The CIA doesn't have an enhancement serum, very few factions have things like that and right now most governments except for a few more totalitarian ones aren't ahead in this technology. It's already stretching a lot for this to be a thing but if it is a thing, it's likely a BMC secret operation and he would have been in the BMC for the entire time.

Finally, there's no Chinese-India conflict in the timeline. Not going to add such a thing in via the backstory of one character as in all likelihood it would be a major event if it did happen and if I were adding such a thing there would be more formal changes to the RP lore to reflect that it happened.

While Pyramid isn't quite a closed faction entirely right now, it doesn't exactly work in the way you're thinking it does. There's a lot more manipulation involved. Someone working for Pyramid in the United States most likely doesn't know that they're working for Pyramid. It is a secret society, but there's, well, an emphasis on the secret part. The person would assume they're working behind a ton of layers of front companies and wouldn't know what Pyramid is. There's some higher ups who know the truth but these generally aren't field agents and are the people who work on base full time and organize Pyramid ops and the like, using the front companies and unsuspecting agents as puppets.

If someone apped for Pyramid and was accepted, they would either be:

A: Base staff, and this is a debatable idea as you wouldn't be able to do much other than things at base, or

B: One of the soldiers on the ground such as Sage or the others in the 4thEU that have appeared in the Great Game thread. This is a completely different path from what you apped as and essentially involves being brainwashed and sent around the world to act as a mercenary for no pay and/or being experimented on to develop your powers in the first place.

Although base staff aren't immune to brainwashing in the first place. Everyone in Pyramid worships Khnemu as a supreme being to some degree.

I'll try to think of a way to fix the backstory. Also, Warden was one that prevented the war. The war was stopped.

CHARACTER FILE
The following file has been approved for viewing by SELECT EYES.

Isaac Lawson

Name: Isaac Lawson
Alias: Hydro
Appearance:
Image

Gender: Male
Age: 26

Build: 191 centimeters, 63 kilograms. His body is lithe and athletic, with matching gracefulness in his movements.

Powers:
Water Generation: Isaac can generate pure water from his body, which he can use for various applications.

Water Manipulation: Isaac can directly manipulate water within 50 feet of himself. He can manipulate up to 2.5 million liters of water, which is the same amount of water in an Olympic sized swimming pool. However, the more water he manipulates, the more energy he uses. Only his imagination and limited physical energy limit his water manipulation ability. This manipulation includes various abilities such as blasting water at extremely high speeds, directly manipulating the temperature, forming solid water constructs, and even using the water to boost his movements. However, this technique is only limited to water in its liquid state, making him unable to manipulate water vapor or ice.

Hydrokinetic Regeneration - Isaac can heal himself, and others, by using water. However, his healing abilities need pure water to work, and the amount of water needed to heal depends on the severity of the injury.

Weaknesses:
No Immunity: Isaac has no immunity to his own powers, making him vulnerable whenever he loses control of his power. He also does not have the stereotypical accompanying abilities of water manipulation such as the ability to breathe underwater, making him able to die by drowning.

Water Only: Isaac can only manipulate water, not other liquids. Thus, tainting nearby water sources with other liquids can reduce the effectiveness of Isaac's capabilities by forcing him to create his own water, draining his energy further. Furthermore, while Isaac can manipulate tainted water to a certain degree, this forces him to expend far more energy than he usually does, making him easier to tire out.

Needs Water: Isaac is greatly dependent upon water sources in order to be able to use his abilities. If there are no water sources nearby and he is unable to generate water using his abilities (usually due to fatigue), Isaac becomes totally helpless.

Water Immunity: Enemies with immunity to or abilities that negate water are Isaac's natural enemies. Aside from his regular combat load-out, Isaac has no other ways to fight such enemies that he will possibly encounter.

Electric Attacks: As a manipulator of water, Isaac is intensely vulnerable to electric based attacks, which is rightly considered his greatest weakness.

Regular Human: Isaac is just a normal human with the ability to manipulate water, giving him all the weaknesses a regular human does.

Equipment:
Bulletproof Suit: The gentleman's attire: stylish, elegant, and tactical. Isaac wears a two-button suit almost everywhere he goes, to the point that it's considered his superhero attire. The entire suit is bulletproof, enough to stop melee weapons and small-caliber small arms fire just in case a marksman is good enough to bypass Isaac's usual defenses. It's not totally invulnerable, though; anything larger than a pistol can ruin the suit. It also doesn't protect Isaac from blunt damage; if you hit him hard enough, you won't break the suit, but you can break Isaac's bones underneath.

Walther PPK: Isaac's usual weapon of choice, chambered in .32 ACP and accompanied by a silencer and 2 extra magazines. He usually carries two, and dual-wields them whenever he needs more firepower.

