Kangkungland Minister’s Aide Confesses To Gay Sex With Minister

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — An aide to Kangkungland Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Faariz Mohammadi made a shocking confession early this morning, saying he was the individual seen in a viral video clip showing two men performing homosexual acts, one of whom resembles a Kangkungland cabinet minister.

In a half-a-minute video uploaded on Facebook at about 3am today, Mr Shapri Rosario also named the person he was with, a Kangkungland cabinet minister who is also a leader in the ruling Democratic Front (DF).

Mr Shapri said the video, which he claimed was recorded without his permission, was taken on May 11, 2019 at a hotel in Bankol district, about 50km north from here, during a DF political rally there.

Mr Shapri also urged the island nation's Independent Commission to Eradicate Corruption (ICEC) to investigate the minister.

“He is not a qualified to be a leader,” he added.

Shapri’s Facebook page also describes himself as the Democratic Front (DF) Matakulu district branch Youth chief.

The Daily Kangkung has contacted the office of the minister named by Mr Shapri and is awaiting a response.

The video confession is likely to throw the DF government under President Abdul Aziz Latif into turmoil as it prepares for the 2020 Kangkungland General Election scheduled for January.

Yesterday, President Abdul Aziz said he had not seen the clips.

The clips, accompanied by the sound of a foreign news bulletin, have been circulating on WhatsApp since yesterday.

Indonesian police nab six Kangkungites with 37kg of methamphetamine aboard luxury yacht


JAKARTA, Republic of Indonesia — Six Kangkungites have been detained on suspicion of smuggling crystal methamphetamine aboard a luxury yacht.

Indonesian police found 37km of the drug in the yacht, which docked at Batavia Sunda Kelapa Pier, North Jakarta, at 9.30pm on June 4.

According to Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Department director Krisno Siregar, the yacht was believed to have sailed from Johor state in Malaysia to Jakarta on the same day.

The drug is believed to have come from Myanmar.

All the suspects are now in police custody.

Kangkungland Election Watchdog NGO Seeks Funding To Push For Reforms


KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Kangkungland electoral watchdog Clean Election Coalition (CEC) seeks to raise 1.4 million Kangkung Pesos (about US$350,000) to help it push for reforms to ensure clean and fair elections.

The funds will be used for various programmes until the end of next year, as well as for staffing and office operations.

CEC chairman Mr Louis Kiat said today the coalition has outlined six programmes – electoral reform, parliamentary reform, election monitoring and observation, restoration of local government elections, civic education on democracy for university students, and a special project on the forthcoming 2020 Kangkungland general election.

He estimated the cost of these programmes at 640,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$160,000).

He said 154,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$38,500) would be spent on office operations while 605,600 Kangkung Pesos (about US$151,400) would go to staffing.

“Many of the demands of CEC can be found in (the ruling party) Democratic Front’s 2015 election manifesto and CEC continues to hold the government accountable for their manifesto promises.”

A fundraising dinner is planned at the Seaview Hotel here.

Among those invited are members of the Kangkungland Parliament, chief editors of Kangkungite print media and other personalities.

The price of the dinner ticket is 1,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$250) per seat or 10,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$2,500) per table.

Kangkungland Opposition Party Youth Chief Call Sex Clip Implicating Minister Vile, A Grave Sin


United People's Party Youth chief Mr Syaiful Rizan Ahmad condemned those responsible for the clip, calling it 'vile filth'.

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — United People's Party (UPP) Youth chief Mr Syaiful Rizan Ahmad urged the Kangkungland public not to spread or share a homosexual video clip that allegedly features a Kangkungland cabinet minister, saying the act is akin to defamation which is a grave sin in Islam.

He added that the penalty in the afterlife would be heavier if the video clip was made intentionally to defame the purported minister.

“My view is that we should stick to the principles in Islam to prevent ourselves from spreading such videos as to no incur Allah’s wrath, which will see our own shames exposed in this and the next world,” he said in a Facebook post last night.

“What is more worrying is if the video is fake. Surely, it will be a big sin, and a heavier punishment from Allah to befall on us,” he added.

Mr Syaiful condemned those responsible for the clip, calling it “vile filth” and urged the public to “look away”, saying the politics of character assassination should not be given space or attention.

“Seriously, we are already a nation traumatised by slanders of the past. Do we really want to expose another generation to despicable allegations with the sole intent of destroying someone’s character?” Mr Syaiful wrote.

“If you come across sordid news today involving our politics, look away. Vile filth thrives when it’s given attention.”

A series of short videos lasting roughly 1.34-minutes have been making the rounds on social media. The clips show two men, one who resembles a minister in the current administration, in acts of intimacy with one another.

Earlier this morning, a man who called himself Shapri Rosario appeared in another 30-second video confessing to be one of the two people in the sexual clip.

The confessor shares the same name and resembles the senior private secretary to a minister in the current Democratic Front administration.

Across the political divide, a former secretary to Kangkungland Tourism, Culture, Arts, Youth and Sports Minister Ms Jovita Senin criticised the issue as an attempt to invoke hate by conjuring social stigma on homosexuality.

Mr Reggie Koysoon, who was said to have been pressured to resign from his post because he was supportive of LGBTQ+ rights, said the politics surrounding the clip was meant to paint homosexuals in a bad light.

“It is so insulting to see these sex scandals being associated with vague mention of corruption. As if you are a corrupted politician, then you must be ‘sexually deviant’ somehow,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Fact is most of suffering of our people — the workers, women, LGBTQ folk, people with disability — are caused by straight, self-claimed religious men in power and their cronies who decided upon themselves that they could dictate how others live their lives.”

Kangkungland 'Sex Video' Minister Attends Weekly Cabinet Meeting

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — The Kangkungland cabinet minister said to be the individual in the gay sex video attended the weekly Cabinet meeting as usual on Wednesday (June 12).

