(This without the staff)

Mage?: Yes
Bio:
Born a second son of a second son, Calthanius Swyrfe, or Calt as he was often called, was a noble scion, hailing from one of Dascus' prominent noble houses. His father ascended the position of Lord Swyrfe when he was five, although some say the Lord had achieved that through dirty means. In his youth, he often travelled with his father and the Swyrfe retinue out of the Castle; sometimes for hunts, sometimes for eradicating highwaymen that plagued his father's country estates. He had taken an interest in nature - as opposed to his brother and all the noble boys his age, which preferred swords over books and potions. Thus he often travelled alone when he had no assignments to do; camping and exploring the whole kingdom, while collecting whatever samples of dangerous herbs and animals useful for him. In his room alone, he had amassed a considerably large amount of poison from his various travels; castor and oleander, rhododendron and azalea, snake venoms and sulfur. He even collected various toxic algal blooms from passing sailors and pirates. His collection of peculiar substances had only been an interest on the natural sciences, however. It would saw greater, and more devious uses in the future.

Being a second son, Calt was groomed for a position in court - either as a knight or an advisor. His brother was prepared to be Lord Swyrfe and his sister mages. His interest laid on magical things, however. He studied alchemy and magic under a Consortium tutor, which he excelled at - gaining a pass to join the academy at the early age of eleven. However, his mother did everything she can to delay it. Calt was taught swordsmanship and archery - his mother pushed him to be a knight of royal service. But if there is anything he hates, that would be knights and their "honorable" oaths - he deemed them no more as hypocrite killers pretending to be something more. Calt was not an adept swordsman, disliking the practice and training from start, but he was a better archer than most. He once boasted that he could shoot a raven from a mile long. He discovered an affinity with magic, however; the thing seemed to be natural for him. He quickly learned how to cast spells and charms and jinxes, but for him, true magicka could be only present by experimenting and building things. But for all his affinity of magic and such mystical things, he found it very hard to reach the thing he did best at, and he wanted to.

He spent most of his early youth learning the basic matters at the Swyrfe castle, while collect magical artifacts, as well as poisons and other abnormal things with subtle planning. However, despite this, Calt has yet to enter the Consortium officially, thanks to his mother's efforts. He was intent to study magic, of course, but the so-called Lord and Lady Swyrfe would have none of it. Calt's father was the man he had admired since his childhood; about how the noble and gallant Lord would show him wondrous places across Dascus and beyond, and retained high positions in the King's court. His father entertained Calt with tales of his exploits and gallantry, about how he expanded his fortunes considerably. Calt believed his father's tell-tales for the better time of his childhood - until he found his father torturing a man under their castle's dungeons. It was clearly something he was not meant to see. At first, he was afraid. He had always seen his father as a honourable and righteous man, and it terrified him to saw that man covered in blood. But he had no choice after watching the terrible event passed by - he already knew some, if not all, of Lord Swyrfe's secrets in the dark.

Since that time, his world changed upside down. Ashamed - or something other he did not know - his father decided to silence the only person money can't buy for him. While his brother was ever the obedient and charming knight, young Calthanius was a talented marksman and clever kid, something that his father was aware of, and despised. Lord Swyrfe knew a danger when he saw one, and for him and his dealings, his young son was a danger. His father - and his life - turned upside down from that point onwards. No more could he travel free as he want, as his father's guards and spies would lurk about and inform of every inch he made. His father would often came into his bed at night, no more that to warn Calt about shutting his mouth and keeping the things discreet. He always made sure that his stack of dangerous items was kept safe, however. But the continuous scrutiny and threats about him certainly made his mind snapped at one point. He was but a young boy, and a rash one at that - never thinking about the further consequences of an action. He confronter his father once, with a blade in hand; his father struck him with another sword, forevermore scarring him with a deep wound in the chest. Afterwards, he was thrown away in a Swyrfe fortress at Dascus' backwater borderlands, under watch from one of his father's henchmen. He vowed revenge since then, hell-bent on destroying whatever legacy his father had in the realm.

