I can't think of just a general GA discussion thread, but there's the WA Discord where you can ask questions and stuff and just have general discussion.

There's no general discussion as such in GA - discussion threads are sometimes allowed, but they're generally speaking meant to be talking about a particular aspect of how GA works. If you want to talk about a particular proposal, do so on the proposal's thread. If you mean your ambassador talking casually with other ambassadors, there's the Strangers' Bar thread. Be sure to read the thread rules if you go there.
What do you actually mean by "general GA discussion"?

I cannot speak to SC stuff, since I only post there when it suits the roleplay in the GA at a given moment.
The GA is supposed to be a roleplay forum, where posts are considered In Character by default. So, given that paradigm, everything is supposed to be a creative writing opportunity. You control your characters, usually diplomatic staff, and interact with other ambassadors, in politicking, drafting, and hijinks in the Stranger's Bar. Theoretically, you can start a roleplay thread that is GA related in the GA that is not itself a draft, but its very rarely done.
Interesting! Thank for answering my question.

I've always been interested in the GA and SC subforums but it appears intimidating to break into as a newbie. What advice do you have for those seeking to participate in these subforums? Just hop right in or should there be things they need to go over before posting here?

Come up with your ambassador's character. Probably not a hostile one if its your first time. Post in a drafting thread, don't try to start drafting. Ask question. Engage with characters and give the other players something to respond to. Don't take anything too personally. Have fun with it.
What would a hostile character look like? They be flaming other chars?

The New Sicilian State wrote:Hi there! I have a question about repeals, if anyone could help.
As far as I understand, when a GAR is passed, it only applies to the nations in the WA at that moment (specifically looking at resolutions that ban or promote certain practices or programs), correct? Like for example, the Charter on Civil Rights doesn't apply to my country because I wasn't in the WA when it was passed, yes?
So my real question is, can you cite a resolution's antiquity as a means for repeal? It couldn't be the main argument, of course, but could the possibility of introducing higher quality legislature to cover a larger, more current WA population be a legitimate argument?
I feel like this would be a dangerous precedent to set, any past GAR could be repealed and replaced simply to cover more people, but if mandated to be legal only if combined with other genuine arguments (similar to the rules surrounding NatSov), it could be an interesting perspective.
Unless of course this has already been cited in a repeal before in which case I'm just dumb and please ignore my question, I apologize for wasting anyone's time...
