National information
Official Name: Special Administrative Region of Jindao
Shortened Name: Jindao (previously Chintao)
Requested Location: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/ ... nknown.png Preferably here, if an island cannot be created there, then here https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/ ... nknown.png
Requested Population: 6,541,201
Culture: Traditional Jindanese (heavily influenced by Xiaodongese), Gaullican and Estmerish with Jindanese influences
  • Ethnicity: Jindanese (90.8%), Xiaodongese (4.2%), Gaullican (1.8%), Estmerish (1.7%), Other (0.5%)
  • Religion: Taojiao, Solarian Catholicism
  • Languages: Xiaodongese, Gaullican, Estmerish
Government Type: Devolved executive-led government within a unitary authoritarian republic
Head of State: Chief Executive Guo Zhenya
Head of Government: Chief Secretary Liao Cai
Requested GDP Per Capita: $77,361
National Overview: The island/city of Jindao has been an important trading port, fort and naval base in the Xiaodong region for centuries. Originally its own kingdom renowned for its well-equipped and experienced navy, the island was subjugated by the Tao dynasty around 1200 AD and fully incorporated into the Xiaodongese realm some twenty years later. When the Euclean powers arrived in Xiaodong, a war was fought and the port of Jindao (romanised to "Chintao" during the Euclean times) was leased as part of a peace treaty to Gaullica in 1884. The cultural effect of the Euclean presence on the island was felt immediately, with Euclean customs, traditions and religion becoming promanent on the island and replacing the traditional Jindanese and Xiaodongese culture that had once existed. After the Great War concluced in 1935, Jindao was ceded from Gaullica to Estmere as part of the peace treaty. Estmere introduced democratic reforms in Jindao in 1940, giving it its own devolved executive government in 1949. Estmere and Xiaodong signed an agreement in 1990 that stated that Estmere would return the port to Xiaodong within a five-year period so long as Xiaodong agreed to preserve the democracy on the island. The port was returned back to Xiaodong in 1995 as per the agreement under a devolved government that enjoyed high amounts of autonomy. Today Jindao acts as a special administrative region within Xiaodong and is a rich and highly-visited part of the country. With one of the highest per capita incomes in Kylaris, Jindao is extremely urbanised with one of the highest population densities on the planet.

  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Widely accepted
  • General population's view on atheism: Widely accepted
  • General population's view on abortion: Can be shaky, abortion only legal in Jindao under extreme circumstances such as rape, generally pro-life
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Jindao enjoys an inclusive society
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: No
  • View on immigration into country: Positive, immigrants often choose to settle in Jindao
  • Women's Rights: Same as men
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are legal, marijuana is technically illegal but officers are usually lax on its use

National information
Official Name: The Kituki Union of Principalities
Shortened Name: Kituk / Kituki Union / Five Principalities
Requested Location: around this area, leaving it to the map experts. Please make it large enough so that the inhabit/km² ratio is very low.
Requested Population: 14.387.120
Culture: While there are regional differences (especially between different ethnicities), Kituk has generally become happy with its mix of ethnicities and historic cultures. There is also a sort-of standard or stereotypical Kituki culture, which is basically the smallest denominator of the five: Similar instruments, religious influence, food, some works of art & literature. And, of course, whatever excites the main city of Esketin Yo'li.
  • Ethnicity: Pardarian, Turkic and Arabic in the order of how common they are.
  • Religion: Ifran
  • Languages: Standard Kituki is taught to most school children and the official language. Each Principality has its own major language and minor recognized languages, however. For their majority language, the Principalities of Katta Vodiy and Biritan talk Bivthuni, Kumush talks Kumushi and Shebbek and Keng Maydon talk their local Kituki variant, which is close to Standard Kituki.
Government Type: Federal Constitutional Quintarchy
Head of State: The five Princes: Alisher il Katta Vodiy, Gran al Kumush, Rustam bira Shebbek, Sami il Biritan, Nufail bira Keng Maydon
Head of Government: High Representative Ervin ir Indolyir
Requested GDP Per Capita: 1.430
National Overview: The Kituki Union of Principalities was not formed until the late 1800s, when the leaders of Katta Vodiy, Kumush, Shebbek, Biritan and Keng Maydon formed a union for their own defense and to better fight off foreign influence. These five regions had been culturally and historically connected for centuries, and while some of them also fought each other in wars, through most of their history they were also in (smaller and bigger) unions with one another - often formed through marriage. In 1920, the first legislature was introduced, although it barely had any functions at the time and was not democratically elected. The five Princes conducted - more or less - their own Foreign Policy until 1969, when the High Representative was introduced. The office has since taken on more duties, hand in hand with a centralization of the five Principalities. In many other facets, the five remain fiercely different from another, though. Economically, politically and even militarily (while there is a central military, there are also different militias).

The Legislative has become more democratic at the same time. Its 45 elected officials each serve a term of nine years (as does the High Representative), but they are not elected all at once. Every year, five new officials are elected (or reelected) - one for each Principality. As of now, there are 44 men and 1 woman in Parliament. 19 members align with the Workers and Peasants Faction, the other 26 with the Traditionalist Faction. These two factions were named after the Workers and Peasants Party and the Traditionalist Party respectively, although the Traditionalist Faction in particular has many members from another party; 16 to be exact. The other members belong to a different regional party (each), which aligns with the values of the Traditionalist Party.

There are many challenges for the Kituki Union: Economically, the many resources don't seem to benefit the masses much. Politically, the federal structure undermines the central authority too often. Extremism is on the rise in some areas, whereas in others the old order seems to bar any progress and is vulnerable to outside influence - especially of the monetary sort. But Kituk's High Representative has advanced its image abroad a lot - Pacifism, environmental awareness and tolerance of others is their main message to foreign countries.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Gays and lesbians aren't criminalized, but same-sex marriage does not exist and society looks down on same-sex love. This shows insofar as that same-sex 'adventures' aren't uncommon, especially among friends, but they are not talked about and it is absolutely taboo to love someone of the same sex. The unwritten rule is to marry a woman and have children. Those who don't obey that unwritten rule are often faced with isolation and violent attacks. International organizations criticized that these violent attacks are seemingly tolerated by law enforcement. There is a lot more tolerance in society for trans rights, because trans identity has played a role in Kituki society for centuries, even though they know it under a different name. Trans members of society often live a lonely life, however. Many of them move to the nation's biggest city, Esketin Yo'li, where they offer their services to strangers.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Kituki are overwhelmingly Mumin, but also retain many of their shamanistic beliefs and rituals. As such, they're also willing to extend a basic level of tolerance towards followers of other religions (who are under protection of the government anyways). However, followers of a minority religion will always find it a little harder to integrate themselves, as the Church is a major factor in rural social life. The Principality of Kumush differs from the other regions insofar as that its inhabitants are much more faithful believers and have been known for their fundamentalism. Practising another religion openly is not advised in this Principality, even shamans will often find themselves victims of attacks.
  • General population's view on atheism: It's not forbidden to be an atheist, but extremely uncommon and probably more socially isolating than being a follower of a minority religion. Not believing in a God at all is, by many, seen as worse than any belief one could have. There are no records of violence against atheists, however, which is of course partly attributed to the aforementioned rarity of atheism.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is outlawed and society views down on it. Even the loss of a child - through illness or whatever else - is viewed negatively, because it will be assumed that the mother didn't do enough for her unborn child or wasn't faithful to God.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): In rural areas, many inhabitants have never seen anyone outside their own ethnicity. These "strangers" are usually met with interest (or fear) and not violence, however.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Kituki are wary of their bigger neighbours.
  • View on immigration into country: There are few who choose to immigrate to Kituk, thus it hasn't been the matter of national debate yet. Generally, as long as the immigrants are willing to integrate themselves and show some knowledge of the Kituki society, they will be very welcome.
  • Women's Rights: While Kituk has long vowed to fight gender inequality at home, its record is more than mixed. While women are allowed to study and work, officially, the Kituki society still looks down on the women who choose to follow these new freedoms. They are expected to stay at home and serve their husband by taking care of the family and household. Many banks won't even have women as clients. Thus unsurprisingly, the executive remains a boy's club, and the legislative only has one female member itself. Therefore, change is unlikely to come through the electoral ballot soon: in four of the five states, men may vote for their wives. Positively noted should be that the Judiciary, where Justices are selected based on objective measurements, is becoming ever more female - at least in lower courts.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco usage is very common throughout all ages. Younger generations favour marihuana. Alcohol is commonly served when hosting friends, but it's not generally consumed en masse.

Other:
  • Factbook: I did the Vredlandian wiki for Kylaris.

  • RP Samples: I was in Kylaris already, so I would refer to that time.
  • RP Intentions: Both world-building and roleplay.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: If this is necessary, DM me and I'll try to compile an accurate list for you.
  • Any troubles with moderation?: I'm not that interesting, sadly.
  • Anything else?: I just randomly think all Gibraltarians are angels.

