BREAKING NEWS!
Ministry of Defence announces Mobilization!
Federal Armed Forces placed on high alert!

Mobilized Reserve Personnel in Caceres

The Ministry of State Defence of the Iberian Federation has issued a Class 1 Alert in which the Ministry's Spokesperson issues a statement as of this moment. * report cuts to live feed in the Ministry's Building in Madrid*
Recently, Lusophine aircraft have conducted air strikes against targets inside Galician sovereign territory and therefore violated Galicia's rights as an Independent Nation. German forces also assisted the Lusophine armed forces in their attack against our small Iberian neighbor. We cannot allow this to go on further anymore. The Federal Armed Forces are now getting orders that they are to be deployed on high alert. Federal Jets are now being scrambled to defend the nation against these threats. Viva Iberia!

In Schools, a nationwide ordinance from the Ministry of Education mandates the creation of a Civil Defence Unit in every School District. All Schools in the Iberian Federation will conduct drills in case of Enemy Air Attack, Chemical Attack, Enemy Occupation, or Enemy excursions. Rural areas also are experiencing the effects of the mobilization. Checkpoints are erected up in places close to the Borders.

The Austro-Danubian Empire

Image

Bratislava: An Empress's First Move

Image
The beautiful city of Bratislava.
The city of Bratislava has been under Austro-Danubian occupation for more than a year, as the successful Second Austro-Polish Conflict left the Empire's Volkswehr in control of the city. The key to the Danube, the city saw horrific fighting in the Empire's first intervention in Poland as Austrian and Italian forces struggled to take the city from the Workers' Front. When the Workers' Front once again posed a threat to the sovereignty of the Empire and opened fire on Danubian peoples in Bratislava, General Edmond von Grau's "Operation Rubicon" saw the swift capture of the city (and the entirety of the Danube for that matter) at the cost of only 114 Austrian fatalities.

The Volkswehr has kept the peace in Bratislava for over a year as Austrian, Italian, and Fregantes investments saw the city prosper. The introduction of the Mediterranean Commerce Guild (MCG) and the Aureus saw the economy of the city boom as it had finally integrated itself into the stable economy of the Triumvirate instead of the war torn mess that Poland's new administration inherited.

The young Empress Nicole II made one thing clear in her coronation: she would continue her father's work of protecting all Austrian and Danubian peoples wherever they may be, and work in the benefit of both the Triumvirate and Europe as a whole. As many expected her first action as Empress to be executing a swift and brutal revenge on the Iron Guard, her introduction to legislation has proved wise. It has been clear for a while that Bratislava should be officially introduced into the Empire and that military occupation was only a temporary solution to securing the Danube. The late Emperor Martin's legislation stagnated in the latter half of his reign, however, as the peacefulness brought by the Triumvirate and the strength of the Empire brought a Golden Age that many civilians of the Empire didn't want to disturb in any way. The Empire as a whole was happy, but the people of Bratislava felt between two nations and confused. The Empire has awakened from its slumber since the death of the Emperor, and its many problems have resurfaced themselves once again.

It was with this in mind that Empress Nicole II lifted the occupation of Bratislava and welcomed the city as an official part of the Empire. The fourth city state and fifteenth continental province, the Empire gains 450,000 inhabitants in the District of Bratislava celebrates the end to its interregnum. Furthermore the 10,000 Austrian soldiers taking part in the peaceful occupation of the city have been called to return to their homes. As citizens of the Empire, the inhabitants of Bratislava are now completely eligible for the benefits of both the Empire and the Triumvirate. The Imperial Governor (former mayor) of the city has declared a day of city-wide celebration as fire works and parties ignite throughout its vibrant streets.

When asked of how the European community will respond to the move, the Empress simply responded that "...we Europeans should be looking at the actual issues that are presented to us. What has happened in Bratislava is a long sought solution to an issue that is between the Empire and Poland and would be foolish to be brought up as blood is being spilled in the hills of Galicia."

Imperial Response to Iberia

Image
Austrian personnel in the iconic lavender gear.
The majority of Europe watches as war rages in her western corner. The United Roman Triumvirate, and by extension the Austro-Danubian Empire, has officially declared neutrality in response to Portugal and the German Union's perhaps unlawful war over the independent nation of Galicia.

Although this move was approved by both the Austrian Directory and the Roman Senate, Empress Nicole II has declared that she would "...not rest idly as innocents are slaughtered and butchered on European soil." In addition to announcing that she would be stepping up defense protocol throughout the Empire to prevent German expansionism from affecting any Imperial Dominion, she has declared that she would do all in her power to safeguard innocent lives in Iberia while maintaining Austrian neutrality. No stranger to war and destruction, the Austro-Danubian Empire holds sympathies with a land struggling to unite or defend itself depending on the point of view.

On the Empress's orders, Austrian diplomats met with Iberian officials in Madrid to discuss any and every way in which Austrians could work to prevent unnecessary loss of life. Iberia and Austria share a long history with one another, at one point even being important allies in the days before the Imperial League transformed into the Triumvirate. Perhaps attempting to rekindle this friendship and because of the fact that Austria sees Iberia as the rightful negotiator and middle man between the Portuguese/German invaders and the Galician/Puertollanoan defenders, the talks went exceedingly well according to those that attended.

The Empress, as a result of these talks, has declared the formation of the "Iberia Korps." 20,000 members of both the Wehrmacht and the Reichswehr have volunteered themselves into a temporary unit to serve as peacekeepers and to aid civilians in need wherever they may be on the Iberian Peninsula. In order to save money they have taken the iconic and out of commission lavender garments and standards of the Imperial Peace Corps (IPC for short), which serve to blatantly extinguish themselves on the battlefield. Although non combatants, they are armed for self defense and to protect the commonfolk should any party commit crimes against them.