He was seen at the Kangkungland President's Office at the National Administration Complex, where the Cabinet meeting room is located, at around 8.45am.

It is understood that the minister had an appointment with Kangkungland President Mr Abdul Aziz Latif at 9am, before the Cabinet meeting began.

The topic of the meeting between President Abdul Aziz and the said minister is, however, unknown.

It is learnt that the meeting, which lasted about 20 minutes, had been scheduled last week.

Earlier in the day, news broke that a man had confessed that the sex video was real, and that it recorded him and the minister.

Mr Shapri Rosario, who is the private secretary to Kangkungland Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Faariz Mohammadi, named the minister and said he was not fit to be a leader.

Mr Shapri also called on the island nation's Independent Commission to Eradicate Corruption (ICEC) to investigate the minister for corruption.

Video clip and several lewd photos of two men, including one that resembles a minister, showing them engaging in sexual acts have been spread via WhatsApp.

80 lodge report against gold investment scheme in Kangkungland

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Some 80 victims of a gold investment scheme have lodged a police report at the Kangkungland police headquarters here today, claiming they have not received any returns as promised.

The police reports were filed against the scheme called Golden Crown.

One investor who gave his name as Jermaine Vernon, said he started to invest in the scheme since June 2014.

“I was promised 15% every month on my gold investment including capital. I have since invested over 200,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$50,000),” Mr Jermaine said to the media present.

Mr Jermaine said he had been convinced to place his investment after seeing that the company used a “Malaysian royal emblem” and also showed the photo of a “prominent businessman” and a member of a Malaysian royalty on booklets and leaflets.

“I thought the investment opportunity was genuine and within the law as they had the ‘Malaysian royal emblem’,” he said.

Another man, Willy Cletus, who had invested more than 50,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$12,500) in the scheme, said he too had stopped receiving any returns on his investments made since 2014.

“They offered me a chance in the gold conversion programme, after they had stopped giving us returns, asking me if I wanted to change to other investment programmes under Golden Crown,” he said.

Mr Willy added that he made the police report to warn others not to fall into the same problems with such investment schemes.

Kangkungland Workers' Progressive Party secretary-general and Rolay MP Mr Nathaniel Garimpang, who accompanied the victims of the Golden Crown scheme to the police headquarters, said there were about 1,000 Kangkungite investors who had invested in Golden Crown.

“Over 100 police reports have been made against Golden Crown since 2015, but nothing has been done by the authorities,” Mr Nathaniel said.

“We want this case to be investigated using the Kangkungland Penal Code, the Companies Commission of Kangkungland (SSM) and the Independent Commission to Eradicate Corruption (ICEC),” he said.

Mr Nathaniel claims more than 17 million Kangkung Pesos (about US$4.25 million) has been lost by Kangkungite investors.

Kangkungland Singer Hit With Two Charges Of Illegally Keeping Sun Bear Cub In Condo


Ms Lidiya Valentin was charged in the Magistrates Court with illegally keeping a sun bear cub in her condominium on June 12, 2019.

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Ms Lidiya Valentin today claimed trial to two charges of illegally keeping a sun bear cub, a protected animal under the law, in her condominium unit.

In the first charge, the 27-year-old singer was accused of harbouring a sun bear cub (Helarctos malayanus) without a special permit under Section 69(1) of the Kangkungland Wildlife Conservation Act 2010.

The second charge under Section 86(1)(c) of the same Act was for sheltering the bear cub in an unsuitable and non-conducive environment.

According to the chargesheet, Ms Lidiya committed both offences at her Rynehart condominium unit here around 8pm on June 6.

In Kangkungland, sun bears are listed as endangered and protected under the Kangkungland Wildlife Conservation Act 2010, making it an offence to simply possess any specimen of the species, whether alive or dead.

Those found guilty can be punished under Section 69(1) of the Act with up to 10 years imprisonment or a maximum fine of 200,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$50,000), or both; Section 86(1)(c) of the Act provides for up to one year in jail or a fine between 5,000 and 50,000 Kangkung Pesos (between around US$1,250 to US$12,500) or both.

Deputy public prosecutor Ms Suriati Bangking then requested the court to impose a bail of 30,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$7,500), saying it was a serious offence and to restrict the accused from disturbing other witnesses.

The accused’s lawyer Mr Linus Ripley asked for bail to be reduced.

He told magistrate Mr Aqram Efwat that Ms Lidiya, with a meager monthly salary of 3,500 Kangkung Pesos (about US$875), had to support both her parents who worked as street food vendors.

“Her father has also just undergone surgery to remove a tumour.

“Even the court can impose other conditions but not excessive bail because she is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court,” he argued in mitigation.

The magistrate then set bail at 10,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$2,500) for both charges with one surety.

Mr Aqram also ordered Ms Lidiya to surrender her passport to the court until the end of trial and to report to a police station on the first day of every month.

Earlier this week, pictures and a video capturing the sun bear cub in the condo and its rescue had circulated on social media.

Not Sure If Sex Video Will Be On Agenda Of Kangkungland Ruling Party's Leadership Meeting: Comms Director

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — The Kangkungland Democratic Front (KDF) central leadership will meet and could possibly discuss the gay sex videos that implicate a cabinet minister from the party.

KDF communications director Mr Kee Ng Lin confirmed there would be a bureau political meeting, but he could not say if the matter would be raised.

“Whether we discuss this or not, I can't confirm, but as far as the party leadership is concerned and to my knowledge, we have not received any reports or complaints about this matter that has risen in social media,” he said.

The Palong MP also advised party members to refer to the leadership and not share such unverified information or salacious videos.

“Let's not spread such malicious accusations,” he added.

Mr Kee also said he was certain KDF would cooperate with the authorities if there were any investigations.

Asked if he was aware of Mr Shapri Rosario, the man who confessed to being the person with the minister in the gay sex video, Mr Kee said no.

“I can't verify if he (Mr Shapri Rosario) is an aide with (Kangkungland Trade, Industries, Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister) Mr Faariz Mohammadi.