National information
Official Name: Chervolesian Council Republic
Shortened Name: Chervolesia
Requested Location: Former Eastt Coast Fed, north of Duquesne and former Moreira
Requested Population: 73,000,000
Culture: Chervolesia possesses a multiethnic and multicultural society one would expect of a post-colonial nation. Following the nation’s independence from Marolevia and subsequent syndicalist revolution, the Chervolesian government took substantial steps to promote a singular Chervolesian identity that distanced itself from its former colonial master and attempted to fully integrate the indigenous population.
  • Ethnicity: Grubalevians make up the majority of the population. Other notable minorities include Masskians, Kanseni, Minervans, !pueblo, !chinook, and other Native Asterian groups.
  • Religion: While Agnosticism/Atheism is the predominant religious following (if one could call it that), economic and social liberalisation during the late 1990s, early 2000s lifted up many of the religious restrictions in place wince the 1907 revolution. As such, Epismialism has seen a resurgence in following, with Amendists and Solarian Catholics seeing a similar trend. A neo-pagan revivalist movement has gained popularity, particularly amongst native groups, but is by no means considered “mainstream.”
  • Languages: No official language exists, however Grubalevian is considered to be the national language. Most minority languages (i.e those spoken by the groups listed above) are protected and given the same status as Grubalevian at the national level.
Government Type: Syndicalist council republic (de jure); Single-party, oligarchal maximist (tbd ideology roughly on par with Stalinism in terms of authoritarianism) republic under a military junta (de facto)
Head of State: Admiral Zinoviy Kudryashov (as Chairman of the Presidium of National Defence)
Head of Government: Same as above
Requested GDP Per Capita: $17,200 (nominal); $36,890 (PPP)
National Overview: Colonial history began in the late 1600s when the Marolevic-based East Asterian Lumber Company (name WIP) founded several logging camps in northern Chervolesia among its primordial redwood forests. As the Marolevs continued to explore and chart the would-be territory of Chervolesia, colonial settlements became more and more common and over the course of the 18th century, a steady stream of colonists would continue to pour into Chervolesia. This would last roughly until the industrial revolution hit Marolevia and Chervolesia would transition to a penal colony of sorts, with the Marolevic government exiling labour agitators, proto-marxists, unionists, and other dissidents to the colony. The colony would remain apart of Marolevia up until the Marolevic revolution and subsequent founding of the MSU. Upon achieving its independence, the country would find itself in its own syndicalist revolution. Syndicalists would emerge victorious in 1907, founding the modern day Chervolesian state. Ironically, Chervolesia would be quick to align itself with the MSU up until the fall and dissolution of the latter in 1974. In order to survive the post-MSU world, Chervolesia would undergo gradual thawing via !perestroika and !glasnost over the course of the next two decades, while switching its foreign policy from advocating for global revolution to one of staunch anti-imperialism and anti-eucleanism.

The Chervolesian government is officially a council republic. Worker’s councils form the basis of local government, with officials of these councils being elected to representory positions at the regional and national level, not unlike U.S electoral caucuses. The central government is centered around the Presidium of National Defence, a subcommittee of the larger Central Committee of the Council Republic which was, prior to the 1977 coup d’etat, the main executive body of the Chervolesian state. The ruling party is People’s Solidarity, which acts as the primus inter pares among the other centre-to-far left political parties within Chervolesia. All political parties within Chervolesia are required to join the National Front, a broad, populist coalition made up of political parties and mass political organisations.
Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: The acceptance of LGBT+ people has largely been normalised under the syndicalist government. They receive the same rights as heteros and face little to no discrimination.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Tolerant. Religious groups are closely monitored by the appropriate security agency to ensure compliance with state laws and to dissuade extremism that may arise.
  • General population's view on atheism: Excellent considering the majority of the population would be considered atheist.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion was legalised in the 1970s. Periodically talks of making it illegal once again arise but they never amount to much.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Chervolesia has thus far managed to maintain an open minded view of “alien cultures” since the revolution.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Being a socialist country, the obvious prejudices would be reactionarynism, capitalism, and imperialism. Capitalism has, to an extent, become normalised over the course of the Post-MSU era and most citizens view it somewhat favourably. The same cannot be said for reactionarynism or imperialism.
  • View on immigration into country: Being a post-colonial polity, immigration is viewed favourable
  • Women's Rights: Women were given the same rights in the immediate aftermath of revolution. Subsequent cultural campaigns (along the same lines as the New Soviet Man™) have only strengthened the social and political standing of women. In 2001, a law was passed that set a quota for women’s representation in government, and stipulated that every high-ranking political office held by a male had to have an equal office held by a woman.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, and hallucinogens are legalised and regulated. Other drugs are decriminalised but remain illegal

Other:
  • Factbook: As always, an article will be made upon acceptance
  • RP Preferences: Military/Diplomatic
  • RP Samples: I can give one if absolutely necessary
  • RP Intentions: Worldbuilding but I can be convinced to RP
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: This is my only NS account, however I have one other nation, Kadaria, located in Aeia (time will tell if it remains there).
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): I had a nation deat’d during the whole “RP regions shouldn’t be raided” thing back in 2015 for having a “political flag” as the avatar.
  • Anything else?: I have a normal work schedule now so I can actually do NS stuff in good faith.

Postby Karzaristan » Fri Jul 05, 2019 9:51 pm

National information
Official Name: The Republic of Karzaristan
Shortened Name: Karzaristan
Requested Location: (link)
Requested Population: 71.11 million, slightly less than that of Turkey
Culture: While I would have presumably been ruled by successive !Muslim dynasties for much of my history, I would generally call myself a Tajik country. However, as a majority Ahuri/Ahurayasni (Zoroastrian; I'm inventing my own variant of it) country, I would of course make significant adjustments to reflect my religious situation and the demographics of the country around me.
  • Ethnicity: The majority of the country is Tajik, with significant Pamiri, Pashtun, Hazara, Turkic, and possibly Hindustani minorities to reflect my position between Zorasan and the Hindu region to the west of me.
  • Religion: The dominant religion is Ahurayasna, though this itself would be divided into several denominations that would include various reformist movements (such as Mazdakism), cults surrounding yazatas (divinities), and syncretic religions (Manichaeism, for example). Given where I would be located, I would assume that I would also have significant Hyndi and Irfani minorities.
  • Languages: The national language would be Tajik (Persian). Regional languages would include Pamiri languages such as Wakhi, Shughni, etc, Pashtun, Hazaragi (a dialect of Persian), and several Turkic languages depending on my neighbors. Unrecognized languages might include Arabic and any of the nearby Hindustani dialects to my west.
Government Type: A multi-party Socialist state dominated by the Karzari Socialist Union governed in accordance to a form of religious (specifically Ahuri) law
Head of State: President Farhad Dashtistoni
Head of Government: General Secretary of the Consultative Council Samandar Khavari
Requested GDP Per Capita: $10,150 USD
National Overview: Karzaristan has a population of 71.11 million that is largely comprised of Tajiks, Pamiris, Pashtuns, Hazaras, Uzbeks, and Kazakhs. The national languages are Tajik and Avestan, the liturgical language of Ahurayasna. Ahurayasna is the state religion of Hisaristan and is followed by 67.5% of the population, followed by Irfan and various Ahuri cults and syncretic religions (which I have yet to determine). Although Karzaristan is officially a multi-party Socialist Democratic Republic, the Karzari Socialsit Union dominates the central government, wields significant influence over the legislature, and has been accused of sponsoring human rights abuses and the suppression of political dissent. Human rights activists have described Karzaristan as an authoritarian autocracy with limited civil rights and political freedoms. Hisaristan has a market Socialist economy and is an important producer of cotton, textiles, oil, natural gas, and hydroelectricity.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: While homosexuality is not explicitly illegal, it is largely frowned upon, especially in the conservative rural regions of the country. However, while slow, the state of LGBT+ rights in Karzaristan has been steady improving in recent years, though official recognition and protection from the government is unlikely to happen soon.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Although religious minorities are constitutionally guaranteed equal rights to all Karzaris, members of the Hyndi and Irfani communities often face discrimination and harassment.
  • General population's view on atheism: Karzaristan is heavily religious and atheism is widely frowned upon.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal, though there is wide social stigma attached to it.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Racism itself is not much of an issue, though the country's various minorities often face a lack of representation in the national government and many regional languages are marginalized on a national level in favor of Tajik.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Not at the moment but I will likely develop some as I develop my international relations more.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is generally welcomed, though immigrants outside of Coius and Badawiya would probably be rare.
  • Women's Rights: Women are constitutionally guaranteed equal rights to men and are well-represented in education and the workforce, though they still face traditional attitudes common in most former Soviet Central Asian countries.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Alcohol, tobacco, and other stimulants and intoxicants are generally legal with the exception of certain hard drugs.

  • Factbook:
  • RP Preferences: Character-driven
  • RP Samples:
Hamza couldn't help but sigh when he watched the news. 'Great. Riots. That's exactly what this country needs right now', he mumbled to himself as images of rioters smashing windows and hooligans burning flags danced across the scene. "What was that?", his roommate Danya asked, shifting his attention to Hamza.

"The riots. They're getting worse. It's starting to remind me of home.", Hamza replied sarcastically. As he turned away from the screen.

"Oh, those? I wouldn't worry about them. They're fairly normal nowadays. Whenever the Fascists get mad, they riot. Whenever the Reds get mad, they set fire to a government building."

"I don't know about that. When I came to Chokashia, I expected it to be safer than Hisaristan. I've met Pashtun terrorists who are more peaceful than these rioters.", Hamza teased as he looked at the book on Danya's lap. "Principles of Economics? I thought you were a History major."

"I am, I'm just taking Economics 101 because I want something to talk about with Natalya.", Danya said, referring to the attractive woman he and Hamza met at the Student Union building a few weeks ago.

"I don't think she chooses men based on how much they know about her major.", Hamza said with a laugh.

Danya smiled sheepishly. "What else am I supposed to do? We have nothing in common."

"My God that is the worst idea I have ever heard."

"It's not as dumb as choosing to study in Chokashia.", Danya said, grinning as he closed his book and walked over to the coat rack. "I'm off to get some groceries, is there anything you need?", he asked.

"Not really.", Hamza said, glancing at the fridge.

"Alright, see you later", Danya replied as he put on his coat and left.

Hamza returned his attention to the television, which continued to display scenes of violence with increasing urgency. With the political situation in the country continuing to deteriorate, he couldn't help but be concerned. As the son of two veterans of the ASU Invasion of Hisaristan, he had grown up hearing stories of the death and destruction of the northern reaches of his homeland by Vynozhian forces and the heroic defense of Ashrafshah by the Imperial Army and the Shurawi Mujahids. While his country had won the war against impossible odds, its consequences were still felt across the Empire. Many of his friends and relatives had lost loved ones in the war and many of the towns and villages decimated by the Vynozhians still lay in ruins.

Growing up witnessing the country's reconstruction left him with a strong desire to seek an education abroad and return to his homeland and give back to the Empire. Rejected from the Leidenese Candidacy Program and the Imperial Academy of Rakhsh, he turned to Chokashia, whose universities were among the best in the world for civil engineering. Initially optimistic about studying abroad, the political violence that raged across the country worried him. Danya's words continued to ring in his mind. 'I wouldn't worry about them. They're fairly normal nowadays.'

