Gods of Atherius:The Dawn Age [OOC|God|Open]

It was the dawn of a new era when the world was forged in the flames of Chaos, and tempered by the hands of Order. The Primordials beings of great power were born from both Order and Chaos. It was Order who gave life and willpower to these beings. Yet Chaos wished to sow the seeds of discord and whispered into the ears of the Primordials giving birth to strife and conflict. Thus the Great Cycle was born one that would see reality shatter and reform itself endlessly across the pages of space and time.

The Primordials would fight an epic battle for who would come to rule the Universe. Mundus or the mundane plane was born from this very war of creation and destruction. Entire planets were born, nebula and galaxies created from the constant destruction. Many beings would emerge from this time of ruin, the Fates, who weaved the destinies of Gods and mortals alike, the Furies who exacted punishment on those who broke their oaths. In the end, the most powerful Primordial Aetempas Brightlord of the Heavens would reign victorious over all of creation. Aetempas would shire seven children with the Earth-Mother Terra giving birth to the all-powerful Titans.

At first, the Titans served the Primordials well, but the Fates foretold that Aetempas would be overthrown by his firstborn son Terratus. Aetempas would send the Serephims servants of the Lord of the Heavens to chain the Titans and banish them to the depths of Maelstrom. In the end, Terratus defeated the Serephims and rallied the Titans declaring war on the Primordials for their betrayal. The world was reforged in this second Divine War; the Primordials would be driven to extinction, Terratus would forever chain his father to the Sky separating him from Terra forever.

Now the Titans would be the undisputed rulers of existence for millions of years to come, yet the Fates continued to weave their destinies of all beings and foretold new beings that would come to rule the cosmos. The gods born from the various love affairs of the Titans, or born by the cosmic forces were at first beneath the Titans but soon grew in power. Terratus like his father feared being overthrown and tried to banish the gods to Maelstrom, but in the end, the gods rebelled, and soon the First Titanomachy was born. The gods would end up defeating the Titans in yet another epic war of the divines. In a twist of irony Terratus along with the other Titans would be banished to Maelstrom for all of the eternity tormented for their betrayal.

Now the Aetherian Gods are the undisputed rulers of the Cosmos, they ruled victorious from their base of power on Mount Atherius for the remainder of the Mythic Age. Everything was well until the Phoenix Break occurred. Called the Tear in the East, for that, is where it is believed to have occurred. It was a shattering of the cosmos that reshaped reality itself. Within the pages of the Book of Time, the tales of the gods where rewritten. The son became the father, the mother became the daughter, east became west, time moved both forward and backward, and the stories of reality where broken and reassembled. After the Phoenix Break was complete, much had changed yet much remained the same.

Now the Mythic Age as drawn to a close. The gods have ruled Mundus for tens of thousands of years, epic tales have been written in the book of time. Tales of heroics, love, great battles, and the creation of new things and ideas. But all of that is over, nigh is the time of the Dawn Age. The crowning achievement of all this is this creation of mortal races. They are independent beings with a flicker of fire called souls. They are weak by themselves but there is something unique about them. They have the power to shape the very gods themselves, to strengthen or weaken them through the power of faith.

Permise

Welcome roleplayers to Gods of Atherius: The Dawn Age!This is a game where you the player will take control of an all-powerful deity. You and your fellow gods have by this time watched over Mundus for countless eons since the end of the Mythic Age. With the advent of mortal races, it is now the time of the Dawn Age.

Mortals are special compared to deities. In contrast to gods, they are extremely weak and fragile. They also age and die departing this world for the next. Their unique power lays in their souls, and the ability to affect the gods through the power of faith. This is not exact but it is always better to have worshippers for they grant power and can increase the influence of a deity.

Now there'll be seven main gods, who will reign in a new pantheon similar to various mythologies in real life, ruled by a powerful supreme deity think Zeus, Ra or Odin. This is based on a first come first serve basis. Once all seven positions are taken, you'll still get to play as a minor deity, but you'll just be less powerful than general. Just because you're in the main pantheon doesn't mean your all-powerful, power in Mundus is fluid and waxes and wanes, especially when mortal species are created who'll influence the power of the gods. Has time passes on you'll find that your power may decrease this is based on the number of followers one has.

