It has been several long decades since the Bradley Fighting Vehicle was implemented into the US Military. The Jack of all trades, it was able to perform in all roles in an acceptable manner, but it was not exceptional in those regards. With the Humvee being replaced by the JLTV, it became apparent some advancements were required in the AFV role. Nothing substantial, however, as there were no suitable replacements at the time. It was agreed that the Stryker Vehicle Series (more specifically the M1128) were suitable to not replace the Bradley, but support them. An updated version of the M1128, it was designed to be suitable for a long needed replacement for the M551 Sheridan. Plans were made to extend the turret ring as well as its hull, slightly, to make use of the M1 Abrams 120mm Smoothbore Cannon. Testing will be done in 2025, after a prototype is made. President Stewart and the Secretary of Defense would approve of these measures, and if the newer M1128b (as it was dubbed) was approved, 2,500 would be ordered.

Adopting several policies, which only poured gasoline on the fire, he believed one last one was required. Despite agreeing to the Sarawak Conference in Kuching, America was going to completely support Malaysia. Two Air Wings were to be dedicated to Malaysia, mostly in Guarding Malaysias homeland, as well, various planes will be sold to Malaysia, or lended. The New Nigerian Football Federation
The Nigerian Football recently selected a new head, one Kanu Nwankwo, the famous Arsenal and Portsmouth footballer, often credited as the founder of Nigerian Football. Recently graduating with a masters in Business from Kings College London. He was elected to take the 1 year vacant position. With him he brought numerous reforms and rebrandings. First and foremost he rebranded the Nigerian Football Federation as the Nigerian Football Union, before signing a deal to create the Union Sports Channel, Nigeria's first Sports News Station, along with it he signed a deal with sports Illustrated to produce Sports Illustrated Africa, focusing on the world of African Football, Basketball, and Sports. He then focused on connecting teams and leagues to sponsors, but not before rebranding the leagues themselves, The Nigerian Professional Football League became the Nigerian Premiership, and the Nigerian National League became the Nigerian Football Championships. Meanwhile the Nigerian Nationwide League with a total of 80 teams was divided into the A League, the B League, and the C League. Each with 30 teams. Anything below the C league would be considered non-league, and would be managed under indirect supervision by the Nigerian Football Union. The Union then began connecting the leagues with sponsorships, the The Nigerian Premiership became the Alibaba Nigerian Premiership, the Nigerian Football Championships became the Shoprite NFC. The A League became Bank of China A League. The B League became the Air Nigeria B League. Finally the C League became the Nigerian Breweries C League.

The Leagues weren't the only one to become larger, with a large influx in cash flow through Nigeria, Nigerians were now able to afford to go to games, and teams began to fill out stands every single game. This began to attract foreign owners. MFM FC, a small team on the outskirts of Lagos was bought by City Football Group and rebranded Ikeja City FC, with a new blue Uniform, and sponsorship by Etihad, a new stadium was immediately announced in downtown Ikeja, and would be known as the Ikeja Center, with an estimated Capacity of around 60,000, compared to MFM's current stadium which holds about 5,600. Ikeja City's new uniforms will be produced by Puma as per agreement between City Football and Puma.

Niger Tornadoes was bought by Red bull to become the Niger Red Bulls FC. The city of Minna with nearly 400,000 people only has a stadium of 5,000; so redbull agreed to build the Red Bull Stadium, with an estimated capacity of 30,000. New Uniforms would be produced by Adidas.

The Shooting Stars FC was purchased by Air Emirates, and renamed Real Ibadan FC, with a new Red and light blue color scheme similar to that of West Ham United. The Lekan Salami Stadium is being replaced by the Emirates Football Park in Downtown Ibadan with a capacity of 48,000, up from 10,000 in the old stadium.

Sunshine Stars FC in the 600,000 strong city of Akure is being purchased by Nestle, with a new name and logo, the Akure Stars FC. The old 8,000 capacity stadium will be replaced with a new 45,000 Capacity Stadium, South Deer Park.

Kano Pillars, the most successful team in Nigerian Football has been purchased by Turki Al-Sheikh, the King of Middle Eastern Football. It's chief sponsor is Deutsche Telecom, and it will play in the Al-Kano Stadium with a capacity of 80,000. The team is getting a new logo and color scheme with a brown-gold scheme. The Kano Pillars signed a deal with Puma to produce their Uniforms.

The Final Big Sponsorship was the Enugu Rangers, purchased by Xu Jiayin. The City of Enugu with a population of nearly 800,000 only has the largest stadium in Nigeria with 30,000 capacity; however this stadium was built in the 70s and has fallen into disrepair. The new stadium will be the Everlast Stadium with a capacity of 65,000.

New Football Academy System
The Nigerian Academy System has been criticized for allowing players to be swindled and sold into slavery or prostitution. With a better police station and more competent government the Nigerian Academy System has been reformed, stricter control over the curriculum has seen the modernization of practices and facilities. Players and their Families are informed about the problem and how to combat, furthermore European trainers/coaches, Fernando Santos and Arsene Wenger have been brought to Nigeria to revamp and lead the new Academies. A tier system has been created, the bottom tier is made up of over 15,000 Amateur/Semi-Proffesional Trainers, and are increasingly monitored, communication links between the third tier and the second tier have been established to ensure that the best players are brought up to the next level. The next tier is made up of around 80 low tier football academies, these players are guaranteed to play professionally at the very least in Asian, African, or American leagues. The final tier is the Great Academies, of which their are ten. Players in this tier are guaranteed a spot in the European or Nigerian Leagues and are very high skill. Trainers largely from Europe have been brought into to strengthen the ranks of this area and force their teaching methods on African trainers and coaches. Furthermore school leagues have been formed with schools now sporting Basketball and Football teams so players may get further development in school, as well as establish school spirit and unity.

Nigerian Media Boom
Nigerian TV Networks were formerly disorganized, however, in 2025 3 African entrepreneurs founded three new African Telecommunications, the first of their kind in Nigeria. These were NextVision, NigerTelecom, and Lukaplex. These three communication companies agreed with the government to divide market shares setting General Communcation Lines, shared by the three companies, and Corporate Communication Lines, operated by the companies themselves. These three companies began operating phone services, pushing out the little influence foreign competitors had in the market. They then made deals with Nigerian Channels to create Television Branches, thus becoming the primary TV Providers in Nigeria. NextVision became the first to bring in foreign TV, making deals with South African Studios and the BBC to show their programs in their network. Seeing this, NigerTelecom invited AlJazeera, Nickelodeon, and NBC to begin operating channels in Africa on their network, this create Al Jazeerah Nigeria, Nickelodeon Nigeria, and NBC Africa, all headquartered in Kano. LukaPlex, not to be left out, invited Disney and their subsidiaries ABC and ESPN to begin operating for their station. Disney accepted how ESPN pulled out do to tense competition from the previously established Union Sports Network. These channels all then made deals to be viewed on the other providers. The three providers then started their own mobile streaming apps, pushing Netflix out of the region, the three providers agreed to combine their networks and sell them to Pokka which already held much of the Market share. Pokka went on to make deals with Hulu and Netflix to show their exclusives on the Pokka network, provided Pokka pay and undisclosed amount of money in return. Meanwhile, the 2026 Television investment by the Nigerian government modernized the various african channels rapidly increasing their quality, the Animation Network, started at the beginning of 2027 to great success featuring a total of 13 new animated shows geared toward children.

Calabar, the African Las Vegas
In 2026, Calabar announced a plan to become the Gambling Capital of Africa, in an agreement with the federal government, Gambling restrictions were tightened in the rest of the country, but laxed in Calabar to give the industry their a quick jumpstart. The Commercial port was quickly modernized to become a stopping point for Cruise Ships and provide an outlet for foreign equipment to make it's way to the city. Meanwhile, city officials made an Agreement with MGM Entertainment and Sands Las Vegas to open 4 Large Casinos by 2028, these would be the Grand Arabia, the Dragon, the Incan, and the Tribal. Further smaller casinos would be developed by Hilton Hotels and Holiday Inn, with 6 smaller scale casinos developed by them, these being the Algiers, the Luca, the Santa Maria, the Tropico, the Parisian, and the Patrician Casino. The 6 smaller casinos opened in the mid summer of 2027 to great success with people from the surrounding areas coming to see the new experience. The larger casinos are nearing completion, and with in the event they succeed, MGM and Sands Las Vegas agreed to open the MGM Nigeria and the Venetian Calabar, respectively.

With increasing of the average wage of Nigerians to nearly 7,000 USD. Nigerians are finally able to afford some luxuries, one of which is quickness. Mcdonalds and KFC both announced plans to open new restaurants in Africa McDonalds opened it's first restaurant in Africa in downtown Abuja in October of 2027, with a plan to open seven more in the area in the next year. Meanwhile KFC has opened it's first restaurant in Kano, a Halal friendly fast food chain, the restaurant has already opened 3 more restaurants in the northern city, with a plan to open another 14 in the next year in the northern area. Not to be outdone, Burger King announced plans to open 11 Burger Kings over the next two years in Nigeria, with their first restaurant set to open in January of 2028 in Lagos. Seven 11, the king of speedy service chains in developing countries has announced a plan to open 150 locations by 2035. So far 12 have been opened in the Biafran region serving their signature slurpies, snacks, and serving gas. However African Chains have learned from their American Counterparts. 2 Nigerian Fast Food Chains, Olympia, and Metro Cafe, have begun to open restaurants throughout the region. Olympia serving Mediterranean Dishes, while Metro Cafe is determined to become the Dunkin Donuts of Africa, serving Koeksister, a South African style confection, and Nigerian Coffee. Olympia currently operates 37 locations, while Metro Cafe operates 38.

A group of weary men walked half sunk in mud and thoughtless gloom, they dragged themselves across a scorched plain without words to speak or melodies to sing for they could not utter words with their bonds of shame. Once banners where flung over their shoulders, the crocuses of their women proudly on chest and their silver hafts glimmering in the midsummer's sun. Those time were now past, they had taken it all: the new comers had laid fire upon their homes, burnt their crops and had taken their riches. With impenetrable steel they had slaughtered their children and brothers to only leave a trail of tearing widows, with wooden crosses they had replaced native trees and beliefs of old, they had hewed the oak of their ancestors with neither guilt or shame. For the battle for Selija had been lost by ambush; they fled in shameful exile.

The thirty left were lead by a shaking man, whose masculine frame seemed weakened by the onslaught of battle, named Visvaldis Duke of Selija. The wrinkles and crevices of age upon his face where hidden by the mask of dried blood and seemingly scorched mud upon his face, he did not fit the bill of a Duke with his tattered half ripped clothes and solemn sunken eyes, that masked the looks of a leader. He had now only to live with shame, the ruler of the Daugava river and his company had now become prey to a host from far away lands, 'better to have died than to have come late' he repeated to himself in drifting thoughts over and over again. As they pointlessly walked to their fate, out of the lines of history, the moon had began to raise; now even the moon looked different, it's deathly pale glare reminding them of their failure and fall.

A young boy amongst the company spoke out with a hint of hope in his voice "We must come to Tālivaldis, he will help us. My father knew him, he's a good man. He will help our home!" Silence again filled the air after the breakthrough of his high voice. Visvaldis forced himself to speak once more "He is a traitor, he's an ally of the German tribe. He'd slaughter us on site like animals if we would come to his land; don't mention again the name of Tālivaldis for he has forsaken his own home, Tālava." A hissing anger again outlined the essence of his voice.

A man's voice, coming behind his right shoulder, exclaimed in response "They took your wife, they took our homes. Why don't we do something about it, make them pay." The Duke remained silent once more, trapped in his own thoughts and flowing emotions. "They took your wife, they took Nerimante. Are you a man or are you like him, a traitor and a coward hiding in a wooden shack?" Suddenly his own happiness had come to mind, the women of his life, and filled him with a feeling of courage and hope which slashed through the darkness which clouded his mind. Suddenly he sprang up tall, tearing down his muddied cape, his men looked up to him and saw once again a mighty and heroic figure who neither falters or stumbles on obstacle or burden. In some way they felt a tingle of bravery down their spines while looking onto their Duke who now seemed to posses the strength to move the very moon above his shoulders. He had returned to his senses, an unyielding force pounding in his chest.

In time they would make their last stands as free men, the final freemen of Old Latvia for thousands of years to come. Despite this the dust of years, decades and centuries would pound away their deeds and cover them under a cloud of mystery; while yet their blood of fearlessness and the wild would live through all the lifetimes of tyrants and oppressors to come after. For if there is one breathing man of their decent, the Balts live on.

2028 A.D

Technology may have changed, the tools in which one dominates another may have changed from knife to words, but the instinctive struggle between peoples across the planet has not. As the Germans of Western Europe had came upon Baltic lands to subjugate, the Germans of the European Federation have come to subjugate. This is the very fundamental idea of the newly established doctrine and international approach of the Latvian Republic under the leadership of KPV-LV, while it remains unspoken publicly, Latvian contemporary intellectual circles deem it a fit description. If genetic memory where proven true, they would even perhaps argue that the diplomatic approach is truly natural and an effect of past encounters with foreigners which did not end in a positive light.

Yet it remains deeply true that the modern world is ever corporate, ever competitive and ever globalised. With such a world it is easy to become fearful of losing your local butcher down the street or blacksmith on the corner of main street. This paranoia could be the reason why Latvia is loosing touch with the policies of Brussels or even perhaps why they voted for a Populist political party to govern themselves. Of course this is only a small spectrum of views on the shifting domestic and international policies of the Republic, if you asked a regular citizen on the causes of these changes they would respond with 'a want for true independence and self governance away from foreign control'.

Whatever the reason may be, the country's approach to the world is changing after roughly three decades of renewed independence. Only time will reveal what the final outcome shall be for the country on the Baltic shore.

Vienseta Project - The Regionalism Approach

The Vienseta Project is actively being updated and worked on ever since the President announced her support: an official logo has been created, media presence established and interviews between members and TV reporters manifested. The next step of the project was to begin a social media outreach to preserve Latvian ties and culture online and slowly but surely attract those who left back into the country. Numerous tactics for this goal have been created, the first to be mentioned is the drawing of attention to the project and emigration prospects to Latvia through social media influencers and entertainers. A second tactic following this has been the establishment of multiple social media sites explaining the benefits of coming homeward. The final tactic has been working with interviewers and documentary makers abroad to influence the decisions of the Latvian diaspora.

After the social media set up came the idea of utilising regional councils to devote some expenditure to attract the return of Latvian diaspora to their respective lands. This tactic had been previously utilised by only once city in Latvia in the 2010s with some success. The encouragement for councils to do so is the fact that new residents would reinvest in an area through paying taxes and utilising local businesses. In a way this method could be considered an approach from the ideology of regionalism.

Throughout the past month, the People's Republic of China has undergone an unprecedented political transformation. After former Chairman Hu returned from the failed Kuching Peace Conference, he was met with a Standing Politburo that carried a much different tone, being the day following the Million Man Protest in Beijing. The Politburo ambushed Hu at their following meeting in which he was forced out of office, immediately followed by the introduction of Chairman Li Keqiang, former Premier under Xi Jinping. The final meeting of the People's Congress was held before Li took a moment to speak to both his Congress and the Chinese nation.

"People and Congressmen alike of the People's Republic of China, it is an honor to be speaking to you for the first time as your Chairman. I stand before you with the burden of the Chinese people on my shoulders, observing the failures of the previous administration. So, I come to you with a heavy heart, and the crimes of former Chairman Hu Chunhua in an effort of full transparency. Two days ago, the MSS concluded their investigation on Hu; they have found ties to western agencies leaking back as early as 2015 with documents from the American CIA, British MI6, the Japanese PSIA, and any number of other western institutions invested in the downfall of the Chinese system to allow for our foreign exploitation. MSS has also discovered significant gaps in funds moving towards as many as 30 government departments, totaling to nearly ¥50 billion, which has been discovered to coincide with Hu's activities in the Chinese state," he takes a breath for a moment and looks around the room.

"Meanwhile even you, the People's Congress, have been cheated and abused, your ability to stand in the way of the destruction of China stifled by the corruption of a man simply looking for a payday from western institutions. Beijing, China: Supreme People's Court

Six days ago, and two days before President Li gave his speech to the People's Congress, Hu Chunhua was taken into custody by the Ministry of State Security and transported to an undisclosed location before being moved to Beijing for trial. As the armored truck he was being held in pulled in front of the Supreme People's Court, he was met with a crowd of hundreds, maybe thousands, of Chinese citizens calling for his arrest in front of the SPC, similar demonstrations happening all over the nation. Though how many of which were planted by the Li administration to increase the appearance of anti-Hu sentiment is unknown.

The Supreme Court looked down on Hu and called his sentencing: numerous counts of corruption, collusion with foreign powers, and embezzlement of funds from state ministries. A total of twelve people were called up to speak, most of which presenting infallible evidence that Hu committed treason against the People's Republic of China. The most principle of which was Deng Wuhan, Shao Yun, and Duan Fang; three vote-counters for the People's Congress who, in exchange for their testimony on the rigging of several votes within the Congress, were pardoned. The trial lasted two hours, with the demonstrations being held outside the entire duration. In the end, Hu was sentenced to life in prison in Qincheng Prison after being stripped of all his assets, which were subsequently re-invested in education; a move which Li called "giving back to the people what was taken from them"

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Wang Yi, Foreign affairs Director of the Office of Foreign Affairs, touches down in Kuala Lumpur in a secret meeting with the Malaysian Government. Several weeks prior, Hu Chinuha was forced out of office by party insiders in a no-confidence vote. Wang had been appointed by Li not long after, and was in Malaysia to "fix the mess Hu had caused"

Wang walks into the meeting room flanked by a number of envoys from China and shakes the hand of the Malay Minister of Home Affairs, "Good afternoon, Mr. Ibrahim. I hope you are in good health?"

"I would like to iterate that it was Hu's policy to take the route he did with Sarawak; pushed by Western collusion into destructive decision after destructive decision for the Chinese nation. Li Keqiang and my Directory attended a meeting last Friday where we discussed both the implications of Sarawakan Independence and the vast damage that would be reigned across the South East Asian region and we have concluded that Hu's policy of Sarawakan support was erroneous in both concept and execution. The People's Republic of China would like to discuss covert military-industrial support of the Malaysian Federation."

"Ah. I am pleased to see Li Keqiang understands and respects the relationship between Malaysia and China. It was of original intent of our government since 2018 to deepen ties with the Eastern world, and I am glad to see the Chinese are willing to respect such an agreement. Combat in Sarawak especially will be difficult due to the large swathes of jungles and cover. Furthermore the city of Kuching has just been captured by the rebels. What do the generals from Beijing recommend to quell the revolt?"

