I come to you with my heart covered in blood and my soul crushed. I bring horrific news and I am not sure I can go through this without breaking down and sobbing in pain. But I must and I will try. His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic, Our Beloved Leader, Our Kind and Caring Father of the Baggnagian nation. The Great Leader…the Great Leader has left us. The Chief of State has passed on. Oh God……Oh no……

The Great Leader has warned us all that this part of the prophecy may come true though we prayed it never would. We prayed that His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic would lead us until the end of time and into whatever battle that awaits us. The forces of darkness have attacked the Great Leader but His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic did not succumb. The Great Leader did what the Great Leader was supposed to do and what the Great Leader had warned us about. His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic warned us that the Great Leader would have to abandon this realm of reality to face the forces of darkness on another plane of existence. But the Great Leader said that he would not leave us forever. His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic has abandoned the physical form that the Great Leader was in but promised to return to us in a new vessel that the Great Leader has selected.

Before His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic returns to us in a new vessel the Great Leader has chosen we shall pay respects to the physical form we have come to know the Great Leader by. The physical form of His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic. The Great Leader’s Cabinet, the Consultative Assembly of North Baggnagia and the Army Generals will further instruct us all on the proceedings of escorting His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic out of this life and laying the Great Leader’s previous physical form to rest. The Great Leader’s Cabinet, the Consultative Assembly of North Baggnagia and the Army Generals will then guide us and await together with us the return of the Great Leader to our realm in a new form. Depsite working with a mere one percent of its former budget ever since Kiez and the USJR stopped pouring money into the Layfetian Space Agency from 1983 to1990, the now small space agency has continued to provide advancements and discoveries in the fields of Astrophysics and Astronomy. Unfortunately because of the nation's small economy, ever since 1990, LSA has mostly been tasked to manage Layfet's small "fleet" of necessary service and intelligence satellites.

However, just yesterday, one of the last remaining space probe project leads announced to LSA Director Amy Campbell that the Layfetian Deep Space Probe (LDSP) had reported a marked increase in its detection of charged particles from interstellar space, which are normally deflected by the solar winds within the heliosphere from the Sun. Thus the probe has officially entered the interstellar medium at the edge of the Sunalayan System.

Of Layfet's remaining five projects including LDSP, Intercepter, Sunscreen, Hunter, and the Layfetian Space Telescope (LST), LDSP proves to be the most exciting as after 34 years since it's launch. It is finally beginning its main science phase and will (with the exception of the LST) be the longest lasting of the remaining projects. Sunscreen, a small probe that has spent 29 years exploring the Sun's corona will be sent into the star next week and Sunscreen's will be moved over to the LDSP project.


Director Campbell also released an announcement saying that the Layfetian Space Agency as per Layfet's entry into the Ventismarian Union, will be absorbed into the Vemtismarian Space Agency and will see allocation of the VSA's budget pushed towards the LSA's current projects and will even possibly see LSA in conjunction with its now parent organization create new projects. Layfet's mandatory service satellites will be transfered under the jursdiction of the Layfetian Telecommunications Company the and the intelligence satellites over to the Layfetian Intelligence Agency.

Teen Murdered in Western Altis

Sergios Malallis and his wife Tatiana were terrified when they heard the sound of gunfire directly outside their home in Agios Kontantinos. Sergios was quick to rush outside and discover what the source of the shooting was, however he was was too late - watching as what he describes as a brown pick-up truck sped away from his home, leaving him to find only the body of his 18 year old son on the ground.

It goes without saying that this event has greatly hurt the Malallis family, and the Altian Defence Force has been working to investigate the murder which they believe was the work of the terrorist group the "Free Revolutionary Army". This would not be surprising, as the group has committed an increasing number of heinous acts in recent years against the citizens of Altis and particularly Malden, where the group is supposedly based.

My son was murdered in broad daylight, and for what? What could he have possibly done to deserve such a fate?

Mr Malallis wants the men behind the attack to be brought to justice before any more families can fall victim to them and has allegedly even volunteered to assist the A.D.F. in the search, although his offer was turned down. Do not attempt to confront terrorists on your own, inform the A.D.F. of any known terrorist activity. Special Counsel investigation released; protests sweep across country against Prime Minister

SOKACZOW - On Monday, Special Counsel Michal Kraus released his highly anticipated conclusion on the investigation he carried out in relation to Prime Minister Gdańsk's alleged connection to real estate developments in Judapóst. His report, concluded that there was sufficient evidence and connection between the Prime Minister's office and casino developers to support accusations of funding projects there.

In his investigation, Kraus found conversations between the Prime Minister's office and several third parties that helped orchestrate a deal between his office and 7 different casino developments in Hospicze. The most notable new developments in the region: the Paluma Orbro Casino and Resort, Kasyno Judapósti, and the Wesgresti Casino Club, all released financial documents during the investigation to reveal significant tax breaks on prime real estate.

While government subsidies for private properties aren’t illegal in Umbrellya, secretly profiting off of such a deal definitely is. Kraus’ investigation failed to find evidence to support accusations that Gdańsk had any illegality in the deal with the casinos, but it does beg the question as to why the Prime Minister was subsidizing them.

2 days after the release of Kraus’ conclusion, millions of Umbrellas gathered across the country demanding the resignation of PM Gdańsk. The two largest demonstrations took place in the capitol, Sokaczow, and in Morningstar - the ladder housing the largest social-left voting bloc in the country.

