28 years old. Jersey #2. Plays for Reçueçn FC.
During the regular season, Beck plays on the same team as his goalkeeper, Gerauld Firaut. Thus on the national team as well, they work well together. Although older than Firaut, he looks up to him as a leader, and is very protective of him, as well as Reçueçn FC's reputation--sometimes to a point that causes conflict with teammates from other clubs. Beck is a stellar player and helps fill out his team's defensive capabilities.

Ägidius Heissler: Left back, 34 years old. Jersey #3. Plays for Itrino.
Heissler is getting a bit older, but he can always find a way to trap an attack in the corner, and then win the goal kick. A very tall man, he's come in useful for the Unicorns in many a set piece where he's headed away a dangerous corner kick or free kick. His phlegmatic personality is an asset to a team largely full of high-strung starlets fighting for attention.

Norman Bright: Center back, 32 years old. Jersey #4. Plays for Renwyll.
Bright was widely credited for Renwyll's high performance in the Globe Cup 56. He has good spacial awareness and an ability to control the center of the box without letting his mark slip. When paired with a strong goalie, Bright really shines, and has the potential to turn that pair into a duo to be reckoned with... if they are on the same page.

Oliver Spencer: Right back, 23 years old. Jersey #5. Plays for Reçueçn FC.
Another one of Reçueçn FC's star defenders, Spencer is often outshone by Firaut, and can never decide whether the rivalry he thinks they have is more important than team spirit or not.

Luc Pélissier: Left midfielder, 30 years old. Jersey #6. Just finished a contract with Puits Tunnellers.
With Clint Soto's retirement before IAC 7, Pélissier has been promoted to a starting position for the team. Although his spot as a national team starter isn't undeserved, he doesn't have quite the same level of talent as some of the other stars, so he makes up for it usually by either taking someone else's side in an argument, or by boasting about one of his several impressive hobbies.

Grégoire Leclair: Defensive midfielder, 28 years old. Jersey #18. Plays for Association Genève.
Leclair is the newest promotion from the reserves to the starting squad, thanks to a tactical decision made by Jacques Tremblay. In the past, Tremblay had started Saunders, his attacking midfielder. That he has listed Leclair as a starter for qualifications implies that he is taking a more defensive strategy. Leclair and Saunders have probably never been on the field for the national team at the same time: Tremblay appears to consider their roles as being quite opposite. Leclair's specialty is going back and clearing the ball out of dangerous situations.

Maynard Hebron: Right midfielder, 25 years old. Jersey #8. Plays for the Alpine Armageddon.
The unsung hero of the Alpine Armageddon (one of the lowest ranked teams in domestic competition in Reçueçn), Hebron is a great proponent of football development across the nation, especially on behalf of smaller amateur teams who want to join the RNFL. This has lead in the past to a resentful attitude on his part towards some of the larger clubs--clubs who provide most of the players on the national team. Hebron's sports activism, however, is smiled upon by most people in Reçueçn, and with the advent of the new Ministry of Sport, he hopes for more opportunities for him to promote soccer throughout the country. World cup qualifications are a wonderful stage on which he can gain visibility.

Hippolyte Lavigne: Left wing, 31 years old. Jersey #9. Plays for Bayern Heidelberg.
Lavigne can make great crosses, but can tense up under pressure if he has to score himself. His best skill is his ability to take the ball from the midfielders, get deep into attacking territory, and feed it to a striker. Lavigne is very tall, which is probably what is responsible for his position as a leading figure on and off the field.

Frank "Franky" Adams: Center forward, 19 years old. Jersey #10. Plays for Association Genève.
Young, extremely talented, and rather cocky, Franky, who plays for Association Genève in the RNFL, really makes their team. When he has a bad shooting streak, his team has a losing streak, and vice versa. Franky knows this. At Association Genève, the team and the fans love him. At the national team, they tolerate him--his rivalries with Reçueçn FC's players have caused tension in the past, putting more responsibility on Tremblay to defuse the situation. Tremblay, incidentally, thinks Franky is a bit conceited, but is also keenly aware of his talent. Franky is the national team's all-time leading scorer (20 goals in 40 games). Still a teenager, it looks like he will be one of the faces of Reçuecian football for a while, and he's couldn't be more thrilled about it--if anything's bigger than his talent, it's his personality. The recent run of relative success the unicorns have had allowed him to overcome some of his rivalries with his teammates, but it doesn't look like he'll ever settle down to become the sort of spiritual leader a player like Firaut is. He will probably continue to clown around for years.

Freeman Lebo: Right wing, 26 years old. Jersey #11. Played most recently for Klyde FC (Cosumar).
Lebo can score goals, is highly motivated, and persevering. Like some others, however, he is a bit high-strung. Originally he was Puits Tunnellers' main goal scorer, but was disappointed when they finished last in the league--and he had trouble getting along with some of the others on the team. He was happy to go his own way and become one of only a few Reçuecian players who played abroad. Lebo found a spot playing for Cosumar's Klyde FC for a few seasons, making a few decent globe cup runs along the way. He eventually quit starting for the team however, when he ceased to be the young blood they'd bought him as.

Reserves
Jannick Bechtholdt: Goalkeeper, 31 years old. Jersey #12. Plays for Association Genève.
Association Genève's starting keeper has to alternately put up with being a goalie on a team where it's all about the attack, and being goalie on the national team where he is constantly outclassed by Gerald Firaut. Often ignored, he is still a great player.

Emanuele Cutrona: Sweeper, 20 years old. Jersey # 13. Plays for Harrim FC.
Cutrona is one of the two latest callups for the national team, first playing during IAC 7. He is the only Italian-speaking player on the team (although others are from Italian-speaking clubs). He is the second youngest player on the squad, besides the precocious Franky. He and Franky, of course, get along pretty well, constantly joking around and pulling pranks. Sometimes next to Franky, even Cutrona seems older and more mature. But Franky has also been on the team for years, so sometimes it's obvious that he's the one who knows the ropes--even if he doesn't always respect the rules.

Paulin Bourguignon: Left back, 21 years old. Jersey #14. Plays for Stomford.
Bourguignon is the kind of defensive player who is always trying to clear the ball by booting it up the field as hard as he can. That is, at least, when he's not in the opponents' box on a corner kick trying to score. Big on counter-attacks, he sometimes outpaces the mid-fielders, usually to his coach's dismay.

Lukas Kayserling: Center back, 20 years old. Jersey #15. Plays for Hesse Sporting.
Kayserling sometimes has difficulty communicating as he doesn't speak English or French as well as most of the other team members, and most of them don't speak German. However, at press conferences, he's great at sitting there and looking somber. A tall, intimidating figure, he takes his job very seriously; he takes everything seriously.

Klaus Klemm: Right back, 28 years old. Jersey #16. Plays for Chapel-Field House.
Plays defense, but as if he were a mid-fielder. He plays for Chapel-Field House, a team from the same city as Reçueçn FC, but with a much smaller fan-base. This bothers Klemm. Since the national team games are played in the capital too, he's always insisting that it's his turf and that he won't be made a second-class citizen. Nobody else thinks he is; he's a solid player.

Raoul Lavigne: Left midfielder, 21 years old. Jersey #17. Plays for Bonneville Sporting.
No relation of the slightly more well-known Hippolyte Lavigne who starts for the team, Raoul is the other of the Unicorns' two latest callups besides Emanuele Cutrona. He caught the NT's scouts' eyes after helping Bonneville Sporting to a couple good seasons. Still a newcomer on the team, he hasn't perhaps 'clicked' yet, but given the chance to play, should be able to distinguish himself.

Harold Saunders: Attacking midfielder, 27 years old. Jersey #7. Plays for Association Genève.
Saunders is synonymous with an aggressive style of play, especially in the midfield. He seems to always be able to find a way to give the ball to Franky. One of the leaders of the team, he is emotionally well-balanced on and off the field. For qualifiers he has just recently been demoted off the starting line-up as Tremblay looks for a more defensive style of play.

Thomas Büchel: Right midfielder, 30 years old. Jersey #19. Plays for Reçueçn FC.
Büchel is a very fluid player, who doesn't let himself get locked into the same rut. His best trait is his situational ability, which, when coupled with his dribbling and passing skills, makes him a formidable force when trying to maintain possession or get the ball forward.

Per Tegeler: Left wing, 23 years old. Jersey #20. Plays for Annedine Sporting.
Good at receiving the ball from the defense or mid-field, trapping it in general, and taking it into the 18-yard box and shooting. A possible weakness of Tegeler's is passing: either he doesn't, or it's long air balls.

Ly Nasser: Center forward, 22 years old. Jersey #21. Plays for Zimmerich FC.
Nasser loves to shoot from far out, and often shoots high. Despite this, he makes up for it with his sheer number of shots. Incredibly aggressive, and loved by Zimmerich fans. Personally, he is of the opinion that he is one of the best strikers in the world. He is certainly an asset to the team, although his attacking style doesn't always mesh well with their more defensive method of play.

Jean-Baptiste Brochard: Right wing, 26 years old. Jersey #22. Plays for Lampadaires Associated.
Brochard is incredibly fast, and having the ball doesn't slow him down hardly at all. Although Brochard is weaker in set pieces and organized attacks, he is strong on the counterattack and the breakaway, where he can outpace the opposing team's defenders.

Helies de Malhortye: Goalkeeper, 34 years old. Jersey #23. Plays for Zimmerich FC.
De Malhortye has noble blood and is rather high-strung--but then, what football player isn't? A lot of other goalies, I guess. De Malhortye is still a solid choice for a back-up goalie, but on a team with Firaut, there's little call for him. His one particular strength is blocking penalties.
ImageReçuecian History and Culture
The nation of Reçueçn was created in the first half of the XIVth century, when Carl Blancpic, Duke of the Duchy of Reçueçn, launched a breakneck military campaign invading and annexing many of his neighbors to the east. Before this time, Reçueçn had been only a city, built on the heights overlooking the junction of the Rhône and Saône rivers. These heights had been settled by Carl Blancpic's distant ancestor, Ifheda Rcuecn, near the end of the IInd century a.d., and had born his name ever since. The area at that time belonged to the Roman Empire, who had established their regional administrative center, Lugdunum, on the other side of the river.

In 197 a.d., a decisive battle was fought near Lugdunum in one of the civil wars for the throne of the empire. The victor, Septimius Severus, razed the city of Lugdunum and destroyed it, stripping from it all imperial privileges in punishment for supporting his rival. This was the end for Lugdunum, but it was the beginning for Reçueçn. Refugees flocked across the river to join the settlement, and the city of Reçueçn grew to become a smallish regional center. Rcuecn's descendants (who changed the spelling to Reçueçn) maintained control over what became the Duchy of Reçueçn for 700 years, until it was inherited by their cousins the Blancpics who reigned for another 300 years.

At the beginning of the XIVth century, power passed into the hands of Carl Blancpic, who was partially insane and a megalomaniac. Thus he declared his duchy to be a kingdom and singled out weak neighbors who he invaded with audacity. Over an incredibly short period of time beginning in the spring of 1337, he had carved out for himself a sizable dominion.

Carl, who styled himself "Carl III of Reçueçn", was violent, unstable, and petty. He was also wildly unpopular with the populations of the various states he had conquered. Although the central power structure helped the economy of the new Kingdom of Reçueçn to some extent, it did not bring with it all the stability that might have been expected. This was mostly due to the decrees of Carl III, who, among other things, began a campaign to persecute and kill all "heretics" within his new realm. Most historians agree that this was in fact a thinly veiled purge of his political rivals. This and other policies he enacted on his whims finally drove the people into open revolt sometime around 1352.

Carl managed to hold on to power for a couple years by hiring mercenaries, but in 1254 lost two key battles and was captured by the rebels. By this time, the rebellion was led by feudal lords throughout the country who had sided with the people against their tyrant king. Carl III was executed, and the kingdom dissolved into a mess of tiny, independent feudal holdings.

No sooner had the various states that had been in the Kingdom of Reçueçn won their independence, than infighting broke out among them. The feudal lords squabbled over power and influence, trying vainly to imitate Carl's meteoric rise to power. This new violence, combined with the economic downturn associated with the rebellion and the breakup of the nation, clearly displayed how poorly things were turning out. More sensible minds came to the decision that the solution was to once more unify Reçueçn.

On November 19, 1356, therefore, The Allied States of Reçueçn came into being. The leaders of all the petty states, duchies, bishoprics, free cities, etc., came together and signed what are known as "The Treaties of the Alliance," a document just powerful enough to classify Reçueçn as a single nation by most people's definition, rather than a group of independent entities. The treaties also established a rough form of democracy, with each state represented (although typically by its aristocracy). Thus Reçueçn lays claim to being one of the oldest democracies in the world.

The treaties defined much of Reçuecian history to come. Provisions were made to establish freedom of religion, in order to avoid another scenario similar to Carl III's persecution of his opponents. The treaties also gave Reçueçn an isolationist bent. The nation had been burned before, and wouldn't soon try to meddle in external affairs, especially when its composite nature made creating a foreign policy so difficult.

Reçueçn, then, has managed to avoid many of the crises of European history. It's darkest moment came when Napoleon invaded, proclaiming himself emperor (although he allowed Reçueçn's government to continue to function under his reign). The allied states have drawna closer together, although cultural differences remain among them; they don't even all speak the same language.

Reçueçian culture has also been shaped by its location, nestled in the center of the Alps. Although rural communities did center around agriculture--especially dairy production--many Reçuecian were forced by the lack of arable land to find other work. This led to a culture of innovation that continues today: Reçueçn is now known for its luxury products and technological exports. This has additionally led to a focus on science and education. The relatively diverse nature of Reçueçn's culture means that some areas are culturally more time-oriented while others are more task-oriented, but this conjunction has led to some unique things, especially in art. Reçueçn, perhaps thanks to its inland, mountainous location, or the fact that it was never a colonial power, has seen little immigration or emigration. Recently, however, the diversity of language spoken in the country has made it attractive to refugees from other areas where those languages are spoken.
ImageVisiting Reçueçn
Reçueçn is a small nation, but it's got a lot to see. If you're visiting to attend a world cup qualification match, you may want to stay the weekend to see the sights.

Travelling to and in Reçueçn
If you are coming to Reçueçn for world cup qualifying, you will most likely want to fly into Reçueçn city. As the capital and biggest city, it will definitely have the flight connection you need. Genève, the nation's second city, will also accommodate you in this regard, but Reçueçn city is also the site of every Reçueçian home qualification game. If you are travelling from a nearby country, arriving by rail is also a possibility, and many more Reçueçian cities have international rail connections than have international airports.

