Welcome to Qersi International Airport! We are the largest airport in Merni, serving its capital city Qersi. We are looking to expand, so we invite all international passenger and cargo airlines to open routes to our airport.
ABOUT THE AIRPORT
The airport was commissioned in 1957, to alleviate the high congestion at Qersi's original airport, Qersi City Airport (officially just "Qersi Aerodrome", still operating today), whose expansion was impossible because the surrounding land had been fully developed. Construction of the airport began in 1960 and it was inaugurated in 1963. At the time, it consisted of one passenger terminal (today the central part of Terminal 1) and one air cargo terminal. The airport proved popular, despite its distance from the city centre, and within less than 20 years, was at full capacity. Terminal 1 was expanded, renovated and modernised in 1981, and a new Terminal 2 was opened in 1990. The air cargo terminal was also expanded. The latest expansions occured in 2006, when Terminal 1 was renovated again and a new Terminal 3 was also built. Terminal 3 was the first terminal in Merni capable of handling the Airbus A380 and similar aircraft. To enable the airport to handle this aircraft, the runways were also upgraded to a world-class standard.
The airport is owned by Qersi International Airport Ltd. The ownership of this company is split between the federal government of Merni (35%), the government of Qersi Province (35%), the city of Qersi (15%) and Qersi International Airport Employees' Trust (15%). The current chief executive is Jone Vayeras and the airport's general manager is Istikov Nernis.
RUNWAYS AND TECHNICAL DETAILS
Qersi International has three runways:
Runway 09L/27R: 2 950 m (9 678 ft) long, concrete paved
Runway 09R/27L: 3 520 m (11 549 ft) long, concrete paved
Runway 13/31: 2 357 m (7 732 ft) long, asphalt paved
Runway 09R/27L is capable of handling all variants of Airbus A380 and A340 and Boeing 747 and 777 aircraft (or equivalents) safely. Most other long-haul aircraft (including A330, A350, B787 and some variants of A340 and B777) can use 09L/27R. Short-haul and regional aircraft can use any runway. Taxiways and stands are capable of serving all the above aircraft. The airport is located at an elevation of 4 m above mean sea level.
LOCATION AND CONNECTIONS
The airport is located 29 km northwest of central Qersi. It is connected to the A4 and B162 highways, the Veseri line of the Qersi Underground and the Nevi mainline railway.
By car or taxi
The airport is located approx. 40 km to the west of central Qersi. It can be accessed through Junction 6 on the A4 highway. The journey time to/from central Qersi is approximately 50 minutes, but can take 75 minutes during peak hours due to traffic. The taxi fare to/from central Qersi is fixed at 150 koras during the daytime and 220 koras from 10pm to 5am. For private cars, both short term and long term parking are available at Parking 1 (near Terminals 1 & 2) and Parking 2 (near Terminal 3)
By public transport
There are three public transport options at the airport:
- Bus: Qersi city bus routes 521, 522, 29, 142 and 144 stop at the airport bus station (located outside Terminal 1). Routes 521 and 522 are express routes (every 15 min) connecting the airport to different areas in central Qersi. The journey time is 60-80 minutes and the fare is 25 koras. Route 29 is a slower route (every 25 min) to central Qersi (90-100 min, 8 koras). The other routes serve suburban areas and are of little interest to visitors. All buses run 24 hours a day.
- Underground: The Veseri line of the Qersi Underground Railway serves the airport. The station is located near Terminal 1. The journey takes approx. 45 min and the fare is 32 koras. However, this train is often crowded especially in peak hours and lacks space for luggage. Services depart every 3-5 minutes, but not after 11pm.
- Railway: The Airport Shuttle is a non-stop service operated by the Nevi Railway between the airport and Qersi's Nevi station (one of the major termini). The station is located near Terminal 1. A journey takes approx. 25-30 min and the fare is 45 koras. These trains leave every 10-15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes at night.
TERMINALS
The airport has 3 passenger terminals and a cargo terminal. A shuttle train connects the different terminals, as shown in the schematic diagram.
TERMINAL 1
Terminal 1 is the original terminal, opened in 1963. It has been extensively renovated and expanded in 1981 and 2006, making it very modern. The terminal contains 60 gates (numbered A1-A40 and B1-B20) for multiverse destinations. It is also connected directly with the railway station and Parking 1, and by shuttle train to Terminals 2 & 3.
Terminal 1 is the hub of Merni National Airlines (MNA), Merni's flag carrier and largest airline.

TERMINAL 2
Terminal 2 was opened in 1990 and has 40 gates. It consists of the main building next to Terminal 1, which contains the check-in and security areas and gates C1-C20, as well as the satellite building containing gates D1-D20. The buildings are connected to each other and to other terminals by the shuttle train.
It is the hub of Air Merni, the country's second biggest airline.

TERMINAL 3
Terminal 3 is the newest terminal, opened in 2006. It is the only terminal capable of handling the Airbus A380 and similar aircraft, with provisions for double-deck boarding available at all gates. It consists of 40 gates (E1-E40).

CARGO TERMINAL
The world-class cargo terminal at the airport, opened in 1963, is capable of handling large volumes of cargo, as well as special goods like perishables, animals, plants, dangerous goods, valuable and high-security goods etc.