Members of the United Social Assembly spoke out today against PM Gdańsk to hand over all information pertaining to his connection with the real estate development projects. No comment has been given by the Prime Minister or his office about the scandal, but the Free Market Democrats are expected to take a devastating blow to public opinion and support as the election nears next year.

The largest protest is being held in Greńje Parcaj Square in Sokaczow with over 800,000 demonstrators at its peak.

BREAKING: New Vesvai’s Jets Confront The Dominion Of Vesvai’s Jets Invading New Vesvai’s Airspace: Armed Clash Averted

A dangerous incident has occurred on the border between New Vesvai and Vesvai. It had nearly led to an armed confrontation which has always remained a risk between both Vesvais all this time. The shared border remains a zone of tension. Today Vesvaian Revolutionary Air Defense Force was forced to react swiftly to the incursion into New Vesvai’s airspace by the jets of the Royal Vesvaian Air Force. Several RVAF jets invaded New Vesvai’s airspace after maneuvering next to it for quite some time and after having held what seemed to be air force drills a couple of days prior. Jets of VRADF that were already in the sky immediately reacted and rushed towards the invading RVAF jets. Several more jets were lifted from the airfields of nearby air bases to rush to the scene. The army on the ground began loading the anti-air weaponry and aiming at the invading RVAF jets. Everyone was ready to fire. After a close-call confrontation between VRADF and RVAF jets in the skies Vesvai’s warplanes eventually turned back and started heading back to Vesvai. VRADF jets followed the invading aircraft and caught up to it so that New Vesvai’s warplanes could escort the invading aircraft out. Once Vesvai’s warplanes crossed the border back into Vesvai the VRADF immediately turned back. The army on the ground also stood down without having fired a shot but having been ready to do so.

New Vesvai’s Minister of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Varsi Polvandet accused Vesvai of violating New Vesvai’s sovereignty and provoking this confrontation in the skies. Polvandet said that the number of New Vesvai’s warplanes on patrol was increased after he had told the MPs and Prime Minister Matteas Noran about Vesvai’s strange military activities near the shared border. Because of that increase the number of New Vesvai’s warplanes was greater and outnumbered Vesvai’s invading warplanes. Additional warplanes also rushed in from nearby air bases and Vesvai’s jets were left completely outnumbered. That was even without mentioning the readiness of New Vesvai’s army to open fire on Vesvai’s warplanes from the ground. Outnumbered jets of Vesvai fled because of realization that they were outmatched and thus an armed clash was averted. According Minister Polvandet:

“[V]esvai needs to be confronted through strength because they must see an opponent that they would not dare to test or go up against. Before we can rely on the strong friendly shoulder of our allies New Vesvai itself must be that strong force that should intimidate anyone who might dare to try and attack us. Only that way peace will remain.”

Polvandet hinted that New Vesvai may have to reconsider the increase of military budget after the Parliament rejected it not that long ago as a sign of good faith to Vesvai. The Minister thinks that New Vesvai should be militarily stronger than Vesvai in order to keep Vesvai from daring to attack New Vesvai. Polvandet is set to meet with PM Matteas Noran again, also with military officials and regularly report to the Parliament. In the meantime PM Noran only had time to very briefly react to the incident before taking other action:

“[I]t is interesting to think that this provocation from Vesvai’s side comes so shortly after we had sign a big deal with SOWEFTA, got even closer to Western Corentia and asserted our sovereignty separate from Vesvai. Somebody in Aurisi must not like that.”

Shortly after the incident PM Noran demanded a third phone call with Vesvai’s Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal who did not satisfy New Vesvai’s Prime Minister’s previous attempt at a phone conversation after being informed of Vesvai’s strange military maneuvers at the border.

President General: "Explosion was Ziamban Justice for Airstrikes"

Many unfortunes have come to the Republic since the downing of Englean Imperial Airways Flight 2345 weeks ago, with the most recent happening being the "attack" on the Golden Oil Refinery Site in Makoumba. This site was owned by the Shastaran company Golden Well Oil, which had operated the site for many years prior to the incident on July 3. The incident, as very well known by many Ziambans, had been a large scale "attack" and explosion at the site. The Golden Well company had operated a private security, which reported being overrun by an "unknown faction in the DCZR" during the "attack."

Following this incident, a member of the Shastaran National Assemblea had made threats against the government of President General Ad-Idi with sanctions and the claim to "move Shastaran business somewhere else." This claim was not taken lightly within the Republic, as it relies on its oil revenue to continue supporting the populace and keep order within the nation. Many members of the Republican Parliament had believed this threat to be a bluff, as the Golden Oil Company has a contract with the DCZR government that still has a lengthy time remaining on it. As one stated, "Sanctions would not provide the Shastaran government or companies a good position to be in here." However, the Shastaran government did indeed vote to freeze all assets of the DCZR within their nation - including assets belonging to the President General. Members of the Golden Oil company have also advocated for the Shastaran armed forces to be involved in the matter.

These accusations, claims, and actions have not bode well within the DCZR - especially after the actions of what was believed to be the Englean air force. Two days prior to the oil incident, the village of Kakalaka in central Ziamban was destroyed by an unknown airstrike late in the night. A total of 59 were confirmed dead later that night, with 100 more injured from the strike. At the same time, a storage facility was destroyed near Willemsburg in an explosion which was presumed to be an airstrike. No deaths had come out of the second explosion, but 23 were injured. The Democratic Republican Air Force has stated that the explosions were from an "airstrike that was spotted on radar," but that "the aircraft responsible were too fast for interception." This has left many in the DRAF believing it was an attack by the Englean air force, for it possesses aircraft capable of high-speed attack.