Wang turns to General Liu Lei, who takes a moment to consider, "I'll be honest, Mr. Ibahim, I anticipated this to be more on the nature of Chinese-Malay cooperation rather than the nature of war movements directly. However, I would recommend doing your best to keep Sarawakan aircraft from taking to the skies, being the most contentious battlefield, by taking out runways in high-altitude bombing campaigns while also using your far superior navy from keeping supplies from reaching Sarawak, though there's not much that can be done to keep them from going through the jungles of Borneo, it would slow down the passage of supplies. Iranian Nuclear Physicist gunned down in home, People’s Mujahideen of Iran claims responsibility

On August 3rd at approximately 6 in the morning, the humble abode of Iran's leading nuclear physicist Dr. Arman Farhad was invaded by three gunmen armed with AK-47s, firing upon all inhabitants in the home, which included Dr. Farhad's wife and his twin three year old girls. The attackers left nobody in the house alive. Shortly after local news and authorities revealed the death of Dr. Farhad and the gunmen apprehended, a group by the name of the “People’s Mujahideen of Iran” (MEK) claimed responsibility for the attack.

The People’s Mujahideen of Iran is a previously Maoist left-wing rebel group considered a terrorist organization by the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq, and was formerly considered a terrorist group by the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Canada until 2012. The group is known to have connections with the Israeli Mossad since 1990 and has been alleged of receiving support from the United States back in the pre-Hampton War on Terror era. Furthermore, US officials in 2014 have alleged that it was MEK collaborating with the Israeli intelligence apparatus to assassinate Iranian nuclear scientists. Though, Iranian investigators have not stated whether or not they believe Mossad was responsible for this specific assassination.

The group, despite it’s strange history and ideology, has been regarded as being a key non-state opponent to the Islamic Republic of Iran. It’s main advantage over other Middle Eastern opponents to the revolutionary Islamic Republic is that it possessed connections within the country, something Western intelligence and many non-state opponents severely lacked. A spokesperson for MEK being interviewed by Millenium Chronicle owner Eric Ancel at the group’s HQ in Manez, Albania, was quick to inform Mr. Ancel about the organization’s involvement in the assassination. The spokesperson was quick to justify the killing of Dr. Farhad, claiming that a nuclear Iran would only serve to cement the “tyrannical control” of the Ayatollah and mullahs. No further comment was provided regarding this attack.

The recently renewed ‘Human Reproduction Update’ for the current year has indicated that a total drop of 58% has occurred in the potency of sperm for male individuals, living in western nations, from 1973 to 2028. This indication of lower male fertility, combined the ever more increasing life expectancy in Europe has contributed significantly to the ‘greying of Europe’ effect. Just recently the U.K has hit a 21% mark in it’s percentage of the population being 65+ years old, while Germany and France remain in the rough 23-24% margin. The largest problem which has arasin from this has been a miniscule drought of employees, an aspect which threatens to become worse with the continuation of an increase in elders. This unanswered fertility problem poses serious issues for the future of Europe’s economy on the global market, while not being a ‘Children of men’ dystopian scenario, it’s threatens to see Europe as only a place for old men.

Some of the hallmarks of a socially advanced Western society: readily available contraception, equal opportunity for women in the workplace and advanced medication for the elderly have all contributed to the decline of populations in Europe and it’s aging. The addition of increased male infertility, a neglected concern from the 2010s, has, to put it simply, injured the wings of European stork. The Human reproduction update has given no answers or solutions to the issue, researchers and academics have blamed environmental chemicals which disrupt hormones as a possible answer.

Some opposition has arisen to the Romanian government’s plans to construct and expand the Ploiești oil industry with reasons cited by many, mostly younger generation, protestors as: destruction of natural beauty, disruption to wildlife and a decrease in living standards for neighbouring citizens of the area. The main organizer of the protests has been a well known political activist and current senior Senator for Bucharest: Florina-Raluca Presadă, she has expressed a passionate call of opposition against the rampant exploitation of the natural resources nearby to the small town. She has strongly argued for better Romanian environmental oversight and representation of the community affected by the oil field expansion. The movement has mainly garnered traction through social media and has utilised younger, more environmentally concerned, Romanians as to express some distaste to Adrian Florin-Dobre’s plans. There have been calls by members of the public and highly esteemed environmentalists for the resignation of Dobre, some individuals have even gone as far to say that he is treasonous by selling Romanian natural beauty to firms.

In a recent statement to TVR1, Florina has had this statement to say: “I plead for the reconsideration of this policy. We need to look at real energy, green, solar, all of that as you know. This isn’t it. We’ll run out, and then what? Again it’s not sustainable and is destructive.”

It is yet known how the Government of Romania will respond to these recent developments, and if they will forsake the fruits of short term economic success for the benefits of keeping its people satisfied.

In an unsurprising final day election result, the Polish Political party ‘Law and Justice’ has achieved another victory in it’s streak from 2015. Although, despite the general base line of conservatism in Poland, the party known as Civic Platform has increased it’s seats from the previous election due to an increase of vote share for the Progressive party known as ‘Modern’. Even with the granted victory by the Polish public, it remains unforeseen if PiS can operate and evolve it’s doctrine in a newly emerging modern world as to keep it’s political unity.

Despite the relative calmness of this election cycle, some tensions has boiled over on social media with some arguments ensuing that Poland is becoming a ‘undemocratic one party dictatorship’ and have referred to the current state of Polish politics as regressing to the direction of Russia’s political system. These claims seem to be backed by Polish liberal media organizations such as Gazeta Wyborcza and the main political opposition of PiS which is Civic Platform. The increased political victories of the Polish conservative party, coupled by a lack of representation for the Polish liberals and left wing, has continually contributed to the radicalization of the main voting block of Civic Platform: higher class people with an extensive education. The symptoms of a politically polarized society in Poland are beginning to manifest visibly after this election, threatening to worsen through ripples of Conservative legislation and the possible impending leadership changes of opposing political entities and parties.

IUCN declares the Baiji extinct

The Baiji, a species of river dolphin, is now extinct, says the IUCN. The iconic cetacean had long been a poster child for conservation in the Yangtze river, which had long suffered from noise and industrial pollution. The species had been declared functionally extinct in 2006, and though later sightings produced some hope for the species survival, these were only stragglers. The People’s Republic of China tried their best to save the species, and their impressive pro-conservation policies helped to restore the Yangtze River and increase the population in other threatened species. But despite being well-studied, and having one of the most powerful nations fighting to keep them alive, the Baiji succumbed to low population count. Ultimately, the Baiji’s fate goes to show that not even recent conservation efforts can mitigate the ongoing extinction crisis.

a. Israel's establishment of illegal settlements in Palestine;
b. Palestine's conduct of violent activities against Israel, including the periods of intensified violence termed "Intifada".

5. Defines the end of the Israel-Palestine Conflict as:
a. Mutual recognition of both the states of Israel and Palestine as independent, sovereign states;
b. Removal of all Israeli settlements within Palestinian territory and the return of the occupied territory to Palestinian administration;

The Ukraine

After his meeting with the Russian President, feeling more or less satisfied by the results, it was time for Ivan Bukhariev to head back to his offices. When he has picked up by his own people, and taken to the Presidential Administration Building, where the President would be doing most of his work. The recent meeting had changed a few things, and for the better he would imagine. He’d have to get into the ears of the legislature, and by God was this going to be game changing, and at least a more or less acceptable peace was achieved. More importantly the issue of recognition was kicked down the road, allowing Ukrainian expectations to be tempered.

He entered his person office. Well, technically, before he got to his personal office, adjoined to his own office, and you had to go through it to get to his, was his personal secretary and assistant. Sofia Kushnier was an older lady, who had apparently been with the last 2 presidents. As it turns out, he’d be no different. Ivan Bukhariev was just as easily going to walk past her, saying “Good afternoon Sofia.” with a smile of course, about to enter his own office. Sofia was watering one of the plants, looking as if she might have been content to let him go on, but no.

“Sir, I have a report you should see. Though perhaps turning on the news would suffice just as well.” She told him.

“Report? About what? I have some people to call.” He said, looking at his watch, before looking at her.

“Why it has to deal with the Russians, I believe.” She answered him.

“The Russians? I was just talking to Vladimir not to long ago, I just got from a meeting with him.” He said, crossing his arms.

“Well sir, if I can tell anything from the report, Georgia is, how do I put this……..positively fucked.” She said bluntly.

His eyebrows furrowed, saying “Show me this report. Nothing good can come from this.”

4 Days Later

The last 4 days have shown the Ukrainian Government to be on edge, coming in reports of the war in Georgia. Now one could only expect a Russian response when the Georgians had crossed back into the so called “Republics.” However it looked like the consequences for this would quite possibly throw the Caucuses back into the Russian sphere firmly. In the meantime, the world got a good look at the Russian Military at its most potent.

Truly an unfortunate situation we’re seeing here in Georgia, though when it’s been ignored by the West, this raises some questions. Especially about reactions to Russian Agression. What did the West do when Russia invaded Georgia the first time? Nothing. What did the do with Ukraine? Sanctions, and some training and weapons. Would they have done anything more if Russia invaded Ukraine? Some have their doubts, and the fact it took years for Ukraine’s ascension to NATO doesn’t make up for the violation Georgia is going through right now. This is qu- hold up, I’m getting a new report………” the Ukrainian news anchor reporting on the war fell silent for a moment, before continuing “Ladies and Gentlemen. The Georgian Government has officially agreed to a unconditional surrender to Russian forces. This is tru-“ he went on, but Ivan cut the TV off rather abruptly.

His feet were put up on his desk, his TV across the room now a simple black staring back at him. On his desk were scattered reports from the war, and he couldn’t imagine what the last 4 days had brought to him would be like when he first saw the reports. To say his Government lost its shit would be an understatement. The Minister of Defense had began plans for the Ukrainian armed forces for the next year’s budget, and from what he could discern, people were rattled. It didn’t make things better the EU and NATO hadn’t really done anything besides “Call for both sides to excersise restraint, and return to pre war lines.” Were they retarded? Of course Russia wasn’t going to listen to them!

If anything “good” came out of what had just happened, it was the response from the Ukrainian private sector, and his ministers when it came to redevelopment of Donbass. Ukrainian coal mining companies, and other such ventures were so thrilled they began making plans practically immediately for the reconstruction, to resume mining operations they had previously be, uhhh, “postponed.” In that sense, the Government began to craft up a lift of utilities companies so they could compete for contracts when the next budget goes through. In a sense, Ukrainian Business was about to get another bone when it came to reconstruction.

Meanwhile displaced people, and those who fled persecution, would have a more stable place to return to. As attested to by Ukraine at least, and families see their families on the other side of the border. In that sense, things could return to a sense of normalcy, and Ukraine would give them the benefits of such.

“President Bukhariev, you have that Investors meeting now. In downtown Kyiv, I suggest you begin preparing soon.” Sofia said, poking her head inside his office, before frowning seeing the position he was in. She shook her head, saying “Really sir, you shouldn't have your feet up like that. It's not…….. presidential.”

Considering she was old enough to be his mother, he deferred to her suggestion. He also nodded, saying “Ah, that. Of course I remember, I have my paperwork right her.” He said picking up a folder, before standing up. “You should worry less, Sofia.”

“And you should worry more.” She said, before her head retreated back into her own office. Sighing, he got up and prepared to leave.

Kyiv Convention Center

Arriving on the stage, along with a host of the event, Ivan smiled as he looked at those in attendance to the Buisness Summit, as he represented the Government and it's plans. As it turns out, an American by the name of Timothy Ryder was hosting the event, a black man with pretty remarkable Ukrainian linguistic skills. “Welcome President Bukhariev, I'm so glad you could come here. Is there anything you'd like to get us started with before we really get into this meeting?”

“Well Timothy, yes. Ukraine has had a hard history, but let me Guarantee everyone in this room, Ukraine is open for business. We're striving to build a Ukrainian Economy that will benefit not just Ukrainians, but the world.” He said, smiling.

“That's good to hear Mr. President, now tell me. What's one of your biggest proposals now? What do you have in mind to attract people to Ukraine?” He asked.

“Well Mr. Ryder, I'd like to introduce you to a new project. It's in line with the invitatve to implement Special Economic Zones in Ukraine. Our hope is to encourage local entrepreneurs to set up buisness, for we certainly have the talent. Just as importantly, to attract Foreign Investment into Ukraine. Hence that's why I introduce to you, and everyone here, the Kyiv Economic Center!” He said, a screen that was about them showcased a Ukrainian downtown with skyscrapers galore, reminiscent to the Moscow International Business Center, or Manhattan, depending on who you asked.

“Wow, how interesting. How do you plan to get this to come about, Mr. President?” Ryder asked.

“It's to be located on Trukhaniv Island. It is supposed that "Kyiv-City" will include offices, business centers, service apartments, shopping malls, sports and recreation centers, exhibition centers, hotels, railway stations, transport and pedestrian terminals. The business center is promised to become Ukrainian Manhattan. At cost, we're seeing 10 billon in US Dollars. This may sound like a lot, however I guarantee you we will spread this out through the next decade. And that's not even counting the Foreign Investment this area, along with other SEZs are sure to attract.” Bukhariev said.

“Hmm, so I'm interested in what you're saying about Entrepreneurs. What is Ukraine planning to do for them?” Ryder asked.

“Well, we have quite a few things in mind. First of all, we want to cut down the bar to making a small business. Lowering the required paperwork. Unlike legislation in other countries, Ukrainian law does not allow investors to set up a partnership in the country or convert a representative office into a company. That will change. It takes 22 days to start up a company, however we shall take steps to gradually lower that time period to EU a averages. Ukraine ranks 182nd in the world for ease of dealing with construction permits, and businesses have to contend with 20 procedures that can take more than a year to administer. What’s more, the cost ($1,262) is well above the OECD average of $78.7. It takes 74 days just to request and obtain approval of project design drawings and estimates by comprehensive state expertise, which epitomises the rigorous process. That's insane. That's unfortunate, so we shall be aiming to lowering those requirements and time to OECD average. These kinds of things make things harder, but recent laws will help change these hurdles. It takes 6 documents and 30 days for important and exports for Ukrainian companies. We are aiming to cut that in half. We're in an ideal location for Trade in Europe, so we need to make sure we make use of that position. Finally, Taxes. Taxes need to be accommodated for these new Entrepreneurs as they start business, and hence we'll be seeing a tax abatement program for those Companies younger than 2 years old as they get off their feet.” He replied.

“I see. Are you concerned about the Brain Drain happening in Ukraine? 5 million Ukrainians live abroad, 2 million in Poland. Any ideas of how your Government will combat that? Skilled people are necessary for Ukraine's rise.” Ryder asked the President.

“Yes, we are aware of this. That's why we've been giving thought to the matter. First, initiate a program together with academia, NGOs, business, and diaspora organizations to recommend tangible proposals and incentives that would reverse brain drain and encourage migrants to return home. Young Ukrainians who studied or worked abroad and then returned home are already working to transform their country, working in the public and private sectors, and they should be supported. Second, boost programs supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, encouraging returning Ukrainians to invest their remittances and accumulated savings by launching local businesses, thus utilizing the skills and experience they learned while living abroad. If you're not aware, Ukraine receives 11 billion dollars in remittances from our Diaspora. Surely if they turned their attention to funding buisness in Ukraine, we could see a boom for Ukrainian business. Third, share stories of flourishing international and local companies operating in Ukraine. I often travel across the country and am inspired by the many stories I hear. These need to be emphasized. The National Investment Council and Ukraine Invest, agencies established to promote Ukraine as an investment destination, are a big step in that direction. Fourth, study the feasibility of select dual citizenship. Ukraine does not allow its citizens to hold two passports, largely due to the potential security risk. This risk should be taken seriously. However, a comprehensive review should be considered for those already holding two passports and for the diaspora. Finally, get the diaspora involved. Launch a campaign to encourage diaspora Ukrainians to visit and consider relocating to Ukraine. This could help to promote opportunities in sectors such as education, business, public administration, and volunteering. These Ukrainians have a lot of experience, experience that would be instrumental to forming a new Ukraine.” The president said, Ryder seeming pleased with his answer.

“What other things are you excited about for Ukraine?” He asked.

“The Natural Gas sector, and the National Gas company Naftohaz are doing good work. Really good work, believe that. Now, I am well aware of what it took for the company to raise prices to that of market worth, but we've seen lots of Growth. Ukraine now covers all it's domestic needs, and we're even looking for export partners in Europe. There's a lot of interest in alternative sources of natural gas in Europe, and I can see the company continuing it's streak of success. With its reforms, it's a company worth investing in. Not only will we provide for ourselves, but we'll be providing for many European households in the future. Oh, and the fine people in our Defense Industries are doing well too. I trust they will continue their good work, and encourage Foriegn investors to see their potential.” He said.

“So, is there anything more you'd like to lay out for business in general in Ukraine?” Ryder continued.

“Well, yes. Ukraine of course is seeing a top down approach to reform, but also a bottom up from local Governors who've been working tirelessly to make their areas good for business, and to tackle Corruption with the cooperation of the national anti corruption courts. Of course we've been seeing a lot of success in regards to this.” He said.

“Like the arresting of a certain Oligarch?” Ryder continued.

“Well, I suppose you could say that. Though not all Oligarchs are necessarily corrupt, and not all corrupt have to be Oligarchs. Though the corruption hurt Ukraine universally, hence our strong actions against corruption in the past decade. Now you might see this recent rather exceptional case, but let me tell you. This isn't just about the Oligarchs. It's about all the small offenses that make life hard, from paying for Government services that should be free, to being screwed out of bringing a unique idea into the market. Let it be known, I am an avid capitalist!”

There was some cheers at that, getting claps from the audience.

“What we're doing here is bringing capitalism to Ukraine. Yes, it's been decades too late. But we're bringing real Capitalism to Ukraine. Ukrainians are talented and able, and we're cutting down the things between Ukrainians and the ability to get their ideas to the market. And to all of Victor Pinchuk supporters, I say to you a few things. First of all, me and him share some of the same beliefs. Being pro Ukrainian, pro EU, and for a new Ukraine. However many Ukrainians are for that. And from what I've heard about the case, it was handled in the realm of the Judiciary. What's even more Stalinist, as some have come to calling it, is interfering in the actions of the Corruption Court. A Court, will the backing of the international community, with the job to work these situations out. I am aware how this makes some feel, but I stress again, this isn't about hunting down the elite. As I said before, it's about all the littlest things. Am I supposed to excuse the local tax official, because he was a good man? Or because he had the right views? Isn't that the corruption we're fighting? The demands of these people are overlooking the fact they aren't even the biggest group of people targeted. The reason it got so much attention was because it was high profile.