For travel within the country, taking the train is probably the way to go. Car rentals are fairly expensive, and many cities restrict downtown access to pedestrians and public transport. When travelling through the countryside, you will find that autoroutes have high tolls, and smaller roads are typically wind annoyingly through steep mountain terrain. However, an extensive rail and tunnel network has been built, and taking the train is fairly cheap between most places in the nation. Bus routes also connect most larger towns. Within cities themselves, public transport is always very high quality and usually very affordable or in some cities, even free. But armed with these tips, the next question is: where to go?

What to See
Presumably if you're reading this, the main attraction that has brought you to Reçueçn are the world cup qualifying games, all played just a short bus ride away from Reçueçn international airport at the National Stadium in Reçueçn's inner suburbs. You could take the metro there without going outside. But if you want to see a bit more of Reçueçn, consider taking a ride up to a cute alpine village and hiking along a mountain ridge to appreciate the amazing views we have to offer. Or take a swim in a mountain lake and cool off in the shadow of the peaks. If you really are looking to ditch the heat, check out the ice tunnels at the Écho glaciers. Or, if you come back in the winter, you can hit the slopes--our skiing's the best in the world.

If the mountains aren't for you, consider visiting our world-famous cheese museum--free samples! Or visit the Genève Cathedral if the culture you're looking for isn't bacteria. Genève, Reçueçn, Zimmerich, and other cities all have beautiful downtown historic districts worth the walking tour. Check them out if your idea of a good time means wandering through medieval fortifications or strolling down cobbled alleys. If what's up your alley is shopping, then we've got that too--check out Genève's luxury district for high end jewelry, fashion, watches, and more. Exchanging your money should be no problem: the Reçueçian guilder is very stable and worth only a little more than the NSD.

Where to Stay, What to Eat
If you are on the search for the perfect hotel for your stay in Reçueçn, worry not. Plenty of all kinds abound in and around each major city, whether you're looking for the four star experience, or just want to save a buck. If you'd rather have the personal, local touch, then we've still got you covered: a quick look online will reveal plenty of family-owned bed & breakfasts, as well as short-term rentals with people trying to make some money off the empty spare room one night or week at a time. Hostels are also very popular in Reçueçn, and are a great way to stay near the city center for a very low cost.

What'll you have for dinner? Reçueçn's food is what will make you want to come back for another visit. We love our cheeses, and our national specialty is Raclette, melted cheese scraped over small potatoes, cornichons, and salami. Try it at a restaurant where each table is provided with its own small oven so each diner can melt their own. Another local specialty is Tartiflette, essentially a casserole of potatoes, onions, and lardon (thick-cut bacon) served with a slab of, you guessed it, more melted cheese cooked right over it.

If you find yourself in an alpine pasture hankering for a pique-nique, rather than seated at a fine dining establishment, don't worry, cheese is great for a basket-lunch too. Bring along a baguette and a saucisson, and you've got yourself a meal.

No meal in Reçueçn is complete without a glass of wine, and the local product is certainly worth the connoisseur's time. Reçuecian wine varies immensely depending on whether you're south, west, or north of the Alps, so try a few varieties and pick your favorite. If you need a pairing for your meal, it just so happens that every single person you meet on the street in the country is a self-proclaimed expert ready with helpful advice. Just don't stop them on their way home for dinner.

Do's and Don't's
Do say "Bonjour" to those you pass, if you're in a small town. Don't block the passageway in the metro if you're in the city. Do take your time to enjoy a meal or a conversation in western Reçueçn. Don't be late in eastern Reçueçn. Do greet people with a kiss on each cheek. Don't actually let your lips touch them. Do cheer loudly for your team! Don't insult the Unicorns in front of their fans. Do take a selfie with your head on the block at execution square in downtown Reçueçn. Don't miss out on your visit because you're on your phone the whole time. Do rent a bike and pedal around to see the sights. Don't be unprepared to parallel park if you've rented a car. Do make eye contact during a conversation. Don't stare at people. Do be ready to share gossip with perfect strangers. Don't expect people to open up to you right away. Do keep your hands above the table at dinner. Don't yawn when someone's talking to you. Do offer to help your host with cleaning up. Don't ask for seconds until offered. Do speak your mind and be straightforward.[ b]Don't[/b] bank on too much personal space.

Do have the time of your life.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

The departure of Kasper Molak under very humiliating circumstances (namely following the shock defeat by Abanhfleft at the hands of whipping boys Braxil) has marked the end of an era in the national team's history. Holly Jonasson, the Armeian-Anglatian named as Molak's successor, managed to lead the team to third place in their qualifying group in WC 74 and a quarterfinals spot in Cup of Harmony 66, but the men's team was not overly keen in having Jonasson at the helm of their team, and so for the first time in their history as a member of the NationStates World Cup, Abanhfleft will be having separate managers for the men's and women's teams. Ranulph Bustamante, who was an assistant manager under Molak's tenure, becomes the men's new manager, while Jonasson keeps her spot as the women's team's manager. Bustamante has promised to follow in his predecessor's footsteps with regards to playing attractive attacking football, and while his tactics have translated well to the field, there is still the matter of getting past the group stage of the World Cup finals. And there are also rumors floating around that this could very well be Bustamante's final shot at a World Cup. Can Bustamante finally get his boys to get over that particular hump this time? Or will the group stage prove to be the furthest that the Fleftics can get? Only time will tell...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.5
Formation: 4-3-1-2
Head coach: Ranulph Bustamante (56 y/o, Abanhfleft)

STARTERS
GK: Carlos COHEN 33 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image, co-captain
Carlos did pretty well for himself while he starred in the Di Bradini Cup in Abanhfleft's first few sporting forays into the greater multiverse. But once he became ineligible for the Di Bradini Cup due to his age, he found his struggle to break through the senior national team blocked by the very same obstacle which was blocking his ascension to the first team of Sporting Ceneisis: none other than the Blues' stalwart goalkeeper and captain Maksim Varamoninov. The long-limbed and long-necked keeper held down Ceneisis' number one spot for so many years that Carlos must have surely contemplated moving to another club just to become first-choice keeper. But then Fluvique and Mevosa came swooping in with a big offer for Big Maksim and both Maksim and Ceneisis were crazy not to accept the offer, and that is the story of how Carlos Cohen finally became Ceneisis' number one. Sure, Maksim came back to Abanhfleft after a few years when a Catastrophic Termination Event swept through Fluvique but he signed for Arsenal de Releinthi instead so Carlos continues to be Ceneisis' number one.

LB: Daisuke OGIGAYATSU 29 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Image
Daisuke Ogigayatsu is the younger brother of Flardanian striker Eriko Ogigayatsu, who is one of the star strikers of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies (alongside Zsofia Dolan and Tess Byquist). Daisuke is the only member of the Ogigayatsu family who was born in Abanhfleft, which made him eligible to represent the country by nature of the law which automatically grants Fleftic citizenship to everyone born within Fleftic borders. Daisuke is a speedy fullback whose bags of pace allow him to keep up with the offense of the team while at the same time not shirking from his defensive responsibilities. So far, he's been overlooked by the SFA, but Heinrich Wurzmann hopes that Daisuke will shine enough in the Independents Cup to warrant a real call-up for the real national team. That hope has now come true come the World Cup 77 qualifiers.

LCB: Ainsley GIBSON 29 y/o, 1830 Cathair Image (Audioslavia)
Gibson has large shoes to fill in following the graduation of Rory Edwards to the senior team and Celerino delos Reyes' decision to give the captain's armband to Gibson. Perhaps delos Reyes would have been better off if he had given the armband to Cedric Pearson or Joe Warren, but after Gibson's commanding performance as captain of the under-18s, Owen Bevan would have none of it. Gibson is a speedy center-back, which used to serve as the perfect foil to Kristin Pittmann's rock-solid presence on the pitch, but with Pittmann now ineligible, he's had to work hard to limit his attacking runs, especially now that this tendency of his was exploited by Pasarga in that fateful round of 16 matchup. Somehow managed to get a move from mid-table Submarin Yeralenko in Pridnestrovia to Audioslavia's 1830 Cathair despite all that.

RCB: Horace POPOV 28 y/o, Farrenton Athletic Image (Eura)
A member of the Fleftic under-21 team's backroom staff happened upon Popov while playing Championship Football Manager and noticed that the kid had high defensive potential. Popov is still a diamond in the rough, but some experience under the wing of Melisizwe Afolayan could see him become a potential star. Whether it's for his mother's homeland Abanhfleft or his birth country Pridnestrovia still remains to be seen, but for now, while he's still under the age of 21, he's Abanhfleft's man. With Afolayan now ineligible, it's up to Popov to make an impact that will keep him in a white shirt. Injuries to Jordan Cervantes and Holland Emilianovski have necessitated Popov's inclusion into the senior team where he hopes to make a very good impact.

RB: Melisizwe AFOLAYAN 30 y/o, Locomotive Imgortur Image
Afolayan is a no-nonsense defender that doesn't take being skilled around by the opponent lightly. If the opponent begins skilling his or her way around Afolayan then he will just stick out a leg and trip over the opponent, which has led to a disciplinary record filled with yellow cards and the occasional red card. The Rodrigues management claims that Afolayan has the potential to be a wing-back due to his high offensive work rate, but only time will tell if this will become true. Signed by Locomotive Imgortur as a long-term replacement for Charles Amoroso and was a fixture in Abanhfleft's early Di Bradini squads before finally making the cut with the senior national team.

LM: Andrea MARILUNGO 29 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Malabon is not generally considered to have one of the better football academies within the Fleftic football system, and Adelmio Bandini isn't also noted for being the type of manager to promote from within the club, but Marilungo proved to be the exception to both these rules. Although he's more of a central midfielder for Malabon, his wicked good left foot means that Ranulph Bustamante has put in the left midfield where he can put his defensive qualities to good use and cover for his fellow youngsters Daisuke Ogigayatsu and Kenneth Owobowale. But that doesn't mean Marilungo can't come forward and help on the offense as well.

CM: Luĉjo Miĥaelo KLEINMANN 27 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Kleinmann is finally in the starting eleven of a Fleftic national team, much to the relief of Malabon SC fanboys as well as Kleinmann fanboys even thought it's not the official starting eleven of Ranulph Bustamante. Everyone knows how good he is as a central defensive mid, and now he has proven that he can do it on a regular basis after finally earning the starting spot that the now-ineligible Joe Warren once occupied. Well, except for the fact that he was completely and utterly shit in the big game against Pasarga. Is he really as good as people think he is, or is he just another hyped-up talent who can't perform in the big games? Everyone from Ranulph Bustamante to the armchair managers sitting at home in Abanhfleft will soon find out.

RM: Cedric PEARSON 31 y/o, Samaj FC Image (Cosumar)
One of the four remaining starters of the original Fleftic Di Bradini squad, Pearson used to be one of the more questionable choices in the starting eleven back when the under-21s first competed in international football, but with age and experience he is starting to prove his doubters wrong, but with a history of being injury-prone Pearson hasn't been able to show good performances for an entire season. His presence will help lock up the midfield, but if he gets injured the Fleftic right side will prove vulnerable. Ced eventually grew tired of being constantly in a relegation battle with Bananas FC and decided to move to Cosumar's Samaj FC when the opportunity came knocking despite interest from FC Brimstone over in Apox as well.

CAM: Rory EDWARDS 32 y/o, Riuwiee United Image, co-captain
Consistent for the three years that he'd been playing for the under-21s but never quite managing to lead them to the title, the younger Edwards sibling has made his mark, but will certainly look to make that mark bigger with his inclusion into the first team of the senior squad. His main job will be feeding Potter and Kelvin, but he can and does score some goals from his position. He has the future to be either a false 9 or an actual striker in his own right.

CF: Kareem DAGEN 27 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Image
Dagen can be described as the breakout player of the first Sporting World Cup, scoring 10 goals and leading Abanhfleft to second place in the aforementioned tournament. His amazing performance as a striker led to his signing by Eikborg Club, a Semarlandish club competing in the Globe Cup, making him the first ever Fleftic player to sign for a foreign league other than Pridnestrovia, Oontaz Dert Li Ng and Copper Cuprum. Dagen's quality performance in the Sporting World Cup also earned him a starting spot in the Fleftic under-21s, over the likes of Garrett Krantz and Irina Babarushchik. Now he's starting because those other players are now ineligible as well. After a few years with Eikborg, Dagen has gone back to Rosenpfelblatz on the promise of first team minutes and playing alongside the likes of Max Fetfatzidis and Oliver Ganson.

CF: Vitaly ZIMA 28 y/o, Imperial Markovsky Image
Vitaly Zima is the twin brother of Arkadi Zima of Revolutionary Nordskania, and they've had quite a contentious relationship outside of football. Vitaly is a one-dimensional striker who is good at getting into spaces and poaching the ball in dangerous areas, but other than that, he's not a remarkable player. No one's really sure why Vitaly has been included to the Independents Cup squad, except maybe to provide a contrast to his more prominent brother Arkadi, who's made a lot of waves recently. He scored goals in the Independents Cup and made himself look like a world-class striker so that has to explain why he was included in the qualifying pool. Now starting in the World Cup proper in place of the recovering Kevin Kelvin.

RESERVES
GK: Guildenstern CARDEW 22 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image
Guildenstern Cardew is the younger brother of former Panem striker Silvia Cardew. After Panem was enveloped by a mysterious Catastrophic Termination Event (or CTE), the Cardews eventually managed to wind up on the shores of the Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony along with a large number of their fellow Panemian nationals. Guildenstern was eventually picked up by Besanza Emeralds FC of the Fhulghamousian Premier League. Guildenstern decided to emulate his Panemian idol Walnut Durant and become a goalkeeper even though his sister Silvia is a striker. Guildenstern is also very close friends with Marius Rosenkrantz the soccer player but never got around to telling Marius his true feelings until it was too late. Will this affect him throughout the qualification period?

GK: Roy RINEY 21 y/o, New Llama Capitals Image (Super-Llamaland)
Now this is probably a sight that you didn't expect to see; a 17-year-old among a bunch of mostly twenty-years-plus players with the odd teenager here and there. Roy is the youngest member of Ranulph Bustamante's experimental Independents Cup squad but not by a big margin as the next-youngest player to him is fellow reserve goalkeeper Guildenstern Cardew. Usually, people would be questioning the inclusion of such a young player in a representative football team but once Ranulph Bustamante took over managing Abanhfleft and unearthed such gems as Robin Riedewald and Tanaka Okamoto, no one questions his decisions anymore. Besides, Riney must have done something right for Ranulph to even consider calling him up, even if it is just for the Independents Cup. Not that Ranulph thinks that the Independents Cup is a nothing trophy; it's still a trophy after all for those nations who aren't affiliated with the Big Three regions of Esportiva, Rushmore, and Atlantian Oceania.

