Welcome to the new Embassies and Consulates thread for the Kingdom of Akrafjall. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established a new Embassies and Consulates program to expand the diplomatic reach of Akrafjall, and invite other nations to come and
embrace our beautiful country and the culture of its people.

We now invite all cordial nations of the world to open their official diplomatic mission in Akrafjall, we shall welcome you with open arms.

Overview

The Kingdom of Akrafjall is a Scandinavian constitutional monarchy neighboured by Germany and Sweden. Akrafjall is mostly rural, with a population of 8.78 million (as of the 2018 census) mostly residing in the country's towns and few cities. The capital city and the official seat of King Alfred II is Holheimar, with the largest populous centre located in Kilinaa.

While the monarch is the head of state, their role in government is usually reserved for ceremonial duties. The Prime Minister is the head of government, who is elected as the leader of the party with the most seats in parliament after a general election. His Majesty’s Government operates on a US system, with three different branches of government on a unitary parliamentary system. For instance, the Prime Minister and her cabinet are the executive branch of government, the House of Parliament is the “senate” branch and the HM Supreme Court acting as the justice branch of government.

The official language is Akran(aka Danish), with English being widely encouraged and being taught as a second language in schools, along with German and Swedish, which is spoken widely in the border towns. The current currency conversion rate is 2.62 Euro to 1 NSD.

Sometimes other nations wish to appoint someone to represent their nation but do not feel the need to have a physical embassy in Akrafjall. We will host non resident Ambassadors, providing them the same privileges as resident Ambassadors.

Elbe Plaza is home to Holheimar's embassy row. Located on the riverside, prime real estate in Holheimar, Elbe Plaza is the perfect location to hold a representative, the plaza itself is a short walk from Drottninghølm Palace, the royal palace housing parliament and the Prime Minister's Office.

Eftermæle Distrikt

The Eftermæle (Legacy) District has recently been under a revitalisation project, and is now the new heart of Ulhus, a up-and-coming city an hour's drive away from Holheimar. Alongside the revitalisation, Ulhus is a prominent tourist location, offering it's own tourism services and widely available public transport links to Holheimar

Consulates to Akrafjall

Due to limitations, we naturally do not accept consulates at the above locations. However consulates can be hosted in any major city in Akrafjall, these include;

• Nederkilde
• Finnvanger
• Kilinaa
• Salvalus
• Kolvehammer

We would encourage nations to send consulates to Kilinaa, as this is the populous centre of Akrafjall.

All Locations detailed are provided with basic facilities, including;

• Fire alarm and sprinkler systems
• 24/7 security and police services (provided by the National Police Service)
• Wheelchair access
• Air Conditioning
• Allocated Parking for staff and visitors

Pre-Application Information

1. The territory of which the Embassy is located on will be considered as Akrafjall territory, however extraterritoriality will be respected.
2. No mission cannot reconstruct or alter the building without prior consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the chancery can have a helipad for a single unarmed civilian helicopter.
3. Embassies can have a maximum of 10 motor vehicles of which 2 can be light armoured, Consulates may have a maximum of 5 of which 1 can be light armoured. All petrol and diesel vehicles are subject to taxation according to the Protection of the Environment Act of 2005. Cities like Holheimar and Ulhus have local regulations in place additional to the PoE Act.
4. If a official or their family are bringing animals, medications, alcohol or plants, they must declare these in their application. The ministry will attempt to accompany these but certain items may be restricted by law.


As a World Assembly member, Akrafjall is more than obliged to conform to the Diplomat Protection Act, this means that while on mission, embassy and consulate officials are subject to diplomatic immunity, their staff and officers are also subject to a lesser level of protection.

Security staff are permitted to carry firearms and other weapons, however they must conform to the following regulations listed in the the Firearms Control Act of 1999:

• Long-arm firearms are NOT permitted;
• Semi-automatic pistols and revolvers can be carried by security staff whilst they are on duty, these firearms must be stowed in a secure locker once they are off duty.
• Specialist munitions are NOT permitted, this includes incendiary, HP or explosive rounds.
• Electronic tasers are permitted to be carried by security staff, they must be stowed in a secure locker once off duty.
• Batons are permitted to be carried by security staff, they can be stored in an unsecure locker but may not be carried off-duty
• When on mission outside embassy grounds, a limited number of on duty security staff may carry pistols. Only 5 staff of an Embassy and 2 of an Consulate can carry on duty firearms outside of the embassy grounds
• Inactive ceremonial arms are exempt of this rule, but will need to be inspected to verify they are safe.

I am writing on behalf of the Foreign Minister to thank you for your interest in sending a diplomatic mission to Akrafjall. While we are willing to accept your mission, we have concerns of the inventory of your embassy.

The ministry understands the need for security, but as previously detailed we do not accept firearms other than semi-automatic pistols and revolvers, so the shotguns you're wishing to bring would not be permitted, the rest of your weapons inventory is acceptable. Additionally, we would need further insight as to the inventory of drugs you plan on bringing for your infirmary, as certain medications are restricted in Akrafjall.

Until these concerns are addressed we would be unable to accept your request to establish an embassy.