President General Ad-Idi spoke to the Republican Times on the matter, "The attack, as unfortunate as it may be, was a result of a form of 'Ziamban Justice' in return for the attacks on our nation. These cowardly airstrikes had killed a multitude of civilians, which in turn led to an independent response from a group outside of our knowledge and control." He also continued onto the subject of the Shastaran actions, stating "The actions by the Shastaran government and their claims are not welcome here. We are a nation barely surviving after centuries of occupation by the West, and now you come here and attempt to regain the stranglehold. This will not go as you expect. I would believe that more justice could be ahead of us, especially in respect to the Engleans."

Assembly to direct Secretary General of the Union to "Dispose" of Monarchists and Nationalists, new legislation shows.

The Assembly today has passed controversial legislation aimed at those who threaten the Union. The legislation, the International Act for the Control of Crimes of Union citizens, contained a section that will be added brand new to the Union penal code which states that If someone even expressly admits to being in favor of a threatening ideology; eg. monarchism, that person will be publicly ejected from the Union and all assets and monetary goods seized. The law also changes parts of the tax codes to change the way the tax laws of the Union work; with one more centrist assemblyman who criticized the bill being escorted out of the assembly building for doing as such on orders from the Unionist party's government.

Even with the massive corruption seen by many centrist and right-leaning politicians coming out in reports authored by the Union Investigative Service, the main investigative arm for crimes in the Union not concerning national security. Those cases which fall into matters of national security are handed over to the Central Security Service or the Union Party Security Service/Union Special Services Bureau. The new criminal laws have a public voting period where people could voice their opinions through the ballot box, including foreigners currently with a visa that isn't a tourist one. However, the Central Security Service has warned that Monarchists and all other right-wing ideologies have been given notice that if they vote no, they may be arrested due to the matter of this law going into effect from the moment it was passed today until it, if ever, is repealed.

Many citizens polled about the new law say that it is a benefit to the Union as a whole, and the policy should be expanded to include foreign diplomats who normally receive special legal protections. That sparked outrage from prominent conservative activists, who again demonstrated for equal rights for conservatives in front of the Assembly as the vote was being held. They were quickly rounded up and charged with "Subversion against the state" and ultimately denied trial in the Union courts. They were tried in the Union Court of Military Justice by military prosecutors as criminals acting against the state. This isn't new for Demitorians. This new law would only give the arresting and tax power to military and security authorities. Civil servants at the executive and senior levels are elected by merit and selected by a board of experts in their field who judge their suitability and ability to work effectively. This, however, has been turned over increasingly to the military in recent months, with the event the Administrator of the Union Fire Service; the Union's firefighting and rescue service being selected by a military commission of firefighters and firefighting administrators with the rank of Major or above. However, the candidates also have to be confirmed by the Union Party Congress, not the Union Assembly.

Altian Government Welcomes Talvistovan Military Personnel

Citizens of the island of Vis may be treated to the occasional roar of a jet engine flying overhead, following a recent agreement between the Altian and Talvistovan government. As fellow members of the Association of Cooperative Corentian and International States, Chief Commander Panos Toccou has authorized military personnel of the Kingdom of Talvistova to station themselves in the administrative area of the Vis Island Region. The detachment consists of 250 personnel and 25 Pilgrimsfalk II fighter aircraft from the Talvistovan 10th Kämpeskvadron, along with 500 additional personnel that will reside on Vis for the sake of enriching friendly relations between the two countries.

The Chief Commander has stated that this is simply another step in ensuring the continued stability of the Altian Islands, allowing more resources from the Altian Defence Force to be dedicated to combating the growing terrorist threat originating from the island of Malden.

As terrorist activity grows we must all put forth a concerted effort to dealing with the threat in what ways we can, be it reporting any suspected threats or contributing more directly by supporting our troops. The personnel sent by Talvistova has already gone a long way in enabling the A.D.F. to better protect Altian citizens by sending our own troops where they are needed most.

The Vis Island Region, hosting the most extensive network of military sites in the Eastern North Islands, has always proven to be a signature staple of the Altian Defence Force's military capabilities. With the addition of Talvistovan military personnel and equipment, Vis will likely continue to impress friends of the Altian people across the world while sending a clear message to potential enemies that we are not to be trifled with.

North Baggnagia declares 100 Days of National Mourning over the passing of His Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic, Golden Statue will be built in Silcenda

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – The Consultative Assembly of North Baggnagia has voted to declare 100 Days of National Mourning in North Baggnagia over the passing of His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic. The Consultative Assembly also voted on a constitutional amendment to declare His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic: Chief of State of North Baggnagia for life. This means that any chosen successor, who will be a reincarnation of our Great Leader, shall hold a different title because His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic will forever be the only Chief of State of North Baggnagia for life. The Great Leader will be the only holder of the Chief of State title forever. The Great Leader’s Cabinet was present at the Consultative Assembly and applauded with deputies of the Consultative Assembly after their votes. Any one of the Members of the Cabinet is expected to become that new vessel which the Great Leader has chosen to reincarnate in. The people of North Baggnagia are eagerly awaiting that day.

The Municipality of Silcenda has announced in a public square that a Golden Statue of His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic will be built to honor the Great Leader. The Golden Statue will be the Great Leader’s memorial and will also keep the Great Leader alive to watch over the people of North Baggnagia in this additional golden vessel. The Cabinet will be announcing more details on the State Funeral for His Beloved Excellency Chief of State Fran Hapenic later on to all people of North Baggnagia.

