YOUTH FOOTBALL
All-Hinodejin Youth Battle
Article written by Miishima Polytechnical HS students Shigeru Watanabe, Momotaro Ideyaki and Hideyoshi Izakoi

Once again, as the season starts in the Hinodejin Empire, we produced a youth league preview, for those who are fans of the Hinodejin youth system! Check all the hype and excitement!
Image
ALOHA HEIWASHIMA
Honoshima, Heiwashima
Titles:
None
Top Player: Jefferson Sanabria (CM, AUD, 20 y/o)
Names to Watch: Karar-Cralt Ono (ST, QUS, 15 y/o), Choe Il-Seong (OM, HIN, 16 y/o), Hanae Kobayashi (RM, HIN, 18 y/o)
The Empire's most traditional youth football club returned properly to the top tier last season, finishing in the middle of the pack with fewer expectations proving to be less of a burden on the squad. Last season proved to be a triumphant departure for Aloha, the Daineri forward that made the difference for them last season, leaving with a Best Improved award for the top tier. For this season, they're promising a more offensive endeavour as their intake drew up a very good forward out of Qusmo in Karar-Cralt Ono while the rest of the team's offence settles with players that were already in the roster from last season like the Kobayashi sisters (Hanae and Airi), captain Jefferson Sanabria on his swansong and recent recruit Matsui Shirai's agility to hopefully nip the chances in the bud. Defensively, they recruited local Tadanari Shizuki and Morrissey-born Justinian MacLeod to be their defensive duo while Rinus Wever is expected to play his final season as Heiwashima's starter goalie. They're expected to end in the middle of the table again, depending on how well Karar-Cralt Ono performs.

ARCTIC DREAM SHOPPING MALL YFC
Sega, Miyahiyou
Titles:
None
Top Player: Hinata Akibahara (CB, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Wakana Nakajima (CM, HIN, 16 y/o), Sevet-Yivix Faz (LB, HIN, 15 y/o), Saiki Namiya (RB, HIN, 15 y/o)
The Snowflakes came to the top tier once again, finishing last season at a healthy third place on the second tier. Considered a bit of an underdog in their first season on the top tier, this follow-up presents a slightly stronger team although in a league where competition has been increasingly higher. Last season, they netted themselves a midfield maestro in Wakana Nakajima, while also profiting on the Leadership skills of Saburou Fujioka, their newest (and current starting) goalie while the international wing of the team still had Daineri striker Coridai and Audioslavian Stefano Cosenza having a good partnership up front, although things were usually better when Momoko Yamada played over the Daineri. This offseason, the team from the Mall chose to go after defensive pieces to assist Hinata Akibahara, a long-underrated defender, with the mission of keeping the team on the top tier. They did bring two good wingers in Sevet-Yivix Faz to serve as a left-back (the name obviously shows they're from Qusmo) and Saiki Namiya to play as a right back. Jeanne de la Vitamin is a possible replacement for either Akibahara or Chou Nakashima, though her ability on the defensive midfielder position might also be of use.

BERINII STEELWORKS
Berinii, Hiranemu
Titles:
None
Top Player: Ren Fujimoto (OM/ST, HIN, 16 y/o)
Names to Watch: Mari Yamasaki (RM, HIN, 16 y/o), Suzu Kato (LM, HIN, 16 y/o), Philipp Lüchinger (CF, HIN, 15 y/o)
From the former Sacro-Echlusiastic Empire, a collection of ministates and Free Cities, the Steelworks team from Berinii has often been noted as a sight to behold, especially when they overperformed at the second tier and got their promotion. Reportedly, the team's greatest strength is a lack of selfishness, resulting in a team that chooses to achieve their goals as a team first and as players later. The team used to feed on the talent that came from the families of ambassadors and noblemen that moved from the main island, refined under the values that the Sacred used to respect. Of note, they had last season's Bronze Boot Ren Fujimoto, who was actually born in Berinii to mainland parents, a player with a lot of dribbling but known to be very laborious as well, which you can see from her goal tally last season. Other worthy of note are Mari Yamasaki, a right midfielder that impressed some with her omnipresence and her partner in crime, Suzu Kato, who rules the left side on the midsection. They also fielded their first actual home-talent in Philipp Lüchinger, although his talent is questionable. Kouki Fukui presents the experience, which the team actually lacks in the long run, as only this young man has aged past majority in Hinodejin rules (18 years old). It remains to be seen if the team will match up to the competition in the top tier, but their kind of football should give them at least a hand.

BOLT TRAVELLING
Po, Burakuriri
Titles:
None
Top Player: Patrik Štefan (OM, HIN, 16 y/o)
Names to Watch: Sonsaku Yamada (CM, HIN, 16 y/o), Hana van de Furoku (CB, HIN, 15 y/o), Yuka Uxon (CB, HIN, 15 y/o)
Last season's surprise team Bolt Travelling unveiled one of the newest top prospects of the Empire in Patrik Štefan, a key example of how a single player can improve an entire team just by being recruited as the middling team found itself in fourth place. With Štefan as the team's leader and captain, the Travellers found themselves another batch of promising players. Defensively, they have another pair of Western Hinodejin in Yuka Uxon and Hana van de Furoku, tall defenders ready to protect Arata Yamaguchi at the net, while Minami Arayama joins at the left back slot, hoping to be a good partner for Audioslavian Matteo Capraro at the right back who's on his way out once this season is over. Up front, Patrik Štefan has the aid of Sonsaku Yamada at the center mid, Jubei Nomatsu at the right mid while newcomer Yoko Yokomichi steps into the left mid slot. The team's other Audioslavian Hakim Nawaz remains from last season and should be the team's main center forward for one final season. This team has a fair goal, keeping their talents away from the University level, propping up a really good team that should do some damage at the youth level.
Image
CHAOLAN ZAIBATSU
Hiun, Kameria
Titles:
2139 Youth Cup
Top Player: Kamala Khan (CM/OM/SS, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Tu Kun Huang (CM, HIN, 18 y/o), Chinatsu Kurosawa (CB, HIN, 16 y/o), Lala Safari (OM, HIN, 19 y/o)
Last season was the last hurrah for some of the backbones of the Unicorns, although it was really María Reyes' single season for the team that stole the show, despite the midtable finish for the side from Hiun. Now leading the team is Kamala Khan, owner of versatility in the offensive size that is hard to not take under account, she was a bit player last season despite having the recognition of a player that should change the game for the Unicorns. This time, she's trusted the opportunity to lead the team. Up front as well, we have Ortzi Ariztegi, another Audioslavian on his way out, playing as center-forward, while promising talent Tu Kun Huang is usually at the center mid position, one part of a duet with either Keita Kuremaru or Khan herself. Lala Safari, another notable prospect for the future that has been mostly solidifying herself as a sympathetic but not fantastic player remains in the offensive midfield position. Another Audioslavian in Kian Burnett sometimes plays as a right midfielder and the recruiting class brought two acceptable names in Teijo Nurminnen (defensive midfielder) and Hinata Niemi-Kurosawa (center-forward that will probably take over for Ariztegi next year). In the back, from the right to the left, recruit Kiki Matsuda-Krempel, Chinatsu Kurosawa, Phirun Chey and Dana Alinejad form the back four with Flora Malloth as a reserve for the center backs. Jarkko Tamminen, another recruit, is expected to play goalie for the team in pink, black and yellow. The Unicorns remain a team that is hard to predict, although it's expected that they'll find themselves in the shuffle, but not in the running for a title.