Upon assembling themselves in Austro-Croatia they have boarded transport ships that will be escorted by the Kriegsmarine to Tarragona, where they will make their landing. From Tarragona they will travel to Zamora, which will be their main base to launch peacekeeping operations out of. Although currently only working with Iberian officials and on any fronts that Iberia may take part in, the Iberia Korps under General Julian Walter has opened itself to Galicia as well, offering to take up posts in Galicia to combat any war crimes committed by Portuguese or German aggressors.

The Iberia Korps has been ordered to not fire unless fired upon, or unless civilians come into any deliberate danger from any aggressor. Should any of these small groups be shot at by any party, larger parties of Iberia Korps personnel will be dispatched to free them through force if necessary.

Flags at half mast across the country as nation mourns 5th anniversary of July Hotel Incident

By Public Correspondent, Park Min Soo

Image

An emotional day for the nation and the city of Yokonomiya as the 5th anniversary of the terrorist holdup at the July Hotel, formerly on of the most prominent hotels of the city is being observed across the country. Candlelight vigils will be held tonight at specific locations in cities and towns all across the country

The July Hotel Incident was orchestrated by the Left Front, Bengal’s only militant leftist group that was wiped out 2 years ago through joint efforts by the Tohko, the Police and the Self-Defense Forces. The incident claimed the lives of 29 innocent and unarmed civillians, 3 of them children below the age of 12. And its known by many as the worst terror attack ever to take place in Bengal, and is also considered to be the root of Bengal’s hatred of the far-left.

Regarding the attack, its believed that there was a FSR link supporting the militants who struck the hotel, since the weapons recovered were of FSR origin. It is believed that the remnants of the Left Front that survived the crackdown crossed the Sangu River into Burma, possibly never to be seen again, leaving the people of Bengal in a thirst for justice. However, there is some hope, since one of the contributing factors of Prime Minister Itai Suzuha’s election victory is bringing the Left Front back from Burma to stand for trial for their misdeeds.

Marina Militare and Bengali Navy conduct naval exercises in the Bay of Bengal

Today it was announced that both the Bengali and Italian navies have begun conducting naval exercises in the Bay of Bengal to improve the interoperability of the Bengali Navy and the Marina Militare and to improve the skills of both navies in air defence and shore landings. The Italian government wishes to reaffirm both Italy and the DEU's commitment to Bengal as an important partner of Europe that holds a trade agreement with the DEU and is supportive of the DEU internationally.

The Bengali and Italian navies conducted a joint landing exercise consisting of Bengali Marines and the Italian San Marco Marine Brigade in the swampland of the Sundarban National Forest, testing the ability of soldiers to operate in some of the most difficult landing conditions possible, as well as assessing the suitability of the landing craft and RHIB's possessed by both navies in delivering soldiers to such remote, shallow locations. Following these exercises the two navies conducted anti-aircraft and anti-missile exercises, utilising Leonardo's new M-40 target drone which is able to convincingly mimic a variety of aircraft and missiles. During the exercise, the M-40 played the part of a missile to simulate an attack against the Italian and Bengali naval vessels and separately acted as a hostile enemy fighter in air-to-air combat scenarios. During these missions, the navy personnel were able to ‘shoot down’ the reusable M-40 in realistic scenarios, allowing them to train with their weapon systems.

The exercises are part of the Marina Militare's new Global Projection Initiative, which seeks to bolster the presence of the Marina Militare outside of the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and the Southern Ocean where the navy its traditionally most present. The purpose of this increased presence is to reaffirm the Italian governments support for the interests of shipping companies that are often concerned with piracy in major shipping lanes. As well as this, the government states that it is representing DEU and URT interests across the worlds oceans by protecting trade and European citizens and assets working on the oceans, particularly the Fregantese Merchant Marine, which is the worlds largest merchant fleet, with its registered ships operating globally in almost every shipping lane.

(Real) Democracy in Lebanon may be near

Image
General Saddam Omar Aladeen was not only the Supreme Commander he was also President and Prime Minister. So with no constitutional successor (because he was his own Prime Minister) who is running Lebanon right now? Under the General's decades-long rule, Lebanese society has often revolved around the military and so it wouldn't be a mistake to think that in this confusing time, the military would take charge but, that is not the case. Not just government officials who reluctantly worked for General Saddam, but everyday hopeful Lebanese know that this period of transition could finally be an opportunity for democracy, and they see Amal Aladeen as the one who can bring that about.

Under General Saddam, the government and the military's relationship was one, but it seems not anymore. Before the public and the world was informed of the General's death, senior officials in government were the first to be informed. And guess who the last were? The military. Some say this is in an effort to prevent a military takeover of the country. The military found out the moment the world did. Government officials hopeful for democracy prepared and planned the course of events leading up and after the announcement of the General's death, and it included trying to define the country's leader before external forces could.

It is clear now, that they have come quickly around Alamuddin "Amal" Aladeen, the late General Saddam Omar Aladeen's eldest daughter. She currently functions as de facto leader because of her standing as the eldest of the General's children and as the most senior government official of General Saddam's children. But who is Amal Aladeen?

Amal Aladeen's official government position is "Chief Counsel to the President." Of course government ministers could have been chosen, but democracy in Lebanon right now is a front, and the General and his family were seen as royalty in everything but paper. Before working in government, she spent much of her time up until 2019 abroad, where she lived her own private life and is a lawyer highly educated in international law and human rights.

Amal's first appearance as the country's de facto leader was an address to the nation following the announcement of the General's death, where she announced that a National Transition Council is in charge of government. Her speech to the country was special because for the first time ever since the General's revolution, a real election is going to take place in Lebanon. The Revolutionary Command Council has been dissolved to begin the path to drafting a constitution that will eventually create a governing legislature for the people. For now, the election taking place will be for the country's provinces to elect delegates to the Constitutional Convention.