David George Welcomes Ophioneus President, Io, to Capsland

The Executive Chancellor and President made a rare joint statement on the issue of Eikangaard

The President of Ophioneus, Io Innokenty, has made his first visit to Capsland at the invite of David George and the Foreign Office. While this visit was not a state visit it was a very important visit in terms of David George's career and Capsland's foreign standing in the Eikangaardi issue.

Not many Executive Chancellor's can say they have had the pleasure of receiving the President of Ophioneus or the USJR during their time in office, making EC David George a member of an exclusive club of few Capslandian leaders that have gone out of their way to meet the leaders of Ophioneus. The reason for this lack of direct diplomatic interaction can be traced to the coup and ensuing instability that the USJR had seen in 2017 where Ophioneus relations became unclear in the months after.

The Capslandian executive has usually had a bipolar relationship with their counterparts in Ophioneus, with Capslandian diplomats sponsoring multiple Ventismarian Parliamentary bills to allow greater freedoms for Ophioneus in the Ventismarian market in contrast to previous Ophian support for historically hostile regimes in Rezua and the Socialist Republic of Kiez against the Ventismarian Union driving a wedge between closer cooperation. However, President Io's recent actions in supporting the VU's efforts in the EUSR and an apparent goal of "normalising relations" between the Federation and the West have spurred on a diplomatic initiative between Capsland and Ophioneus potentially laying the foundations for a future positive relationship.

The Executive Chancellor and the President first went on a tour of Capsland's historic sites before discussing common policy. It was noted by Ophioneus diplomatic staff that the president was particularly blown away by the grandeur of the Old City of Rai - which was burned down during the Capslandian civil war and laid the foundations for modern New Rai. Due to the nature of the visit, the President was not hosted by the King in a typical state dinner but was instead hosted by the Duke of Vertston, Ramsay Knowlton-Brambich III, in Lowgarden Palace on the outskirts of Burton.

After, EC David George and President Io both released a joint statement on the current issues facing the EUSR:

The issues facing the Eikangaardi people are grotesque, taboo and saddening. The escalation of the crisis in Eikangaard by state actors are unfortunate and avoidable; Capsland and her allies have been pushed into a position where there is no room for diplomatic manoeuvring - therefore, an immediate call for peace on the continent must be heard and taken seriously by all parties. The prominent position of the government of Capsland is a unified Eikgaardi state that presents no immediate threat to the continued stability and security of the Nordismar and Capsland itself.

There is a consensus in the international community - a consensus that both the Federal Kingdom of Capsland and the Federation of Ophioneus share - that support for the harsh foreign policy displayed in Eikangaard is untenable and therefore must be revoked in order for the peace process to take course. Hostile state actors are a direct threat to the peace process and therefore must ultimately take the prospect of removing support for aggressive partisan forces in Eikangaard seriously and unequivocally.

Both the Federal Kingdom and the Federation will use their position in Ventismar and Ophion respectively to display a zero tolerance policy to increased support for hostile forces in Eikangaard.

Stokfort not satisfied with Bouwer Steelworks' pollution reduction targets

STOKFORT -- The city council of Stokfort has announced their discontent with Bouwer Steelworks' plans to cut pollution of their Stokfort plant. The steel mill, the largest in Ventismar after the closing of CapslandSteel's Gaddrin mill, has for a long time been the most polluting plant in Lindenholt. With cancer rates of neighbourhoods downwind from the plant being almost 20% higher than the national average, there has been a push for Bouwer to reduce emissions.

In a press conference yesterday, the CEO of the steel and armaments producer spoke about their "2030 ambition". The company presented plans to cut emissions by 25% through the use of advanced scrubbers, but made no promises to switch over their production process to a cleaner alternative process.

GreenProgressives city council member Jaap de Groen is critical of the plan, saying that cutting 25% is not enough. "No matter where you look, companies are pledging to cut emissions. What multiple scientific studies have found out however is that companies systematically fail to meet their own goals. If Bouwer says emissions will be 75% of what they were in 2019 in 2030, then the research says it will be around the 85 or 90% mark. These heavy polluters should enact stricter and more radical emission goals."

A more nuanced voice comes from Liberal People's Party city council member Jos van Breg, she says that limiting the company's main goal should be to limit the amount of particulates released in to the atmosphere without such measures affecting the amount of jobs.

Despite some members of the city council being less critical of Bouwer's plans, the Union of Democrats and GreenProgressives held city council accepted a motion to urge Bouwer to consider even more radical cuts to emissions and particulates and to start implementation of more eco-friendly steel production processes.

Bouwer's board of directors has not yet responded to the city council's criticism and experts in the field doubt that they would take the city council's motion seriously.

The Royal Vesvaian Air Force and the Vesvaian Revolutionary Air Defense Force were close to an aerial battle and armies on both sides on land were prepared to each back their own up and possibly even go at it against each other. The risk of escalation was real but an armed clash was avoided in the end. New Vesvai’s side was quick to accuse Vesvai for the incident and for trying to violate the sovereignty of New Vesvai by invading New Vesvai’s airspace. New Vesvai’s Prime Minister Matteas Noran also tried to connect the supposed provocation by Vesvai to New Vesvai’s recent signing of a trade deal with SOWEFTA. Military officials have supported the actions of RVAF and said that New Vesvai's theory of events does not match reality. Vesvai’s Minister of National Defense and Security Robert Praesedit soon made the patriotic duty of downgrading New Vesvai’s propaganda attack against Vesvai and explaining what went down in reality:

“[T]here were many in New Vesvai’s government, parliament and military who immediately jumped to blaming Vesvai for what happened at the border rather than working together with us to deescalate. Among those blaming Vesvai were PM Matteas Noran and my counterpart in New Vesvai Minister of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Varsi Polvandet. We tried to be nice but if that’s how New Vesvai’s going to talk then maybe we should say what really went down? As a matter of fact we should.