GERUDO TRADING COMPANY FC
Mui, Tentai
Titles:
None
Top Player: Narus Aldebaaran (ST, HIN, 18 y/o)
Names to Watch: Tugone Kanii (CM, HIN, 18 y/o), Areke Shinra (GK, HIN, 18 y/o), Asouge Gobugo (DM, HIN, 16 y/o)
Getruco, one of the regulars at the top tier of Hinodejin youth football, saw minimal departures after the tenth place finish last season, although moods were surprisingly high after the Cup final where Hanada City HS, who took them out earlier, lifted the title. Aruyu Furishi's departure left a gap in the middle of the field, a place that sees Tugone Kanii taking over although most fans believe she'll be sharing the role with Tobua Komeru and Goosume Fegike, respective right and left midfielders as well as center midfielders at their spare time. The offensive midfield role that Aruyu Furishi sometimes took over lands on the lap of Mookeosi Kanii. Asouge Gobugo's solid participations as a defensive midfielder meant she remains at the line-up for this season, while the team is mostly stacked up on the striker role: Narus Aldebaaran is a certainty, but Daineris Zakuty and Jiskastnya will be doing rotation among each other and newbie Noagesa Rooboona. Defensively, this is the second season where the Uraetusouri twins Tesoalu and Aegoomi play wing backs while Murana Raerom gets help from the other major recruit of this season, Relar Meifanuru. Areke Shinra is still the team's main goalkeeper. Getruco remains a team that could be a challenger on the season, but they're expected to end up in the shuffle like everyone else.
Image
GRAND ROYAL HS
Kanshiro, Nishikoku
Titles:
None
Top Player: Amporn Wattana (ST, HIN, 16 y/o)
Names to Watch: Prant-Jerat Mal (CM, QUS, 15 y/o), Kyoko Hakkarainen (OM, HIN, 15 y/o), Katherine Underwood (CB/DM, DAI/HIN, 15 y/o)
The Grand Royal High School is said to be the finest high school in academical matters of the Empire, with students all over the Hinodejin land sending applications to join them every year. Such an emphasis towards academic acumen meant that actual football talent was in the losing side of the coin. It wasn't a surprise when the team went down the second season, although it was a bit impressive that they were able to hold up until the final matchday to go down. After that, the school became a Division 1 outfit, but their luck turned around last season when a crop of promising talent joined, edging out the opposition to bring them to the top tier again. The team's captain has to be Amporn Wattana, a great striker from the Indies, he turned out amazing performances for the school while juggling his academical career as well. He had the help of Yamato Itou and Kamon Metharon at the wing back slots, but still, the promotion was mostly on him. The new crop of players that are to join them feature Qusmo-born Prant-Jerat Mal at the center mid slot, Kyoko Hakkarainen as an offensive midfielder and Katherine Underwood, the daughter of a Sunrisian MMA champion, playing as a defender. Among the newly promoted teams, Grand Royal HS has the hardest path to overcome, will the academical wonders be good in the sport as well or will they disappear like their last time around?
Image
HANADA CITY HS
Hanada, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
2140 The Hinodejin Youth Cup
Top Player: Nina Nishigawa (ST/OM, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Antonio Vergara (FW, OSR, 17 y/o), Mariko Saito (CM, HIN, 16 y/o), Marie Kelly Hawk (RB/RM, DAI/HIN, 15 y/o)
Last season was the crowning of Hanada City HS's new age, their victory at the Hinodejin Youth Cup final meant the first piece of silverware ever to be won by the school. The title also saw the departure of Garnett Makanza, now a university level player, leaving them one fantastic player short. That's not to say they didn't keep their best player, Nina Nishigawa is still a player for Hanada, although this is really her final season for the school as she's expected to report for University football next season. The girl wasn't as consistent last season, struggling a bit on the league but really making up for it at the Cup. This season, the forward duo that features her will have another Osarian in Antonio Vergara, another future departing player. The midfield sees new recruit and second generation Sunrisian Rena Sioux play in the offensive midfielder role, while the wings are occupied by Shin'ichi Saito on the right and new recruit Ayano Matsumoto on the left. Finally, the role of center midfielder is taken by Mariko Saito, another notable player from last season. The back retains South Toronto-born goalkeeper Timaeus, while the back-line has one of the finest prospects of this season in another second generation player, Daineri-born Hinodejin Marie Kelly Hawk at the right-back role. Izumi Tachibana, Shirou Matsushita and newbie Aalto Koskela are expected to take turns as the main center-backs of the team while another newbie in Susume Maki serves as the left-back. The final new recruit, Lassie Yuna Villadsen is expected to be the bench replacement for Timaeus. Hanada has potential, what with one of the league's best players in Nina Nishigawa being now complemented by Marie Kelly Hawk. They should be in the middle of the pack.
Image
KAZAMA ALL-SCHOOLS FC
Kazama, Himawari
Titles:
2136 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League
Top Player: Jun Kazama (DM/CM/OM, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Yoshirou Nakamura (RM/OM, HIN, 17 y/o), Gamera Uzumaki (RM/LM/OM/CM/ST, HIN, 15 y/o), Tatsuo Terashima (RB/CB/LB/DM/CM, HIN, 15 y/o)
Kazama's season was puzzling at best when a team of notable prospects in a football-crazed province found itself out of the top ten. This season marks the departure of Rina Itou, who never really amounted to what people expected from her as well. In the off-season, the team recruited four players with massive versatility, which means that the team has gained pieces that can fit pretty much everywhere if used right. Case in point, their striker is Sakurako Fujioka (who can also play as a CM and an OM), while Jun Kazama (who can also play as a DM and a CM) fills in the offensive midfielder role. The Right Midfielder role sees another veteran in Yoshirou Nakamura (also OM) while Gamera Uzumaki, a recruit of this season, plays at the left midfielder position (despite being able to play everywhere between midfielder and striker). The center midfielder role fell on the lap of Tatsuo Terashima. At the defensive midfielder role, is Mina Strossen-Inajima, another recruit. Back-line wise, they have Takashi Matsuoka, Katsuo Ueda, Aki Shimizu and Ken'ichi Nakajima. The Greens should do well this season, assuming that their recruits can turn out the performances Momoko Ichibonji could.
Image
KOSHU DRAGON GUARD HS
Koshu, Nishikoku
Titles:
None
Top Player: Juri Mi-Na (CM/OM/RM/LM/DM, HIN, 15 y/o)
Names to Watch: Jiang Mei (OM, HIN, 17 y/o), Kim Seung-Yong (CB/DM/RB, HIN, 15 y/o), Kim Seo-Myung (CB/DM/LB, HIN, 15 y/o)
Gum Nam-Gong's last season as a member of the Koshu Dragon Guard HS saw them edge out relegation. His departure meant a group of Hooligans went away with him. The answer to this was to repeat the Hooligan Correctional Project, bringing in another former thug in Juri Mi-Na, a Tae Kwon Do fighter that was known for creating a lot of trouble at nearby towns. She's expected to play Defensive Midfielder, behind Han Si-Woo (right midfielder), Gang Min-Ji (center midfielder), Kang Eun-Jeong (left midfielder), Jiang Mei (offensive midfielder) and Chung Kyung-Se (second striker); all of whom are better examples of lawful students. The back sees a line of three, featuring Chung Byung-Ho as the center-back while two recruits in Kim Seung-Yong and Kim Seo-Myung play side backs. Chung Young-Soo, the final recruit of the season, is the team's new keeper. An interesting season that sadly will probably end in relegation, unless Juri Mi-Na hits the ground running.
Image
LUNA WANDERERS FC
Shintomara, Luna-Saria
Titles:
None
Top Player: Jamie "The Saint" Lynch (CB/DM, HIN, 16 y/o)
Names to Watch: Sophie Meyrink (ST/SS, HIN, 16 y/o), Bopha Keo (ST, HIN, 16 y/o), Xalan-Xilit Ono (CB, QUS, 15 y/o)
The Wanderers came as a surprise side after plying their trade on the lower leagues for a while, carried away by Jamie "The Saint" Lynch's loudmouth persona, but more specifically Lynch's actual effectiveness as a footballer. Defensively, the team from Shintomara might have actually gathered a perfect union in the back as Lynch gets to work with Qusmi center back Xalan-Xilit Ono in what has been dubbed the "Shintomara Stretching Crew", supported on the wings by a duo of players that were born nearby: Stephanie Andristessen (from the former Kingdom of Scanigo) and Teijo Raikkonen (from the former Dependency of Scanigo, Scaeneland). Scilla Adamo remains as the team's goalkeeper while Mikelo Vilĉjo starts out benched in favour of the Qusmi. Additional recruit Fabio Schönbächler (from the former Mittdeltenland) is a second option for the goalie slot, although far less consistent and much more showboating than the often conservative Adamo. The offence doesn't consist of slouches either: the good duo of Bopha Keo and Sophie Meyrink return to the shed while a midfield that was reinvigorated during the offseason shows signs of strength. While Krisster Christoffer keeps his role as a right midfielder under a bit of criticism, Dubhghall Donaghue settles up on the left midfield with ease. The team is expected to field offensive midfielder Arnolds Ozols at times, but they might go to matches with two center midfielders, having foreigner Wacław Sokal, recruits Thanos Kaklamanakis and Ahti Siltala as options. Finally, Bustip Newman remains as a tactical option, in case the team needs a center forward, although he might also see playing time as another option for center midfielder. Clearly, the Wanderers' defensive side looks like a million bucks, featuring one of the finest defensive prospects of the Empire at the moment and a really good foreigner as well. They'll probably be in the middle of the pack, but they might go higher if their offence pulls stuff out of their hat.