If Lord Swyrfe had been one thing, then Calt's mother was another, albeit not so far in personality with his father. At first, given his "exile" at a faraway fortress, he had expected the stay to be a calm and peaceful one, where he could do what he excels best - studying the deepet aspects of magic. Alas, this was not the case. As expected of a nobility, his parents was eager to place him in a courtly position - a gallant knight, a battle commander, or something - some other position full of hypocrites. He hold no love for it the slightest. Years of tension, even more than he had experienced in Castle Swyrfe, had began to take its toll. Calt was sore and friendless there, his only solace being the rack of books and his substance vials that he fortunately had time to brought there. Even here he was not treated like a noble's son; the master-at-arms regarded him nothing more than a soldier in training, though he deduced it must be under his father's requests. He was beaten and beaten multiple times, despite not doing a terrible job at sword-fighting and was the best archer in that whole castle. Hell, he even got no time to practice magic at all - nothing more than several hours in the night, further diminishing any chance of rest he had. Strained, tired, and under heavy training given to him, Calt did not expect to last more than a month here. If he did die, at least he got the chance to know magic at first, and the chance to practice it. He tried, many times, to just take a knife and slit himself at the throat; yet the desire of learning, the desire of revenge kept him going day after day.

Alas, his time on the prison had come to an end, when he was allowed to join a party of soldiers. Highwaymen and bandits frequented several villages under Swyrfe hold, and as a response, his father sent a band of soldiers to fight them, including his son. They succeeded, and Calt proved himself to be an excellent marksman, taking down most of their serjeants and leaving the soldiers lowly bandits. That night, the soldiers camped together and celebrated. What came after that is something that disgusted him and left him faithless in the nobility.

The soldiers, and his father's knights - they raped. They murdered and robbed the smallfolk they were sworn to protect, sent to protect. They all were no better than the bandits - some being even worse than them. For all the honourable oath and vows of sacred a Knight took, they were all animals, no better than rabid dogs scrambling for meat, mead, and women. Godless and faithless, everyone of them - though Calt wasn't sure if he had a God in the first place. If this is what his mother wanted him to became, he would rather slit his own throat first - he still had a human heart, despite all the killing and poisoning he'd done. At the night he quietly left the camp to get away from all the madness, and relax himself at the fields of Azaleas that surrounded the village. But then, azaleas were poisons. He boiled the flower and mixed the water with mead. The morrow came, and all the soldiers and knights found their belly burned after drink; their windpipes clenched shut.

The village was thankful, to say the least. This unknown archer had freed them from so-called noble knights and lordly soldiers that had raped their women, stole their gold, and robbed their storehouses out of grain and mead. In return, Calt only asked them for help in concealing the bodies - they mixed up the fallen knights, soldiers, and bandits to show the presence of a bloody battle. And to conceal his identity - not that he had given his true name, of course. Regardless, the event had turned the repressed and foolish young boy into a trained assassin, devoid of any love or allegiance he ever had for his family. He saw them all as hypocrites and murderes, thieves and upjumped robbers, each one of them. He wanted peace, as all of a good countryman would - but the only way to achieve that was by killing the right person and torturing their nefarious partners. He returned into the fortress, being the only survivor. And at least, he had finally received a good news for what seemed like a lifetime - though it also disappointed him as well. His father, the Lord Swyrfe was dead. He was embroiled in joy, though disappointed that he was not one to swing the deadly blow, however.

Disillusioned and holding much grudge, Calt returned to the capital as his father had died of a heartstroke. He pleaded with his mother one last time to allow him join the Consortium, just as his brother was proclaimed Lord Swyrfe - to no avail. Finally, Calt decided to take matters into his own, despicable hands. On the night feast of his brother's ascension, he personally slipped a vial of rhododendron honey in his mother's wine. He watched as she choked and bleeded out until her death, all the while smirking in joy subtly. He remained in the estate for several more days, pretending to be extremely saddened and heartbroken - which he is a good actor on. Finally, he left the Swyrfe estate full of his spies and servants, filling the court with people loyal only to him, effectively strangled the house under his hold. He entered the Mage Consortium at the young age of sixteen then, and began his study for the greater arcanes, being quite the proficient mage beforehand. When he was eighteen, Calt asked his brother for ownership over a Swyrfe stronghold on the capital's outskirts, and filled it with his own men and retinue. Tell-tales exist about how he collected talismans and artifacts ancient, magical objects leftover of the Great War, and pieces of weaponry glowing with arcane hue. Of course he would not let any words that tell such things of him slip through - he paid the servants and soldiers bountifully, and played the generous lord on them. Eventually, the tales past and no-one even sought a glance on how alchemists and mages all over the country sought refuge in his fortress.

