ANS South Star nests near the coast of Bengal. The opening of Bengali
ports now widens the military's capabilities in the Indian Ocean

DHAKA - Diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth of Australia and that of Bengal and Assam are starting off great. The two nation's diplomats and representatives met in Dhaka in Bengal and discussed about future cooperation and economic agreements.

Although no official agreements were exchanged between the two countries, several deals were made during the momentous meeting between the two countries' representatives. One such formalized deal was the selling of several military hardware by Australia's ACHEUS and TransGen Inc. companies to the Bengali Self Defense Force. The arms deal will see F/A-19 fighter jets, naval destroyers and research cooperation between major companies in Australia and Bangladesh. It is rumored that the total value of arms and vehicles being sold to Bengal will be almost close to $30.0 Billion. ACHEUS representatives assured the Bengali Defense Minister of the arrival of Bengal's brand new jets by the end of 2023, just in time for the New Year.

In other deals, the Bengali Defense Ministry spontaneously stated that Australian military forces will be allowed to station troops and gain access ports in the country, a statement that was greeted by a large applaud from the Australian contingent. With the ability to station and hold military forces in Bengal, the Australian military now has two major military bases in the Indian Ocean, with the other one being in Gwandar peninsula in Pakistan, enabling Australian ships and naval assets a faster capability to react to security threats.

With new diplomatic ties, Prime Minister Scott Morrison told that a stronger relationship will not be far off with Bengal and Assam, and that this is a huge step to maintaining peace not only in the Asia-Pacific region but also in the Indian Ocean.

The Rising Sun - 日の出

Japanese-North American ‘Joint-Cruiser Project’ Reviled

"Life is growth. If we stop growing, technically and spiritually, we are as good as dead.” - Morihei Ueshiba

3 November, 2023 -- Rising tensions and the uncertainty of real allies in the Asia-Pacific has certainly drove the Imperial Government to establish a cordial relationship elsewhere. Of course, the natural and most important being the nations of North America. Canada and Pacifica are the dominant powers of the North American realm and both are staunch naval powers. Defence Minister Hibako stated that modern cooperation between the three naval forces is quite overdue. With increasingly more advanced battlefields coming to the great naval thinkers of the three came together and envisioned the truly next-generation cruiser.

The cruiser will be capable of performing fleet missile defence against cruise and ballistic missiles as well as be the central leader in smaller surface action groups to distribute naval firepower among a variety of missions. The twilight of the aircraft carrier is not upon us yet and they do remain the undisputed flagships of the Fleet, but a 21st century navy must understand that carriers are becoming more vulnerable. The JCP will lead surface action groups to enforce naval policy and to carry out its own strikes against vulnerable enemy fortifications. To complete this mission the JCP must be well armed and it is. 60 peripheral VLS tubes of North American design are located on the vessel’s stealthy Hull with the ability to carry a versatile set of cruise and ballistic missiles. Thanks to the open architecture design of the JCP, different weapon systems can be switched in and out which leaves the vessel with considerable potential to acquire more advanced weaponry. Not to mention state of the art sensory equipment will be employed on the warship. Rumor is a separate classified project between the three powers to develop and install a next-generation BMD RADAR to complement the JCP is also underway. This is all powered by a single nuclear reactor and propelled by an integrated electric system making it a remarkably ‘clean’ warship. At roughly 23,000 tonnes and 220 meters, the JCP is one of the largest surface combatants in the world and will potentially be the world’s most advanced warship. However, potentially the most important aspect is the point defence weapons being mounted on the vessel, they’re shrouded I’m secrecy and are rumored to be laser-based.

The first class of the JCP are expected to leave the Japanese-North American dry docks in late-2024. The JCP will reportedly be export-banned to any nation outside of Japan, Canada, and Pacifica as per agreement. The Imperial Navy currently envisions a total fleet of 30 at $3.8 billion a unit, certainly not cheap. Wether or not the JCP’s price tag is worth it is ultimately up to the Imperial Navy, they say yes. The MoD has turned away any question regarding the system.

Silicon Technology Unveils New Flagship CPU
Date: November 3rd, 2023

Silicon Technologies, more commonly known as SilTech, has recently unveiled it's new flagship processor, the SilTech p8-2024, in the recent Silicon City Technology & Engineering Convention. This revelation comes after a six-year hiatus in which the company was slow to release new innovative products compared to their main competitors. Each new generation of processors was hardly an upgrade from previous generations compared to their competitors and it was assumed that the company had gone under. However, according to a company insiders, SilTech was in fact quite operational and that they had spent the last six years developing what they consider to be the world's most advanced yet affordable desktop processor. SilTech claims that the p8-2024 will have a whopping 10-cores (20-threads) and will have a base-clock speed of 4.3 GHz, which when utilizing their turbo-percision boost technology, can be boosted up to 5.0 GHz. All currently released specifications can be found on following graph:

Image
~ Oversized graph image provided by SilTech™

The processor is part of SilTech's new "Jupiter" micro-architecture, and will feature new and improved Simultaneous multi-threading technology as well as more advanced and efficient virtualization technology. It also features more advanced and efficient thermal-cooling capabilities, preventing it from overheating when under heavy load. Siltech stated that the Jupiter processors will also feature other "advanced features", but that these features will be revealed gradually until release. SilTech states that the p8-2024 is only the first in this new series, and they are currently developing variants that will be compatible with Laptops and other operating systems, such as EurOS. SilTech representatives have stated in interviews that they are currently in development of other Jupiter processors. They have stated that they are currently in development of allegedly the worlds first affordable 8-core mobile processor for smartphones. They are also in development of more budget-friendly desktop processors that will be released around April of 2024, ranging in prices of $150 to $300 and are also in development of Jupiter workstation, laptop, and even console processors and are hoping to release these models by May of 2024. In all, the Jupiter processors will range in having 6 to 44 cores. The 44-core workstation processor, known as "Project Z" is most likely not going to be released until 2025, and insiders have stated that the price of that monster will most likely range from $1,800 to $2,000.

The p8-2024 will be shipping out on March 17th, 2024, and will have a base price of $385, making it the best CPU relative to the price on the market.

Full transcript of Palveiro's Galicia speech

My fellow citizens. At this hour, Portuguese and allied forces are in the early stages of military operations to eradicate the rogue government of Galicia, to free its people and to defend Portuguese sovereignty and European stability from grave danger.

As I report to you, air attacks are underway against military targets in Galicia. We are determined to knock out all potential that can cause harm. We will destroy all facilities of evil. Much of Galicia's artillery and tanks will be destroyed. Our operations are designed to best protect the lives of all the coalition forces by targeting Galicia's vast military arsenal. Initial reports from our great generals are that our operations are proceeding according to plan.

Some may ask: Why?

Make no mistake -- this is not about Chico Manquinho. This is not about politics. This is about an obstruction of justice. This is about Galicia's disregard for our rule of law. This is about the threat Galicia poses to Portuguese sovereignty with their mobilization, an immediate threat that needs to be suppressed before they can cause harm. We have no choice and we will not fail.

Prior to ordering our forces into battle, I instructed our military commanders to take every necessary step to prevail as quickly as possible, and with the greatest degree of protection possible for Portuguese and allied service men and women. Our troops will have the best possible support in the entire world, and they will not be asked to fight with one hand tied behind their back. I'm hopeful that this fighting will not go on for long and that casualties will be held to an absolute minimum.

No President can easily commit our sons and daughters to war. They are the Nation's finest. Ours is an a formidable force, magnificently trained, highly motivated. The troops know why they're there. Every nation in this coalition has chosen to bear the duty and share the honor of serving in our common defense. To all the men and women of our armed forces now in Galicia, the peace of a concerning state and the future of a people forced to share poverty now depend on you. That trust is well placed.