“Well that's all very encouraging President Bukhariev. Now onto our next Guest, we have-”

The New Treaty

“As January of a new year came, it could be said a chance at peace could finally be given to the Donbass. After months of preparation, the National Guard finally began taking steps back as Ukrainian corporations. From a mixture of Government funding, and private funding, a billion USD was delegated to the Project of rebuilding Donbass in the year of 2028. From roads, schools, apartments, and other electric utilities, to how people heated their homes, Ukrainian Companies who got the appropriate contracts were sent into the region to begin reconstruction efforts. Though that wasn't the only notable thing. Ukrainians flooded the area, along with hired locals. Besides that, family members from the Ukrainian side of the border also went across to see their family members, a long awaited reunion, even if there were state boundaries between them now.” Said a female Ukrainian reporter, in the capital center of the “Donetsk People's Republic” as her and her crew monitored Ukrainian and local workers as they worked on a street leading into city.

“However private companies also took up the mantle, Ukrainian coal companies taking up the mantle, having set aside a millions to come back to the region, and setting up mines, hiring locals, while also contributing to the local infrastructure. This of course was accompanied by other Ukrainian and related companies who were remaking an entrance into the area, along with EU companies who had access to the area via Ukrainian arrangements.” She said when the screen switched to her into a coal mining area, local workers sent back to work, while other workers worked on local infrastructure.

“So sir, you’re being sent back to work in the mines here, yes?” She asked one man, who nodded.

“Yes, the industrial areas took a hit here with the war, and the blockade. Areas too damaged to be used for work, but here we are. It’s kind of weird, after over a decade of war, and it’s over like that.” A man who looked like he was in his late 20’s answered.

“Is life changing already?” She asked.

“Well, yeah. Prices have dropped increasingly. We used to get things from Russia, more expensive, lower quality. Now we’re getting things from France, Ukraine, Poland. Now I have this new job, which pays good all things considered.” He replied.

“You like how things are going?” She asked again.

“Well, people aren’t killing each other anymore. My older brother was serving with the (Dontesk) Military, and I feared for his life. Now he’s demobilized, and working in industrial jobs coming back to the area. Ukraine needs us, and I say we work em for every rubble they’re worth.” He said. Panning to in front of a Baptist Church. Worshipers filing in for the first time in years.

“Perhaps the most spectacular was the fact once persecuted groups felt emboldened, Protestants being able to come back to their Churches. Jehovah's Witnesses as well were able to come back to their own Kingdom Halls, and Mormons to their Temples. The Kiev Patriarch's churches were also reopened as they began resuming their own services. This was perhaps one of the bigger wins for Ukraine in the region, as groups such as Jehovah's Witnesses were being ruthlessly persecuted in Russia itself, but now they get to practice their faith openly here. The same went to other groups such as the LGBT community, who had also been bullied. So violence and oppression, by State forces at least, has been curtailed. The U.N. has documented hundreds of abuses of the right to life, deprivation of liberty, enforced disappearance, torture and ill-treatment, sexual violence, and unlawful or arbitrary detention, among other things in Donbass, and these things were being addressed by the push of Ukrainian authorities, to ensure they've come to a stop.” The Ukrainian reporter said, before heading to one worshiper.

“So you and your congregation have been finally allowed back. What happened? When were you kicked out?” She asked him.

“They kicked us out in 2018. Armed men stormed in, said they were repurposing the building. Turned into some military compound. Authorities demanded we re-register our church, but when we applied, they refused. People like the witnesses, they knew this was coming. It already happened in Russia. They weren’t surprised it happened here. I was though, I was shocked when they just came in and-“ the sister of the Baptist Congregation began, but broke down crying. “10 years we’ve had to worship in secret. In our homes. It’s really unbelievable, I can’t thank God enough for this. I knew Christians would be persecuted for their faith, but these were our neighbors! And we’re not in some place like China and Saudi Arabia, we’re in Eastern Europe! We’re Christians, it’s horrible our Christian brothers could do such a thing! Nothing like this happened in Ukraine, for all its faults.” She said, the sentiment being echoed from her, and many other Christian faiths, or perhaps non Christians who also were caught up. Moving on, the reporter finally talked to some Government officials.

“So, how do you feel about all of this. What do you think the future of the DPR and LPR is?” She asked him.

“Well, I feel very confident. Even more so for the prospect of Novorossiya. I’m really glad Ukraine was able to finally see we wouldn’t bow down simply. Now we can focus on rebuilding.” He said, a smile on his face.

“And how do you feel about the task of forming a new Government? Think that will go over well?”

“Ukrainian and Russian authorities have been very hands on if you will, and I feel confident in our ability to turn our fortunes. The blockade being lifted, and trade being officiated, we can see actual growth right now. Keep your eye on us, or Ukraine might find it passed by us!” He proclaimed.

On the home front, we see the National Guard being redeployed throughout the nation. It found itself, watching the situation on the border of Transitia. Meanwhile a process of overall beginning a process of possible gun registration, and legalization. Things aren’t for sure at the moment, but depending on how things turn out, gun laws may be officiated in Ukraine, and in a rather liberalized manner in comparison to other European Countries.

This of course comes to a relief to some, considering gun owners in Ukraine realistically exist in a legal purgatory. Of course it acts as a double edged sword in some ways, however officials in the Government hope this will open up a new industry, and assist in secondary national defense. At the moment, the plans remain that: plans.

Military Procurement

Now there was quite a few things taken into account into the new year, when considering the challenges Ukraine faced. As of late, the deal with the United States, which totaled 2,282,000,000 USD for 36 of the latest F-16 multirole fighters.(Their eventual phasing into the UAF would see older planes phased out.) Then Of course the Patriot Battery with complementary missiles, and the THAAD Battery, making their way to the Ukrainian Military as efforts to modernize its older air defense systems and develop new ones were going along quite well(More on that later). With those boosts, the payment for them was actually quite simple. Due to the recent 30 billion aid package from the US, 3 billion dollars that could be used for things like buying American Weapons was indeed used. 2$.282 billion was used to acquire these systems, and for their deployment to be made as quickly as possible.

Now $717,000,000 was still a healthy sum when the country in question was Ukraine, so what did it plan to do with this money? Something that would benefit the US, EU, and Ukraine all in one. Develop a standard AA platform for the EU. Now the idea of standardizing equipment was gaining steam in Europe, and one thing it desperately needed to address was its Air Defenses. As it turns out, Ukraine got the lucrative deal of being able to develop such a program. With access to the EUs work base, and a healthy budget, Ukraine had it in mind to develop a layered defense system for the Union.

This all culminates in what is being coined “Vladimir’s Shield” (a reference to Vladimir the Great, not the gay boy in Moscow.) Under this System, a short(45 mi), medium(120mi), intermediate(275 mi), and long( 450 mi) range would be the goals for batteries. The development of a missile series (code named “Tridents”), along with a radar system with the goal of developing a distance of 650 miles around a radar station. Taking previous efforts to develop various types of missiles and AA systems, those resources would be used to develop “Vladimir’s Shield.”

Since 2019, 6% of the GDP has been dedicated to the Military. Considering 20% of the Ukrainian budget as of late has been dedicated to new procurements of Weapons, this makes up $2,208,000,000 out of the $11,040,000,000 budget. In this case, the establishment is really excited about the An-25. Having finished its testing, the Multi Role Fighter was finally able to begin serial production. The An-25s advanced ARG-22 AESA radar delivers greater situational awareness, flexibility and quicker all-weather targeting. The ARG-22 provides pilots with impressive target area detail and digital map displays that can be tailored with slew and zoom features. The ARG-22 provides An-25s with 5th Generation fighter radar capabilities by leveraging hardware and software commonality with F-22 and F-35 AESA radars. Another key feature of the An-25 configuration is the Center Console Display (CCD), which provides critical tactical imagery to pilots on a high-resolution 6”x 8” screen. The high-resolution display allows pilots to take full advantage of AESA and targeting pod data. The new CCD enables color moving maps, larger and easier to manage air-to-air Situation Displays, zoom functionality with the ability to switch information among displays, and a digital display of Flight Instrument Data. The CCD is also compatible with the Night Vision Imaging System. The Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System (Auto GCAS) was purpose-built to prevent deadly crashes and has already saved the lives of seven pilots and six F-16s since the system entered service with the U.S. Air Force in late 2014. The Auto GCAS is designed to reduce incidents of what is known as controlled flight into terrain, or CFIT. According to U.S. Air Force statistics, CFIT incidents account for 26 percent of aircraft losses and a staggering 75 percent of all F-16 pilot fatalities. Considering Ukraine’s troublesome history with crashing Fighter Jets (like the deadly Airshow Disaster that killed 77 people, injured 500, and was in general a mess in 2002.) So it overall was a godsend for this to he incorporated into the An-25.

Being a super maneuverable Aircraft, this also allows the An-25 to achieve very high angles-of-attack—in other words, the plane can be moving in one direction while its nose is pointed in another. A high angle of attack allows an aircraft to more easily train its weapons on an evading target and execute tight maneuvers.(Now Of course the UAF is handling it’s pilots, from handling a daredevil flying culture of low flying, which might be useful in some cases due to strategic realities with Ukraine’s rival capabilities in regards to their AA capabilities. Then there’s increasing flying hours for Ukrainian Pilots.)

The An-25 can achieve a maximum speed of Mach 2.15 at high altitude (equal to the F-22 and faster than the F-35 or F-16) and has excellent acceleration. Its service ceiling is sixty thousand feet, on par with F-15s and F-22s, and ten thousand feet higher than Super Hornets, Rafales and F-35s. The Su-35 has expanded fuel capacity, giving it a range of 2,200 miles on internal fuel, or 2,800 miles with two external fuel tanks. The An-25 airframe is not particularly stealthy. However, adjustments to the engine inlets and canopy, and the use of radar-absorbent material, supposedly halve the An-25’s radar cross-section. This could reduce the range it can be detected and targeted, but the An-25 is still not a “stealth fighter.”

The An-25 has twelve to fourteen weapons hardpoints, giving it an excellent loadout compared to the eight hardpoints on the F-15C and F-22, or the four internally stowed missiles on the F-35. At long range, the Su-35 can use A-28M radar-guided missiles, which have range of over 140 miles. For shorter-range engagements, the A-22 infrared-guided missile is capable of targeting “off boresight”—simply by looking through a helmet-mounted optical sight, the pilot can target an enemy plane up sixty degrees away from where his plane is pointed. The A-22 has a range of over 35 miles, and also uses thrust-vectoring technology. The medium-range A-29 missile and the extra long-range A-39 complete the An-25’s air-to-air missile selection. Additionally, the Su-35 is armed with a thirty-millimeter cannon with 150 rounds for strafing or dogfighting.

After years of development, them Aircraft was finally green lighted for introduction into the UAF. Kyiv, now with an Aircraft of its own, intended to begin with an order of 100 An-25s. The pricing of the 4th Gen++ Aircraft ranging at 32 million USD per unit. Ukraine planned to produce 15 of these Aircraft per year, $480,000,000 would be spent on the replacement and expansion of the Ukrainian Air Fleet. The UAF in truth has been severely hampered by the Crimean annexation, which had saw 44 MiG-29s being stolen, and incorporated into the Russian Airforce. Of course, it appeared the Russians were unwilling to give them back, so Ukraine had to make do, and make do it had.

On the ground, the army wanted to see the production of T-84s continue, but industrial problems persist. As of now, 5 T-84s are produced per year, 5 million USD per unit. Hence, around 25 million dollars per year are spent on these tanks. Efforts to expand the Industrial production are taking place, from firming up Ukrainian production cycles, to expanding the capacities of these factories. Then of course with recent defense industry reforms, plans to gather investments, and market the tanks are taking place.

Then comes the R90 assault rifle being pressed into service. The R90 primarily fires NATO 5.56 x 45 millimeter rounds, though it can also shoot 9-millimeter ammunition, or 7.62x39mm depending on the barrel used. It uses a long-stroke piston system: though this is an old type of mechanism -- it was used by the M-1 Garand and AK-47 rifles -- it is also reliable. Given the problems experienced by some bullpup designs -- the teething troubles of Britain's notorious SA80 come to mind -- focusing on reliability may have been a wise decision. The R90 is a selective fire modular assault rifle which is capable of semi-automatic fire, 3-round burst fire and fully automatic fire. The R90 has a cyclic rate of fire of around 700–900 rounds per minute. They have many common interchangeable parts and can be converted from one to the other. The Effective Range is 550 meters, and a Maximum range of 3600 meters.

It is offered in 5 different configurations:
>Assault rifle – a standard assault rifle configuration with 16 in (410 mm) barrel.
>Assault rifle with underbarrel grenade launcher – similar to the assault rifle configuration but with a 40×46mm underbarrel grenade launcher equipped.
>Carbine – a short barrel variant with a 10 in (250 mm) barrel.
Carbine with underbarrel grenade launcher – similar to the carbine configuration but with a 40×46mm underbarrel grenade launcher equipped.
>Squad automatic weapon – a variant equipped with a heavy, thick profile and a 16 in (410 mm) barrel.
>Designated marksman rifle – is equipped with a 16 in (410 mm) barrel and a two stage trigger group.
This all in mind, the R90 is being equipped to the Ukrainian Military, making it's debute into the Military, finally getting the Ukrainian Military closer to having it's ground soldiers closer to their NATO peers.

The Ukrainian Pro Life Movement, The Church, and Demographic Problems?

Demographic problems are in the back of the minds of Ukrainian legislators, but the question is how do we address these issues. Well as it turns out, it’s sort of hard to legislate these kinds of things. However Ukrainian legislators have decided to act lately, and essentially for any woman with 4 or more children, their income tax would be axed. A hope the Government had this would help, and $75 dollars off the taxes of women for every child after their first. However as it turns out, legislating can go so far. This is where the Kyiv Patriarch comes in. Now ironically, since the Ukrainian Orthodox Church came about, its increased the religiosity of Ukrainian Orthodox (who were already more religious than their Russian counterparts) due to a “competition” between the two. Using this, this could become interesting. Around 60% of Ukrainians identify as Orthodox, and the Kyiv patriarch has seen his following grow immensely among the Ukrainian Population sense he was brought to power. Now this in mind, he was vehemently against abortion, and believed Children and more importantly, Family were the center of Ukrainian society. So, he put out an offer. Any Ukrainian Orthodox couple who, for their third child or higher, he’d personally baptize said child, and become their Godfather. A pretty significant offer. It was also coupled by efforts by the Church and other groups to give rise to a credible anti abortion movement in the country, which was followed by the Church giving more attention to orphanages, Orthodox or not, and begin making it a side crusade to take care of Ukraine’s children. Hence, a growing influence of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the lives of orphans, or children who might have been aborted otherwise but were dropped off to the Church. It also lead to renewed interest in Orthodox schools run by the Ukrainian Patriarch. Considering abortion wasn’t necessarily hot with other Christian groups like the Greek Catholics, they also steeped their own efforts in caring for those who might me driven to abortion, and assessing how to get its members to take a stand against it. In this setting, the Ukrainian Government also began subsidizing the Ukrainian Patriarchs Orthodox Schools and Orphanges, along with those of the Greek Catholics and Protestants, as children in State facilities we're gradually given over to church care. The majority of these children as it turned out, went to the Ukrainian Patriarch. It was in the hope of building “Social Fabric”, a term gaining popularity, that members of these churches would be more inclined to adopt. It about handling its own orphanages and schools as well. The argument on Abortion hadn’t really reached the legislative level quite yet, but the chances of it getting there were rising. This was of course being picked up by more secular Pro Life organizations, who prepared to take the campaign forward.

In other news, there was also a tax exemption scheme per child. One child would take $75 dollars off your taxes per child for an Houses income. Not ignorable in Ukraine,
considering what domestic wages could be. Then there was Generally events organized by the government to encourage people to have kids, and conferences being held with parents to distinguish how to the Government could make the lives of parents easier. Officials went all over the world, scratching their heads on how they can address Ukrainian demographic issues. As it turns out, it's not an simple thing to solve.

Ukrainian Natural Gas

The recent infrastructure Projects had greatly helped Ukraine in it's needs in regards to Natural Gas, and the possibilities of its use in Europe, along with other projects that helped Ukraine. In this regards, Ukraine is eager to begin exports to Europe. In 2019, a small amount of Ukrainian Natural Gas was exported as a, doing the minimal amount of Natural Gas required to use the pipes. As it turns out, it worked well, but the Pipes needed Investment and work. Almost a decade later, and after Ukraine gaining Natural Gas Independence, producing its 's own Gas, that dream has come. Now Ukraine has the ability to export to other countries. Those nations found themselves primarily in the East, where use of Natural Gas was stronger.

Countries involved were Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Greece, and as far west as Germany and Italy. The Ukrainian addition to the Natural Gas market was a welcome presence in a Europe trying to diversify its resources, and an EU member with such large resources are useful. Though of course the revenue to Ukraine was even more welcome to Ukraine, which could always use more money. With 1.1 trillion in cubic meters of Natural Gas, and another 5.5 Trillion in suspected Natural Gas, a cycle of foreign investment and reinvestment from the Ukrainians to explore and expand Ukraine’s production potential is taking place. All of this is just absolutely wonderful for the Ukrainian budget, considering the profits the Ukrainian Gas company Naftogaz, who grows increasingly prominent among this recent growth, is showing its influence in Ukrainian coffers.

Rivne Arms Company

Responsible for the R90 Rifle, the client company to Ukroboronprom, RAC, is one of the first major Ukrainian small arms companies to take the lead in producing Ukrainian small arms in the US, as the civilian variant of the R90. Considering the large market of gun owners in the US, it would be insane to not take notice of it. However the possibility of a Ukrainian market was also noticeable. As Ukrainians began to contemplate their own small arms companies, RAC began designing products for am American, Canadian, and other audiences.

Besides that, the national registration of Weapons has begun, along with the gurantee the Government would not come after people's firearms. In this process, a new class of legal gun owners in Ukraine. This was the first time real consideration to gun legalization was given.

Besides that, people were put through gun safety courses, reminiscent of those in Canada, and a civil duty was added to gun ownership. Gun owners of the right age and gender were put into local paramilitary Groups in association with the Ukrainian National Guard. This was most notable for Citizens armed with assault Rifles. The system was quasi inspired by the Swedish system, but more casual in nature.