This is a dice game! Every god will perform a "divine act," and the Gamemaster will roll for the result. Now let's say you're a God of Earth, you'll obviously have more success when forging mountains, deserts, and canyons then anyone else but keeps in mind that this is a mythological roleplay. Thus there's nothing a god can't do, let your imagination run wild! Also, be aware that some crazy ass shit will happen don't be surprised if a four-headed dragon is born from your blood once slain in battle or that meteorite you sent kickstarted an event that awakens the Deep Ones.

Lore

Map
World of Terra

Image

The world of Terra third rock from the sun. It is a conjunction of realities, thus all deities and cosmic entities have a stake on this planet more so than the other ones. A single ring and moon surround the planet the remains of Ithos Titan of Ice and Snow who was defeated in the Titanomachy. In the Era of the Primordials, the world was full of mythical beasts cyclopses, nagas, and gorgons as well as beasts incomprehensible to nature and boundaries. Most of these beasts were the children of Aetempas and Terra.

The planet was an oasis of life until the Third Divine War or the Titanomachy. So great was the Titanomachy that the fabled world was reduced to ashes. The cataclysmic clashes between the gods and titans destroyed all life that had existed before. After the war, the gods soon returned the planet to its former glory, and an age of life the likes never saw before seen had arisen. Terra is now a world of soaring mountains, sweeping grasslands, thick deciduous forests, sweltering jungles, boggy swamps, inhospitable deserts, as well lands both strange and magical. Perhaps the most notable feature besides the Rings of Ithos is the Great Rift or Scar that runs through the southern hemisphere of the planet. This is no natural feature at all, the result of a great battle between gods, and a guardian primordial in the previous age.

The planet is home to flora and fauna both otherworldly and mundane, the sentients being the most prominent and dominant of the diverse species that call this world home. These sentients so far are the Elves, Dwarves, and humans. The Elves live in harmony in the forests, on the coast small in number but skilled in magic. The Dwarves live in the mountains in the south, small in number they forge tools and weaponry in the mountains. The humans the most numerous of all races are spread across the globe they though great in number they are primitive, stone age people, living in nomadic clans following the herds of prey across the breast of the world.

Dragons- Created by King Kona in the Mythic Age

Elemental Monsters- Created by Murr Quhalden in the Mythic Age

Daemons

Mermaids

Dryads

Phoenixes

Humans- Your typical hairless apes. They are diverse and occupy nearly every biome on the planet They roam the planet in clans small in number living off the land. They are very primitive incapable of using magic and utilizing stone tools, for hunting. They are the most fertile of all the sentient species on Terra.
Population: 10,000

The Elves-
The Elves are drifters from a different reality. Unlike the humans who were created in Mundus, the Elves were stranded here during the Phoenix Break. They have no memory of their previous reality and believe that they have always been here, and are natives of Terra. They live in a single city hidden in the forests in the western shores of the Continent. They are small in number but skilled in the ways of magic.
Population: 1,000
Settlment: City of Númenya
Gifts: Magic/Arcana

Dwarves- Like the Elves, the Dwarves are also drifters across the seas of reality. During the Phoenix Break they where torn from their reality to this one and left at the mountains of the far south near the southern pole. There they carved their stronghold in the mountains, forging wonders of technology and industry. Like the Elves, they are small in number but make up for it by being the most advanced species on the planet.
Population: 3,000
Settlment: City of Khag Maldir
Gifts: Forging/Mining

Image
Mysterious beings who weave the fates of all God and mortal alike. From their pocket reality, The Pillars of Time they forge the destinies of all beings. There is a room full of strings. These are the destinies of all beings. The dull strings represent mortal lives, while the golden strings represent the divines. The Fates hold the eyes of the past, present, and future, and see and know all there is to know. They have existed since time immemorial but only revealed themselves in the onslaught of the first Divine War. The Fates have always reigned has the rulers of Time and Fate, they deemed the Primordials victorious then the Titans. In the last phase of the Mythic Age, they have now deemed the gods' victorious rulers of the cosmos, but even the gods know not what they plan for while the gods all-powerful, it is the Fates who ultimately deem the destiny of all beings who call Mundus home.

Image

The Tear in the East. An anomaly occurred that reshaped reality itself just before the beginning of the Dawn Age. All aspects of reality were broken apart and reassembled. When reality was put back together many things remained the same, the Titanomachy still occurred, the gods still won. Yet some fundamental aspects were changed. For example in the previous story, Azanla God of Fire was the supreme deity. After the Phoenix Break Kona God of the Heavens is the supreme deity. When a Phoenix Break occurs and the past is changed it's as if the new changes had always been no one questions what occurred for to them the new reality is the one that's always been.

