[NSP] Christian People's Congress

Postby Christian Peoples Congress » Tue Jun 04, 2019 2:02 pm

The Christian People's Congress is one of St. Hilda's oldest parties, and today upholds tradition and stability. Espousing Christian Democracy, the CPC believes in traditional values, a strong welfare state, and a regulated economy that works for all. We are strong supporters of the Swedish monarchy, as indicated by the presence of the Three Crowns in our logo, and resist any attempt to change the current relationship between St. Hilda and Sweden.

Agricultural Alliance Party
Image

The Agricultural Alliance Party is an old agrarian party that
grew out of small farmers' movements in the 1960s. In the vein
of the Labour—Co-operative party relationship in the United
Kingdom, the AAP is in a permanent electoral alliance with the
CPC. Candidates from particular rural areas run under a joint
AAP/CPC ticket, and represent both parties in parliament, within
the CPC caucus. The agreement allows the AAP to have a larger
platform to advance farmers' interests, and helps keep the CPC
competitive in regions it might not otherwise be.

Party Platform

Health and Welfare:
  • We support universal public health insurance, ensuring that no citizen goes without healthcare.
  • We support unemployment benefits to provide for job seekers for at least a year while they have no employment
  • We support the creation of a family stipend, providing $250 USD a month per household per child, to ensure that parents can provide for their children
  • We support the subsidization of Church-run free and low-income housing and food banks, which will provide for the poorest among us.

Social and Cultural
  • We are in favor of the integration of the Church of St. Hilda as the official state church
  • We view all life as sacred, and are opposed to abortion, except in cases of rape, incest, and risk to the mother's life
  • We define marriage as between a man and a woman, in the eyes of God
  • We support the recognition of the indigenous people of St. Hilda as a distinct cultural group
  • We support expanded firearms ownership, both urban and rural, to ensure citizens have access to self-defense.

Foreign Affairs:
  • We support maintaining a Commonwealth-esque relationship with Sweden, in which we share their head of state
  • We support the pursuit of an independent foreign policy from Sweden
  • We support increased integration with other Caribbean nations, and are in favor of joining the Caribbean Community and the Association of Caribbean States
  • We reject the expansionist socialist agenda of the Foro de São Paulo, as well as the interventionist meddling of the United States in Latin American and Caribbean affairs
  • We support membership in the Organization of American States and the United Nations
  • We support maintaining a small standing army and a coast guard

Finance and Economics:
  • We support the use of the Swedish krona as our official currency
  • We support low tax rates on local enterprise, to encourage business growth
  • We support the right of workers to unionize, but are opposed to closed shops and strikes which have an overly averse affect on the public good
  • We support a national minimum wage, automatically adjusted for inflation every two years

Education
  • We support free public education up to and including the secondary level
  • We support subsidies for Church-run schools and universities
  • We support a national curriculum which promotes scholarship and traditional values
  • We support mandatory religious education through the secondary level

Environment
  • We support the creation of an Environment Ministry which will oversee environmental regulations
  • We support a transition to 100% renewable energy by 2040
  • We support facilitating the creation of national parks and wildlife reserves
  • We support enforcing sustainable deforestation, requiring any logged forest to be replaced with new saplings

Agriculture
  • We support import tariffs on foreign agricultural produce.
  • We support the institution of farm subsidies.
  • We support price controls of agricultural goods to ensure there is fair payment between the distributor and the farm.
  • We support investment in rural outreach programs to tackle high farmer suicide rates.
  • We support initiatives in higher education for work experience opportunities in farming properties.

We've "merged" with the AAP, in that our parties will have a relationship like Labour-Coop in the UK, where AAP members sit in CPC caucus as representatives of both parties.

These all seem solid, I have no objections

Some other random policy points to maybe consider including:

-Recognition of French as an official minority language
-Tax-free status for the Church of St. Hilda
-Mandatory religious education in schools
-Euthanasia and assisted suicide are unacceptable solutions to any health condition
-Stricter controls on immigration, to ensure only those who stand the best chance for integration into St. Hildan society are brought in
-Legislation to ensure the protection of private property and to ensure that every St. Hildan can protect that property, their homes, and their families
-Ensuring that health professionals can act in accordance with their personal beliefs when it comes to the administration of care
-Government subsidies to ensure that food costs are kept low, especially for imported products that are vital to the diets of St. Hildans
-We acknowledge that climate change is a threat to the survival of St. Hilda and that drastic measures must be undertaken by the citizenry and the government to do our part.
-Subsidies for farmers and fishermen during times of low harvest to ensure the continued vitality of these industries and to ensure that domestic food production is maintained
Economic Left/Right: -3.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.49

I'm ok with nearly all this points. I don't understand why french as minority language, cos sweden is the second official lenguage. And I'm not a fan of subsidies for everyone...

Guyz, we need quickly talk to the other parties cos we are gonna be part of the government or in the opposition. We need however to find the common points with all others parties and begin to have a general idea.

This is on Parliament Forum.

Electoral Alliances
Left to Right
Dark Red - Christian Syndicalist Workers Union Of Saint Hilda
Red - Peoples Labour Party Caucus - Republic
Gold - Christian Peoples Congress Caucus (includes Agricultural Alliance Party)
Green - Center-Progressive
Light Blue - Liberal-Green Alliance
Blue - Freedom Union Alliance
Grey - Anti-Federal Libertarian Party
Orange - Sankta Hilda All-Patriots' Congress
Dark Blue - Sankta Hilda Resistance
Black - Peoples Front for National Sovereignty

At present, 27 MPs are required for a majority.

Possible coalitions include:

Broadly right-wing:
Liberal-Green Alliance + Freedom Union Alliance = 32

Broadly left-wing:
Liberal-Green Alliance + CP (center progressive) + CPC + PLP-R (People's Labour Party+ Republic)
= 30

However, I looked up to others parties' platforms and I really didn't find ANYTHING in common wth the left-wing except for the environment programs. If u want me to do something, tell me.

No youre right, we're a right wing party. I can see room for cooperation with basically anyone other than the liberal alliance since they're republicans and economic and social liberals.

The AAP Caucus would be very hesitant in working with any of the left-wing parties. I think we are better suited in a right-wing coalition for form government or opposition.

Well, I think so. We need to collaborate with the right. I've studied all the possibilities but even if we get an agreement with all the others right parties and form a Mega-coalition , we are actually not enough to form the absolute majority of 27 deputies. So we'll be however part of the opposition, if numbers of the Parliament do not change.

This are the actual political parties.
We are the gold one. I don't know why we were put in the left wing (prob. for agrarian socialism). I'm actually ok in to not be considered a right force member, cos Christian Democratic parties have be never been strongly right parties, but I totally disagree wth the ultra left position were they put us...