Hamza put his coat on and glanced at the mirror before leaving his dorm. 'Not bad', he thought to himself with a self-satisfied grin. Wearing a light black coat, warm beige pants, and a dark red scarf, if it weren't for his coffee-colored skin, curly black hair, and prominent beard, anyone could have mistaken him for a regular Chokashian. Leaving a note on the couch for Danya telling him where he was headed, he left his dorm, locked the door behind him, and headed off of the local mosque. Although Hamza wasn't as religious as many of his classmates at home, he had always made sure to attend Friday services and was an active member of his school's Muridin Students' Association.

Stepping outside of the dormitory, he was greeted by the pleasant sight of Vorsha in the spring. On account of the rainstorm that recently ran through the region, fresh drops of dew clung to the leaves of verdant trees that lined the city's streets, gleaming with sunlight as it delicately filtered through the foliage. The air was cool and humid, filled with the sound of cars playfully splashing through puddles in the afternoon traffic. As much as he missed his home, he was happy to live here. The mosque might have been far away from his house, but on most days, he didn't mind having to go across the city.

  • RP Intentions: Worldbuilding, particularly when it comes to Ahurayasna and Persian history, and roleplaying
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Hisaristan, which is in Aeia
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.):

National information
Official Name: Union of Lorcania (Ghaillish: Aontas na Lorcáinann)
Shortened Name: Lorcania (Ghaillish: Lorcáinann)
Requested Location: Here
Requested Population: 46,571,281
Culture: Lorcania has been an officially bilingual nation for over a century, with the nation split between the Ghaillophone population in Sheah (Ghaillish: Sídhe), the Estmerophone population in New Estmere (Ghaillish: Astaena Nua), and the allophone population centred in the Eastern Territory (Ghaillish: Críoch an Oirthir) lagging behind them. The coexistence of such a varied number of cultures has led to somewhat of a cultural diffusion between them, leading to a definite shared common identity. Despite this, however, the groups remain fiercely independent of one another. Thankfully for the Lorcanian state, this largely only surfaces in cultural rivalries in sports and other leisure fields. Again thanks to the great cultural diversity, Lorcania has experienced an explosion in culture and the arts, with a thriving music industry that tends to utilise lyrics from both major languages to create new, unique sounds. The allophone community includes sizable indigenous populations, as well as a large Húslerin population.
  • Ethnicity:
      Euclean descent - 73.4%
      Bahio-Lorcanian - 11.8%
      Indigenous - 5.4%
      Coian descent - 3.9%
      Other - 5.5%
  • Religion: Religious secularism and freedom of religion are protected in the country's constitution, initially introduced to alleviate fears of oppression against the Catholic minority following independence from the pious Gaullica. Amendist sects tend to trend towards the majority, with some polling putting the combined total of Amendist followers at anywhere from 50-60% of the population. As mentioned, there is a small but influential Catholic minority, largely of Ghaillish Highlander and Gaullican stock. With recent migration has come new faiths. In particular, Irfanic populations have appeared following waves of refugees during the UZIR's expansion. Additionally, there is a sizable irreligious element.
  • Languages: Estmerish and Ghaillish are the two co-official, bilingual languages. They are both federally recognised as equal in status, and all services, legally, must be provided in both tongues. In truth, it is difficult to get Estmerish service in Sheah, and Ghaillish service in New Estmere. According to the recent census, 44% of the population are considered 'Estmerophone', with Estmerish as their primary native tongue, with 39% considered 'Ghaillophone', retaining Ghaillish as their primary native tongue. Alongside these two languages, there are a number of languages which are recognised only at state level. In the ethnically diverse Eastern Territory, a number of commonwealths have indigenous languages as co-official tongues. Furthermore, the Húslerin dialect is officially recognised in a number of sub-state localities. Migrant languages, such as Xiaodongese, Marolevic and Etrurian, are also spoken in their respective communities, though they have no official recognition.
Government Type: Federal presidential constitutional republic
Head of State: President Cormac Ó Néill
Head of Government: President Cormac Ó Néill
Requested GDP Per Capita: $45,408 (PPP), $40,293 (nominal)
National Overview: Lorcania is a federation of twelve commonwealths in northwestern Asteria Superior, centred in the federal capital of Calderdon. It would be considered a liberal democracy.

Prior to contact with Euclea, the region was inhabited primarily by the Hauronian and Rakensian peoples. After Hashim ibn Ashtra opened the country up to colonisation in 1488, the kingdoms of Glytter and Estmere became the primary colonial powers in the region. Their colonies in the area would grow considerably in the following years, although in the aftermath of the Gilded Wars the entire region would be come under Gaullican control alongside the rest of the western seaboard. The local Amendist populations clashed with the new Catholic ascendancy, which helped to fuel anti-Gaullican and colonial nationalist sentiments, eventually culminating in the Kindalk Massacre in 1764 and Lorcanian involvement in the War for Independence. Following the victory of the United Colonies during the war, dreams of a pan-Asterian federation were dashed, and the northern and southern colonies went their separate ways.

The eight commonwealths of Lorcania entered into federation in 1771, ratifying a constitution by the next year. Four additional states would be admitted to the union throughout post-independence history. From the 1800s onward, the Union would engage in the Eastward Drive, in which it attempted to expand through the interior of the Asterian continent in order to obtain an eastern port. These ambitions would culminate in the Interior Wars with the other Asterian powers, and ultimately the Union would be unsuccessful in gaining a foothold in the east. Following increasing societal pressures and a powerful single-tax movement, Lorcania would experience societal upheaval throughout the 1910s, culminating in the Great Reforms of 1927, which would extend voting privileges to all and introduce a land tax across the Union. During the Great War, Lorcania engaged in armed neutrality, before eventually joining the Grand Alliance. In the post-war era, the Union engaged in a brief stand-off with syndicalist Chervolesia, before embracing a broader foreign policy.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Generally positive, though in general the more rural an area becomes the less positive this view is. In very rural localities, it is negative.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: There is a genuine sense of religious tolerance, dating back to the first days of independence. While this does afford religious freedom, in many cases this appreciation for freedom of religion does not extend outside of Sotirianity; in particular, Irfan is viewed with suspicion in a lot of rural areas.
  • General population's view on atheism: Similar to above.
  • General population's view on abortion: It is a divisive issue, and the country is believed to be divided down the middle on the issue. While it is afforded for in law, the specifics are often left to the Commonwealths.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Due to it being a multicultural society, these views are usually positive, however in rural localities there are the usual opposites to this. In Sheah there is suspicion among those who cannot speak Ghaillish, due to fears of the cultural identity of the region being lost.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Aside from Southerners and minor cases of Red and Yellow scares, not particularity.
  • View on immigration into country: Generally mixed, though majority neutral-to-positive. As a country founded on immigration, it certainly is seen to have a place. The general debate tends to be on where the immigrants in question should be from.
  • Women's Rights: Egalitarian federally since 1927. There is some variance within the commonwealths, but in general there is a sense of equality.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: The legality of substances is left up to the commonwealths. Alcohol is considered a cultural staple of most commonwealths, and so is legal in all of them. Tobacco is also legal in most due to extensive lobbying campaigns. Marijuana is legal in a growing minority of commonwealths, and a number of commonwealths have decriminialised all soft drugs.

Government Type: Federal parliamentary constitutional republic
Head of State: President Jean Tremblay
Head of Government: President Jean Tremblay
Requested GDP Per Capita: $46,000 (PPP) $41,000 (nominal)
National Overview:
Cassier is a federal parliamentary constitutional republic located in the northwestern portion of continental Asteria Superior. It is among the world's largest nations in total area though the majority of its land is comprised of vast arctic and taiga zones, rendering all but the more temperate south and coastline uninhabitable. Cassier is a highly developed liberal democracy, and ranks highly in terms of personal freedoms, quality of life, and education.

Cassier was inhabited by a various indigenous peoples for thousands of years prior to Euclean colonization. First contact between the indigenous peoples and Eucleans came in the form of explorers and fur traders. The first widespread attempts at colonization began in the 16th century with the Kingdom of Gaullica settling large swaths of Asteria Superior's northwestern coastline, bringing with them their language, culture, and religion. Cassier would be established by Gaullica as an official colony of Gaullican colonial empire in 1757, with much of Gaullica's Asterian territory being ceded to the colony. A colonial government within the context of a unicameral parliamentary system would be established, planting the seeds of democracy and self rule in Cassier very early in its history. A desire to settle the interior of the continent soon drove many Cassiens to move east, drawing Cassier into a conflict against Lorcania to the south during the Interior Wars and the myriad of native tribes. As well as securing Cassien rights to settle the interior prairies and western coastline the Cassien victory in the Interior Wars would create a new sense of identity for Cassiens, furthering the view of Cassier existing as a distinct and separate entity from the mother country. Territory gained from the wars would prove to be rich in natural resources and much needed arable land, fueling industrialization and the rapidly expanding Cassien economy of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The promise of land in the "True North", economic opportunity in major cities, and political freedoms would entice immigrants from Euclea, Coius, and other regions of Asteria to flock to Cassier in search of a better future. The rise of a true Cassien identity and other serious internal pressures in Gaullica culminated in Cassier declaring its full independence on July 1st, 1920. The 1920's and 30's would be a tumultuous time for Cassier with the Great War bringing about significant societal and political change. In the post-war world Cassier became a major player in global politics and economics, as well as becoming among the most vocal and active advocates in the protection of the democratic ideals. Cassier would seek the creation of alliances and commercial relationships with like-minded nations to ensure both the security of other free nations and itself from a catastrophe like the Great War from happening again.