In lore reasons, this explains the stories of new gods while making all things that occurred in the previous game canon. It also allows other races from different realities to get stranded into this one. Out of game, this allows players to play gods from the previous iteration and have their adventures and creations still be relevant in the current game.

Image
Beings of immense power, they were once the proud rulers of Mundus and all reality. Seven Titans ruled over Mundus led by King Terratus who chained his father Aetempas, from their Earth-Mother Terra for all time. The Titans ruled with an iron fist, species such has Serephims former servants of Aetempas were enslaved to their will. In this golden age, the Titans would have the entire universe bent to their will and ruled creation for untold millions of years. That is until the Third Divine War. The Titanomachy a great and epic war was fought that shattered the cosmos. The gods were victorious and banished the Titans to Maelstrom, for all eternity, there they lay in their torment biding there time to escape and rule over the cosmos once again.

Terratus
King of the Titans. He was the one who rallied the Titans in the second Divine War and defeated his father Aetempas, he grabbed the nebula and gases forging a mighty chain, imprisoning his father to heavens for all eternity. After the Primordials where defeated, the Titans would rule all existence for millions of years. Terratus was at first a fair and just ruler of the cosmos, but then power and greed corrupted him through the eons. He became paranoid and fearful that the gods would overthrow him as he did the Primordials, thus he tried to banish the gods, only fulfilling the prophecy of the Great Cycle.
Dagath
Titan of Fire. Named the many armed ones for he wielded six blades of pure fire the size of mountains. At first, he swore an alliance with the gods, but then betrayed them. The Furies then rode in from the depths of Maelstrom and tried to torment him but his power was too great and he defeated the Furies, banishing them once more to Maelstrom, but in his weakened state, the gods managed to defeat him banishing him to Maelstrom for all eternity.
Solaris
Titan of Light and the Heavens. He was Terratus's second in command and the 2nd most powerful Titan in existence. He summoned great storms and hurricanes that ravaged the world over. He was as tall as a mountain so large that he threatened the very foundations of Mount Atherius itself. When he climbed the mountains the gods were nearly defeated, yet a miracle occurred and he was struck down falling to the depths of Maelstrom never to threaten the gods again or so it seems...

Ithos
Titan of Ice. He was in charge of the Northern and Southern poles of Terra and commanded his forces from those domains. Wherever he leads his armies, everlasting winter and snow followed, many gods were perished from his blade and frozen into pure ice, he was one of the most difficult Titans to defeat.

Alterra
Titaness of Air and Knowledge. She was the only one of her kind that did not betray the gods, instead watching the war from her realm of, Altaria and recording the events of the war for cosmic history. She is one of the most mysterious beings, in the cosmos and continues watching over the gods recording the last historical events of the Mythic Age.

Malacar
Titaness of Destruction, Mother of Monsters. She was a fierce warrior and considered by Terratus to be a weapon a force of pure destructive power. She commanded an entire army of monsters and lead them in her clashes with the gods. Many gods were killed by her blade, and in the end, she was barely defeated.

Vaedra
Titaness of Darkness and Illusion. The Pale Knight. Never truly defeated in battle, she constantly played tricks on the gods and struck with death and swiftness from the shadows. By the time the Titans where defeated, she had faded into the shadows, never to be found. It is said that she watches from the Shadow Realms, waiting for her chance to strike. Others say that she as left this universe to strike it out in another, in any case, it is a mystery...

It is said that Maelstrom as always existed before even the Primordials walked the realm of Mundus. It is a physical realm that represents the force of Chaos itself, thus like the planets and stars themselves, it is infinite in depth and scope and permeates across the cosmos. Here the sinners are often sent, breakers of oaths, tormented by the Furies for their sins. Monsters hail from this realm, whenever a monster is slain by a god or hero, its soul is returned here, and is reborn by forces of Chaos.

THE RULES
1. Do not pick OP, domains such as order, chaos, time, or fate. There are already "Fates" role played by me, so that's not even required

2. This is a god RP, but don't god-mod

3. I expect quality posting, posts at least a paragraph long

4. You can have abstract domains, but do be warned that will be more difficult getting bonuses to rolls,

5. Do choose domains such as Air, Earth, the Sun, Weather, etc things that are concrete. No domains such as Justice, Protection or anything vague for that matter.