“I haven't been in contact with him (Mr Faariz),” he added.

Kangkungland Gay Sex Video Scandal: Close Friends Are Shocked, Say Minister's Aide ‘Was Never Gay’

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Close friends of Mr Shapri Rosario, who was a law graduate from Kangkungland National University (KNU), say they never knew he was gay.

Two close friends, who are also family friends of Mr Shapri, 27, said they had known him for more than a decade and as long as they had known him, he was never gay and was in a steady relationship with a woman for years.

“He had a girlfriend last time. They were together for quite a while but I heard they had recently broken up,” said one.

A schoolmate who studied with Mr Shapri at Bairini High School here said he was religious and active in the school's Islamic student body during their time there.

“He was religious during our schooldays and he once ‘outed’ another boy who ‘touched’ the juniors when they were sleeping. He was strict in that.

“I also know he had a long-time girlfriend. He comes from a very kind and respectable family. He is very close to his family.

“I convinced his mother to let him take up law after he graduated from high school. In 2013, we went to Paris, France together for a leadership course.

“We co-founded Kangkungland Students for Justice and ran it for some. Then we went separate ways because I was starting to do more NGO work while he was more inclined to partisan politics,” said one friend.

He was also once very much a supporter of United People's Party (UPP) before supporting Kangkungland Democratic Front (KDF), then switching to the former again.

Friends said that they were mostly surprised when he was appointed the private secretary to Kangkungland Trade, Industries, Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Faariz Mohammadi, as they did not know that he was supporting the KDF.

“Throughout many years knowing Shapri, he's very easily influenced. He does have ambition, and would do anything to achieve it.

“When I first met him, he was a strong supporter of UPP and all we did was talk politics. Then, he became a KDF supporter. A few years later, he was following a UPP politician here and there, and I assumed he was for UPP again.

“Then, suddenly I was shocked when he was appointed the private secretary to Mr Faariz,” said one friend who asked to remain anonymous.

Another friend, who knew him well during his KNU days and was in the same batch, said that Mr Shapri was very much into activism on campus.

“He was once suspended in 2012 for having taken part in an anti-government demonstration in the capital and vandalising photographs of national leaders.

“He graduated and practised law for a short while. In fact, he was practising two months before he joined the minister's team as an aide,” said the college mate.

It was reported that Mr Shapri and two other students were fined and suspended after they were found guilty of having hung funeral garlands on national leaders' photographs.

Another close friend who always followed Mr Shapri said that he was surprised to see the photograph of him with Kangkungland Deputy President Mr Omar Izzadeen Yousuf, who is also KDF deputy president, in a movie outing recently.

“I did not know he had such high connections, what more going to the cinema with a high ranking politician,” said the friend.

On May 4, Mr Shapri had posted a photograph of himself with Mr Omar and the Deputy President's family after watching the movie The Avengers: End Game.

“Second time watching the movie. This time with the Deputy President of Kangkungland. Avengers, assemble!” Mr Shapri posted.

Shapri’s Facebook page also describes him as the Democratic Front (DF) Matakulu district branch Youth chief.

For the past two days, a video of two men engaging in sexual acts, with one resembling a minister, has been making its rounds on social media and via WhatsApp.

Earlier Wednesday (June 12), Mr Shapri confessed on Facebook that he was the man in the sex video. He named the minister allegedly in the video and said the latter was not fit to be a leader.

Mr Shapri also called on the island nation's Independent Commission to Eradicate Corruption (ICEC) to investigate the minister for corruption.

Kangkungland Clerk Charged With Embezzling 1.6 million Kangkung Pesos

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — A 31-year-old former administrative clerk was charged with committing Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT) involving a sum of 1,669,299.83 Kangkung Pesos (about US$417,325).

Ms Laila Chinn pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Ms Jen Chong Chien to the charge against her on Tuesday.

Ms Laila is accused of breaching the trust given to her by Sunny Day Sales & Marketing Pte Ltd which entrusted her with the sales of cigarettes, but had used it for herself.

The offence allegedly took place at the company premises here between 2017 and January this year.

The offence, under Section 408 of the Kangkungland Penal Code, provides for a jail term of between a year and 14 years, and liable to fine, on conviction.

The court set Sept 23-25, 2019 to hear the case and released Ms Laila on a bail of 10,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$2,500) with two local sureties.

She was also ordered to report to the police headquarters here once a month until the disposal of her case as well as not to tamper with the prosecution witnesses.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mr Tuan Lai Goh offered 100,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$25,000) bail on the grounds that the case involved a huge amount.

Ms Laila, unrepresented, said she is currently not working and needs to breastfeed her four-month-old infant.

She added that her husband is the sole breadwinner of the family.

In another case, a 35-year-old man claimed trial to causing hurt on his girlfriend while robbing her.

Salam bin Mohd. Shafie allegedly assaulted the 40-year-old woman while robbing her of her tablet at 1pm on Oct 16, 2017 at a factory here.

His trial date was fixed for Sept 26-27 this year and no bail was offered to him as he is currently serving eight months’ jail sentence for taking drugs.

Kangkungland Multimedia Commission Blocks Website That Posted Sex Video 'Starring' Minister, Will Reinstate Once Video Is Removed

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — A portal which posted the viral sex video allegedly involving a man resembling a minister has been blocked by the Kangkungland Multimedia Commission (KMC).

As of late Tuesday (June 11) evening, voiceoffreekangkungland.com was the only portal that had posted the video of two men engaging in sexual activities.

The portal will be reinstated after it takes down the offending content, says KMC chairwoman, Mrs Mazuin Binidi.

Mrs Mazuin said the status quo of voiceoffreekangkungland.com would be reinstated once the offending content was removed.

"We are a cultured and civilised society, where obscenity is both illegal and uncivilised.