TR-1 Ultralight: If you hadn't noticed already, Isaac has a thing for action movies, and he has let it influence his superhero life. His firearm of choice, when his usual dual PPKs won't suffice, is a heavily modified Taran Tactical Innovations TR-1 Ultralight with BCM parts, compensator, a 1-6x24 Trijicon Accupoint scope with an RMR on a canted rail and Magpul PMAGs, which he copied from his favorite action movie character.

Benelli M4 Super 90: "There really are just some thugs you can't take down easily, even with an assault rifle and with your water abilities. So what do you do? Why, get a bigger gun, of course!" This guy is living the dream.

Allegiance: Team Aegis
Nationality: American
Hometown: San Jose, California
Sexuality: Bisexual

Personality:
At first glance and in front of the cameras, Isaac is basically what you get when you give a fanboy the chance to become the star of his own action film. He's unnecessarily loud, energetic, prone to pointing out the obvious, and loves to do things for the sake of coolness. He disregards authority, always dresses stylishly, and spends his money lavishly on unnecessary stuff to keep up the "coolness" factor. He basically thinks he lives in an action film, and this influences every decision he makes. Thankfully, this also makes him what a (stereotypical) action protagonist should be: loyal to his friends, helpful to those in need, and willing to put himself in danger for the sake of good.

However, behind the scenes where the actual hero work gets done, Isaac is the exact opposite. He recognizes the fact that the fanboy act would only get him killed in combat, and thus adopted a no-nonsense act on the field. In this one, he is a consummate professional, doing his missions professionally and without any strings attached. If you tell him to kill, he will stop at nothing until the target is dead. He is ruthless on the battlefield, willing to use dirty tactics and dishonorable methods to ensure that he wins at the end. Isaac never spares an enemy the way an action hero would, preferring to kill them every chance he gets. He doesn't care how a mission gets done, as long as it gets done. He also doesn't really care if his achievements are noted by the public, as all he cares about is getting the job done.

Basically, it's like two personalities in one body: a foolish face for the world, and a deadly one beneath.

Motivation:
Isaac basically just wants to live out his childhood dream of being an action hero, and to enjoy every moment of it.

Biography:
Isaac was born to the celebrity Lawson family of San Jose, California. From the start of his life, he was already in the spotlight, being the only child of two famous entertainers: the award-winning dramatic actor Matthew Lawson and the fashion model Minerva Claudette. He was expected by many to follow his parents into the world of entertainment, and Isaac embraced the celebrity life wholeheartedly and willingly followed the world's expectations. At a young age, he had already announced his intention to become an action hero, which many thought was a signal of his intention to become a film star. However, what many failed to see is that Isaac didn't want to act out being an action hero, he wanted to actually be one.

At age 14, after a string of successful action films as a child actor, Isaac was hailed as the next "big thing" for action cinema; the actor that would define the next generation of action movie stars to come. Despite his growing success, however, Isaac was disillusioned. He wasn't getting anywhere with his dream, and it looked like his dream was impossible after all.

That was, until one day he suddenly found himself manipulating water. It didn't happen in a flashy or dramatic way. It just so happened that Isaac was deep in his thoughts in the shower when his abilities first manifested. It was the happiest day of Isaac's life, as finally he now had a way to live out his dream: The Hero League. If they can help him develop his powers further, he can be the action hero he had always wanted to be.

And so the world was shocked when suddenly Isaac Lawson, the rising star of action cinema, suddenly retired from entertainment and disappeared from public view. Not even his parents would tell why he just went dark. It was years until he resurfaced again, but when he did, he was no longer an actor.

He was now a hero. Rather than acting out heroics, he was actually saving people, taking down bad guys, and promoting law and order. Thus, Isaac Lawson became a rising star again, this time in the heroic scene.

Team Aegis would have 2 water manipulators then? That's what I have in a WIP app earlier.

In situations like this I'd suggest putting twists on the powers so they aren't the same thing, although Talc's already has a different twist to it in this case.

Looking it over, if I may, I think our powers are already different from the start, despite them being water manipulation.

My character can only manipulate from 50 feet of himself, while Talchyon's can manipulate up to 2000 feet. Mine has a limit on the amount of water, his does not. Also, while Isaac's powers only exhaust him physically, Marcus' powers apparently taxes both his mental and physical states.

Also, Isaac has a lot more versatility on the manipulation including raising temperature, creating constructs, etc., while Marcus can only pressurize the water.

After that, our powers already differ.

Understood about Pyramid, and though I imagine there is some way we could make such an affiliation work, I admit it would probably compromise the character.

What do you suggest I do regarding the Secretary’s affiliation then? Trying to work out where his story would best fit in.

CHARACTER FILE
The following file has been approved for viewing by SELECT EYES.

