Computers designed in Conscentia generally use programmable chorded keyboards, which can leave visitors to Conscentia confused when they try and use a computer here and can't figure out how to use the keyboard. Imported machines and keyboards generally come with some form of QWERTY layout, however this is rare as most Conscentians are accustomed to using chorded keyboards.

Alphabetical Latin with accent button. You hold the accent button and type a vowel to put the accent on it (because Italian uses accents). The labels are also all in Italian.

Conventional keyboards have largely been replaced by holographic haptic interfaces and direct neural uplinks these days. For applications where keyboards are necessary, most are still holographic.

Some exceptions are applications where the ruggedness and durability of a physical keyboard are necessary, such as many military apps and heavy-duty industrial devices, where installing a complex and sensitive holographic interface would be impractical.

[quote="Chinese Peoples";p="26444175"]What do your keyboards look like?

They're standard English QWERTY ones.

Simple buttons or touch controls.

No. We prefer to buy new ones, as a typical Petrolheadian uses his or her keyboard heavily.

There are few computers in Shalotte, and little chance of this becoming a growth market any time soon. As such, no company in the world presently produces a keyboard tailored to Hebréden, which is something of a problem given that it has its own 21-character alphabet (similar in form, but not function, to the ancient 'Ogham' alphabet).

Those few Shalottes who use computers are thus forced to use a work-around:

  • Write everything in English. English speakers are not hugely common in Shalotte, but the people using the computers tend to be multi-lingual anyway.
  • Remap the keyboard to assign Hebréden characters to the existing layout via software. Some Shalottes go one step further than this and affix stickers with Hebréden characters to the keys.

What do your keyboards look like?

Standard QWERTY. Some mechanical and specialist keyboards have accents on the far right (like a numpad).

What is the predominant form of keyboard action for stationary keyboards and mobile ones?

Buttons and touch screen.

Is there a niche market for antique keyboards?

The antique keyboard market is actually quite well-established, with high levels of interest across all demographics and age groups.

In Fostoria, keyboards are very similar to the US QWERTY keyboard.

Many keyboards use mechanical switches but cheaper ones use rubber domes.

Yes, there is an interest in older keyboards. Very old ones from the Socialist period are mostly Dvorak layout and are more desirable as collector items.

Slovonian uses a Cyrillic script. Most letters are ordered according to the equivalent Latin letters on a standard QWERTY layout, except Ч (ch), Ш (sh), Ж (zh), and Ъ (accent), which are placed in the spots for Q, W, X, and Y. Also, the Y and Z keys are flipped, because З (z) is used far more frequently than Ъ (accent).

No, although occasionally some people will sell their used keyboards.