In a separate statement released to the public after her address, Amal addressed questions whether she will be the country's new president. She said that if she were to seek to lead the country, she would ask for permission from the people through an election, not by force. This would mean that there could also be a presidential election. Since the country has been a one party totalitarian dictatorship, now other national figures other than government ministers and military leaders are being seen as possible other candidates for the presidency. Amal's brother and General Saddam's youngest son, Admiral General Aladeen Aladeen, has not spoken since the announcement of his father's death, or made any public appearances. His office says he is currently "privately mourning."

Cape Thetis government announces NAF$18 billion offshore expansion plan for Eusebio Kino International Airport

Today the government of Cape Thetis announced that it has allocated NAF$18 billion to the expansion of Cape Thetis' only civilian airport, Eusebio Kino International, which will include building artificial land off the shore of the existing airport in order to add a third runway and 4th terminal to the major airport. The Cape Thetis government has selected the civil engineering and infrastructure construction company Impresa Pizzarotti to carry out the major works which will also include building a new express metro line connecting all 4 terminals to Nuovo Milano Central Station.

Impresa Pizzarotti is one of Italy's oldest infrastructure companies and is amongst the leading Italian and European construction sector companies operating in the design and construction of major civil and infrastructure works, such as buildings, hospitals, roads and motorways, rail works and underground works. Transport infrastructure (roads, motorways, railways, underground railways, airports and ports) are Pizzarotti Group's primary area of activity, both in Italy and abroad making the company an excellent choice for undertaking this challenging task that is critical to the economic growth and success of Cape Thetis.

The project will add 7.85 km2 of land to Eusebio Kino International Airport and will allow for a much greater number of daily flights by adding a third runway and having more gates available for use. The airport has been running at max capacity for several years even after the Cape Thetis government granted the airport NAF$600 million in 2018 to extend terminal 3 to add extra gates to accommodate the growth in passenger flights from across the globe. As well as building the artificial land, third runway, 4th terminal and express metro line, Impresa Pizzarotti has also been contracted to building a large offshore breakwater that will surround the artificial land and help in the prevention of erosion at the cost of several hundred million Aureuses.

The Glusagos-Benghazi Paper

Space and Aeronautics Administration HQ Complete

The headquarters for the SSAA has been completed in Harefoot. The new HQ comes complete with a launch pad, tracking station and other things. The President of the SSAA, Alex Gaggerain, has this to say about the completion,

“The completion of this headquarters is a sign of the changing times here in Segentaea. Long gone are the days of old Libya. We will launch an astronaut into to space to orbit the Earth this coming January. We thank Kaspar Vydesbourne for his unwithering support for Segentaea and this institution.”

Anti-Segen Forces Crashing Down

While some Revolutionary forces escaped to Tunisia, the Tunisian Government has been working close with Segen officials to ensure their capture. Inside our borders, the last revolutionaries have been destroyed. This brings an end to anti-western ideas and communist uprisings within.

Kaspar Vydesbourne Diagnosed

Yesterday, a press statement came out by the Segen Government disclosing information about the President. It addresses the governments lack of recent action and the reason behind it. Kaspar Vydesbourne has been diagnosed with Stage III Liver Cancer. Besides this, no more information has been released regarding Vydesbourne’s illness.

Clashes erupt in Balabac between Police and protestors

A car set of fire by protestors burns as police close the A2 Highway from traffic
BALABAC CITY - Last November 6,2023, according to Balabac Island Police, several gun battles occurred between police and protestors in and around Balabac City area. These is seen by the police as an escalation of tensions by the protestors part less than a week since the first protests occurred, demonstrating frustration on Australian rule and the supposed removal of opposition groups by Australian and Balabac officials, in the case of the Diana Gonzalez Kidnapping.

Near Balabac’s Island Council building, the police are saying that the first gun shots heard came from the protestor groups and in retaliation police fired back. The result of the gun battle led to panic and stampeding as crowds upon crowds fled the area. People are suggesting that between 30 to 50 people were killed in these gun battles, and other sources from the Island and opposition groups suggest that more than a thousand people were injured.

The police reported their forces sustained 6 killed and 20 wounded in what they are saying is a coordinated attack on the police force, and that these attacks can only mean that law and order will only spiral out of control if only a civilian police force is sent out.

Almost immediately, news of the shootings traveled fast. Many of the nearby protests in the Balabac City area encountered gun battles between unknown shooters and police forces.

For some residents these string of police shootings and exchanges between police and protestors may be a final straw to seeing the government as an ally in finding more autonomy for the island. Many Balabac resident feel that their way of life and autonomy is threatened by the government and that of the Australian government, and that there remains few options to choose from other than reform or out right independence.

JACKPOT! Diana Gonzalez found and rescued, now under recovery
November 9,2023 | Jessica Nate Sanchez
Image
Diana Gonzalez has been rescued after 8 days of being held kidnap
DEREK -The ongoing crisis in Balabac may probably had started from the August 23 Incident, but many are in agreement that the crisis intensified right after the news of the kidnapping of Diana Gonzalez. The kidnapping not only gave protesters an opportunity to demonstrate against Australian and Balabac officials, but it also opened a racial debate of whether or not the Australian and Balabac government are suppressing the diverse nationalities that reside in the Island, particularly the Latin and Filipino communities.

In the days following the kidnapping of Ms. Gonzalez, the situation in Balabac completely worsened with police and protesters exchanging gunfire and the possible deployment of Australian troops. It can be said that Ms. Gonzalez’s continued disappearance only increased the anxiety and fear of Balabac residents to their own safety, which led to further trouble and disorder.