Our nation enters this conflict reluctantly, yet our purpose is sure. The people of Portugal and our friends and allies will not live at the mercy of an influenced outlier regime that threatens our peace. We will meet that threat now with our army, air force, navy, coastguard and marines so that we do not have to meet it later with armies of firefighters and police and doctors on the streets of our cities. Now that conflict has come, the only way to limit its duration is to apply decisive force and I assure you this will not be a campaign of half measures and we will accept no outcome but victory.

In this conflict Portugal faces an enemy that has no regard for the rule of law and decisively has undermined our sovereignty. I want all Portuguese and all the world to know that coalition forces will make every effort to spare innocent civilians from harm. A campaign on a country we have a shared history with could be long and more difficult than some predict and helping Galicians achieve a united, stable and free country will require our sustained commitment.

We come to Galicia with respect for its citizens, for their shared founding history with us. We have no ambition in Galicia except to remove the threat of its rogue government.

I know that the families of our military are praying that all those who serve will return safely and soon. Millions of Portuguese are praying with you for the safety of your loved ones and for the protection of the innocent. For your sacrifice you have the gratitude and respect of the Portuguese people and you can know that our forces will be coming home as soon as their work is done.

My fellow citizens, the dangers to our country and our continent will be overcome. We will pass through this time of peril and carry on the work of peace. We will defend our freedom. We will bring freedom to others and we will prevail.

May God bless Portugal and all who defend her.

France declares neutrality

The French Seventh Republic and the Overseas Dominions of the Confederation declare full neutrality in the Galician armed situation. The nation will honor commitments to try and intercept ICBMs should they be fired at the European continent as their targets cannot be determined to not be within our territory until moments before detonation, but that will be all. Should South America attempt to launch ICBMs France will react negatively, but short of that the Republic shall likely remain neutral unless the situation on the Iberian Peninsula deteriorates beyond all control. The Confederation military in Algeria, Mauritania, PSAN, and Southern France are all put on their highest alert level, however reassurances are given to all bordering countries that this is defensive only.

Hong Kong protests reach 1,000,000 participants

Image

With the vocal support of Prime Minister Itai of Bengal and Assam, protest in Hong Kong have exploded with participants. With protesters reaching 1,000,000 members this week. The city has begun to struggle with the numbers as local police have become heavily outnumbered. Police from Shenzhen have been called into the city, but are still struggle with the numbers. Foreign Nationals have also flown into the city and joined the protest, notably Bengali citizens who state they were moved to act with PM Itai's statements. Nanjing currently sits at the crossroads of either putting down the protests by force, or allowing Hong Kong to be continuously a thorn in the Republic's side. Many officials wan't to put the protests down after a state official was attacked and beaten into a coma in "retaliation" to a protester dying in police custody last week.

State Healthcare to be implemented next week

Image

The Liberal-Socialist Party of China has finally completed one of their announced goals form the election. Against the wants of the N-KMT, the Legislative Yuan has passed the National Health and Care act. The new law places all hospitals and medical centers under the control of the Republic Government. With the new state ran healthcare places most of the Chinese healthcare system under state control, it still allows for private care clinics ran by insurance companies to stay privatized. Outside of this clause the bill now gives all Chinese citizens the assurance of always having access to healthcare no matter their status. The healthcare system will now be ran under the newly formed National Heath and Social Service Department.

While the amount has been kept behind closed doors, it is believed that all three branches will be expanded or re-fit with more advanced equipment. The state ran Norinco corporation and CASC as also been suposedly expanding their research with modern foreign designs. The government has also stated that their first Atomic Weapon has been successfully tested. With a yield of 20kt and utilizing uranium-235 it is the first successful Asian nuclear test. THE END OF UNIVERSAL MILITARY EDUCATION

Up until their entry into the FSR, all the current members of the Federation had active conscription in one way or another. While conscription was done away, a similar system existed through the Universal Military Education, which required all able-bodied citizens to receive basic military training during their student years. Many decried the system as being a waste of the defense budget, and a remnant of old cold-war era paranoia. However, the Communist Party has managed to secure that the UME will continue to live on in some form, albeit no longer mandatory. Rather, local branches of the Young Pioneers will be able to decide whether they wish to host similar programs using their own budgetary funds. In the wake of the Galician War, the Morales administration has also approved a 5.3% increase for the defense budget to come into effect in the next fiscal budget, which would give the Federation Armed Forces a budget of $2.212 trillion Ameros ($316 billion NAD). This was followed by news of plans to station the 4th Infantry Division in Kongo Central, as well as a permanent air transport fleet within the SRC.

THE FEDERATION IN THE WORLD CUP

While both Orostan and Andea are part of the same country, they are fielding different teams in the world cup. Andea will be facing San Martinia in the Round of 48, and the Zackrothian African Territory will be fighting the Orostanis. The San Martinian team is amongst the best in the world and longtime rivals of the Andeans, but optimism is high after the Andean team won a miraculous victory in the Group of Death in the last World Cup. The Andean team has been training quite a bit in anticipation for the World Cup and has shown promise in various friendlies against the Orostanis. Soon the Andeans will also be traveling to Barcelona to play several matches against the Iberian team. The Orostani-Zackrothian game is set to be a very political game, with a major Football television network's social media account at one point recommending that Orostani fans prepare for a riot regardless of the outcome of the game. The Orostani team has been training especially often since the announcement that they would be facing a Zackrothian team.

SUPPLY AND DEMAND

International observers have noted that the Mexican and Central American sugar industry has met much success as of late, with increasing sales and production. With the FSR being the top producer of sugar, this has put them in direct competition with their northern brethren. In turn, the FSR seeking to increase exports to countries such as China, Spain, and Britain, and even Pacifica. Such competition is not limited just to sugar but also to other commodities, namely coffee. Though recently potatoes have been a thing as well, with the NIB announcing record potato exports with the ongoing potato peeling contest. But supply and demand is not just limited to sugar and potatoes. And in fact, Brasilia recently announced that it had secured a contract to build two aircraft carriers for the Chinese Navy.

PEOPLE'S ASSEMBLY GRANTS ESA NEW POWERS

Environmentalists celebrated the passing of several new bills which greatly increased the authority of the Environmental Service Agency. The bills enjoyed a degree of multipartisan support, particularly from the Socialist Party and the Green Front which voted overwhelmingly in favor of the new measures. The Socialist Party most often struggles with support for their economic and political agendas. This move taken by the Socialists is taken as the start of a project to garner some much-needed support in the Orostani industrial regions and elsewhere. The ESA has stated that its immediate goals are to create strict standards for the handling of industrial waste and speeding up the retirement of older machinery to reduce factory pollution, goals which the NIB has agreed to cooperate with.

THE RIO DE LA PLATA INCIDENT

Recently a cargo ship departing from Uraguay collided into a yacht from San Martinia. It's believed that the incident occurred due to negligent seafaring by the yacht's pilot by Orostani authorities, though the yacht's owner claims the incident was the fault of the Orostani crew. San Martinian politicians proposed creating a binational safety committee which would regulate activity in the Rio of the Plata to prevent similar accidents in the future, with some support from Orostan. Though there exists significant support for this in Uruguay, the FSR and especially Orostan are very reluctant to trust San Martinia especially with recent events in Europe. Despite that, President Morales stated that he would be open to creating such a committee to prevent such accidents from happening again in the future.

Your Weekly Update:

Galicia Conflict: Just recently, Portugal and Germany began an assault on the Puertollanoan puppet state of Galicia, with the intent to "liberate it." Shortly after, France declared official neutrality in the armed dispute. San Martinia has quickly followed suit, claiming that the conflict does not involve the nation and that it will not get involved. Many were quick to point out that it was likely just an extension of the FSR-Europe Cold War, and that San Martinia should distance itself as far as possible.