RB: Rohan SMITH 29 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Image
The signing of Rohan Smith by Arsenal de Releinthi made news back in the day, mostly because of how much Arsenal persisted in making sure the deal crossed the line and Smith put pen to paper. How an 18-year-old in the depths of non-league could warrant such a long and extended pursuit had many pundits and armchair managers scratching their heads, but more than a decade later, those same pundits and armchair managers are now singing Smith's praises, especially during Arsenal de Releinthi's back-to-back title-winning seasons just a few years ago. Ranulph Bustamante will expect Smith to continue his defensive solidity throughout the qualifiers.

CB: Charles VIGER 29 y/o, AFC Langtree Image (Mercedini)
Charlie Viger used to be one of the brightest prospects among defenders in the under-18 group of both Fleftic and Pridnestrovian players and was already knocking on the door of the first team of Vorpommern Nyqvist of the Pridnestrovian Super League looking to become one of the team and league's best young defenders. Then the final of the first ever Sporting World Cup happened and Charlie was part of the Abanhfleft team that conceded five goals against eventual champions Semarland. Charlie's confidence took a very noticeable nosedive and everything that marked him out as a defender for the future vanished and he was eventually released by the club, ending up across the Rheinsee with Kesselburger Kickers. But Ranulph Bustamante still must see the potential in Charlie to warrant an inclusion with the Independents Cup squad. Perhaps Ranulph hopes to re-unearth Charlie's once-again-hidden talent.

LB: Caleb WAYNE 25 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Image
Caleb isn't a regular starter for any of the junior squads before this, but the few substitute appearances that he made from the bench earned him a big money move to Fluvique's Darwin City (3 million NSD, to be exact). Like many of the defensive players coming through Abanhfleft's academies in recent times, Caleb is a defender, specifically a left back, who likes to bomb forward when the opportunity arises, although he does do his defensive duties as well if called upon, thus giving him the potential to be a wingback or even a winger. He's also quite good in the air and could be relied on when defending set pieces or winning air balls. Now plays for Wanda Island Wanderers after a Catastrophic Termination Event engulfed Fluvique and left him among one of the few survivors.

DM: Andor GAÁL 25 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Lucjo Kleinmann's fellow Malabonian "wunderkind" is finally stepping up to the plate after spending a lot of time languishing on the bench of the under-18 and under-21 teams. But unlike Lucjo, who is the kind of central midfielder who gets in between the opposition's passing lanes and works to disrupt their offensive rhythm and win the ball, Andor is more of a box-to-box midfielder, chipping in on defensive duties when needed and ready to restart the attack when the ball gets poked out of the final third by the opponents. He's also good for a long-range shot, especially from his left foot, and he has scored his fair share of screamers. He will look to do so for his country on the senior level thanks to Ranulph Bustamante's belief in his ability.

CM: DeAngelo LEVIN 29 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Image
It's been eight years since DeAngelo Levin last wore an Abanhfleft team jersey, eight long years for some people. But after his impressive performances helping Ludogorets Markovsky to their third Fleftic Premier League title and with many of Abanhfleft's old stalwarts hanging up their boots, Levin has been called back to duty by Ranulph Bustamante, and while he will look to play a supporting role in the qualifiers, depending on what happens Levin could just find yet another chance to make it back to the Revolutionaries' starting eleven.

CM: Toumain VINCELOT 30 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Image
Toumain Vincelot is originally from the Anglatian colony of Patierre. His family fled to Abanhfleft after the Anglatians removed the Communist presence in the colony because the Vincelots had been known socialist sympathizers, although Toumain himself is apolitical. Vincelot is a tough, no-nonsense defensive-minded midfielder and will think nothing of going in for the sliding tackle if it meant breaking up the opposition's attack. Following stellar performances in the Independents Cup in Bonesea (including at least two Man of the Match awards), Vincelot has been called up to the senior national squad to replace the injured Alan Turpentine. Now sidelined for the entirety of the World Cup due to an injury sustained during a match against Revolutionary Nordskania.

CAM: Omar EL SALAH 29 y/o, General Santos FC Image (Oontaz), on loan from Arsenal de Releinthi Image
Arsenal and Godric Wexler have always had a reputation for producing good players from their academy's ranks, and while Omar El Salah hasn't been on anyone's radars before last season, when El Salah came out to play in a few Premier League games to fill in for the injured Elliot Edison, and he has proven to be one of the better things about Arsenal's disappointing season. He scored his debut goal against Marinos Thimpodopoulos to give them a victory against their bogey team, and then El Salah scored his first goal in the Monsanto Stadium against Kimmirut Panhandle, the team that had knocked them out of the SFA Cup just a week earlier. El Salah is speedy and has great composure and finishing which belies his young age, but with many other good players ahead of him, he will have to wait for a few games before earning his first cap.

FW: Arthur MacALISTAIR 25 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Image
Arthur started his career as a left-sided midfielder but eventually found himself becoming a great winger, even if just for the under-18 and under-21 squad. His few substitute appearances during the latest Di Bradini Cup earned him a move to Fluvique's Athletic, where is now getting some more first-team minutes than he could have possibly expected from his first club. Owen Bevan got the most out of Arthur in the second Sporting World Cup as a winger, but was shifted back in deep midfield by Celerino delos Reyes, but for his first senior team roster mention, he's expected to be at least a winger once again. Replaces the totally and completely unused Yoshinobu Mori.

FW: Mustafa BENSOUSSAN 20 y/o, Bananas FC Image
With four goals in four games for Abanhfleft's most recent Di Bradini Cup, it was pretty much guaranteed that Bensoussan was going to get called up to the senior team sooner or later, and herein lies the proof. As always with his bench players, Ranulph Bustamante expects Bensoussan to take up the slack for when either Kareem Dagen or Vitaly Zima are subbed off, but he Bensoussan could also expect to get the occasional start or two if either Abanhfleft is flying high or the team's two starting strikers are struggling for form.

FW: Damian SELIKOV 26 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Image
Damian Selikov holds a strange place in the hearts and minds of many Ludogorets fans. He's not the best striker their team has ever had, but he's far from being the worst either. The fanbase is also equally split on whether he is a big-game player or not; those who love him say that he always turns up for the big games while those who hate him claim that Selikov always disappears during the big games. It's come to the point where Markovskites have a saying about him: "He will always make you go crazy, but you never know if it's a good thing or a bad thing." Nonetheless, Selikov appears to have won over the entire fanbase after his deciding goal against Admiral Porcusces won Ludogorets both the game and the Fleftic Premier League title. At the moment though, nobody has any idea how Ranulph Bustamante hopes to utilize him for the national team.

STADIUMS
All football stadiums in Abanhfleft now have seats following a mandatory upgrade in 2000, but despite this ruling, many, if not all, stadiums still allow standing spectators during matches. However, in anticipation for World Cup qualifying matches, more security forces had been hired by the authorities to make sure that there are no standing spectators in such games.

Capacity: est. 67,000
Record attendance: 72,308 (Riuwiee United vs. Wanda Island Wanderers; June 3, 2009)
Operator: Riuwiee United FC
Short history: The May 26 Stadium, originally known as Raschner Lane, and later on as Riuwiee National Stadium, was built in 1886 as a cricket ground, and it served as home for two semi-pro cricket teams before it was bought by the Riuwiee Capitals football team, which will later on become Riuwiee United. After the conclusion of the Catholic Revolution of 2008, the national government bought the controlling share of Riuwiee National Stadium and renamed it the May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium, in commemoration of the May 26 Revolution that eventually established the nation of Abanhfleft. Riuwiee United still play in the May 26 Stadium, but now it is also the chosen stadium for home games by the Fleftic national football team.

Short history: The State of Wanda Island demolished the old Wanda Island Arena in 1998 to make way for a new and improved football stadium that follows international standards. Construction began in 1999, and finished just in time for the beginning of the 2001 Premier League season. The Wanderers played in a nearby high school athletic field for the duration of the arena's construction. In 2010, when IKEA entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Wanderers, the arena was consequently called IKEA Arena for sponsorship reasons. This agreement is expected to continue until 2020, after both sides came to a six-year contract extension.

Record attendance: 56,555 (Arsenal de Releinthi vs. Admiral Porcusces; January 7, 2013)
Operator: FC Arsenal de Releinthi
Short history: Arsenal de Releinthi mooted moving to a new stadium ever since 1993, but it was only in 2002 that the club managed to get permission to begin construction on the site of a former landfill after disputes with the city council and land planning office. Even then, it was only after Monsanto agreed to shoulder the cost of the new stadium that it was even built, and because of this, the stadium was named Monsanto Stadium. Arsenal de Releinthi and Monsanto entered into a seven-year contract extension this year, potentially extending Monsanto's sponsorship of the club up to 2021.

SavojarSports.sj - inside reports from all Savojarna
Jurtanen ready to prove himself

Sjoedrhavn - The gender separation that is traditional in Savojar football came under fire in the last three years, in which the male team had shown a disastrous WC 81 campaign followed by the women's surprising Copa victory and a near-miss in WC82. This development left many defenders of the old order gasping - and amidst it, a young coach simply decided to sweep it away when it comes to the national team. Olaf Jurtanen, coach of the Savojar "Men's" team, stated in the pre-CR press conference: "It is simply my goal to assemble the best players of the country. Some happen to be women. If they're better than the guys, they should play". Jurtanen has already upended Savojarna's football by building his team around the fast wingers Jashkin and Voynov, leaving them a lot of freedom in a 4-2-2-2 formation with a staggered top. With the Copa campaign ending in a quarterfinal out against regional and political rival and favourite Eura, Jurtanen has managed to convince the authorities of his new approach. The Finn got to prove his new approach on the big stage, and if the Savojar team is (remotely) successful, it will probably be here to stay.

PLAYSTYLE
The new Savojar style is very fluid, based on the 4-2-2-2 and a lot of movement between the positions. Both strikers can play on the wing or as playmakers as well (although Karjanen is better at it than Sigurdsdottir), and the wingers are good strikers and scorers. They often share playmaking duties with Nick Hoyman, who advances when Savojarna have the ball, transforming the formation into something akin to a 4-4-2 diamond. In offence, the team operates a lot with through passes or crossings towards their tall forwards. In defence, the Savojars play an aggressive pressing, often devolving into a hard man-to-man marking style in their own half. They play very physical and are in top condition when it comes to both speed and strength, as Savojar football often emphasises physical capability over technical finesse.

PLAYERS

GK: Petrova, Jarnström, Larsen
Petrova and Jarnström are the respective number ones of their gendered teams and play together for the first time. Thanks to the women's recent success, Petrova is expected to start, but Jarnström would be an almost equal replacement if she gets injured and is likely to play the third match of the group stage if Savojarna have qualified by then. They are both tall, reactive keepers who play primarily on the line, but may come out to intercept a crossing occasionally. Larsen is unlikely to play barring an emergency, but has a similar style, albeit a bit more proactive.

Centre-backs: Omark, Kjaer, Metanov, Forsberg
Omark is a strategically smart and ball-secure modern CB. He will secure the ball and organise the game from the back together with Kjaer, who has a similar playstyle. Metanov is a more old-school back who is primarily defensive minded and has a safety-first style. If he gets to the ball, he often clears it far out or feeds it to the midfielders as soon as possible. Metanov is also the slowest and most physical of all backs and most likely to get a foul. Forsberg is reminiscent of Omark and Kjaer, but notably younger and less secure. He is a superb header and will join the attack on standards.

Wingbacks: Jensen, Midström, Nurkanen, Arjonsson
All Savojar wingbacks are fast runners and excellent crossers, meaning that they will often join the attack when the situation allows for it. Jensen is a strong tackler and hard to get past, often persistently marking his opponent even if he lost a duel and trying to fight his way back. Midström is somewhat slower due to her age, and won't be able to play 90 minutes at high speed, but is strategically the best of the four and has a deadly cross. Nurkanen is very fast and a precise tackler, as well as having good judgment in building up plays. He often overlaps dangerously. Arjonsson is the most defensive of all, staying back often and being a very strong defender that is hard to get rid of. He also has a very strong distance shot.

Central Midfield: Andersson, Hoyman, Maersk, Otalainen, Hytönen
Andersson is the defensive anchor point of the Savojar midfield. He is not very fast, but has excellent judgment and tackling skills, making him the pivot of the defence. He will often drop back between the two CB's if Savojarna have the ball and secure the defence to allow the wingbacks to overlap. Next to him, Hoyman plays a regista role similar to Andrea Pirlo, organising the game from the back. He is also a very strong header, which means that he will often go up for standards. Maersk is a more classical box-to-box allrounder who is strong in most tasks and has a high stamina and speed. Otalainen and Hytönen are similar in their positions: classical playmakers who have superb passing and can play both in the box and in the offensive half or on the wing, but are a bit weaker defensively. They are likely to be subbed in if Savojarna need more attack power, or for a striker if the system is switched to a 4-4-1-1 to provide more defensive stability.

Wingers: Voynov, Jashkin, Jarkasjärvi, Mertonen
Voynov and Jashkin are both hybrid wingers with a great technical skill, using their speed and individual technique to act as extra strikers. Nevertheless, they both possess good crossing skills too, although they usually try to score assists with low through passes into the box. Especially if the wingers overlap, Voynov and Jashkin will swing inside. Jarkasjärvi provides a similar, albeit more well-rounded, style. She is a bit slower, but more versatile, and can play on both sides. Mertonen is a more classical winger who often sticks a bit more to the sidelines, but can play absolutely deadly crosses.

Strikers: Sigurdsdottir, Karjanen, Jotansson
At 193 cm, Freya Sigurdsdottir is the tallest striker of the Savojar squad. She is a box striker who likes to linger around the edge of the penalty area (or the enemy defence) and then use her speed to position herself in front of the goal for a rebound, cross or through pass. Expect her to score many goals especially against smaller opponents. Karjanen is the polar opposite, as he uses his speed and technique to make up for his lower height. He often drops back into the space between the defence and the midfield to wait for balls and play in a combi with either winger or with Sigurdsdottir. The two play in a staggered formation, with Karjanen at the back, transforming the team almost into a 4-3-3 (with the two wingers and Sigurdsdottir as the top three) at times. Jotansson can assume either role, but is more at home in the box. He is a tall, physical striker who is nowhere as fast as Sigurdsdottir or Karjanen, but very hard to separate from the ball and has a strong shot as well as a good eye for his teammates.