However many people are starting to change attitudes and personas after police forces reported that they had successfully rescued the 27-year old after a 4 hour car chase with her kidnappers. She is currently being hospitalized for her injuries and is expected to be so for the next following week alongside her family.

There are however some people that think that the rift between the government and the people of Balabac cannot be mended and that time will only tell if protests turn into battles and revolution.

Army mobilizing troops for Balabac Crisis

1st Battalion, 7th Division, troops prepare to leave Candaraman Island
for Balabac Island

HOBART - It is official. The Australian military will be sending almost 3,000 military personnel to the Australian Island Territory of Balabac, military officials announced in a media press conference in Hobart Military Base.

The military personnel will be coming from the 1st and 2nd Army Battalions of the 7th Army Division, the same military personnel that participated in ‘New Dawn 2025’ military exercises. Military officials stated that these force will be ‘enforcing the rule of law of Australia’ in the island territory. These comes after several organized attacks were conducted by protesters on the civilian police force of the island resulting to several police and civilian injuries and deaths.

Many opposition leaders in the Legislature House are criticizing the sending of troops and have even suggested that PM Morrison is outright killing democracy in the island territory for the sake of ‘national security’ even though it is clear that the situation has spiraled out of control because of the lack of integrity to committing to the self-autonomy reforms promised to the Balabac territory by Morrison’s administration.

New 'Angelo Dibona' Antarctic research station at the south pole begins operations

Today a new Italian Antarctic research station was opened, named the 'Angelo Dibona Station', after the famous Italian mountaineer who is remembered as one of the great pioneers of climbing in the Dolomites and is responsible for many first ascents throughout the Alps. The Aiguille Dibona mountain in France and the Campanile Dibona mountain in Italy are named after him. The station is the 4th permanent Italian station to be opened on the continent and is the furthest inland of any of the stations, being located at the south pole.

The station is home to two powerful telescopes and an observatory, all of which have been named after famous Italian astronomers. The Giovanni Schiaparelli Observatory (GSO) is named after astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli who is famously responsible for naming the seas and continents of Mars used today through his telescopic observations of the planet in the 19th century. The Annibale de Gasparis Telescope (AdGT) is named after the astronomer Annibale de Gasparis who was responsible for the discovery of many asteroids in the mid-19th century. Finally, the Angelo Secchi Cosmic Extragalactic Polarization Telescope (ASCEPT) is named after famous Italian astronomer Angelo Secchi who was the first scientist to authoritatively state that the Sun is a star and discovered many characteristics of the Sun that were previously unknown such as the presence of solar spicules.

The National Antarctic Research Program (PNRA) is directed by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) through two national bodies, the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) for the coordination of scientific research and the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) for the implementation of the Antarctic expeditions, for logistics and the maintenance of the two Antarctic stations. The National Antarctic Program started in 1985 with the formation of the Programma Nazionale di Ricerche in Antartide (PNRA) and the National Scientific Committee for Antarctica (CSNA) and today is one of the key Antarctic institutions for research and logistics on the continent, working with the Aeronautica Militare and Marina Militare for shuttling to Antarctic stations and field camps using their aircraft, helicopters and cargo/research ships and offer their services to the Antarctic programs of other countries.

Bengal welcomes Aussie pilots and fighter jets. KawaReturn2UK returns 2 the streets again

By Foreign Sub-Correspondent, Yoroi Mikoto

Image

On the 25th of December, Bengal got a (paid)Christmas gift from the Commonwealth of Australia, in the form of 8 F/A-19 Fighter Jets, which will serve as the Air Self-Defense Force's most advanced combat aircraft. Prime Minister Itai welcomed the Australian pilots who gave the crowd a spectacular airshow before descending on Dhaka-Ilrong International Airport and met up with their Air Self-Defense Force counterparts who would take the reins of what would be the forefront of Bengali air defense.

The F/A-19 came as a part of a defense deal with Australia, one of the Asia Pacific region's rising military powers. The Deal also included positioning of Australian military personnel in Bengal, as well the sale of advanced warships to the Bengal Maritime Self-Defense Force, and mutual cooperation in terms of security and economy.

The Bengali government and a large portion of society believe this deal to be a stepping stone in combating Japanese aggression in the region. According to a release by the Foreign Ministry
This deal will bring mutual benefit to both our countries. Bengal as an economic power has a duty to invest in our brotherly nations of the Asia-Pacific region and bring millions out of poverty, and Australia as a military power has a duty to protect this diverse and beautiful geographic region from those who seek to destroy what our people have achieved.

Image

However, there are those who are not happy to see this cooperation between Australia and Bengal. Members of the organisation KawaReturn2UK, a group that advocates for Bengal to return to British colonial rule, used their New Year's holiday to bring out protests across the country, the largest taking place in the capital, Minato, numbering 10.000. Their demands were for Bengal to not host Australian troops, but rather to host British troops instead. A tiny number of them also called Australia "a traitor to the Crown" referring to their Republic referendum, however, they were silenced by the original demands for closer cooperation with the UK.
Although they aren't officially numerically superior, it should be noted that they started a movement for the Tiger on the Bay flag, the territory flag of colonial Bengal, to be designated as a national flag. That movement got a lot of sympathy from the majority of the population, and forced the government to agree.

COMMENTS
AKADESU :Its sad to see that a lot of people are clinging onto British colonialism. August 17th is the worst day independent Bengal had to experience. That's the day the colonial flag was given an equal standing to the Midorimaru, a flag already covered in Imperialism
/TinyBuff : The Tiger on the Bay lives on...
Image
/SekaiAKA : Most people were satisfied with how the UK ran things here in Bengal. Why does your political alignment cover your eyes? If not for Britain, we would be slaves to the Japanese, and we would be living in huts and would have pissed on the streets like the Indian princely states that were given self rule

KAKAKA : The Twin Powers against the Imperialist aggressor known as Japan. Who will win? Us obviously...

