KATHERINIA, Pekweng- A bomb was exploded near the Manrique Palace during the Independence Day gathering in line with the celebration of Pekwengnian Independence Day.

The improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered hidden inside a karaoke box and detonated during the celebration. 25 people were killed in the incident while almost 1,500 attendees at the event were wounded, 16 of them are critically wounded.

According to Police Major General Delfin Espino, Chief of Katherinia Police District, he said that the bomb was put in a manner that the police did not detect it even they had searched with bomb sniffing dogs and security equipments.

Brigadier General Geronimo Calzado, Jr. , Commander of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) said in an interview that the bombing was near the Palace, within 25 feet from its entrance. No one from the Manrique Palace was hurt in the incident.

Islamic State (IS) terrorists claimed responsibility for the bombing and they promised to continue to wipe out Pekweng.

The Pekwengnian National Police put the capital on heightened alert after the incident, and police visibility are increased on public areas.
President Rodrigo Santillan condemned the bombing, saying that it shows gross disrespect and hatred to the Pekwengnian people.

Santillan orders the Armed Forces of Pekweng to neutralize the terrorists in Southern Pekweng. In an ambush interview, he was greatly distressed on the incident and calls Pekwengnian to unite in this time of great need.

Seconds after the bombing, social media in Pekweng were flooded by pictures and videos relating to the incident and posting messages with #PrayForPekweng.

President Santillan was in Camp Vicente Gallaga in Texico to celebrate the Independence Day. In his Independence Day Message, he stated that Pekwengnians must cherish the independence that the nation endured for its progress and uplift the country through the inspiration of the heroes who fought for freedom.

"Let us commit ourselves to ensure that their sacrifices have not been in vain and that their dream of a truly independent Pekweng – whose people live freely in a secure, stable, and prosperous society – will be achieved within our lifetimes," said in the message.

The loss of life as well as the extent of injuries is shocking, and is a testament to the heartlessness and cruelty of the suspected terrorists who committed this barbaric act.

Though our peoples are divided by faith, nevertheless we offer our prayers to your nation and your people in this time of grief.

My government wishes to offer any assistance that we can. If we could send a medical mission to help, we would gladly do so, or possibly assist in any enquiries that might help identify any possible suspects.

ON THE BOMBING AT MANRIQUE PALACE COMPLEX ON 12 JUNE 2019

As we celebrate the anniversary of our independence, we commemorate the sacrifices and hardships of our heroes and heroines who fought for our freedom. We also commend our fellow countrymen who serve in different fields of work both in public and private sectors of our society who bring much progress and prosperity that our nation strives for.

During our festive mood on 12 June 2019, outside the Manrique Palace, regarded as the seat of power and symbol of authority among Pekwengnians, a bombing incident was reported and 25 were brutally killed by the terrorist groups who mercilessly sow seeds of division and hatred among citizens of good standing and united in one goal.

I, being the President of Pekweng, condemn in the strongest means the bombing of Manrique Palace as it bring down the security of the state and the prosperity of the nation.

I personally thank New Edom and Borovan entered the region as he for their deepest symphaties and support for safety of the nation. I urge them to help to neutralize the terrorists and to give due lasting peace.

It may be bombed, it may kill many people, but not our dear nation.

Terrorists capture South Pekweng, Santillan triggers Martial Law

KATHERINIA, Pekweng- President Rodrigo Santillan places the southern part of Pekweng into martial law after terrorists had bombed the Manrique Palace Complex last Independence Day on June 12.

The declaration happened an hour after the news had broken when the same terrorists who bombed the Palace grounds, made their way into the southern part of the country.

After the incident, the President issued a order to find the suspects, but they failed as the terrorists launched an escape towards the Manguerra River heading to the Llagas Bay. They reportedly sailed to the south through a medium-sized private ship that was caught by the terrorists.

After landing on the southern part, on the Tayawan Island, the terrorists make way immediately and place the Black Flag of Islamic State and mutilated the Pekwengnian Flag, pressing anger and fear among the residents.

The residents were forced by them to leave their houses to join them or else they will be killed. There were estimated 2,330 had been affected, with 30 people killed in the said incident.

The Armed Forces of Pekweng immediately took action and made a counter-attack by sending troops to kill the terrorists. At the time of writing, the Barangays Nelson Vino, Marcoleta, and Vicencio are now controlled by the terrorists. The AFP Reserve Command will be called if the troops needed for backup.

The President urged neighboring nations to help secure peace and order in the country. Social media in Pekweng flooded with messages of support and sympathy with #PrayForPekweng and #PekwengNeedsPeace.

BY THE PRESIDENT OF PEKWENG PROCLAMATION NO. 327

DECLARING A STATE OF MARTIAL LAW
AND SUSPENDING THE PRIVILEGE OF THE
WRIT OF HABEAS CORPUS IN THE WHOLE OF TAYAWAN

WHEREAS, Proclamation No 55, series of 2019, was issued on 12 June 2019 declaring a state of national emergency on account of lawless violence in Tayawan;

WHEREAS, Section 18, Article VII of the Constitution provides that x x In case of invasion or rebellion, when the public safety requires it, he (the President) may, for a period not exceeding sixty days, suspend the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus or place Pekweng or any part thereof under martial law;

WHEREAS, Article 134 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by RA No 6968, provides that "the crime of rebellion or insurrection is committed by rising and taking arms against the Government for the purpose of removing from the allegiance to said Government or its laws, the territory of the Honorable Commonwealth of Pekweng or any part thereof, of any body of land, naval or other armed forces, or depriving the Chief Executive or the Legislature, wholly or partially, of any of their powers or prerogatives":

WHEREAS, last 12 June 2019, the terrorist group improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered hidden inside a karaoke box and detonated during the celebration within the Palace Grounds, inflicted casualties on the pad of Government forces and citizens,

WHEREAS, today, 19 June 2019, after landing on the southern part, on the Tayawan Island, the terrorists make way immediately mutilated the Pekwengnian Flag, pressing anger and fear among the residents, started flying the flag of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in several areas, thereby openly attempting to remove from the allegiance to the Pekwengnian Government this part of the country and deprive the Chief Executive of his powers and prerogatives to enforce the laws of the land and to maintain public order and safety in Tayawan, constituting the crime of rebellion; and

WHEREAS, this recent attack shows the capability of the terrorist group and other rebel groups to sow terror, and cause death and damage to property not only in Tayawan, but also in other parts of Sotuthern Pekweng;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO SALVADOR SANTILLAN, President of the Honorable Commonwealth of Pekweng, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and by law, do hereby proclaim. as follows:

SECTION 1. There is hereby declared a state of martial law in Southern Pekweng for a period not exceeding sixty days, effective as of the date hereof.
SECTION 2. The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall likewise be suspended in the aforesaid area for the duration of the state of martial law.

-The Government troops finds hard way to enter Tayawan Island as nearly 500 rebels had been sighted in the island. There are already 50 deaths from the soldiers.