These new gun owners were also open to other forms of semi automatic weapons. Any automatic weapons were only available through the RAC, and aquiring such weapons had mandatory service in local paramilitaries attached to it, along background checks of a stringent nature, also inspired by Canada. However unlike other countries, Ukrainian gun laws are liable to become some of the most Liberal in Europe, the idea of National defense heavily associated with it.

The Oligarch Dilemma

Due to the crisis with the Oligarchs, the Government decided to compromise. While maintaining that the current Government was not indeed biased against the Oligarch class, and considering they weren't the largest demographic of people targeted by the Corruption Court. In this case, the compromise was handing these cases over to the European Court of Justice. In this case, the Ukrainian authorities would still maintain the need to end the anti corruption campaign, pointing out that Ukraine's largest hindrance was Corruption, and the current anti corruption regime was a plan heavily influnced by input by the EU and the IMF, hence any attempts to end it would actually be anti EU.

Due to the recognition for his contribution to the New Ukraine, the new President cut Victor's sentence time as a part of the compromise between the Government and the Oligarchs in this scenario. In a final note, the Government pointed out that not only would that be unprecedented in any Western country on Earth for the business class to pull out of the country over the decisions of the Judiciary, but to also threaten to oppose a Constitutionally legitimate Government that has achieved the things the Oligarchs claim to be for, and work with other Governments to bring it down. The EU certainly wouldn't assist such an effort, due to Ukraine taking hints from the EU. Neither would the US, due to their close relationship. Would they go to Russia? Laughable claims from a group of people who claim to want what's best for Ukraine.

On that note, the Ukrainian fight against corruption would continue, judges in the anti corruption court, vetted by the EU and other legitimate bodies, would continue their fight against corruption. In this fight, it's imperative that the corruption and thinking of Ukrainian society is changed, and that started process continues, and the Revolution of 2014 lives on.

Turkish Refugees

Looking to the regions with the most jobs, and others will the most housing, Ukraine went about working to handle it's Turkish Migrants fleeing from the war in Turkey. The good news? Turkish Migrants tended to be overwhelmingly educated, which made the integration process easier. Hence the Immigration courts got to work, granting Turks access to Ukraine, and legal status in Ukraine.

Building companies were called upon to make housing that fit the needs of these new people, giving rise to a Soviet esque mentality when building new homes, taking note from German experience in the aftermath of 2015. They just needed to make sure these people had homes, and they got them quickly. It didn't need to be fancy, it just needed to get the job done. Meanwhile they were enrolled into programs to help teach Turkish people Ukrainian. Though most importantly, there was their integration into the economy. As of now, places like school gymnasiums, hotels, and other camps were set up for newcomers as more appropriate housing was procured.

The Ukrainian Government encouraged these newcomers to start business, and begin contributing to the Economy. Some took more menial jobs, but others helped supplement the brain drain Ukraine was undergoing. With heavy importance placed on a practical integration, many of these people found themselves between Western and southern Ukraine. Areas more capable of dealing with the influx, and more tolerant due to the western nature of those Ukrainians. Hence integration classes were beginning to be held, and the Government appealed to the goodness of the Ukrainian people to help the people seeking aid in Ukraine. Of course the Ukrainian Government went to the EU, asking for resources to help deal with the situation as well. The reasoning was honestly very simple. It's better for these people to be handled in Ukraine, than for Western Europe to have to relive 2015? Hence, the Ukrainian Government asked for the logistical aid to help accompany new people.

Any Orphans were surprisingly enough were handled by three sources. The Government, the Orthodox Church, or local Muslim communities. Ideally, the Government jumps on the issue, and handles it. Of course foreign NGOs were invited into the country to help take care of the new Ukrainian residents, but they weren't the only ones. EU officials, especially those who had helped deal with their own migration situations a decade earlier, came to Ukraine to help develop a policy for Ukraine. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, with the help of other institutions like the country's network of adult education centers and workers' welfare organizations, has created an extensive offering of integration courses across the country. The classes offer a combination of language training and civics for newcomers, with the state covering the costs for those who have been granted official refugee status. The program includes 600 hours of Ukrainian language training and 100 hours of instruction on Ukrainian values, Ukrainian history and the constitution. Once the course is completed and the test passed, refugees should be able to get along well in day-to-day life and have a fundamental understanding of Ukrainian values.

The Kyiv Economic Center

With the approximately 3.5 Billion USD from Israel in Investments, it could easily be said the KEC got off to a more than impressive start. Using the funding they've raised, the process to construction has begun full throttle, the local city Government practically taking a victory lap around the world. It is supposed that "Kyiv-City" will include offices, business centers, service apartments, shopping malls, sports and recreation centers, exhibition centers, hotels, railway stations, transport and pedestrian terminals. The business center is promised to become Ukrainian Manhattan, as said by the President.

In this process, local Ukrainian construction companies would rea the rewards of these projects, and Ukrainian business was given enticements to support the Project, and support the new “Manhattan.” In reality the Project stands in stark contrast to the Russian “Moscow International Business Center” in scale, and expenses.

Whatever the case, Ukraine pushes forward with these new developments with the new sense of purpose the president was trying to convey to the people. Being confident in the future was just as important sometimes, and right now, the president has to sell that to Ukraine and the world. Perhaps Projects like this will convince people.

An Address To The Nation

President Andrzej Duda calmly walked toward the podium as cameras flashed and recorded, he was closely flanked by Mateusz Morawiecki, Minister of Investments and Economic Development and Bozena Szopa, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy. The three smiled for the cameras and stood tall as they organized their papers and got ready to speak. The election had been a bit of a chilly gust of wind for the Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc, or Law and Justice party. While it upheld it's dominant level of control over Polish politics, the popular support for their policies has lessened somewhat, highly controversial amendments to the constitution had resulted in outrage among the PO and led some former PiS supporters to lend their votes to other parties, most ex-PiS'ers migrating to Kukiz'15. Duda, long considered to be Jarosław Kaczyński's protege and later successor to the leadership of the PiS party would now take the reins of power once again, guiding the nation forward into the future after the end of Kaczyński's second term as the former President returned to the post of party leader for the PiS. Duda was fully certain in what he had to do, Poland needed a bold vision and a great united effort to fully unleash the country's still dormant potential.

Andrzej stood behind the podium, giving the cameras a warm, confident smile. They would soon announce several very ambitious plans, a rousing call to arms to the nation so to speak. The President of Poland took a deep breath, feeling the fresh air in his lungs invigorate him as he began to speak. "Friends, countrymen, fellow people of Poland. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the trust you have placed in the Law and Justice party and in me for the coming mandate, I swear to you that I shall not squander your trust. The coming mandate, indeed, the coming years are of paramount importance to our country and I am overjoyed that the people have chosen the Law and Justice party to properly handle the challenges that we need to overcome as a nation to fully blossom. The time that our party has been in power has been a time of great progress for us as a nation. Our economy has grown thanks to the continued economic reform and infrastructural investment, especially regarding railroads in the eastern parts of the country, several analysts predict that our total nominal GDP could rise past 1 trillion dollars by 2030 at the very latest and my government will do all in it's power to make those figures even higher. We have invested in our national defense capabilities to project a credible deterrence to Russian belligerence bringing our Land Force and Air Force into the 21'st century. Under my administration national defense will remain a key priority and the navy will be brought into the modern day. I shall also give significant attention to law enforcement so that we and our children may live our lives in safety and peace. But one of the most pressing matters is the fact that the Poland is aging and needs to grow younger if we are to sustain our economy and our unique culture. The programs instituted under my previous time in office have done some to alleviate this problem but it is clear that further measures need to be taken, which Minister Szopa will be more then eager to tell you more about." Andrzej said with a warm, sweeping gesture toward Minister Bozena Szopa who now raised her voice.

"The budget set forth for this mandate will go down in history as the budget of the family, nearly 5% of GDP will be allocated to family support with another 275 million Euros allocated to the healthcare system specifically to improve the quality and availability of maternity care throughout the country. There shall be a new system of monthly family allowance replacing the dated 500+ program in order to provide greater help to Polish families and children, especially those of poor backgrounds. In addition to the new family allowance program the government will take extensive and comprehensive measures in order to help and support the family, the bedrock that every society is built upon. We shall introduce measures such as marriage allowance of up to 25 Euros monthly to both spouses for the first 24 months of a marriage if at least one of the spouses is below 35 years of age. A one-off child benefit will be payed out to women who give birth at 250 Euros per child and 350 Euros in case of twins. A monthly childcare allowance equivalent to 70% of the applicant's salary will be provided until the child's second birthday, this allowance will however not rise to a sum above 150% of the minimum wage. A housing support program will offer subsidized loans to couples if they promise that they will have one, two, three or four children. The size of support depends on the number of children the couple plans to have. To qualify for the housing support program least one of the parents has to be under 40 years old and both need to have a clean criminal record." Minister Szopa said a gave the President a nod and smile.

"Thank you, Minister Szopa." Duda said courteously. "As madam-Minister said, the family is the bedrock that any society is built upon and our support for the family is one of the most direct investments that can be made in a country's future. The world is growing in wealth, nations that were once poor and provided the western half of our continent with a great stream of migrants will not last i poverty forever, African economies are growing rapidly and wars end in due time. While a responsible, controlled migration policy focused on economic integration and cultural assimilation can solve the problem of a shrinking workforce for the short term, a stable long term solution must focus on raising domestic natural growth in order to keep the economy expansive and competitive. On just that topic, I'm sure Minister Morawiecki would like to have a word." Duda said and nodded to the Minister of Investments and Economic Development who now added his voice to the press conference.

"Poland has a great amount of economic potential waiting to be unleashed and the policies of this government will do just that. It is imperative that our country adopts an aggressive and dynamic series of policies designed to capitalize on Poland's current-day economic advantages to pave the way to a prosperous future for our children. If we do not waste these years, Poland can become one of the main growth engines of the EU attaining the similar levels as Southern European nations like Spain, Portugal or even Italy. We will do our utmost to make this a reality and programs are planned to make our country the third largest process manufacturer in the EU. To make Poland a major food supplier for Europe, to create over 500 000 jobs in advanced business services, to become a pharmaceutical hub and to save and future-proof the struggling Polish mining sector. All of this is possible and needed if Poland is the be anything but a regionally focused middle-economy. We shall adopt an accelerated growth policy, catch up with the advanced economies and become a globally competitive growth engine with internationally recognized Polish brands. We shall take the measures needed to close the productivity-gap within crucial sectors such as mining, agriculture and energy while expanding high-potential sectors like advanced business services, process manufacturing and food processing. Over to you, mister President." Morawiecki finished.

"Thank you, mister Minister." Duda said and once more let his voice be heard. "We are at a unique moment in our history, our country has the means and resources to begin a new phase of our more than thousand year-old history. A point has been reached when we cannot rely on the invisible hand, we require ambitious plans and bold execution of them to achieve new heights. I shall focus the efforts of my administration to make our ambitious plans reality, to make Poland wealthy, safe and strong. To deepen our ties with our allies near and far, working closely with the United States and the Visegrad Group while furthering our diplomatic outreach across the world. With hard work and determination, our comprehensive Poland 2040 Program can become reality, thank you ladies and gentlemen."

Policymakers at Work

The members of the Sjem and Senate had been hard at work over the last few weeks. In a bid to look like a strong, determined leader the President had set forth an ambitious plan for his first 100 days in office. Reforms in the agricultural sector, mining sector, high-end service sector and possibly one among OCED's most comprehensive (and most expensive) family policies, and two large construction projects were to be implemented. The first ambitious steps of the Duda Administration's Poland 2040 Program.

Mining, especially coal mining but also copper and silver present one of the sectors with the largest productivity-gaps when compared to western EU nations at a staggering 72%. Coal mining has been one of Poland's major export industries since the Interwar Era and measures should be taken to improve it's profitability and future viability. With the reforms introduced as part of this policy package it is the hope of the government that Polish coal mining, alongside Polish mining in general is given a good chance to grow into a stable, profitable and innovative sector of the national economy. Analyses indicate that several concerted actions can serve to turn the sector around as today, more than a dozen Polish coal mines are in danger of bankruptcy. The government hopes that if applied systematically, the following actions will result in significant growth and double-digit productivity improvements in Poland mining sector.

* Active Measures.
- Abandon geological areas that cannot be made economically viable by operational improvements.
- Eliminate regulatory barriers that increase effective operation costs and reduce labor productivity and do not improve safety or working conditions for employees.
- Give incentives to apply process improvements, standardize procedures and enable continuous improvement in equipment availability and effectiveness, labor productivity, energy and utility efficiency, and safety standards.
- Develop Katowice as a global hub for underground operations and technologies such as smart mines. Poland is well-positioned to be a leading nation in mining innovation combining a highly skilled and cost-effective engineering workforce with local underground expertise. These measures will only increase in importance over time as global mineral reserves from readily available open-pit mines are depleted and this expertise could become a significant Polish export service in the future.

Poland ranks fourth in the EU in terms of viable arable land after France, Spain and Germany. Growing urbanization in Western Europe has made Poland with it's large agricultural land areas a prime candidate as a food supplier for Europe. The agricultural sector has great potential but is marred by structural inefficiency. It contributes to only about 4% of national GDP but employs 10% of the total workforce. To make Poland a sound base for a profitable and dynamic food industry hub the sector needs transformation in the following fields to increase productivity and growth. Increased dynamism in agriculture would bring more wealth into the hands of Poland's rural population, numbering at 36% of the population and encourage spending.

* Active Measures.
- Increasing through consolidation the size of the average family-owned farm which in Poland is at around 10 hectares while those in Western Europe are around 50 hectares.
- Improving yields on Polish farms by encouraging land leases, contract farming and producer's co-operatives.
- Re-orienting the sector from it's current focus on low-value raw produce toward higher value processed foodstuffs.

Poland is one of the world's leading nations when it comes to the business and service sector, especially as a destination for outsourced and offshored business services (O&O). The growth of O&O in Poland has outpaced formerly anticipated leaders in the field, and is expected to grow further in the near future as a significant number of US and Israeli corporations have expressed great interest in investment. At the moment, the Polish Outsourcing and Offshoring sector employs over 225 000 people in over 800 business parks and centers across the country. Poland possesses a strong combination of advantages to develop it's role as a supplier of advanced business services. These include plentiful talent, conveniently situated in modern cities with lower labor costs than in Western Europe but with similar skills, an EU time-zone and a familiar legal code. - Adapt educational curricula to provide the more specialized needs of the sector, improving the quality of foreign language proficiency and specialized expertise in for example financial fraud detection and big data analytics.
- Offer growth incentives for local Polish finance and insurance service leaders to help them develop the scale and efficiency needed to compete globally by using the infrastructure of state-owned enterprises and the Polish capital market. This shall be done by opening an investment fund of 180 million Euros which private projects can apply for a grant of 40% of the total cost after private enterprises and venture capital have raised 60% of the funding needed. If the project is successful the sum of the grant given shall be re-payed with a small interest within a period agreed upon at the application for the grant.
- Develop and fund a broad international campaign to promote Poland as an European champion of outsourced and offshored business services.
- Help Poland's largest cities become magnets for O&O investors by establishing world-class investors´front desks and support services.
- Build strong industry associations to develop a growth vision for the industry and aligned educational programs.

The Polish population has since the fall of the communist regime gone through a period of stagnation, aging and contraction due a drop in fertility rates, increase in death rates and large-scale emigration. It is necessary to reverse these trends in order to provide a long term-model for stable internal natural growth in order to secure Poland's economic growth prospects without causing disruption to the nation's social fabric and strain on social services, leading to Polish avoidance of implementing western-style open-doors migration policies seen pre-Crimson Dawn. A comprehensive policy developed by studying the French family policy and later Hungarian family policy, the government hopes to stabilize Poland's fertility rates and achieve stable replacement levels over a long term. While the PiS administration's former family reforms including 500+ and Rodzina+ raised growth levels, further resources and further time is needed to, hopefully, reach a TFR of 1.9 or, if more successful, even higher by 2045. If significantly lower by the same period of time, the government will have to explore additional options to halt the degradation of the workforce. A significant portion of GDP will be allocated over time to the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy to achieve these goals.

* Active Measures.
- A monthly child allowance proportionate to the number of children in the family shall be made available, 100 Euros for one child, 185 Euros for two, 300 Euros for three and 450 for more than three children.
- A marriage allowance shall be universally instituted and payed out to newlywed couples. It shall be at the amount of 45 Euros per spouse for the first 24 months of the marriage. To be eligible both persons must have a clean criminal record and at least one of the spouses must be below 35 years of age.
- A universal one-off child benefit will be payed out to women who give birth, at 500 Euros per child or at 850 Euros in case of twins.
- A monthly childcare allowance equivalent to 70% of the applicants salary shall be made available and will be provided until the child's second birthday, this allowance will however not rise to a sum above 150% of the minimum wage.
- A housing support program will offer subsidized loans to couples if they promise that they will have one, two, three or four children. The size of support depends on the number of children the couple plans to have. To qualify for the housing support program least one of the parents has to be under 40 years of age, one of the parents needs to have full time employment, and both need to have a clean criminal record.
- Families with 3 or more children will be eligible for a tax reduction system amounting to 120 Euros monthly.
- Work with the Polish Catholic Church to promote nuclear family values. With more than nearly 87% of the population identifying as Catholic and over 58% identifying as observant worshipers after a slight uptick over the last decade, the Polish Catholic Church will provide a strong voice in the promotion of family values.
- Encourage the positive portrayal of family values in art and media.

The Federal Republic of Nigeria (from this point forward referred to as Nigeria), shall terminate the current legal system of Nigeria on the basis of racial and religious discrimination, wide spread corruption, wide spread inefficiency, disunity, and general confusion and complication added to Nigeria's political climate and system.

This includes the termination of all levels of judicial offices
Any and all current legal officials shall be screened for past cases, and judged for corruption by the Ministry of Justice.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria shall hereby instate a ban on religious and racial laws, on the bases, that regardless of race or religion an individual shall be judged by his moral character and actions and not by their genetics or lineage.
All persons tried by the law are entitled to legal council and a trial, the verdict of which, will be the decision of a council of their peers.
In the event the individual cannot get private legal council, the province or national government is required to provide the individual with one.
All persons weather they be a suspect or not, are entitled to privacy, and the investigative forces must receive government permission in the form of a search warrant.
Individuals cannot be arrested or put on trial without at least three pieces of incriminating evidence.

Hereby describes incriminating evidence as any device, record, or account, which directly links the said individual to the crime being conducted.
Entitles every individual to appeal their case on the basis of mistrial or further evidence.