His magical knowledge and subsequent career expanded considerably. Calt was an intellectual and a mechanical genius - he quickly learned spells years ahead of his level as a student, and mastered it all within just months. But never did he strayed away from his true intentions. The Grand Mage of Sorcery had been a wizened, elderly man, and Calt was his favourite as a student. But from what he knows about him, the man was also a scheming and cunning politician - his henchmen slaughtered several merchantman just because they failed to pay but a small debt. The Grand Mage was also planning to gain a position on court; something that Calt could not allow, at least not in his conscience. So he plotted and planned; he dispatched his own spies about the capital, and finally, decided to confront the Grand Mage the same way as he did his father years ago; this time with the Crimson Bands instead of blades. The fight was a heavy and brutal one - he strained his magicka heavily enough, and lost a finger in the process. Eventually, he managed to bind the Grand Mage, incarcerated him by casting a Burning Shield right on his body, and finally slitting his throat with a simple knife. Eventually, he covered his tracks with a guise of Dark Magic. Of course, no-one would suspect the charming prodigy of the Consortium as a brutal killer, and a Dark practicioner more than so.

Eventually, he inherited the Grand Mage's possessions, as he was considered one of the Mage's prized students at the time. Chief among them was the Rune of Mind and the Swiftwind - a sentinel bow gilded with a crimson shade of gold, relics of the Grear War eons ago. The bow became his most prized possession afterwards - being a great marksman and a mage. He was appointed a Consortium advisor to the court, and through intrigue and deception, managed to strange a hold at the Swyrfe holdings and economy. He wanted no dissent for his own rule, though; his subordinates at the Swyrfe castle made great gifts to his sister, and he often visited the place just to sow considerable strain on his brother and sister's relationship. Finally, when a raiding party entered Dascus, he appointed his brother to lead the response, and made sure Lord Swyrfe dies fighting rebels. Afterwards he resigned from court, took his Consortium position back, and returned to the Swyrfe estate for his proclamation. He sent his sister to a secluded Swyrfe stronghold under guard, eliminating further threats to his rule - and continued his career in the Consortium. His proficiency in Sorcery - one of the magical disciplines that require great study and mastery to perform - led to his appointment as the Vice-Mage of the particular school, based on a Dascus settlement not far from his own holdings. He was possibly the youngest Vice-Mage to ever hold the position. Regardless, he still held a prominent influence on the Dascusi court. As the battle over the Haden Hill temple draws near, he could not take any chances not to salvage the ancient and powerful arcane items that lay there - and he would made sure that he got the largest piece of it all. The struggle for Order and Peace was the only one that ever mattered on this accursed world.

Fighting Style: Archer-Mage
Abilities:
  • [Magical Spells]:
▪︎Crimson Bands: This spell creates a series of crimson large ropes that is illogically very light for its caster. It binds a person or several objects to the caster's whim.
▪︎Arrows of the Ancient: The Swiftwind is capable of performing this spell, being an enchanted bow. Casts seven magical arrows for every normal arrow shot by the bow. Basically functions to hit multiple targets at great precision and time. The number of arrows are doubled for every time the magicka energy was increased.
▪︎Storm-Eye: As with the Blade hex, the caster summons a vortex of energy first, then casted the spell. The surrounding air will be sucked into this vortex, and released to a direction, spewing forth a guise of wind.
▪︎Arcane Phantom: Commonly called the Teleportation Spell. Transports your soul and its vessel (your body) to a range. A standard range of hundred metres is the usual range for a highly-learned magician, but proficient and powerf ones can travel distant ranges.
▪︎Icon of Illusions: A mage possessing the Rune of Mind can cast this spell easily. Creates an illusion of minimal nine beings similar to the caster, though if the caster was a proficent mage, the illusion could be increased up to sixty-four. It is possible to cast the spell without the Rune, but it exerts a considerable amount of magic energy.
▪︎Burning Shield: Practically any mage could cast this spell. Summons a magical shield of yellow-gold sparkling color, hence the name.
  • [Physical Abilities]:
▪︎Expert Marksman: Years of archery training made him an expert on bows and arrows.
▪︎Master Assassin: There is no more much explanation for a man who successfully assassinated his own family and superiors in the Consortium. Adept at knife-fighting and poisoning, Calt is a figure to beware of in the darks.

