The Great War

Years ago, there was a war - a Great War - A battle of democracy and fascism. Men died and ships sank but as the fog of war cleared the results were apparent: Democracy won. Setting off a domino affect, many of the world powers became democratic.

South Acren, threatened by this new spread of democracy, retaliated by launching an all-out attack on democratic countries. Eventually, the country failed and was forced into being reconstructed as a democratic country by the world powers. However, this didn't last. Fascist loyalists didn’t like the new democratic government, and citizens of SA had been taught their whole lives that fascism was superior and didn’t know any better. Civil wars erupted, and South Acren slipped democracy's grasp and restored fascism.

Now, there are more world tensions. Democratic and left-leaning countries are enraged by the shift of SA back to fascism and the ideology of fascism making a comeback, and by what this might mean for the state of peace they fought for years to preserve.

A war is coming. The Great War is coming again; the question is not if, but the question is when.

[South Raznakova]

Inside the office of the general secretary, Vladimir Vodovenko meets with his Minister of Defence as well as his Minister of Internal Affairs.


The General secretary takes a puff from his cigarette.

"Is the press ready?", says Vodovenko.

"Yes sir, the reporters are waiting outside, to broadcast your speech to the world.", says the general.

"Excellent."

The General Secretary takes another puff of his cigarette and steps outside to face the reporters.

"Ladies and gentlemen, for too long, our great nation has stood in the shadows, following the commands of other countries, acting like their puppet. Today that ends. Moments ago, I authorized Operation Crimson Dawn. This operation will see South Raznakova colonize all former soviet countries not currently under our control. As I speak, my troops are amassing at the borders of Estonia, Latvia and Belarus. These will be the first three countries to fall under the weight of the new iron curtain. South Raznakova will become once again one of the most powerful countries on the planet. We have the most powerful military, one of the most powerful economies, we have the influence, now all we need is the territory. Comrades, today, is a new chapter in the history of South Raznakova. One, that will see us bring back the glory of the great Soviet Union, one, that will see us continue the great work that was started with our beloved leader Lenin. The time for fascism and democracy has past, it is communism's turn, to reign supreme."

As the General Secretary steps back inside, the troops of the SRAF begin moving into Estonia as well as getting ready along the borders of Latvia, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

At the same time a message is sent to the leaders of the world. The message says, "Gentlemen, as I am sure you are noticing I have begun some acquisitions in Europe. I would like to inform you that I mean no harm to any of you, and hope to remain allies with you. That is all."

[Ithallis]

ITHALLIS EVENING CHANNEL 4 NEWS. ALL THE NEWS THAT'S FIT TO REPORT...

Good Evening Ithallis, Thaecia and all our allies tuning in tonight, I am your host Vance Sterling. We have a breaking news story from just thirty minutes ago, two police officers and an Army Reservist killed in a blast at Revelation Square. Specialist Phillipa Breumont on scene, whats happening out there, Phillipa?

Well, Vance as you can see, it is utter destruction at the square, a bomb planted under the Statue of the Reflecting Soldier exploded, killing two Ithallian Provincial Police Officers and an off duty Army Reservist. The Ithallian Government made a statement not to long ago stating it is too soon to cast blame but finds certain issues suspicious. Just this morning, the Ithallian Senate voted to preserve citizen gun rights, abolished workplace discrimination and encouraged minorities to express themselves freely within reasonable expectation. Of note, the Senate and the Courts have dismissed the issue of a ban on contraception, though abortion is still being debated. While no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, this is clearly a step up in an unusual crime wave that came in the wake of the formation of Ithallis-based Antifa chapters. The television went off, and he just sat there. Terrorism had been unheard of in his country, but now...

Taking a ragged breath, Chancellor Erik Vyndor ran his hair through his hands. Now was not the time for despair. His country needed him. He had to carry the visage of a strong nation on his shoulders when the Thaecian diplomat came to assess the situation. He knew what the outcome would be.

knock, knock

Vyndor jolted back to the here and now.

"Who is it?"

"General Shrane, Chancellor." came the voice of his secretary.

General Shrane. Chief of Military Intelligence.

"See him in,"

General Shrane was not a physically imposing man, but his presence filled the Chancellor with foreboding as he entered the office of the High Chancellor.

For a split second silence.

Quietly, Vyndor walked to his dry bar and selected a fine bourbon, pouring two conservative glasses.

He handed one to the General, who accepted, gently clinked the glasses together with a simultaneous "Slava" then drained their glasses.

"Give it to me straight, General." the Chancellor whispered, "Who killed my people?"