Hereby defines a mistrial as a trial in which the individual believes his legal council was insufficient, his jury was in some way bigoted, or his judge was biased in some form.
Entitles every individual to a free trial, in which race, gender, religion, or any other means of discrimination are misjudged.
Establishes a 4 tiered court system in which the first level has original jurisdiction over criminal, civil, consumer, and child & family cases.
Hereby defines a Criminal Case as a case in which an individual has broken a law, individual may be prosecuted by the victim, victim's family, or the state.
Hereby defines a Civil Case as a case in which a civil disagreement between two individuals must be resolved, trials of this type will not involve a jury, but instead a judge who will have the job of mediating said dispute.
Hereby defines a Consumer Case as a case in which a Business is being convicted of mistreating, abusing, or tricking a consumer. Said cases, will only be prosecutable by the victim and/or his family.
Hereby defines a Child & Family case as a trial in which a marriage or divorce is being settled, and children shall be tried. Cases of this type will not involve a jury, and will only be prosecutable by the members involved in the dispute.
Hereby determines the Second (2nd) tier court, to be a court of appeals on the provincial level, at which an individual will make their case for an appeal of their trial. Present will only be a council of 7 Judges and no jury.
Hereby determines the Third (3rd) tier court to be the Provincial Supreme Court, which shall have original jurisdiction over provincial legislation, municipal disagreements, and Provincial or Local Political trials, as well as a second trial of appeals.

Hereby defines a Muncipial Disagreement as a disagreement between two municipalities or localities, to be judged by a council of 3 judges in the Provincial Supreme Court.
Hereby defines a Political Trial as a trial in which a Politician is a suspect.
Determines the Fourth (4th) and final judicial body to be the Supreme Court of Nigeria, comprised of a grand council of 9 Judges, who will have original jurisdiction over Provincial Disagreements, Constitutional or Federal Law Reviews, and Federal Political Impeachment; it shall also have the 3rd and final level of Appeals.

Hereby defines a Provincial Disagreement as a disagreement between two Provinces.
Hereby defines a Constitutional or Federal Law Review as the ability to bring an amendment or law up for legal review, in which the Supreme Court shall have the ability to strike it down for infringing on basic rights, or being morally questionable, or for the reason of being incomplete.
Hereby defines a Political Impeachment as the trial of a Federal Politician on the basis of misconduct, corruption, or any other judged reason.
To be considered a legal council, one must have fulfilled the following requirements:

Reform of the Nigerian Education System

Nigeria has reformed its education following its previous set of reforms a couple years ago. The new reforms establish a Spiral education system similar to the British education system. Required classes from Kindergarten to 12th Grade include History, Math, Science, English, and Gym. Elementary school will last from Kindergarten to Grade 5, and will select student's classes for them based on testing and overall performance the previous year. Junior High will last from Grade 6 to Grade 8 and will allow students more freedom, including selecting their own classes. Senior High school will last from Grades 9 to 12, students here will be allowed even greater freedom, and are required to take at least 1 extra curricular activity. Laws have been passed requiring Children to remain in the school system until age 16 at least. Furthermore police offices will now be placed in schools as Student Resource Officers and will have the job of maintaining school security. Schools will also be obliged to have school Councillors to maintain student welfare and wellness as well as aid students in completing paper, finding jobs, and planning out career and education paths. These reforms also remove gender based discrimination from public schooling allowing girls and boys into the same classes. Electives required to be offered include Agriculture Studies, Tech, Business, Arts, Foreign language, Tribal Studies, Western Studies, and Eastern Studies, these are required in all Junior and Senior high schools. Only slight differences will be allowed across provincial education systems and this law does allow some states to require Religious studies as an elective.

"Minister, my parents, my brother and his family all live in Gdansk, whose proximity to the Russian border with the Kaliningrad Oblast worries some locals as we see Russian aggression intensifying in the Caucasus with the second Russo-Georgian War, are they right to worry?"

Waszczykowski exhaled, his expression softening as he adjusted his glasses. "I understand their concerns and why they could feel fear. It is true that Russian aggression is an increasing problem, in Georgia, in Kazakhstan we are seeing the Russian Armed Forces making significant gains with little casualties, seemingly sweeping any opposition out of their way. But, it is important to remember that both Georgia and Kazakhstan were isolated on the world stage, neither were members of NATO, neither were members of the EU. Poland is a member of both and we are hosting two US military bases on Polish soil, guaranteeing our security. For Russia to attempt something in the west it would face a strong alliance and not an isolated state. Say what you will about the Russian government but they are no fools, they know this just as well as we do. There is nothing to fear."

"Very well, those are heartening words but the fact remains that Russia is engaged in two conflicts as we speak. Has the government been monitoring the situation on the ground in the conflict areas? Is the ministry of foreign affairs well-informed on the subject?"

"Certainly, we are working close with our international partners to have as clear an image of the situation as possible. We are already looking into ways of providing humanitarian assistance to the people who have been displaced and affected by Russian aggression as we are holding talks with the UNHCR to possibly increase Poland's financial contribution to the organization to they can provide better shelter, medical care, food and other basic necessities needed by those who have been affected by the conflicts. In addition to this, we are working with the Ministry of the Interior and other organizations to provide targeted aid to the Polish community in Kazakhstan and facilitate a safe, easy way for them to move to the country that their grandparents were forcibly and violently deported from during the Second World War and subsequent rule of the Communist regime."

"I see, is the government worried about the safety of the Polish communities in the post-Soviet states?"

"I'm afraid that the government is increasingly worried in that regard. The Kazakh conflict was in no insignificant part caused by the Tek Qazakhstan movement, ultra-nationalists feeding strife between the Kazakh and Russian communities in the country. There is a possibility that the Polish community can either be targeted or caught in the crossfire. There are around 50 000 poles in Kazakhstan and the government will be working closely with the embassy in Astana and the Foundation of Aid to the Poles in the East and it's local subsidiaries to make these people aware of the opportunity to migrate to Poland and of the aid which will be made available should they wish to make such a move. The foundation will work with it's local subsidiaries in Russia and Belarus as well to make our compatriots in those countries aware of the opportunity to move to the country of their origin, where they don't need to fear war, as those in Kazakhstan or persecution as those in Belarus."

Policymakers at Work

Approximately 250 million EU citizens live within 1000 kilometers from the Polish border, providing Polish farmers and food processing companies a large and dynamic market to take advantage of. In order to tap into the revenue from this potential market, Polish farms must close the productivity gap when compared to farms in Western Europe, something the government hopes to achieve, in part, with the Agricultural Revitalization Bill. However, further action is needed to make Poland a viable candidate as one of the EU's top suppliers of foodstuffs and active measures have to be take to channel hopefully increased farm output into higher-value goods. Poland is uniquely positioned to become a major food supplier and numerous Polish food-processing companies have invested in modern production-line infrastructure, especially in dairy, meat, frozen foods and beverages, setting an example for others to follow.

* Active Measures.
- Encourage further investment in intellectual property as well as R&D in such areas as nanotechnology in the areas of conservation, filtering, and packaging innovations in order to promote technological development and encourage closer cooperation between academia and the agricultural sector.
- Seek opportunities to consolidate food processors to gain much needed scale, including the adoption of a cooperative business model for fragmented producers.
- Increase food product complexity and move up the value chain, for instance by increasing focus on organic produce and products for specialized diets popular in the West.
- Build the strength of Polish brands, preferably with help from Western European retailers with special focus on categories such as poultry, pork and dairy where Poland has a strong position in the EU foodstuffs market.
- Acquire foreign brands as needed to serve export markets.

The process manufacturing sector emerged as a powerhouse of Polish economic growth after the fall of the communist regime and subsequent market liberalization. The sector includes strong segments in vehicle manufacturing, furniture production, food processing, textile production and chemical production among others. The industrial sector is second only to the service sector in advancing Poland's competitive position and as such is poised for expanding it's share of the international market. Measures taken regarding the manufacturing sector shall be built on solid, proven advantages of the Polish economy as has the potential to become a powerful engine of growth over the coming decades. However, in order to do this some changes must be made to the current Polish growth model. Polish companies must diversify their selling points from competing on costs alone to competing on brand and technology as well, as Poland's industrial sector cannot and will not be successful on a predominantly lower labor cost model in the long term. To build scale and promote growth the following active measures will be taken by the government.

* Active Measures.
- Encourage sector consolidation in Poland as well as the acquisition of foreign players to gain scale and enter new markets.
- Expansion of the Polish export market in part by establishing production outside of the EU to connect directly with the fast-growing markets of Africa, Asia and South America.
- Facilitating the move up in the value chain for producers by financially encouraging the development of R&D centers and investments in proven technologies by opening an investment fund of 150 million Euros in yearly state grant money which companies may seek support from to fund 40% of the cost a given project after private enterprises and venture capital have already raised 60%. If the project is successful the sum of the grant given shall be re-payed with a small interest within a period agreed upon at the application for the grant.
- Facilitate further development of the cluster-model to promote cooperation, knowledge-sharing and significantly improve the efficiency of supply chains.
- Encourage improvement to operational practices to improve and/or maintain cost advantages.

Technologically advanced industries in Poland, such as advanced manufacturing and pharmaceutical production contribute around 3% of the total economy compared to 7% in Germany and 4.5% in Czechia. While the adoption of foreign technology has helped tremendously in increasing Polish economic growth the nation's future as an advanced economy is dependent on the development of advanced technologies at home. Yet, given it's size, Poland's advanced industries have a strong indirect effect on the overall national economy as the contribute positively to the performance of numerous other industries. Active public policy measures shall thus be taken by the government to encourage technological development and produce an environment more conducive to high-tech growth.

* Active Measures.
- Invest around 200 million Euros yearly in the development and expansion of high-tech industry clusters around the nation, providing firms with environments conducive to large scale cooperation and knowledge exchange.
- Implement programs to strengthen ties between business and academia to ensure that the talent needs of high-tech industries are met.
- Allocate public spending and support to R&D driven projects to stimulate research.
- Implement a state debt guarantee which shall be made available to mitigate risks of high-capital R&D projects.
- Increase the targeted R&D spending through the removal of tax barriers and access to financing through venture capital.
- Increase state spending on research and scientific development from 1.6% of GDP to 2.1%.

There are over 700 000 poles living in the post-Soviet states and over 400 000 in those post Soviet-States not part of the EU. The status of Polish minorities has been in flux since the fall of the Soviet Union, for example the Polish community in Kazakhstan has generally been seen in a positive manner by the Kazakh majority while the Polish community in Belarus has faced repression and persecution under the Lukashenko government. In light of the situation in Kazakhstan with the ongoing conflict and in Belarus with the ongoing repressions, it is the intent of the government to help the poles of the east to return to their homeland where they can be safe and secure. The government will work with it's embassies, consulates, the Foundation of Aid to the Poles in the East and local Polish community and cultural organizations to stimulate the return of the Eastern Polonia. Persons of polish descent in the east shall have the ability to apply for a Charter of Return. The Charter will be granted to people who do not have Polish citizenship or permission to reside in Poland and who are citizens of the former Soviet Union states who declare their belonging to the Polish Nation and meet the following requirements.

* Eligibility Requirements.
- The person proves his/her relationship with Polishness by at least a basic knowledge of the Polish language, which is considered their native language, along with knowledge and cultivating Polish traditions and habits.
- The person submits a written declaration of belonging to the Polish Nation in the presence of a consul of the Republic of Poland or an authorized employee of a Polish organisation.
- The person provides documented proof that at least one of his/her parents or grandparents or two great-grandparents were of Polish nationality or held Polish citizenship.

* Charter Holder's Rights.
- The person is exempt from the obligation to have a work permit and residence permit required for foreigners.
- The person has the right to set up a company on the same basis as a citizen of Poland.
- The person has the right to study, do a doctorate and otherwise fully participate in the educational system on the same basis as a citizen of Poland.
- The person has the right to fully utilize the public healthcare system on the same basis as a citizen of Poland.
- The person has the right to free admission to all state museums.
- The person's spouse/partner has the right to accompany the person and enjoy the same rights as the person in question.
- The person's children have the right to accompany the person and will enjoy the same rights as the person in question.
- The person is granted the opportunity to seek financial assistance for repatriation.

* Rights not granted by the Charter
- Polish Citizenship, however it opens a fast-track option to acquisition of citizenship.
- As the Charter of Return does not grant Polish citizenship, it also does not grant access to free movement in the Schengen area, only giving access to enter the Republic of Poland.

Germany Pledges to Increase Public Spending
Defence and Infrastructure are primary beneficiaries as Europe’s largest economies steam towards integration.

Munich, Germany - Per capita, Germany has long been a trading giant in the world. Exporting advanced equipment throughout Europe, Asia and beyond, the nation’s small and medium enterprises have become renowned for their flexibility and innovative spirit. But for many years now, the fiscally conservative German government has been criticised for clutching its purse springs to the detriment of both the German and European economies. Having run a surplus for decades, critics argue that Germany is effectively hamstringing the development of its own domestic markets in favour of concentrating on exports. However, with recent declarations from the European Federation and Chancellor Martin Shopfer, this would appear to be changing.

As part of an agreement between member-states of Europe’s Federal project, a number of the continents most powerful economies have pledged to increase their deficits to 2% of GDP in order to rapidly accelerate economic growth. Although such public spending would still appear conservative when compared to the deficits being run by global giants such as China and the United States, it is a marked shift in policy from Germany. In a speech to the Reichstag, the Chancellor outlined his proposal that would help fund the $USD 2 trillion in infrastructure spending for Europe (composed of grants for the Federation and zero-interest loans for EU members) and ultimately an increase in defence spending of more than $USD 67 billion per year throughout the Federation. Many economists have pointed to the harmonization of the Federation’s defence forces as helping to cut down on excessive costs estimated at nearly $USD 16 billion.

Although the governments of the Federation have not publicly announced where all the additional defence spending will go, they have revealed tentative plans to develop a European Marine Response Force based off of the Juan Carlose amphibious assault ships. Modelled after the Marine Expeditionary Forces of US Marine fame, they would represent a sizable increase in Europe’s ability to deploy forces overseas. Anonymous sources have also revealed that the Federation is planning to spend nearly $USD 70 billion on new equipment in the coming years, bolstering its under-equipped armed forces with thousands of new tanks, armoured fighting vehicles and mobile artillery in a thinly veiled effort to match and even numerically overcome the fighting forces of Russia.

In addition to the infrastructure and defence spending bills, there was a notable increase in spending on the Federation’s space agencies as well - with all members pledging to spend 0.22% of the GDP on common ESA projects. Although not as much of a spending increase as defence, this perhaps signals a renewed focus on space exploration for Europe as the joint NASA-ESA manned moon landing is slated to occur at Europe’s Lunar Village. It also comes just after France’s CNES revealed that it had successfully validated its ability to beam solar power back down to Earth in the form of microwaves, perhaps opening up the door for a larger scale pilot plant to be constructed.

After the recent, yet gradual and mindbogglingly slow, announced Eurozone exit, attention has once again gathered upon the small North Eastern Republic of Latvia. The hectic and frankly strange Presidency of Julija Stepanenko has been given the international media eye for near enough the first time in her life. Western media outlets have now recorded the failure of her flash election and other events, such as the Latvian media smear campaign, in a more detailed manner to their foreign audiences. Despite the seemingly negative digging up past events and failures, it has in a way legitimised her position in her office due to the international attention and recognition she has accumulated. Such notoriety has cemented her position as near enough the most controversial and impactful President of the 2020s, from being a minute figure in pre-riot Latvian politics to being on every newspaper stall in Europe for her bold lobbying and action, some could say she has solidified her legacy. Her reforms and changes, for better or for worse, can only be judged by the passing of time.

The abandonment of the Euro has sparked online conspiracies that the Latvian political system has sided with the East and is attempting to actively undermine the European Union and it's ideals, such currently fringe theories are mostly mentioned through the internet and are a result of pro-European member frustrations. This has not stopped publications from picking up these concepts and conspiracies, especially within the Baltic States.

In terms of economics, financial thinkers are split on the leaving of the Eurozone. More financial freedom for some means less connectivity with European trade for others, both supporters and the opposition are narrowly split it would seem. Currently some political philosophers and leading European figures may see the Latvian exit as foreshadowing of further European instability and ruptures between nations in the Union. Not nation has ever left the Eurozone so it's affects can't truly be predicted or foretold reliably, history will be taking the metaphorical wheel of the unfolding events.

Presidential Complaints

Within Latvia the leaving of the Eurozone has been the final nail in the coffin for a bright 'liberal' future, the departure has been taken a signal by some that the current Latvian government is pursuing regressive & reactionary policies for the vague public approval of sentimental nostalgia. Some have also blamed the rise of KPV-LV for the sudden currency change, this is attributed to them due to their populist platform and agenda while also their expressed favour of the reform. There is also the prospects of changing currency through banks which some may find as an annoyance.

Although, despite the criticism, some members of the public have expressed support for the reform; many argue that it is a small step in retaking the national identity of Latvia and it's economy.

It is clear to see, through all the praise and criticism, that President Stepaņenko has little concern for popularity polls as she is not legible constitutionally for a third term. This may mean more aggressive implementation of policy as her Presidency nor her minor political party are truly at risk.

Birth of the 'Sovereignty Group'

The political party 'KPV-LV' have founded a new European Parliamentary group after their announced distaste for the current political climate in the Union, although it is presumed that party heads did not want to cooperate or settle with a group that has affiliated with their political opposition. It's has been officially named as the 'Sovereignty Group'; In essence the new group can be summarised as being a populist orientated euro sceptic alliance with an underlying anti-federalism idea. It's online published manifesto has stated that they value 'Independence, Self-Reliance and Culture', primary tenants that the group which they claim to relay on. Unlike most Eurosceptic groups the SG employ 'big tent' politics due to 'a shared desire of freedom'.

It is unknown if any other political organisations within Europe will join the group due the inexperienced and low ranking political background of it's founders within the KPV-LV. If the group succeeds experts and journalists alike have expressed concern that it would essentially become an obstructionist group to a streamlined Europe, it is presumed by interviews and reports by the KPV-LV that if given the chance the group would force the European Union to simply become a decentralised trading partnership as it ensures European Independence.

When Marxist regimes ruled over Poland and Eastern Europe, the Polish government had worked on establishing strong ties with Vietnam. A student exchange program was established as well as a migration quota that has resulted in an around 70 000-strong Vietnamese community in Poland today, the country's largest foreign community of non-European origin. The Vietnamese community in Poland was well-integrated into Polish society and were largely viewed in a positive light by the Polish majority, perhaps slightly strange in a country which had become known for it's opposition to migration. Poland was now hoping to reestablish this relationship which had been forgotten by those in power in Warsaw after the fall of Communism. The counties have had similar historical experiences, both having been attacked and invaded by larger, more powerful communist regimes, namely Russia and China respectively.