Italian and San Martinian Antarctic programmes announce plans for joint research station in Queen Maud Land

After the recent opening of the latest Italian Antarctic research station Angelo Dibona it was announced that the next research station to open in Antarctica will be a joint venture between the Italian Antarctic programme, the PNRA, and the San Martinian Antarctic programme. Both nations are at the cutting edge of innovation and discovery on the Antarctic continent and the announcement of a joint research station will mean that the Antarctic research programmes of both nations will be boosted further by becoming eligible for greater funding as well as having more staff and equipment on the continent to carry out cutting edge research.

The name of the new research station has been announced as José Fernando Bonaparte, named after the famous Italian-San Martinian palaeontologist who was the son of an Italian sailor and is accredited for San Martinia being one of the top countries in the world in terms of different dinosaur species that have been discovered. Palaeontology is the scientific study of life that existed prior to the start of the Holocene Epoch. It includes the study of fossils to determine organisms' evolution and interactions with each other and their environments. The new station will be devoted to Antarctic palaeontology, a cutting edge field of palaeontology that seeks to discover the prehistoric animals, flora and fauna that were present in Antarctica millions of years ago to give humanity greater knowledge of life on our planet before humanity arose.

The station is expected to be fully opened in 2027 but staff will have access to the station and will be able to begin their studies as early as next year. Despite being dedicated to Antarctic palaeontology José Fernando Bonaparte Station will also be used for other scientific research such as ice core climate analysis, atmospheric monitoring and astronaut training for the ESA.

Leonardo agrees over NAF$130 million worth of drone sales to three nations

Today Leonardo announced new agreements worth a total of NAF$137.2 million to supply drones from Leonardo's new range to the militaries of Bengal, Iberia and Segentaea. The Bengali military will be supplied with 5 Falco Xplorers and 5 AWHEROs, the Iberian military will be supplied with 10 Falco Xplorers, 3 MALE RPAS', 3 Piaggio-Leonardo P.1HH Hammerhead's and 15 AWHEROs meanwhile the Segen military will be supplied with 2 Falco Evo's and a single AWHERO helicopter. The Segen military is the only one which will have Italian weapons and surveillance system provided with the aircraft as it is a much closer partner with Italy than Iberia or Bengal, which will be able to add their own weapons and surveillance systems to the drones.

Leonardo CEO Alessandro Profumo stated that he is proud of the international sales of the new drone range by Leonardo, stating that the sales show that Leonardo is committed to producing quality, cutting edge products for the international market and not just for the needs of the Italian Ministry of Defence as Leonardo is often accused of. But despite this the vast majority of sales of Leonardo's new range come from the Italian government, which has agreed to a huge NAF$3.683 billion procurement of drones from Leonardo's range, suggesting they are tailored to the needs of the Italian military.

Many in the government have criticised the decision of Leonardo and government regulators to allow the sale of military aircraft to Iberia due to the ongoing Galician war which the Italian government has declared neutrality in. A government source defended the decision of the regulators to allow the sale to take place as "prohibiting the sale would breach the Italian governments commitment to neutrality just as much as allowing it, Leonardo is open to sell to both Iberia and Lusophone without discrimination."

Australian Troops arrive as Government declares State of Rebellion in the Island

An Australian military convoy carrying equipment en route to Balabac City
BALABAC CITY - Australian military personnel from the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 7th Infantry Division are now arriving by the day in the Australian Military Base in Balabac Island aboard Canberra class amphibious landing ships in an effort by the Australian Military and the Balabac government to contain unrest and disorder brought about by numerous bloody clashes between Balabac residents and police. This has greatly increased the total number of military personnel in the island from 28,000+ to nearly 30,000+ personnel, however majority of these troops are Support Combat Personnel.

In an unsurprising move ,Governor Andre Bazemore issued a declaration in the Balabac Island Council of a State of Rebellion in the Island in yesterday’s session which was only attended by 30% of the island’s district representatives. Andre Bazemore then left the island for Candaraman Island for security measures.

With the declaration of Balabac being under a State of Rebellion, official control of the government is transferred to direct control by the Australian military and Australian government.

The ongoing unrest and chaos in the island has left thousands of civilians heading to northern areas of the island where the chaos is much more minimal. However, it can be seen from the ground that many lives have been changed. Economically, the once developing financial center of Balabac City is now a hot on a standstill and many businesses have either moved or closed down.

Army to conduct airstrikes against Balabac ‘rebels'

DEREK -Fighting continues in Balabac, particularly in the southern areas of the island. According to the military, multiple groups have armed themselves with military weapons.

The largest of these groups, those who call themselves the Balabac Freedom Fighters (BFF), has control of more than 20 towns and villages with about 2,000 fighters and multiple armored vehicles and technicals. The group has declared through social media that they are ‘not terrorists or rebels but are fighting for the independence of Balabac from a Fascist Australia’.

With more troops arriving from the 2nd Battalion, 7th ID, military personnel have secured large areas of northern Balabac and Balabac City. But staunch resistance by armed rebels has led to military commanders to think of whether or not to cancel the previous order to not use airstrikes in fear of causing collateral damage.

The Australian military has large air bases in Balabac, with more than 80 fighters spread across multiple locations. The air force also has assets from its overseas bases in Hainan, China. The use of such powerful planes could ultimately decide whether or not the conflict will be long or short ,according to the military .

We bring you today’s news...