I will consider my permissions broken if you don't though, and not accept the act (from Savojarna's POV, it never happened - it is up to you whether it actually didn't happen or if the Savojars are lying...)

Sajnuran National Football Team

Stadiums

National Stadium

The National Stadium is the largest stadium in Sajnur, with a capacity of 102,000 people. Located in the capital city of Javoser, home to more than 12.5 million people, it is the primary arena for big sporting events in the country, hosting a semi-final and most finals of Sajnur’s FA Cup, several finals of the Tarvolan League, tarvolan being a code of football indigenous to Sajnur and traditionally Sajnur’s biggest sport, and three qualifiers for the 82nd World Cup. It has also hosted the biggest of Sajnur’s concerts and the inaugurations of two Presidents.

Built in 1952 and renovated in 2015, the stadium has a retractable roof, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and affordable food and drink options to provide a comfortable experience for all fans while the stadium has been designed to allow fans to produce a raucous atmosphere befitting of large sporting events. The stadium is easily accessible by public transport, and has thousands of parking spaces for those who choose to arrive in their own vehicles.

Niurka Stadium

Home of FK Khadur, arguably Sajnur’s biggest football club, Niurka Stadium is located in the Khadur area of Ciarkhan, a bustling metropolis of 4.6 million people that serves as Laghia’s state capital. Laghia was a territory acquired by Sajnur in a war stretching from 1982 to 1996, and is the Laghian people popularised football in Sajnur. As a result, the province has eight of Sajnur’s 32 professional football clubs despite having only 1/8 of the country’s population, and Niurka Stadium hosts the other semi-final and some finals of Sajnur’s FA Cup.

The stadium, built in 2006, was named after Nicolae Niurka, who was a Laghian partisan that served as a general against Laghia’s pre-1982 rulers and was killed in combat in 1995, aged just 46. With a capacity of 73,000, it is the largest stadium used by a team in the Sajnuran Premier League. Like the National Stadium, it has a retractable roof, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of affordable food and drink options, with many food options being traditional to Laghia. The stadium is easily accessible by public transport, but parking space may be limited on particularly busy days.

Queen Haqla Stadium

Queen Haqla Stadium is a 60,000 seat stadium near the centre of Roskjepa, the capital of Delta state and, with 6.7 million people, the second largest in Sajnur. Home to Rivers FC, the stadium is a regular venue for intimidating displays from Rivers fans, with flares, aggressive chanting, and large banners being a common sight, especially in derbies between Rivers and cross-town rivals Stormers FC.

The stadium was built in 1960 and renovated in 2016, and has all the amenities of the National and Niurka stadiums, while being a prominent sight on the Jagaroi River. As such, along with bus and train, the stadium is also accessible by the Jagaroi River’s ferry. However, like in Ciarkhan, access by car may be difficult. Queen Haqla, for whom the stadium is named, reigned over Sajnur from 681 to her death in 727.

Siyaka Island Stadium

Siyaka Island Stadium is the largest stadium in the Alonian states, with 66,000 people able to fit within its confines. Located in the outskirts of Tawqush, a city of about 5.4 million serving as the capital of Archipelago state, the stadium is the home of FC Mazigh, the foremost football club in the Alonian states. Fans on Siyaka Island often bring instruments to matches, ranging from the arghul to large drums to even accordions, posing both as support to those they like and a distraction for those who they wish to lose.

The stadium is the newest of the four national stadiums, being built in 2017 on what was the Majar port before it was bombed by the Sajnuran navy during a war that stretched from 1990-2003. The stadium is easily accessible by both car and public transport, and with the New Majar port being built as part of the stadium development, coastal and island hopping ferries can also stop right outside the stadium.

WC Record: 114-27-36 (wins/draws/losses)
Overall Record: 146-36-54 (wins/draws/losses)
Formation: 4-4-2

Venue: Capitalizt Dome, Chromatk City, Chromatika (144,000)

CURRENT TEAM INFORMATION
An era has passed. A staggering nine players have retired, including two of the three center midfielders and two of the defenders. There is a lawsuit between the Chromatik Football Federation and some of the politicians, with the Chromatik League currently on hiatus. Chromatika hasn't participated since World Cup 81, where they bowed out modestly in the World Cup Proper Group Stage, having also skipped the last AOCAF. Now, the Chromatiks get back to the pitch, looking to prove that they still have what it takes no matter what the situation is in their nation - that's how this all started, right?

MANAGEMENT

MANAGER
Image Silian Parker, 58 WC Record: 83-12-14 Overall Record: 103-17-23
It feels like an age ago now, the moment when Silian Parker had to step in after Lisa Amos left immediately after taking over for the late Franscesca Cortes after the days of the Rainbow Revolution. The mad genius has done it all with the team - led them to their first AOCAF title, finished fourth at the World Cup, and even crashed out in the Proper Group Stage. He's run a 4-4-2, innovated to a 3-5-2, and considered quite a few other options. With the recent developments between the Chromatik Football Federation, the Chromatik League, and the radical politicians, there are rumors that this is Parker's last hurrah, unless results are unexpectedly good. Forever the tactician who leads from the sidelines with quiet, few, well-spoken words, there is no way to quite know if the stress is getting to him, but he seems even more aloof than ever. Will this be the last time Parker leads the team?

TEAM PHYSICIAN
Image Zoe "Z" Benne, 33
After graduating summa cum laude from Chromatik City College University with a degree in Sports Physiology, Zoe, affectionately called "Z" by her peers, worked at the Capitalizt Dome until the CFF came calling. Strikingly beautiful and fit, nobody would question her if she put on the uniform herself and went out on the pitch; her physique definitely belong out there. Smart, calculating, and personable, there were actually some concerns about her becoming a visual distraction to the players, which were shot down quickly by her professionalism and integrity. That being said, the Chromatik locker room will be... a bit more spicy than before. The players have done an admirable job of keeping things professional between them, which has allowed her to perform her duties without a problem. It is hard to believe that the team didn't have a physio for a long time. Now rumored to be dating a now-retired Erika Morningstar - much to the conservative Chromatik media's chagrin - "Z" has really settled into her role.

PLAYERS
Players numbered 1-11 starters.

GOALKEEPERS
1. Jillian NIER, 32 | Image Pelethas United | 6 ft 1 in | Caps: 71 Goals Allowed: 97
12. Mia RIA, 26 | Teamless | 5 ft 10 in | Caps: 41 Goals Allowed: 44
23. Nova WILLIAMS, 26 | Teamless | 6 ft 7 in | Goals: 12 Goals Allowed: 8
Jillian Nier may be nearing the twilight of her career, but she remains as focused as ever. The once-prodigy to the now departed Nikolai Thorben, Nier's capacity to turn on any situation on a dime has been called upon numerous times. Forever her backup is one Mia Ria, now lacking a team after leaving the Isles of Avon. Ria may be a bit shorter, but has the intangibles. Nova Williams rounds out the group - a team player who knows how to speak to others with clarity and authority. As this is reportedly Nier's last World Cup, she will be given all the important matches - but if needed, Ria can step in without an issue.

RIGHT BACKS
2. Olivia AN, 31 | Teamless | 5 ft 11 in | Caps: 20
13. Aiofe RUTH, 29 | Teamless | 6 ft 4 in| Caps: 18
24. Zheide MCBEE, 26 | Image Raikennax Charge | 6 ft 4 in | Caps: 14
Erika Morningstar has sailed off to the sunset - or right by the arms of one Z Benne, if rumors can be believed. She of the 155 caps is now being replaced by a trio of backs who combined have 52 caps. Olivia An the physical presence, Aoife Ruth the pacing back, and Zheide McBee the aerial specialist. It's not apparent who is the best of the three; right back remains one of the biggest question marks heading into the tournament. The trio of women are excited for the opportunity, though, and Morningstar is always around if they need any tips.

CENTER BACKS
3. Henri DE AEA, 21 | Image Holdenberg | 6 ft 7 in | Caps: 16
4. Yeri IBEX, 29 | Image Chenoworth Rovers | 6 ft 1 in | Caps: 15
14. Cierra ANDERSON, 24 | Teamless | 5 ft 4 in | Caps: 20
15. Kattie WILL, 25 | Teamless | 6 ft 2 in | Caps: 3
25. Nicole FRIEDMAN, 26 | Teamless | 6 ft 4 in | Uncapped
26. Theodore RONDEAU, 24 | Teamless | 5 ft 9 in | Uncapped
Continuing the trend, gone are Luuk Aart and Lucjusz Stef, and their combined 285 caps. Now that Chromatika has switched back to a more traditional 4-4-2, a deeper center back roster is needed. Henri de Aea has been shining at Holdenberg of Eura, having been longlisted by the Galacticos Index. Tall and stocky, de Aea is a well-spoken young man who is a master in the air and a sure tackler. Yeri Ibex switched leagues from the Pasargan SuperLiga to the Nepharim Premiership, plying a trade of speed and marking his man. Cierra Anderson takes a gander at playing center back, still the best crosser of the bunch, while Kattie Will was one of the stars of the nation when she was a bit younger. Will is one who fits Aart's mold of annoying her opponents to frustration. Rounding out the roster are Nicole Friedman and Theodore Rondeau, two of the better defenders of the new defunct Chromatik League. Friedman is very good off of set pieces - especially corners - while Rondeau is a short, stocky man who can make a mean tackle. It is obvious that de Aea is going to be the new face of the Chromatik defense, but who will be joining him there is one of the questions to be answered this cycle.

LEFT BACKS
5. Valence ILYA, 26 | Image Eastweald | 6 ft 5 in | Caps: 25
16. Aysu DAMJANA, 33 |Image Vermillion Rage | 6 ft 7 in | Caps: 93
27. Miles AUSTIC, 26 | Teamless | 6 ft 2 in | Caps: 15
The time has come for Valence Ilya to take the mantle, and Aysu hasn't even argued about it, if media is to be believed. Now shining at the Harlighet Ligen's Eastweald, he has come to his own. Not that Damjana has fallen off - she's a physical enforcer who can still put a lick on anyone who dares to come by. Austic still needs some work, but he's here to mostly learn, even with fifteen caps under his belt. He has decent pace, solid jumping skills, and a good head.

RIGHT MIDFIELDERS
6. Molly THORBEN, 25 | Image Canterlot Stars | 5 ft 10 in | Caps: 37 Goals: 4
17. Whitney KELLY, 26 | Image Port Patrick United | 5 ft 11 in | Caps: 17 Goals: 4
28. Laure ETIENNE, 30 | Teamless | 5 ft 11 | Caps: 36 Goals: 3
Meagan Kelly and Trenn Rien are gone to the wind. The younger Thorben is more of a possessive midfielder who uses crisp passing instead of the speed that Kelly used to bring. The younger Kelly is there to change up the pace as needed, though. Laure Etienne is the old reliable backup who has a steady rate of pay and quick wit that leads to rapid decision making. With the team switching back to a 4-4-2, the side mids will need to do a lot more of the playmaking; it remains to be seen if Thorben is up to task.

CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS
7. Hermaeus MORA, 23 | Teamless | 5 ft 10 in | Caps: 27 Goals: 2
8. Mimi KUZAMI, 25 | Image Cedina Beach AFC | 5 ft 2 in | Caps: 32 Goals: 6
18. Enigma ARMAGEDDON, 22 | Image Hoventon & Corlington Town | 6 ft 2 in | Caps: 29 Goals: 10
19. Alyss MONTAGUE, 30 | Image Brinesmouth | 5 ft 5 in | Caps: 106 Goals: 15
29. Drew LIMONES, 26 | Teamless | 6 ft 1 in | Caps: 13
30. Kai DIAS, 27 | Teamless | 6 ft 3 in | Uncapped
Of the trio that were Hellion, Sybill, and Montague, only Montague remain, and in reserve capacity. Hermaeus Mora takes the mantle of being a starter as more of an attacking midfielder with risk-taking play, while Mimi Kuzami has learned to use her blazing speed to go back and forth between the defense and the offense. Enigma Armageddon the one-eyed field general can often be heard calling out plays on and off the field, while Alyss is still here, sporting quality shots and field experience. Drew Limones and Kai Dias are two more defensive-minded players who aren't expected to play much except through substitutions as needed, as they are more used to helping out the back four.

LEFT MIDFIELDERS
9. Jazmin DRAGANA, 30 | Image Brinemouth | 5 ft 11 in | Caps: 81 Goals: 16
20. Ga-yeong HAN, 24 | Image North Laithland | 5 ft 3 in | Caps: 21 Goals: 3
31. Retta CONRAD, 25 | Image Belgrave | 5 ft 9 in | Uncapped
43. Xi XE, 28 | Teamless | Caps: 27 Goals: 13
44. Andréa CROIX-PIERRE, 22 | Teamless | 6 ft 7 in | Caps: 10 Goals: 3
Jazmin Dragana is one of the greatest playmakers on the team - knowing when to shift on and off the attack. Now hitting the age of thirty, her speed has not decreased but instead been complemented by experience and wit. Behind her is one Ga-yeong Han, small, fast, quick, and playing with a chip on her shoulder. Han creates one or two moments happen per game, and it's up to the team to take advantage of it. Retta Conrad has been making some noise playing out of Belgrave of the Nepharim First Division, making her living off of ball-handling and finding people in open space. It is a bit odd to see Xi Xe so far down the roster, but her last year was spent at the hospital fighting a rare blood disease. Croix-Pierre can use both feet and head to make plays, and is dying for more minutes on the pitch.