Río de la Plata Safety Commission: Some in the government have begun calling for a binational safety commission in the Río de la Plata to prevent incidents like the one that occurred recently, wherein a cargo ship collided with and destroyed a yacht. After some favorable response from the FSR, the idea gained more traction and the government officially opened negotiations on the matter. Soon after, the two governments agreed on the creation of the committee for better public safety in the area.

Diana Gonzalez Kidnapping in Balabac: Diana Gonzalez, a Balabac Islands resident of San Martinian descent and an outspoken critic of the current Australian government was recently kidnapped and has still not been found. Despite lack of evidence, many in San Martinia seem to believe that the kidnapping was part of an Australian government program to remove local opposition in Balabac, pointing to the recent August 25 protests and ensuing tensions as proof. While no politician has come to support this commonly called "conspiracy theory," it remains prominent in national thought. Due to this incident and the previous tensions, many in the population have called for the San Martinian government to encourage San Martinian expats to return to the nation to "escape the violent conditions."

New Supranational Organization: Representatives from San Martinia, the Caribbean Federation, and the Federal Republic of Central America recently met to discuss the creation of an organization for the geopolitical region known as Latin America. Called "The Community of Democratic Latin American and Caribbean States," or CEDLAC for short, the organization's goals would be "political cooperation among the governments of member countries, the promotion of the best function and coordination of Latin American organizations, cooperation on solutions for problems that affect the region, the improvement of inter-American relations, and new fields of cooperation that favor economic, social, scientific and technological development." In short, it is aimed at encouraging cooperation and dialogue between these states.

CALLS FOR LIBERATION

RIGA - The Soviet Union supports freedom for the people of Galicia announced Aleksandr Dibrov delivering his speech before the city council in the Latvian SSR. As part of his business visit to check the construction of industrial projects near Riga, the President also talked about the situation in Galicia. Although the tensions between Germany, Portugal and the Soviet Union are still high following the recent series of disagreements between the countries, Kremlin continues to critisize what it deems as Puertollanan meddling in the European affairs. Aleksandr Dibrov promised that his administation is willing to do everything necessary to support Galicia against Castillo's yoke and prevent the spread of communist dictatorships in Europe.

Diplomats meet in Dhaka, Defense and cooperation deal with The Land Down Under

By Foreign Correspondent,Nishina Fukune

Image
Australian and Bengali diplomats after the meeting at the Australian Consulate in Dhaka

Prime Minister Itai yesterday got a deal with Australia approved through the National Assembly, and today, representatives of Australia and Bengal met in Dhaka, the former capital of the country to reach an agreement to benefit both countries.

A huge weapons deal, rumored to be around 30 billion dollar was reached with Australia, with 15 of Australia’s latest and most advanced fighters the F/A-19 ending up in the hands of the Air Self-Defense Force, as well as an unspecified number of naval vessels currently under construction in Australia will be slowly begin their service as Bengal Defense Ships, with 5 ships being delivered every quarter of the year.

A more controversial, yet interesting deal reached between the two delegations was the stationing of Australian military personnel, numbering 5000 in specified Self-Defense Force bases in Bengal. This is the first time a foreign military force was stationed in Bengal. However, its widely believed that they are stationed there to scare the increasingly saber-rattling Japanese off, as well as for Australia to project its power upon the Asian mainland, and the Indian Ocean

The Triumvirate declares neutrality in Galician conflict

Today the Roman Senate voted 397-203 in favour of declaring neutrality in the rapidly unfolding Galician conflict. Pro-neutrality Senators achieved a majority of 97, significantly lower than expected. This is thought to be due to the Senates war hawks undertaking a strong opposition to declaring neutrality and managing to persuade many Senators who were on the fence. Despite this, the Senate still

voted in favour of neutrality.

Current leader of the Senate, Makis Voridis (Representative for Athens XI), made a speech following the vote, presenting the declaration of neutrality document to the Senate and officially signing it off in view of the entire Senate, the first time this has ever occurred. The declaration of neutrality means that the URT will not involve itself in the Galician conflict, however the Senate did conform that it does not stop any nations of the URT from indirectly involving themselves in the Galician conflict in non-military ways such as via financial support, however there have been no announcements by any national governments of the URT of any intent to get involved in the conflict in a non-military manner.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte of Italy has praised the Roman Senate for its swift actions in declaring neutrality, so as not to provide any nations involved in the Galician conflict with reason to threaten the Triumvirate in any way. Despite the declaration of neutrality the militaries of the URT are still in a state of heightened alert due to the conflict being located on the European continent, with concerns over the possible use of ICBM's during the conflict, which would likely be automatically targeted by missile defence systems in the Triumvirate due to the inability to determine whether or not the missiles are heading for anywhere in the URT or to the conflict zone until too late a stage in the missiles journey. Despite this manual overrides mean that no issues should arise, but it has been warned that it is not entirely impossible for missile defence systems to be triggered by the conflict.

The Galicia Problem

The budding conflict in Galicia is a world away's from Zackaroth but it has tore open a a cultural divide that has been building since the Form High Leader Akram took the seat. In the ZAC, the only known Puertollano and Zackarothian duel citizens protested against the Portugal and German invasion of the state. They held picture of both Lusophone and German leaders with the words "MURDERERS" and "IMPERIALISTS" on it. Some want a Zackarothian intervention in the war, while many want to go to Galicia and fight. This protest has been echoed in Zackaroth proper. Budding anti-Portgual sentiment has finally erupted. Many see the nation as an anti-Arabic and anti-Muslim state as dangerous and holding outdated and wrong misconceptions about them. Some where also not happy that Zackaroth was seemingly snubbed during its leader's world tour and attempt to prove its non-bias

This has lead to the ZBP to witness a surge in popularity, a year before the next election. Rising through the political ranks is Akram's own son, Yusri el-Akram. Yusri has been extremely vocal in investigating his father's sudden illness that left the former High Leader in a medically induced coma that persists to this day. He has also been vocal about Zackarothian taking a more neutral position in the world and condemning Europe for the same things it condemns the FSR for. On the topic of Galicia, he outright called Sara Palveiro a "tin pot dictator" who only exists because Europe finds her convenient at holding South America at bay. He also said that Europe would have "dealt" with Portugal by now if that wasn't the case, referencing the sudden rise in Fascism in Europe and the resulting war a few years ago. He never stated he would be for full intervention into Galicia but hinted at it. Germany has also come in his speeches and its been made clear that like his father, Yursi has no love for the country. "Giving them Biological Weapons was like giving a baby a gun. Dangerous and stupid. We where just lucky they couldn't figure out the on button"

However, counter protests also exist and these are just as heated. Many disagreed with Akram's choice to improve relations with Puterollano, claiming it hurt their relationship with a much more important ally. Persia, and that Puertollano was complicit in the murder of thousands of Zackarothian during the Orostan-Zackarothian exchange. While they have no love for Portugal or Germany, they have an intense hate for South America. One anonymous member said " Orostan wants to genocide the Zackarothians. Castillo would gladly push us into the oven while shaking our hands". They also say Zackaroth has no busniess in involving itself in European affairs. They point to the costly and bloody war in the Balkans. Zackaroth was the only country that sent troops and it lead to a year worth of fighting until the rest of Europe mobilized and finally brought an end to the war. However, it should be known, it was current High Leader Shepard Abdullah who launched the mission to the Balkans.

The High Leader himself has made no comment at all. Instead he is mulling over what to do with the Puterollano-Zackarothian citizens who want to fight in the war. Zackaroth does not allow it citizens to join foreign armies unless under special circumstances. Nothing is stopping the duel citizens from leaving and joining but they would loose their Zackarothian citizenship and possibly all they have worked for as joining a foreign army is considered treason and grounds for termination of citizenship at the very least.