MASHU ELITE HS
Mashu, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
2138 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League
Top Player: Luther Fox (MF, OSR, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Nifea Sitrembel (GK, HIN, 17 y/o), Shichirou Koizumi (CB/DM, HIN, 17 y/o), Davide Trevelyan (RB/LB, HIN, 15 y/o)
The Elite is one of the Empire's top dogs when it comes to youth football. Once upon a time, they were actually playing with a handicap and yet managed to be one of the notable sides of the top tier's first official season. Last season might have not seen them win silverware but they didn't need it as the team from Mashu was able to find themselves at the semis of the Hinodejin Youth Cup and also netted a third-place finish. Mashu had to deal with the departure of Imui Akimenagi, among other players, that reached the proper age to play university football, replacing them with a recruiting class that wasn't bad by any chance but clearly displays a more vulnerable Mashu Elite. These recruits include Yuina Maeda and Natsuki Nishimura, who join to offer options up front since the team only really kept Moe Yamashita, who joined them last season. The midfield also sees some interesting players joining, although they're apparently not as good as what the team had in the past. Sayaka Yamaguchi is a center mid/offensive mid player, Haruka Mori plays left midfielder and technically Natsuki Nishimura can also cover the offensive midfielder position. The team does still keep Kazuki Koizumi and Luther Fox, however. Finally, the defensive midfield role still sees Shichirou Koizumi around for it but they also get Shinobu Honda, a similar player. The backline will consist of the real eye-catching prospect of the season for Mashu in Davide Trevelyan doing double duty on the back wings while Michi Hisakawa and Taichi Kobayashi serve as the solid center backs. Nifea Sitrembel will serve as the main goalie for her last season while Yuri Sato waits on the sidelines. This is probably another deadly team by the traditional football school, but they probably won't challenge for the title this season. Can't be certain about it since this is Mashu Elite, but they do look more vulnerable this season.

MIISHIMA POLYTECHNICAL HS
Miishima, Himawari
Titles:
2140 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League, 2138 All-Hinodejin Youth Football Division 1
Top Player: Élodie Proux (CF, THU, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Athena Asamiya (OM/CM, HIN, 15 y/o), Sakura Kasugano (CM, HIN, 17 y/o), Hwang Seong-Gyeong (DM/CB, HIN, 16 y/o)
Take this in: the Gears are the official trophy holders of the All-Hinodejin Youth Football League. With players like Emeka Okore, Élodie Proux and Hyo Imawano, they found themselves in the top of the table at the end of the season, netting their second piece of silverware, not only under their current leadership but also as a whole. Departures might have followed their success last season, but the team's recruit class turned out to be pretty good. Athena Asamiya arrives to serve as the team's newest offensive midfielder in a section of the field that already has Heichiro Mitsurugi, Yuri Sakazaki and Sakura Kasugano; while Shin Kamiya is expected to serve as an assistant for either Élodie Proux or Kazuya Mishima up front. Sie Kensou joins as the second option on the net behind soon-to-graduate Hyo Imawano, while the nimble and fast Ling Xiaoyu joins to do the same for right-back/right midfielder Yuri Sakazaki. Jin Kazama, the last recruit to talk about joins to serve as the center-back partner for Hwang Seong-Gyeong. Things promise to be business as usual in the Gears, they certainly have the team to go for a repeat.

PROJECT OLIMPO JUTSII
Athena, Jutsii
Titles:
2137 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League, 2138 Hinodejin Youth Cup
Top Player: Jimmy McCarthy (ST, NWK, 20 y/o)
Names to Watch: Tressa Crawford (GK, BSE, 19 y/o), Slim Kennedy (CB, BSE, 19 y/o), Fifty Calloose (LM, BSE, 20 y/o)
Project Olimpo's debut in international football came with a lot of promise, a club designed specifically to reach the same level of importance that Project +90 had during the Sunrisian days. Except for the league as a whole chose to open up for foreign players, thus killing off what Project +90 offered best: the singular opportunity for foreigners to play at a competitive youth league. Needless to say, people were very much shocked when word came out that Project Olimpo Jutsii would be downsizing their efforts regarding their core activities, the youth football team. Waves came almost instantly as Yesopalithans Vyata Nitini and Naia Anhili chose to depart the team to play for the Hylia University team back at the University level. Soon enough, they would be joined by pretty much every single player that was at the age of eighteen, moving to the University cycle. The skeleton crew that was left in Jutsii is hardly bad, however. This team still has the pleasure of fielding names such as Tressa Crawford, Slim Kennedy, Bitto Kazuki, Fifty Calloose, Athena Inagusame and, above all else, Jimmy McCarthy. This season should be one where a team of nineteen and twenty-year-olds keep the illustrious team on the top tier while they look towards recruiting the best youth players they can find. Olimpo shouldn't be taken lightly, but it's clear that they're a bit shaken by the news. Alas, this is just the birth of a new Olimpo, one that could promise to make a lot of waves in Hinodejin football. Just like the old one supposedly did.

SARIA GREENS FC
Saria, Luna-Saria
Titles:
2139 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League Division 1
Top Player: Kako Langull (CM, HIN, 16 y/o)
Names to Watch: Ro Kumezos (RB, HIN, 16 y/o), Dussuk Kasekill (SS, HIN, 15 y/o), Mevol Thepeitei (OM, HIN, 15 y/o)
The go-to team in the league for Hylians, the Saria Greens saw one of their best seasons ever, finishing in a healthy fifth place, coupled with the runners-up performance at the Hinodejin Youth Cup. Their presence has already planted some seeds for the future of Hylian football, however, as players such as Roshi Covaena, Iroha Irei and Tambaru Matsuda moved up to join the Hylia University. The main problem for the Greens is the lack of a new Matsuda as the new recruit class is promising but they lack versatility. Of note, they brought in Dussuk Kasekill, a second striker with some key talent regarding passes, Mevol Thepeitei, a player with a lot of flair in the offensive midfield role that was left empty with Matsuda's departure, Rameal Ofoshothiem and Thaleam Anothitei, respectively left-back and striker, owners of some really fast football. Considering they still have Kako Langull and a very underappreciated Ro Kumezos, this team should be in the upper half of the table.