The reality was that New Vesvai’s warplanes have been increasing their numbers near Vesvai’s airspace and preparing for an incursion themselves. Everything that New Vesvai was blaming on us they were doing themselves. Eventually the increased number of New Vesvai’s jets started greatly outnumbering our warplanes and that is what New Vesvai admitted themselves. This increased contingent invaded Vesvai’s airspace to which we were forced to react and have our jets escort New Vesvai’s jets out of Vesvai’s airspace. During this our warplanes obviously entered New Vesvai’s airspace. This was done in retaliation and also and to show New Vesvai that our jets can enter Vesvai’s skies just as quickly as theirs can so further provocations shouldn’t be made anymore.

At the moment both sides have stood down. I will be meeting Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal so that we could decide on a proper response and what’s next.”

Protesters Call for Immediate Resignation of Premier Mikkelsen and Supporters Prior to Elections

Amid concerns over the fairness of elections promised in the face of both domestic and international pressure, multiple protest groups have called for the immediate resignation of both Premier Mikkelsen and his supporters in the People's National Council. They say that, in order for these elections to be held fairly, the Premier must not be permitted to remain in power lest he continue to erode the democratic process within the EUSR.

However, this call has not come without controversy. With the previous resignation of Premier Maass before her untimely death, many of her supporters also followed suit, leaving the PNC with a gaping hole of unfilled seats. Already the PNC is operating with only about 65% of its seats filled. With the current Premier having a sizeable following within the PNC, this could lead to the Council operating with less than half of its total membership.

"This would actually make it much easier for someone to undermine the democratic process." Said Professor Jans Stevensen at the University of Reschergaard. "Currently, the People's National Council acts as a sizeable check upon the Premier's power. Without that body remaining healthy, it would be easy for a new Premier to act against the wishes of the PNC and ensure his or her victory in the coming elections."

The new elections are scheduled for July 22nd, and with war with the Republic seemingly on the horizon, this vote could prove pivotal to the future of the Eikangaard United Socialist Republic.

Last phase of rebuilding begins in Praeta

City set to be fully rebuilt by summer of 2020

Vella The Tyrenian government announced today the start of the final stages of rebuilding Vella. According to the government statement almost 90% of the rebuilding process has already been completed with only several areas in the eastern half of the city needing more work. Workers took to the streets today to begin refurbishing the destroyed parts of the city.

Vella was the only area of fighting during the 2006 coup. As the capital of the former Socialist Republic, Vella was and is a communist stronghold. When the coup began forces still loyal to the Socialist Republic consolidated within the city, fortifying the streets and preparing for Arvina’s attack. President Arvina ordered a full assault on the city and used carefully places air strikes and artillery barrages to weaken the communist’s defenses. After several months without much supplies, the communist forces surrendered and ceded the city to Arvina.

The war left much of Vella in rubble, leaving a huge dent in the Tyrenian economy. Vella was an industrial powerhouse and the loss of many of it’s integral factories was a major blow to Tyrenes. President Arvina set his focus on rebuilding Vella's industry. Now that most of the industrial areas are rebuilt he has set plans to finish the rest of the reconstruction. Workers that began rebuilding today say that their contract extends until next summer which was confirmed by the government report issued earlier today.

BREAKING: Kleinaruscha Attacked, "There exists a state of war between the DCZR and the Kaiserreich"

Ranknitz, Imperial Republic of Kleinaruscha -- BREAKING: At 02:12 last night, the coastal town of Kongsstrøm - home of the Kongsstrøm Naval Base - was attacked by a flight of 5 aircraft armed with cruise missiles offshore. A total of 10 cruise missiles were fired at the town, presumably targeting the naval base as 6 of the 10 missiles had trajectories towards the base. A total of 20 people have been confirmed to have died from the incident, a majority being civilians whom were near the impact site of one of the missiles in the town itself.

This attack had been unexpected, even after a slew of threats had originated from the DCZR earlier last week after the explosion of a Shastaran oil refinery within the central DCZR. According to reports by the Kaiserliche-Marine, aircraft were detected by radar on a course towards Kleinaruscha but contact was lost because of a severe storm in the area at the time. This storm had prevented the base from launching aircraft at the time and therefore a yellow alert was imitated in preparation for any possibility, and this process included preparing aircraft in their hangars for immediate scramble when the storm had died down enough for the takeoff of aircraft. The aircraft were detected once more 30 minutes later, however the storm continued to prevent any aircraft from being scrambled and prompted a radio broadcast being directed towards the aircraft for identification. After multiple attempts at contacting the aircraft, the yellow alert was raised to "orange" with base defences being prepared for a possible attack. However, this was not relayed to the vessels docked within the harbour and left the base with only 3 vessels having their CIWS systems activated per regulation by the Kaiserliche-Marine (KM regulations state that a minimum of three vessels must have CIWS systems active when in harbour).

At 02:00 the storm had died down enough to regain contact with the approaching aircraft, which remained within their course towards Kleinaruscha with limited deviation. At this time, three aircraft of the Luftstreitkräfte 21. Jagdgeschwader were dispatched to intercept the aircraft. Two minutes following this order, multiple new radar contacts were spotted coming from the location of the aircraft. They were much smaller targets with a higher rate of speed, which had persuaded officers on watch that these were air-launched cruise missiles coming from the aircraft. Immediately the alert status was set to red, with all personnel ordered to prepare all defences - the missiles were estimated to be only 5-10 minutes away from the base. According to Kaiserliche-marine spokesman Bernhart Westheimer, the officer assigned to the watch incorrectly assumed that the CIWS systems of three vessels would be viable for defence of the base and the town. The officer has been reprimanded and is expected to be transferred to a base of lower importance.