"ISPs will take some hours to reinstate. Society is very sensitive now, and we do not want to add fuel to fire," said Mrs Mazuin in a WhatsApp statement to Kangkungland Bulletin.

She was asked about the move to bar voiceoffreekangkungland.com from the evening of June 11.

The portal was the only one that put up the viral sex video featuring a man resembling a Kangkungland cabinet minister engaging in sexual activities with another man.

The real Shapri not as built, Kangkungland Democratic Front branch leader says of man in gay sex clip

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — The man named Shapri Rosario who claimed to have been in bed with a Kangkungland cabinet minister is likely an imposter, Democratic Front (DF) Matakulu district branch secretary Mr Vencent Lojikip said amid widespread speculation over the identities of two people in a viral homosexual video.

Shapri’s Facebook page also describes him as the Democratic Front (DF) Matakulu district branch Youth chief.

Mr Vencent said the real Shapri does not have such a well-built body and had thicker hair.

“Shapri does not look like this. His hair is higher on the left and right when I last saw him four days ago.

“He has not been working out at the gym in a while, and his body isn’t as built as in the video,” he said saying of his fellow Matakulu district branch DF member Shapri.

Mr Vencent suspects that Shapri’s Facebook account was hacked, enabling a person who resembled him to post a “confession” of the alleged homosexual video with the purported minister.

He was referring to a 34-second video uploaded onto Shapri’s Facebook page at about 2am today. In that video, the man who gave his name as “Shapri Rosario” said he was one of the two men getting intimate in a series of video clips that started circulating on the internet yesterday.

He named his partner as a Kangkungland cabinet minister and claimed the videos of them in bed together was taken without his knowledge or permission on May 11 during a DF political rally in Bankol district.

Mr Shapri also urged the island nation's Independent Commission to Eradicate Corruption (ICEC) to probe the alleged minister whom he claimed “is not an individual qualified to be a leader”.

The real Shapri is also the private secretary to Kangkungland Trade, Industries, Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Faariz Mohammadi.

The Kangkungland Post is still trying to reach the real Shapri and the ministers mentioned for comment.

No Silence Please, Kangkungland Cabinet Minister Should Come Out With Strong Rebuttal, Says Ruling Party MP

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — The Kangkungland Cabinet minister accused of being in a sex video that has gone viral should come out with a strong rebuttal and not keep quiet, especially in the wake of a confession by his purported partner.

Godang MP Mr Richard Linsua of the ruling Democratic Front (DF), said “my advice is for the minister to come out to clear his name as this is a serious matter”.

“I personally do not believe this story, as to me this is serious character assassination against a top DF leader.

“However, we cannot treat this as a simple matter and continue to keep quiet and think that it is going to go away,” he said.

Mr Richard added that he has known the minister for more than 20 years and thought of him as a person with good moral values.

“This whole episode has been shocking. More so when the 'partner' comes out to make a sworn declaration,” he said, adding that keeping quiet was no longer an option.

He added that it was important for the leadership to act swiftly as the video clips had already gone viral online.

“If nothing is done to contain or explain this, it will hurt the DF party and government,” he warned.

Mr Richard added that the minister should lodge a police report and even take legal action against those involved in trying to bring him down.

Asked whether this could be the work of those within the party to bring down a rising star, he said he did not believe those in the party would stoop so low.

“We can have differences of opinions but not doing such a thing. I believe all this is done by those outside the party,” he said.

Asked for his reaction if the allegations turned out to be true, he said it would be a sad thing and that it would warrant disciplinary action.

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Mr Taufik Azzam has broken his silence and condemned allegations that he is the individual pictured in a now-viral sex video.

"I categorically deny this vicious libel upon me.

"This is nothing but a nefarious plot to assassinate my reputation and character in an attempt to destroy my political career," he said in a press release on Wednesday (June 12).

I refer to the various media reports today publishing the allegations of an individual regarding a sex video purporting to implicate me.

I categorically deny this vicious libel upon me.

This is nothing but a nefarious plot to assassinate my reputation and character in an attempt to destroy my political career.

Judging from recent political developments, this is clearly the latest in a series of concerted attempts over the past few months to vilify me, which includes intimidation against the safety of my family and I in the final week of Ramadhan, and vile and baseless accusations of corruption.

I utterly condemn this brand of gutter politics. It has no place in this era of New Kangkungland, where we are working to rebuild the nation through institutional reforms.

I have instructed my lawyers to take the appropriate legal action against the individual who made these abominable allegations as well as against other perpetrators.

I will avail myself of all legal means at my disposal to expose these culprits.

I will not submit to these cowardly acts and heinous attempts to distract the public from the pressing concerns of the nation and the successes of the Kangkungland Ministry of Defence in the planning and implementation of national development policies that are sustainable and inclusive.

I trust the Kangkungland Police and the Independent Commission to Eradicate Corruption Commission (ICEC) will take all necessary action with regards to this matter.

Kangkungland Cops Will Probe Viral Sex Video, Says Police Chief

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Kangkungland Police will be conducting investigations into the viral sex video clip that is allegedly linked to a minister, says Inspector-General of Police Mr Abdullah Quddos Bashyir.

Declining to reveal further details, Mr Abdullah said a police report was lodged on the matter Tuesday (June 11).

"We are investigating the authenticity of the video clip,” he told KNNA.

Media reports Wednesday (June 12) published allegations by an individual regarding a sex video purporting to implicate Kangkungland Defence Minister Mr Taufik Azzam.

In a statement Wednesday, Mr Taufik also categorically denied the accusation, calling it a vicious libel on him.

He said he had instructed his lawyers to take appropriate legal action against the individual who made these abominable allegations as well as against the other perpetrators.

Second Wave Of Sex Video, Images Out, Less Than Two Hours After Kangkungland Minister’s Denial

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — A new gay sex video and images targeting Kangkungland Defence Minister Mr Taufik Azzam were released to the media and ruling Democratic Front (DF) leaders this evening, barely two hours after the minister decried the personal attack against him.