SENSO-SHUKUJO LADIES HS
Senso-Shukujo, Tsutsuji
Titles:
None
Top Player: Anhalla Valia wa Malla (OM/ST, HIN, 16 y/o)
Names to Watch: Chikako Mori (CM, HIN, 17 y/o), Tomiko Mori (ST, HIN, 17 y/o), Kohina Ichimatsu (RB/CB, HIN, 16 y/o)
Senso-Shukujo Ladies HS is a team of a lot of fame in many sports. Alas, football still eludes this traditional sports powerhouse.
Things once again do not look great for the Ladies of War, however, as their youth intake didn't bring anything special, besides players with a lot of heart that still are a good distance away from being good. This is the final season for the Mori twins, Chikako and Tomiko, who are clearly worried about their future university careers, although considering that their teammate from last season, Kang Min-Seo, was able to find her way towards Williams, that shouldn't mean doom to this duo of stars. Senso-Shukujo remains an oddity at the league, a team that is clearly decent, but decent doesn't cut it at the top tier, from a school that is legendary towards their approach to sports. To think that this team has an actual Princess from a far-away planet and yet they can't do anything with that is amazing.
Image
SOUTHERN IRONWORKS GIRLS
Tamani, Turanitai
Titles:
2140 All-Hinodejin Youth Football Division 1
Top Player: Catarina Soler (ST, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Sadako Takeshita (OM, HIN, 18 y/o), Gila Chen (CB, HIN, 17 y/o), Shinxia Kurikage (CF/ST, HIN, 15 y/o)
The Girls from the South were a top tier side for a good while but found themselves going down once the team decided to, in a puzzling manner, get rid of their Cantera system, introducing foreigners and humans to an originally all-Goblin side. Ever since, the club, sponsored by the respectable Southern Ironworks Company, moved towards reviving their restrictions by fielding a team consisting of female goblins and some humans that have started their career with the team some seasons ago. The result was deemed a success and the Girls from the South now field a really good football team, who features a line-up of key talent and some solid backbone, even going so far as the bench. On the human side of things, Mikazuki Sawano is a competent goalie, Sadako Takeshita is a fast offensive midfielder and Catarina Soler was the captain last season for the club, while the Goblins include Iyu Knarusha and her amazing bicycle kicks that more often than not miss the mark, Gila Chen and her bare-knuckle defence that has stopped many an attack last season at the second tier and the newbie Shinxia Kurikage, who expects to be good competition for Soler on the offence.
A very promising team, to put it bluntly.

TOADSTOOL ENTERPRISES
Kinokomura, Kameria
Titles:
None
Top Player: Kimi Ishtari (OM, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Michi Ikeda (CB, HIN, 16 y/o), Cralt-Savar Gla (RB, QUS, 15 y/o), Peter Levi (CM, HIN, 15 y/o)
The Mercenaries had a great run last season, considering their expectations, finishing at 9th. They had their man in Glauco Vega, but the Starblaydi was soon decked in Interdimensional Misei colours and far away from Kinokomura. Toadstool Enterprises' efforts towards becoming a respectable team in the top tier might have been stunted, however, as they didn't find many players willing to join the Kinokomura side, although two of their recruits really show a lot of promise. Cralt-Savar Gla is another promising player out of Qusmo that chose to join the Hinodejin league out of curiosity and desire to improve, while Peter Levi is actually one of a family of twenty that tend to spring up at the youth level, in a quest for family dominance. The team still has the fantastic Kimi Ishtari up front and Michi Ikeda did show a lot of skill last season as a defender. More of the same is what the head honchos at Toadstool Enterprises want and, considering the additions of Gla and Levi, they might get that.

ZEPPELIN FOUNDATION
Daiyawayasu, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
2139 All-Hinodejin Youth Football League
Top Player: Harper Casey (MID, KOR, 19 y/o)
Names to Watch: Yoruyoru (GK, DAI, 19 y/o), Makoto Mizoguchi (CB/DM, HIN, 17 y/o), Lenpi-Helek Tez (RM, QUS, 15 y/o)
The Zeppelin Foundation made their presence felt in 2139 with their All-Hinodejin Youth Football League, but their level of football remained strong as they finished the season in second place. The Foundation, however, saw three of their players join their University side, which meant the departure of Alice Tsukagami, Bakuryu Nobutatsu and Dawn Shiranui; all of those being major departures in the grand scheme of things. The Foundation's biggest coup was to keep Ko-oren-born talent Harper Casey, who is now set to be their captain and team foundation. He's not the only foreigner to stick with the team as Yoruyoru returns for another season between the bars, while they get another foreigner in recruit Lenpi-Helek Tez, a piece for the right midfielder role that had been usually filled up by Casey himself. The midfield also sees the introduction of Väinö Koivula, a very promising talent that can cover up the left side of the field but with a bit of emphasis towards the left midfielder role, while Neku Viktorov-Shiatsu presents himself as a bench option for pretty much everyone in the middle portion of the pitch. They still keep Ryu Yeong-Mi as an OM while the DM role is probably landing with Mjolnir Kallström. Their defensive sector remains strong, Makoto Mizoguchi leading it with newbie Maria Pokorny helping him out, while the right-back role sees a battle between sophomore Yoko Fujioka and rookie Teemu Virtanen. While not as strong as they were last season, they should still be title contenders, if their cards are played right.

ZORA YOUTH
Kamitenabaru, Burakuriri
Titles:
None
Top Player: Peta Kivipepi (OM, HIN, 17 y/o)
Names to Watch: Mephuru Oteturu (GK, HIN, 16 y/o), Miko Okernirar (DM, HIN, 16 y/o), Rene Alelutun (CB, HIN, 16 y/o)
The Zora Kingdom return after a rather diminishing season that saw them finish at the fifteenth position of the top tier, possibly one of their worse finishes so far. A melancholic departure for one of the best Zora players of the Empire as Aruyi Fanoluma left the team, joining Zora University for next season. To replace him, and also to see if they can catch lightning on a bottle, they invested heavily in the off-season, recruiting three very promising talents. Offensive midfielder Ephuruh Etehuven comes to serve as the future replacement for Peta Kivipepi, who's on his way to leave after this season, Pala Herokite comes in to substitute Lemeta Oloneloto, who's expected to be used as a bench player for her final year for Zora Youth and finally, Okas Eroshero comes to fill in the left-back role over Oras Ojenoki. As far as established talent goes, they still have the aforementioned Peta Kivpepi, goalie Mephuru Oteturu, defensive midfielder Miko Okernirar, center midfielder Lamo Haveroto and center back Rene Alelutun. On the other hand, Atin Vilizajis isn't expected to be a proper replacement for Aruyi Fanoluma as the team's sole striker. Zora Youth remains a favourite for the title, although it's hard to be certain if they'll finally go over the opposition.

UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL
Book of Athena 3: The Cyber Revolution
Article written by Royal Academy Junior Aiko Sakuraba and Sophomore sisters Chikako and Hanako Ueno

Another season of University football starts in the Empire as the best institutions of the Empire (as far as football goes) gather around to play for the honor of being the new owner of the Book of Athena, the ultimate prize of intercollegiate football of the Hinodejin Empire.

BASQUE UNIVERSITY
Basuku-Hitoshi, Nashihana
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Luiza Beata Sasaki (GK, HIN, 20 y/o)
RB - #02 - Eider Ishikawa (RB, HIN, 19 y/o)
CB - #03 - Andoni Suzuki (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #04 - Letze Gorralateyan (CB, STO/HIN, 19 y/o)
LB - #05 - Udane Akiba (LB, HIN, 19 y/o)
RM - #06 - Eneko Tachibana (RM/CM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CM - #07 - Farooq Nawfal (DM/CM/LM, AUD, 19 y/o)
LM - #08 - Ander Tachibana (LM/CM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER / CAPTAIN
OM - #10 - Juan Gauxo Soriano (CM/OM/RM/LM, HIN, 19 y/o) BEST PLAYER
CF - #09 - Serge Tempest (CF, AUD, 19 y/o)
SS - #11 - Mika Toyotomi-Bariain (CF/SS, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING

Another season of Vilfredo Corsi as the manager of the Basque University sees the Bulls prepare for another season of Hinodejin top football with stress at a record high for the Audioslavian manager. Not like he's at fault, to be honest, the Basques are one of the most limited teams of the pyramid by default, Corsi does his best with what he has and things aren't always that easy to do: let's face it, Juan Gauxo Soriano is a fantastic player but a headache maker at almost all the time. And that was after Ander Tachibana straightened him out with a pep talk. Additionally, the University didn't find many good upcoming Basque born players, Mika Toyotomi-Bariain is the best player of their recruiting class but she's not as good as who other universities brought up. Another rough season is to be expected, sadly.