At 02:10, the first missiles reached the base and only one was successful in evading the CIWS systems of SMS Karl Stavsson - the vessel that was at the mouth of the harbour. This missile continued on, and impacted a decommissioned Imperial Republican Navy cargo vessel without any injuries to personnel. A total of 5 more missiles assaulted the base, with only 2 actually reaching their targets through the hail of CIWS fire from multiple vessels - the prominently active vessels being the SMS Karl Stavsson, IRS Harris Ferguson, and the Talvistovan aircraft carrier Admiral Joniken. The IRS Harris Ferguson was struck by one missile, damaging its lower hull and killing eight crewmembers. Accroding to KM sources, this was because the Harris Ferguson had left the harbour earlier and had been outside of the CIWS range of other vessels in the harbour which exposed it to the missiles.

The remaining four missiles had targeted the town of Kongsstrøm itself, with two landing harmlessly outside of the town due to electrical failure which was later determined by an investigative team. The remaining two missiles landed in a shopping centre parking lot, which resulted in the death of 5 individuals, while the other landed in a lower-income area and resulted in the death of 8 individuals. Three out of the five aircraft were intercepted and destroyed by the earlier scrambled fighters, and the attacking aircraft were identified as Vi-50 bomber aircraft operated by the DCZR. The remaining two were intercepted by aircraft of the Talvistovan carrier Admiral Joniken, with one being destroyed and the last escaping with heavy damage.

In response to this attack, the entirety of the GKSeK had been placed on alert status with His Imperial Majesty being briefed on the situation. At 08:30 this morning, His Imperial Majesty released a statement denouncing the attack and vowing justice. Within this statement, he stated that "The Central Ziamban Republic has been a hostile state since the destruction of Imperial Flight 2345 two weeks ago, and has done nothing but prevent an independent investigation from discovering the truth as well as throw threats to this nation and others. It has become apparent that the regime of General Ad-Idi will not respond to diplomatic resolutions, and this attack is a show of that observation. Therefore, I have authorised the forces of this empire to return the favour to a nation that has worked so tirelessly to become our enemy. From this point forward, there exists a state of war between this empire and the Democratic Central Ziamban Republic. May He bless our soldiers to a harrowing victory, and help them free those under oppression by the regime of General Ad-Idi."

Following the mobilisation order, it has been confirmed by the GKSeK that Kleinaruscha will be chosen as a staging point for further military operations within the DCZR.

Prime Minister Parker-Lizabont opens up on Foreign Affairs

Prime Minister Akaysha Parker-Lizabont has recently been rapidly expanding the Nina Island's foreign interests which began with the nation joining the United Sunalayan Assembly and working with the Layfetian government to have them sponser and draft a bill adding the Nina Islands as an associate state of the Ventismarian Union. The Nina Islands also remains part of the Rezuan Protectorate. When asked about future plans, the Prime Minister said: "Oh it is definitely time to finally let our little islands drop its shell and see the world. Sure we have been only on our own for about a year, but we have enough things wrapped up that will certainly allow us to start putting us in the international community. So far we have only two embassies in Layfet and Rezua. I want to have at least 10 more planned before the end of the year."

The Prime Minister then told the Telegraph that the 10 nations the Nina Islands wishes to open and build diplomatic relations with before the end of the year "are in the works, we have to think which nations might accept us first or will just ignore us. Our diplomatic core will need additional funding but we will find a way."

Ambassador to Rezua Xaiver Hay is leading the newly established Nina Islands Diplomatic Charter Program designed to build these relations. He will do this in addition to continued service of his post. "I'm very excited" he said. "This is an opportunity to bring Ninan and Hogganese culture to the world."

Ministette of State Kate Brunswyr took to the Ministry Press Podium this morning to address the huge escalation of the ongoing crisis in the DCZR that occurred earlier today when military aircraft from the nation attacked the Englean town of Kongsstrøm on the island of Kleinaruscha.

This revelation combined with the attack on our Englean friends late last night has prompted the National Assemblea to vote in favor of suspending all trade with the DCZR until further notice, additionally, all companies operating in the DCZR must evacuate all personnel ASAP.

At 9:00 AM this morning under orders from Her Majesty the Queen, S.I.M raided the DCZR Embassy in Astorburgh and escorted the Embassy staff and Ambassador to Astorburgh International where a plane was waiting to take them back to the DCZR. Nobody was injured during the raid. As of right now, the United Kingdom of Shastara is not going to war however, if the Kaiserreich chooses to invoke the ACCIS defensive clause then Shastara will enter the conflict. With that said the Ministry of Defence has raised military readiness to DEFCON 3."

Layfet and Capsland Reach Deal over Kiezan Troops

The Executive Chancellor praised the Layfet executive's decisiveness in expelling Kiez troops

An inter-departmental announcement from the Ministry of Defence, Foreign Office, Ministry of Transport, the Goldwyn Office and the Executive Chancellor's Office has acknowledged the recent conclusion of bilateral talks with Layfet. In the announcement, the final statements from the Capslandian negotiation's team indicate that the final agreement worked out was positive and workable.

Why were there negotiations?