Several media personnel, including a reporter from The Kangkungland Post, and the politicians were added at around 7pm to a new WhatsApp group which subsequently forwarded one video and two images of homosexual sex.

The group was named “Taufik azzam part 2/4”, implying that there could be two more releases in the future.

Yesterday, several videos of roughly 90 seconds each began circulating on social media which depicted a man performing sexual acts on another man who allegedly resembles the minister.

The videos were first spread to journalists on a WhatsApp group purposely created for it, where several screenshots of bank transactions believed to be doctored with Mr Taufik’s name were also attached.

In response, Mr Taufik has categorically denied he was purportedly the man in a gay sex video widely shared across social media networks this week, claiming it was a “vicious libel” against him.

He said he has also told his lawyers to take appropriate legal action against those who made the allegations and other perpetrators, and he will use all legal means available to expose the culprits behind the alleged plot.

Videos Are All 'Cooked Up', Says Kangkungland President

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Kangkungland President Mr Abdul Aziz Latif has dismissed the lewd videos implicating Defence Minister Mr Taufik Azzam, saying that these have been "cooked up".

"This is done by people who have political agendas," said Mr Abdul Aziz.

He added people were able to produce any kind of pictures they wanted to if they were clever enough to do it.

"One day you may see my picture also like that," Mr Abdul Aziz told reporters after attending a Democratic Front fund raising event here late Wednesday (June 12).

The event was also held in appreciation of his contributions to the party and nation.

Mr Abdul Aziz said the videos were 'cooked-up' by someone with a political agenda.

"Things like these are dirty. If you cannot compete with someone don't do something like this," said Mr Abdul Aziz.

To a question if Mr Taufik had met him over the matter, Mr Abdul Aziz said he (Mr Taufik) had attended the weekly Cabinet meeting as usual on Tuesday.

New Kangkungland Anti-Corruption Chief To Sit Out Graft Probe On Minister

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Allegations of corruption involving a Kangkungland Cabinet minister will be investigated by the Independent Commission to Eradicate Corruption (ICEC), but its chief commissioner Ms Eleanor Cecille Lumatin will sit it out.

Instead, she said her deputy would head the probe.

“I will not be involved in any way, be it in the investigation or decision-making,” she said in a statement yesterday.

Ms Eleanor was responding to queries on a report lodged by the opposition United People's Party (UPP) Working Committee member Mr Joanis Alban against the said minister.

She did not give any reason for the decision to exclude herself from this investigation.

Ms Eleanor tendered her resignation from the ruling Democratic Front (DF) following her appointment to the ICEC on June 1. The Cabinet minister is also from DF.

Mr Joanis claimed that he was in possession of bank documents which showed the minister had received 3 million Kangkung Pesos (about US$750,000) in an overseas bank account in 2017.

Curb Crime Involving Foreigners Before Situation Explodes, Warns Kangkungland Opposition MP


Rolay MP Mr Nathaniel Garimpang warns that anger is escalating to a level where youths are willing to bring weapons to town to beat up immigrants.

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Kangkungland opposition MP Mr Nathaniel Garimpang is worried over the recent spate of crimes involving foreigners, in particular illegal immigrants.

The Rolay MP said the authorities must act fast in countering the spike in crime.

Mr Nathaniel said Kangkungland police and the Immigration Department must flush out illegal immigrants from Kangkungland with “crisis-level” seriousness.

“The recent spate of crimes involving illegals here has caused considerable concern among locals, especially the younger generation.

“So much so that there have been rumours of groups wanting to retaliate by attacking immigrants in Sipinah (a district about 35km north from here),” he said in a statement today.

This, he said, was due to “highly provocative crimes” such as snatch thefts, robberies, car thefts, house break-ins and violent gang fights.

“For the first time, we have emotions and anger escalating to a level where youths are willing to bring weapons to town to beat up immigrants.

“The President, being the chairman of the national security working committee, should raise the alarm among the state enforcement authorities,” he said.

Mr Nathaniel, who is Workers' Progressive Party secretary-general said things might spiral out of control if the authorities “do not pull up their socks and act with uncompromising decisiveness”.

He said there were many illegal immigrants in the island nation due either to the authorities intentionally neglecting the influx into the island since the 1970s or being “complicit in the whole scheme.

He claimed Kangkungites harboured feelings of resentment due to the systematic issuance of Kangkungland identity cards to illegal immigrants, regarded by locals as an approach “to drastically get the indigenous people outnumbered”.

He said this suspected underhand agenda had for many decades been stoking the anger of locals.

“And the recent escalation of violent criminal incidents has pushed the emotions of law-abiding locals.

“Whatever it is, Kangkungites no longer feel safe. And we all know our situation has reached the danger point. The relevant authorities must act before the locals feel cornered,” he said.

Mr Nathaniel also urged the government and local authorities to activate the district and village security communities to monitor the presence and activities of illegal immigrants to protect local citizens.

“Illegal immigrants are known to congregate in certain areas and settlements, so the relevant authorities know where they are,” he said.

Recently, in Sipinah district, a local was hurt after being caught in a brawl between a group of locals and foreigners. This threatened to boil over, but the situation has since cooled down.

Kangkungland Police Head To Indonesia After Six Kangkungites Nabbed With 37kg Of Meth

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Kangkungland Police are making arrangement to send a team of officers to Indonesia to record statements and conduct further probe into the arrest of six Kangkungites for suspected drug trafficking on June 4.

Kangkungland Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Commissioner Suan Ebin said the team has been tasked to gather more information on the case.

"We have checked their background and based on information from our Indonesian counterpart, the six are Kangkungland citizens.

"Our team will be there and we will interview them," he told reporters at the Kangkungland police headquarters here today.

It had been earlier reported that Indonesian police have arrested six Kangkungites in connection with the discovery of 37 kg of methamphetamine on a yacht in Jakarta on Tuesday night (June 4).