Limitations:
  • Magical Limitations:
▪︎Limited Magicka: Casting spells, dangerous amounts or not, requires a high amount of energy and concentration. The regular human body needs rest before continuing to practice magic, to fill again the magical energy.
▪︎Arcane Dangers: Summonings, teleportations, and even simple binding spells can create backlash that could threaten the caster's life.
  • Physical Limitations:
▪︎Rangeds Only: Calt preferred his fights from a distance, or with magic. While he was not outright incapable of fighting melee (unless, it's an assassination attempt where the target has no chance of blocking) he avoided open battles as he was by no means a great warrior or knight.
▪︎Physically Weak: He was never known for his strength and physical prowess.
▪︎Armourless: Not accustomed and peferring to use magical shields than a physical one, Calt rarely, if ever, put into a full body armour and protector like the common knights did.
▪︎Despicable: Calt is a man consumed by desire of revenge, and to attain his goals - he value his views for peace and order than most, and would go great lengths to maintain it. Sometimes, these characteristics led to a rash tendency, and foolishness. He paid no allegiance but himself, and hold no alliance besides himself.

Equipment:
  • Magical Equipments:
▪︎Rune of Mind: A dark sapphire imbued with runes within its surface. He wears the item like a necklace. The wearer is capable of performing the Icon of Illusions spell easily, clearing magical illusions, and summoning spirits.
  • Physical Equipments:
▪︎Swiftwind: A sentinel bow gilded with red gold. The bow had been enchanted to provide a swift kill for its targets.
▪︎Arsenal of Blades: Mostly simple knifes used to stab and slit, but he owned swords and greatswords as well, although rarely used.
▪︎Gallery of Poisons: One of the largest, well-supplied, and complete stack of poisonous substances, ranging from the castor plant to basilsk venom. Most of them have not an antidote yet.
▪︎Wealth: Extracting money from his House and obtaining the Consortium's gold, sometimes through corruption, Calt is never short of coin.

Optional Questionnaire
Personal Quest: To attain the prized magical items at Haden Hill as of now
Favorite Factions: Dascus, the Mage Consortium (although he liked the Consortium to the point of taking their knowledge)
Least Favorite Factions: All of Elf-kind (enemies of Magic)
Favorite Memory: The time when he murdered all those who destroyed any chance of normal life.
Goals: He saw peace and justice in a twisted way, compared to what others usually thought. But he was ultimately committed to help people, and to bring Dascus as the sole ruler of all humans and mages in Eboris. O
Greatest Fear: Loss of his magic, and reminders of his past.
Religion: Calt was a logical and skeptic person - he does not believe in a divine presence, despite being a mage himself. Oficially, however, he was a follower of Magika, give his profession.

If there is a position immediately below the Grand Mage I'll take it if Grand Mage was not possible enough for my app.

(This is my attempt on creating a very dark character on the borderline of a villain, pls review)

Sorry I haven't been able to get an app up yet, still working on it - been busy IRL.

Also glancing at that very sexy character list, we seem to have a lot of warriors and nobles - I was looking at making a mage/assassin, but do you think we would be better off with some more variety?

We have quite a few rogue/assassin chars, but a mage wouldn't be amiss by any means.

Don't see anything wrong with that.

I might throw in a second character. A human mage so infatuated with the beast folk that they use magic to mimic it, and also to manipulate plant and small animal life around them. Basically a druid with a hard on for man-beasts. Seems like it would be fun.

Name: Natasia Asharev Calinov | The Fallen Lady | The Betrayer
Age: 43
Gender: Female
Race: Dwarf
Appearance:
Image

She stands at about 4'9" and weighs around 85 lbs.
Mage?: Yes

Bio:
Among the more peculiar branches of dwarven culture in the world are the Liudzi. A clan based society, they are grouped around 5 large vaguely related families/clans that for forgotten reasons led an exodus from Ashar to an isle that now bears their name in Treodor. There they became an integral part of Treodori society, crafting the finest flagships for the grand armada and runeforging the best weapons. In addition, the Liudzi have become almost human like both due to interbreeding and breeding with humans, making them slightly taller and more inclined to magic than dwarfs one would find on the mainland. Natasia was born as the third child of the ruling family of the Calinov clan. It was discovered at a young age that she was a talented cryomancer, adept at drawing magic from the air to cause water to freeze around her. Recognizing her talent, her father, the Grand Duke Calinov, sent her to learn at the Ientry School, a Magi college dedicated to Cryomancy high in the mountains of Dascus.