The bilateral negotiations between Layfet and Capsland came about due to the grave concerns the Executive Chancellor had with the positioning of Kiezan troops in Layfet. These troops had recently been stationed to make up for defence commitments lost from Sunrisia on the island. At the current deal reached, it seems that the Royal Army will now fulfil these roles in a more precise and effective way reducing military presence on the island from a gargantuan 30,000 to 7,000.

Layfet has agreed to remove the Kiezan troops, preferring to keep close relations to Capsland at the expense of what the Layfetian executive called their "closest military alliance". The Executive Chancellor hailed the agreement as a 'new step into further integrating Layfet into the Ventismarian community'. The Kiezan ambassador to Capsland refused to comment on his personal thoughts on the Socialist Republic losing it's military presence in Layfet and potentially it's closest alliance.

This is an amazing feat for David George's administration and has served as quite the pleasant distraction from the military leak just weeks ago. What we've seen here is the Executive Chancellor telling the Ministry of Defence to flex it's muscles in front of the Layfet delegation in order to get a favourable deal.

It is clear that this is what David George wanted and will easily breeze through parliament to become law. What is interesting is David George's nonchalance when it comes to calling out the Socialist Republic of Kiez. Normally past Executive Chancellors have used very diplomatic words when it comes to calling out hostile international actors, however with the recent joint statement by David George and the President of Ophioneus and the PALS Agreement with Layfet it seems that the Executive Chancellor is becoming relentless in his attacks on the Socialist Republic.

It is no secret that Layfet and Ophioneus were some of the Socialist Republic's closest, if not only, allies but one by one David George seems to be lapping them up like a Dreaded Horseman of the Communist Apocalypse. It seems as though many took his policy of being "hardline with the Socialist Republic of Kiez" for granted and are now paying the price for underestimating David George's resolve.

It will certainly be pivotal for his administration to keep up this momentum both domestically and internationally.

It is the middle of the road for the Union Party Convention, with still two days left to go on building a party platform and potentional government that will appeal to those whom the Union Party sees as left behind by either the Capitalist Party and the Progressive Party. They offer a middle-of-the-road idea between socailism and capitalism. Thanks to the Progressive Party's declining popularity, the Union Party is also expected to see a jump in the number of seats they hold in Congress come next year. Preliminary polls suggest that even though the Executive Ministership is still up for grabs, the Union Party is safe taking Congress.

Due to this rising appeal of the party, many politcal experts have commented that the Union Party nominee is the most important nomination and will play a key role in who will win on October 27th next year and will lead Layfet come January 5th, 2021. Though eailer reports suggested that the nomination was in the hands of Former Secretary-General of the United Intelligence Network and Layfetian Statesman Olivee J. Cromwell, recent events altered his popularity.

With Layfet's entry into the Ventismarian Union and Layfet's exit from the UIN as part of the deal, Cromwell added anti-VU to his platform, an idea that the Uniom Party and the country as a whole was not on board with, which swayed many voters to give their votes to either Former Deputy Layfetian Ambassador to North Rukonia Spencer L. Hastings or Former Air Layfet CEO David N. Fujimori. After the vote was tallied and Hastings was declared the nomine receiving 51 percent of the vote to Cromwell's 48 percent and Fujimori's one percent.

Hastings took to the stand and gave a roaring speech about "returning to normality" amid promises like getting Layfet back into the United Sunalayan Assembly and releasing public corporations. She then announced that former Ambassador to the USA - Francisco Lascano-Bravo will be her Deputy Executive Minister Running mate. Despite being at the young age of 22, Hastings has quite the resume. Working at age 16 in the Layfetian Diplomatic Core, and at 17 working at the Librian Embassy in Layfet, before being assigned as Deputy Ambassador to North Rukonia at age 18. Even while still at her post, Hastings worked on other diplomatic deals including the Nina Islands Independence Deal, Layfetian Entry into the VU, CapLay Tunnel Deal, and the recent PALS aggrement.

Current polling shows that she is ahead of the Capitalist Party Ticket Benson/Morris but slightly behind a generic Progressive ticket. Once the Progressive Party holds their convention latter this year, polling can be more accurate. The Hastings/Lascano-Bravo ticket is still quite appealing and maybe key to taking away power from the Progressives.

In South Baggnagia many people are not hiding a reaction that many would deem inappropriate for reacting to a death. In Jugac and many South Baggnagian cities crowds are rejoicing publicly and celebrating the death of a tyrant. The joy can be seen and heard in military bases too among the troops. The only place that is withholding reaction is Neodvisni because of the local citizens and local military personnel being cautious towards North Baggnagia because the nation surrounds the exclave. The joy over the death of Fran Hapenic in South Baggnagia is not without a logical basis. Hapenic is seen as a leader of a neighboring state aiming to attack and take over South Baggnagia, he is seen as an architect of military provocations and clashes that have happened already and also is seen by South Baggnagians as the oppressor of fellow Baggnagian people living in the North. Additionally Fran Hapenic is seen as a man responsible for the original division of Baggnagia because of personal greed and obsession with power. As president of united Baggnagia Hapenic launched a military coup against a legitimate parliament that he was in conflict with because Hapenic wanted more power as president. Rather than being just an elected head of state the man wanted to be a national leader and a god. The theory is that Hapenic had fallen ill and disappeared from the public to undergo treatment. The other popular theory was that it may have been an inside job and that Hapenic may have been assassinated by his own Cabinet to either replace him with a fresher face or because one of his followers wanted the power for themselves and will now have it. But the agencies are also more skeptical about this theory because of how useful Hapenic was in staring the wheel and bringing benefit to everyone that was part of his regime. Additionally there was and remains a post mortem cult of personality of Hapenic that appeared to be shared not only by citizens but also by members of his regime and everyone considered a government official in North Baggnagia.