The Death of a Pope

Image
The last known photo taken of Pope Francis.
News of another death sweeps across the world as Pope Francis has reportedly been killed as a result of a fatal automobile crash on his way to Vienna to crown the young Nicole von Habsburg-Lorraine. Near the town of Badgastein, Metropolitan Austria, the "Pope Mobile" was hit while turning a corner on a mountain road by a drunk driver. The Pope's vehicle, which was driving on the lane closest to the mountain's edge, then toppled down a steep cliff and erupted in flames at the mountain's base. The Pope, his personal staff on board (including the driver) all died as a result of the vehicles descent, their bodies burning post-mortem. The drunk driver, identified as fifty-three year old Leopold Neumann, also perished as he was not wearing a seat-belt at the time of the accident.

The most prestigious Intelligence Agency in the Triumvirate was called to the scene as top Mirai operatives flew from Athens for investigation. Along with local Austro-Danubian authorities, it was shortly concluded that the accident involved no foul play, except the "...continued proof that something needs to be done about [the Austro-Danubian Empire's] alcohol epidemic."

The bodies of all who where in the "Pope Mobile" have been identified and sent to a morgue hospital in Rome for further examination.

Catholics are sure to mourn in nations everywhere as the Vatican takes over funeral ceremonies and the election of the next Pope. Many across the Austro-Danubian Empire are dubbing this final quarter of the year 2023 as "A Time of Dying," as so many prominent figures are meeting their final demise.

An Imperial Ascension

Image
Moments before coronation.
Despite many set-backs and the the death of one of the most prominent European figures days prior, an aura of spectacle and awe presented itself in Vienna as fourteen-year-old Nicole von Habsburg-Lorraine's coronation had finally arrived. Officials from across the Empire and the greater Triumvirate clambered in a crowded banquet hall in the Viennese seat of Habsburg power, Schönbrunn Palace. The seats and tables were arranged in a "U," all surrounding a simple throne in which the Princess sat in. The press gathered in the room's four corners to record the event for all of Europe (and the world for that matter) to see.

After opening statements provided by Proconsuls Jonathon Müller and Lukas Birschoffshausen, the Princess rose from her small throne. Clad in a simple and modest black dress and slightly trembling under the pressure of the circumstance she slowly made her way to the seat of Edmund von Grau, acting Regent and a good friend of the late Emperor Martin. A simple tiara rest in his hands, that of Nicole's aunt and namesake. With no Pope to crown the Princess, Nicole gently took the tiara from his hands. She walked back to her throne and turned to face her Empire. The entirety of the Empire held its breathe as she placed the tiara onto her head, formally crowning herself as Empress Nicole II of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine. The room, in unison, let out the phrase "Long may she reign," and opened up in an applause that could be heard across in every street, mountain, prairie, and alley throughout the Empire. The Empress raised her right hand into the air after a few seconds of clapping, just as her father had to restore the peace in a room he was in. A silence was cast in the room once more.

Empress Nicole II, her voice nervous and shaky, then began her first public address to the people of the Austro-Danubian Empire which has been transcribed below.

Brothers and sisters, citizens of the Empire. Never once had it occurred to me, until I actually sat here on finite chair of marble and old oak, that I would one day take up the title I was born to become. I'll be honest to you as you are my family now: the only thing that has pushed me through what I am feeling in regards to my beloved father's death and the massive responsibility that has fallen upon me is the knowledge that the thoughts and prayers of all my peoples are with me. You, from every corner of this Empire, where Moai stand on Easter Island, to where the rocks of Earth reach into the heavens in Metropolitan Austria, to where ocean of wheat give way to the Black Sea in Romania, were united to support me in a task so grand that no mortal could ever be prepared to take up its mantle.

This day and this title which I have acquired go beyond me, into a thousand years of history and triumphs and mistakes. This chair behind me is material, this tiara of simple metals, but what it represents is something much greater than that, much greater than any of us. They do not represent my power. They do not represent any divine right for me to be your guide. The only thing that keeps me here is your faith in me, a faith which I will do all in my power to not let down.

I have but one promise to make to you all. I will continue to do as my father has before me and protect you. All Austrian and Danubian peoples, wherever they may be, shall be protected with me as their shield, and the Triumvirate behind me as their sworn allies. I mean this more than ever as war threatens to rip Europe apart once again.

May God bless all of you, and may all of you watch over my reign through a critical and objective lens.

The rule of Empress Nicole II von Habsburg-Lorraine has officially begun, and it is uncertain as to what it shall bring. One thing is certain, however, for immediately after her coronation ceremony she took up duties in her Imperial Office and has released that she will be acting in concordance to recent European affairs within the fortnight. Arrangements are underway for her to meet with foreign leaders critical to the safety of the Empire as well.

Requiescat In Pace, Long Live the New Empress!

Image

On October 11th, 2023, The Austro-Danubian Emperor Martin von Habsburg-Lorraine closed his eyes, never to open them again. Emperor Martin was the victim of an assassination, a product of high treason amongst the ranks of his Imperial Guard. The ADE sources link the assassination to the notorious Iron Guard, whose extremist views and ruthless methods earned the organisation many despisers and enemies across the ADE and the URT.

It is rumoured that the Fregantese Empress Léone Martine Fregantes has fainted and remained unconscious for two hours upon hearing the gruesome assassination. While Her Highness has been receiving medical treatment, His Excellency the Chancellor Jacques-Martin Fleuchaim gave a press statement on October 13th, condemning the murder and offering his condolences to the ADE.

”I stand before you, not as a chancellor or a politician but as a concerned and grieving human being. Emperor Martin was a visionary politician, an able ruler, a sublime diplomat and a person of high intellectual calibre. All of these traits, we respect enormously in our nation. It was Emperor Martin who gave the Austro-Danubia a new face, a proud reputation and who transformed it into a confident nation.

We, the Fregantese people, will never forget the deeds of this exceptional ruler to our north, nor will we ever forgive the minds behind this treacherous act. All lands under the sun, not just the ADE, must be cleansed of political violence and acts of terrorism, these pains we most unfortunately are accustomed to. I offer my condolences to the entire ADE, the Imperial Family as a whole, and Emperor Martin’s heir, Princess Nicole. We stand beside you.”

On October 15th, the heir to the Austro-Danubian Imperial Throne, Nicole II von Habsburg-Lorraine, was crowned Empress in the Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna. Although not present due to her medical conditions, the Fregantese Empress gave a few remarks about the coronation:

”I am confident of her abilities, and I am sure she will have the necessary means to rule effectively and efficiently both within herself and within her immediate surroundings thanks to the able government the late Emperor left to her.

I am also fully aware of the huge responsibility she will have to shoulder, both in terms of administrating an empire and advancing a very long tradition. I am fully committed to supporting her in any way I can, and I will certainly visit her in Vienna once I get better.”

The Pope is Dead

Image

The day when Princess Nicole was coronated as Empress, another shocking loss of life shake the URT and the world: the Pope has died in a car crash. The accident happened near Badgastein, at a mountain road. The Papal vehicle is said to have erupted in flames after falling down off the cliff due to the crash.

The initial Austrian police reports indicate a coincidental car crash including severe usage of alcohol by the crashing driver, who equally lost their life. Upon the ADE’s request, operatives of the Mirai, the Fregantese Intelligence Service, were dispatched from Athens and Preveza to Vienna.

The operatives, in collaboration with the Austrian police, have came to the conclusion that the accident involves no suspicious elements, except for a prominent remark to the problem of driving drunk in the ADE. All the bodies and the related evidence were then sent to Rome for further examination, and the Mirai operatives also flew to Rome, with the directive to interrogate every single prominent cardinal in the Vatican to determine the possibility of an assassination and ascertain all the details regarding the untimely death of the Pontifex Maximus.

While the Mirai operatives continue their investigation, the Vatican is preparing itself for the upcoming elections for the new Pope just after holding a communion to honour the deceased Pope Francis. The Vatican isn’t left alone in its grieving, however, as the Ecumenical Metropolitan Patriarchy of Athens offered condolences in the name of the entire Orthodox Church.