Ientry is a cold and hard place. Known as one of the more brutal Magi schools, it is particularly renowned for the punishment of "shatters" for particularly bad students. A pupil sentenced for shattering will have part of their body selectively frozen and then shattered off. Most bad students in present times only lose a finger or a toe, but in the old days it wasn't uncommon to see students missing a fore arm, or a leg below the knee. Natasia hated it. Though her skills as a mage grew tremendously at the school, it was nothing like her mostly tropical home. She longed for the sea, and she longed for her family. It was this longing that made her vulnerable in the first place, and it caused her to fall in with a bad group of students. While Necromancy wasn't neccisarily frowned upon, and it did have it's own college, fascination with the "darkest art" was rife through Ientry during Natasia's school days, and before she could say no, the young lady was involved with a dread ritual to try and create some form of ice zombie. She didn't realize until it was too late that her "friends" intended to use her life force to raise the creature...

She would have died, cold and alone, underneath a mountain glacier, if it weren't for the actions of her Professor, Sir Jacob Lilling, a human one step from Grand Magi of the academy, and in secret, a Slayer of the Crypt. He had long recognized the potential for an army of Magi Slayers, and after infiltrating the Consortium, had moved a Slayer School right under Ientry and had begun recruiting his students into the Slayers. After Natasia was freed, she found a purpose for her miserable existence in the mountains, and after much prodding (and perhaps a little begging), she convinced Lilling to let her join the Slayers. The Slayer training was brutal, on top of the already brutal Cryomancer training, put Natasia pushed herself, and after much effort, eventually graduated from both academies. She began her career as a slayer hunting down students performing Necromancy at the academy while acting as a teaching assistant for Lilling, who had become Grand Magi of Ientry. Her time in this role would be cut short however, as tragedy struck Natasia's home in Treodor. A volcanic eruption had killed both her father and her older brother while they were examining new mines on an island that their clan owned.

Returning immediately to Liudzi Isle, Natasia mourned her father and brother with her sister, now Grand Duchess Calinov. Agreeing to act as her sister's court magi and advisor, Natasia became an integral part of her family's court, as well as establishing in it a base for any Slayers in need of harbor and missions. As Natasia began to skulk around the islands, it became clear that there was a very powerful, and very dangerous, necromancer beginning to try and pull strings. Nothing much at the moment, a skeletal giant here, a ghoul uprising there, but there were signs of the threat being greater than anything she had ever heard of. After contacting Lilling, Natasia was given a squad of Slayer's with which she would worm out the Necromancer and give him to Ctholes. For the greater part of the next two decades Nat dedicated herself to this task, while also falling in love and having a son with a minor noble in the Calinov court. Finally, after nearly two decades of secret warfare, the group had pinpointed the Necromancer's lair and embarked on a mission to stop him once and for all.

It had been easier than Natasia had thought it would be to fight through the dark abandoned tomb to the central chamber. There the group embarked on one final combat with the dark sorcerer in his lair. Natasia made an error while engaged in magical combat with her foe, and that was it. Her vision went dark, and in the dark she could hear Ctholes's whispers. Peaceful. Then she felt a painful pulling sensation, and the whispers went quiet. Opening her eyes it was... cold... so cold. They were in the depths of a volcanic island, and all she could feel was ice pouring through her veins. In the center of the room stood the necromancer, laughing coldly as he pointed at her, even as a sword was pulled from his chest. Natasia looked at her hands and saw they had turned a pale white. Her blood glowed a pale blue as it slowly coursed through her arms once again. Her head was in a daze until she heard a sword unsheath next to her. Her combat reflexes kicked in, and she drew her own blade, stabbing at the place where the noise had come from. In front of her eyes was a horrific sight. One of her comrades, with a sword through his gut. Her sword. Her hand guiding it. She felt nothing.