HIMAWARI UNIVERSITY
Kazama, Himawari
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Ken Wakamaruichi (GK, HIN, 20 y/o) CAPTAIN
RB - #02 - Kasumi Hayabasu (RM/RB/RW/ST, HIN, 18 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CB - #03 - Natsushiko Saito (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
LB - #04 - Katsuo Matsushita (CB/RB/LB, HIN, 19 y/o)
DM - #05 - Sayu Ooyama (DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
RM - #06 - Ino Minaduki (ST/CM/OM/RM/LM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
CM - #07 - Rei Fujiwara (CM/DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #08 - Ayane Hayabusa (LM/LB/LW/CF, HIN, 18 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
OM - #09 - Hiroshi Nishimoto (OM/CF, HIN, 20 y/o)
CF - #10 - Tomohiro Suzuki (CF/OM, HIN, 18 y/o)
ST - #11 - Momoko Ichibonji (ST, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER

Himawari's talents for being the birthplace of fantastic players saw some curious players join the team via recruiting: Makoto Honda joins from the prestigious Mashu Elite HS down at Somei-Yoshino with her decision to join the University being based after her family living at Wuyon, Ino Minaduki chose to reject her blood ties to the institution with her family name and joined Himawari, the Hayabusa twins joined as sleeper hits from the lower levels of high school football and even less popular names such as Tomohiro Suzuki and Koji Nishimoto could be major deal breakers at some games. This is also Momoko Ichibonji's final season at the university level, preparing herself to be the star she was at the Kazama All-Schools' side. A dangerous team again, after last season's tenth place finish is a welcome sight.

HYLIA UNIVERSITY
Ikidomari, Kameria
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Iroha Irei (GK, HIN, 18 y/o)
RB - #02 - Phambea Namura (RB, HIN, 18 y/o)
CB - #03 - Dungan Dozabotanon (SW/CB, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
LB - #04 - Vyata Nitini (LB, YSP, 19 y/o)
DM - #05 - Miramu Noronku (CB/DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
RM - #06 - Naia Anhili (RM, YSP, 19 y/o)
CM - #07 - Sephi Nell Kirishima (OM/CM/CF, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #08 - Etea Ohishitas (RM/LM/OM, HIN, 19 y/o)
OM - #10 - Teku Santen (CM/OM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
ST - #09 - Tanui Itsubaku (ST, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN
SS - #11 - Phishis Thipishatia (SS, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER

It's a really weird year when you can say that the Archers have enough notable names that we won't have to write anyone as a walk-in. After a couple of years of weathering the storm, Hylia University might have their player for the next three seasons as, unsurprisingly, Teku Santen joins from the Mashu Elite HS team. Saria Greens' status as a feeder for the University also works as they netted Iroha Irei and Phambea Namura for their starting line-up while they also managed to bring both Vyata Nitini and Naia Anhili from a rebuilding Project Olimpo Jutsii as full-time players instead of students while still practicing at the Olimpo roster. On those that are on their way to leave, they do have an actual national team player in Tanui Itsubaku, who just scored a hat trick at the Di Bradini Cup after a pretty bad debut game. Hylia will be in the middle of the table but it's an improvement.

IMPERIAL FORCES ACADEMY
Seidoshi, Uchina
Titles:
2139 Book of Athena
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Myozan Namezono (GK, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
RB - #02 - Charlize Willemsen (DM/RB/RM, HIN, 18 y/o)
CB - #03 - Gintoki Sakata (CB/CM/OM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CB - #04 - Park Jong-Suk (CB, HIN, 18 y/o)
LB - #05 - Seira Muchiko (LM/LB/CB/CM, HIN, 20 y/o)
DM - #06 - Tenmu Tsu'umutapoa (CB/DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
RM - #07 - Shihona Tada (RM/CM, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #08 - Kikumi Kondou (LM/SS, HIN, 20 y/o)
OM - #10 - Kotaro Katsura (CM/OM/ST, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN
CF - #09 - Saori Takahata (OM/CF/SS/ST, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
ST - #11 - Naranbaatarjiin Aztai (ST, HIN, 19 y/o)

Last season, Myozan Namezono received calls of "treason" for a small comment that the Academy was focused on developing sergeants, not footballers, after their academical workload increased in droves to which, unsurprisingly for someone who played for Mashu Elite during their "full calendar" seasons, he was still able to perform reasonably well. This season, their workload has been decreased somewhat and the former manager was replaced by a captain who has a thing for physical play, shown in the recruiting of Park Jong-Suk. Make no mistake, this team is full of twenty-year-olds and will probably depend on their swan song if they have any hope of winning the Book of Athena again, but if there's a team that could do it, it's this team.

KAMERIA UNIVERSITY
Koa, Kameria
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Rina Lazareva (GK, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN
RB - #02 - Choji Nagatomo (CB/DM/SW/RB, HIN, 18 y/o)
CB - #05 - Takehiko Ueda (CB, HIN, 18 y/o)
CB - #03 - Ryuta Tsuboi (CB, HIN, 18 y/o)
LB - #04 - Cristina Konovalova (LB/CB/RB, HIN, 20 y/o)
DM - #06 - Chung Ho (DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
CM - #08 - Namine Kirishima (DM/CM/RM/LM, HIN, 18 y/o)
OM - #10 - Tai Mizuno (CM/OM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
RW - #09 - Karim van de Kerkhof (LW/RW/OM/CF, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
ST - #10 - Mytti Numenen (ST, HIN, 19 y/o)
LW - #11 - Mänuchiro Bikato (LW/RW/OM/CF, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER

Their first ride at the top tier saw Kameria struggle as they relied heavily in their two best players (Tai Mizuno and Mänuchiro Bikato) with both simply not being able to keep the team on the top tier. In the end, they bowed out on the Selective Tournament via losing to the Royal Academy at the Second Round Proper. Their measures to help them out at the top tier after they failed to impress at the second tier despite getting themselves promoted back to the top tier was to literally bring a player equal in almost everything but birthplace to Bikato in Karim van de Kerkhof. There's some pedigree in the team as well with Choji Nagatomo joining the team while notables Rina Itou and Takehiko Ueda joined from the high school level. This team also features Negus Barn, which means he'll probably be the replacement for Rina Lazareva at the net. Not too much to say, they have potential but nobody knows if they'll explode in the top tier or go down in flames again.

KANSHIRO UNIVERSITY
Kanshiro, Nishikoku
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Hwa Hye-Gyo (GK, HIN, 19 y/o)
RB - #02 - Kim Dong-Hwan (RB/CB/RM, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CB - #03 - Gim Jeong-Hun (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #04 - Baek Doo-San (CB/DM, HIN, 20 y/o) CAPTAIN
LB - #05 - Kim Jae-Hoon (LB/CB/LM, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
DM - #06 - Lee Duk-Woo (CB/DM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
RM - #07 - Diệp Ngô (RM, HIN, 20 y/o)
CM - #08 - Choe Ji-Sang (DM/CM, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #09 - Linh Ngô (LM, HIN, 20 y/o)
OM - #10 - Seong Mi-Na (OM, HIN, 19 y/o) BEST PLAYER
ST - #11 - Gang Ji-Hoon (ST, HIN, 20 y/o)

Kanshiro made a lot of noise last season when they brought in Seong Mi-Na, the nation's top prospect but in the end, they had to accept a safe but not stellar seventh place. Funnily enough, Hwa Hye-Gyo turned out to be the best player of the team last season, but make no mistake: the Kim twins and Seong Mi-Na are a winning combo. Lee Duk-Woo is the only real notable change in Kanshiro, having joined during this recruiting class as a commoner. Expect them to repeat their results from last season.