6. Please read the Lore or at least skim it over.

7. Post every 48 hours at least.

8. If you believe you won't be very active please apply as a minor deity, Aetherians by default play important roles in the story and should be played by people who can post in the 48 hour time mark

9. Don't bring modern terminology/objects into the IC. This game is set in a fantasy world in a distant ancient past so I expect a certain sense of immersion when roleplaying in this world.

10. Don't bring OOC matters into the IC, if you have issues or want to bring anything up just post it in the OOC.

Biography: Kona the last born son of Terratus. At first, he was loyal to his father but that all changed when he was betrayed by the King of the Titans. He would lead the gods in rebellion against the Titans. Using his mastery of the heavens he launched power lightning bolts at the Titans, and summoned storms, to defeat them in the great war to determine who would become masters of the cosmos.

In the end, he challenged his father Terratus to an epic battle of willpower and strength. King Terratus attacked Kona with powerful cosmic attacks. Kona barely resisted and nearly perished himself he would summon a powerful storm and unleashed a torrent of lightning bolts at Terratus reducing the King of Titans into ash. Has his father reformed himself from his remains Kona would summon a blade and tore open a portal in the fabric of reality and banished his father to the depths of Maelstrom for all time.

Kona would reign victorious has the King of the Gods. He would aid in the rebuilding of Terra, restoring it to its former glory, and ushering a new era of life on the planet. Has King he would rarely intervene in the affairs of the gods instead focusing on creating new life, and would let the Atherians and minor deities do their own thing.

Personality: Kona is a kind and vigilant diety.

Whatever you'd like that happened so far ago that it would be a historic memory more than anything else. The Isles of the Divines were destroyed, however...

Deity Name: Murr Quhalden

Atherian or Minor?: Atherian

If Atherian what postion?: Two

Domain: Monsters

Appearance (Image or description):Human Form
Monster form

Biography: Murr Quhalden was birthed by Malacar as the means of being thrown at the gods. The thing is that Quhalden was part of the minority of monsters who thought that there was more than just being sent into the Maestrom. This made Murr to stage a revolt with his fellow monsters to help the gods fight their mother. Malacar killed many gods and monsters, even wound Murr but eventually she was overthrown.

Mur took her sword and absorb its power to become a god, severing his soul from the Maelstrom but he was the last monster that saw the rebuilding of the new world but he promised to give them a home that they can share with the other gods. Through the new age he tried but his power was that of chaos, as was his former lineage. Despite that, his small experiments did help the world of Terra.

His search came with the rise of the Isle of the Gods, guarded by the mighty world serpent Asep. Murr and three other gods did battle with the mighty being and shook the very world but managed to slay it. The efforts to get to the island were in vain as the Isle was destroyed in the aftermath. His bestial anger got to him as he roared in defeat before the Phoenix Break.

He didn't know what happened only that he serves as the right hand man of Kona. The battle was a distant memory but the scars and poison changed his form and his body. He became more tempered from his bestial part of himself and had obtain some attributes that made him look somewhat like the serpent. However the goal was still the same for him and the promise must be kept. He seeks a new land and a new way to make monsters a new race for his people.

Personality: Murr is a chaotic and aggressive individual. This is due to him being a monster and as a being of chaos which will cause more trouble than it's worth. He is very single-minded and relies more on bestial cunning than formal knowledge. After the Phoenix Break he is more tempered and controlled, willing to work with the gods and serve the King as the right hand man but still maintains the promise he held before the Break.

Well heres some advice for y'all newbies, when making a god make sure that they have some grand scheme or goal in mind, rather that's world domination or whatever, but don't make a deity and be like oof what am I going to do with him/her :)

Deity Name: "The Freak God" Hyztlet ( alternatively called "The Banished God" )

Atherian or Minor?: Minor

If Atherian what postion?: N/A

Domain: Insects and Invertebrates

Appearance (Image or description): A head of an Ant, Antenae of cockroach, a Body of a Bettle, Four arms and four legs of a spider and the sting of a wasp and the wings of a dragonfly all in a towering figure is how the "The Freak God" looks and how it presents itself to the mortals as it wonders the mortal realm often

Biography: ( I decided to write it as if it were a Mytho )
Born from the spilled blood of Malacar on an unsuspecting insect, it's cocoon grew and grew, fed by the insects nearby feeling the arrival of their king, once the time came for it to hatch it emerged, the mortal humans near it run away as the newborn God tore ground emerging from its cocoon and onto the world, the insects and spiders and scorpions and other like them rejoiced and crowned it with a crown from chitin. But when it discovered its Godliness and decided to take its place among others it stretched its wings and flew to heavens with an entourage of insects following.