According to the Indonesian Criminal Investigations Department director Krisno Siregar, the vessel was believed to have sailed from Johor state in Malaysia to Jakarta on the same day.

The drugs are believed to have originated from Myanmar.

The case is being investigated by the Indonesian police under Article 114 of Law Number 35/2009 on narcotics, and if convicted, they could be punished by death.

KNNA EXCLUSIVE: One-on-One With Kangkungland's Inspector-General of Police

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Mr Abdullah Quddos Bashyir has a mission and vision to rebuild the Kangkungland police force and regain the public's trust in the men and women in blue – all 6,750 of them.

And part of that effort means taking the proposed Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) seriously.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) spoke to KNNA about the importance of the IPCMC, and other issues facing the Kangkungland National Police Agency (Kanapola).

Q: Since your appointment as the IGP, you have prioritised the aspect of integrity among your personnel. Your predecessors have uttered such a mantra before; so what is different with yours?
A: Each and every one of them (my predecessors), I believe, had their own plans but along the way, this got watered down due to the urgency of certain events. Perhaps combating crime became a priority.
But my approach from the very beginning is that in policing, the most basic necessity is the question of integrity. This must come first. I will instil the feeling of guilt among my men if they take bribes and to educate and empower them with the help of the government, such as getting better salaries.
However, without the guidance or prodding from the (police) leadership, they could still be at risk of deviating from the right path.
That is why when I said I will focus on improving on integrity, I will try to walk the talk. I’ll do just that ... that is very important, for without that, whatever mission or vision will surely falter. Integrity must come first.
Q: You have warned your men to sever their ties with the underworld. In your assessment, is such involvement prevalent?
A: There was a lot of talk about this. In my three years of absence from the force, I was able to mix with the public and it is common to see them fearing the police. But it is wrong for them to fear the police as though we are the “Gestapo”. There were a lot of accusations against the police for misuse of power.
These are facts I gathered from the public, and whether it was just perception or otherwise, I take it at face value that it is true, without any malice against my predecessors, I intend to improve (the force) and focus all my energy on that goal. I’ll do just that.
Q: You have made impromptu visits to various police stations to meet your men. Is this part of the effort to improve integrity among them?
A: That is right. I don’t want an artificial type of reception to receive me. I just want to walk in and see for myself their true state ... not a “decorated” one. I will engage in small talk with them to gauge their true feelings, without the fear of annoying their superiors.
That is how I get to the bottom of things. In other words, I’m cutting the bureaucratic tape by going straight to the men on the ground.
Q: How vital is the IPCMC to your mission?
A: It is vital. From day one, when it was first mooted in 2004 or 2005, I told myself this is the one thing we needed to check ourselves. It is an authority to check upon us. We don’t want to be “free to do anything” ... that is bad for the country.
I’m not insinuating that things were bad but it is an opportunity for us to redeem ourselves with the help of the government. It will be a win-win situation where the people will get what they deserve from the police and the police will feel they are well taken care of by the government.
This will surely benefit the country. It is an opportunity for us to present our case to the government and the government will present its case to us, where they will may demand that the police will be like this or that, stop this or that, or make improvements.
At the same time, we can tell the government: you want us to do this, please provide us with all this. We can’t do things without being properly equipped, for instance.
We can look at it as a win-win situation, so we don’t want the police to be the “master” of this country. People have been quietly talking about the police being so powerful that they can do wonders, such as pinning nasty things on someone without any check and balance.
I don’t want that kind of atmosphere to prevail during my tenure. I will serve the people. The government will take care of us and at the same time, I want my men to deliver and the public to respect the police instead of fearing us.
Q: Since it was first mooted, the IPCMC has met with opposition from many quarters, including police associations and former officers. They fear the commission will diminish the authority of the police. What are your thoughts on this?
A: (Their fears are) unfounded. It is based on disinformation created by those with vested interests. These same people think that the police are untouchable.
This is wrong. To me, we are like any other (enforcement agency). The only special thing about us is that we have been vested with a lot of power. There is a risk and danger when being given such immense power. There is a likelihood that it will be misused. If this goes unchecked, we will then have a police state.
We don’t want that kind of atmosphere where the people fear the police. This will tarnish our image. We are supposed to become a developed country. We are a country that clicks, everything moves merrily and harmoniously. A plural society that clicks well. Kangkungland is a very good example for others to emulate and follow.
Q: When do you expect the IPCMC to be formed?
A: I think the Kangkungland Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Centre (KGIACC) is working on it. I don't have a timeframe for this. To me, the sooner the better.
I will inform my men about the benefits of IPCMC. I will put a stop to the misconception created by certain quarters.
What I'm doing now is to get first-hand information on the state of welfare of police personnel on the ground through my impromptu visits. I plan to meet all the respective departments at the senior level during the Syawal month (after Eid Fitri).
After that, I will go to the ground. Meanwhile, I will issue a directive from time to time, informing and educating my men on the IPCMC.
To me, misinformation is very irresponsible. I think the one-liner from Kangkungland President Mr Abdul Aziz Latif is enough to sum up the whole thing: if you don’t commit any offence, why fear the IPCMC.
As I said, there is a certain selfish feeling among certain former officers that we must safeguard the name and image of the police according to their mould, which is outdated to me.
Those days we used typewriters, now we just click with a finger and news will travel very fast. Public opinion can be formed within minutes or hours, unlike those days when you got to hold rallies.
I sincerely believe the IPCMC is good, and an opportunity to get what the force deserves.
To the ones spreading misinformation, just stop it. Don’t be selfish. You had your time, and just ask yourselves: what did you do to improve the police image at that time? Were you part of the corrupt system?
So, just take a few seconds and ask God, “Have I done my part, why am I so selfish that my views are the truthful and holiest one?”
The government does not mean any harm in forming IPCMC. It is not political, it is what is required of us.
Q: Recently, President Abdul Aziz Latif said the government will consider your request to increase the salary of lower rank personnel. It seems the government is listening and attuned to the welfare of the force.
A: Alhamdulillah, I whispered to President Abdul Aziz when I told him the plight of my men.
I said, “Sir, I interviewed one of my men who lived outside the station. He has to rent a house, fork out of his own pocket money for his monthly rental, but he has three kids and his spouse is a housewife. There is only 1,400 Kangkung Pesos (about US$350) left in his pocket for the whole month. Please, these are facts, these are not tales created by me”.
President Abdul Aziz nodded. When he did that, I knew good things would come.
Q: On efforts to clean up the force, what are the actions that will be taken against the bad apples?
A: I regard everyone as white cloth. I don’t like looking back on what happened previously. What I want them to do before it’s too late is sever their ties with the underworld, such as vice syndicates.
We don’t have to stoop so low to get intelligence. We have other means to gather details using technology. They don’t have to mix and get entangled with the dirty culture. Stop it and you are my men. No such thing as one foot on this side and another on the other side.
We have to make it very clear that it is wrong to have such ties.
I’m giving them a fair chance, I’m not here to be vindictive to settle old scores. I’ll see and give them three months is enough. I will be very happy if this comes true. The government and country will gain from a clean police force.
Q: What are your thoughts on the threat of the Islamic State?
A: At the moment, we are still considered at par with them. We cannot afford any lapses in our actions in monitoring them.
However, you can talk about 1,000 major successes, but if you fail once, then that is it.
I think the Kanapola Counter Terrorism Division has excellent commanders and experienced men and women to handle this. I am satisfied with them. I only need them to keep up their vigilance.
They are actually ready for battle in terms of equipment and other means. I encouraged them to move freely without any red tape. I want them to have high mobility and to act fast, almost complete freedom – but they do report to me daily or weekly. They talk to me almost every day.
If there are bad apples among them, I don't feel sorry for them – if they commit a crime, they will be subjected to stern action.
In fact, I feel there should be harsher punishments for them as they are the men in blue.
Q. How about the fears of bringing back the militants and their family back from Syria?
A: We have met with the Kangkungland Foreign Affairs Ministry and our foreign intelligence partners from that region. We are getting advice from various partners such as the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. We learn the experiences of other countries in dealing with such an issue.
With this knowledge, we are charting our actions. Sure, we have to bring them back, but they have to face the law. We have intelligence on their conduct over there, so they have to be dealt with within Kangkungland laws. They would be screened thoroughly.
There are also women and children and as such, they will be treated on a case by case basis.
Instead of them returning through illegal ways, why don't we facilitate their return to enable us to rehabilitate and win their hearts back?
Rehab is costly, time-consuming and energy-sapping, but it has to be done. I will continue to empower Kanapola Counter Terrorism Division officers for this job.
Q: What is your message to the people on the police force under your watch?
A: I will waste no time and energy. I have 600-plus days left to achieve this, to fulfil government directives and put the police force back in a deserving position.
I want all my men to toe the line to bring dignity and integrity back to the force.
I will not waste any time in putting the police back on the right track, minimising any wrongdoings committed by policemen, and tightening discipline to allow them to serve and protect the people.