The Senate Confirms the Decision of the Curia Julia

Image

Just recently, the rising tensions in Iberia finally erupted and inevitably led to a declaration of war by Portugal upon Galicia. Immediately upon the start of hostilities, the Germanic Union announced its support for the Portuguese cause, and joined in “to liberate the European people of Galicia”.

The war was in no way a surprise, nor a pleasant incident. Many terror attacks in Portugal, especially in the northern regions such as Bragança, were linked to a group of far-left extremists organisations within the nation, supported by Galicia. Already a rouge state and a sign of disgrace in the eyes of the European community, Galicia haven’t found a single supportive voice from the DEU, with most members praising the Portuguese initiative.

Despite the public support for the Portuguese operations, many DEU nations (such as France) are declaring neutrality or offering exclusively material support. This lack of total involvement is the reason why many in the FE don’t see this as an extension of the Transatlantic Cold War, but more of a regional conflict.

Nevertheless, the Senate of the Roman Triumvirate voted to remain neutral with a majority of 97 votes. The Fregantese Senate in Athens, showing the fanatical love of peace in the nation, confirmed and ratified the decision taken by the Curia Julia, with the 2/3 of the Senate voting for neutrality. The Speaker of the Senate Acallia Pandaros openly congratulated the Athenian leader of the Curia Julia, Makis Voridis, claiming that he “upheld the peaceful values of Athens and the entire URT brilliantly”.

As such, the Fregantes Empire will not be involved in the war as a belligerent and will not aid any side with material and/or financial resources. The citizens of Athens flocked to the streets, and a united cry was heard: “Paix Pour Nous!

Mikado attends Mass to honor late Pope Francis’s life in Point Elizabeth Catholic Diocese in Minato. Congratulates new Austro-Danubian Empress

Event Correspondent, Cheung-Lee Steven

Image
The Mikado giving the speech.

Today, after the news of the death of His Excellency Pope Francis due to a car crash on his way to crown the new Austro-Danubian Empress Nicole von Habsburg-Lorraine reached the Apostolic Nunciature in Minato, the Kawanese Catholic Church asked the Catholic community of Bengal to observe a week of mourning, and held a large mass at Point Elizabeth Catholic Diocese, inviting important figures as well as members of the Catholic community.

After the mass was completed, important figures such as Archbishop Kitahara and others gave their eulogies regarding the late Pope’s life. But the speech that went through everyone’s hearts and minds was that of the Mikado.

The Pope has served for the betterment of the whole world, rather than only his community. He was a beacon of hope, unity and progressiveness. Unlike those before him, he encouraged improving ourselves in whatever way we can, rather than sticking to religious teachings. He truly brought God close to the people. I hope that the next Pope carries on his ideals

She then continued on to congratulate the new Empress of the Austro-Danubian Empire

Over the past few days, Her Highness, the now Empress Nicole Hasburg-Lorraine has surely went through a lot. I listened to her speech, and saw that regardless of the loss of her beloved father, the former Emperor, she hopes to continue on the legacy of her father. She is surely someone who all of us should look up to

The Mikado’s short speech became one of the most viewed videos on FChan overnight, with praise coming from all aspects of Bengali society

I wish that your ISP cuts off your internet. Even though its true that the Mikado was born into this position. She was trained throughout her life to be a capable leader. She was also a flight captain in the Air Self Defense Force, and will also go to fight a war along with our soldiers if necessary...

Presenting Pacifica to the outside world since 2009

Arizona to be Unleashed Upon the World Cup
Date: November 20th, 2023

In a controversial choice, the central government has decided not to form a national Pacifican soccer team. Instead, the central government has decided to appoint the National Soccer Team of Arizona (NSTA) as Pacifica's representative at the world cup. The NSTA is one of Pacifica's most fiercest and experienced soccer team and perhaps sports team in general. In an ironic twist of things, Arizonan regionalist pride may benefit the entire United Republics.

Prior to the 2018 WorldCup, the United Republics hastily constructed a national soccer team that would compete; however, it was because of this hasty construction of a sports team that inevitably lead Pacifica's defeat, as it had little time to prepare and practice. Up until that point, Pacificans on average did not have too much interest in soccer or other traditional sports. That is not to say that these sports did not exist within the country, they did. In fact every few years the members of the United Republics hold an unofficial sports competition in which the national sport teams of each individual Republic compete with each-other. Throughout competition year, the Republic's compete in almost every traditional sport, from soccer to baseball. The intent of this was to mainly encourage interaction amongst the individuals of each Republic and to also encourage friendly-competition as a means to express potential internal rivalries. These competitions gained some traction over the years and did develop a substantial following (mainly among younger audiences), but overall the general public were disinterested. Pacifican's on average do not like internal competitions, especially ones that pit Republics against other Republics, it brings back bad memories of a time that Pacifican's do not like be reminded of. Thus, because of this disinterest in even subnational sporting events, Pacifican sport teams on an international level aren't the most experienced. Pacifica's most experienced teams tend to be on a very local level, such as University teams.

However, the 2018 WorldCup caused Pacifican's to become more interested in soccer, especially on an international level. It also showed that Pacifica is grossly under prepared for international sporting events, and it was only then that it was realized that sports is taken a lot more seriously throughout the world. Pacifican's have been taught to act as representatives of our entire society on the international stage, thus the defeat of the Pacifican team to that of the Polish reflected on all of Pacifica. This caused a boom the soccer sporting industry, as public investments from local governments began to fund their soccer teams, and compete more often. More soccer competitions were held throughout 2019 and 2020, with the first centrally condoned national soccer competition being held in 2021 (sometimes called PacifiCup). However, as time went on public interest began to die down and the soccer fervor retracted. A recent government report showed that most of Pacifica's soccer teams were under-maintained relative to other FUNA members. There was however, one soccer team that was an exception.

Arizonans in general are the exception to the norm. Even before the 2018 soccer fervor, Arizonans tended to be the majority of those who payed attention to subnational sporting competitions, and actively trained their sports team. Arizonans do not just want to defeat every other Republic in sports, they want to decimate them with overwhelming firepower. Arizona has won most pre-2018 sub-national competitions and won most post-2018 competitions and even won the PacifiCup. While most Pacifican's tend to calmly support their teams, Arizonans tend to wave flags everywhere, specifically U.C.I.S flags. Many Arizonans have stated that while they personally do not support Separatism, waving the U.C.I.S flag is mainly done to add insult to injury and is "mainly a meme". Arizona's bloodlust in sports stems from it's turbulent history with the rest of the United Republics.

Lets go back the Pacifican Civil War, when looking at the conflict it's easy to see the main factions: Federalists vs. Opposition. However, there was a third sometimes overlooked faction that existed, that being the Separatists. After the Federalists withdrew from California in an attempt to fortify the so-called 'Frontier Union', the other Western states of the former Western Coalition were left to fend for themselves. Arizona, Utah, and Colorado-Wyoming had to stabilize themselves and also push back Opposition incursions all without Federal aid. These states would push the opposition out of Nevada and portions of Southern California, mainly due to the effort of the Arizonan military and developed a sense of independence. The Federalists ignored the Separatists, because Separatists were only interested in border maintenance, not expansion like the Opposition. After the Civil War ended, California and the Frontier Union unified under the Federalist's government and formed the Federal Republic of Pacifica, claiming to be the evolution of the Western Coalitions government. The Separatists however weren't interested and under the leadership of Arizona, formed the United Coalition of Independence States (U.C.I.S). The U.C.I.S still held territory outside of it's jurisdiction, with key cities such as San Diego still under Arizonan occupation. Suffice it to say, in 1998 the Western Continuation War broke out and the U.C.I.S eventually collapsed with the defection of Utah (now Deseret) and the subsequent 1999 invasion of Arizona. Arizona would be de-jure placed within the Republic of Deseret, however it was de-facto under Federal occupation. The occupation ended in 2009 and Arizonans today are still advocating for autonomy from Deseret.