And when it came to the mountain that the other Gods resided and pounded on the door and asked for a place to sit and eat and live, the Gods laughed and shunned and banished the "Freak God" from Mount Aetherius as they called it, finding no place in the heavens it flew back to the mortal realm to dwell among the mortals. But, some mortals saw it as a true God and started to worship it, in return, it gave them protection from cockroaches and lotus and scorpions and spiders.

And now it sits in the realm of the mortal, enraged and furious at the Gods on the Mountain.
Personality: it's personality is a brush one, he is very easily angered, he is full of spite towards other Gods but managed to avoid being banished to the Maelstrom because he is a minor deity of far to small power to be of any threat towards other Gods except the most minor ones, his goal is to prove to the other Gods he is too a God not just some freak of nature that happens to be able to speak and be worshipped by a group of less than 100 humans

Deity Name: Voriss

Atherian or Minor?: Atherian

If Atherian what postion?: 3

Domain: The Sun, agriculture

Appearance :
Image

Biography: Eldest of the five children of Solaris, Voriss was the captain of the Heavenly Bovines. The five Cows of Solaris were the most loyal followers of the Titans, and they envisioned the five siblings as one day becoming their own servants, such as the serephims had been the servants of Aetempas. Atherius was their pasture and their home, and even when the First Titanomachy was unleashed by Kona the five siblings remained neutral.

However, after long years of fighting, the war was brought to the holy pastures of Atherius, when Solaris began his scaling of the Mount. Armed with the sun as his sword, Solaris climbed the mountain. Five times, his children beseeched him to stop his scaling and to leave the Mount intact, but Solaris was bent on the destruction of the Gods and their home. After the fifth time, the five bovines chose side for the Gods and entered the Titanomachy, taking the sun from his possession and smiting him from the mountain with it.

By right of conquest and inheritance, Voriss became the holder of the sun. With the help of other Gods he forged the sun from a sword into a ploughshare, to hence be a force for honest labour instead of a destructive force. His four brothers were chained before it, to draw it across the sky for all eternity. As the guardian of the sun and defeater of Solaris, Kona accepted Voriss as one of the Atherians.

Voriss had seen enough of war. He vowed that the Eternal Sun would never again be used to wage war. Instead, he would use it for the betterment of the world. He swore never to cause war or conflict by himself, rather he would become a servant to the other Gods and the mortal races they were to create. As such, he would become the protector of agriculture, of the vines and orchards, the fields and pastures.

Personality: Voriss is deeply pacifist and caring. His goal is that no child goes to bed hungry, as he sees all mortals as under his care. He has fought in a war once, and he will never participate one again. He is deeply ashamed of killing his own father, even though it was out of necessity. Unlike many other Gods, he does not consider the Titanomachy as something glorious to be proud of.

The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

Like to say that in lore that Murr is caring to those who are born from the blood of Malacar. He wouldn't laugh and throw him out. He would try to make reconciliation with him and make sure he has a place in this world as he promised all monsters.

Well, maybe Murr just wasn't around when Hyztlet tried going on that Mountain, I mean, I'm pretty sure he would miss something from time to time ( part of Hyztlet's lore is that he is rejected by other Gods, it's a core aspect of him )

Tag, thinking of making an Atherian goddess of the night sky who takes the form of a massive spider that weaves webs made of galaxy filaments. I might have her be a daughter of one of the Fates, (Spiders are associated with weaving which is associated with fate, and the stars are associated with constellations which are associated with fate.) unless that's not allowed.
Signatures are so 2014.

That can work, can have Murr still trying to figure out more of this reality and would want to help Hyztlet in his goals.

And thus we create the first paradox, we have a God of Insects and if your Goddess is a Spider it means she is part of the domain of my God but since she is a God she can't be a part of the domain of another God