STRIKERS
10. Keira ANDISORI, 29 | Image Starling | 5 ft 3 in | Caps: 126 Goals: 99 CAPTAIN
11. Kaytlyn VICTORIANE, 27 | Image Lammerton | 5 ft 8 in | Caps: 90 Goals: 58
21. Olimpia VIDAL, 24 Image Cazadores Cathair | 5 ft 5 in | Caps: 17 Goals: 12
22. Miranda "Lightning" GAIL, 26 | Image RGS Athletic | 5 ft 1 in | Caps: 31 Goals: 11
32. Rowena SIERRA, 26 | Image Aries Chariots | 5 ft 7 in | Caps: 22 Goals: 12
33. Beaunia ANDISORI, 25 | Image Rozelle United | 5 ft 2 in | Caps: 14 Goals: 12
45. Victorina BIRD, 26 | Teamless | 5 ft 10 in | Caps: 12 Goals: 11
Where they've lost so much due to retirement elsewhere, the striking core of the Chromatik roster remains untouched. Keira Andisori continues to turn in crazy results year after year at Starling, and is one goal away from being the very first Chromatik player to score a hundred goals in their career. Kaytlyn Victoriane? Won the Galacticos award a few years back, no big deal, using speed and brilliant playmaking. Olimpia Vidal is the born finisher, Miranda Gail the in-your-face striker. Rowena Sierra has become one of the most talked about playmakers for Aries Chariots - the supermodel-turned player proving doubters wrong by being at the right place at the right time. Rounding out the core is the younger Andisori and Victorina Bird, both of strong work ethics.

Set Piece Taker: Hermaeus Mora, Retta Conrad.
Most Likely to Commit a Foul: Aysu Damjana, Kai Dias.

THE CHIEFDOM OF COPPER CUPRUM
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the nth time that Copper Cuprum will be participating in the World Cup qualifiers. Copper Cuprum had been long isolated from the international community since it is a small island archipelago located deep in the middle of the Lazarus Ocean, far from any regular shipping lanes since man first sailed ships. The nation was only discovered by the Fleftic Navy in 1914, when they were searching for the daughter of President Rufus Wole Mensah, whose ship was wrecked in the general vicinity of the islands. Arriving in the capital of the islands, they discovered that Chief Zed had made the President's daughter his queen, generating a sudden alliance between the two countries. And Copper Cuprum was also rich in copper, so that was a good thing for Abanhfleft too...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation:
The Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum
Demonym: Copperite
Kits: The Copper Cuprum national football team does not wear any kits as ordinary people know them. Instead they play wearing only white loincloths, studded shoes, shin guards. The keeper also has gloves along with the aforementioned kit.
Team colors: Black and white
Style modifier: +1.00 (A balanced team with a slight focus on offense)
Formation: 4-5-1
Head coach: Jefferson Kalangitan (56 y/o, Oontaz)
Notes: It is Copperite tradition to slit the throat of a live chicken before a game and then spread the spilled blood on the field. However, after the Valladar authorities advised the Copperite Football Federation against performing this tradition after local audiences were shocked by this tradition, it has been decided that in place of this tradition, Copperite players will now cut off the head of a rubber chicken before a game and then toss the head around like a hot potato. However, Copperite players will now perform the chicken sacrificing ritual whether or not the other team likes it. The Copperites hope to turn this tradition into their version of the haka. Also, this is Kalangitan's first head managing job after the Malabon SC assistant manager accepted to take over the Copperite side following the sacking of Duke Dorogi Dorogo due to the team's poor results in the Campionato Esportiva.

Solid right back. Sometimes advances a little too far into the offense to the other backs' liking. Thinks of himself as a wingback, but simply doesn't have the speed or the feet to get quickly between offense and defense and can't make a cross to save his life. Still gets lucky sometimes, though. Might not have the pace that he had back when he was young and so could very easily get caught out of position, something that opposing teams could verily take advantage of.

Backup keeper, currently serving as Temoyo's understudy. Could become next national keeper if something very bad happens to Temoyo. Luck (and time) don't appear to be on his side though as he has been displaced from backup keeper to reserve goalkeeper by Temoyo's actual understudy from Athletic Wa Gon, Nikoba Lobato.

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 83 SQUAD

While the nation took a long break from WCs 8 through 24, the Holy Empire is proud to be the only active nation to have participated in WC 1.

Though it pretends not to be, the nation is equally proud to have won 4 World Cup titles

Due to a mix-up over registration forms and confusion over mainstream WC reality and the 'evil fake' reality where Drawkland won the WC83 host vote (see Group 6), in this tournament, the Holy Empire's squad consists of the Imperial National Beach Soccer team.

They're, like, totally gnarly, dudes (and dudettes; and miscellaneous non-gendered individuals and species).

OOC:
While playing away, the Imperial National Beach Soccer team will follow the normal rules of football in your nation; except that they'll only wear beach shorts (unless legally required to wear a full football kit in your nation; they won't break the law. Please TG me ahead of time if you IC'ly require the team to wear a full kit).

But when you travel to the Imperial Hippodrome, you will be expected to play on sand, and both teams (including your visiting team) will be expected to wear beach wear (or the nearest equivalent in your nation). If your national culture is virulently opposed to playing while only wearing shorts / in a bikini top / the relevant equivalent in your nation, please protest via RP (TG me first if you'd like to build some collaborative RP out of this). Protesting about the sand will, however, get you nowhere.

HEFA have caught on enough to the fact that something has gone wrong that it will otherwise be a normal 11 a side match of football. Just played on sand; in a massive stadium fitted out to a beach feel; while the teams wear beach wear.

The Squad

Goal:
Jorge Tzykandeles

Defence:
Michael Comneno
Constantine Radenuso
John Lascaro

Midfield:
Carlos Pantechnes
Alexius Ducaso
Alejandro Aboures [CAP]
Isaac Branuso
Barsanuphius Camatero

Forwards:
Basil Gabraso
Nicolás Zarides

Substitutes:
Leo Prinkipo [g]
John Nestongo [d]
Juan Pablo Bourtzes [m]
Michael Pselluso [m]
Matthew Mamaluso [f]

Coaches:

The team coach remains World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces

The assistant coach remains Starblaydi World Cup Hall of Fame legend Simeone Di Bradini

Style Modifiers / formation

Frosty football is attacking football. The Holy Empire always plays a 3-5-2 formation using overlapping wingers that turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

[OOC'ly, for the purposes of scorination, the team uses the maximum attacking style modifier permitted by each cup's hosts.]

Kit
The team will wear famous Imperial Gold and Red, as worn by the Holy Empire since WC1...

Except that this time they'll only wear the shorts - unless legally required to wear a full kit while playing in your nation (see OOC notes above)

(home top, away bottom)
Image
Image

OOC'ly, the kits were designed by Red Blackiland, and the crest by Audioslavia - and I'm entirely grateful; I'm very happy for RB and Audio to take OOC credit. IC'ly, HEFA deny the Mundies had anything to do with it.

Stadium
The Holy Empire plays its home matches in the bejewelled, platinum-domed, and purple stone-walled Imperial Hippodrome, the oldest World Cup venue still in use, and one of the most famous - and impressive - stadiums in the multiverse.

Except that the pitch will be sand instead of grass this World Cup, and the interior stadium decoration has been given a beach feel.

RP instructions:
Have fun and use your imagination - but don't kill anyone, and don't try and launch attacks on the Dreamed Realm; largely because you can't.

Some basic Dreamed Realm RP rules:
Remember that the Dreamed Realm lies entirely outside of Ordinary Reality, and is utterly impervious to harm from what we charmingly call 'mundies'.

Some points to remember about travel to, and playing in, the Dreamed Realm:

1) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm; reality and time are malleable within the Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Imperial home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated, unless permission is received in advance (please file applications for violent rioting in triplicate). Any such behaviour undertaken without appropriate permission will find those responsible immediately transported back to Ordinary Reality.

2) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Empire, a team of Archregimancy [Eastern Orthodox Christian] monks will arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Empire at your convenience.

NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS

OFFICIAL WORLD CUP 83 ROSTER

Starters:
GK: #1- Ryan McNamara (24, Tundra Falls Mariners)
– A taller keeper that prefers to rely on instincts. Is often aggressive towards the shooter, and this has seen him have success, especially while at the Proving Grounds. He is not as successful in road games, but is still considered the best keeper in the nation.

LB: #2- Tim Marley (26, Jessicaville Millionaires)
– An average frame, but an overall high work ethic. Very good with his overall positioning, and is not often going to be faked out by an opponent. Though he can be outmuscled.

LCB: #4- Scott Corellis (26, Pocono City Capitals)
– Complements Marley in that he is the strength on the left side of the defense. That is the thought process anyway, because these two have never actually played together before.

RCB: #5- Adrian O’Bryan (29, Loudon Leopards)
– An intelligent defender, but sometimes a little too overconfident. While he knows the game very well, and is very studious when watching game tape in preparation, he trusts himself a little too much.

RB: #3- Shawn Stoddard (24, Centralia Cougars)
– While Corellis is a strong player, Stoddard is the most physical of the group. He will not be shy to be aggressive towards the opponent and figures to lead the club in bookings. A fan favorite in Centralia.

LM: #8- Jorge Cortez (25, Pocono City Capitals)
– Excellent two way player, that will both score goals and be one of the first ones back to defend. He has very good chemistry at home with Scott Corellis, and it should be expected that they will hook up once or twice for a goal.

CM: #9- Tyrone Vannella (27, Springfield Thoroughbreds)
– Has blazing speed and a ton of talent. Unfortunately, he is also known to be an arrogant player, and some players on the team might not be thrilled he is on the team. He’ll be the last one to show up at practice, and the first to leave. Not a fan friendly player, either.

RM: #12- Jarrell Connolly (25, Putnam Lake Eagles)
– Playing in Putnam Lake, where soccer is the most popular within Newmanistan, Connolly has a lot of pressure on him. Thankfully, he has always been able to handle that. He’s played with Vannella before, and despite their differing personalities, they have been known to play well together.

LS: #10- Brent Chapman (23, Tundra Falls Mariners)
– Has a hard shot and is very accurate with it. He’s not going to do much else for the team, though. Can be beaten by a strong defender.

ST: #15- Jerome Beyer (26, South Charlotte Condors)
– An astute passer, Beyer will be looking to set up either Chapman or Schaefer, or another Rocket more then he will be looking to put shots on goal himself. Very creative with the ball and getting by defenders.

RS: #11- Derek Schaefer (25, Southport Tigers)
– Figures to be the team leader in goals. While Chapman has a harder and more accurate shot, Schaefer has more overall skill that will allow him to get more shots on net. He’s no slouch with his shot power or accuracy either, though.

Regular Substitutes:
GK: #21- Aaron Scarpa (29, North Charlotte Wildcats)
CB: #6- Calvin Douglas (26, South Tier Seagulls)
CB: #7- Thomas Caprotti (25, Loudon Leopards)
MID: #13- Dirk Donato (26, Dover City Mountaineers)
MID: #17- Samantha Paschke (28, Olympia Gladiators)
ST: #14- Jimmy Halligan (25, Jessicaville Millionaires)
ST: #16- Antonio Cruz (22, Penthoria Riverman)

Reserves:
GK: #25- Jesse Gallant (26, Olympia Gladiators)
CB: #22- Edward Molander (29, Springfield Thoroughbreds)
CB: #23- Eli Watson (24, Brighton Bulls)
MID: #18- Peyton McLeod (24, Nashua Broncos)
MID: #26- Saquon Shields (26, Loudon Leopards)
ST: #19- John Baker (25, Pocono City Capitals)
ST: #24- Shane Shuster (18, Daytopia Racers)

Manager- Miguel Hernandez (49, Jessicaville Millionaires)

APOX WORLD CUP 83 QUALIFIERS SQUAD

Manager: Image Lunar Dusk, Aged: 45
Assistant Manager: Image Sverre Devold, Aged: 47
Style: -0.5

Spiel: Luxulya St. Cleer has stepped aside after a period as Apoxian national team manager which will only burnish her coaching reputation. And into the breach steps, Lunar Dusk, formerly the assistant manager for the Equestrian States national side and having domestic success as the manager of Crystal Fair HC before that. She has begun her time as manager with a focus more on evolution rather than revolution, and will aim to build on the solid base created by St. Cleer before her. She continues to seek a more youthful approach to the side, and other than national team legends and stalwarts Imhotep Jekyll and James Palmisano, the nominal first team is comprised of players in their 20s. She will also use this tournament to allow some of the younger exciting prospects some game time, with players such as Pluto Blinkman and Trajan Quillisi certainly knocking on the door to get serious game time. Qualification to the finals tournament, as always but especially now that Apox is a top seed, is a must. Getting to the Quarter-Final stage (as achieved last time) or further, would be a very enjoyable bonus.

Lunar Dusk has decided to keep a similar system to her predecessor Luxulya St. Cleer with the team lining up in a fluid 4-3-3 formation, with fast wingers augmenting creative midfielders in the centre of midfield. Up front, Marcy Blake-Tatum is the woman of the moment and the nation is hoping this will be her breakout tournament in an Apoxian shirt. All this, built on a solid defensive formation, covered by the essential defensive midfielder.

The Euran Football Association’s World Cup 83 Qualifying Squad

Manager: Michael Brandon (52, Nephara)

The unceremonious sacking of Daniel Belgrave as Eura manager following an unexpected and unfortunate exit from the 82nd World Cup group stages caused one of the biggest controversies in recent Euran footballing history. Eura hadn't lost a single game until the final match of the group stage (a surreal 3-0 defeat to Sargossa built on a first half collapse), but in an unlikely turn of fate, three teams finished on six points, and the side went out on goal difference. As Eura's dry spell without trophies extended another year, the EFA had clearly felt they had given more than enough time to Belgrave's project. Many saw this decision as harsh on Belgrave, still regarded by most as something of a national hero given his role in winning the 66th World Cup as a player and winning over two hundred caps. They called it a fluke exit.

However, the writing had been on the wall for longer. Eura had finished qualifying unbeaten but drew an unprecedented seven games. The defeat against Sargossa that directly triggered Belgrave's dismissal was the latest in a string of bizarre Euran collapses to bow out of tournaments that could have been won, adding the Corsairs to a list of at-the-time underdogs including Savojarna, Free Republics and South Covello. There are also ramifications for many players in the squad; indeed, following Belgrave's exit, all four of John Leach, Dominic Miller, Alex Wyatt and even Josh Holmes called time on their international careers.

A dilemma had been created for the EFA on how to proceed. Assistant Mike Humphrey had also been dismissed leaving a need to recruit an entirely new management team. Brief rumours of legend Steve Thompson riding to the rescue from retirement were quashed immediately. Rumours of a dramatic swoop for wildcard Skorji Oslograd were also laughed off. Talk of Lee Sharp (Eura's greatest ever player, former Audioslavia manager and now 1830 Cathair boss), Tom Benedict (Sabrefell Athletic coach and long rumoured target of the EFA) or Walter Crasder (Ulsa) also came to nothing. In the end the appointment made after months of what the selection committee called "challenging reflection" was a choice that could be seen as either surprising or completely natural depending on whether you see the appointment as a nostalgia trip or a return to Euran football's core identity.

