UK Politics Thread X: Boris' Big Bonkers Brexit Bash

Postby Greater vakolicci haven » Fri Jul 12, 2019 9:05 am

Successor state of
this thread
Come one, come all, and welcome to the big Brexit bash!
Refreshments shall include premium British ale and gin, in order to wash down a delightful dish of delicious delecacies, such as (chlorinated) chicken pie, (protein-fed) beef steak, and (mystery) meat curries.

The first poll will concern the most pressing issue of the day, the tory leadership election. Will the peoples prime minister Boris Johnson win out against the managerial, boring Jeremy Hunt? Lets find out as we embark on round 10 of UK politics: what fun will be had?

((going out soon but thought I'd create this. I'll edit in a proper debate question and opinion later, but it's the 10th iteration of the UK politics thread, obviously.))

You need to fix the capitalization in the thread title, and it's helpful to have links to the previous thread iterations in the OP.

The trial of former First Minister Alex Salmond on multiple charges of attempted rape and sexual assault will not begin until late January at the earliest, BBC Scotland has learned.

Mr Salmond was charged with a total of 14 offences on 24 January this year.

They include two charges of attempted rape, nine of sexual assault, two of indecent assault and a breach of the peace.

If republican and loyalist paramilitaries had to go to prison for the shit they did, british soldiers should not be allowed off Scot free. And before anyone brings up the pardons and amnesty at the end of the troubles, at least the paramilitaries served sentences, and there was a semblance of justice for the families of their victims, where there has been none at all for people who lost loved ones in murders committed by the british army and RUC. Also paramilitaries afterwards have still went to prison for their crimes that were previously unknown or lacked evidence to prosecute them for it, or for new crimes they committed. The majority of legacy cases being investigated in NI by the way have been directed at paramilitaries.

The National army of a sovereign state should be held to higher standards than a bunch of terrorists and guerrilla fighters, especially when said army has had a comically small amount of cases made against its members for their crimes in NI. If they are found guilty, british soldiers should go to jail, i dont give a damn if they are old men.

There should be more poll options for the thread, i.e:

"I dont want Johnson or Hunt to win, but i think X will win"
etc

And I think it should all be stopped and those prosecuted since the GFA released. This isn't about protecting British squaddies for me, the GFA should have just scored a line under the whole thing but it didn't and here we are 20 years later still arguing about it.

Some gobshite: "One of the best things I've seen recently is the idea that you don't go to Brussels but you go instead to Dublin, and you literally do a deal with the Irish, whether you bribe them or threaten them, one way or the other, to get them in a position where they're the ones who drop the opposition to the backstop and that enables the Europeans to do so."

I get that, i do. But i still think they should face justice for what they did. The soldiers being investigated for bloody sunday were promised immunity from legal action by the saville inquiry if they told the truth, and this applied to all witnesses that came forward. They didnt.

Anyway i wont go on a rant about this again, you all know my feelings on the matter.

Anyone surprised by this clearly was not paying attention when Pritti Patel brought up the idea of threatening Ireland with food shortages some months back if ireland didnt play ball.

Twat failed to realise ireland is more self sufficient on food than the UK is, also lol at an indian british woman suggesting using famine as a tool to get what you want