Today Cassier's overall political and economic influence has declined slightly. The memory of the Great War's devastation has faded after enjoying decades of relatively constant prosperity, causing a shift towards the pressing internal issues such as the numerous disputes with Cassier's indigenous peoples and climate change. Cassier today remains among the most popular locations for business, education, and immigration. Cassier is a major exporter of raw materials, with petroleum and other fossil fuels being considered Cassier's most important resources. High tech industries, agriculture, and manufacturing also play influential roles within the Cassien economy.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Tolerant/Varies.
The rights of homosexuals and individuals considered LGBT+ are protected under federal law, and discrimination based on sexual orientation is illegal. However, more conservative and religious areas and townships will often look down upon LGBT+ individuals.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Tolerant.
The freedom to practice any religion is seen as a fundamental right, though more violent and hostile religious groups have historically been shut down in order to maintain public safety. Discrimination based on religious beliefs are illegal.
  • General population's view on atheism: Tolerant/Positive.
Atheists comprise of almost a quarter of Cassiens in terms of religious beliefs or the lack thereof. Atheists and their rights are protected under the freedom of religion.
  • General population's view on abortion: Tolerant/Varies.
Abortion is legal and tolerated in Cassier, though many such as more religious or conservative Cassiens question its morality.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Tolerant.
Discrimination based on race is illegal in Cassier, though the scars of racism can still be seen in the current situations of aboriginal Cassiens, with many tribes and individuals still dealing with the aftermath of Euclean colonization to this day.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation:
Animosity and resentment of aboriginals against Eucleans and the Cassien federal and provincial governments still plays a prominent role in domestic politics. Though progress has been made to improve this fragile relationship many feel that it is unlikely that the issue will ever be resolved in full.
  • View on immigration into country: Tolerant.
Cassier has historically been a popular location to immigrate to, and much of what constitutes Cassien culture originating from various immigrant groups. However, immigrants are also expected to understand Cassier, its laws, culture, language, and the civic responsibilities.
  • Women's Rights: Tolerant.
Women in Cassier have had the rights to vote and hold office since 1902 with federal law establishing full equality between both sexes. Discrimination based on sex is illegal in Cassier, though some divides between the status of men and women still exist on a minor scale.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Varies.
Cassier is widely accepting towards the use of drugs recreationally, though strict oversight and enforcement exists for "harder" drugs. Cassier is a proponent of rehabilitation over incarceration for addicts and substance abusers.

Other:
  • Factbook: No, but one will be constructed pending approval.

"Likewise, what you are requesting for is, simply put, is preposterous. Have you considered why the Estonians and the remaining Finns have resorted to, as you called it, "piracy and terrorism"? They have a full right to be afraid of you" he said as the Minister of Foreign Affairs next to him continued documenting the events inside the meeting room. Official Name: Irfanic People's Republic of Subarna and Pānnā | Subarṇa ō pāṇanā ēra iraphānanika gaṇaprajātantrī | সুবর্ণ ও পাণনা এর ইরফাননিক গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী
Shortened Name: Subarna
Requested Location: Next to Mathrabumi (Muktā is the island just above continental Subarna)
Requested Population: 82,034,632 (2018 estimate) (without Muktā) | 91,034,632 (2018 estimate) (with Muktā)
Culture: A mishmash of Bengali and Marathi culture with strong influences from Etruria, Odia and Assam. Since independence the country is predominantly Irfanic both in terms of religion and now culture. Irfanic conservative practices and cultural norms are widespread throughout the country.
  • Ethnicity: Subarṇan (Bengali) 49% | Marathi 14% | Odia|Oriya people 13% | Assamese people 11% | Bhojpuri people 7% | Other 6%
  • Religion: Irfanic 68% | Hindi 13% | Jain 9% | Other 10%
  • Languages: Etrurian and Bengali are the official languages as sanctioned by the state. Marathi, Odia and Assamese are recognized national languages. A myriad of other local languages and dialects exist throughout Bhazanar.
Government Type: Federal dominant-party presidential irfanic republic
Head of State: President Naseem Sarkar
Head of Government: President Naseem Sarkar
Requested GDP Per Capita: $5,324 (Nominal)
National Overview: Irfan arrived in the area of what today is Subarna in the early 11th century. Its spread was remarkably slow but the collapse of the X Empire and the subsequent dark age led to Irfan growing in popularity. By the early 15th century it was the plurality religion in Subarna. Pre-colonial history consists mainly of a few Irfanic dynasties knocking about for a few hundred years. Most of them would collapse and then Marathi monarchies would rise in their place. Those would collapse, Irfanic dynasties would rise again rinse and repeat. Subarna was originally an Etrurian colony and broke away after the fall of the Etrurian Revolutionary Republic in the aftermath of the Solarian War (obviously subject to change should Nero want something different or if that sentence was completely and utterly inaccurate). The newly independent Irfanic People's Republic of Subarna, Pānnā and Muktā quickly became a pariah of the region. The fledgling Irfanic majority country started up a heated rivalry with the Hindu majority functionalist state of Mathrabumi. In the early 1950's the first war between Subarna and Mathrabumi occurred over control of the island of Muktā. The two fought to a standstill and in 195X the government of Subarna, exhausted and politically weakened, agreed to jointly administer the region. In the 1960's Muktā held a referendum on whether to keep dual-administration or join Subarna. The movement to join Subarna was exceptionally popular and had gained much traction in no so small part due to the perceived authoritarianism of the Marathi and the islands Irfanic majority. 69% of Muktāns voted to join Subarna, causing an outrage in Mathrabumi and significantly heightening tensions between the two. Several more wars would be fought over the island province, the first of which occurred in 1982 and ended in 1987. In the modern day Subarna continues to govern significant portions of Muktā, with several smaller sections occupied by Mathrabumi. Its recognition as a Subarnan province is up in the air and many countries have failed to recognize it as a rightful province of the Subarnan state. Politically the country has been a dominant-party state since the rise of the All-Irfanic Popular Workers' Party (AJSD) during the early 1960's. In terms of foreign policy it is likely that Subarna is closely aligned with Zorasan and possibly Xiaodong.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Generally negative across the more rural areas of the country. Mixed views held in urban and suburban regions. Same-sex marriage is presently outlawed in all provinces. Subarna is rated poorly by LGBT+ rights groups and Human Rights Activist for the anti-LGBT conduct by the Subarnan government.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Religions other than Irfan are generally viewed negatively and depending on the location outright hostility. Cities tend to be more cosmopolitan and secular, which is also expanded to include more densely populated coastal regions. The rural regions are generally more conservative concerning religion and most social issues.
  • General population's view on atheism: Viewed in a worse light than other religions. Atheists aren't actively persecuted throughout the country, but for most it is best to remain quiet about their views, lest they come across ridicule and even in more zealous rural parts of the country, outright violence.
  • General population's view on abortion: Restricted barring threats to maternal life and has become of a point of contention in the political arena. Outside of the more progressive-minded cities the largely pious population of Subarna generally holds a negative view of abortion. Campaigns for its legality in major cities are often matched by campaigns to keep it illegal in the suburbs and rural communities.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Ethnic tensions exist primarily between Subarnans and Marathis. Marathi people are targeted and discriminated against in many forms by the Subarnan government, which for the most part has rewarded the other Irfanic majority ethnic groups with initiatives like affirmative action and extensive welfare programs. Marathis are the poorest of all ethnicities and their treatment is cause for concern in the international community.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Eucleans tends to be viewed as dirty imperialists and fulfill the white man bad trope. Marathi people are generally despised as zealots and backwards.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is a hotbed issue in Subarna and the immigration system favours Irfanic people and highly skilled foreign workers.
  • Women's Rights: Women's rights are generally considered better than most of the other Coian countries but are far behind standards in the Euclea and the Asterias. Irfanic influence means women are still subject to conservative religious practices and culturally misogyny and sexism are widespread. That being said women have come to occupy a number of powerful positions in Subarna and rising stars in the fields of politics, science, and economics.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: All drug substances are illegal and harsh punishments follow those who are caught using them. Tobacco and alcohol are legal and their use is taxed, but the government conducts a number of programs and ad campaigns in order drive down the prevalence of their usage.

Official Name: (What is your official nation name? For example, "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland".) The Kingdom of Eldmark
Shortened Name: (Something that most people know your nation by, something that tends to be shorter than its official name. For example, "Britain" instead of "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland".) Eldmark
Requested Location: (Please provide a map of your desired claims.)
Here.
Requested Population: (This is a preliminary number, and is only used to gauge the size you wish for your nation to be. Less than 150 million for the most part; depending on the location, the actual limit may be higher or lower. May be subject to change. Coian nations may be allowed exception to the 150 rule.) 20 Million or so.
Culture: (A brief summation of the nation's culture, language, and so forth. If it has a real-world equivalent or inspiration, be sure to list it here.) The culture of Eldmark would be Ordennyan. Given the colonial nature of the place, Zapoya and Maya, along with Black peoples will also have an impact on the culture and architecture.
  • Ethnicity: (What is the primary ethnic group of your country? What other ethnic groups are present?) Ordennyans still make up a plurality, followed by Tetuolmec, Yetzdao (!Zapotec), and Mestizo peoples.
  • Religion: (What is the dominant religion, if any, in your country? What religious minorities are present?) Primary Religion is Solarianism, though various indigenous religions exist and still thrive.
  • Languages: (What language dominates the country? Are there any other official national or regional languages? What languages are present but do not receive a special status?) The primary language is Ordennyan, though Maya and Zapoyan are considered secondary languages in some portions of the Kingdom.
Government Type: (A general classification of your nation's government type - For example, Absolute Monarchy, Single-Party State, Democratic Republic.) Constitutional Monarchy
Head of State: (In most cases, the leading diplomatic authority in the nation, in some cases the most powerful person in nations such as presidential republics.) Queen Thyri I
Head of Government: (The Head of Government is usually, though not always, the second-most powerful person in the nation. They lead the governmental apparatus as opposed to the state itself, deriving their power from, in most cases, the nation’s legislature.) Örjan Rehn
Requested GDP Per Capita: (How much money does the average citizen earn) $32,500
National Overview: (A brief summary of your nation's general history, political ideology, and society.) The Kingdom of Eldmark was at one time a colony of Ordennya, due to its prime position at the mouth of the Arucian Sea and due to the various natural resources such as timber, coffee, chocolate, among others. It was an absolute viceroyality, led by the House of Adelstrom, close relatives to the Ordennyan House of Åkesson, to whom they were only answerable to. During the dissolution of the monarchy in Ordennya, many conservative lawmakers and nobles escaped by fleeing to Eldmark and convincing the reigning leader, Ragnar II, to petition to break away from Ordennya. Fearing reprisal from the colonial workers, many of whom were sympathetic to the Liberal government, Ragnar II enacted a multitude of liberal reforms, such as a 60 hour work week, pensions for the elderly, religious toleration, a minimum wage, and indigeonous liberties such as the ability for settlements to hold communal property, by his own edict, quelling revolution and solidifying support for the monarchy. This, further appeased by an advisory council of elites technically appointed by the counties, would for the time being settle down any revolutionary fervor. This would continue to rule nearly absolutely until the 1950s, where increasing racial violence along with the demands for civil rights compelled Elianora I to establish a parliament and a constitution, with the caveat that the crown can still dissolve Parliament if “notable and credible permission” is given by the High Magistrates. So far, the crown has yet to exercise that power. The crown is also allowed to appoint 10 additional members to Parliament, who carry the powers of any MP and can introduce policies. It is described as a “hybrid” between absolute monarchy and constitutional monarchy. The eldest child of Elianora I, Thyri I, is queen. For an Asterian state, Eldmark is rather prosperous, though is marked with growing income inequality and an increasing demand for rights. The capital, Ravnkol, is also the most populous city, with a commanding presence at the edge of the Arucian Sea. Despite being a largely unitary state, one county in the interior, Yetzstad, is officially an autonomous province.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Eldmark has legalized LGBT+ marriage and has outlawed discrimination on those accounts. Conservative segments of the kingdom, of course, do not approve.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Religious toleration has been in effect since 1851. Individuals in Eldmark may have some intolerances of religions, check the prejudices section for more.
  • General population's view on atheism: Roughly 15% of Eldmark considers themselves explicitly non-religious, atheist, or agnostic. There is no intolerance of atheism in Eldmarkian society.
  • General population's view on abortion: Most people in Eldmark believe in the unfettered access to abortion up through the 2nd trimester, however the country is rather divided on whether abortion should continue to be fully legal, or be restricted to be no later than the 2nd trimester.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): While race relations have cooled down somewhat in the past years, the income inequality of the nation, predominantly on ethnic lines, with Maya and Zapoya often making up the bottom rung of the economic ladder, has threatened to reignite them. Legally speaking, race has no bearing on justice or legal matters and Eldmarkians are entitled to the same amount of rights regardless of them.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: There has been a small but present distrust of the Solarian Catholic Church, fueled by Conservatives in the 60s, as a near majority of the adherents of the religion in Eldmark identify themselves as liberal-leaning. Though the distrust has no longer been stoked by the party, some members of society still feel that way.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is primarily encouraged, however the system favors skilled workers.
  • Women's Rights: Women have the same rights afforded to men as a result of the Constitution of 1956, though some would argue the ongoing debate on abortion threatens to limit those rights.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Tobacco/Alcohol/Pot is legal, though other drugs remain illegal.