The rest of her group tried to kill her. They did not succeed. Emotion compromised their ability to finish the job, and in their weakness, Natasia cut them down. She however, forget to make sure she finished the job, and left before she saw one of her former friends use the greatest gift of a slayer and return to life from death. Slowly making her way back to Liudzi, Natasia felt her emotions, her personality, her being freeze as more of the ice in her veins reached her heart. By the time she returned home, there was a cold and hard shell where before had stood one of the bulwarks of the Slayers. Little is said of the night she returned to the Calinov Villa. It is only spoken of in the Slayer's as the Treodori massacre, and it is only mentioned as a reminder of the greatest betrayal the order has ever suffered. Natasia thought nothing of it. They would have killed her, she had convinced herself long before she even reached the Villa. Her mind twisted, she believed that the slayers in fact were wrong. It was Ctholes's will that the world shall be returned to life. How hypocritical of an order that blesses it's chosen with a revival spell to hate undead.

There were many changes in the Calinov court after that. No longer restricted by her own morals, Natasia quickly took up Necromancy along with her favored Cryomancy. Whispering in her sister's ear, their selection of islands and towns became the hotspot for a new take on the judgement god, one where his selected return to life from death to do more. She perverted her old entrapments of the Slayers, having her sword enchanted with runes that twisted it's purpose, transforming it into a destroyer of the living rather than an executor of the damned. She killed and revived her crow, using it as a sort of listening device to eavesdrop on her former order. Eventually growing bored by her old island home, she bid her sister and now fully grown son goodbye, and boarded a ship bound for Dascus. Once there, hiding some of the true nature of her new gifts, she enlisted as a battle mage in the King's Army, fighting in the war over artifacts both out of some old loyalty to the Magi, and for hope that some of the ancient tablets might reveal more on her condition. She fought at Eckers alongside Prax'ak Dor Molap, and has since been fighting for Dascus in various border skirmishes, leading her to Haden Hill.

Fighting Style: Death Knight/Cryomancy-Necromancy Battle Mage
Abilities:
  • [Cold Blooded]: Natasia is a master of Cryomancy, typically drawing her power to control the ice and cold from the wind or water, but now she also draws it from other living beings when she can. Her favored methods of utilizing these gifts include using large ice spikes as projectiles similar to javelins, freezing enemies in place, and freezing water underneath her feet in order to allow her to walk on water.
  • [Darkest Art]: Natasia is a somewhat skilled necromancer, more aligned with the combat applications of the darkest art over the ritual uses. For example, while she won'r really bother with assembling a flesh hulk, she'll eagerly revive a zombie to serve her on the battlefield, or use her magic to drain someone of their life force to heal herself.
  • [Swordswoman]: Natasia has been trained in the use of a sword, in her case a two handed blade, by the Slayer's of the Crypt, as well as basic training in a number of other weapons.
  • [Undead Boon]: Undeath has had a number of advantages for Natasia. She's faster, stronger, and somewhat more magically gifted because of it.

Limitations:
  • Uncanny Rift: Even for people who don't know Natasia's "affliction" there's something off putting about her. She's supernaturally bewtiching, but not in a good way. The way her eyes and blood glow, her seeming lack of any sort of soul, and her strange echoing voice tend to make most people turn and run.
  • Undead Curse: Being Undead is as much a curse as it is a boon. Normal healing spells no longer help Natasia, in fact they burn her like fire. Her wounds don't heal on their own and require her to drain the life force of her enemies, which can be difficult. It's hard for her to see in bright light, and a number of holy symbols seem to also burn her now.
  • Lack of Fear/Pain: Natasia doesn't feel fear or pain anymore. While this can be seen as a blessing, it has completely removed her self preservation instinct, and takes away from her perception on the battlefield. Being able to hold off a group of soldiers without pain is great, but useless when you can't feel that your hamstring has just been cut.
  • Heartless: Natasia doesn't feel emotion anymore. While this helps with being logical, it also means that anyone who isn't repulsed by her appearance can't really like her, because she's so aloof. It also means that any sort of inspiring ability doesn't really work on her.

Equipment:
  • [Eruvian Armor]: Natasia has taken up one of her families ancestral sets of Eruvian armor. It isn't enchanted but Natasia has taken time to recolor it, add a hood and cloak, and make it more fitting to her new image.
  • [Perverted Blade, Pitnozyc]: Once a proud blade of the Slayer's of the Crypt, Pitnozyc has been twisted and corrupted by Natasia to serve the opposite purpose it was forged with. Where once the undead feared it's power, it now burns the living it cuts, damaging them instead of the damned it was meant for.

