This reminds me, I need to update my dispatch about resolution-writing so that it mentions GenSec instead of just the Mods...
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.
Author of some GA Resolutions, via Bears Armed Mission; subject of an SC resolution.

Author of issues #429, 712, 729, 934, 1120, 1152, 1474, 1521.

Ideas for General Assembly Proposals
Last Updated: April 27, 2019
Hello, there denizens of the General Assembly:

Per the agreement of several General Assembly regulars in a recent symposium, we've set up this thread to help gather ideas for potential General Assembly proposal ideas that have not been covered by existing legislation, designed to help new writers find good and manageable topics to write about, as well as to connect with existing authors to potentially work with. We encourage regulars (and others) to submit/post any ideas they haven't gotten to, and might want to hand off to others, or any interesting ideas they've been thinking of. If they're willing to work with prospective authors on a variety of topics, they should indicate as much.

Topics Proposed | Sorted by Difficulty

    Novice:
  1. Standards for international road freight (trucking) (RL e.g. CMR Convention, Schengen Agreement) - possible categories: Regulation/Safety, Free Trade
  2. Active reduction/destruction of space debris (intended supplement to GAR #349/#303) - possible categories: International Security, Regulation/Safety
  3. Replace "Access to Science in Schools"
  4. Replacement protections for war correspondents (see GAR #282)
  5. International radio communications regs (replacement of GAR #75) - possible categories: Regulation/Safety, Free Trade
  6. Abolition of debtors' prisons, rights of debtors/bankrupted persons - possible categories: Social Justice, Furtherment of Democracy
  7. Regulations for labor union agency fees (i.e. fees paid to unions by non-members who are covered by a collective bargaining contract negotiated by that union) possible categories: Regulation/Labor Rights or Adv. of Ind/Labor Deregulation, depending which way you go

    Intermediate:
  8. International Criminal Court replacement - possible categories: International Security

    Advanced:
  9. Repeal/replace GAR #302 (in progress -- United Massachusetts)

    Heroic (do not attempt):
  10. Repeal/replace NAPA ("wrong hands")
  11. Repeal/replace Rights & Duties of WA States
  12. Repeal/replace 'The Charter of Civil Rights' (for better definition of what constitutes an allowable "compelling practical purpose")

If you want to write a proposal for something mentioned here, write a proposal for something mentioned here and post it on the GA forum. You can't reserve an idea.

Hey, i'm trying to think of a proposal that deals with the use of biological weapons, landmines, or biological weapons in landmines. However, I simply do not have the time to comb through the hundreds or thousands of passed proposals at the moment. Is there something related to it which has already passed. If not for all, should I do it now or sleep first?

We have a resolution banning bioweapons and regulating landmines already.

Just a note that this can and will still be updated if people have future submissions. Looking kind of scarce for now.

There are only 466 total, and about a third of those are repeals and repealed resolutions, so around 300 extant ones, I'd say. There's also a thread on this forum with the passed resolutions in it, that can be searched with keywords.

This has nothing to do with the topic, and is threadjacking and spam. If you want to debate socialism you need to go to “General”, not General Assembly.

I have no idea if this is an IC or OOC thread so I'll keep it OOC for simplicity's sake:

I've been thinking that a proposal that works in tandem with WA General Fund to supply funding to help bring underdeveloped nations in compliance with World Assembly resolutions, as many of them cost money that these nations may not currently have.

I could definitely work on it myself, but I don't wish to overextend myself.

There's a resolution of Auralia's which does something of that sort, I'm not sure whether it is exactly the same thing or whether I'm misremembering, but it touches on a similar theme.

I would caution against providing money to developing country governments though, there is significant risk of state capture of those transfers and considerable harm to the civilian institutions and productive institutions in the country. The relevant arguments can be found, in an adequately summarised fashion, in Moyo's Dead Aid, Bueno de Mesquita's The Dictator's Handbook, and the section starting on p 450 of Aceloglu's Why Nation's Fail. If foreign aid is to mean anything in the long run, it should either be spent on building inclusive institutions, empowering broad segments of the population, or just overriding the extractive institutional structure entirely.

Hello all! I am thinking about drafting a proposal to promote Science and Technology education in WA member nations. Would any experienced drafters like to help me out? This will be my first proposal. :) :?:

Well, I don't know if you've read the OP in this thread or not, but science in schools is in fact one of the topics listed in the ideas. However, you'd note that there was a previous resolution that got repealed, so you should read that first. I'm not sure what you meant by "promote", but do remember WA resolutions are binding and have the make member nations do something.

In that case, the best thing to do is reading through the prior resolution on the topic, Access to Science in Schools, and its repeal. The next step is to post a draft on the forums and, from there, receive feedback and criticism. If I think I can help significantly, I’ll be happy to co-author a draft with you.

Any posts that I make as GenSec will be clearly marked as such and OOC. Conversely, my IC ambassador in the General Assembly is Ambassador Fortier. I’m always happy to discuss ideas about proposals, particularly if grammar or wording are in issue. I am also Executive Deputy Minister for the WA Ministry of TNP.
Kenmoria is an illiberal yet democratic nation pursuing the goals of communism in a semi-effective fashion. It has a very broad diplomatic presence despite being economically developing, mainly to seek help in recovering from the effect of a recent civil war. Read the factbook here for more information; perhaps, I will eventually finish it.

Searching for the word "repeal" in that thread shows that there are 211 resolutions that are neither repeals or repealed.

Besides, keywords can search all four hundred within seconds. An aspiring author can look up the topics of their choosing and, with about five searches, read all extant resolutions on the topic.

Well, some resolutions may help smaller nations more, but all resolutions need to be written for all nations. (Obviously as applicable, because if a nation doesn't have elections, then the election-specific resolutions don't apply to them, but if they ever start having elections,)