Shrane nodded solemnly. He dared not defy such an important question with political lingo.

"Far left elements. To the left of Marx, to the left of Stalin, left of anything espoused by Antifa." Shrane whispered back, "They call themselves the Blacksmiths. Sources state they may have connections to South Raznakova."

The Chancellor stood there, appalled. Worse than antifa?...was it even possible?

"Does anyone else know this?" Vyndor asked, not daring to be above a whisper.

"Everyone who knows the explicit truth is in this room," Shrane responded. The two of them reeled in their solitude.

"I want a report to give to the Thaecian Representative," Vyndor whispered slowly, "as of right now...as of right now, all options are on the table, but we need proof, General," Vyndor slammed his fist on his desk, "I want proof on who backed these savages."

"Of course, Your Excellency. I'll get right to it. God preserve you, Chancellor. And God Save Ithallis."

"For the World will not Wait," The Chancellor gave the traditional reply. And with that, General Shrane left Chancellor Vyndor to stew in his thoughts.

Ithallis had only barely obtained its freedom in the Secession War.

And now, a new one was starting...

[South Acren]

Fredrick Arcson sat at his desk that morning wondering whether he should request a new door. Now hes wondering wether his decision was the right one. 15 military officers and generals surround his desk. They are all shouting about their ideas and belifes and he sits silently. Finally he raises his hand and all go silent. "Gentlemen and Ladies, your idea to launch this invasion is idiotic. If you are wrong a world war will be started. While we can surely defend against Oppermenia we cannot stop 3 or 4 nations...i realize the importance of The Philippines but we must be cautious." The generals start yelling again but one silenced them with a yell. "SHUT UP. We must listen to our leader. Präsident Arcson is right, we do not know our neighbors reactions however if we control the Philippines we can watch Draos and SR should they try something." Frederick sighs and nods. "Fine but we must be cautious."
Within a few days the entirety of the South Acren Military are being recalled to active service. Intense rebuilding are put into the Air Force and Navy, with the focus in the Navy. More factories are ordered to build state of the art ships and naval weapons. Already active Forces start to build up on the western seaboard.

[South Raznakova]

SR troops continue to move into Estonia, and are met with little resistance from locals. The local government has already surrendered, and the SR army are expected to reach the capital in a matter of hours.

[Dyllonia]

Dyllonus Manor, Dyllongrad



It had been a few years since the theocrat New Sollis had been slain in the capital and even longer since Csasar Dominik surrendered to Mitchel Opperman and the WAU in Winchester. It was Dominik who unleashed the fascist disease on Dyllonia when he destroyed his faulty band of counselors and turned an empire into a birodalom. For decades Dyllonics suffered under this man’s rule. It ended the day a TSAR assassin murdered Dominik. When Dominik was gone, everyone thought Ostromtorony, his son, would inherit the fascist throne. But instead he chose to adopt the Oppermenian style of rule, to seat a prime minister of greater power then the king!

Before the first election, Ostrom fled to Winchester and never returned to Dyllonia. It became apparent that the young siege tower was not returning when the theocrat New Sollis occupied Dyllongrad and corrupted the minds of many. But thanks to Oppermenia, this civil war between theocrats and democrats was won by Andy Rose and the democrats. Rollo Vezetes, a descendant of the founder of Dyllonia, assumed the throne democratically and his family line rightfully controls the crown and Andy Rose as the nation's first ever prime minister still reigns.

Soon Dyllonics realized what a scoundrel Dominik Buluru really was. He murdered innocents for power, plunged Dyllonia into foolish wars like the First Acrenese War, and even shot down his own son’s plane when he went missing. The royal title became Dagger King and Talon Queen and Dominik has been erased from the face of the 20F Forint.


Dagger-King Rollo stared outside his bedroom window. It was a lovely view of Dyllongrad, across the city you could see the Kormany, where meetings were held and government business done. On top of the Kormany where the grey eagle banner of Dominik once sat was the new Dyllonic tricolor, proudly waving through the clear sky. He took a sip of his tea, looking down into it dismayed at how much sugar he lowered into it. He looked down into his yard and saw his friend and partner, Andrew Rose walking his door. He had been close with Andy since even before they became the Democratic Duo who guided Dyllonia out of the hard times Dominik forced them under.

He went ahead and made his way downstares and before he made it there, his High Counselor Azrael beat him there to answer the door. Azrael was still new to the duty of High Counselor, when you were the monarch’s high counselor you were essentially an adviser and a part time butler. He missed Haskil for what little time he got to know him. He was both Dominik and Imperator Ondelmor’s counselor and he was very old when he died.

