Adele was pretty good back in the earrly 2010s but she went downhill with "Hello" in my opinion, i never liked U2 or REM at all though, and yes i know thzt the 80s werent perfect for music either, but out of all the decades i think it had the best popular music, the 1970s had some good classic rock but all the disco novelty junk stops it from being good

See, for me I think the 80's is full of some of the most godawful music known to man.

You have the 70s the other way around. The classic rock was for the most part boring and wanky; you could at least dance to the disco stuff, and many of those songs still hold up to this day.

I personally like the period from Sep 1981-Sep 1987 the best, though I do like U2 and REM; what are your favourite artists?

It's basically any sort of musical piece that was turned into a meme

So then literally anything could be "meme music", making the term virtually meaningless.

On that note, there have been cases where overexposure due to memes has ruined songs for me.

Random piece of self-puffery here, but I just hit 100,000 scrobbles on Last.fm! Hey Hey! Long time coming to hit six figures.

One of the songs from the new Rotting Christ album marked the big occasion

This is legitimately one of my favorite vocal performances I've heard in a while. Since maybe the Julie Christmas on Cult of Luna one.

Also, Poppy released an ambient album

Meanwhile I just hit 157,000 with Tankard song Help Yourself. Would've been funnier if it had been Sweet Home Alabama but that played one song too early

A++ to the vocalist(s) for emotional intensity. I wish the music behind them was more interesting though. It’s just kinda plodding along on its basic, slow rhythm with zero intensity while the vocalist is literally ripping their heart and soul from their chest haha

A well-stated refutation of anyone who you hear talking shit about modern music compared to the 70s/80s/90s. We’ve discussed this in the thread before, but this guy sums up the argument well.