Optional Questionnaire
Personal Quest: To find out what exactly has happened to her, and perhaps how to replicate it.
Favorite Factions: The Magi Consortium
Least Favorite Factions: The Slayers of the Crypt
Favorite Memory: She doesn't really have favorites anymore. Before she died it would have been her dual graduation from Ientry and the Slayer's school.
Goals: Master Necromancy and eradicate the Slayers.
Greatest Fear: Feeling again after all she's been able to do without it.
Religion: The Pantheon, specifically her own perverted version of Ctholes.

Oh we have a necromancer now.

Good thing that the idea I have is different from Natasia, at least, so I won't feel terrible about duplication.
I have a severe case of addiction to writing. At least 3k words every day is my fix.

Read my RWBY fanfiction!

Not that he's good at explaining himself any other way.

Lord Calthanius Swyrfe, Grand Mage of the Magi Consortium

So first on powers, after talking to my co-ops
1)Get rid of soul ripping, it is a bit more OP than we are comfortable with and honestly I don't think it fits with the character's other powers. Honestly I'm not exactly sure what discipline of magic the character actually specializes in is, as it is not mentioned in regards to his college. So I would figure out a discipline and stick to it.
2) Lose the Rings of Arcane, it makes most of your limitations moot and also kind of rubs against the way magic is described in the OP.

Also, I would say instead of Grand Mage he should be a vice-mage(second in command of a college) or a Magistrate(which is basically a tenured professor at a college) I would say both ranks would be very impressive for his age.

Finally though the biggest issue still remains the character design. I'm not sure I see how this character fits in with the goals or purpose of the Hammer of Eboris given that his stated goal stands in contrast to what the Hammer is going to be trying to achieve. The backstory is a lot better and more grey, however his goals, allegiance and where you seem to want to take the character don't fit in the RP. If you are set on making him a true villain who is going to openly and actively try to undermind the Hammer I don't think the character fits within the premise of the RP. It is a good character, and a good villain, but unfortunately that doesn't really fit the spirit of this RP.

How do you see this character fitting in with the Hammer? Do you think you would be able/willing to change this character so she is less of a villain? I think it would be hard for this char to participate in the Hammer because of her explicitly evil intentions and history, especially given we have a Slayer of the crypt among the party. One suggestion I have on this front, is that maybe when she becomes undead the Slayers turn on her, and she kills them out of panic and self defense. And because of this she turns against the slayers but still seeks to restore her humanity and is still anti undead?

I will admit though, this is a very well written villain that could actually fit into a questline that we have planned so if you would rather scarp it and start a new one rather than changing her I would be interested as using her as a NPC, with your permission of course.

I don't really see her as a villain, more as a woman scorned by an organization she gave everything to and then was abandoned by. Or at least that's her perspective. I didn't write the other side of the backstory because it was already getting long, but the idea was kind of similar to the Last Jedi, with Luke and Kylo, where a few split second reactions cause a horrible series of events to play out.

I'll go back and rephrase the goals a bit, but what I meant to convey is that she's seeking to understand her condition and maybe cure it, but since she's now tasted the forbidden fruit (necromancy), she's tempted to spread it. She's meant to be more of a character on the Razor's edge at this point. If she does end up going villainous, than she can be played as a lesser of two evils, to be allied with and then dealt with once the greater threat is gone.

Okay I see that a bit more now, I think I misinterpreted some of the bio but going back and rereading I agree she hasn't necessarily done much villainy yet. I think it might be somewhat difficult to get her to fit in with some of the others, Abs' Slayer in particular, but I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. So I think this works, accepted.

Name:Alexius Pavos
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance (pics if possible):Alexius
Mage?: Yes
Bio:
Born the son of famous Dascus scholar, who was considered one of the preeminent minds on magical theory, Alexius was born into an intellectually rich, but emotionally lacking household. His father while a kind man, was not exactly the type to relate children, leaving most of his care to his mother and their servants. For this reason the two had a distant and somewhat uneasy relationship until Alexius' abilities manifested themselves at the age of eight. Galen Pavos' eyes sparkled when he saw his son's fingers crackle with electricity and from that point on the two were much closer. Galen became an encouraging, if demanding, mentor and Alexius thrived under his tutelage. At 16 he entered the College of Thunder, the Consortium college that specialized in storm magic, and studied directly under his father who was a Magistrate in the school. He spent six long years studying and honing his craft, and making valuable friendships along the way as well. At age 22 he was named a mage of the first order, meaning that he was no longer an apprentice and officially held rank as a mage. Know teaching and researching at the college, with his father's admiration, Alexius' life was going exactly as planned.