"G'day!" Rose beamed.
"And what do I owe this surprise, Mr. Rose?" Rollo announced, embracing him in for a hug.
"Just a little conversation, Rolf."
Azreal retreated to the kitchen to brew a small pot of coffee. Soon the building wore the fresh smell the warm drink unleashed. Rollo and Andy Rose sat down on two soft recliners. "Does the new title feel better?" Rose asked.
"So much better," Rollo sighed, "I felt guilty wearing Nik the Prick's title of Csasar." Rollo liked to use the popular insult against his predecessor.
"Dominik sullied our country indeed. His son wasn't much better."
"He had a good heart but he was never ready for the powers of a ruler. I wonder where he is right now."
"He isn't dead I will tell you that. Captain Sarvos finally confessed that he stayed in that Deutsch-Britannia country."
"I wish I could do that." Rollo laughed.
The smell of coffee grew stronger as Azreal laid down two identical mugs of black coffee for them, also laying out sugar and creamer. Rollo thanked him and dismissed him. Andy Rose smiled. "Is he a good lad?" he asked when he left the room.
"That he is," Rollo admitted, "I only wish he spoke more. Getting him to speak was harder then getting New Sollis out of Dyllongrad."
"Here's to getting New Sollis out of Dyllongrad!" Rose joked, lifting up his mug.

[South Acren]

Fredrick thinks to himself at his desk then a though passses into his head. "South Raznakova. They will surely help out." He begins to write a telegram.
To whom it may concern,
I realize we have been allies in the past and i hope to keep this alliance. I will be sending troops into the Philippines to reclaim lost territory. If you could suppport this with either forces or a public announcement agreeing with my decision you have my word South Acren will help with any obstical that stands against you. This i promise

The SR airforce reaches the capital, however, with the surrender of the local government, Estonia now belongs to the Armed Communist states of South Raznakova. With Estonia now under SR control, the Belarus invasion force begins to move in.

In the office of the General Secretary

The General Secretary looks out of the window of Kremlin in Moscow. He takes a puff of his cigarette, then he hears a knock on the door.

"Come in.", says the General Secretary.

His Minister of Defence walks in.

"Sir, I am here to inform you that Estonia is now completely under our control, our troops have now begun moving into Belarus."

"Excellent General, continue to keep me informed".

"Yes Sir.", the general salutes, takes two steps back, turns on his heel and walks out the door.

[Persia-Kebabistan]

In 2020, the Islamic Republic of Iran faced mass protests as the people desired a change of government. By the end of the year, the IRI was overthrown, leaving Iran without a government.

The Iranians established a parliamentary constitutional monarchy as the national government, expecting a change to democracy would improve their country.

At first, this seemed to improve Iran's position, as the economy began to grow and Iran was able to enter the Western Atlantic Union, an alliance of democratic countries. However, the Iranian government declined into corruption and the nation began to destabilize. The Iranian people began to lose faith in democracy.

Many people wanted Iran to restore the IRI, but a certain man from Shiraz thought differently. Kourosh Aryanpour, the leader of the Persian Fascist Party, advocated for another revolution to end what he saw as the degradation of Iran and her people.

His support grew and the Shah began to crack down on the PFP by suppressing protests and eventually outlawing the party altogether. The Iranian public, who had begun to take a liking to Aryanpour and his ideology, disliked this.

One day, Aryanpour, leading PFP protesters, marched into Tehran, demanding the Shah step down. The Shah refused and sent the military to end this protest.

Much of the military, however, supported Aryanpour as well, and rather than defend the Shah, they turned against him. The officers tried to stop this, but it was too late, and the Iranian military began to march with the protesters.

The Shahanshah was forced to step down and Aryanpour was declared the Rahbar of Iran.

He embarked on an ambitious quest to restore Iran to the glory of the old Persian Empires.

First, he requested that Iran be referred to as Persia in foreign correspondence to associate his country with the old Persian Empires.

He then embarked on wars of expansion, conquering Turkey and Iraq, both of which he saw as longtime foes, Turkey since the time of the Ottomans, and Iraq since the time of the Neo-Babylonians.

If he plays his cards just right, Persia will become a powerful empire once again.

Aryanpour looks to the north of Iran and sees Raznakova, a powerful communist country. He knows tensions may rise between Raznakova and Persia because Persia is fascist, Raznakova is communist, and Persia and Russia were historically enemies.

He sends a proposition to Raznakova, suggesting that Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan function as a buffer zone between Raznakova and Persia to maintain peace between the two.

Aryanpour is currently in Baghdad, boasting about his victory against Iraq. The Iranian military is stationing soldiers throughout Iraq to prevent rebellion.