Alestrand Still Hopeful After Recovery from Hurricane Jerome

    Image
Alestrand, Eldmark: We all remember the nearly catastrophic hurricane that railed against the northern coast of Eldmark exactly one year ago today. For residents of the quaint beach town of Alestrand, the memory is far too real. While the recovery from the storm has been arduous, the town has become a case study on disaster recovery gone right. Mayor Atl Friberg met with reporters outside of the Alestrand city hall today after the latest meeting of the Chamber of Commerce to bear great news following the 12 month anniversary of the storm. "Six months ago, the building behind me was damaged nearly beyond repair, missing a roof and portions of its walls. The last year we have worked as a community to rebuild, and rebuild we have and will continue to do." The recovery has been staggeringly quick, with damaged buildings quickly being either renovated or torn down. New resorts have been built, most villas have been renovated, and restaurants have reopened to awaiting tourists from the interior.

Though remnants of the damage still remain. If one walked out to Storbrygga, two yachts, rusting, can still be seen shoved onto the jetty, their hulls now a home for seabirds. Trees still bear the mark of swept wind, and some villas are still boarded up. But above all physical damage, the damage on the community has been tangible. Out of the 113 lives lost during Hurricane Jerome, 33 of them came from Alestrand. "It has been a difficult process," one anonymous local said in an interview- "but we have come together to recover from the lives lost." A memorial has been planned for the Alestrand park, with 33 columns each with a name of those lost. For most though, returning to normalcy has been an eventual goal, one that is made easier by rising commercial revenue.

Not only are people rebuilding, some resorts have taken to rebuild with better and stronger materials. Resort owner Björn Lind stated in an interview with us that the Storstrand Resort was built with materials that caused it to collapse under the high winds, and that the new construction of the resort would use completely resistant materials. "Our new resort, built with TCK and LVKE panels, can withstand winds of up to 320 k/h, stronger than any winds any recorded hurricane can cause." The 10-acre, all-inclusive, family-friendly resort plans to reopen in January in the following year, with 400 rooms and facilities that include an oversized pool with swim-up bar and separate kids' pool with mini aqua park, five restaurants, a pizzeria, five bars, a wedding chapel, a day spa, and a casino.

It is obvious that the beach town, a microcosm of all places affected by Jerome, has made great strides, and will continue to do so in the years to come.

National information
Official Name: Republic of Nuxíca | República de Nuxic | República do Nuxíca
Shortened Name: Nuxica
Requested Location: The suggestion was roughly here, and I do mean roughly.
Requested Population: 77,895,231
Culture: Predominantly mestizo culture, but there is a great deal of variability within. The primary 'groups' of Mestizo are Euclean, !Anglo, and Bahian, given the country's history. Further influences come from Florena and Lusitana, with Etrurian and other neighboring !Anglo cultures rounding out the list. There's also a good deal of !Mayan and !Aztec symbolism, but that's mainly for whipping the pliant masses into a nationalistic fervor fondly remembering the ancient history and culture of the region.
  • Ethnicity: Mestizo of the Euclean-Native and Bahian-Native kind makes up a majority of the population, with !Anglo-Natives being largely subsumed into Euclean mestizo category. There are still firm communities of Etrurians (largely along the coast, major cities, and Mariranian-Nuxican border), Florens (coastal, major cities), Lusitans (coastal), and !Anglos (scattered throughout, but primarily the borders) that are going nowhere, as well as a growing immigrant community in general. !Mayan and !Otomi communities still exist, but they're mainly sheltered away in rural areas.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholic. That's all. But, on a more serious note, Solarian Catholicism is far and away the largest religious group in the country. A fair majority (about 60-65%) of the country identifies as Solarian Catholic. There is a great deal of non-dogmatic adherents, and Catholics in name only, within the country. Next are the 'Old Religions,' heavily moderated for the modern era (since human sacrifice atop a pyramid acropolis is a general faux pas). It's about as statistically significant as non-Christian religions but commands a great deal of cultural respect. General Protestantism is next, with every other religion making up the remaining ~10%.
  • Languages: Floren and Lusitan are the official languages of the republic, but Floren is the one used in governmental exchanges most frequently. !Yucatec Maya, !Queretaro Otomi, and Zapoyan are all national languages, but their use is limited and the designation is largely symbolic. Most other languages fail to rise to the level of national or regional recognition but may be recognized locally.
Government Type: Unitary semi-presidential (specifially president-parliamentary) parliamentary republic
Head of State: President ZACARÍAS Felipe FIGUEROA Xirau of the Moderate National Worker's Party (PON-M)
Head of Government: Prime Minister FLORENCIO Aloísio RESENDE Serra of the Moderate National Worker's Party (PON-M)
Requested GDP Per Capita: $30,531 (Will readily move if need be.)
National Overview: The history of Nuxica as a region dates back roughly 12,000 BCE when Native Asterians finally penetrated the dense jungles of the region in significant numbers and began establishing settlements within. The generally accepted 'first' organized society in the region came in the form of the Yáaxitaans, who created significant works of art and culture around 2000 BCE before logistical struggles, disease, and political infighting led to the collapse of their empire - though historians are split as to what landed the 'killing blow.' From the ashes of their empire arose the Nojochs and the Meyaletuns, who each united their spheres of influence under vast confederations. Eventually, the Nojochs were subsumed into the Meyaletun Empire, which expanded to fully encompass the region and maybe even some of the regions beyond who knows. Their dominance over the region remained unchallenged until the arrival of Euclean explorers to the region in the mid-to-late 15th Century. The arrival of Euclean explorers signaled a massive change for the region, as hundreds of thousands - if not millions - began to die of previously unseen Euclean diseases. In addition to this, bands of explorers - upon hearing about a 'great, wealthy, and heavenly realm' in the interior of the country - quickly began to undermine the Yáaxitaan imperial authority throughout the region. Through a bit of political intrigue, more than a few skirmishes, and a fracturing of the tribal alliances that make up the Yáaxitaan Empire, the region was nominally placed under the control of EUCLEAN COUNTRY* by the early-1500s. Complete and total authority remained elusive, with the coast and the interior - where the land is largely flat and useful for agriculture - being the control center for the region.

The region, by this time known as 'New EUCLEAN COUNTRY,' was predominantly used for agriculture, with cotton, some tropical fruits, sugar, and tobacco being produced with native labor as part of the encomienda system. High rates of deaths among the native population led to significant amounts of Bahian slaves to be imported into the region. Expeditions into the jungles and deserts of the interior led to the establishment of various settlements, and Solarian Catholic missionaries converted significant parts of the population. Due to the size of the region, as well as the thick, mountainous jungles and arid deserts, the overall costs of administration made the control of the region a bureaucratic nightmare for EUCLEAN COUNTRY. Tensions between the native/mestizo/Bahian population as a result of the 'Casta' system remained significant, with low-level violence relatively constant within the interior from 1705 onwards.

The Pereramonic Wars, as well as a rise of Enlightenment ideals within the upper echelons of the free mestizo population, effectively severed control of the EUCLEAN COUNTRY from the region. Revolutionaries, seeing that the overseas was preoccupied, raids from other countries on the region, as well as the revolutions occurring in neighboring regions, formed the 'Three Points' Army, freed many plantation 'workers,' and began to attempt to seize control. The Governor-General of the region requested support in the face of the massive uprising, but EUCLEAN COUNTRY was only able to send a token force to defend the region. This token force was eventually routed in a series of battles, with the remainder fleeing to OTHER PLACE by 1720. A directorial council republic was formed, the first incarnation of the independent Nuxican state since the 1500s.