Arizonans hold a lot of hostilities towards the rest of Pacifica, and while Arizonans now accept their place in the U.R, they seem to vent out their societal anger towards the rest of Pacifica via sports. 'They may have lost the war, but they will win in sports', as they saying goes. Arizonans also like to retain a sorta antithesis culture to that of Pacifica, Pacifican's are disinterested in sports, Arizonans are not, and this pattern continues on in many other aspects (but not every aspect). This has lead to many negative-stereotypes forming around Arizonans and they are often viewed with distrust. In fact, this why some question the central government decision to have the Arizonan soccer team represent the entire U.R, since some speculate that they will sabotage themselves to hurt Pacifica's reputation. However, this is unlikely to the be case. Arizonans representing the entire U.R in the international stage and preforming well would not only increase Arizona's standing in the U.R, but also it will improve their standing internationally. Thus, this could potentially lead to a change of attitude towards Arizona and it's people and perhaps even increase the likelihood of autonomy from Deseret. As the coach of the NSTA put it,

If my team can win Pacifica the WorldCup, they will have no more excuses in denying us membership as an equal Republic of the U.R

The NSTA is Pacifica's best soccer team, hence the primary reason for being chosen. According to them, they train as though they are playing against professionals. Again, as a means to not just defeat the under-trained Pacifican teams, but to decimate them. Now that they are in the public spotlight, they might just train harder than ever before. Their entire regions reputation is on the line internally, they have the potential of undoing decades of social tension between Arizona and the rest country. Funny how in a society that preaches irrelevance towards sports, it might just be due to sports that the country might be able to heal one it's deepest wounds of the past that still remains today. Even if the NSTA do not win, which considering their competition can be quite possible, Arizona's reputation might just improve anyway depending on their performance.

Maritime Self-Defense Force intercepts a number of Imperial Japanese Navy vessels in Bengali Territorial Waters. PM briefs nation

By Kantei Junior Correspondent, Masako Mori

Image

Today an emergency press session was called at the Kantei, the Prime Minister’s office and residence. Defense Minister Kye Young-Su has informed us that the Maritime Self-Defense Force has intercepted an unspecified number of Imperial Japanese Navy ships in Bengali territorial waters, and also the claimed maritime territory of Andoushima. He told us that the ships were escorted out of Bengali territory, and no armed conflict between the Japanese and the Kawanese navies took place.

However, the Prime Minister gave an almost different message. She told reporters that this may send a provocative message to the Japanese authorities in Tokyo. Relations between Tokyo and Minato have been in freefall since the recent elections where anti Japanese Liberal Democrat Party won the elections. The Prime Minister also said that she believes that those ships are spy ships, sent from Tokyo to spy on Bengali military and civilian targets along the Bay.

She proceeded on to say that there is nothing to panic as of now, for diplomats in Tokyo will try to resolve the issue with the Japanese government.

Unrest in Balabac, thousands involved in protests and riots

Seriously over-extended, the Balabac Island Police are considering
asking for military assistance from the Army

BALABAC CITY -Almost a week since the reported kidnapping of a local Balabac woman, investigators and search and rescue parties are still hard to find her. However, several thousands of people all across the Latino majority population southern districts of Balabac are protesting outright against the Australia, accusing the federal government of its supposed involvement in the kidnapping.

Unrest ensued after an article revealed that the CCTV footage of the night of Diana’s kidnapping showed that the men that kidnapped Diana Gonzalez actually wore uniforms that bore the insignia of the Australian Army was posted in an anonymous personal account on Facebook. The article’s story quickly spread and hundreds of people began to form large crowds in front of local Balabac government institution buildings, demanding answers.

The Australian Army and government denied any involvement in the kidnapping. However, the footage when reviewed did clearly show men dressed in military gear and equipped with rifles, weapons which can only be issued to police or military personnel in the island.

Albeit a clear response that the Australian government was not involved, many people are still adamant that Australia did indeed have a hand in the kidnapping, with many people siding with a popular theory that the kidnappers were actually Australian special forces from the concluded New Dawn 2025exercises and that the intended target was Shayne Ramos, a popular opposition leader to the Australian-Balabac government.

Several protests did not turn to be peaceful as many parts of Balabac saw protestors engaging police in a pushing match or throwing rocks or Molotov cocktails. The Balabac Island Police reported that a total of 500 police officers have been injured, while the number of injured protestors is still unknown.

The search for Diana Gonzalez is still in progress in spite of the nearby unrest and chaos plaguing the island. Investigators have already been able to locate the black FUSO truck that was used as the kidnap vehicle, and have started to collect possible pieces of evidence from the truck including fingerprints, DNA specimens and more. Numerous witnesses have also come forward and the investigation has said that it will only be a matter of time.

AusGroup hits milestone $2.5T value

AusGroup's dominance in Australia continues as the group hits the $2.5T mark
SYDNEY -Investors of Australian Group of Corporations (AusGroup) companies are expected to be in high spirits after the group reached a record-breaking $2.5 T total market value in the Sydney Stock Exchange.

Although AusGroup in actuality is just an organization created by several major and minor Australian companies such as TransGen Inc, Helios III, and ACHEUS, to ease business and encourage investment for small and large companies, the term AusGroup has steadily become a layman’s term for a large Australian company that basically produces everything in Australia, from huge ships and planes to furniture and children’s toys.

After reaching a $2.5T total market value, AusGroup companies so far control no less than 70% of the total Australian GDP and about 2/3 of all Australian products and items are made directly or indirectly by and AusGroup corporation. Even after the government slowly withdrew subsidies to AusGroup corporations in early 2020, AusGroup has been able to effectively seek investments from foreign and local investors through AusGroup Fund.

However, the dominance of AusGroup corporations is being feared by economists due to the fact that AusGroup now commands a huge monopoly of the Australian market and many smaller brands and start-ups that are not part of AusGroup are having a huge time trying to squeeze into the Australian market.

Australian Navy to buy 500 Saildrones to existing fleets
November 20,2023 | Arthur Cranpim

Three Saildrones of the Navy docked in Hobart Military Base.
Saildrones can be used for both military and scientific duties

HOBART -The Australian Navy has reportedly signed a new acquisition deal for 500 Saildrones with ACHEUS, military officials disclosed in a media press conference at Hobart Military Base.

The Australian Navy put through the order after the recent opening of Bengali ports to Australian Navy ships. With a new large area of water, the Bay of Bengal opened as a new area for naval operations, the current number of Saildrones, is not enough to cover a huge area. The interception of Japanese vessels in the area by Bengali naval ships can be added as another reason the Australian Navy is buying more Saildrones.

Aside from serving as reconnaissance drones for the military, these Saildrones also help meteorologists and scientists understand and predict weather patterns in the bodies of water that they are patrolling on.

The Navy has not disclosed the whereabouts of its’ Saildrones locations although recent deployments suggest that the Saildrones are patrolling the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, parts of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean and Black Seas. The navy is estimated to have 3,000 to 3,500 Saildrones.

The Results of the Senate's Abortion Vote

Image
30/10/2023 - 18:45 Clarin.com | Politics |

San Martinia’s society has been gripped by the Abortion Bill that was recently voted on in the Senate. This bill would’ve legalized abortions up to fourteen weeks into the pregnancy, an extension from previous laws which restricted abortion only to cases of rape or danger to the mother’s life.

This bill would’ve made San Martinia the most progressive nation in Latin America in the topic, a position the nation holds on other topics, like LGBT rights. However, the issue has been uniquely polarizing to many. San Martinian society has been sharply divided, and not along party lines, as abortion rights has been a dividing issue even within party bases.