Aryanpour decides some more expansion is necessary. Persia's soldiers in Iraq are told to mobilize for yet another campaign. They are told it will help secure Persia's acquisitions. Persia moves soldiers to Iraq's borders, while more soldiers pour in from Persia proper to keep order in Iraq.

[South Raznakova]

The General Secretary receives the telegram and sends a response.

"Fredrick, it is good to hear from you again. Of course I will support you moving troops into the Philippines. I will make a public announcement once you have begun the operation. However, I am afraid that at the moment, because I am re-taking the territories of the USSR, I am unable to provide you with troops. However, should you encounter heavy resistance, I will send some troops, as I am assuming operation crimson dawn will not take too long."

[South Raznakova]

The General Secretary sends a message to Aryanpour, telling him that he thinks that the buffer zone is a good idea, but warns him that the governments of Azerbaijan and Georgia have pledged loyalty to SR and will soon be under complete SR control, and that Persia should take not action against these two territories.

[Ithallis]

General Shrane wiped his brow as he picked up the report in his hands. His worst fears realized. Elements of the Blacksmiths Terror Group were funded by Raznakovian militants. He had no proof as of yet that the Raznakovian government had a hand in this, but it was clear that the money trail came from the East of Ithallis.

Shrane quickly compiled a report and headed to the capital of Zabayral. Ithallis...no, Thaecia,...had to know the truth...

[Oppermenia]

Ser Michael Stein, Prime Minister of the Crowned Democratic Union of Oppermenia, sat in his office reading up on current events. SR's Vodovenko has given a speech saying SR would become one of the world's most powerful countries once more, and one of his advisers handed him a message from the communist nation saying they wish to be allies. Stein did not buy it. And South Acren .... Oh, he was becoming increasingly suspicious of them.

Stein had seen dictators in many forms throughout his life. First, in the form of the Premiership, then in fascist countries like SA and the communist SR. Michael was tired of these dictators gaining power, thinking they're entitled to total control of their people and the world. They had seemingly eradicated dictatorships, but sweet things never last. Now, fascism and dictatorships are spreading like wildfire. The Prime Minister did not like it. He would have no more of dictators trampling on their people, the people who only exist as objects of power for the dictators...

For years, Oppermenia has appeased dictators, and what good has that done them? Michael Stein paged his Press Secretary. "Wanda, put me on the air. I have an address to give to our people."

"People of Oppermenia,

"I, Ser Michael Stein, address you here, in my office, as Prime Minister of the Crowned Democratic Union of Oppermenia. Our country has faced many hardships throughout the years. From the dictatorship that was the socialist Premiership, to the Civil War, to Max Benham and the ElksPack. Of course, we overcame this. Like we always do, because as we like to say, 'Stick to the pack, and the pack will provide.'

"Now, we've been very lucky in our prosperity, but other people in the world aren't so lucky. They've been the subjects repeatedly throughout the years of tyrannies and oppressive governments. These are formal words, but I have a different name for them: dictators. We thought they were gone, but no. They are very much alive and well, resurfaced to plague the world once more and spread like dangerously like the cancer it is.

"We have stood by for too long while these dictators took away their people's right to choose, and their God given right of liberty! We have taken the flawed strategy of appeasement for far too long! Oppermenia cannot, and will not, continue to tolerate dictatorships. Some say we have to not be so rash and negotiate with them. To them I say, YOU CANNOT NEGOTIATE WITH A TIGER WHEN YOUR HEAD IS IN ITS MOUTH!

"Now, we do not want war, and we will avoid war at every turn. But, we sure as God don't want the oppression of innocents to continue. To the dictators of the world, I plea to you, think about your people. How would you feel in their shoes?

"This has been a desktop chat. This is Ser Michael Stein, Prime Minister of Oppermenia, signing out. May God and the Great Wolf be with us all! And, Hail to the King!"

King Kevin is horrified after hearing Stein's speech. Consulting with Parliament, he and top members of Parliament release a statement saying the Prime Minister's speech in no way reflects the views and policies of Oppermenia as a whole.

[South Acren]

The General Secretary receives the telegram and sends a response.

"Fredrick, it is good to hear from you again. Of course I will support you moving troops into the Philippines. I will make a public announcement once you have begun the operation. Fredrick gets the letter and breaths a sigh of relief. He sends back a message. "Thank you my old freind. I will support your expansion in anyway possible. I am glad you did. I fear something may happen soon."
The build up on the western coast is finished. The reformed navy, with new highly advanced ships. They begin their travel across the Pacific.

