Police detain a couple of thieving birds..

Postby Bombadil » Mon Jul 15, 2019 8:18 pm

We all know what it's like, you work an honest day and some bird decides they can mooch off your hard earned fruits of labour, and boy can they have expensive tastes..

“Waddling vagrants” in the form of two little blue penguins have been released by police after they were detained for setting up home under a Wellington sushi outlet.

Their cover was blown after a shop worker heard them making a cooing, humming sound. It is understood that the penguins were hiding near the grills beneath the sushi shop, where it was warm.

Constable John Zhu responded, “after sensing something fishy,” Wellington police confirmed on their Facebook page. The penguins were described as “little and blue”.

It's not enough they can't be bothered to earn their own food but they choose to scoff sushi of all things.

Meanwhile, check out the lengths this foxy chap has to go to in order to keep his belongings from some bird who's entitled belief in their right to essentially steal.. Link

And this famous video of some bird just walking into a shop and stealing what isn't theirs.. Link

Why do so many birds feel entitled to just take from people who actually work to earn a living?

Huh first the Area 51 Thread and now this? Well then looks like funny news stories are starting to come to NSG.

As for my opinion on this matter they're just birds, its not like they have a moral compass like we do at least I think so?

That's just it! They have no moral compass, so they think its okay to steal our hard-earned stuff! I say we teach these little thieves a lesson.
She/Her

People tend to assume that Entrance of the Gladiators by Julius Fučík is what that ever so famous circus clown theme is. And it is. Nobody would ever argue with you on this fact.
However, if you want to be an unlikable, pedantic jerk, the song actually known as "circus music" would be a version composed for American woodwind bands (and later transcribed for fairground organs) titled Thunder and Blazes, published by Louis-Philippe Laurendeau.
Of course, this information is of absolutely no consequence to anyone.

Cute little story. Poor birds were probably scared shitless of all the human activity, though. Hope they're okay now.

I don't catch up on television news that much, the only news I see is either from NSG or NBC Nightly News Articles which I only go on there when I want to know what's going on or to see if there are newsworthy articles to discuss on NSG.

I think editing a poll option doesn't but adding a new option does.. to be frank I wasn't really thinking, just responding to the incessant demands of the NSG community.

On the memorable NSer thread I think Forsher made the point about the growing homogeneity of threads these days, especially with the expanding virus of mega threads -which I believe I was the first to complain about all the way back in 2013, farsighted being that I am.. - anyhoo.. there used to be tons of random threads like these but not so much these days.

Anyhoo.. back to something similar to mega threads, the ever-growing omnipresence of thieving birds in our lives.

If I was to add a serious question it would be that given the expansion of urban areas, how do we deal with animals living in these spaces now.. they're even invading government.. Links

Poor Bombadil, you've raised an expectation that there must always be a Hoff and a "clicking polls" option...

As for the birds...

Serious answer... they were probably scared, and chose somewhere that smelled comfortable.

Less serious answer: they were clearly driven to thievery by an increasingly harsh governmental attitude to spheniscidae. I suggest a comprehensive Penguin Assistance Programme, supplemented by better educational opportunities for young penguins.