The council republic period lasted 75 years, with the region becoming a confederation in 1795. The Confederation was, however, beset by issues over the level of governmental authority for the nation. In 1860 this came to a head when the federalists (predominantly in the east) attempt to secede from the rest of the nation, beginning the Nuxican Civil War. The civil war ends in a victory for forces fighting for a unitary state, ushering in a parliamentary republic. Though initially staunchly conservative and corporatist, the republic gradually liberalized and slowly drifted to the left politically. This disturbed the conservative oligarchs, aristocracy, and military of the country. Nevertheless, the parliamentary republic remained fairly stable until pre-GREAT WAR ECONOMIC DOWNTURN YEAR, when an economic collapse caused the center-left Acció Popular coalition to fragment. In order to save their beleaguered government, the AP agreed in a backroom deal to enter into a government with the anarcho-syndicalist Confederació Nacional del Treball in order to stave off a vote of no confidence. In response, the Armed Forces executed a coup d'etat in the form of the Christmas Revolution on Christmas Eve 1926 and established a military junta with Gen. Juan Sebastián García López at the head. The coup, while able to depose the civilian government, did not completely seize control of the country and forced the military to engage in urban combat with partisans. Somewhere down the line, the country may be dragged into the Great War on the side of the Grand Alliance by a neighboring country.

Civilian elections were nominally allowed in 1947, though the junta (now an 'advisory council') had the final say on who could run for elections. This led to a de-facto authoritarian one-party corporatist state known as the New Order that would last until the Dahlia Revolution in 1989, when free elections were allowed. Since then the country has grown in both population and economy under the guidance of the social democratic Moderate National Worker's Party (PON-M). It has also greatly expanded its international relations beyond the autarkic and isolationist Nou Ordre period. Discontent with the administration of the PON-M has slowly grown, however, and economic troubles, as well as a slow but gradually deteriorating security situation as a result of the Mariranan insurgency, threatens the current government's control on parliament.

*Preferably Florena

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Officially 'nontraditional' marriages are neither legal nor illegal, fitting in grey area where it hasn't been defined. Members of the LGBT+ community can go about in society as normal, but most individuals do not approve of the lifestyle. If one were to go into ultraconservative areas of the country this may escalate into physical violence or force members of the LGBT community to flee. These areas are few and far between.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Insofar as the other religion is still a denomination of Christianity, no one generally cares. Most other religions will either get frowns or weird looks. It's best not to be Irfanic.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheists are not approved of amongst the religious but can go about their day without abuse.
  • General population's view on abortion: It's legal, however, most religious individuals wish it was not.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Racial issues are not really an issue, as the nation is largely a melting pot, however, if one looked had enough one would find darker skinned Nuxicans being seen somewhat more poorly than lighter skinned Nuxicans. This is rare, though.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: There is a light and I do mean light Eucleo/Anglophobia, but this is mainly among the most hardcore nationalists. Irfanics are also seen as extremely strange and alien, but I'm not sure if this can be seen as a 'big' prejudice.
  • View on immigration into country: Skilled labor is okay, unskilled labor is somewhat meh. Immigration has become a much more contentious issue as the economy stumbles.
  • Women's Rights: Equal rights are guaranteed, but many times traditional attitudes will prevail.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are legal and regulated. Marijuana and coca are both teeeeeeechnically illegal, but they're culturally ubiquitous at this point so most look the other way. Harder drugs are not allowed, and drug wars absolutely work.

Other:
  • Factbook: Haven't made it yet, unfortunately.
  • RP Preferences: I'm open to any type, but how good at it I am is up for debate. I believe I'd particularly like political, diplomatic, and character driven.
  • RP Samples: Sample, please.
  • RP Intentions: Both
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: N/A
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Nada.
  • Anything else?: I'm pretty flexible about how I want this country to look, so if there's any issues with my application just let me know.

National information
Official Name: Crown of Temera | Koruna Ciamraja | Korona Ciemry
Shortened Name: Temera | Ciamraje | Ciemra
Requested Location: Requires minor border changes with Wazovia
Requested Population: 16,203,405
Culture: An inheritor of Marolevic and Solarian culture, Temera is a multinational country split between overlapping traditional identities and ethnic groups.
  • Ethnicity: The primary ethnic group are Temerans, speaking a Western-Solarian (Solaro-Marolevic) language that has been highly influenced by Wazovian. They include several sub-groups, including the Soddoons who speak either a dialect or separate language depending on political considerations. Other ethnic groups include Wazovians, Amathians, Gaullicans and Piraeans.
  • Religion: Western-Rite Catholicism is the primary and state religion of Temera, with the monarch being the head of the Piraean Catholic Church of Temera. Solarian Catholicism is the second largest religion, followed by Episimialism, and others.
  • Languages: The official languages of Temera are Temeran, a Solarian language highly influenced by Wazovian, and Wazovian. Gaullican is recognised as an official national language, while Amathian and Soddoon are recognised as official regional languages. Temeran also has a variety of dialects, of which Soddoon may or may not be depending on political considerations.
Government Type: Unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy
Head of State: de jure Queen Głurzana I de facto Prince-Regent Filip, Duke of Tarnov
Head of Government: Prime Minister Marzyn Izłarzany
Requested GDP Per Capita: $31,458
National Overview: Wiki page

Temera is a unitary parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy. The current monarch is Queen Głurzana I, who has reigned since 2014. Temera's capital and largest city is Rivne, a cultural hub and financial centre with an urban area population of 1.8 million. Other major cities include Leonior, Kolonia, Leblic, Montebov and Thorn

The Crown of Temera consists of five constituent nations: Temera, Brugge, Sodden, Pontar, and Vadra. Their capitals are Rivne, Leonior, Kordyn, Paryz and Thorn, respectively. The nations have their own devolved governments, each with varying powers, but such power is delegated by the Courts General of Temera, which may enact laws unilaterally altering or abolishing devolution.

Quick (and liable to change) history: Historically inhabited by Tenic peoples, part of it became part of the Solarian Empire (perhaps like Dacia), rump state acted as one of the Amathian rump states (depends on Thrace) until overrun by Marolevs migrating. Marolevic elites integrate, influence language development. Medieval period multiple kingdoms, eventually they are united via personal monarchy with Temera. Early modern potentially becomes a part of Wazovia via personal monarchy, or is a vassal of it. Modern period unsure what side of Great War it'd be on (or in what state it exists), depends on what works best. Contemporary period post-gw further reforms away from absolute monarchy into constitutional monarchy, in 2014 terrible disaster hits royal family and creates a regency (see this)

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Homosexuality was decriminalised in the 1980s, though it had been unenforced since the 1930s. There are laws restricting freedom of expression and association, however, and same-sex marriage is not legal nor recognised, though civil unions are. Transgenderism is in a legal grey area at the moment, with official gender transitioning only available in Brugge.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Temerans tend to be more tolerant to other Sotirian faiths than non-Sotirian faiths, though the relatively small and markedly urban population of non-Sotirians means that there is relatively little intolerance.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism tends to be unpopular, being associated with the MSU, with agnosticism, spiritualism and deism being the more popular and 'acceptable' currents of non-theism.
  • General population's view on abortion: Legally abortion is restricted to cases of maternal life, mental health, physical health, rape and/or fetal defects. The population's view of it is mixed, depending largely upon the age group consulted, with the younger tending to be more pro-choice
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Amicable rivalry between the Temerans and Wazovians, the former often being mistaken for the latter in other nations.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Some implicit racism to Bahians, Badawiyans and Coians but nothing major
  • View on immigration into country: Mixed, again depending largely on age-group consulted. Many younger Temerans tend to respond positively to the EC's concept of Freedom of Movement.
  • Women's Rights: Legally women are completely equal, though in terms of access to higher career roles, politics etc. they are still a minority. Several attempts to rectify this via legal methods have so far been relatively ineffective.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Tobacco is legal with a few restrictions (no underage, behind the counter etc.), as is Alcohol. Other non-medicinal drugs are criminalised and enforced.

National information
Official Name: The Democratic Republic of Dzadania
Shortened Name: Dzadania
Requested Location: Image
Requested Population: 43 million
Culture: Dzadania is a nation filled with diverse cultural and religious groups, from the majority Dzadans (NotMoldovans but with some spice) in the west and heartlands, to the minority Temerans, Amathians, and various other South Euclean groups in the east.
  • Ethnicity: 78% Dzadan, 16% Amathian, 4% Temeran, 2% other (due to trade/commerce and immigration)
  • Religion: 56% Epismialist, 24% Atheist/No Religion, 18% Solarian Catholic, 2% Other
  • Languages: Dzadan is the official state language and 90% of the population are L1 Dzadan speakers. It is the only language officially endorsed or recognized by the state. The few speakers who do not speak Dzadan as their native language usually speak Amathian or Temeran, but also are L2 Dzadan speakers. Gaullican, as the international lingua gallica, is taught in most public schools.
Government Type: Military Junta
Head of State: Marshal Koz Czimak, Chairman of the Directory of National Progress
Head of Government: De facto: Marshal Koz Czimak | De jure: Wolzak Prodi, Chairman of the Council of Workers
Requested GDP Per Capita: $19,436
National Overview: Forming as a result of tribal conquest and consolidation, the first official state of the Dzadan people is largely regarded to be the Kingdom of the Dzadans, formed sometime in the 7th century (CE?) by semi-legendary ruler Dzakoz Mikali. The Kingdom existed for sometime with little to note, most of its early history only available through sparse accounts from foreign travelers and historians. The Epismialist Churches spread the Sotirian religion to the Dzadans in the 9th century. Overtime, the Kingdom became a popular alternative destination for merchants engaged in the Euclean-Coian trade who wanted to avoid overland routes through Badawiya. Using its mercantile influence to expand and build infrastructure, rulers began using the title "King of Dzadania," effectively transforming the nation into a fully-fledged, feudal kingdom. Stagnant economies, shrinking trade opportunities as a result of external factors, and an unlucky string of crop famines placed the nation behind much of Eastern Euclea in terms of both development and economic strength, giving rise to populist and syndicalist movements.

The monarchy was eventually overthrown in 1900, two years after an inspiring revolution in Marolevia, and replaced with a populist one-party state led by Dzako Domczi, who developed relations with the Syndicalist Union. Domczi has a controversial role in most eastern media, as he successfully navigated the nation through neutrality in the Great War, but also stripped many formerly-allied socialist and syndicalist parties of their power and redistributed them to the military. When Domczi died in 1944, the Council of Workers attempted to loosen some of his restrictions and audit the military. In response, a faction of the military called the Domcziks staged a coup and placed the government under a new body, the Directory of National Progress, which many Eastern Euclean governments have labelled a junta.