[South Raznakova]

With Estonia now under SR control and Belarus nearly under SR control, troops begin moving into Latvia. After negotiating with the Georgia and Azerbaijan governments, those countries have surrendered full power to SR, however, SR troops will wait to move in. So far the operation is going very well. Meanwhile, the General Secretary watches the speech of Michael Stein on the TV.

"Godamn pig. Its like he wants to be assassinated."

He turns to his Minister of Internal Affairs.

"Are our spies in place Mikhail?"

"Yes sir, we have one man on his personal security detail, three more in the staff, as well as operatives keeping him under constant surveillance."

"Excellent Mikhail, we need to make sure that if the Oppermenians cannot keep him under control, we may have to do something."

"Yes sir."

[Persia-Kebabistan]

The General Secretary sends a message to Aryanpour, telling him that he thinks that the buffer zone is a good idea, but warns him that the governments of Azerbaijan and Georgia have pledged loyalty to SR and will soon be under complete SR control, and that Persia should take not action against these two territories.

Aryanpour is unsure of what course of action to take now. He views Georgia and Azerbaijan as countries which have been significantly influenced by Persia and thus should not be under Raznakovan control. However, he can't fight against Raznakova, especially when the two countries he has his eyes on want to be annexed by Raznakova. He considers taking over Armenia, which is also influenced by Persia, but decides it is not worth it.

He replies to Raznakova and says that he will not take action against Georgia and Azerbaijan.

[South Raznakova]

Belarus has fallen under the weight of the iron curtain, Latvia is very close to being completely annexed. SR troops begin to move in to Lithuania. SR troops also begin moving along the border of Moldova.

[South Raznakova]

Troops begin moving into Moldova after the fall of Lithuania and troops also start moving through Georgia and Azerbaijan to Armenia, as both Georgia and Azerbaijan have already pledged allegiance.

[South Raznakova]

With Moldova finally under SR control, it proved harder than most as the locals put up resistance, but after some air raids on the capital they quickly surrendered. Now SR troops, along with Georgian militiamen begin moving into Armenia.

[Persia-Kebabistan]

Aryanpour gives the command to begin motion.

Soldiers on the Iraqi border begin to pass through the border with Kuwait to subjugate it under the Persian flag.

The Emir of Kuwait declares a state of emergency and directs his army to the border with Iraq to push the Persians out.

The Persians are able to penetrate 10 miles past the Kuwait-Iraq border until the Kuwaiti army stops them, causing the front to become stationary.

An extended battle ensues, with the Kuwaitis attempting their last stand to defend their country against Persia.

Aryanpour decides to look for potential allies for Persia.

After some thinking, he decides to ally with Kyrgwalaey. He sends a message to the ruler of Kyrgwalaey asking that Persia and Kyrgwalaey form an alliance.

[South Raznakova]

SR troops finally take Armenia, with the help of Georgian militias. Troops now begin moving to Uzebekistan and Turkmenistan, as Kyrgystan has chosen to allow itself to become a part of the great communist states.

[South Acren]

The armada of ships, 2 fleets in total, arrive at the Philippines. The one fleet continues to the South, their destination being Kuwait. The 1st Fleet prepares to invade the Philippines.

[South Raznakova]

Troops quickly begin moving into Uzbekistan.

[South Raznakova]

Uzbekistan is now under SR control. Now, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are now under control of South Raznakova. The USSR is nearly complete, soon the Iron Curtain will stretch far and wide. Nothing will be able to stop it, nothing.

[The United Artherian Federation]

The Kaiserpalast, Berlin

"Mein Führer, the General der Landstreitkräfte is here for the bi-hourly report."
"Thank you Emil."
The Führer turned to the General. Seated in his comfortable chair in the briefing room, he watched as the General hastily pulled up the presentation he had prepared.
"Mein Führer," He began in a serious tone. "We have credible intel that informs us that the Russians are making aggressive gains into the Baltics and Caucuses. This should not be cause for concern, but at the fast pace they have annexed many nations, we have deemed this a security threat."
"And what is the recommended course of action here?"
"I, along with the rest of the General Staff, recommend that we move troops to the Eastern Border, heavily reinforce East Prussia, and quickly Anchluss Austria and the other nations you have requested that we draw up."
"Very well. Do as you please."
ACTIONS:
-The Reich moves 25% of the Ground Forces to the Eastern Border, with 10% of that moved to East Prussia.
-The Reich moves an invasion force of 300K men, 2k Tanks, 1k IVFs to the Austrian border, and a further 300k, 2k, 1k to the Czech border.