Vydesbourne Visits Thailand

Yesterday, Kaspar Vydesbourne visited Thailand. Now bald due to ongoing chemotherapy, it is unknown why Vydesbourne visited, but skeptics claim it is due to the possibility of conflict within South East Asia. It is not entirely known if Vydesbourne wants to intervene if conflict breaks out, but the secrecy of the exchange has the world wondering.

Segentaea Expands Air Force

The Segen Air Force announces that it would be expanding it’s air superiority by purchasing 3 Leonardo weapons. With this announcement, more fighter jets have been built to take control of the skies of Segentaea.

The President’s Wife Speaks

In a rare moment, Kaspar Vydesbourne’s wife confronted the news media. She made an announcement on her husband’s complications with cancer.

”Dear Segens, I know that I am not seen often under the microscope of news, but I have some news about Kaspar’s health. As you may or may not know, Kaspar has been diagnosed with cancer for quite some time now. His health is failing more and more each day, and we are painfully counting down his time left with us. The cancer is now terminal. To help others with cancer, my husband decided to set up a foundations to help with cancer research. He has called it, ‘KV Cancer Research’. Kaspar has chosen not to fight anymore, and has chosen to keep bettering our gracious country until the very end. Please respect our family’s privacy during these upcoming moments, and thank you for your time today.”

Gabrielle Vydesbourne soon left the press room, with tears in her eyes.

Sand Across the Ocean

The Segen Government has announced that they will be selling sand to the Maldives. The Maldives has been suffering land loss due to the rising ocean waters. Tons of sand is planned to be excavated and transported by Segen cargo ships across the Indian Ocean to the archipelago nation. In return, the Segen government will be paid an undisclosed amount of money at a later time. Critics say that this is a desperate cash grab, but the Segen government assured that this trade benefits both parties involved.

Mahomes scored 3 touchdowns in the Superbowl victory

KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Chiefs are the Superbowl LVIII Champions after the Chiefs downed the Seattle Seahawks 31-24 in the Mercendes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Patrick Mahomes was named the Superbowl MVP after leading the team with 3 touchdowns and 239 pyds. Running Back Carlos Hyde also recorded 188 ryds and 52 pyds , scoring 1 touchdown.

This is is the Chiefs' second Superbowl Championship in the Mahomes era after winning Superbowl LVI in the aftermath of Tom Brady's retirement from the National Football League. This is also the third championship that AusGroup has won with an American franchise team ever since AusGroup bought the American franchise teams in 2021, first in 2021 with the Milwaukee Bucks, and second in 2022 with the Chiefs winning the Superbowl.

It was not surprising for the Chiefs to go all the way as the KC Chiefs have been one of the most potent teams in the NFL after putting up a 14-2 season record, with the Browns, Rams, and Seahawks also seen as title favorites.

Meanwhile, other AusGroup American team franchises such as the Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks are also contending for the NBA title. The Bucks are predicted to reach at least the Eastern Conference Finals while the Rockets are making a last push to win a championship with their duo of Westbrook and Harden who are nearing the end of their careers but are still considered a blackhorse contender. The Rockets are expected to at least make it out of the first round.

Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) proclaimed

In the years following the devastating Second Nigerian Civil War, Australia and France controlled significant portions of the country. The two nations had been responsible for the defeat of the tyrannical ICN, and for the immediate future were the main providers of aid and security for the failed state. Their two occupation zones, the PSAN and TACT, operated separately and independently of each other. However, as relations between the French Confederation and Australians have continued to improve, it was today announced that a new Federal Republic of Nigeria has formed. The PSAN and TACT territories will now be placed under the administration of the new government, a democratic parliamentary federal republic which is left-leaning economically, socially conservative, and secular. Port Harcourt and Abuja have been designated co-capitols so as to share influence between the north and south, while a new Federal Army has also been established. France and Australia will continue to provide air and naval security, in addition to managing the nation's foreign affairs. Parties and organisations which are of ICN, NHA, or NSR alignment are banned due to threat to national security, with development continuing to remain the main priority of the new nation.

M5S announces it will disband prior to 2025 elections, marking the death of Italy's largest populist party

Today in a speech broadcast live on news channels across Italy, the leader of the left-leaning M5S party Luigi di Maio announced that his party was to disband prior to the 2025 general election, due to the populist party's rapidly declining membership numbers, a history of failures in trying to gain power in Rome and recent polling which predicts that M5S will fall from its current place as the 3rd largest party to the 5th largest party in next years election. Many have been predicting that the party may be at the end of its life for several months due to leaks from senior officials that suggested that the party headquarters in Rome was being prepared to be put on sale.

As Italy's largest populist party its death shows the stagnation and decline of populism in Italy, with the party never able to gain power standing alone or even in a coalition whilst the establishment parties have seen a surge in support thanks to their secure position in government bringing political and economic stability and allowing reforms and legislation to be passed with relative ease.

In his speech Luigi di Maio admitted to the declining support for populism amongst the Italian public and apologised to his fellow party members for his inability to transform and adapt the party to changing public perceptions. In a surprising twist, Luigi de Maio pledged his support to Liberi e Uguali (LeU), a left-leaning establishment party lead by Pietro Grasso, often considered to be one of the most establishment figures in Italian politics, spending most of his life in 'the big game'. Polls already predict that LeU will be the third largest party, usurping M5S, but if the party can manage to attract most of the M5S voters who will be up for grabs it could have a chance of being the 2nd largest party, overthrowing Forza Italia's predicted position of 2nd, which would represent one of the most remarkable shifts in the government for several decades as Forza Italia and Partito Democratico have been the top two parties for decades. The 2025 elections have a lot of hype to live up to so far, but will it deliver?