KOS-MOS TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE
Kokunoba, Kameria
Titles:
2140 Hinodejin Intercollegiate Challenge League
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Platinum Yamazaki (GK, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
RB - #02 - Uranus Miyamoto (RB, HIN, 19 y/o)
CB - #03 - Oceanus Kobayashi (CB, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER / CAPTAIN
LB - #04 - Tanzania Urameshi-Jones (LB, HIN/USI, 18 y/o)
DM - #05 - Kore Ikeda (DM, HIN, 19 y/o)
RM - #06 - Brigid Yamamoto (RM, HIN, 19 y/o)
CM - #07 - Cébhfionn Kojima (CM, HIN, 19 y/o)
LM - #08 - Éibhear Itou (LM, HIN, 19 y/o)
OM - #09 - Pluto Akiyama (OM/ST, HIN, 19 y/o) BEST PLAYER
SS - #10 - Aphrodite Tamashiro (SS, HIN, 18 y/o)
CF - #11 - Polyhymnia Maki (CF, HIN, 19 y/o) BEST PLAYER

It's seven shades of amazing that the KOS-MOS Technological Institute's football team has already found itself at the top tier despite its' mere two years of existence. Of course, the team itself is rather controversial: they're not students of the Institute, but rather the test subjects they have conducted work on. Usually, those are destitute, orphans of war or just poor children in general that were plucked from their homes in those lands in disarray to be taken care of by Hinodejin scientists or scientists-in-the-making, as is the case with the institute. Sole exception here is Tanzania Urameshi-Jones, a former cancer victim that made at least 60% of her body become literally cybernetic. With the fact that this entire team is cybernetically enhanced, there's a good chance they'll win the title.

MIDO-HINODE UNIVERSITY
Harumi, Mido-Hinode
Titles:
2140 Book of Athena
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Frederik Hiraguma (GK, HIN, 20 y/o)
RB - #02 - Zilot-Trenj Miz (DEF, QUS, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CB - #03 - Matthias Jönsson (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #04 - Ivica Skok (CB, MYT, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
LB - #05 - Nadin Blondeau (LB, CMT, 19 y/o)
DM - #06 - Anders-Fuuya Kurota (DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
RM - #07 - Thierry Cailleux (RB/RM, HIN, 18 y/o)
CM - #08 - Angelina Lundqvist (CM, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #09 - Jeong-Ryun Mitsuharashi (OM/CM/LM/RM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
OM - #10 - Ikki Tokei (OM, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN
ST - #11 - Filippa Bakushima (ST, HIN, 20 y/o)

From the team that has enhancements to the team that doesn't need enhancements. The toughest team of the Empire, Mido-Hinode University's accolades in the athletics field are well known by pretty much anyone that ever heard about the Hinodejin university level. Despite their latest recruiting class not being as bombastic as their previous ones, they did bring in two talented players: Thierry Cailleux and Jeong-Ryun Mitsuharashi. No foreigners this time around, but considering they still have one of the most valued defenses in the league (Miz, Jönsson, Skok and Blondeau) with three foreigners there, I'd say they got that niche well filled at the moment. Favourites to win the league because they're Mido-Hinode, they're always favourites.

NATIONAL BATTLE INSTITUTE

Titles:

Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Luna Meriläinen (GK, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
RB - #02 - Ume Shimizu (RB/LB, HIN, 18 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CB - #03 - Gum Nam-Gong (CB/DM/CM, HIN, 18 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN
CB - #04 - Shin Kanda (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
LB - #05 - Tatsuo Sakamoto (LB/LM, HIN, 18 y/o)
DM - #07 - Yuuki Matsuoka (CB/DM, HIN, 20 y/o)

CM - #09 - Rhee Dong-Geung (CM/OM/ST, HIN, 19 y/o)
LM - #08 - Han Jung-Sook (LM/OM, HIN, 18 y/o)
OM - #10 - Kathil Mizumaru (OM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
ST - #11 - Sophea Shinjuku (ST, HIN, 19 y/o)

Once a team of a single player, one Toru Misawa, the National Battle Institute has suddenly appeared with a roster of really good players that could do some damage on the league's ceiling. Their recruiting saw them netting the towering Luna Meriläinen, straight away the team's best goalkeeper so far, the good Ume Shimizu and the legitimate heart of the defense Gum Nam-Gong. Together with what they already have from previous seasons, the Trainers have found their finest squad so far. Hard to tell if they'll go for the title but they're at least good enough to end in the top half of the team manages to find good chemistry.

ST - #10 - Sagong Dae-Hoon (RW/RM/ST/CM, 18 y/o) GOOD PLAYER

Last season's thirteenth finish saw some changes to the team via the recruiting class. In a fairly good period for football in the Joseon plains, they were able to bring in the ever courageous Jin Ha and an underrated star in Sagong Dae-Hoon. If the veteran defense clicks with the youth up front, this might be Nishikoku's year... but that's on a competition level that doesn't excuse weakness. Let's see if this is their time, then?

UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC
Mitsushima, Heiwashima
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Shintaro Nakamura (GK, HIN, 20 y/o, walk-in)
RB - #02 - Seong Ji-Moon (RB, HIN, 18 y/o)
CB - #03 - Yugi Yanagami (CB, HIN, 18 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CB - #04 - Karoline de Wijters (CB, HIN, 18 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
LB - #05 - Kei Shimazaki (LB, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
RM - #07 - Kirti Sataraguya (RB/RM, HIN, 20 y/o)
CM - #06 - Hangest Braseur (CM, CMT, 19 y/o)
CM - #08 - Delicata Allaire (CM, CMT, 19 y/o)
LM - #10 - Kichirou Yamaguchi (LM, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER
OM - #09 - Manami Nikaido (OM, HIN, 18 y/o)
ST - #11 - Lukas Stonemoore (ST, HIN, 19 y/o) CAPTAIN

One of the pluckier institutions of the top tier, the University of the Pacific remains on the top tier despite all odds against the more well-funded colleges across the Empire. It's probably thanks to their good eye in recruiting that, despite never really picking up a massive star, has managed to pick up some good players that were either overlooked or trying to find a new challenge for themselves. Players like Lukas Stonemoore, Kirti Sataraguya and the newcomer Karoline de Wijters are good examples, although the team's best coup from this season really was bringing in Kei Shimazaki. An unpredictable team, to tell you the truth.

Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Markéta Baník (GK, HIN, 19 y/o)
RB - #02 - Fanar Leifsson (RB, HIN, 19 y/o)
CB - #03 - Jun Tseng (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)

RM - #06 - Aristeides Yamada (RM, HIN, 20 y/o)
CM - #07 - Shinnosuke Nohara (CM/OM/ST, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #08 - Momoe Fujikawa (LM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
OM - #09 - Jean-Louis Desjardins (CM/OM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
ST - #11 - Ryota Oshiro (ST, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
ST - #10 - Linus Throgmorton (ST, KOR, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN

Still the greatest Hinodejin institution in the biological fields, Rakun's line-up had to deal with the institution's beliefs of not offering any kind of scholarship based in athletics, remaining an academic place that so happened to have a respectable football team. Linus Throgmorton from Ko-oren remains the big name at campus, but the addition of Jean-Louis Desjardins saw them net not only a great mind but also a fantastic offensive midfielder to complement the team's already good offensive section.

SAKURAHANA UNIVERSITY

Titles:

Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Amélie Nanami Anjou (GK, HIN, 20 y/o) CAPTAIN
LB - #02 - Tomoe Ichida (RB, HIN, 20 y/o, walk-in)
CB - #03 - Nobu Hisakawa (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #04 - Katsuro Kobayashi (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
RB - #05 - Shinji Nagai (LB, HIN, 20 y/o, walk-in)
DM - #06 - Teodor Svenson (DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
RM - #07 - Yuki Takashima (RM, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CM - #08 - Ryuunosuke Koromaru (CM, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER
LM - #09 - Yami Takashima (LM, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
OM - #10 - Hisataro Hoshimitsu (OM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
CF - #11 - Nana Mokuba (CF, HIN, 20 y/o)

Sakurahana University was responsible for some fantastic players in the past but this season is mostly based on how they're trying to bring in a pack of new players that should raise Sakurahana to its' former heights. Hisataro Hoshimitsu should be an interesting prospect for the future, but the real prospects in the team are yet to be seen.

