History

From the beginning of time, many men have dreamed of one day ruling a land so vast and great it would make his own God jealous. The Persians were among the first to enjoy such powers, following in their footsteps was the Macedonians, the Romans, the Carolingians and Many more. The East remained dominated by the Chinese, a land vast in power, resources, wealth, and lords ready to make their mark. The world changed much since those days, the world went from hating the Romans, to loving the Romans, then to being obsessed by them. In the year 800, the Pope placed his anointed crown on the head of Charlemagne, beginning a long line of nations claiming to be the new Rome. In adoration of this great empire, following the failed 4th Crusade, all bent their heads in allegiance to the formal successor to Rome, the Roman Empire... Or rather, the Eastern Roman Empire... Or is it called Byzantium these days? Anyway, the Eastern Roman Empire was able to force back the Muslims. Adoration of the Roman Empire has grown in such a manner, that it's ideas were reborn in the renaissance, and now they are being built upon, in Europe's time of Enlightenment.

Introduction

Hello,
Welcome to the Enlightenment and Reason RP. Following the Fourth Crusade's failings, the Crusaders joined the Byzantine Empire and staged an invasion of the Turks, stopping the spread of Islam in this region.. atleast for a time. From April 13, 1204 onward history is what you make it, craft a nation and history which fit into a logical timeline following this divergence, and then lead it to glory. The current year is 1750, a great year to be alive, with all it's science, gunpowder, and politics. So fillout an app, join in, and have some fun as we delve into a world crafted by us.

Next logical question, how big is Byzantium? Of whom I presume is going to be your GMPC...I doubt that it ever regained the fullness of its territories, but at greatest I can expect it to dominate the Balkans and Anatolia...

I haven't actually decided on a nation yet, I was going to leave it open for now, at this point, everything with in reason, following this divergence, is plausible, as long as it isn't OP or too crazy. I let someone do whatever they want with it really.

Such as, since Orthodoxy isn't as dead as it would be OTL, we might not even see a Reformation...or not one that we're used to depending on the influence on Byzantium and her satellites.
Last I checked, autocephaly (the ability to subvert or appoint your own regional bishops), or Caesaropapism (for those who want to be slightly more Anglican flavored), sans indulgences, clergy being able to be married/keep their marriages, add the liturgy and Bibles being translated into the local languages...

I imagine that a Martin Luther type figure instead of nailing 99 thesis on why the pope sucks, 99 theses on why the pope sucks and why Orthodoxy is literally the superior Christian denomination. I don't think the Ecumenical Patriarch would oppose one-upping the Pope by controlling fake-rome and greek-rome.

The idea is that, while Constantinople doesn’t fall, the spice trade would still largely remain in the hands of the Arabs as they control the important cities of Baghdad and Cairo. So major powers won’t be as inclined to colonize, which would allow for small nations to have colonies of there own. I know a lot of people like to try interesting and new concepts like a Hanseatic Colonial empire and such, so this is a way that allows things like that to happen.

- Three Kingdoms period continues until the 16th century when the collapse of x allows the Zhao to annex them, followed by a war and annexation of y

This is a Sandbox RP, the point being that you’d get to make your own nation and history within Reason to the establish lore so far. If you want to do a normal UK, feel free to, however the territory of Prussia has been reserved by Saxony played by Military Lands of the Scottish People, so unfortunately for the time being you won’t be able to control all of Prussia’s territory.