While the junta openly opposed political or personal "freedoms," Marshal Takem Zaki began a program of economic liberalization and revitalization in the 1980s that has seen the state transform into more of a state capitalist system.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: In general, the population has some bias against LGBT+ people, especially Sotirian groups. There are no sodomy laws in Dzadania, but marriage is restricted to heterosexual couples. While a portion of the population supports liberalizing marriage laws, and in general the population is becoming more tolerant, it is not likely that the junta will assent.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Other forms of Sotirianity are regarded as fellow believers of the faith. A large number of atheists/nonbelievers being present, the populace is fairly open about religion, so long as influence does not rival the junta's.
  • General population's view on atheism: A large portion of the population, Council of Workers, and Junta are atheists. While they are considered a minority group, the earlier policy of state atheism under Domczi tends to prevent anyone but the truest of believers from suggesting conversion.
  • General population's view on abortion: The population in general is passively supportive on abortion with restrictions. Hardline Sotirians tend to be personally against abortion and wish the government would further restrict it or outlaw it entirely. Currently, abortions on request are available up to the 12th week of pregnancy.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Dzadans tend to stick together, but appreciate Marolevs and other NotSlavs. The general working class can be somewhat racist to immigrants and Coians.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Politically, most citizens very biased against Eastern Eucleans and those seen as actors on their behalf
  • View on immigration into country: The relaxing of economic restrictions has caused an increase in immigration. While many businessmen, government, and the few middle class citizens are tolerant, immigrants can sometimes face racism and stereotyping from some, but not all, lower class workers.
  • Women's Rights: Women have the legal equivalence to any other citizen in Dzadania. However, the entire Directory and 3/4 of the Council of Workers are men. Rape, honor killings, and other crimes against women are treated just as severely by the junta.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Tobacco and alcohol are legal to consume at 18. Marijuana is decriminalized up to 6 grams and only carries a fine. Possession of greater than 6 grams is considered intent to distribute. All other non-medical drugs are criminalized harshly by the government. Those found to be in possession with the intent to distribute may be given the death penalty, although that is usually reserved for high-level dealers, with pot dealers usually just getting a few years of imprisonment.

    The Republic of Italy
    Post 1: All is Quiet

    Florence, Italy
    November 3, 1911

The city din rumbled about usual and permeated the Palazzo Pitti, the center of Italian executive and military functions. There were many men rushing through the throughways in gray-green drab uniforms covered with medals and emblems. Today was no ordinary day. There would soon be an action that would bring war to Italy for the first time since the nation's inception. For too long had the pinnacle of Italy been withheld from the control of the Republic. For too long were the aspirations of a New Empire extinguished by the temporal assertions of monarchist and conservative radicals who wished to crush the people under their boots. The people of Rome would be liberated.

Giovanni Giolitti, President of the Republic of Italy, entered the military quarters on the wing of the palace. There, he was briefed by Field Marshal Luigi Cadorna, commander of the Regular Army. Cadorna would undertake this operation personally, as the capture of Rome would have completed the capture of the Papal States mostly done under Raffaele Cadorna, Luigi's father. Cadorna would draw upon the rest of the Active Duty Army and the Alpini Brigade to supplement the 5th Brigade of 10,000 men and 60 artillery pieces already camped outside of Rome. The 1st Alpine Infantry Regiment and the 3rd Alpine Support Battalion would add 5,000 elite troops to assist with the march on Rome. Additionally, the 2nd Regular Infantry Regiment from Naples would bring its 3,000 men and would be accompanied by the 2nd Artillery Regiment and its 40 guns from Anzio. In total, the operation would involve 17,500 field-level soldiers and around 100 artillery pieces.

While forces were being summoned and deployed, Cadorna consulted with Brigadier Douhet, commander of the Italian Air Corps. Douhet prepared four dirigibles filled with pamphlets. Floating over the city, the balloons coated the street as Romans rushed to read the papers.

    "Good People of Rome!
Now is the time to throw off the tyrants!
For too long have the despots loomed over you,
    Join the liberation!

When Italian troops enter the city,
    Join them in arms!
Until then, do not house, clothe, or feed the treacherous tyrants!"

    Image
While attempts to rally Romans against the Papal States were underway, Cadorna requested that a small naval force reinforce blockade operations on the Tiber and its mouth. The subsequent response from the Italian Navy reinforced the small armed cutters with the armored cruisers Giuseppe Garibaldi and Piemonte at the mouth, as well as three torpedo boats that sailed into the Tiber. If the minuscule Papal ships tried to run the blockade, they would be obliterated. If they tried to flee upriver, they would be crippled by artillery and boarded by Maritime Infantry. Additionally, there was an option to have the Piemonte also sail upriver and move into a position to bombard enemy positions, should resistance be thicker than expected.

    Tirana, Albania
    November 5, 1911

The Italian Embassy in Albania was flooded with new embassy workers. The Italian Foreign Ministry and its leader, Ivanoe Bonomi, were tasked with expanding Italy's influence to its neighbors. This was part of a program launched by President Giolitti to place Italy in a position to be a "Second Roman Republic." The Russians and Italians had several Balkan nations in their spheres. It was imperative to strike at the undecided Balkan factions now that the power of Austria was waning. Albania was the prime target now. Securing Albanian allegiance to Italy would secure the Adriatic's mouth into the Mediterranean, and would provide additional naval forces at disposal.

The Italian diplomats soon toured Albania, meeting with national and local officials and speaking about the natural relationship between Albanians and Italians, stretching back to the Venetians. The Italians greatly tried to increase the Albanian opinion of the Italian government by greatly complementing the Albanian government's management of its territories and showing Italy's appreciation of Albanian goods. There began a loose discussion between embassies of possible trade agreements, but such an agreement seemed far off.

    Correspondence
*Italy sends out its usual ramblings about the oppression of Aragon and its occupation of Italy's rightful lands*

    Image
    From: President Giovanni Giolitti
To: President Bethmann-Hollweg of the Republic of Germany

    Dear esteemed ally,

I first want to say that I am certain our alliance and relations could not be better. Germany has long been a faithful friend to Italy and we have assured each other's strives for democracy and equality for the people.

As for issues in the Mediterranean, I would be lying if I said I were confident in our defensive capabilities. We look to the east and see Austrians. We look to the west and see Aragonese. I am sure the Anglois are here as well. It is troubling that, should war begin, Italy would have to drag its navy into conflict with three. I am certain that, with support from Balkan nations, Austria would fall easily, but Aragon is a mighty and threatening power. It would assure me more if Italy could either host a small fleet of German ships, or purchase cruisers from Germany to bolster naval power.

I particularly have little opinion of the Holy Land. Our nation was founded by the honorable Garibaldi, who called the Catholic Church a pestilence. We are much more concerned with our liberation of Rome, which we hope to have our German brothers' full support. Perhaps it is in our interest, though, to consider action against the Mamelukes, for I fear the Aragonese solution to peace will be to place the Mamelukes under Aragonese control, which poses a great threat as you know.

I hope this letter is received well and that you are in good health.

    Sincerely, your friend,
Giovanni Giolitti, President of the Republic of Italy

To: Zihar Shaljan, Shahashan of the Dominion of the Indus and Ganges, and so forth and so forth.

    Dear renowned leader,

I wish to notify you and your counselors that the Republic of Italy wishes to come to terms with the Mughal Empire on a trade agreement. We believe that our acquisition of states on the Red Sea provides a unique opportunity for Mughal-Italian trade, and that our nations can benefit quite well. Under the terms of the agreement:

-The trade tariffs on both Mughal goods coming into Italy and Italian goods coming into the Mughal Empire will be reduced by 66% of their current value by both parties.
-Taxation of Italian investors in Mughal lands will be exempted from most currency and investment taxes.
-Italy and its industrial corporations will both encourage investments and itself invest heavily in the development of industry in northern India, focusing on ore refinement, oil refinement, and advanced mining operations in copper, lead, tin, and iron.
-Fifteen percent of the goods produced by the aforementioned industries will belong to Italy upon production.

We are very open to negotiation, and we hope this agreement can sow seeds of friendship between our nations.

    Eagerly,
Antonio Brusci, Minister of Trade and Commerce of Italy

National information
Official Name: The Republic of Qwehyong
Shortened Name: Qwehyong
Requested Location: Claim
Requested Population: 32,865,042
Culture: Mainstay culture is a form of a homogeneous society consisting of Qwehyongine. Culture sees that Qwehyongine are valued over people of other nations and races. While diversity has started to pick up, it is still very insignificant in the grand scheme of the Republic. Familial ties are seen as somewhat important, but within culture is seen as expected to break. As such, cultivation of Friendship is seen as a means of rising within society, while paying attention to family is seen as a secondary.

Tradition is mainly based that of Qwehyongine Folklore. Qwehyongine Folklore is not very extensive in its history, but maintain a set of extremely important traditions that are apparent in modern day Qwehyongine civilization, and are seen as requirements to become apart of the culture.

A divide exists within the country on diversity, as the urban areas have started to diversify slowly. Rural areas have not and many have made it clear that foreigners are not allowed/not welcomed into villages or towns.
Government Type: Semi-Presidential Single-Party Federal Republic
Head of State: President Hoàng Lưu (黃劉主舄)
Head of Government: Head of State Lý Mông (李蒙)
Requested GDP Per Capita: 6,623
National Overview: Settled initially as an agricultural town by the Đức people from now modern day Xiaodong, it has mostly remained undisturbed throughout its history. The Đức created the first recorded Qwehyongine dynastic kingdom in 3100 BC, which remained stable and resistant to foreign influence and occupation. Qwehyong, despite gaining a lot of culture from Xiaodong, did not interact with the civilization very much other than the borrowing of its language. However continual inept workings of the government caused for the support of the Dynastic Throne to falter over time and soon was replaced after the Điện Biên Phủ Riot which overthrew the Dynastic House and replaced it with an dictatorship. Qwehyong today remains a small, mostly agricultural-based nation.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Basic rights guaranteed. No family rights. The government and the population do not see LGBT Rights as an important part of the legal system and as such, do not really react to it. The LGBT life, even within the city, is very hard to really see.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Religion that is practiced that is not in line with the main religion is not seen as a problem. However traditions are expected to cross over or be superseded by native religion, especially in rural and countryside areas.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is not seen as taboo within the urban areas however within all areas, rural and urban, traditions that are apart of the native population are expected to be respected. Breaking tradition as a religious person is seen as somewhat problematic but as an atheist is considered extreme heterodoxy and can lead to being socially ostracized.
  • General population's view on abortion: It is seen as legal and okay within the general population's eyes. Not many problems arise from the practice itself.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Generally social fascination occurs with different populations in urban areas, or targeting by corporations. However in the countryside non-Qwehyongine interactions are generally hostile.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Non-Qwehyongine are normally seen as untrustworthy and not-native. Casual forms of racism in the form of stereotypes are encountered, and prioritization of Qwehyongine in terms of jobs/social inclusion/education is a problem.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is restricted, normally requiring some form of visa. Immigration is generally encouraged through air, as land immigration is extremely difficult and restricted.
  • Women's Rights: Generally Equal to Men in most areas.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco is seen as a common vice of urbanization, and alcohol is seen apart of Qwehyongine culture. Pot is seen as taboo, even in the urban areas. Any other drug is illegal.