SHIGA UNIVERSITY

GK - #01 - Ippo Hitsurigame (GK, HIN, 18 y/o)
RB - #02 - Tabur Temujin (RB, HIN, 20 y/o)

OM - #09 - Mitya Krupin (OM, HIN, 20 y/o)
CF - #10 - Maryuu Nitta (CF/FW, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN
ST - #11 - Lucky Summers (CM/OM/CF/ST/RW, USI/HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING

Possibly the most remote institution of the league, the Shiga University has been quietly assembling a pretty good team based on local talent. Of course, their most recent recruit class features two children of Sunrisians that were born abroad, although there's no actual indication to their birth country. They have since been promptly given Hinodejin citizenship. Lucky Summers could be a generational talent.

SOMEI-YOSHINO UNIVERSITY
Hinode, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Ryota Kawaguchi (GK, HIN, 20 y/o)
RB - #02 - Gim Du-Ri (RB, HIN, 19 y/o)
CB - #03 - Katsuko Higuchi (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #04 - Shunmaru Tenryu (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
LB - #05 - Aiya Maekawa (LB, HIN, 20 y/o)
DM - #06 - Tsuguo Sakakihara (DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
RM - #10 - Choji Matsumono-Gide (RB/RM/OM, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN
CM - #07 - Akira Nanakawa (CM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
LM - #08 - Benito Taketou (LM, HIN, 20 y/o)
OM - #09 - Gang Seong-Min (ST/OM, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
FW - #11 - Garnett Makanza (FW, OSR, 18 y/o) PROMISING

The home of some quality school teams, Somei-Yoshino benefits from its' Sunrisian roots, although the impact of those is slowly losing impact. They do have one of the best players in the league in Choji Matsumono-Gide, but their fears of not winning a single piece of silverware while having one of the best players of the Empire remains strong. Garnett Makanza came as a recruit from a really good Hanada City HS squad, so some expect her to be the thing they're missing to get over the hump.

TENTAI UNIVERSITY
Tentai City, Tentai
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Marcel Forde (GK, NPH, 19 y/o)
RB - #02 - Kohaku Yamashita (RB/CB, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CB - #03 - Takahazu Ozawa (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #04 - Irene Hemera Sasaki (CB, HIN, 20 y/o) CAPTAIN
LB - #05 - Katashi Yamashita (LB/CB, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
DM - #06 - Shun Jiufeng (CB/DM/SW, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
CM - #07 - Yan Jiang (CM, HIN, 20 y/o)
CM - #08 - Sun Mingjia (CM, HIN, 18 y/o)
OM - #09 - Chin Guan (OM, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER
OM - #10 - Zenzo Hattori (LM/RM/OM, HIN, 20 y/o)
ST - #11 - Yu Kun (ST, HIN, 18 y/o)

The Celestial Capital's major University, their team has been a feature in the top tier of the Empire for the past couple of years, improving every now and then. This season, they brought in mostly local talent although M'aka Antoine coming from Project Olimpo Jutsii was a bit of a surprise. Shun Jiufeng is a natural local talent, but it's hard to say if he'll develop well playing for the Tentai University side.

TOGENE GIRLS' ACADEMY
Kari, Minamihara
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Sprita Maraĵa (GK, HIN, 20 y/o) CAPTAIN
RB - #02 - Amporn Wattana (RB/RM/DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #03 - Chenda Chey (CB, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CB - #04 - Borte Justin Matsudaira (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
LB - #05 - Chiharu Mirei (LB/LM, HIN, 20 y/o)
DM - #06 - Jun Han (DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
RM - #07 - Kimiko Koizumi (RM/CM/LM, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CM - #08 - Karesinda Adorina (CM/OM, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #09 - Giulia Montebruzzo (CM/RM/LM/LB/RB, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
OM - #10 - Bridgitte Keßler (OM/SS/CF, HIN, 18 y/o)
ST - #11 - Norio Hisakawa (SS/CF, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER

Another institution with smaller reputation than the rest, the only Girls' Academy of all of the Empire, Togene has been at the top tier since the start, serving as the champion of a rather weak conference and then making the jump to the unified top tier we have now. The team does show the eventually talented player here and there: Sprita Maraĵa has under-21 national team caps while Kimiko Koizumi could be really good if given the chance.

TOTSUKA UNIVERSITY

Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Jeanne Dutronc (GK, HIN, 18 y/o) BEST PLAYER
RB - #02 - Asuka Minami (RB, HIN, 20 y/o, walk-in)
CB - #03 - Tana Kiln (CB, YSP, HIN, 19 y/o)
CB - #04 - Shiromu Hanazaki (CB, HIN, 18 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
LB - #05 - Kaori Kita (LB, HIN, 20 y/o, walk-in)
DM - #06 - Xiu Niuyong (DM, HIN, 18 y/o)
RM - #10 - Semiha Teke (RM/CM/LM, HIN, 18 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CM - #07 - Kiki Matsugomoto (CM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
LM - #08 - Miku Suzuki (LM, HIN, 20 y/o, walk-in)
OM - #09 - Mayu Matsushita (OM, HIN, 20 y/o, walk-in)
ST - #11 - Mikhail Instanhil (ST, YSP, 19 y/o) CAPTAIN

Let's be very polite to Totsuka University, they're not a big institution either by numbers or by actual sporting accolades. Totsuka's promotion was a surprise to most people and their roster does show it, they're not up to the level of the opposition and didn't have the funds to really do any sort of major recruiting. Their best player is Jeanne Dutronc, who refused to stay back at Hoenn for the rest of her life, preferring to study back at the main island. She's also only marginally better than the rest of the team. Future champions, they're probably not.

TSUTSUJI UNIVERSITY
Kitsunemachi, Tsutsuji
Titles:
2138 Book of Athena
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Heldeburgis Moitessier (GK, HIN, 19 y/o)
RB - #02 - Yuri Uchichika (RB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #03 - Amenemapet Month (CB, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER / CAPTAIN
CB - #04 - Yuki Nagata (CB, HIN, 19 y/o)
LB - #05 - Kamekatsu Yamana (LB, HIN, 20 y/o)
DM - #06 - Nina Matsunaga (DM, HIN, 19 y/o)
CM - #07 - Christa Vuckovic (CM, BKP, 18 y/o) PROMISING
OM - #08 - Kaede Munori (OM, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER
SS - #09 - Yumi Moto (SS, HIN, 18 y/o)
ST - #10 - Hisako Hanai (ST, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CF - #11 - Masashi Nakajima (CF, HIN, 18 y/o)

The inaugural Book of Athena champions, Tsutsuji University can now say they no longer have the Wonderful Trio of Mizuki, Nanami and Tomoe. This is a fairly refreshed line-up for the Foxes, what happens when you bring in Baker Park midfielder Christa Vuckovic on the recruiting period. They also feature an underrated talent in Kaede Munori while also having the fantastic captain skills of Amenemapet Month.

UCHINA STATE UNIVERSITY
Irohashima, Uchina
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Chi Jin-Hee (GK, HIN, 20 y/o)
RB - #02 - Guan Xiu (RB, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
CB - #03 - Rei Mukuma (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #04 - Chi Tae-Hee (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
LB - #05 - Meiki Fukuhara (RB/LB, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN
DM - #06 - Mio Tatsuoka (DM, HIN, 18 y/o)
RM - #07 - Mayuko Nakayama (RM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
CM - #08 - Kyo Ramone (CM, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #09 - Date Nagasaki (LM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
OM - #10 - Kazuya Ramone (OM, HIN, 20 y/o)
ST - #11 - Hiro Ramone (ST, HIN, 20 y/o)

Uchina State has had a lot of promise since they joined the top tier but in the end, the three years of Date Nagasaki as a member of the team only really amounted to him getting rehabilitated from his vices. The Ramone trio of brothers did get clean as well from their own adventures while local talent Meiki Fukuhara established herself as the team's best player with her speed. Mio Tatsuoka is the only prospect of the season to play for their team, surprisingly.