A Nation is Born, Australia welcomes the Federal Republic of Nigeria
February 7,2024 | An editorial by Roger Peterson
Image
More than 755k people flocked to Port Harcourt to celebrate
the creation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

PORT HARCOURT - After almost 6 years of being a protectorate of Australia since the end of the Second Nigerian Civil War, the time has finally come for The Australian Controlled Territory of Nigeria, popularly known by the abbreviation T.A.C.T., to become part of the new Federal Republic of Nigeria, a union of the protectorates and areas of responsibility of the French PSAN and the TACT.

The TACT has come a long way since the closing moments of the civil war. From a land ruined by bombings, genocides, and famine, the TACT boomed, under Australian supervision and investments, into a prosperous territory, with new infrastructure, broader government services, plentiful harvests, and a renewed sense of security and harmony.

Through Australian supervision, former ruined cities such as Warri, Onitsha, and Benin became hubs for business and retailing, centers for education and entertainment as well as iconic landmarks and tourist destinations. Others such as Port Harcourt now facilitate trade with other countries as huge numbers of container ships and oil tankers stopover in the newly renovated ports and shipyards by TransGen Inc. Under the TACT's own provisional government, rural areas were given significant attention. Farm-to-market roads were constructed, health clinics were constructed, renewable electrical sources were distributed with the help of Helios III.

The Australian Army, Navy and Air Force did not go idle while stationed in the TACT for the past 6 years. In the early months of the creation of the TACT when humanitarian workers and local workers were held at bay due to security concerns, it was the soldiers, sailors, air personnel that worked part-time as construction workers, teachers, doctors, pastors, instructors and service workers while the TACT recovered from the chaos of war. Australian soldiers were tasked to show the fearful Nigerian people that the Australian administration was making them getting back their country to its feet the number one priority.

Security in the TACT was a huge priority of the Australian government and then the TACT's own provisional government. At best, Australia maintained a huge military presence in TACT as a deterrent. However, the Australian military soon launched several military and police training courses across the country in an effort to organize a new security force for the TACT. These efforts resulted in the 500,000 Nigerian Civil Guard, which will soon be integrated into the new Federal Army, an all-volunteer force that would act as a police force, or a military force in times of conflict.

Ever since the PSAN and TACT were made, France and Australia had hoped to unite their areas. Those hopes now come in the form of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. That organization of the new state's government was heavily debated by French, Australian and Nigerian lawmakers. In the end, in order to affirm that every state in the new republic would have its equal share of voice in the national government without the bias of religion, race or state, a conservative parliamentary federal government was agreed upon. In order to solve the problem that the Christian majority South was being favored than the Muslim majority north, two co-capitals were created wherein the government will be able to reach out to every major region, be it in the north or south.

With the creation of a new state in Nigeria, the TACT is officially dissolved. Along with this, the Australian Army will be sending home about 70,000 military personnel from the 80,000 stationed in the country. That includes the veteran army units of the Nigerian Civil War: the 12th Mech. Inf. Division, 30th Mech. Battalion, 7th & 3rd Inf. Brigades, and 5th Battalion. About 13 of the 15 FOBs across the TACT will also be dismantled and replaced into military bases for the new Federal Army. Meanwhile, naval and air force assets will continue to operate in bases in Warri, Forcados and Port Harcourt.

Your Weekly Update:

People React to Balabac Tensions: The recent exponential increase in tensions between the mostly San Martinian population of Balabac Islands and the Australian government has deeply divided politicians. Public statements have been careful to maintain neutrality in the conflict, encouraging the use of non-violence and discussion. However, recent polls show that much of the public hold opinions favorable to the rebels and against the Australian government. When asked questions like "Do you think the the Balabac Island local government should be granted autonomy?" or "Do you agree with the Australian government's deployment of military forces to Balabac Island?", the great majority of people polled offered opinions favorable to the rebels. More inflammatory groups have been quick to accuse the government of tacitly supporting the Australian government's "suppression of the people's will" by not outright condemning it, claiming that the Sánchez administration "has more loyalty to the Australians than to the San Martinians." The no-travel zone established on the island has also been condemned by such persons, claiming it is being used to turn Balabac into a slaughterhouse.

Galician Conflict: The recent invasion of Puertollanoan-controlled Galicia by Portuguese and German forces has been seen by many as a European effort to eliminate South American influence on the continent. The San Martinian government was quick to issue a declaration of neutrality, and most agree with the decisions, albeit for different reasons. Most of the right-wing parties claim that the Europeans have a right to "allow Galicians self-determination, rather than the illusion they've been given by the Puertollanoan puppet regime." Some also claim that it is "inherently wrong for South Americans to occupy land on the European continent," but opponents have attempted to use Cape Thetis as a counterexample to that point, claiming that although Puertollanoan influence in Galicia ran against the interests of Europe, the influence would be impossible to eliminate, and the long and bloody war would only be damaging in the long run.

Election Season Coming Up: Former President Salamanca has recently announced in a surprising move that she will not be re-running for president. No one is entirely sure of the reasons for her decision, but it is likely her party but extreme pressure on her to keep her from running, after her comments about "right-wing media" rose controversially to the national spotlight. This has disappointed many of her supporters, who are more likely to be left-wing populists. However, clearly the party is looking to distance itself from that rhetoric, instead focusing on it's core principle of left-wing nationalism.

Italo-Segen probe launches from SSAA space port to capture images of Pluto

Today the Segen SSAA made its first space launch from its new HQ, a historic moment for the SSAA as well as a historic moment for the entire space industry as a joint Italian-Segen probe was launched into space with plans for it to become the first probe to capture close up images of Pluto as well as record scientific data about the dwarf planet in a world first.