Other:
  • Factbook: Will do at a later time.

  • Primary/Other NS Nations: N/A

National information
Official Name: The High Kingdom of Yi (Yirō: Xŭn Diyŭxisŏ tsi Yi)
Shortened Name: Yi
Requested Location: Claim but I just noticed the claim above so here is another one and another one but I am flexible so borders may be adjusted to everyone's liking.
Requested Population: 74-84 million
Culture: fictional with East-Asian influences (from Xiaodong)
  • Ethnicity: 83% Yi, 11% Xiaodong, 6% others
  • Religion: Possibly buddhism (mixed with local elements), others
  • Languages: Yirō (syllabary to be developed)
Government Type: Parliamentary democracy, constitutional monarchy with an elected head of state.
Head of State: Tĕxiú Bŭn-On (m; High King since 1997)
Head of Government: Xiie Pĭxéyŏ (m; Chief Magistrate since 2016)
Requested GDP Per Capita: $20,000
National Overview: Before 934 various tribes were living in the area, which developed into kingdoms and other states until they were subjugated under a High King in that year. The various territories remained largely autonomous and the High King was elected from amidst their leaders. Centuries followed with prosperity under strong High Kings and decline under weak ones; at certain moments Xiaodong managed to influence Yi, which brought (among other things) Buddhism to the nation. The arrival of Christianity in the 15th century caused religious civil wars until Christianity was declared illegal with the Decree of Goorangge/Ciiūwahĕ of 1600. After 1600 the High King (who seems to be elected from mostly one family from that moment on) centres power around him and the country becomes in practice an autocratic monarchy. Long protests in the 40's of the 20th century lead to the introduction of a new constitution that open up the High Kingship for commoners. (More information in the factbook)

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: It is/was a person’s duty to produce offspring (if there is overpopulation this may be a point of discussion in current times) and marriages are therefore considered to be between a man and a woman but having sex outside marriage is accepted with either gender. Having children out of wedlock is however frowned upon.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: If the other religion doesn’t cause harm, it is tolerated.
  • General population's view on atheism: Same as previous
  • General population's view on abortion: Against, unless keeping the foetus alive would cause a scandal.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There may be some discrimination but it depends on the group's history within Yi and on their prominence within a prefecture. Groups that have lived in Yi for centuries are far more accepted and enjoy far better rights than groups that arrived recently.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: None so far.
  • View on immigration into country: Yi prefer tourists over immigrants. Immigration is possible but foreigners are always treated like second rate citizens. In e.g. a legal dispute between a poor local and a rich foreigner, the poor local will win - unless a diplomatic scandal ensues but even then it is fairly hard for foreigners to get justice for themselves.
  • Women's Rights: Equal to men’s.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Smoking tobacco or drugs is allowed in designated/licenced pubs. Alcohol is allowed and legally obtainable but the consumption is frowned upon.

Other:
  • Factbook: There is a factbook here, which will be expanded.
  • RP Preferences: My ‘RP’ so far has been newspaper based: I write a newspaper with irregular intervals (depending on the amount of news other participants write) on various subjects: mostly politics and diplomacy but culture, sports, and other news items may be there as well.
  • RP Samples: Various from my other projects, including:
  • RP Intentions: Gradual development of the country using interaction (both expected and unexpected events) with other countries.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: NS: Nhoor (which carries my World Assembly membership). Other: see above
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.):

National information
Official Name: Republic of Ranvali
Shortened Name: Ranvali
Requested Location: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/ ... nknown.png
Requested Population: 20,594,726
Culture: The culture of Ranvali is mostly Gauravi (Sinhalese) with Etrurian influence from the colonial past as well as small minorities from the surrounding area.
  • Ethnicity: 85-90% Gauravi, 10-15% Other
  • Religion: 79% Satyism, 11% Sotirianity, 8% Krishinava, 2% Other
  • Languages: Gauravi (Sinhala) and Etrurian are the nationally recognised languages.
Government Type: Unitary Presidential republic
Head of State: President Tharindu Premaratne
Head of Government: President Tharindu Premaratne
Requested GDP Per Capita: $4,608
National Overview: In the present day Ranvali operates as a presidential republic with mostly successful democratic elections, however there have been cases of contested elections in the past. Prior to Etrurian control the nation was dominated by the Kingdom of Alokapura which began in the city of Alokapura in the north of the island. Over time the Kingdom had slowly taken almost complete control of the island. The country first interacted with Etrurian traders in the 14th and 15th century with trade between the two. Whilst the King was initially sceptical he eventually allowed for trading to grow seeing Alokapura become a commercial hub and a bustling port town. By the 19th century the dominance of the Kingdom of Alokapura had begun to be challenged with uprisings across the island seeing the monarchy weakened. This made it harder for the Kingdom to fight the growing Etrurian influence with many of the King's closest associates working with the Etrurians to further weaken the King and give justification for an Etrurian invasion which eventually led to the island being an Etrurian colony by the mid-19th century. The Etrurians allowed for the weak Kings to maintain their throne but their unpopularity among the general population left them with very little authority. In 1946 with Etruria's defeat in the Solarian War Ranvali was decolonised. The nation became once again known as the Kingdom of Alokapura and operated as an absolute monarchy under King Rajasinghe V during the earliest years of it's independence. However, widespread dissatisfaction with the return of the absolute monarchy seen as weak by many led to the rise of new movements challenging the King's power. In the 1952 constitution the King willingly gave up many of his powers to try and quell the anger at his reign but the newly elected parliament was composed of mostly anti-monarchy groups seeking to remove the King from power. These groups refused to serve under a government led by Rajasinghe and the King was left to rule in his own right as he refused to concede to his opponents. In 1958 the King fell ill and passed away a few weeks later from what is presumed to have been Typhoid. His son, King Bhuvanekabahu VIII, took the throne and attempted to work with the anti-monarchists but this once again led to neither party agreeing on a government formation. In 1963 King Bhuvanekabahu was assassinated under conditions that remain disputed to this day with many alleging a republican parliamentarian and future President, Priyantha Rajasekara, ordered the killing. In 1965 a new constitution was passed turning the nation into a presidential republic and changing the name 'Ranvali' meaning Sands of Gold to attempt to remove reminders of the monarchy from the national consciousness. The new republic came to be dominated by the Ranvali Republican Nationalist Union which served as a big tent party uniting factions ranging from the far-left to the right-wing. The parties right-wing faction was the more dominant of the two and quite quickly stark divisions arose with the party's left-wing attempting to seize control over the party. As a result of this the left-wing was expelled from the party in 1968 and the party's remaining members restricted their ability to spread their message and regroup. This led to the outbreak of the Ranvali Civil War in 1969. During the early years fighting took place across the nation with Alokapura being one of the only places left untouched. The fierce fighting continued until 1973 when the left-wing groups were cornered into the south of the island. These groups would maintain de facto control over the south of the island until 1984 when a peace agreement was signed allowing for the first truly competitive multi-party elections and constitutional reforms granting more power to the legislative and judicial branches to challenge the executive. The first post-war elections took place in 1986 with the Ranvali Democratic Party and the Ranvali United Workers' Party serving as the dominant political forces since then along with their various allies.

Social views:
  • General population's view on LGBT+ rights/LGBT+ people: Laws making homosexuality illegal remain on the books but have been unenforced since a ruling of the High Court in the 1990s. The general population still remains opposed to homosexuality and hate crimes are not uncommon.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Due to the religions being followed in Ranvali being a diverse group many are tolerant towards other faiths. In more religiously homogenous rural communities this may not be the case. Despite the relative tolerance Inter religious marriage is looked down upon by many. For those who convert from the faith of their birth to another they may face stigma from their communities and families.
  • General population's view on atheism: Most atheists within Ranvali choose to remain associated to the religion they were born into and so open atheists remain very uncommon. This is due to most groups stigmatising those who leave their faith.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal up until 12 weeks but is opposed by most of the population. Access to abortion services is lacking and restricted even in urban areas.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The nation is welcoming to other races and cultures especially those of Euclean origin.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: More darker skinned Ranvali's may face prejudice and be seen as being of a lesser stature. May face issues in employment and education.
  • View on immigration into country: Due to low rates of migration into the country the population does not hold particularly strong views on this.
  • Women's Rights: Women's rights in Ranvali have improved substantially in recent times. Presently 36% of the national legislature seats are held by women. The highest office in the nation ever held by a female was the office of Vice President. In addition to this literacy rates among women have improved substantially and currently sit at 92.9%, just 0.6% below the male literacy rate. Women also make up 44% of those entering higher education within Ranvali. Despite this challenges do still remain with many families holding traditional values that women should be married before leaving the household. There are also substantial issues regarding the safety of women with sexual assaults being a common issue.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are legal and common. Cannabis is illegal and uncommon outside of some more affluent urban areas. Other drugs are illegal but usage of drugs such as heroin are high comparable to other nations.

Other:
  • Factbook: Not yet made a wiki.
  • RP Preferences: Diplomatic and character based.
  • RP Samples: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=388478&p=35806052#p35806052
  • RP Intentions: I plan to both roleplay and worldbuild.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Veniasufia (main/oldest), Visargia, Juznia, Euria
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): N/A
  • Anything else?: N/A