Unsurprisingly, religious opposition to the bill was widespread, mostly from Catholic and Evangelical churches. Their counterparts were mostly feminist movements, stemming from the anti-gender violence group Ni Una Menos. Both groups led nationwide protests concurrently as the Senate in the capital debated the bill. Near five million people are estimated to have shown up to protest.

Prior to the debate in the Senate, it was already clear that the vote would be close. Fifty-three Senators came out in opposition, while forty-nine declared their support. That left only eleven Senators who would change their vote could change based on the debates they hear in the chamber. Debates, however, were ferocious, totaling eighteen hours. Many said the atmosphere was extremely tense as the chamber voted.

Six of the swing voters voted in support of the bill, with five against. However, this was not enough for the bill to be pushed through, as that left fifty-eight against to fifty-five for. The bill failed.

Pro-life protesters across the nation cheered as the news broke, while their pro-choice counterparts consoled each other in dismay. Catholic Church officials were quick to congratulate the Senators who cast the deciding votes, commending their commitment to “saving the lives of unborn children.”

Feminist groups, on the other hand, have downplayed the loss. They say that the fact that the bill even came to a vote in either chamber of the National Assembly, much less passed in the Chamber of Deputies, marked a turning point in San Martinia for the issue. The close vote showed passion and support to them, and there is clear intention to reintroduce the bill as soon as possible, next year. They are quick to say that "the fight is not over." Clearly they are not just referring to abortion rights in San Martinia but in Latin America as a whole, as many had hoped the passing of the bill would result in a ripple effect in the region. While that did not come to pass, the hope is still there.

PM Conte visits Rome Airshow to commemorate launch of new range of drones by Leonardo

Today Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte visited the Rome Airshow to commemorate Leonardo's launch of its largest ever range of drones. The Prime Minister was invited by Leonardo CEO, Alessandro Profumo, who is a personal friend of the Prime Minister. Whilst at the airshow the Prime Minister gave a speech at the Leonardo stand, stating that "This new range of drones is uniquely diverse and covers both surveillance drones and attack drones, in all sizes from only several hundred kilograms to over 10 tonnes. Whilst the Dassault nEUROn will remain the airforces primary offensive drone, the Ministry of Defence has set aside several billion aureus' for the procurement of this new range of drones, which will serve as the airforces primary surveillance drones while the offensive drones will serve as secondary assets to the nEUROn but will still see just as much action."

A representative from Leonardo explained that "Everything is designed in-house by Leonardo, from the aircraft themselves to the sensor suite, mission system and ground control stations." And said that due to this, all expenditure by the Ministry of Defence on Leonardo's new range of drones would be supporting Italian jobs and Italian industry, making it a lucrative prospect for the government.

Despite the fanfare at Rome Airshow around Leonardo's new high-tech range of drones, some in the government, particularly opposition politicians, have criticised Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte's close relationship with Leonardo CEO Alessandro Profumo and say that their friendship may have influenced the MoD's decision to make such a huge multi-billion aureus purchase. But to counter this anti-corruption officials have said that the decision to commit budgeted money to certain procurements sits solely with the Ministry of Defence and its procurement panel, which consists of military experts, generals, admirals, accountants and is chaired by the Minister of Defence, who is currently former PM Mariastella Gelmini. This means that Prime Minister Conte's relationship with Alessandro Profumo would not have impacted the decision to procure the new drones enough to warrant any form of corruption.

Prime Minister voices concern regarding Hong Kong

By PA Correspondent, Hayakami Izumi

Hong Kongers "reclaims" legislature. A mock vote was held by the occupiers, declaring return to British rule.

After the recent violence in Hong Kong, where the city's so-called Legislative Council was besieged by angry protesters who want for Britain to resume sovereignty over Hong Kong, Prime Minister Itai has voiced concerns regarding the behavior of the protesters.

Hong Kong was a British colony until 1997, and under British administration, it enjoyed prosperity unparalleled to the rest of Mainland China, and was dubbed by many as the Pearl of the Orient. However, after return to Chinese rule in 1997, Hong Kong's status has spiraled downwards, with it now mostly been seen as a n average Chinese city, in a shadow of it's former glorious self.
The people of Hong Kong clearly understands this, and therefore, the majority of them wants the resumption of British sovereignty over the territory.

After support from Prime Minister Itai of Bengal, as well as the overseas Hong Kong diaspora, Hong Kongers have taken the streets in protests that dwarf that of the 2014 Umbrella Movement. However, as the rule of law degrades, and the Army from the Mainland is being deployed to handle the angry protesters, the situation in Hong Kong has turned undesirable.

Last night, protesters broke into the Legislative Council of the city, vandalizing government property in the process. Prime Minister Itai has released a public statement sometime after news reached Minato of this incident.

I am all for the demands of the Hong Kongers, and ask the Chinese government to honor what the people of Hong Kong want, rather than sucking up to national pride and ignoring 7 million people. However, I do not agree with the methods employed by the protesters. Violence will never be a solution. This is a movement that must be fought through patience and peace.

Back here in the country, rocks have been thrown into the compound of the Chinese Embassy by the local Hong Kong diaspora. They were cleared away soon by the police. However, this is believed to be a stain in Sino-Bengali relations for days to come. The Minister of Foreign Affairs claims to have apologised to the staff of the Chinese Embassy personally, after a visit to the embassy the day following the incident

Palveiro isn't the only one benefiting from her war that she refuses to acknowledge.

LISBOA -- The Palveiro administration is continuously refusing to refer to it's military action in Galicia as a 'war' (which is what it is) and insists that it's military operations are only "extended military engagements."

The language so far from President Sara Palveiro's government has careful, seeing as the President doesn't actually have powers to declare war, only Parliament. The decision to dodged Parliament's involvement has raised questions of why the executive branch would even want to dodge Parliament, where it has a majority and now a coalition with the Os Conservadores strengthening it's abilities.

Leaks from senior aides suggest that the administration is worried that an actual declaration of war from Parliament could divide their newfound conservative superpower. (The Os Conservadores are the notorious war-hawks, while the Frente Nacional has been historically anti-war with jingoistic tendencies.) Oh, and that it might trigger a constitutional crisis, code for impeachment talks.

How did we get here?
In almost every single year of Sara Palveiro's first term, she has been historically unpopular, with polling just two years ago showing majority of Portuguese disliking like the way the first female is running the country. Now however, as she launches military operations in Galicia, she is enjoying a 71% approval rating, a figure that has steadily risen as the election continues to get underway. But isn't she unpopular? Yes, she was.

Three years ago, when Palveiro's approval ratings hit a historically low 12.3%, many pundits noted that the only thing that could get Palveiro out of this slump is a war. Wars have a way of pulling a country together, with everyone scrambling to line up behind their leader. It seems she may have taken this note to heart.

There have been plenty of presidents that the nation has disagreed on their policies. But Palveiro is another matter. Even with her positive approval rating now, many Portuguese are still afraid of 'Sara Baracuda' -- and presidential wanna-be's are also taking note.

After months of relative stability, the Left Coalition's presidential race is in the midst of a major shake-up.
MPs Oluwakemi 'Kemi' Taliscas and Tulsi Gama are on the rise — while former President Marcelo de Sousa and his former Foreign Secretary-turned opponent Eira Vento, who have been in first and second place for most of the year, have seen their positions worsen in recent polls. To be clear: Sousa remains the leader in every recent poll. But the size of that lead on average is no longer as impressive as it’s been — and in a few polls, it’s gotten quite small indeed, raising questions about just how solid the frontrunner’s position is.

Vento, meanwhile, has lost her position as the one major alternative to Sousa. The MP's support level in polls has dropped significantly since the early months of the year and has remained stagnant for the past two months while Gama and Taliscas have surged. On average, that trio of candidates is now about tied for second place.

Seven week remain until the Left Coalition chooses it's nominee. The big question for the race right now, though, is whether this slump is a temporary setback for Sousa — or whether it’s the start of his campaign’s collapse.