The probe has been named the Celestial Ranger I and the mission has been given the same name. It will take 10 years for Celestial Ranger I to reach Pluto and in the meantime the probe has been designed to take high resolution photos and record data of the planets, asteroids and moons that CRI will pass, giving the world greater insight into planets, moons and asteroids that have already had probes sent to whilst also making groundbreaking new discoveries, measurements and photos of planets, asteroids and moons that have not yet been investigated by probes.

The cost of the programme is estimated to total NAF$900 million by 2034 when CRI is set to reach Pluto, the cost of which will be evenly split between the Italian ASI and the Segen SSAA. The Celestial Ranger Programme the ASI's largest and most groundbreaking project that has been undertaken separately from the ESA, and has created public support for much greater government spending for the ASI, with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who attended the launch in the Segen desert, stating that he hoped that the next government after the 2025 elections overhauls government spending on space to give the ASI the funding to undertake large projects such as the Celestial Ranger Programme more frequently with partners such as the SSAA, ESA but also by itself.

The recipe for a political revolution is brewing. Here are this week's biggest news stories:

Palveiro is losing her edge at the polls: The Defense Ministry since the beginning of the war has refused to release costs and spending towards Galician military operations, but military watchdogs suggest that an official figure whatever it is will put a financial strain on Portugal in the future. The conflict is now affecting national morale, political attitudes and public perception of the President, unfavorable to her re-election -- and the President is not shy about expressing her unhappiness about her approval numbers dipping. At 4:20AM yesterday, President Palveiro tweeted:
"Without this 'Impeachment' Witch Hunt by the extreme left, my poll numbers, especially because of our historically “great” economy, would be very high. Too bad! The greatest Hoax in Portuguese History."

The President's numbers have dipped from her high 71% to 46% in a recent tracking poll (some show her at 42%). It isn't clear what Palveiro hoped to accomplish with this tweet, which appears to say that the electorate is either gullible or stupid, and Palveiro doesn't say which polls she's objecting to, though several fit the bill.

Prior to the war, Palveiro's poll numbers had been improving on good economic news and her tough response to the Lisboa and Norte attacks, a Publico reporter notes, but now she's back to the low 40s, "very near where she's usually been, with somewhat more frequent and recent dips into the high 30s." Palveiro's approval average on Wednesday was 42.7%. A Telejournal poll released Wednesday notched Palveiro's approval rating at a moderately high 41%, but another poll released Tuesday put Palveiro 19 points under water, with 38% of voters approving and 57% disapproving. And as pointed out on Bom Dia Portugal this morning, 54% of voters in that poll said they would definitely vote against Palveiro, putting her in an unwanted league of her own.

Palveiro's recent low poll numbers can also be credited to the recent calls for her impeachment for overriding Parliament's approval of her war. The President however, will not face an impeachment process thanks to her administration’s careful presentation of the Galicia conflict only as an “extended military operation” which is under her presidential prerogative, a parliamentary committee ruled on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Palveiro's government also survived (by a majority) a vote of no-confidence by opposition parties, mainly the Partido Progressista. The impeachment process begun after the no-confidence vote, triggered by a process to activate article 68 of Portugal's constitution - that allows Parliament to impeach the president - on the grounds the President had breached her constitutional duties. cross-party steering committee voted 13 to eight in favor of halting the impeachment call in its tracks, the leader of the Assembly said in a short statement. Few of Palveiro’s allies had expected the process to gain any traction.

Surging in the polls, Eira Vento makes an independent run: Former Foreign Secretary to Pres. Marcelo de Sousa, now challenger Eira Vento has spent most of her time as the Left Coalition presidential hopeful on the rise. Her poll numbers steadily ticked up, as she carved out a spot as a policy-focused candidate whose weekly plan rollouts set much of the broader campaign agenda.

The momentum translated to fundraising. Vento took in more than three times what her campaign raised during the first quarter of campaigning, according to her campaign Monday. The fundraising total is about $1 million more than what Benedicto Sanches MP raised, and about $7 million more than Kemi Taliscas MP' second-quarter total. Emerging as a threat to both Sousa and Taliscas' candidacy, especially seeing as she is essentially tied with Taliscas in an average of the national polls, Vento announced today that she is no longer running a campaign for the Left Coalition's nomination to face off with Sara Palveiro.

Vento announced her own independent run, confident in her surging popularity but some pundits have noted that Vento's independent run might just increase Palveiro's chances at re-election now that it will essentially be a race between Vento and whoever emerges as the Left Coalition's nominee to face off with Palveiro in the first round. Other candidates in the Left Coalition have also condemned Vento's decision, like former President Marcelo de Sousa's campaign, stating 'Left coalition was formed in the first place to create a united front and deny Palveiro a second term by any means necessary. Vento now contradicts that notion.'

Kemi Taliscas refuses to bow out: With Vento out of the picture, Oluwakemi 'Kemi' Taliscas MP and former President Marcelo de Sousa now emerge as the top two candidates, but despite mounting pressure from the establishment for Taliscas to suspend her campaign to make way for Sousa, Taliscas has refused to bow out of the race, hoping to maintain leverage as Sousa clinched the primary votes for the party's nomination. Taliscas told supporters in a rally at a Lisboa College that she would consult party leaders in coming days on how to move forward, but that, "I will be making no decisions tonight."

"A lot of people are asking, 'What does Kemi want?'" Taliscas said. "I want what I have always fought for: I want the millions of people who voted for me to be respected and heard." Taliscas told the crowd she would consult in the coming days with advisers about the fate of her moribund candidacy. But her remarks came hours after she told Parliamentary colleagues she would be open to joining Sousa as his Prime Minister. Many of her top supporters have also spoken openly of Taliscas' potential premiership prospects. She said none of that publicly but vowed the Left Coalition would unite in its effort to defeat the Frente Nacional's Sara Palveiro in the second round.