Cryptura Encephalonis

Name: Cryptura Encephalonis
Alias: Trojan
Appearance:
Image

Image

Gender: Male
Age: 5

Build: Varies depending on host. Trojan himself is a rather unremarkable species of parasitic roundworm that can be viewed under any standard microscope. To the naked eye, it is practically invisible for obvious reasons.

Bob can take the appearance of whomever Trojan occupies, essentially. He is a featureless, 30-ish man of indeterminate nationality with black hair, black eyes, and an overall average build. Stands at 6'0".

Powers:
  • Parasite Physiology: Trojan, obviously, is a parasite—albeit one that has sentience and a degree of intelligence, and retains all abilities commonly found in an organism of his likes. Once inside of a host—preferably a dead one—Trojan will take full control of their bodily systems as if it were an extension of him, effectively allowing him to reanimate corpses or assume control of living ones.
  • Parasitic Relationship: Because he is a parasite, all forms of sustenance a host will usually thrive from, like food, sunlight, etc., will also benefit Trojan, allowing him to regenerate from wounds or prolong his own lifespan. Regardless of the host's physical limitations or current injuries, the host's stats, such as reaction time, speed, agility, etc, will all be pushed to their peak, albeit not to superhuman levels.
  • DNA Replication: Once settled inside of a host, Trojan can replicate their DNA to effectively mimic the organism, allowing him to access any information, genes, and memories that are stored inside of the host's genetic code. By accessing such information, Trojan is able to adopt traits such as the muscle memory of the user, common skills, and common memories, which can be useful in certain situations, and will carry on to other hosts.
    • Forced Evolution: The primary application of Trojan's "powers," so to speak, this ability allows the parasite to forcefully edit the genes or DNA of a host organism to induce forced mutations and otherwise manipulate their body in exotic ways. Examples of this ability include the growing of tentacles on a human body, gills on a dog, the strengthening of muscles on a human beyond their normal physical constraints, and more. This can also be used as a form of jury-rigged "regeneration" for the host, albeit slow in nature. He can also use this technique to spread himself into another host, usually by physical contact or opening a wound on a target host and launching himself inside.

Weaknesses:
  • Even though the aforementioned "force adaptations" will "stack" on a host, only one mutation can be done at a time, meaning Trojan cannot sprout another arm and gills on a host's body at the same time. Moreover, the process is not instantaneous—longer changes will take several minutes to complete.
  • For some reason, Trojan is inherently weak to psychics and psychic abilities. The most potent psychics are able to surgically incapacitate him, thus removing his control over a host's body.
  • Body manipulators are able to fight back against Trojan's attempts to take control of their body.
  • Trojan's ability to force evolution and manipulate a host's body are weakened by things like hunger and lack of sleep. Take these away, and he will be otherwise controlling a walking corpse.
  • Obviously, Trojan is useless outside of a host body.

Equipment: Nothing, really, aside from a healthy host, and whatever is on hand.

Allegiance: Team Aegis
Nationality: Unknown
Hometown: Unknown
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Personality: Trojan is a quick and resourceful learner, but is by no means inherently "evil," choosing to do more good than evil most of the time. He's naturally curious and quiet, carrying characteristics and mannerisms one would find from a scientist rather than an aggressive parasite hell-bent on survival. In times of crisis, his general disregard for a host's safety will cause him to make dangerous choices.

Motivation: To improvise, adapt, overcome, and evolve, and survive. Also, to figure out a purpose aside from fighting bad guys.
Biography: No one truly knows when this certain specimen of Cryptura Encephalonis, an otherwise unremarkable roundworm, gained sentience, but it can be assumed it was close to the time of when he hatched from an egg inside of a rat in a junkyard outside of San Diego. Said rat was reanimated once Cryptura Encephalonis made its way to the rat’s brain... before it was later eaten by a dog and spread throughout a large group of dogs in the junkyard. The roundworm’s intelligence grew exponentially as his hosts changed, from birds and snakes, to even a dead human hobo.

The worm would use the muscle memory and genetic memory from the homeless man to restore his host to a prime physical state, eventually managing to land him a small part time job and home in the process, under the new inconspicuous name of Bob. It would use Bob as a means of transportation around the city, as well as a way in which it could gain knowledge of the outside world. Drug dealers and potential human traffickers who tried to cross paths with him were dealt with accordingly once the worm discovered his ability to manipulate the homeless man’s body, turning Bob into a sort of local legend in his area for his tendency to quickly and violently deal with threats.

One day, word of a rogue super-powered individual spread throughout San Diego, soon culminating in a hostage situation in a large mall—the same mall which Bob was working at. When it became clear that the SDPD could not defuse the situation, the local Aegis team was mobilized instead. By the time they had arrived, however, the superhuman had been single-handedly disabled by a man named Bob. Security camera footage showed that Bob was some sort of body manipulator, his movements fluid and methodical. It showed that his means of incapacitating the superhuman was through intense body modification, which had turned Bob into a sort of walking menagerie from all the animal traits he possessed, as we’ll a sort a living weapon, for obvious reasons.