Until the dreams started.

One day Alexius woke up in a cold sweat, having had a dream where he saw his friend Rodrick die in a alchemy accident. An experiment he was doing went wrong and he died from an explosion. He tried to warn his superiors, his father, but no one believed him and told him he simply wasn't feeling well. However Alexius' was undeterred and rushed over to Rodrick's office and prevented the explosion.

For weeks he would have these dreams and prevent the bad ones from passing until one day he was visited in the dead of night by an older man in robes. He told Alexius that he was a Keeper of the Glass, and that Alexius must stop interfering with his dreams and instead embrace them. Alexius was incredulous at the suggestion that he should let his friend die, until the man showed him evidence that Rodrick was in fact preparing a potion that could infect thousands with a deadly disease and was preparing to sell it to local lord.

Horrified, Alexius listened as the mysterious man explained that his visions came from Sualdir. He encouraged the young mage to seek out Sualdir's temple in the nearby city of Vashen so that his training could begin. After about week of maddening internal debate, Alexius went to his father's office to inform him he was leaving the order to join the Keepers.

His father was incredulous. They were followers of Magika after all, and never paid much attention to the Pantehon. He grew furious that his son would give up his future for what he mostly considered to be folklore. They had a huge fight and Alexius set off on his own for Vashen. When he arrived he was indoctrinated with the history and teachings of the Keepers as well as trained in the power of time manipulation.

Six years later and Alexius is now a dedicated member of the keepers, and seeks to uphold Sualdir's will at all personal cost. Recently however he has received his most earth shattering and disturbing vision yet. It is one that would change not only the fate of the world, but Alexius' life as well. Bound to see Sualdir's vision come to pass, Alexius has joined the Dascus army at Haden Hill to see that destiny unfolds.
Fighting Style:Mage Caster
Abilities:
  • Storm Spellcasting: Alexius specializes in the storm discipline of magical casting and can use his staff to create powerful attacks involving wind, thunder, and lightening.
  • Time Manipulation: With the power granted by his sacred oath with Sualdir, Alexius can momentarily slow down time around him. This requires an incantation and a great deal of focus.
  • Gift of Sight: Being a Keeper of the Glass, Alexius has visions and dreams that vividly depict events from the future. Sometimes they are small inconsequential events, other times they are life altering.

Limitations:
  • Obligation- Keepers are required to ensure the passing of their dreams, regardless of the consequences for themselves. If they fail to uphold the future, not only will the Honor Guild hunt them down, they will lose their ability to see the future.
  • Energy drain- Both time manipulation and storm magic require a great deal of energy, particularly time manipulation, and if exerts himself too much it could be fatal.
  • Close Quarter Combat- Alexius is most useful as a ranged fighter, and can do little about an armored charging enemy.

Equipment:
  • Staff Alexius' staff is surprisingly ordinary for his status. It is simply made of enchanted wood with an onyx based orb at its center.
  • Armor Alexius wears the armor featured in his picture
  • Assorted books When traveling Alexius carriers a backpack with books both for entertainment and for necessary information

Optional Questionnaire
Personal Quest: Reunite with his father
Favorite Factions: The Keepers, the Magi Consortium, the Honor Guild
Least Favorite Factions: The Holy Order of Fire, the wanderers
Favorite Memory: Being read to by his parents
Goals: To fulfill Sualdir's will and by doing so, save the world
Greatest Fear: Interfering with fate
Religion: Formerly Magika, now worshiper of Sualdir

If allowed, I might make a second character. Possibly for the express purpose of LEGS.
I'm an ATHEIST COMMUNIST from AUSTRALIA with CELTIC HERITAGE, ASPERGERS and a keen interest in FLAGS.
Pro: Communism, secularism, democracy, communalism, unions, mutual respect of people as humans, science.
Anti: Capitalism, theism's stranglehold on society, dictatorship, enforced respect (SJWs, anti-blasphemy laws etc.), creationism.
I will respect you. If your ideas are stupid, I won't respect those, and don't ask me to.
Fairly poor socialist country, recently revolted against a monarchistic state and with an economy rising slowly.
I am a fan of classical, experimental and indie music.
Will eat Brussels Sprouts, but only raw ones. I cannot abide cooked ones.