China Minister In Kangkungland To Promote Industrial Exchange

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Mr Miao Wei, arrived in the capital to promote industrial exchange and encourage more Chinese investors to Kangkungland.

He was warmly received by Kangkungland Deputy President cum Minister of Home Affairs, Mr Omar Izzadeen Yousuf at the Tagaloilo International Airport (TIA) yesterday.

Miao, who admitted that it was his first time here, said that Kangkungland was a popular destination for Chinese tourists, but his mission for this visit was to promote industrial exchange and to encourage more Chinese investors to contribute towards the development of the island nation.

He said Kangkungland was not only blessed with scenic views, but also rich natural resources which were vital for development.

“The friendship ties between China and Kangkungland is further strengthened with the Kangkungland government led by Mr Abdul Aziz Latif.

“We must implement the consensus achieved by the leaders of both countries, in terms of facilitating more economic and industrial cooperation between China and Kangkungland,” he said at a press conference at the airport.

Miao went on to say that President Abdul Aziz had welcomed China firms to Kangkungland in effort to accelerate the development of 5G technology during the latter’s visit to China last month.

“We are confident that we could encourage Chinese companies to work with the Kangkungland government in developing 5G infrastructure in this country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy President Omar said Miao’s visit gave the Kangkungland Government an opportunity to show potential investment destinations in Kangkungland.

He said Miao would tour the Kebunan Industrial Park (KIP), followed by a meeting with President Abdul Aziz Latif today.

“We hope the minister could assist us in facilitating more investors from China to Kangkungland, particularly in the manufacturing sector,” Mr Omar said.

He said Miao’s visit was also timely, given that President Abdul Aziz Latif had recently led a trade mission to China which saw 20 billion Kangkung Pesos (about US$5 billion) worth of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) in investments signed.

“We are in the progress of following through some of the investments and hopefully they will be implemented,” he said.

Mr Omar added that a China-based commodities exchange company operating in Singapore had recently started its operations at Kangkungland Oil Industrial Cluster (KOIC).

“This is a game changer for Chinese investment in Kangkungland. With KOIC as the tender port for palm oil, it will be nearer to China for export,” he said.

He hoped that more oil would be exported to other countries, especially China.

“We hope the visit of the minister (Miao) will boost confidence of other players, particularly on the trading platform,” Mr Omar said.

Also present was the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kangkungland, Mrs Cheng Zhi.

Kangkungland President Abdul Aziz Latif Promises Paternity Leave, Higher Minimum Wages


Kangkungland President Mr Abdul Aziz Latif says law will amended to make private sector employers allow husbands 3 days paternity leave.

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — Kangkungland President Abdul Aziz Latif today delivered good news to Kangkungland workers by announcing five “gifts”.