UTSUKUSHIMA UNIVERSITY

Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Ryuu Yukimura (GK, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
RB - #02 - Mishi Nishigawa (RM/RB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #03 - Oriko Totsumi (CB, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER / CAPTAIN
CB - #04 - Roy Jean Kitsushima (CB/DM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
LB - #05 - Misha Kournikova (LB/CB/LM, HIN, 18 y/o)
DM - #06 - Yoko Matsuyami (CB/DM/CM, HIN, 18 y/o)
RM - #07 - Kika Moshioka (CM/OM/ST/LM/RM, HIN, 18 y/o)
CM - #08 - Misha Nishigawa (CM, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #09 - Madoka Tsuchibana (LM, HIN, 19 y/o)
OM - #11 - Mashi Nihisgawa (OM, HIN, 20 y/o)
ST - #10 - Ami Tanaka (ST, HIN, 19 y/o) BEST PLAYER

Returning to the top tier after a single season where the Nishigawa trio did what they do best: screw up a good team's season via being divas. This returning team is fueled by the two players who joined the team last season in Ami Tanaka and Ryuu Yukimura. The recruit class sees a trio of fantastic rookies in Roy Jean Kitsushima, Yoko Matsuyami and Kika Moshioka.

Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Intira Metharom (GK, HIN, 19 y/o)
RB - #02 - Aifric McIver (RM/RB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #03 - Li Xiaomu (CB/RB/LB/RM/LM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
CB - #04 - Madonna McIntosh (CB/DM/CM, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER / CAPTAIN
LB - #05 - Airin Ennis Fujita (LM/LB, HIN, 20 y/o)
DM - #06 - Hikari Fujioka (DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
CM - #07 - Hana Yamashita (CM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
OM - #08 - Kang Min-Seo (OM, HIN, 18 y/o)
RW - #09 - Cienne Wu (RW, YSP, 19 y/o)
SS - #11 - Fiona Ihalainen (SS, HIN, 18 y/o)
ST - #10 - Aviya Uchiha (CM/OM/ST, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER

One of last season's promoted teams, they managed to stick around at the top tier together with Shiga while Chokoboshima and Nakoruru College went down. They did unveil the talented cyborg known as Madonna McIntosh to the world, but there are some really good players here, including Yesopalithan Cienne Wu who joined last season. Li Xiaomu might be their next star in the making.

ZEPPELIN UNIVERSITY
Daiyawayasu, Somei-Yoshino
Titles:
None
Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Yuki Ashida (GK, HIN, 20 y/o, walk-in.)
RB - #02 - Shisaru Zeperin (RB/LB, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER / CAPTAIN
CB - #03 - Matsu Ichida (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #04 - Bakuryu Nobutatsu (CB/RB/LB/DM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
LB - #05 - Irene Menodora (LB/LM, HIN, 19 y/o)
DM - #06 - Makoto Satou (DM, HIN, 20 y/o)
RM - #07 - Artemisia Menodora (RB/RM, HIN, 19 y/o)
CM - #08 - Bunjiro Ichida (CM, HIN, 20 y/o)
LM - #09 - Niviarsiaq Kaalilasut (LM/RM/CM, HIN, 20 y/o)
OM - #10 - Hatomi Saiki (OM, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER
ST - #11 - Yugo Ogami (ST, HIN, 19 y/o) GOOD PLAYER

The Zeppelin University is known for being at the perfect crosspoint between being the finest academical and athletic institution of the entirety of the Empire. They're probably one of the most charismatic teams in the Empire, known for their variety and skills. It also helps some of the players came from the same institution and have been friends for quite a while, specially Nobutatsu and Ogami.

ZORA INSTITUTE

Predicted Starter XI:
GK - #01 - Apan Hitamitos (GK, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
RB - #02 - Ramena Nunetava (RB/RM, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #03 - Ipos Murakami (CB, HIN, 20 y/o)
CB - #04 - Karen Itomiko (CB, HIN, 19 y/o)
LB - #10 - Kavon Iperkova (CB/DM/CM/RB/LB, HIN, 20 y/o) BEST PLAYER
DM - #05 - Keton Okeneti (DM, HIN, 19 y/o)
RM - #06 - Pato Epaneje (DM/RM, HIN, 18 y/o) PROMISING
CM - #07 - Pavar Ketonon (CM, HIN, 19 y/o)
LM - #08 - Fuphuh Hatorone (LM, HIN, 20 y/o) GOOD PLAYER
OM - #09 - Utamu Phenenane (OM, HIN, 20 y/o)
ST - #11 - Aruyi Fanoluma (ST, HIN, 18 y/o)

The Bridemaids of the league, Zora Institute has always been deemed a dangerous team but the tale always seems to end in the same way, nothing to show for all their efforts and all of their amazing prospects. Maybe they'll find that piece of gold in the end of the road but that's probably not gonna happen now.

SEASONAL NOTES
- The first season with a clear presence of cyborgs in the league saw attendances rise as a result of the impressive game played by these new hot commodities. Mashu Wolves' Alita Yamakura guided her team to the top of the Sunrise Division while the Déesses rose back to prominence on the backs of prolific point guard Fei Xianghua and dominating center Alisa Kamamura. The Moonlight Conference, on the other hand, found shooting guard Rikku Marufuji leading the Moshika Saints to an unprecedented conference top seed for the rather new team. The otherwise unnotable Reishima Drakkar performed pretty well thanks to their own new star in Thór Magnussen. Of course, all of those are cyborgs, which really goes to show how they perform way better at basketball than regular humans.
- The playoffs became an interesting show to watch as all eight teams mostly relied on their cyborgs to do most of the fighting. In the end, the Saints' Rikku Marufuji sealed his team's passport after besting Ji Aang and his Yujin Windbenders, while the one-two punch of Kamamura and Xianghua saw off Kanteshima-born shooting guard Lilith Quartershire and her Raimunejima Thunder to square off in the final. The series went to seven games with Game 7 being the most-watched basketball game ever in the history of the Hinodejin Empire as Kamamura's block in the last second of the game meant that the former capital of the Rus remained without a title while the Déesses once again felt the taste of gold.
OTHER NEWS
- Inspired by the Conference system employed at the university level, the National High School Tournament saw schools allowing their schedules to be arranged by their own conferences instead of relying on the Tournament's organization. The tournament was still arranged by whoever had a grand total of twenty-five wins in NHST-recognized games throughout the year with a total of 128 schools making the cut. In the end, the tournament was mostly dominated by Somei-Yoshino high schools although finalists Senso-Shukujo Ladies HS (from Tsutsuji) stood out. In the end, newcomers Kawasobu Nekketsu HS won the title in a highly contested match.
- The All-Hinode University Tournament saw its' second edition under the Conference system with institutions all across the empire trying to figure out ways to undo the cyborg threat from schools like KOS-MOS and National Tech. The Ainu Conference saw recently relegated in football institution Nakoruru College take the title, surprise side Prower College claimed the title in the Athena Conference, Asakawa College reclaimed the Big Island Conference title, Mido-Hinode A&M claimed the Hornet Conference title over regulars Mido-Hinode University while Kanshiro University takes the helm from Nishikoku University at Joseon Conference. The smallest conferences see Drakonian Magic claim the Magic League title, now represented by a golden wand while the extremes of the island of Main North and Southern witnessed Basque University and Audino College being their respective champions. The big three conferences have their major champions: Kitsune Conference has Tsutsuji University, Sunrise Conference has Shiranui College (a surprise when Somei-Yoshino, Speedwagon and Zeppelin did their best to claim the title) and Sunshine Conference witnesses KOS-MOS Technological Institute once again claim their championship.
At the tournament, KOS-MOS Technological Institute turns from the team to beat into back-to-back national champions but they did have a hard time against both Prower College and Shiranui College, relative nobodies that appear to have something special in their teams, the love of the game of basketball. As corny as it sounds.
- The Street Hoops Invitational was hosted at Honeyame, Mido-Hinode, marking the first time the Invitational was hosted at the Western portion of the Empire. This being in the land that had seen war not too long ago (barely sixty years), many of the players here were born at sections of the Empire that were recent conquests, which meant that some of them lost limbs from the battles, usually from bombs, which had destroyed many citadels and, sadly, many people. A team made of war orphans who were politely nicknamed "the Dead Arm Road" from Kanteshima took the title of the Invitational.
