Toddlers.

Many people have different opinions of toddlers. Some think they're all cute and adorable. Others think they're the devil incarnate.

Personally, I have a negative opinion of toddlers because they're loud little weaklings who can't do anything on their own and they're illiterate and you can't even talk to them about the 1968 Iowa gubernatorial election. Others overlook all this and say they're "cute" (that's debatable) and "what do you expect they're 3 why would they know about the 1968 Iowa gubernatorial election", which just sounds like a lame excuse.

So, what's your opinion on toddlers?

Also, if you somehow haven't figured it out already, that paragraph about my opinion on toddlers was obviously a joke (although many of my points still stand, they can't do anything and they cry a lot and you can't really have a meaningful conversation with them, but... yeah.)

All jokes aside, as a former toddler, I'm allowed to say that toddlers suck.

Sure. They’re not all the same. A lot of the time, when a toddler is spoiled and annoying I blame it on the parents rather than them, they’re the one who’s not controlling it. The toddler is just doing what’s natural.

Also, the poll has vague positive opinion choices because 1. I was rushed and 2. Not as many people seem to like toddlers than dislike them.

More often than not I have a positive opinion about toddlers, because eventhough they are loud little things that can be annoying at times, they are generally cute.
Though I've no idea why my little niece seems to be afraid of me, given that we used to spend many times together in the past.

Also, when you’re older than them, but still a kid (clearly different from the adults), they follow you around everywhere, which can be annoying, especially when you’re a huge introvert that doesn’t like being the centre of attention or being follow around and you just want to be alone but they don’t care.

Ah well, for me when my sister was in her toddler stage she is generally cute. I'm tearing up inside from adorableness when she wore my school uniform and went with me to school.

It’s not really an excuse. It is the truth of the matter. You yourself, as well as me, were toddlers at one time. We probably did annoying things and were loud because we were children in a developmental stage.

I'm sure OP made this thread after having to spend an hour or so near crying toddlers at a restaurant. Or something similar.

They call it the terrible twos for a reason. Its awfully annoying and taxing to deal with, but it'll pass in only a few years. It's something a woman (if not the mother) is better suited to handle.

I'd say 5 years of age is the minimum age where a kid becomes somewhat easier to look after. At least they can talk to you to a limited extent. They can talk to you fully if they're bright. They're old enough then to actually start school, which is great.

I don't like the loud noises and mess that comes with kids but hating the world's most vulnerable people for inconveniencing you with their noises and mess is insane.

Occasionally terrible, sometimes brilliant; but yes, they do somehow - always - manage to find a way to grow up in due course. (Case in point: my daughter, now somewhere in the region of twenty-one-and-a-half.)

Same here. I have a really horrible story of hearing my friend's 3 year old daughter screaming her lungs out when she was put to bed. They acted like it was normal but it shook me up so much because I could tell she was terrified of something more than just the boogeyman under her bed. I actually cried hearing it and my friend's sister had to hold me. Sadly my gut feeling about her screaming was correct...she was being sexually abused by her grandfather. My intuition is...very strong. Sometimes I wish it wasn't.

I have a lot of trouble listening to children and women screaming, even if it's in delight.

I did not. I had the idea last week, I forget how or why, but never got around to making the thread until now.