But Vietnam was not the only nation in Southeast Asia that Poland hoped to form stronger ties with and that was the Kingdom of Thailand. A nation that was a significant regional power and whose economy served as an "anchor economy" for the entire region, an economy that Polish corporations could make worthwhile investments in to gain a foothold in the region, similarly as there was interest in investing in Vietnam which would give Polish companies a stronger international position, indeed many saw the value of a deeper economic partnership with the two rapidly growing Southeast Asian nations. Another country in the Far East that Poland hoped to increase it's ties with was South Korea, further investments from the strong, leading Chaebol's such as Samsung would be very welcome in Poland and the two nations had been working increasingly close in matters of military industry, the Polish AHS Krab self-propelled gun was in fact based on a slightly modified K9 Thunder chassis. The government in Warsaw hoped to work together with their counterparts in Seoul in order to improve the flow of trade and capital between the nations and hoping to attract investments from the great South Korean companies.

However, once would not reach any kind of success by leaving local issues unaddressed, Eastern Europe had emerged from communism and since the mid-2010's nations such as Czechia, Poland and others had risen to become well developed with robust, dynamic economies. Once a nation of emigrants with over 2.3 million people leaving for greener pastures in Western Europe, Poland gradually became a nation where more people returned back to the old country as conditions improved than there were people who made the decision to leave and a country where many Ukrainians had come to find their fortune away from the spectres of oligarchs, war and the Russian shadow that loomed over their homeland. The strong opposition to Western-style mass immigration by the V4 nations even when faced with threats of EU retaliation had led the government in Warsaw to hope of turning the V4 into a larger group of cooperation for Eastern European nations. Making it into a strong conservative-rightist, more nationalistic counterweight to a generally more globalistic and left-leaning Western half of the EU. As Poland was the largest economy and military in the V4, a more active Visegrad Group could give Poland a greater opportunity to shape Eastern European politics, gaining a greater position of power and making the V4 a "third, local option" for Eastern European nations otherwise stuck between asking the West for aid or submitting themselves to Russian influence.

Diplomatic Summit - Poland/USA

The trip across the Atlantic was a long one, flying over seemingly endless expanses of ocean was soothing, it was easy to fall asleep but the people aboard the Polish presidential airplane had other things to handle. Diplomats, business representatives and President Duda himself all had important business to attend to, the relations between Poland and the United States were of great mutual benefit for both nations and have as such grown greatly since the fall of the Polish communist regime. In this relationship Poland stood to gain investment from American corporations, good deals on weapons and a security guarantor while the Americans gained a hub for economic investment and a position from where they could deter and counter Russian geopolitical ambitions in Eastern Europe. For nearly forty years this relationship had slowly, steadily grown and it was the hope of President Andrzej Duda that the meetings over the following days would only serve to strengthen and improve those relations. He and the corporate representatives that accompanied him all hoped for significant American investment in the Polish economy, especially in the high-end service sector while representatives from the Polish MOD were hoping to cut good deals on arms for the military.

As the column of vehicles carrying the Polish delegation rolled from the airport and through the streets of Washington under a police escort, President Duda was looking forward to meeting with President Stewart. He never had a chance to meet the man when he had been in Poland as he and former Polish President Kaczynski had discussed economic partnerships and, most importantly, the situation of US forces in two permanent bases on Polish soil, a much better security guarantee than simply ink on paper stating Polish membership in NATO. As the motorcade pulled up to the White House and rolled to a stop, President Duda and his following stepped out of their vehicles and passed the US marines who stood at attention, first the US national anthem could be heard as they walked up toward the gathering of American government officials, at the forefront of which Stewart himself stood, his posture confident. As they approached the Polish anthem was played after the American one and the two heads of state shook hands as cameras flashed and recorded.

Following the slight show of Pompousness, Stewart led his Polish counterpart inside and to the guest book signing. Following that he walked with him to the Oval Office. Walking in Stewart said “How was your flight my friend?”

“Long.” Duda said with a slight chuckle. “But that doesn’t matter, I’m very glad to be here and to speak to you. And by the way, former president Kaczynski and my own personal friend sends his best wishes.” Andrzej said and straightened his tie, sparing a thought for the man who in some ways had been his mentor when he entered politics. “So President Stewart, should we start the meeting? I believe that further economic partnerships and the possibility of military procurement are the main agendas of the day?”

“Tell him I said hello. And yes you are correct. How about we start with economics. I would like to see Poland enact reforms to make it easy for American companies to operate out of Poland. I can see you becoming the regional operations center for our companies.” Stewart said.

“I see.” President Duda said scratching his chin, having Poland become the center of American economic investment and operation in Eastern Europe would be an immense boon to the Polish economy. “We have recently passed reform packages that included the creation of venture capital funds that extend loans of up to 40% of a project’s total cost. If they project is successful the loans will be paid back with a small fixed interest rate and if they project is unsuccessful the Polish state would share in the losses. Access to these funds are fully available to both domestic and foreign entities so American companies wishing to invest can take advantage of this support. We could discuss an agreement where US companies that agree to open and run an operation in Poland for at least 12 years can receive an up to 6% corporate tax break for a 5-year period. Would you like to propose some other measures as well?”

“I believe your current offer is overall highly generous however I might request clear intellectual property protections as well as perhaps government assistance in finding property etc. I also believe it would be beneficial to provide a thoroughly checked list of local providers for necessary services and a checklist of local charity groups that companies can feel safe about donating too.” Stewart replied.

“I’m glad you think that, and regarding aid with possible legal hurdles and general help to investors, all companies can turn to the Polish Investment and Trade Agency which is tasked with providing just that, in our recent economic reform packages we have made efforts to improve the quality of service rendered by the PITA by an addition of 3 million Euros yearly to the PITA’s budget and we will task the Agency to compile a list of charities for American businesses to choose from to raise their public perception among the Polish people. Other measures taken primarily in the Business and High-End Service Extension Package include provisions for the establishment of what we hope will become world-class private investor’s front desks and support services though it may take up to a year or two for these later projects to reach effective operations.“ President Duda said.

Stewart nodded saying “Well then, I guess we can move on to defense unless you had something?”

“Only one more thing.” President Duda said raising his finger. “I have plans to restart the Polish shale gas extraction industry during my current administration, currently focusing on exploratory drilling will in the Lublin Trough, centered around Batorz, Chrzanow and Turobin which sit atop proven reserves and are far from major rivers and water reservoirs. American energy companies have experience with shale extraction and Poland sits atop an estimated 7.5 trillion cubic meters of shale gas and about 1.8 billion barrels of shale oil. 50% of the project will be owned and operated by the PGNiG but the other 50% is open for bidding, including later more shares held initially by the PGNiG, we would welcome US energy companies investing in this project as they have much experience and can give access to modern extraction and purification equipment in order to minimize pollution. Do you think US companies would be interested?”

“I definitely think they will be. I can have my staff arrange for a meeting between you and ExxonMobile and perhaps a few others. Is that all on that front?” Stewart replied.

“Both I and representatives from PGNiG and PKN Orlen would be very glad to meet with Exxon.” Duda said with a warm smile. “And yes, I think we are done on that end. In regard to defense, Poland would very much like to continue the fruitful partnerships we’ve had with American defense companies in modernizing the Polish Armed Forces, to this end. I would like to propose an arms purchase which will include, 12 F-35 A’s, 24 F-15 X’s and 6 full MEADS Anti-Air batteries with an ammunition complement of 210 missiles. In addition to this there would be a possibility to upgrade the 48 Polish F-16 C/D Block 52+’s to the F-16 E/F Block 60 configuration. How much would that potentially cost?”

Stewart turned to his military advisors who had written an estimated figure on a paper. Taking it he read it aloud saying “It appears about 7.3 billion USD for everything.”

“Not an insignificant sum.” Duda replied, straightening his tie. “I would hope we can split the bill into four parts and pay them off until 2032, paying 1.825 billion dollars yearly for four years?”

“I’m sure that will be fine.” Stewart replied.

“I’m glad, thank you.” Andrzej said with a smile. “Now if there is nothing else you would like to bring up we can go smile for the cameras at the press conference, yes?”

“There is one more matter. I would like Poland to host a CIA base near Kaliningrad if possible.” Stewart replied.

“Hmm.” Andrzej muttered in thought, leaning back in his chair. “It would be possible, but it needs to be kept silent. Russia has been acting especially erratic lately and I wouldn’t want to escalate the situation further. If the CIA wants to set up a safe-house or other clandestine base of operations I can recommend either the town of Krynica Morska or Elblag. Krynica is a small resort town so during the summers there is great movement of people, easy to blend in but during the winters it would be harder. Elblag is much larger, with over 120 000 people living there and is situated further inland, though it still offers access to the Vistula Lagoon through the Elblag Canal. It is up to you to decide which would suit the operation better.”

“Thank you. Is there anything else you wanted to discuss my friend?” Stewart replied.

“I think we are more or less done here my friend.” President Duda said and rose from his chair as the American President did the same, shaking his hand. “Time to go out and handle the press?”

“Indeed my friend.” Stewart replied.

Diplomatic Summit - Poland/Germany

Around two weeks ago the Polish government had begun talks with several national governments regarding the establishment of bilateral treaties to further the ambitious goals of the government in Warsaw. One of the most important correspondences had been the one with Berlin. Once, during the 16’th and 17’th centuries the border between the then various German states and the Kingdom of Poland-Lithuania had been among the most peaceful borders in Europe across which trade and the exchange of ideas could flourish. This changed with the rise of a belligerent Prussia all too eager to exploit the internal problems of Poland-Lithuania which led to a long period of enmity between the Poles and the Germans as Prussia joined with Austria and Russia to partition the failing Polish-Lithuanian state. This enmity culminated in the orgy of terror that was Nazi occupation during the Second World War under which over six million Polish citizens were killed, including almost the entire Jewish community in the country. Swapping bubonic plague for cholera, Poland swapped nazi occupation for marxist occupation and for the communist regime installed in Warsaw by the Soviet occupants, West Germany was the nearest enemy.

After the fall of communism however, relations with Germany had been mending steadily to the point where Germany had become Poland’s by far largest trading partner and hosted a sizable community of poles who had emigrated westward in the early 2000’s. Membership in the EU brought the two nations closer together and the Polish-German border seemed to return to it’s old 16’th century heritage as a peaceful one across which trade flowed back and forth in great abundance.

Thoughts came and went as President Andrzej Duda chewed on his croissant, gazing across the expanses of his country as the small train raced toward the western border. His destination was Schloss Meseberg, an old baroque palace about 65 kilometers north of Berlin which served as the official retreat of the German Chancellor and the official state guesthouse of the Federal Republic of Germany. Waiting to meet him, was Chancellor Martin Schopfer.

There were a few news reporters there to document events, the men and women eager to get a line or two from the national leaders, but it was a fairly low-key event. As two neighbouring nations and members of the EU, such meetings were common and friendly enough that the regular news cycle had lost most of its interest. Sure, they would report on any outcomes or events after the fact, but would viewers really be interested in an extravagant show of taxpayer-funded pageantry? Almost certainly not, and so Schopfer had come to prefer the smaller, more personal meetings such as this. He also found that he could normally get more work done when he didn’t have to spend half the day marching to some public relations tune.

Greeting his guest before leading him to a modest conference room within the building, he made sure to shake the hands of all of Poland’s negotiating team - knowing some of the staffers from prior meetings and having put in the effort to learn the names of the rest. Taking his seat, Schopfer offered President Duda a friendly smile. “So, Andrzej - shall we get started? My understanding is that our main agenda item is joint infrastructure projects between out two countries.”

“Yes, that is indeed the main agenda.” President Duda said and smiled back toward the German Chancellor. “But there are other things I would like to talk to you about as well, Martin.” The Polish President said as he turned and looked around the grounds, there was a calm serenity about this place, quite unlike that of the Presidential Palace or the Belweder in Warsaw where he spent most of his time. As they entered and made their way toward the room which had been prepared the two national leaders conversed and exchanged the customary pleasantries.

President Duda sat down in one of the baroque chairs opposite Chancellor Schopfer. “Yes, the day’s agenda is still ahead of us isn’t it Chancellor.” The Polish President said with a smile to the Chancellor. “And as you said, infrastructure is our main topic of discussion. You see Martin, the Oder marks the border between our two nations and presents a great opportunity for us. If we were to invest in the river’s regulation and make it more accessible to riverine traffic we could increase the flow of goods between our countries. With new loading/unloading facilities in Gliwice, Wroclaw, Eisenhuttenstadt and Frankfurt-an-der-Oder we could stimulate the barge traffic on the river. The Oder-Spree canal in Germany and Gliwice Canal in Poland have the capacity to connect Berlin directly to the greater Katowice agglomeration allowing for barges carrying up to 1500 tons of goods to move along the waterways. Such an undertaking would increase the trade between both of our countries and revitalize a highway we have not used to its full potential, wouldn’t you agree?” Andrzej said with a smile and reached for one of the glasses of mineral water placed on the table before them as he later leaned back in his chair, sipping the cold drink.

Nodding along as he listened to his Polish counterpart’s words, Martin couldn’t help but grin at the proposal. “I am certainly in favour of such a proposal, and I have to say that I admired the ambition in the notes that your staff sent over prior to the meeting. Increasing trade between our two countries and enabling more integrated supply lines for our private companies would boost both of our economies. Not to mention those of the wider Euro-area.” The Chancellor paused for a moment. “Although how much would such a project cost, and would developing our rail links be a more effective investment? Or perhaps a riverine and rail network could compliment one another?”

“Well.” Andrzej said, straightening his tie after listening to the Chancellor’s words. “That depends on our ambitions. The base project with new river-ports in the cities I mentioned and renovations of current canal routes would amount to an estimated cost of around 850 million Euros. If we want to be more ambitious, deepening and widening the river to allow for barges carrying up to 3000 tons of goods each to sail the river would cost up to 3.5 billion. In contrast, the construction of a high-speed rail-link using the most modern technology and rolling stock available to cover approximately the same distance would cost 11 billion Euros, of course, existing low-speed rail-lines could be modernized for a sum of around 700 million. And I think, and I suppose you agree that this new waterway would act as a complement to existing and future railways and roadways that already facilitate travel between Poland and Germany.”

“I concur, diversifying our transportation infrastructure would allow the private sector to determine the best method for their needs - rather than forcing every industry to cater to whatever our governments choose to thrust upon them.” Considering the options for a moment, the Chancellor continued. “Since we already have an ample rail network across Europe, perhaps it is best to focus our main efforts on expanding the waterways while we continue at the already-planned pace for rail modernisation. Given Ukraine’s inclusion within the Union and the expected increase in trade due to our free trade agreements with both China and the United States, I suspect that it would be worthwhile to invest in the more ambitious widening of the rivers. The increased transport capacity will hopefully allow our local industries to expand their supply chains to meet with the climbing demand from abroad, no?”

Andrzej gave a small laugh as he listened to the German’s words. “Well we’ve already tried forcing industry to comply with state directives in my country and lost over 40 years of development in the process.” Waving the joke aside he refocused on the business at hand. “I agree fully, the more ambitious project would be more beneficial in the long term and allow for greater traffic, and thus more trade and taxable incomes. Even though it will be more expensive it is the most sensible option. Regarding the expense however, how would you like to divide them in a fair and equitable way between our two states? Since most of the work will be undertaken on Polish land, it is only fair my government pays for a majority of the project, say 70 percent? And, of course, we can both apply for a grant from the new EU infrastructure fund.”

The Chancellor nodded. “That sounds reasonable to me, and it should be a good way for us to set an example for how projects using capital from the infrastructure fund can be run. To that end, we could make a strong statement by establishing some independent audit and corruption inspectors from the get-go. It’d be unnecessary for this project, I suspect, but if we hope to start encouraging business sentiment further east and to the south of the Union we’ll need to show investors that we are serious about our anti-corruption stance.”

“The Polish Police and the Central Anticorruption Office will be happy to work alongside and share information with their German counterparts in order to prevent corruption and bribery associated with the project, and also the other project I would like to speak to you about.” President Duda said somewhat absently as if it were self-evident. “Speaking of which, would you like to add anything regarding our riverine highway? I suppose we may start making offers to relevant engineering and construction businesses soon yes?”

“I think so, though I’ll leave the details on the bidding process and contracts to our staff and civil servants.” Martin cracked a smile. “I’ve learned over the years that they are by far the experts in such matters. I am willing to move on with our agenda.”

“Good.” Andrzej said with a slight smile and friendly nod. “The next subject I wanted to discuss is also economic in nature, at least in part. The other part regards weakening an old enemy of ours and relatively new enemy of yours. I’m sure you know which country I speak of.” President Duda said flatly. “Poland, Germany, the EU in general is far too dependent on Russia for gas and oil. Our economies are dependent on a geopolitical rival, at best, for key resources we need for our societies to function. With Russian aggression in both Kazakhstan and Georgia it is my opinion that our nations and the EU as a whole should look for new sources of fossil fuels.” The Polish President paused and took a sip of water before continuing.

“You see Chancellor. Poland has, according to a geological survey done by the Polish Geological Institute in 2013, approximately 7.5 trillion cubic meters of shale gas and about 1.8 billion barrels of shale oil. This is a resource I hope to begin prospecting by the end of my current term, which is something that will allow the EU to access a significant source of fossil fuel in one of its member nations which in turn will weaken Russia’s soft power over us as we will not be as dependent on them, I hope you like the idea as much as I do.” Andrzej said with a slight smile, leaning back in his chair.

Martin cracked a smile, leaning back into his chair as he considered the proposal. In the mid-2010s, a lot of hope and expectations had been tied to the potential of Polish shale. They ended up going nowhere, with a declining oil price and a lack of investor confidence with the US market proving far more profitable proving largely to blame. However, he couldn’t deny the geopolitical appeal of the idea, and it had certainly lived on in certain circles. With Russia having suddenly become more aggressive in the region and with the EU continuing on its march towards a greener future, a new source of natural gas could be useful. But it wouldn’t be cheap.

“An interesting proposition. Although we would have to be sure to avoid the mistakes of the past. One of the major stumbling blocks in the 2010s was the lack of investment in Polish gas infrastructure and expensive, long-term exploration. The Infrastructure fund could supplement private sector capital through low-risk loans for oil companies.” Martin paused. “I must say that I like the idea, but it might take some time to repay itself. We also have to ask ourselves if it’s worth the investment when the money could also be spent on renewable energy sources instead - energy sources that are likely to be more future-proofed.” The Chancellor didn’t mean to shoot down the idea, but it was definitely something that he believed they shouldn’t rush into. Although the infrastructure fund was ambitious in its scope, they still had to spend the money wisely. Pouring funds into a project to develop Poland that would become obsolete in a decade or two might not be worth the effort. But on the other hand, it could provide a useful boost to the European economy.