One thing the South Baggnagian Intelligence is confident about for sure. And that thing is that North Baggnagia will never reveal the cause of death of Fran Hapenic to its own people or internationally because of him being built as a divine figure that does not die like a regular human. Even now the regime’s state media hints that the successor of Fran Hapenic and subsequent leaders of North Baggnagia will be reincarnations of him in a different body. Hapenic’s passing on is something a little different from a regular death of a human being. But the South Baggnagian Intelligence says that it will be the one trying to find out the cause of death of Fran Hapenic and may even ask Sunrisian colleagues to help.

President Albinson to Fly to Artwingen for Talks With VU

With tensions heating up between the Republic and the Eikangaard United Socialist Republic, President Albinson is reportedly flying to Artwingen, Lindenholt to attend a meeting with high-ranking VU officials and heads of state. The meeting was reportedly a short-notice affair, with the final details only being discussed a few hours before the President left for Lindenholt.

Reportedly, Albinson wishes to discuss matters related to national security in response to the prospect of war with the EUSR, as well as discuss trade and other economic issues. Considering Albinson has been a strong supporter of the reduction or removal of trade restriction, it's likely that should all parties come to an agreement, that we could see a brand new market open up for the Eikan Republic.

As for the EUSR, the President would likely push for a harsher slant to major military and economic pressures already imposed by the VU on the Communist state, saying this to the Senate earlier today: "The instability of the EUSR has the potential to spiral out of control and spill over into the Republic. We will need strong international support to ensure that our national sovereignty is not threatened."

New Vesvai Increases Air Policing Of Its Own Airspace

The Vesvaian Revolutionary Air Defense Force will be increasing their presence in New Vesvai’s airspace especially those parts of the airspace that border Vesvai. VRADF will be physically increasing the number of jets to be able to cover a wide perimeter and also to deter Vesvai’s forces from trying to invade again. During the fresh incident at New Vesvai’s airspace it was proven that Vesvai is intimidated by New Vesvai having a larger number of forces. Having more forces by quantity is a strategy that the Ministry of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army and military officials have agreed on and are now following.

New Vesvai’s Minister of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Varsi Polvandet met with Prime Minister Matteas Noran and later spoke before the Parliament to promote this strategic move. Polvandet received support from the Prime Minister and from the Parliament. The Vesvaian Revolutionary Army soon followed through with the approved action. Military officials have made sure to emphasize that what the Vesvaian Revolutionary Air Defense Force is strictly for self-defense and deterrence purpose and without any intensions to threaten Vesvai.

PM Matteas Noran revealed that he has not reached out to Vesvai’s PM Jonathan Mollisal and does not intend to do so. PM Noran says that let Vesvai worry about de-escalation. PM Noran also blasted Vesvai’s Minister of National Defense and Security Robert Praesedit for falsifying the events at the border and trying to accuse New Vesvai of provocations that did not take place by using literal “fake news.” The Prime Minister declared support for the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army as a Prime Minister and citizen knowing that VRA is going to need all the moral support from New Vesvai’s citizens it can get to be strong.

Vesvai Temporarily Stations Anti-Air Missiles Near The Border With New Vesvai

The Royal Vesvaian Security Forces have just stationed anti-air missiles on the border with New Vesvai. This move comes in response to New Vesvai increasing the number of its warplanes in its own airspace and specifically close to the common border. Military officials have said that this new posture builds a risk of a hypothetical large aerial invasion into Vesvai from New Vesvai’s side. To be ready for this Vesvai had to posture its own military elements that would be ready to take on New Vesvai’s planes.

Minister of National Defense and Security Robert Praesedit met with Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal for a comprehensive meeting aimed at Vesvai’s responsive action towards the situation on the border. Praesedit informed the Prime Minister of everything that RVSF generals were proposing to do. The Minister also spoke before the Parliament. PM Mollisal and MPs approved the temporary stationing of anti-air missiles on the border that would be equipped to shoot down hostile military aircraft. The military recommended to go with an alternative action instead of mirroring the actions of New Vesvai. This would make Vesvai less predictable in its own strategy. That was the decision that was made in the end.

Minister of National Defense and Security Robert Praesedit declined to tell the journalists which nation sold these anti-air missiles that have been stationed. Praesedit said it was from an allied nation and that Vesvai would not go beyond ROVAA, the Rhodeve Commonwealth or partner states of these organizations for Vesvai’s arms trade and arms supplies. PM Mollisal said he would not be calling New Vesvai’s PM because there is no urgency right now and that the situation between the air forces has resolved itself.

Incoming Elected Government Discussing Candidates For Head Of Government Position

The parties that had won the West Zilveren general and Senate elections are successfully going through the process of forming a coalition government. At the moment, they are focusing on one final step that needs to be complete for West Zilveren Berg to finally have an elected government take over. That final step is picking the head of government, who will either hold the title of Prime Minister, like in the formerly-united Zilveren Berg before Gorm coup, or of the First Secretary in order to make sense of their leadership of the Secretariat. Naturally, each of the parties is trying to push forth their own candidate, which is slowing down the process of concluding the formation of the government. At the same time, it fortunately appears that the parties are putting the well-being of the country first rather than political ambitions. Each party is declaring that they will not be purposely stagnating the process of West Zilveren Berg finally having an elected government accede to leadership, in order to acquire the head of government position for their own candidate.