Michael Brandon, a stalwart of Directus as a player, one of Nephara's first great players and an iconic manager of the Nepharim side itself, was handed a three year contract. Tom Riley, Euran World Cup winning captain and Brandon's former teammate, was appointed as assistant. It came as a shock in Brandon's own country, where it was widely anticipated that he may take the Brinemouth job in the near future. Instead Brandon has clearly sensed an opportunity to take on one last chance to win the big prize, and to return the favour to the country that made his name. He has been given the freedom to make radical, or even ruthless changes to the Euran side in an attempt to take them away from Belgrave's cautious game to a more stereotypical Euran attacking identity. After a strong start to his reign at the recent Copa Rushmori following the 82nd World Cup, Eura's packed schedule now has to make room for an accelerated World Cup qualifying campaign.

Assistant Manager: Tom Riley (57, Eura)

Riley was Eura's captain when they won the 66th World Cup and, like Brandon, has a reputation as a hard working, organised leadership figure who played as a short passing central midfielder. Brandon will not be an unfamiliar figure to anyone in the dressing room but Riley may add a degree of intimate familiarity with the way things work. He will be vital to bringing back the work ethic and team spirit that drove previous title winning Euran sides. The two men have been inseparable as a management team and it is expected that, like Belgrave and Humphrey, they will be treated as mutually accountable for better or worse. Brandon has also brought many of his coaches with him from the Nepharim set up that left following his departure there.

Caps and goals not included currently as stats are out of date by one cycle

Goalkeepers

1 – Robert Griffin – GK – 32 – Sabrefell Moths (Nephara)
13 – Kevin Belgrave - GK - 28 - Directus
30 – Ryan Bull - GK - 29 - Brinemouth (Nephara)

One of the few areas of the squad where Brandon won't shake things up, for now at least. Outside of the top three - Griffin, Belgrave and Bull - there are no serious contenders other than James Clements of Oakstone, reflecting a dearth of young Euran goalkeepers at the top level that many blame on the influx of foreign players into Euraleague. Griffin has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the multiverse for several seasons and recently enjoyed UICA success with the Moths. His performances at the Copa Rushmori have solidified his place. But Belgrave and Bull will be knocking on his door as they have for several years.

Defenders

2 – Scott Coles - RB - 31 - Ulsa
3 – Ben Hall - LB - 28 - Oakstone
4 – Charles Roberts - CB - 26 - Bastion
5 – Harvey Blake - CB - 28 - Spartangrad
15 – Oliver Murray - CB - 32 - Holdenberg
19 – Samuel Hopkins - CB - 27 - Eastweald (Cosumar)
21 – Jon Haines - RB - 28 - Sabrefell Moths (Nephara)
23 – Stanley Burns – LB – 22 – Holdenberg
25 – Dean Steele – CB – 23 – FC Endeavour (Apox)
27 – Steve Fox - RB - 25 - Sabrefell Athletic (Nephara)

Despite a bit of a nightmare in the Copa Rushmori final against Pasarga, the backline remains unchanged since Roberts came into the first XI for the Copa following John Leach's international retirement. On paper Eura have some very strong defensive options and their record was clearly improved at the back under Belgrave, but possibly at the expense of the team's performance in knock out games. At the Copa Eura adopted a more attacking approach and Brandon's defence looked mostly solid throughout, with Coles and Hall demonstrating their attacking capabilities. Question marks remain over Oliver Murray - a tank at domestic level, but considered by many too slow for international play - and the Nephara based pair of Jon Haines and Steve Fox, who have both been unlucky to spend the last few years in the shadow of Coles. A lot of eyes will be on Stanley Burns, Holdenberg's defensive wonderkid who has the aura of a player that should be broadcast in black and white kicking a brown leather ball.

Midfielders

6 – John Talbot - CDM - 31 - Spartangrad
7 – Oscar Coltrane - AM - 32 - Sabrefell Athletic (Nephara)
8 – Liam Armstrong - CM - 29 - Starling (Nephara)
11 - Anthony Townsend - RM - 28 - Ma Alameome (Farfadillis)
12 - Rhys Griffiths - AM - 26 - Revolutionaries
16 – Damion Bowman – LW – 22 – Hornchurch
18 – Harry Gravesen - CM - 29 - Spartangrad
20 – Moira Woakes (F) – AM – 23 – Crisisbless (Nephara)
22 – Monica Rowland (F) - CM - 26 - Bastion
24 - Frank Bevan - CM - 26 - Holdenberg
28 – Harry Humphreys – CM – 26 – Raynor City United (Valanora)
29 – Freddie Wright – RW – 25 – Brigham

Midfield is where the real revolution is blossoming under Michael Brandon although there are no changes from the Copa side. He was largely satisfied with performances at the Copa following the retirement of Alex Wyatt and Dominic Miller beforehand, both clearly being on the way out last cycle. Vincent Robshaw and Damion Bowman came in for them and impressed despite receiving limited game time, while John Talbot has excelled so far in his late career transition into a bombastic box-to-box midfielder at international level. Armstrong has looked more like his old self with creative freedom in the midfield while Griffiths has looked good since joining the starting lineup. But there are problems - Coltrane continues to be key but his age is starting to show already (he does not have Sinclair's longevity) and Anthony Townsend's recent injury record is a cause for concern. Harry Gravesen remains harshly outside of the starting lineup at the expense of his club teammate Talbot; at 29, he has to break through now or never, as does the younger but hungry Frank Bevan. Moira Woakes had an excellent Copa and may threaten starting players before long. Harry Humphreys and Freddie Wright had little time to impress in Qusmo but they will probably get game time in these qualifiers, Humphrey's in particular hoping to sneak into the starting line up. Several matchdays into qualifying, Robshaw picked up an injury and was replaced by former Nephara captain Monica Rowland.

Forwards

9 – Dean Sharp – ST – 31 – 1830 Cathair (Audioslavia)
10 – Dion Underwood - ST - 32 - Bastion
14 – John Fletcher – CF – 27 – AFC Treason (Nephara)
17 – Brian Bond - LW/ST - 26 – Eastweald (Cosumar)
26 – Morgan Fox - CF - 28 – Falourr

Brandon's first tournament saw the end of an era as Josh Holmes hung up his blue and gold boots having never quite achieved everything that he could. A pang in many hearts was felt for Lofty Jones too, unceremoniously dropped and yet to return to the side. Further change looks inevitable as clouds swirl over the future of Dion Underwood, whose injury record for club and country this season has been unusually poor by his standards, let alone the normally ultra-fit Euran national setup. He missed much of the Copa with an ankle problem which leaves him out of practice in a period where he needs to be adapting his game with age. Brian Bond looks well set to take over the mantle after a glittering Copa in which Dean Sharp got mixed reviews after a long wait for the number nine shirt. John Fletcher and Morgan Fox are entering the prime of their careers and eagerly wait in the wings. For Underwood and Sharp at the very least, this is likely their last chance to both taste glory.

Reserves/Pool

James Clements – GK – 30 – Oakstone
Ethan Cook – RB – 32 – Directus
Declan Hurst - RB - 27 - Brigham
Jarrod Jenkins – CB – 22 – Falourr
Jake Newton – CB – 24 – Baskita FC (Pasarga)
Reece Lucas – LB – 24 – Ulsa
James Lord - LB - 26 - Holdenberg City
Jayden Fox - LB - 25 - Dwile Warriors (Apox)
Harrison Burns - RM - 29 – Bastion
Oliver Naismith – RM – 29 – Lajuno
Tom Garner - CDM - 25 - Crisisbless United (Nephara)
Sebastian Field - CM – 29 – Farrenton Athletic
William Rodgers - CM - 26 - Marketville
Chris Ashton – CM – 26 – Lajuno
Clint Rogers – CAM – 22 – Spartangrad
Henry Patterson – CAM – 24 – Directus
Leonard Sharpe LM - 27 - Holdenberg
Lewis Phoenix – ST – 24 – FC Endeavour (Apox)
Tom Whittaker – ST – 26 – Chenoworth Harriers (Nephara)
Lofty Jones - CF - 34 - Bastion
Tommy Sutton - ST - 21 - Falourr
James Howell - ST - 26 - Holdenberg

Eura have a lot of strong talent in their reserves as usual. The real stars to keep an eye on are arguably Jarrod Jenkins, a revitalised Jayden Fox, Clint Rogers and Lewis Phoenix who has been dominating in Apox this season. However experience may play into the hands of the likes of Lofty Jones should these players be called upon.

Preferred starting lineup

Note; does not take into account suspensions, injuries or any other change. At the end of each RP I post, I will try to give a team for the next match and formation type. If no such lineup is posted, assume that there have been no changes and use the lineup below.

GK - 1. R Griffin
RWB - 2. S Coles
RCB - 4. C Roberts
LCB - 5. H Blake
LWB - 3. B Hall
RCM - 6. J Talbot
LCM - 8. L Armstrong
RAM - 11. A Townsend
CAM - 7. O Coltrane
LAM - 12. R Griffiths
ST - 10. D Underwood

Eura may sometimes play 4-2-2-2 with Coltrane shifted to the left and Wyatt benched for another striker, usually Holmes, or a 4-3-3 with a middle of Armstrong/Coltrane/Talbot and a front three of Underwood/Bond/Holmes.

Subs

13. D Belgrave
21. J Haines
15. O Murray
23. S Burns
24. F Bevan
18. H Gravesen
20. M Woakes
17. B Bond
9. D Sharp
14. J Fletcher

Player Roles

Squad Captain: Scott Coles
Vice Captain: Robert Griffin
Direct free kicks: Oscar Coltrane (Right footed)
Indirect free kicks: Liam Armstrong (Right footed)
Right corner: Oscar Coltrane (Right footed)
Left corner: Oscar Coltrane (Right footed)
Penalties: 1. Liam Armstrong 2. Oscar Coltrane 3. Dion Underwood 4. Anthony Townsend 5. Scott Coles

Stadium

Eura play their international home games at the Bastion Arena, the 110,000 capacity all-seater stadium at the heart of Eura's capital.

There have been many powerful nations throughout the millennia.
But ages of World Cup football have begun to tear the fabric of the realms. The critical point has finally been reached.
It was foreseen that the Sunrisian threat would one day grow too powerful and too numerous.
If left unchecked, their intensifying Pokémon shenanigans would weaken and shatter the realms and bring about the apocalypse.
The Elder Gods demanded a safeguard put in place to avoid total destruction. One that involved beverages, bad ideas and a complete lack of interest.
It worked briefly.
But then, at the apex of boredom, they decided to do a 180 turn and go back.
At last, it has come to this.
The era of the Sunrise has begun.

HOME STADIUM
Tentai National Stadium
Capacity: 67,150 - Tentai City, Tentai - Tenants: Tentai Astros

Recently built under rule by the Hinodejin Imperial Court, this state of the art venue was built to host games of top tier team Tentai Astros, but more important than that, to host the national team's games at the new capital of the Empire. It's also supposed to represent part of the renovation process spearheaded by the current queen towards this city, once the capital of one of the fiercest enemies of the empire, now acting as one of the jewels of her crown.

RP PERMISSIONS
As you might've noticed, this team isn't entirely human. Just wanted to point out they're still fairly close to being human, just in case and a brief search will give you a good idea of what they look like, plus you can ask me about them if you want. Please don't kill the players. Injuries for large stretches of time have to be informed by telegram, or else they'll get the ignore canon treatment. Anything else (bar anything that destroys any city of the empire or its' people, just in case anyone gets a bit too creative) is fine by me.
Let the sun burn my eyes / Let it burn my back

Mrii National Team
Image

For competition in the 83rd World Cup Qualifiers
Right: An artist's rendition of Solara Vol, star Mrii striker (in her Sabrefell Moths duds).
Style: 4-3-3, +1.5
Home Field: Haven, Maal (65 000). Located in the scenic old city overlooking the warm Atlantian ocean.
Nickname: the Reavers

Note that most players (and the majority of Mrii) are satyrs, as pictured, though with a variety of skins tones--mostly in various shades of blue, purple, and red. They're on average very tall, along the lines of human professional basketball players, and specialize in aerial play thanks to the elevated header control courtesy of their horns. Their stature also lends itself to a fast and aggressive attacking game, leveraging long strides, high stamina, and imposing presence to pressure and wear down the opposition. While there are certain Mrii who show a phenomenal amount of dexterity on the ball, they're generally the strikers; small, quick humans that can "get under" Mrii backs have been a problem spot for the team, as well as a generally weaker grasp of the defensive game.

Positional Breakdown
Keepers
It’s fair to say Mara’s got a firm hold on the starting gig. Despite Zilia’s utter domination of the MNL, one has to think being named to the A-League Team of the Year is a stronger look. The NT momentum also feels like it’s in Mara’s favor, but we all know how fickle that can be. In the third slot Kostin Bermat decided to hang up his international boots, to borrow a human phrase, and make way for the unheralded Kaara, who’s been making a better name of herself in Brenecia than she ever did in Bruul. Even if her club is a bit naff.

Backs
The back situation for the Reavers is always sticky and this cycle is no different. Finding the correct balance between threatening ball-handlers like Reina and hatcheteers like Maas to Stitch Together what can plausible be called “a defense.” Karii has been a "promising talent" for what feels like forever, but it's important to remember she's still only 24--and it's not like there's any better options at rightback.

Midfielders
Malia Polandre has been a pillar of the squad since the beginning, but even for a satyr she's starting to get stretched. With no clear line of succession she'll be attempting to quickly mentor up one of her two potential replacements in the technical Varyn or the perpetual motion machine of Popo. Malia Yonen is quickly settling into her role as the new midfield bruiser, but she manages to bring some silk along with the steel and provide another solid front-to-back link. Tia is the classic link-up with Pia and a constant thorn in the side of whoever she sets her sights on. Hilda manages to hang on in the reverses for the situations where someone absolutely, positively needs to get merked while Revan Mor finally gets a call-up after years of solid but unspectacular play on an excellent Angels squad. A minute-eater that specializes in stifling the game with a lead.