“Yes, it will be time consuming, and costly.” The Polish President said, slightly saddened by the fact. “According to a study by PGNiG the prospecting stage is expected to last around 2 years and it will take another three years for production to reach large levels. The work done during these years is estimated to cost between 7.5 to 8 billion Euros as it accounted for the use of modern wastewater purification systems, water recycling gear, the replacement of diesel-powered equipment, measures to minimize methane leaks and other much more green fracking technologies that are currently available to be used instead of cheaper legacy equipment. It raises the cost by nearly 1.5 billion but I believe it is the only way to go about this if we wish to do it in order to minimize water contamination and greenhouse gas leakage. Otherwise the backlash from environmentalist groups will be immense, another reason why the 2013 venture ended up dead in the water.” Andrzej took a sip of water before continuing. “Yes, Europe is greening, something I welcome as much as any other but the fact remains that we are directly funding the Russian state and military by buying gas that we will still need in the coming decades, not all EU nations have made similar strides toward a green economy as Germany or Sweden, and when all of Europe turns ever greener, the rising industrial powers in Asia such as India could become significant future purchasers.” The Polish President said, leaning back in his chair. “I would appreciate your opinion on the matter Martin.” Andrzej said with a smile.

"I believe that it will be a worthwhile investment." Martin stated after a moment's thought. "Even with investment and the development of new technology, replacing our energy sector with renewables will take time. This is especially true in eastern europe. Poland's gas fields will provide a cost effective means for countries to continue their development while avoiding the worst greenhouse gases from coal. Although we should be careful that we do not fall into the trap of seeing this as a substitute for our green initiatives."

“I’m glad you think that.” President Duda said, feeling a sense of relief washing over him. “Cautious exploratory drilling will be done in the Lublin Trough, centered around Batorz, Chrzanow and Turobin which sit atop proven reserves and are far from major rivers. The Polish government will aim to invest 50% of the cost through the state oil and gas company PGNiG. The rest of the shares will be opened for bidding by private energy corporations both local such as PKN Orlen and foreign. We hope that German energy companies will be interested in investing and we especially hope to cooperate with German industry to provide advanced purification and prospecting equipment to facilitate an operation as clean as possible. If the operation proves successful and the impact on the local environment has been studied, the Polish government will sell 15% of its shares in the project to interested foreign and domestic investors. Do you think German energy companies will be interested?”

“I would believe so, given the interest they’ve expressed in importing LNG from the Americans. A similar supply from within the EU should be even more appealing to them, but we must make a concerted effort to provide a clear regulatory framework to encourage investment - as well as the funding from the Infrastructure Fund.” It was a sizable project, but Martin had to admit that it was one that could easily pay off in the medium term if they could maintain the political will. “I suspect that other European and international companies would be similarly interested. Although with all that being said, I feel like we need to discuss part of the driving force behind this investment: Russia.” The Chancellor’s tone had become somewhat more serious, a frown betraying his unhappiness at the deterioration of relations with the EU’s eastern rival. “And in particular, what are your thoughts on how we should react to their recent activities.”

“Very good, I’m glad to hear that. Representatives from the Polish government and the PGNiG will be happy to meet and negotiate an updated regulatory framework to promote investor confidence and meet environmental protection standards. I’m sure we can come to a satisfactory agreement for all parts involved.” Andrzej said with a friendly expression. This expression did shift as the German chancellor began to speak of Russia, an issue in focus of Polish governments ever since the Crimean Crisis. Well, actually ever since King Sefan I Batory sat on the Polish throne in the 16’th century. “Russian aggression is growing… increasingly problematic. I think you know that my government is greatly concerned with the situations in Kazakhstan and Georgia. My predecessor, party colleague and close personal friend even lost his own brother to what may have been a Russian black operation. Poland takes the Russian threat very seriously, as the recent law regarding help with remigration of the Polish minorities in the Post-Soviet states clearly demonstrates, but any overt means are currently difficult. It was after all Georgia that was the aggressor in the recent conflict, we cannot do much now, especially after the Georgian government collapsed. What we currently can and must do is to learn how to counter Russia’s asymmetric tactics. We must use our intelligence services to make contact with Georgian partisans and holdouts, we can train them, fund them, arm them with black market equipment. If we get Russia bogged down in a drawn out guerilla conflict it will become increasingly costly for their economy. We must explore more direct options in cyberspace, an expansion plan will give Polish military intelligence an additional 55 million Euros yearly in order to increase the number of staff and the quality of hardware and software at the Cybersecurity Division. The ability to respond to future Russian aggression with a powerful cyber-attack could serve as a deterrent. In addition to this, our military forces need to present a credible deterrent posture along the borders.”

Martin frowned at the mention of Georgia. He had no idea what the small country’s government had been thinking when they had sent their army across the border. There had been no warning, no quiet communication with the EU or NATO to gauge their response. The country seemed to have either assumed that the Western powers would grant them a blank cheque - despite all the evidence to the contrary - or had thought that Russia would be unable to respond with the crisis in Kazakhstan. “The Georgian situation is definitely - to put it as our American friends might - a shitshow. But I fear that there is little for us to do other than to try and help the country survive the coming peace while we prepare ourselves for the long term. I’ve been speaking with the French and the other members of the Federation and we have agreed to begin the process of integrating our armies and increase our collective defence spending to 2% of GDP. It will take time for the money to be felt, but this will allow us to dramatically cut inefficiencies in our defence spending and should serve as an effective deterrent towards Russian aggression. Some of that money will go towards improving our asymmetric warfare capabilities, especially in the cyber domain.”

The Chancellor paused, trying to gauge his friend’s reaction to the expected news. “But I fear that this is a problem which we cannot face with money alone. You and I both know that there might be those who will try to stoke fear about the Federation as some kind of hegemon seeking to dominate Europe. More than anything, my priority is to try and dispel those myths - and I need your help to do it. Poland is viewed as a standard bearer for your region, and your support would go a long way to showing that the Federation intends for its army to be a defender of Europe, not an aggressor. We must also strive to ensure that whoever succeeds us - whatever party or government it might be - they cannot easily stoke nationalist divisions between us for political gain, weakening our common defence in the process. To that end, I was hoping that Poland and the members of the Visegrad Group could take the lead on developing the EU’s policy towards Russia. In doing so, this will prove that your countries have full agency and equal say in the direction of the Union. However, I’ll also need your help to prove to my own people that our efforts to aid in your nation’s defence is appreciated, rather than looked at as a hand-out.” Martin offered Andrzej a weak smile. “I apologise for throwing such matters at you all at once, but I hope that you can understand why this is such an important priority for me. Neither of us will stay in our positions forever, and it is our duty to ensure that what we build is able to last after both of us leave.”

“I would call it a shitstorm even. You know I actually hoped that we could get Georgia into NATO, perhaps even extend them an association treaty with the EU but now that’s all of the table. Madness is what Tbilisi displayed, madness and a fascinating level of stupidity.” President Duda said flatly with an exasperated sigh as he leaned back in his chair. “What we can do is, indeed as you said, help the state survive in the coming negotiations, but covert measures supporting partisans is also open. The AW will be making a risk analysis of that option which will be put on my desk in around three months according to them, I hope there will be no delays. I must also say I’m very glad to hear the Western nations are increasing their military spending. Poland was spending 2.01% of GDP on financing the military during my previous administration and this has risen further during my friend, close party colleague and previous President Kaczynski, the government further projects Polish military spending will restabilize on the new base level of 2.50% by 2030.”

Andrzej’s face lightened up as the German chancellor mentioned his support for the V4 and Poland’s increased role as an Eastern European policy shaper. This is a goal that the PiS has pursued in some form ever since the joint declaration of the V4 in opposition to migrant quotas during the 2015 Migrant Crisis, even in the face of threats of sanctions. The government under Kaczynski’s mandates had mostly focused on internal matters and trade with nations such as the Philippines and Israel, as well as the establishment of permanent US bases in Poland. Duda hoped to increase the activity of the V4 during his administration and maybe even expand the organisation to include more Eastern European nations, turning the organization into a forum for Eastern states to discuss common issues, challenges and solutions. “I’m very glad to hear of your support for the V4 and for the Visegrad nations to take a more active role in shaping Eastern European politics, I can say that does relieve some fears that I admittedly held regarding the Federation, fears that I can say that some among my party and our coalition members share.” Andrzej said, giving Martin a warm smile and curt nod. “The Foreign Ministry of Poland is planning to host a V4 summit in Krakow this year where we will discuss among other things, the Russian problem and the possibility of holding an Eastern Summit in 2029 which will include several other Eastern European nations to discuss common issues confronting our half of the continent. Please don’t misconstrue me Martin, I do not mean to be belligerent when I say this, but issues such as the Migrant Crisis showed that the interests of East and West do not always align, the Visegrad Group can provide a forum for Eastern European nations who are on average more conservative and nativistic that our Western counterparts to discuss joint policies and projects that would be either irrelevant, undesirable or unpopular in a more Western nation. Also, what type of assurance would you need for the people back home?” Andrzej asked.

The Chancellor nodded in agreement to his Polish counterpart’s comments. “Indeed, the migrant crisis as well as the Eurocrisis both exposed divisions within the Union. While the adoption of multispeed should allow some of these differences to coexist without causing friction, we must be blunt and determine what it is which really binds us together and then make a firm commitment to holding each other to that standard. In the past, Germany was hesitant to wield its financial muscle to bolster Europe, Poland reneged on commitments to a fair judiciary, and France engaged in hypocrisy with regards to government spending limits. We have to stop picking and choosing the rules that we each follow and decide what fundamental rights and beliefs we should unite behind.” Martin stated, knowing that he perhaps sounded like an idealist as he spoke. “A good way to start to heal these fractures is for both of us to publicly support cooperation between us and highlight the mutual benefits that come from it. This would involve me convincing my people that we have more to gain from investing in and supporting Poland than not, and you standing against those in your country who wrongly claim that Germany is some kind of imperial puppet-master pulling Brussel’s strings.” Leaning back in his chair, Martin offered his friend a smile. “One idea I admit that I have been toying with is to once again push for an EU constitution. Although I do not think that the time is quite right, it would be a bold statement for us to codify our common beliefs in our shared laws - while also limiting such a document so that it does not unduly infringe upon our sovereignty.”

Ignoring the comment about the judiciary, an… incident involving the constitutional court that occurred during President Duda’s first term between 2016 and 2020, he simply refocused on the negotiations at hand. “Multispeed was, if I may say, one of the most important reforms in the EU’s history. It was a win for all those who were fearful that the EU was a neo-imperialistic movement and restored confidence in each member nation’s right to more freely choose its level of integration. It did wonders for the life expectancy of the European project. And while I would, in due time, support a baseline EU constitution for all to follow, it has to be done very carefully as to not do more damage than benefit.” The Polish President said leaning back in his chair. “We would be glad to highlight the gains from the cooperation between our nations, especially regarding the gas extraction project. We intend to portray it as cutting one of the last ties with communism as we’ll no longer have to rely on the old Muscovite hegemons and their old Soviet Era pipelines, something that would have been much harder without our European partners in Germany and other nations, supplying modern high-tech extraction and purification equipment at decent price to minimize environmental damage. I am sure we can spin it quite well at home, there are few things Poles like more than kicking Russia in the shin, and if we can make money out of it? Well, that’s all the better.” Andrzej said with a small laugh. “You, on the other hand can bring back a story of Europe reducing it’ reliance on Russian gas, instead allowing for an EU nation to sell gas at a decent price and reduce its level of subsidization from EU structural funds, slowly turning from benefactor to contributor thanks to investments. What say you?”

Martin sighed in thought. “I hope that such measures will be an… example to some members of your party and your coalition. As there are some there who are quite vocal on both social and regular media with their anti-EU sentiments. A strong word from the President himself as we start drilling for gas that will give Poland a significant economic boost could serve to sway some opinions and further help stabilize the climate in the Union, instability only serves our adversaries, be they Russians or Chinese. Now, Andrzej, is there anything else you would like to bring up? Otherwise I think we can begin the press conference.”

“Only one thing.” I would like to offer the possibility of an arms deal. Poland would like to further replace the remaining PT-91’s in active service with the Land Forces and to that effect We would like to purchase 256 Leopard 2A5’s and to equip the Navy’s Miecznik Light Frigates we would like to acquire eight Rheinmetall-Oerlikon Millennium CIWS-systems, if would that be possible.”

“Indeed it would.” Martin replied. “The Millennium gun is quite expensive however, along with the technical documentation, ammunition and training, the eight guns will cost one billion dollars, with another 20 million for training and transfer of technical specs. The tanks would cost approximately 1.280 billion dollars for a combined cost of 2.3 billion for the whole purchase.” The German Chancellor said, leaning back in his chair awaiting the Polish President’s response.

“Very well. I would simply hope that we can split the payment over a two-year period. Aiming at the final delivery of the equipment in 2030 and a payment of 1.150 billion dollars in 2029 and another equal payment in 2030. Does that sound reasonable?”

“Yes I believe it sounds reasonable.” Martin answered. “As long as the payments come on time there will be no problems with the deliveries. Now if there is nothing else, shall we go smile a bit for the cameras Andrzej?” The German Chancellor said with a smile.

“Yes, that seems like a good idea, let’s go.” The Polish President replied with an equally friendly smile as the two men shook hands.

The Visegrad Group is a community that should be strong and vibrant, putting forward policies and solutions by Eastern European nations to work together to issues pertinent to us. This is why Poland would like to invite representatives from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia to Krakow in order to hold comprehensive talks regarding Eastern European issues.

Li Yating let out a sigh as he hung up the phone, thanking the man on the other end of the line for his time and a productive - if difficult - meeting. Leaning on his desk, the President of China rubbed his temples as he considered the sudden crisis that erupted off of his country’s border. One of his aids stood patiently to the side, knowing better than to immediately disturb him as he weighed the potential repercussions of the actions that were to come. For a minute, the room was silent apart from the rhythmic ticking of the clock that the President kept mounted on his office’s wall. It was even quiet enough that the aid thought that he could hear the sound of Beijing’s traffic through the sound-proof walls, until Li’s expression hardened as he stood determinedly from his seat.

“Contact the Military Commission and tell them to begin mobilizing the forces at once. We’ll be coordinating with the Russians in order to shore up the loyalists and nip this outrageous takeover in the bud. And inform Mr. Kim that we shall honour our obligation to support him.” Pulling his suit jacket from the back of his chair, the President put it on as he made his way towards his office’s exit, knowing that a public statement couldn’t wait. Li’s tone was serious, the gravity of his instructions not being lost on him. The aid nodded curtly in response.

“Might I suggest that we also reach out to other interested parties in the area? They might mistake our mobilisation to be directed elsewhere.” The man replied, already pulling out his own secure phone to make the necessary calls. He’d stepped aside to allow Li to make it to the room’s door, but the President paused at the advice.

“Good idea, Hui. Make it happen, and prioritise the South Koreans and the Americans - we don’t want them to think that we want to start World War Three over this. But make it clear to them that this is an internal ESPO matter. I don’t even want to think of the shitshow that we’ll be in if American tanks take this as an excuse to roll across the DMZ.”

With that, Li pulled open the door and marched purposefully outside, making no effort to hide his frustration. “And get in touch with out contacts in the Korean military! I want to know why the idiots in charge didn’t consult with us about this, and make it abundantly clear what will happen if they don’t stand down.”

China and Russia Condemn North Korean Coup Attempt
ESPO forces are moving with Kim loyalists to secure key infrastructure

Pyongyang – Megaphones on the back of trucks carried the voices of Korean loyalists as they called upon their brothers in arms to stand down and defect from the rogue generals who launched a coup attempt mere hours ago. With the backing of Chinese and Russian forces already stationed in the country, what seemed to have been an easy victory for military leaders upset with the Supreme Leader’s recent economic reforms has turned into an international incident. Both of the hermit kingdom’s two primary allies have come out in coordinated support for the Kim regime and have begun to leverage both the threat of military force and their influence within the North’s armed forces to push for the leaders of the coup to be brought to justice. With China and Russia supporting the regime, civilians have begun to come out in support for the loyalists and to express their discontent for the rebels. There have been scattered and unconfirmed reports of military units defecting back to the loyalists, with many regular soldiers of the North’s sizable army having been trained by ESPO forces and taught to be loyal to the Supreme Leader. Some have claimed that the outpouring of public support for the loyalists, backed up with the military might of ESPO will be enough to defuse the situation and force the rebels to lay down their arms. But, without any shots having been fired as of yet, it remains to be seen how this developing situation unfurls.

China Calls for Renewed International Efforts to Combat Climate Change
Mourning the extinction of the Baiji from the Yangtze River

Shanghai – The recent announcement of the extinction of a prominent dolphin species from China’s Yangtze River has evoked poignant obituaries from environmental groups around the world. Despite significant expenditure from the central government in efforts to sustain the aquatic mammal’s population, it seems that rapid population growth in the region and ongoing changes to climate was too much for it to handle. China’s Ministry of Ecology has publicly mourned the loss, but has argued that its extensive conservation efforts were all that it could have reasonably done. Instead, the Ministry has pointed the finger of blame squarely at the growing crisis of anthropogenic climate change and has called for immediate international action to combat greenhouse gas emissions. To that end, China has reaffirmed its pledge to peak its carbon emissions by 2030 or earlier - calling on other countries in the world to similarly take steps to step up their sustainability efforts.

Push for increased Gender Equality in China
Plan to raise awareness of women’s rights in the constitution announced by government.

Beijing – A spokesperson of the Communist Party announced a new program from the government focusing on ensuring that women’s right to equality under the Chinese constitution are met and defended. Women’s Rights groups have applauded the move as government ministries have been given the authority to launch public awareness campaigns and respond to allegations of discrimination within both the public and private sector. In an effort to change public perceptions, a concerted campaign to highlight high-achieving Chinese women and praising working mothers has begun nationwide while Party officials crackdown on stigma surrounding China’s so-called Leftover Women. In a statement to the press, the government stated that China’s greatest asset are the capabilities of its people, and it pledges to allow both women and men the freedom to achieve the Chinese Dream. Economic Reforms in China Aim to Combat Corporate Debt
Government sets its sight on shutting down so-called Zombie Companies.