It’s now clear: Sousa is a weak frontrunner
For a few short weeks after Sousa officially entered the presidential race, it looked like he could easily put this whole thing away. Since then, he has been in first place in every single national and early-district poll. He leads in battleground districts. And he leads among voters of all races and ethnicities.

All of this is in fact still true, even after five debates. But there have long been doubts within the Left Coalition (Coalizão Esquerda) about Sousa’s campaign — about whether he had grown out of touch with a changing left-wing electorate, about his longtime tendency to speak in a way that causes problems for him, and about his age and his ability to withstand the rigors of the election trail. Accordingly, as measured by endorsements, Sousa’s support within the Coalition hasn’t been resounding.

The first debate exacerbated all those doubts, particularly when Taliscas criticized Sousa for his older positions on civil rights. But it’s the post-debate polls that have really set off alarm bells in Sousa-world. On average, Sousa is at 27 percent nationally, per LusoPolls. Even before the debate, he’d declined 9 points from his commanding-looking 41 percent peak. In the few days after it, he’s fallen another 5 points. And though some polls continued to show Sousa leading his next-closest rival by double digits, a Publico national poll showed him ahead of Taliscas by just 5, and a later poll showed him ahead of her by just 2. So the race has gotten closer.

Eira Vento’s support actually dropped two months ago
Another candidate having a tough time of late is Eira Vento. The former Foreign Secretary to Marcelo de Sousa had long seemed a natural contender for the nomination this time around, and her call for a “fight” made a sharp contrast to Sousa’s more establishment-friendly campaign.

Interestingly however, most of Vento’s decline was not around the time of Gama and Taliscas’s rise, but rather before that — around the time of Sousa’s announcement and large polling bump. As mentioned above, this announcement bump for Sousa has since eroded, so we might have expected Vento’s polling position to recover too. But it hasn’t. Vento has remained stuck in the mid- to high teens in national polls (whereas her peak was at 24 percent). Sousa’s recent woes have benefited not Vento but instead Taliscas and now Gama. And since Vento hasn’t grown her support, she’s now battling with those two for second place.

Both Taliscas and Gama have risen — Taliscas’ rise may be dangerous to Sousa, but Gama too?
Finally, after months in which the race could basically be summarized as “Sousa, Vento, and the rest,” two other contenders have clearly joined the top tier: Kemi Taliscas and Tulsi Gama.

Particularly interesting is Taliscas’s improving support among both colored voters — again, LusoPolls shows her getting 27 percent there, just 4 points behind Sousa, a major change. Strong margins among black voters were crucial to Sousa's first term victory — and could be key to deny him a second non-consecutive term.

“At the moment, Taliscas is putting together a Sousa-like coalition of white college grads + non-white Portuguese,” Publico tweeted. And that may be a more troubling development for Sousa making her a serious threat to the frontrunner indeed.

Gama is seen as the left's Palveiro
Among some conservative pundits there continues to be clear winner of the primary debates: Tulsi Gama, the long-shot, anti-war MP.

More than any other Coalition candidate, Gama has developed a favorable presence in the right-wing media. She’s made appearances from time to time on right-wing talk shows, and her unorthodox candidacy has attracted praise from those farther to the right as well. Gama has been controversial; she has apologized for holding anti-gay views in the past, including onstage on three of the debates, and she has been heavily criticized for sometimes siding with Palveiro's policies. But at the most recent debate, she appeared to cement her status as the very online right’s favorite Coalition candidate.

For some on the right, the sole draw of Gama is her anti-interventionist worldview, which appeals to some of the Frente Nacional. A pundit said “For Tulsi the only real appeal I see is on the foreign policy side. She’s a grounded and committed non-interventionist unlike Palveiro, she appeals to some corners of the populist right.”

Political analysts have also pointed out that Gama’s almost singular focus on foreign policy and anti-interventionism means she talks about social issues less than the other candidates, making her easier to accept for those on the right. “Some also appreciate that she’s not obsessed or doesn’t seem to be obsessed with identity politics.”

She’s been on Palveiro-world’s radar for years. A former senior Palveiro official reportedly brokered a meeting between Gama and then-president elect Sara Palveiro after her election, and recent leaked documents showed that the Palveiro transition team had vetted her for an administration position.

Premier emerges on live TV to talk to Galicia

The Germanic Union and Lusophone did not keep their intentions secret. Premier Jose Santos and other important ministers of his government were stayed in secrecy in case of an absolute war scenario - in which case Lusophone and the Germanic Union would attempt to kill them. After their attempt to de-stabilise the nation, Premier Santos emerged on national television on the main-state television channel after emergency broadcasting declared. Mr Santos appeared to the nation live on television and said the following in response to the war against the Socialist Federal Republic of Galicia.

Greetings Galicians, and Europeans alike.

I will not hesitate in calling out what has occurred and is occurring currently. The Republic has been the victim of a non-innocent declaration of war by the Germanic Union and Lusophone. Our people have been concerned about this for a great period of time now, the anxieties of warfare have been at our throats since independence. Never, could have we been allowed self-determination in a world of thugs, gangstas and people who are bent on imperialism. After an initial assault, the vital organs of our government have survived, which persists on as the only legitimate government of Galicia at these daring times. But we must not be meager in our analysis of this situation. It is undoubtedly a regime-change war, to remove our government, as demonstrated in their recent and callous attacks on the capital. It is a war, primarily lead by the chief war criminals in the government of the Germanic Union. We believe that the people of Lusophone are being taken for a ride - and Germany is leading them right into patricide. Their recent willingness to kill fellow people, and yes, civilians in the Iberian Peninsula, is a key indicator that we are not fighting Iberia.

What we will be fighting is the faceless hivemind of the Germanic Union and their buddies in the top of government in Lusophone. I believe that they forget that Galicia is not going to bow down to this murdering order of fascism. The German 'Wehrmacht' will be torn down before they even reach our borders, they will be shot down and they will be sunk to the bottom of the ocean. That is because Galicia understands the history of fascism, and never will be the victims of this again. I have no doubt that the recent authoritarian order in Lusophone will be instituted systematically in the Republic if they are given the opportunity. Our responsibility, as Galicians and Europeans is not not allow their totalitarianism defeat the Republican Army. I am fairly certain that the Galician Republican Army will defeat the hordes before they reach our communities. But that can only be achieved if we can unite as a peoples, just like we have countless times before.

The fight is for real, and the fight is for our basic humanity. It was only a few months ago when the national elections were held. My party won seats, the opposition won seats, but what we understood is that democracy must be respected. The masses of troops from Western Europe that are invading are invading to overthrow the democratically-elected government of Galicia. That is clear to see. In their recent missile attack on the capital, it is evident that they have a stringent disregard for Galician democracy and rule of law. The Parliament was hit by a missile, elected representatives were the target of attacks and they made attempts at killing the press, literally. These are opponents to democracy, thus, they are opponents of all Galicians and our democratic state-hood must be upheld. It must be up-held, even if it means our armed forces must fight back to maintain our sovereignty. Sovereignty is another item that we take for granted during these times. They will, Germany and their puppets in Lusophone, have no qualms in overturning the results of the Independence Referendum. First they will destroy our demcoracy, then they will overturn the results of the referendum for independence.

These are anti-democratic forces coming for our government. Democracy is the pinnacle of our nation and we will not lose sight of it, or at least as strong and proud Galicians dare to defy the oppressors knocking on our door. That's why I have authorized people's militias, to defend the revolution of Galicia and defend the homeland that us and our children enjoy. This will be our final call for peace, we have offered numerous times for dialogue. But if violence is chosen as the answer; Galicia and her allies will be given no choice but eliminate the armies of authoritarianism. Make no doubt about that, if they come for us in Santiago de Compostela, we will come to them in Lisbon.