Strikers
The Mrii bread and butter, and by far the most competitive position. Solara’s a lock, no questions. Her ability to flip seamlessly between straining any defense to holding up play for ages to making opportunities appear at random is the hallmark of the Reavers. Aldo has made a very strong case as a lock as well, through his years of consistent contribution and continual ripping up of the ANL. A solid poacher with a great sense of “right place right time” can get a lot done. Tali’raia’s spot is a bit more tenuous as the talent levels even out--though her unique brand subtle technical play is often a refreshing change of pace to the other two running defenders over. Lasser and Mako both fill the sort of quick, hard-hitting supersub role and are probably the most direct competition to see who gets booted out of the final squad. Finally, but certainly not least, is Portia. The former Alchemist who walked over the MNL and still didn’t get a call-up has finally forced the issue by taking the Nepharim First Division Iron Fist; with the juicy prospect of linking up to recent teammate Yonen in the cards, it’s possible that she’ll crack the first eleven in the near future (or even right now!).

EURAN OCEANIA TERRITORIES
"The Expats"

World Cup 83 Qualifying Squad

National Introduction

Kit: Blue with combination livery of Euran gold and Syndicatian white. Alternative kit is the same colours are Syndicatian or "Revolutionaries" green.
Stadium: Flynn Arena, 96,500
Style Mod: +4

The Incorporated States of Euran Oceania Territories is a parliamentary federal dominion of Eura, formed of the Euran zone of the former Inevitable Syndicate and the Whittorian Islands. It has a population of just under ten million people which is quickly rising, making it a beacon of diversity home to Syndicatians, Whittorian refugees, Euran migrants and others. It has possibly the world's largest artificial crater, which dominates the landscape west of what is now New Fligsive, the capital of this new entity. Its home stadium is the The Flynn Arena, where Eura beat Polar Islandstates 4-2 in the famous 66th World Cup final. Few would have predicted that the colours of red, blue and gold would become permanent there but its happened, and the stadium is now back in good condition after an expensive refit to return it to the 96,500 capacity it held previously. Previously a wooden stadium, the current iteration of the Flynn Arena was rebuilt after a great fire destroyed the stadium during a game between Fligsive FC and Magnaeus City. Nowadays, it's a little more robust, having been the subject of many refurbishment projects over the years. The stadium was easily reachable on the Fligsive Metro before the violent overthrow of the Corvidae regime and the associated disaster in Fligsive. It now sports a combination of the old paint job as well as Euran blue and gold while the local club Fligsive FC are still in existence despite drawing lower crowds after the Mertagne exodus, though they do not play in the hastily cobbled together amateur EOTLeague.

Euran Oceania Territories formed a national football team not long after the founding of the political entity, a project conjured up by the Euran government Ministry of Sport to imbue a sense of cohesion among the diverse population of EOT. They played a series of friendlies against other "Eurasphere" sides from Endemia and Rushmore in a lengthy state subsidised tour. Their first games were defeats against Daera, Itor and the Ferguson Islands, before an unexpected 4-3 victory against Helving, despite their Euraleague star Scott Barnes scoring a hattrick. They then entered the 50th AOCAF full of excitement despite having a mostly amateur team, including serving military personnel, but were promptly demolished in the group stages by several teams. Now, with the citizenship laws relaxed to allow the growth of the Territories, the "Underdogs" as they have come to call themselves are suddenly confident that they might be able to pull off a shock or two. Their first manager was of top class pedigree - Tolgus Tregajorran, a footballing hero in Apox who is also well known on the international scene.

Tregajorran managed to persuade some former Apoxian internationals, playing in Eura and with no international allegiance following the temporary dismemberment of Apoxian professional football, to sign the relevant papers and make the surprise switch to EOT, as well as Euran's and other international exiles. After several years of bit part competition EOT competed in the World Cup qualifiers for the first time and in turn the Baptism of Fire, after the Sameban national team withdrew from the Endemian International Sporting Agreement and international football. They performed poorly at the Baptism of Fire, going out at the group stage, but put on a respectable showing in their qualifying group for the 80th World Cup. Tregajorran's unexpected departure and a chaotic period followed, ending with the controversial appointment of Euran footballing legend and cult icon Skorji Oslograd halfway through World Cup 81 qualifying.

Immediately applying Oslograd's "Skorjiball" approach - best summarised as an extremely aggressive and fluid attacking game interrupted sporadically by the manager doing something inappropriate - the team secured some noteworthy results but remains very much an underdog competitor. Oslograd's dream is to turn them into the living embodiment of "the way of the warrior" and to qualify for the World Cup. His first AOCAF was the first tournament where Olsograd was able to demonstrate his own approach to the game in full but the results were mixed. Then he led the side into World Cup 82 qualifying, but a dreadful start to the campaign snuffed out any hopes, although a later revival ensured a semi-respectable finish. But the team did lose a bit of its soul, playing more conservatively than previously, a trend that Oslograd reversed in the recent AOCAF. The Expats excited fans with their performances and took the scalp of Valanora, easily the biggest victory in the young teams history before exiting in the knockouts against Banija. As a result the squad goes into the World Cup unchanged, though this will likely be the last tournament for a number of players.

The Squad
Shirt number. Name - Age - Position - Caps - Goals - Club (Nation)

Goalkeepers

1. Bart Jones - 35 - GK - Burdoc Ridge (Audioslavia)
13. Tammy Barton - 28 - GK - Fligsive FC

The same keepers as usual, because this is all the Expats have right now. Jones is decent enough, but Barton is not good enough at international level.

Defenders

2. Timwise Gerduns - 28 - RB - Revolutionaries (Eura)
5. Kurt Strong - 29 - CB - Revolutionaries (Eura)
6. Freddie Law - 26 - CB - Foxhampton (Eura)
3. Jesus Moreno - 28 - LB - Dangerford (Eura)
15. Marvin Walsh - 21 - RB - Holdenberg City (Eura)
19. Alex Charlton - 34 - CB - Brigham (Eura)
21. Jason Potts - 21 - CB - Ulsa (Eura)
23. Danny Lawrence - 30 - CB - Ulsa Rovers (Eura)
25. Jack Ream - 27 - RB - Fligsive FC
26 - Ewan May - 34 - LB - Lemmitania State FC (Audioslavia)

Oslograd continues to insist on a back three of Gerduns (playing as a centreback), Strong and Freddie Law, who has come in for the aging Alex Charlton. They lack pace but are strong and experienced. Jeusus Moreno’s career is undergoing a recovery that sees him back in the side when Oslograd opts to switch to a back four, while Jason Potts and Marvin Walsh are knocking on the door of the first team.

Midfielders

4. Samuel Freeman - 32 - CM - Farrenton Athletic (Eura)
7. Peter Chadwick - 31 - CAM - Holdenberg City (Eura)
8. Willem Ajax - 33 - CM - Bastion (Eura)
11. Kasey Fuller - 21 - LW - Bastion (Eura)
16. Louie McKenzie - 30 - AM - Callodown (Eura)
17. Edward Pollard - 32 - LM - Lajuno (Eura)
20. Joel Conway - 24 - RW - Creed United (Nephara)
22. Peter Brooks - 28 - CM - AFC Whittorians
24. George Richards - 23 - CDM - Pascal Mashu (Hinode)
26. Mark Little - 25 - RW - Fligsive FC

As was the case at the most recent World Cup the midfield is EOT’s strongest area despite a relative lack of depth (they are so short on squad players that the roster is unchanged in midfield from the World Cup). Samuel Freeman, Peter Chadwick and Willem Ajax are all in their early thirties but trusted immensely by Oslograd (for now at least) and are the backbone of the squad. Kasey Fuller and Joel Conway are the exciting pacey youngsters. Louie McKenzie, Edward Pollard and George Richards may all get game time. Mark Little and Peter Brooks are unlikely to feature against anyone other than the weakest sides. This will probably be the last tournament where the midfield core remains unchanged.

Forwards

9. Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelier - 26 - ST - Farrenton Athletic (Eura)
10. Tom Duffy - 28 - CF – Ulsa (Eura)
14. Garret Ramsey - 25 - ST - Harkdown (Eura)
12. Paul Hooper - 25 - ST – Dartmoor (Eura)
18. Ulysses Zimmer - 29 - ST - Hornchurch (Eura)

Inexplicably EOT have a Champions Cup winning starting striker among their ranks. Tom Duffy's unanticipated glory with RGS Athletic has made him an undroppable centreforward despite his arguably modest talents. He’s even earned himself a move to Ulsa to play second fiddle to the far superior Romikk Valgard. But Zimmer and Hooper are unquestionably down the pecking order in the new front two which features Le Tonnelier, a fan favourite with a rebellious personality and noticeable beer gut but the ball control and flair of Craig Sinclair, and Oslograd's pet - sorry, we mean prodigy - Garret Ramsey as the first choice substitute. This is Ramsey's third national team. Yes, you read that correctly.

Preferred starting lineup
Formation is...good lord, who knows. Really depends what side of bed Oslograd wakes up on. But the absolute madman will likely play a 3-4-3 of sorts, but really it’s more like a 3-2-5. If they are losing and need to score, they tend to stick with that. If they need to defend a lead Oslograd tends to be rather all or nothing, and will throw on the most defensive formation possible at short notice.

GK - 1. B Jones
RCB - 2. T Gerduns
CB - 5. K Strong
LCB - 6. F Law
RCM - 4. S Freeman
LCM - 8. W Ajax
RW - 20. J Conway
CAM - 7. P Chadwick
LW - 11. K Fuller
RS - 10. T Duffy
LS - 9. P-L Le Tonnelier

Barunia Suns World Cup 83 Squad
The axe has been bloody after a disastrous campaign last cycle, with many players getting the chop after failing to fire. Included in the cull was the head coach and experienced defenders Chris Foreman and James O’Shea. Liesel McClelland also won’t be returning, the ageing veteran hanging up her boots. Barunia’s goalkeeper woes continue, with both Jones and White also cut. Hannah and Sarah Miller-Brown make history as the first married couple to compete for Barunia in the same team. Hannah is no longer captain though, with Andre Azarola given the armband as the Barunians look to the future.

Coach/Manager: Kassandra Wainwright
GK #1 John Taylor
GK #21 Brock Stephens
GK #23 Norman Bass
LB #2 Corey Trask
LB #3 Deborah Elliott
CB #5 Ronald Moreno
CB #13 Johnny Evans
RB #24 Chris Burns
RB #7 Tim Faulkner
DM #18 Jan Narcis De Leon Valera
DM #16 Stefani Obando
LM #12 Andre Azarola - Captain
LM #27 Antonio Mendoza
CM #8 Evan Williams
CM #34 Sam Miller
RM #20 Andy Morgan
RM #28 Sarah Miller-Brown
AM #11 Hannah Miller-Brown
AM #17 Melissa Hunt
RF #9 Neil Coddington
RF #19 Katy Spears
LF #14 Billy Kovac
LF #22 Marianita Hughes

Formations: The Barunians will stick to what they know best, and line up in the ‘Barunian Classic’, a style that recalls some of Joric Ruskin’s earlier formations and is loosely based on Stephen Wiggen’s ‘Double Diamond’. In essence, it is a 3-5-2 with the midfield spread across three ranks: a single defensive midfielder in the back, a line of three players across the centre, and an attacking midfielder up front to support the forwards.
Stadiums
Sun Stadium (National Stadium of Barunia), Porthaven - Capacity: 95,000. Location: Porthaven, Havenia
Sun Stadium is the national stadium of Barunia, and the home of the national team, the Barunian Suns. In honour of these illustrious tenants, the stadium has a strong sun motif. This includes the seat patterning, which represents a yellow sun in a blue sky, and the golden "sunburst" roof. The stadium is multi-purpose too, creating a vibrant sports hub for the capital. It was the obvious choice to hold the grand final of the 66th Baptism of Fire.

Bayview Stadium - Capacity 70,000. Location: Bayview, Tildos
Bayview Stadium is home to the West Bay Mariners, one of the powerhouses of Barunia's domestic league system. It is located in the town of Bayview, in the West Bay area of Tildos. The stadium is situated on a mountain overlooking Morgan Bay, and is considered to have one of the best views of any stadium in Barunia. Only a recent addition to Barunia’s World Cup tour, where it replaced Newland’s Blackrock Stadium, Bayview has proven a popular destination for both local and foreign fans.
Image

Memorial Stadium - Capacity: 100,000. Location: Edwardton, Marion
Home to both the Marion Hawks and the Edwardtion Eagles, the box-shape and grille-like cladding of Memorial Stadium has earned it the nickname of “The Birdcage”. The largest football stadium in Barunia, Memorial Stadium is named in honour of those who fought in the civil war. Memorial stadium was built by Kytlerian company BNW Varin and features a retractable roof, 90,000 seats plus terraces, plenty of room for foreign media and large movable screens at the back of the top tier.
Image

Sam Garcia Field (Northport Sports Complex) - Capacity: 43,000. Location: Northport-San Baptiste, Northern Isles
Located in the city of Northport-San Baptise in the Northern Islands, this ground is the sacred heart of Barunian football. Often considered to be the place where football in Barunia originated, it's a ground known for firsts, hosting all home matches during the Suns inaugural World Cup campaign (due to it being the only safe ground during the civil war) and is the home of the San Baptiste Sea Lions, the first Barunian Football League championship team. Named in memory of former Sea Lions and Suns goalkeeper Sam Garcia, the main pitch at the Northport Sports Complex is ready to once again provide plenty of firsts.

the Tinhamptonian National Football Team - The Miners
under the auspices of the Tinhampton Football Association

*
Official 23-Player Roster for the 83rd World Cup,
to be hosted by Banija and Equestrian States; and, failing that,
for the 75th Cup of Harmony, to be hosted by unknown nations
*

A FEW NOTES:
All clubs are as at the commencement of the third season of the Megaleague; intramunicipal transfers have already occurred (or have they? :P)
Also, please consider that each player has a listed "virtual age" as well as a real-time age, to which 2 is added per World Cup cycle, effective post-WC82.
Tinhampton's players are, effective 1st August 2019, being given a supplementary wage by the TFA, henceforth classifying them as professionals.

LONG-FORM ROSTER
GOALKEEPERS
#1 - Julia Atherton --- club: Eleven Retinues SC --- when she's not a footballer, she's... a mechanic at a local garage --- virtual age: 26
"It's hard to argue with one goal conceded every 210 minutes," we were told upon Atherton's callup to the squad by Coltfield after the latter's appointment. That figure's about 160 minutes if you take everything all together, which is still not shabby for the world's only professional pub league. :P Is this a case of favouritism? Doubtful - the manager was previously in charge of an even worse club. Beware the backhand, the general attitude, and... well, the rest of the defence, but other than that, you may know what to expect.