Beijing – China’s record economic growth bred an insatiable desire for funding and capital, but in recent years that have been growing concerns over the rate of the country’s debt growth. Although the government debt still hovers at a manageable level, investors are increasingly nervous about the spendthrift attitude of companies within the Middle Kingdom. Analysts have pointed out specifically to the large debt-to-productivity ratio of State Owned Enterprises as a sign of inefficiencies within the public sector, even while China’s market enterprises continue to grow rapidly. Many have pointed out that overall government debt quickly balloons to more than 100% of GDP if SOE debt is included in the calculations. Announcing a concerted effort to rain in the problem at the risk of potential short-term pain, the Chinese government has announced plans to review a number of SOEs and force them to declare bankruptcy if they are found to be unprofitable and not necessary for the provision of a public good. Funding from the central government has also been set aside to help cover the costs of restructuring these companies’ debts while providing a degree of relief to some other companies that have borrowed beyond their means.

“Coupled with closer scrutiny from the central government, this move will hopefully make it clear to Chinese businesses that the government is no longer writing blank-cheques to fund unprofitable ventures.” Said Han Bai, an economist from Shanghai University. “While this may result in a slowdown of investments, it seems that the Chinese government has decided to take some short term pain in order to stabilise its financial health over the long term. The timing seems particularly interesting given the recent signing of the European and American free trade deals, which could help offset some of the immediate tightening of credit as investors still seek to take advantage of the new trading relationships.”

Republic of Iraq Issues Ultimatum to Kurdistan
Demands Iraqi Kurdistan or war!

BAGHDAD, REPUBLIC OF IRAQ The conflict between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Kurdistan has been heating up after its cooldown in the late 2010s. Despite Kurdistan’s de facto independence, the Republic of Iraq has always considered the region of Iraqi Kurdistan- referred to by Kurdish sources as Southern Kurdistan- part of the country, and refused to acknowledge the Republic of Kurdistan’s independence. With the recent string of Iraqi airstrikes against Kurdistan, killing around 300 people, analysts have worried the tension might boil over into a reignition of the Iraqi-Kurdish War. These fears have been realized today, with the Iraqi Foreign Ministry issuing an ultimatum to the government of Kurdistan. Despite figures within the Iraqi government calling the ultimatum “lenient” and “a gesture towards peace with the Kurdish government,'' the ultimatum demands the return of the entire region of Iraqi Kurdistan back to Iraq. Because of this, it is believed the Kurdish government will not accept the demands, but the Kurdish government has yet to issue a response.

D-Day - 2
Kurdistan

It was the middle of the night when the Mi-17s and Humvees thundered across the Iraqi-Kurdi border. There were only a couple of companies, give or take, but they were all Golden Division- special forces. They obviously weren’t expected to win the war that was coming, but their mission was invaluable- the seizure of bridges and other vital infrastructure, the destruction of fixed defenses such as SAM sites, the reconnaissance of Kurdish military camps- in paving the way for the real meat of the Iraqi Army. They would try to do what they could in 48 hours, and then link up with the spearhead units of the regular Army for the drive to Erbil.

H-Hour, D-Day
In Between Iraqi and Kurd territory

The Exclusion Zone, as it had been nicknamed, was not official. It would not be found on any maps. But it was far more real than anybody cared to admit. A sort of DMZ in between Iraq and Kurdistan, about a mile across. Some still lived in the border region- the area had become a mild haven for ex-ISIL insurgents in the late 2010s. The ISIL insurgents were history, but some civilians still lived around (and in very specific cases) in the zone.

Until now.

It was shortly after Night Prayer when the signal went out. It had been a week since the ultimatum had been issued. Diplomacy had failed.

The M1 Abrams tanks formed the spearhead, followed closely by the Bradley IFVs. Between those, the Humvees that tore across the desert roads, and F-16s, one could certainly be forgiven for thinking the Americans had launched the Third Gulf War.

“Gunner, HEAT, MMG nest!” Jawhar Benayoun ordered from the commander’s seat of his Abrams, “First enemy position spotted.” The Kurds had been expected an Iraqi assault, of course, but what the forces of Iraq were counting on- at least for these first precious, decisive hours of battle- was most Kurdish forces sleeping and their relative lack of modern night-vision compared to Iraqi forces (even if most Iraqi night vision tended to be from the 2010s rather than truly “modern”). The first position Benayoun had spotted had been unprepared for an armored assault. A handful of machine gun rounds rattled off the hull of the tank.

“Up!” Affirmed loader el-Kazemi from within the tank.

“Send!” barked the commander.

“On the way!” Farid confirmed, the entire tank shaking as the 120mm gun roared and the nest disappeared into an explosion and rain of sand, all seen through the infrared light of the Abrams’ electronics suite.

The Abrams rolled forward without stopping, following the rest of its platoon. Not all positions would be as easy to deal with or as small as that lonely lookout’s nest. For the larger Peshmerga troop concentrations, the bigger guns- artillery and air strikes- would cripple their capability, paving the way for mechanized infantry, supported by either Bradleys or simple M113s, to overrun the position and force the Kurds to surrender. At least, that was the plan.

And as an old Field Marshal had once said, no plan survives contact with the enemy. Even an operation as well-planned as Operation Isha.

Approximately two hours after the first tank rolled across the Exclusion Zone, helicopters of the 6th (Scorpions) Infantry (Air Assault) Brigade first reached the outskirts of Erbil. While most of the 6th’s push was to bypass Erbil, about a battalion went into the city itself.

“We are to secure the government district of Erbil and hold that ground!” Lieutenant Hamam reminded his two squads as the Mi-17 that was transporting them moved over the suburbs of Erbil, “I want barricades up as soon as we land. This will not be an easy fight, but we’ll only have to hold the line for a couple of hours, then the dirt-humpers will catch up to us and relieve us.” Theoretically was the bitter word that ran through Hamam’s head. Theoretically by the time the sun rose, ground forces would have reached Erbil.

An RPG zipped past the helicopter, causing the door gunner to open up with the PKP. The Mi-17 swung around, firing off a salvo of rockets that destroyed a rooftop full of resistance. The first helicopters reached the government district and dropped ropes. Soldiers started rappelling down. “Keep those NVGs on, come on, down, down, move, move!” Hamam waved his soldiers down the line before pulling down his NVGs and joining his soldiers in leaving the helicopter.

“Come on, let’s go, let’s go!” Sergeant Darwish was yelling at a group of soldiers who were quickly rolling out the Concertina wire obstacle to give some defense against enemy infantry, “We’re on the ground now, they’ll be here any minute!”

Soldiers ran around, breaching into buildings within the newly cordoned-off area, seizing weapons, taking up positions.

“Sniper!” Lieutenant Hamam shouted, pointing to a particularly high roof, “Set up your SASS up there, cover our approaches, and keep your ears open for target callouts.”

“Right away, sir!” Corporal Mokrani nodded, quickly running into the building behind a squad of regular infantry.

Everything was going good so far, there was no intense resistance yet; But Hamam knew that meant nothing. These next few hours would be the most harrowing of his life, he knew that much, regardless of whether or not his position got relieved on schedule. After all, they had dropped right into the hornet's nest.

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, returned to Moscow more or less satisfied with the situation in Ukraine. Sitting down at his desk in the Office of the President. Gazing out at the spires of the Kremlin. Their rouge faces and stylized crenellations from another era. He felt his age on his shoulders. He was in his late 70's now and knew that time was not on his side. But he never the less grunted and put those thoughts aside. Opening a series of files pulled for new appointees to his administration. Several ministers were in office under temporary interim appointments since the early 2020's. Before him were top picks, those likely to fit the transition and not face much opposition politically, while also being competent. Putin needed to solidify his legacy. His reputation as the one who pulled Russia out from the brink. He settled on a name. Aleksandr Vladimirovitch Romanov would be appointed as Economic's Minister. A position that would hold plenipotentiary powers over several other ministries such as Energy, preside over Gazprom, and the economic development bureaus as an example. Aleksandr was a student of Kudrin, the Finance Minister of Russia during the 2000s and widely regarded as crucial in pulling Russia out of the fiscal catastrophe that was the 90's. Putting aside this file Putin picked up another. The days would continue with the usual ceaseless work of listening to reports, forecasts, advise, and presiding over legislative bills.

Federal Address, 2027

Amid cheers of supporters and United Russia Party members the President of the Russian Federation took to the podium to give his address to the nation. The President smiled and adjusted his notes as he waved to a young child in the crowd. Earing a flash of many photos from journalists and newspaper photographers ringing the edges of the crowd or crouched before them. Clearing his throat the 77 year old and long time President of Russia began to speak. In a calm yet slightly exuberant tone. Pausing to enunciate particular words for dramatic effect.

Good Afternoon,

Today it is my pleasure to speak to you all on the state of our great Federation. We have come far from the dark days nearly thirty years. Like a phoenix from the flames. However, there are still challenges that our nation and people face. Problems which cannot be resolved over night or fixed quickly. Challenges that require all of us to continue pulling together as one people and nation to overcome--and through our consistent efforts will yield a stronger, safer, and prosperous Russia for future generations!

For those who have been following the news lately you may know that since the late 2010's there has been much effort and resources put into the National Healthcare Project. As of 2027, since the increased funding of the project began on July 25th, 2019, we have increased coverage to many rural communities. Building, expanding, and bringing up to code existing facilities to provide better physical and mental care for our fellow citizens. As of now, all of the 499 communities that were without modern primary care are covered by new facilities, all built by 2021, and have thus gone through several years of increasing efficiency. As budgetary allotment of 1.367 Trillion Rubles to the overhaul of Russia's primary health care system has yielded tangible results. However, there is still a shortage of Doctors and Paramedic Specialists. But progress is being made. As of 2018 there was a shortage of 170,000 doctors and paramedic specialists. By January, 2027 we have reduced that deficit to approximately fifteen thousand.

Next I will speak on the state of Russian Business and attendant governance. Russia has come far since 1999 but there is still work to be done. In accordance with the precedent established by Presidential Decree 601 signed into law on January 1st, 2013; will be Amendment A to Decree 601 which will move to reduce Federal and Sub-national oversight on all levels of business. Procedures and Permit regulations will be relaxed. Effectively eliminating the over 140 procedures and regulations to be followed with opening a Business in Russia being cut down to 56. Public Administration will, through attrition and merging, reduce overhead government spending and inefficiencies caused by a bureaucracy, which served well in the 2000's, has become top heavy. Note, this is all in the effort to increase the efficiency and modernization of the public administrative bodies of Russia. The Private Sector, as of Presidential Decree 704 which I will be signing into Law today. Will receive new incentives via tax breaks and exemptions for companies that show sustainable improvements in efficiency and automation. While, those wishing to start a business in Russia will not have to pay any capital gains taxes for the first year and be exempt from payroll taxation for three years should they pay their employees below the current Federal living wage. Businesses exiting the market will also feel reduced barriers and existing Federal regulation is halved to expedite insolvent companies dissolving and reforming as more successful enterprises without central oversight. In so being that they stay within Federal law.

Within the legal realms of business we will extending our efforts from the Federal Government diminishing its supervisory role in the Private Business sector and transition that jurisprudence to the Civil Law Courts. Further, the Civil Courts will be avoid of all executive tampering save on the grounds of a Federal Pardon.

Federal Anti-Monopoly policies will continue with renewed speed across all private sectors except for strategic, already nationalized, resources and parts of the economy like Defense. Federal Audits will be transitioned to Sub-national levels of government to increase local business autonomy and reduce Federal administrative costs. This will be done gradually over the next four years.

As you all know, our Police forces have been reformed since the 2010's and early 2020's. Completing the process just a few years ago. Federal budgetary allotments and audits have greatly increased the professionalism, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Russian Police forces. They serve our communities and our nation with much distinction.

Putin paused from his long monologue to clap for several Russian Police and OMON Officers standing and saluting the Russian flag. Before resuming the podium.

The world as you well know is a troubled place. Much efforts internal and external by our fellow ESPO comrades have gone into promoting integrity, peace, and prosperity across Eurasia. Else ware, Russia and Belarus have grown ever closer in mutual friendship. While to the South, under the watchful eyes of the Kadyrovs, the Caucasus has had continued decrease in insurgent activities year after year. In the Donbass (Putin holds up a peace of paper containing a Public release of the Russo-Ukrainian talks over Donbass) our Ukrainian brothers have accepted the olive branch extended by Russia. Even now, Russian and Ukrainian efforts are underway to rebuild the war torn region, and return it to its former glory.

Now, and as much as this brings me sadness to talk about the recent conflict with the nation of Georgia. I am most relieved to tell you all, fellow Russians, fellow Patriots. That our courageous soldiers have swept aside the blood thirsty Georgian government that wrongfully breached prior treaties from 2008. And! With wise council from our UN friends we have set up a phased withdrawal and transformation of the area to restore peace and prosperity. Reaffirm establish borders and hopefully move the terrible ethnic conflicts that plague the Caucasus behind.

The President descended the podium and walked to the various journalists and newspapers clamoring for answers. "What of the new ministerial appointees! Rumor is that several cabinet positions have been changed?" asked a blonde female journalist with deep blue eyes reporting for Pravda. "The appointees were in a tough, competitive pool, but I believe they will fulfill themselves quite suitably."

"And what of rumors that several positions will be under a new plenipotentiary position overseeing the Russian economy?"

"Oversight of the entire Russian economy is disingenuous. Talks with the State Duma stemming back to 2016 in regards to government reform have yielded the creation of a temporary oversight position to oversee the transformation and progress of several important economic and civil sectors of administration. Aleksandr Vladimirovitch, as you no doubt know, I was proud to appoint. Hero of the Federation for actions in Syria, and graduate from the Leningrad State University, I expect him to serve his country yet again with due diligence."

Another journalist reporting for the New York Times approached, "Mr. President. What is Russia's stance on Latvia and their abandonment of the Euro?!" Putin paused for a moment to listen to the question and chose his words carefully, "I was personally surprised but I've always been skeptical of the EU. I personally support Latvia's decision but one must be circumspect about these things. Russia does a lot of trade with the EU and has ties to various countries. My personal skepticism aside Russia looks forward to continuing to trade and work with the Union well into the future."

"What of Kazakhstan? What of the massacres by Tek Qazaqstan?" said another journalist. All microphones were thrust in Putins face to hear his reply. The President of Russia once more chose his words carefully. "I have sent a dispatch to the Kazakhstani government in an attempt to settle this tragedy without bloodshed between our two nations. I earnestly await their reply."

The Q&A's continued for another hour as Putin shook hands. Talked with sub-national leaders. Answered journalist questions and listened to individual citizens concerns as they approached.

While Vladimir Putin sent an ultimatum to the Kazakhstani government in regards to the massacre of ethnic Russians carried out by Tek Qazaqstan. The Russian military had not been idle and had been taking stock of the situation. Doing its own share of extensive reconnaissance via satellite, UAV, and manned flights. It took us two days to get in position to move on Taranovskoe alone. So while the diplomats postured and sought a peaceful resolution to the larger conflict. The sewage tunnel was damp and smelled as the black clad special forces team infiltrated the city from a small, ill kept, only partially functioning pipe that used to funnel sewage into a nearby brook and away from the city. The boots of the four man team moved silently along the wet concrete. Moving further into the city and utilizing blueprints uploaded to their GLONASS wrist mounted equipment. The Russian military had spared nothing in the locating of Temir al-Nurzan. Recent intelligence pointed to him being in a squat soviet style bloc apartment in the outskirts of Taranovskoe. Taking a left the Alpha team moved to a service latter. Covered in a centimeter of debris and dust from ill use. No doubt no one had been down here in a decade. The grille to get into the sewage tunnel was not even fully fastened anymore in the first place. Moving up the dirty steps the lead operator slowly lifted the manhole cover and peered through a couple centimeters worth of space. Fitting his NVA goggles that also had a switch for Heat vision he flicked between the two. Doing a quick but precise 360 assessment of the situation. The old sewage line led to a manhole right next to the apartment building. Three stories of brutal concrete facings, symmetrical window placement, and uniform balconies. The building looked dirty and worn. Probably built sometime in the 50's and not seeing much in the terms of renovation. Perfect little hide out for a murderous terrorist. Sliding the manhole cover to the side the Operators one by one hauled themselves out silently. Moving to the wall with the last of their quartet replacing the cover delicately.

Moving to the side of the building the operators all had their NAV goggles activated and moved to a window. Pulling out a gadget from his utility belt the lead operator traced a rectangle out from the window. Drawing an almost imperceptible crackle of glass being finely cut. Gently placing his on the glass he maneuvered the cut piece out and placed it delicately on the ground. Peering through the window first before entering. The kill team moved in one by one. Checking their corners and moving to the door. Voices in the hallway. The sound of a TV set in a nearby room. Their goggles picked up the body heat of several armed guards. Two patrolling the hallway, one sitting in a room cleaning an AK-47 while another three sat and watched television. Looking back at his comrades the lead operator opened the door slowly and moving silently up behind the patrolling guards, combat knife drawn, one of his comrades beside him. The other two moving in to crouch facing the opposite direction. The two Spetsnaz grabbed the guards, gloved hands covering their mouths to muffle yells, and plunged their knives in the sweet spot just below the jugular. Puncturing the aorta. Keeping the blade there to prevent blood spatter the two operators dragged the two guards back into the room and placed them on the couch. A hand signal sent the crouched Spetsnaz operators forward. One turned to the left and with a skilled, precise, knife throw that struck the guard cleaning his AK-47 dead center of the throat. Killing him without a whisper. Moving up swiftly to retrieve the knife while his comrade turned right and with three quick suppressed shots brained the three sitting guards. The squad reformed in the hallway as they moved towards a staircase. There were at least a dozen other individuals in the building. A family in one with a guard at the door. With other guards on the rooftop idly smoking a cigarette, others on the third floor, and one by the stairwell patrolling. The Spetsnaz team moved up the steps quickly. Pulling open the door quickly the Spetsnaz in controlled bursts downed the two guards in the hallway and moved to the door leading to the family.

A nod and the lead operator kicked open the door. The man, the father, sitting at the table stood up abruptly but was gunned down with three rounds to the chest. His wife met a similar fate. An older son ran out of a side room and third Spetsnaz grabbed him by the shoulder, plunging his combat knife into the twenty-something year old's chest. Covering his mouth as the operator watched the life leave his eyes. The fourth moved into the room with sleeping family members just now rousing from the commotion. The sound of three suppressed bursts and the apartment was silent.

Temir Al-Nurzan, his wife, two offspring, and brother were killed. The Spetsnaz kill team from the apartment and hunted the remaining guards. Moving to the rooftop the Spetsnaz team radio'd in mission success. Exfiltrating Taranovskoe via the sewers to an unmarked van just outside the city ten minutes later.