Addressing the 2019 Kangkungland Workers’ Rally here, Mr Abdul Aziz said the government would provide a 3 million Kangkung Peso (about US$750,000) special grant to the Kangkungland Labor Association (KLA) in appreciation of the workers’ loyalty to the government and country all along.

“This special grant will be given this year. It will be left to KLA to distribute the contribution to the other trade unions,” he said to thousands of workers in the audience.

Mr Abdul Aziz said if the civil servants had been deemed loyal supporters of the government, the whole Kangkungland workforce of public and private sector employees, as well as the employers and trade unions, were the “flesh and blood” of the island nation.

He said if the Democratic Front (DF) was returned to power in the 2020 general election (GE2020) on January, the government’s second gift would be to raise the minimum wage from 1,200 Kangkung Pesos (about US$300) to a new level that would be announced next year.

Mr Abdul Aziz said he had been informed that since 1998, the KLA’s call for a minimum wage policy was ignored by the then top leader of the government. This left the workers having to struggle with monthly wages as low as 400 Kangkung Pesos (about US$100).

However, within a year of taking office as the prime minister, Mr Abdul Aziz had announced the implementation of a Kangkungland National Minimum Wage Policy and subsequently the Kangkungland Wages Consultative Council Act 2011.

This saw the minimum wage set at 900 Kangkung Pesos (US$225) in 2012.

“Last year, the minimum wage was raised by 11% and 15% respectively to 1,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$250),” he said.

Mr Abdul Aziz said in an effort to nurture wholesome families among employees, the DF government proposed a special initiative of mandatory paternity leave of at least three days for husbands of private sector employees.

He said the amendments to the law to provide for this initiative were expected to be tabled in the Kangkungland Parliament early next year at the latest.

The president also said the government had agreed to introduce the Kangkungland Employment Insurance System (KEIS) in January. This was to assist workers retrenched as a result of downsizing of companies and other reasons.

Although the full KEIS payment could only be paid out from January next year, he said the fate of workers who lost their livelihood was not forgotten as the government had allocated 6.1 million Kangkung Pesos (about US$1.525 million) to the Kangkungland Social Security Organisation (Ksocso) to make KEIS payments to the affected employees.

He said, if DF is returned to power in the GE2020, the government would provide another 3 million Kangkung Pesos (about US$750,000) to Ksocso, making it a total allocation of 9.1 million Kangkung Pesos (about US$2.275 million) for that purpose.

“With this additional 3 million Kangkung Pesos, the interim aid rate to affected workers will be increased from 600 Kangkung Pesos (about US$150) for a period of one to three months to 1,000 Kangkung Pesos (about US$250) for the first month, 800 Kangkung Pesos (about US$200) for the second month and 600 Kangkung Pesos (about US$150) for the third month,” he said.

Meanwhile, to produce skilled manpower in facing the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the president announced an allocation of 10 million Kangkung Pesos (about US$2.5 million), through the Human Resources Development Ltd., to undertake human capital strategic initiatives.

Themed “Skilled Workers: Drivers of the Nation’s Excellence”, today’s celebration also saw several workers’ leaders and employers being recognised for their past services.

Shapri Claims He Was Forced To Deny It Was Kangkungland Cabinet Minister In Sex Video

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — The man who confessed to being in the viral sex video has claimed he was forced to deny that it was Kangkungland Defence Minister Mr Taufik Azzam in the video.

Mr Shapri Rosario lamented at how his sworn testimony has made him question the sincerity of the "Democratic Front government in pursuing reforms", adding that he was accused by Kangkungland President Abdul Aziz Latif of having a political agenda after making the confession.

Mr Shapri claimed that after waiting for an hour, a man named Lawrence met him at a restaurant in a hotel here.

"He forced me to deny that it was you in the viral video and asked me to lie for you. I asked for more time to consult my parents and this angered him. After I refused, he made threats and said 'This will be shut down within 48 hours with or without my help to lie.

"It broke me that Mr Taufik Azzam, the man I looked up to, chose to tie his loose ends rather than owning up to his mistakes," he said on his Facebook page on Thursday (June 13).

Mr Shapri also accused Mr Taufik of being the one who had recorded those videos for his own personal collection during the times they were together on numerous occasions.

He added that they were both together at the Hotel Continental here three years ago, and then at Pushmann Hotel during the Democratic Front AGM in October last year.

"We did it again in Oporto Hotel during the Royalty of Brunei's visit to Kangkungland in March this year and our recent encounter at Teluk View Hotel last May," he said.

Mr Shapri also said he was worried that more videos would be leaked, adding that Mr Taufik had the luxury to deny that it was him whereas his future was "over".

"You even have the Kangkungland President pledging his full support before any formal investigation had been done. Only the truth can set me free as I am concerned for the safety of my family and mine.

"I hope the public will see you as who you truly are – manipulative and have immense influence all together with your henchmen and the rest of your inner circle that are motivated by greed and power," he said.

Kangkungland Defence Minister's Aide Lodges Report, Says He Met Accuser Over Sex Video

KEBUNAN, Republic of Kangkungland — The political secretary to the Kangkungland Defence Minister Mr Lawrence Wahab admits that a meeting took place between him and Mr Shapri Rosario, but declines to reveal what it was about.

"Yes it's true (that the meeting occured)," said the aide to Mr Taufik Azzam.

"I have submitted information on that to the authorities," said Mr Lawrence, who is also Rasuri MP, to reporters after lodging a qazaf (false accusation of illicit sex) report against Mr Shapri here.

The report, lodged at the Kangkungland Islamic Affairs Department head office here, was on Mr Shapri's claim that he and Defence Minister Mr Taufik Azzam were the two men in a gay sex video which went viral recently.

Mr Lawrence was asked to comment on a recent Facebook post by Mr Shapri.

Mr Shapri claimed Mr Lawrence met him at a restaurant in a hotel here and forced him to deny that Mr Taufik was the man in the video.