#16 - Tealeala noVenaxali --- club: New Lions Club --- when he's not a footballer, he's... a grocery-shop assistant --- virtual age: 31
Although not necessarily the best choice (c.f. Atherton :P) - having conceded barely more than a goal per game, as well as four in the first hour of the Tinhampton Cup final against the FC Tinhampton - he has been foisted onto the squad on the grounds of "well, he won the Megaleague" after obviously-ex-Miners goalie Josh Smith posed as a 19-year-old called Wasim Abdullah and won a place in Saranidia's army. Cheeky bastard.

#23 - Ryan Elliott --- club: Eleven Retinues SC --- when he's not a footballer, he's... a bank teller --- virtual age: 29
Wait, you thought Whitbread's callup was ill-advised? Ryan Elliott has conceded an average of eighteen goals per game in his "professional" football career, although this can be blamed on having to replace Atherton for the last five minutes of the Retinues' 3-0 loss to Polaris after her dismissal. He used to play for them when they were still a pretty decent Sunday League team, though, so that apparently counts as a factor when you're a TFA selector.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DEFENDERS
#2 - Evan Morris --- club: Refinery Hills FC --- when he's not a footballer, he's... a part-time swimming instructor ("I'm sorry, but Hannah doesn't want me constantly absconding when the kids need it the most") --- virtual age: 28
You have every right to respond to this selection with "Evan who?", unless you frequently observe park kickabouts in Tinhampton, which you almost certainly don't. Mostly because he didn't play in the first MegaLeague and was one of several zillion benchsitters during WCQ82, or at least most of it. After William Potter was kickbanned from the Miners in the wake of the Concord Heights incident, he was thrust front and centre for a campaign and a half... before returning to the bench in anticipation of some 22-year-old fast-food worker.
#3 - Davina Salt --- club: Vertos United --- when she's not a footballer, she's... studying Sports Science at Vertos Campus, Tinhampton University --- virtual age: 21
"HUEHUEHUE," they said; "HUEHUEHUEHUEHUE." No matter what they might seem to think about how shitty the Vertosian defence might be - and this can't really be said for the rest of the back four, to be honest - Salt's hard work appears to have paid off, mostly in being recognised as its best player and partially in being recognised as a first-team-quality Tinhamptonian national team footballer. Well, we are Tinhampton, after all, so such is to be expected...
#4 - Nathaniel George --- club: Refinery Hills FC --- when he's not a footballer, he's... a PR guru-in-training --- virtual age: 31
By donating just five dollars to the Centre for Tinhamptonian Missing Children, you can also help us reinvest in child protection systems for organisations everywhere: because together, our present can be their futu---wait, that's a bit of one of his advert scripts, isn't it? How on earth did we forget what he's been up to trying to defend for Tinhampton and actually defending for what was his club for one season before the strike thingy happened? Ah, yeah, that's right, we lost it in all the other paperwork. It wasn't just shipped off to Barker and Warden Advertising, surely?
#5 - Brian Small --- club: Westpark Guns --- when he's not a footballer, he's... a binman operating in the south --- virtual age: 30
Hmmm... is "Small" really the most appropriate name? Despite having been certainly outshadowed against the likes of Brenecia and being almost invisible against certain other teams (Oscioru? At least he got booked there and then, we're talking about other teams here), the man is out to get things right this time. Which, given that the Westpark Guns are an infamously defensive team, is not too much of a tough ask, surely... whether or not he even screwed up in the first place beyond Rozelle is up for debate.
#12 - Amanda Thorpe --- club: Eleven Retinues SC --- when she's not a footballer, she's... in the kitchen... at a local burger joint --- virtual age: 22
The first rule of Tinhamptonian scouting, as everybody knows, is always to forcibly conscribe in people that have barely kicked a football since Grade 14. The second is to draft in people who know how a system works - which, as Thorpe the somehow-ubiquitous burger flipper and alleged spiritual replacement for Steve Andrews knows, is exactly the kind of quota she likes to fulfil. Actually, no, we're talking about the quota of items served per hour. The girl will be missed. Somehow.
#13 - Harry Porter --- club: FC Tinhampton --- when he's not a footballer, he's... working behind the scenes at Tinhampton's health service, please don't abuse him or you will be immediately escorted from the premises :P --- virtual age: 32
Yeah, or anybody else, for that matter, but the THS wants you to be aware of their rule against it, not that it's been needed very often (this is the bit where I look judgmentally at Priscilla Evans, right?). Anyhow, his fall from grace can be further underlined by noting how he has gone from a regular Tinhampton City reserve to a bureaucrat trying to be somebody, somewhere. On the other hand, he did find %DEITY% in the meanwhile, so...
#14 - Jamie Valley --- club: Midtown Pals --- when he's not a footballer, he's... on welfare --- virtual age: 29
Valley, until recently, represented the archetypical Tinhamptonian defender - play well, concede one (at least), but score one or two (which you'll probably have no involvement in) to help the Miners do something other than lose the game. Regrettably, in light of recent circumstances which cannot be named for legal reasons including, but not limited to, a heightened attitude to defence and... the Concord Heights scandal, poor Jamie has been condemned to the bench for the time being. By which we mean indefinitely. Also, Oscioru.
#15 - Peter Wright --- club: Nuclear Geese --- when he's not a footballer, he's... trying to teach English at a local school --- virtual age: 33
Aaaahhh, another player who'se gone threu the ciecle of Tinhamptonian rise and fawl over the months. Inauguraly a Miner from the beginning ?, he has faced meny chalenges as of late, and now had ? a one added beneath ? his normiel shirt numbre. Witch must be pretty embrasing for the poor guy, evedently. ?
Not good enough, whoever wrote this roster. See me at Monday lunchtime with your corrections or risk detention.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

MIDFIELDERS
#6 - Mohamed al-Khazr --- club: Nuclear Geese --- when he's not a footballer, he's... selling tickets for the Barrier Islands ferry --- virtual age: 29
Big Mo himself is one of "only" nine survivors from the team that started (and squatted on the benches at Centralis) for Tinhampton's debut - a 1-0 reverse to Electrum on the first day of World Cup 77 qualifying - and our first ever scorer when he came off the bench to net the only goal against Cetheque the next day. We haven't heard from him since... unless you're talking about the countless tackles, somewhat more countable goals and assists, and supposed pushes on Hannah Ranucci that you can count on one finger. Oh, yeah, that and the one he scored against Audioslavia. Wait, I think I've already mentioned that.

#7 - Peter North --- club: Eleven Retinues SC --- when he's not a footballer, he's... a north-eastern postman --- virtual age: 30
Dependable, reliable, trustworthy, vulnerable to attacks by watchdogs - words that describe North by his trade and, as it so turns out, by his part-time career that he only took up because he accidentally opened a letter that was intended for Steve Cameron's (now-since-emigrated) younger brother inviting him to join the Eleven Retinues. (No Brenecian defenders have been handed a court order to be destroyed since that fateful night at Kingsgarden, thankfully.) But is he being chosen because he plays for the same club as Whitbread? Nope, absolutely not, nothing to see here...

#8 - Louise Whitbread --- club: Eleven Retinues SC --- when she's not a footballer, she's... an office receptionist --- virtual age: 30
With "permanent" captain Michael Young having been ejected quite a while ago from the Tinhamptonian squad by Coltfield, who better to replace him than... I don't know, some Retinues reserve who started all of six games last season and is probably only getting a start for Tinhampton for some baffling reason probably held inside Gladom Newion President Hazanta MeKonta's personal vault? At least she set up one and scored another, which is either truly impressive or rather shitty.

#9 - Fetakela Manuta --- club: New Lions Club --- when he's not a footballer, he's... a Baron of Bargains franchiser --- virtual age: 29
That "another" was a 35-yard free-kick that should have been ruled out after one of São Perebano's defenders was thrown overboard in the build-up (Julia Atherton was sent off two games later, for the record, not ten seconds). On the other side of the River Tin, meanwhile, Manuta - captain of the former Sochean national football team, which admittedly never played a single World Cup qualifier - scored once against Farfadillis' Avenida Leal, another one against Rozelle of Brenecia, twice more in the Cup Final, and another six in the league proper. Blatant goalscoring ability, pace and agility, dodgy connections to Dave Winner... what's not to like?

#17 - Johnny Holmes --- club: Refinery Hills FC --- when he's not a footballer, he's... a freelance journalist --- virtual age: 33
"But wait a minute!" I hear you cry, "Johnny Holmes has too much of a vested interest in Tinhampton to be playing for us, and he didn't even play in the first Megaleague!" The only legitimate response I can offer is that having a highly vested interest in the city to the point of fighting and dying for it is amongst the criteria for playing for the Miners... and Ruth Ford's son is also playing for the team, so shut up, OK? :P

#18 - Chris Richard --- club: FC Tinhampton --- when he's not a footballer, he's... seeking employment --- virtual age: 28
This is not the "CHRIS AGE 5" who drew Fenwick Tower in Munkchester, as certain worryingly eagle-eyed observers may have noticed. We can confirm that this is, however, the same Chris who missed the penalty that denied the then-Rejects the opportunity to leapfrom Eleven Retinues to second place in the inaugural Megaleague. Which, apparently, also counts as Tinhampton material when you consider his "work ethic" that has been pointed out to us. Only bench material, it must be said. Rumours that Rachel Coltfield can turn flesh and bone into wood and plastic remain unsubstantiated. Rumours about transsubstantiation. How meta-substantiated.

#19 - Aihlo Vatunska --- club: New Lions Club --- when he's not a footballer, he's... literally a janitor for hire --- virtual age: 30
The sweeper experiment was not only pretty shit but also proved that a diamond by any other name is still as shit for Tinhampton, which is why Vatunska now returns to his "home" in defensive midfield, where he occasionally resides in for New Lions Club (when he's not being yellow-carded, that is). 15 Miller Road, Tinhampton, since you asked so politely... that was the last address he gave us, we're told he left a decade ago.

#20 - Reece Ford --- club: Civil Engineers FC --- when he's not a footballer, he's... also a Baron of Bargains cashier --- virtual age: 33
Also one of the last nine to survive from WCQ77 (ten if you count assistant manager Ian Jones), he has been foisted onto Civil Engineers, named as such due to who founded it a hundred years ago or so, for some reason. By which we mean "fielding a team percieved to be a bunch of absolute nobodies is not a good idea." Given how long he's been rotting on the bench for, it appears unlikely that Ford is securely in either area... or in any area beyond TBS. Ruth and Peter would be utterly ashamed, except they're not. :P

#21 - Fred Ball --- club: FC Tinhampton --- when he's not a footballer, he's... one of our many government interns --- virtual age: 32
Did somebody say "nobody?" Ever since debuting for Tinhampton at the arse-end of the World Cup 77 qualification cycle, Ball has not just rotted but virtually superglued himself to the bench, and as a result is famous for almost nothing beyond being a civil servant... or an intern, depending on how you look at it. He's only going on the plane to wherever we're going to because nobody else felt ready, which should tell you a lot, really.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
STRIKERS
#10 - Priscilla Evans --- club: Crystal Fair HC --- when she's not a footballer, she's... the one who pumps beer drinkaware.co.uk for the facts </sarc> at the Rampant Lion Arms --- virtual age: 35
If not for late, late stoppage-time drama (as can be perpetually expected from Coldfield and Cassadaigua, at least), poor Priscilla would have led Tinhampton to two World Cups. Alas! the lady is now forcibly parked in the Crystal Empire when she's not playing for us, after Tinhampton was humilated by no less than three separate teams. At least she can score when it matters, apparently. Apparently. This roster has contained so much rumours and gossip that whoever wrote it is probably going to be libel-lawsuited into oblivion.
#11 - Ian Graham --- club: FC Tinhampton --- when he's not a footballer, he's... earning his coaching badges --- virtual age: 35
Graham remains a respectable figure in the Tinhamptonian squad, with a half-decent strike-rate and an all-around barely-above-average work ethic. Surely not good enough for Tinhampton, surely? Well... of course he is, owing to the fact that nobody else available was percieved to be good enough and he must remain in the squad to avoid a crisis up front. This is the official word of the TFA, and so it has been pronounced officially. Amen. :P
#23 - Ben Williamson --- club: Westpark Guns --- when he's not a footballer, he's... an advocate for the World Assembly --- virtual age: 26
As well as being the grandson of the late, great International Focus Party kingpin Jamie, the TFA were told that Ben was supposedly a good enough footballer to merit entrance onto our 23-man (OK, 18-man and 5-woman) squad yet again, having ironically rotted on the bench for Margaret-knows-how-many cycles after threatening to quit for rotting on the bench at Tinhampton City FC. That being said, he's been deported to the Westpark Guns, so it appears that everything's OK and little Benny will have a space reserved for him on the team for the foreseeable future. Apparently, am I right?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BACKROOM STAFF
Manager - Harta-Yunal Den (QUS) --- on a full-time contract --- current age: 76
Rare is the Tinhamptonian that has little appreciation for Qusmo; rarer still is the late-bloomer in pretty much any form of the TFA's structure. Harta-Yunal's appointment - whose only previous noteworthy managerial job involved taking KF Koflir to second place in the Pug Qusmyra (Qusmo's top flight) whilst maintaining a ridiculously impressive - has been justfied as "more likely than not a good idea" by a lower-ranking member of the board. Time will tell - and so will the other teams we're going to have to face off against.

Assistant Manager - Ian Jones --- when he's not an assistant manager, he's... Tinhampton City's accountant --- real-time age: 40
It takes a lot of effort to become Tinhampton's first captain, a player-manager, a somewhat noteworthy cog in the Tinhamptonian midfield, an accountant, and do all that whilst winning more than 100 caps in a row. Regrettably, it takes slightly less work to lose almost all of that - the head of the Tinhamptonian Association of Chartered Accountants doesn't like football in general, for the record - and then get rewarded by being appointed assistant gaffer. Like so many before him (elsewhere, of course), his appointment was made on the basis of his being a star player. And, like virtually everybody else in Tinhamptonian football, not expecting success.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Home Stadium: Tin Park, Tinhampton (capacity 5,000)
  • Style Modifier: -4
  • Roleplay Permissions: No deaths (in this squad or elsewhere in Tinhampton), no wholesale changes of the Tinhamptonian squad (as I will define), no firing any TFA staff, absolutely no obliteration of Tinhampton, no injuries longer than two games unless I TG you to the contrary, and no other unreasonable nonsense as I will define. Otherwise, whatever...
TINHAMPTONIAN KIT: A small switcheroo: All-white for home (to recognise our CoH73 triumph), orange shirts and shorts with white socks for away, and all-green for whoever happens to be the goalkeeper.