The Aegis team had no choice but to detain a highly-compliant Bob and take him in for questioning, where they soon came to the realization that this “Bob” was being controlled by a parasitic worm that could access the DNA and genes of his host and modify it to his liking. Seeing the obvious danger of such a parasite, the Aegis team deemed him to be a threat, but an otherwise contained one. Bob’s “detainment” was approved as Aegis took him on to monitor and control him—a preventative measure to prevent any other factions of interest from finding the parasite and potentially causing harm with it. More recently, the worm, under close supervision, was transferred to Aegis’s New York City division, under the code name of Trojan. The team figured that Trojan could be put to use on the field while coming off as just a regular body manipulator, due to his naturally passive nature and compliance to orders. The truth behind him, however, still remains classified.

I don't think any Pyramid affiliations would work unless you fundamentally changed the character. As I said, he would be less of an independent actor working for Pyramid and more someone either not in the know at all, or brainwashed into their belief system.

As for affiliation I recommend all characters going to the Team Aegis or Team Next arcs unless you already have another path laid out ahead of time, as these are where most of the focus will go and it guarantees that you'll have interaction.

Looks fine so far, expect such a thing on Aegis to be pretty controlled and shrouded in secrecy. The parasite probably isn't known but the host is.

CHARACTER FILE
The following file has been approved for viewing by SELECT EYES.

Amalia Kaguya Huera

Name: Amalia Kaguya Huerta
Alias: Psycher
Appearance:
Image
Image

Gender: Female
Age: 21

Build: 5'1, 122 lbs

Powers: Amalia has telekinesis which allows her to lift her own body weight multiple times. However, she can only lift about five times her bodyweight consistently. However, while she can't lift everything, her telekinetic ability is very good for pushing things back, pushing them around, and generally moving them. It can be used within one hundred and fifty meters around her but the accuracy of it reduces as she targets things further away, meaning someone at the edge of her telekinetic radius would be able to push their way through it potentially depending on their strength. Amalia has shown flashes of having some kind of mental based ability, but this is undeveloped.

Weaknesses: Aside from the fact that Amalia can't lift very heavy objects and would have a harder time pushing these around also, Amalia's ability requires her to be within one hundred and fifty meters of the enemy and requires her to be even closer to be effective. Seventy five meters is her effective range and this exposes her to attack, which she has no power based protection from - although if she knows which direction a projectile is coming from, she can greatly slow it down or even reverse it by focusing her power on it. Physically, Amalia isn't that strong and relies on her power and her weapons - additionally, the heavier the object is, the more physically and mentally taxing it is to use telekinesis on it, discouraging her from trying to do too much and do things like lifting cars.

Equipment: Amalia uses two pistols, one of them an FN Five SeveN and the other one a Colt M1911. Aside from that, she typically carries a pocket knife and sometimes uses a length of metal chain as a weapon.

Allegiance: Team Next
Nationality: American
Hometown: Palo Alto, California
Sexuality: Bisexual

Personality: Like many of the other members of Team Next, Amalia is a bit rebellious. It's not that she has bad intentions but she tends to be very independent and doesn't take kindly to people in authority limiting that independence of hers. She's a believer in doing her own thing, however she is good natured at heart and takes the role of being a friend to many members of her team. She very much believes that the ends justify the means - which is the logic that she uses to justify her illegal vigilantism.
Motivation: To balance her regular life with an increasingly dangerous career as a vigilante.

Biography: From the start, Amalia Huerta was split between different worlds. She was born in Northern California, but her parents were from Mexico. However, things weren't that straightforward, with her family having a large amount of Japanese blood and taking some traditions from both of their home countries even as she grew up not in Mexico or Japan but in the Bay Area. Amalia grew up multilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and Japanese depending on where she was and who she was talking to. Things were made more complex in terms of upbringing when Amalia developed telekinesis early on, setting her apart from the rest of her somewhat well off family - who she loved for sure, but didn't quite fit all the way into. Many of them were in the tech business after all, hence her parents living in Palo Alto along with other relatives such as cousins, aunts, and uncles. Most of the time at family gatherings, the talk was about that... About the fancy jobs they had, about their children competing.

And then there was Amalia, who was interested in training her power and messing around with tasks that were decidedly different. Amalia spent much time working on her power - and also played American football with boys during high school, to the chagrin of her parents. She wasn't the strongest one on the field, but playing as a slot receiver and starting for a couple of years, Amalia at least drew attention from the local area for it. When it came to college, she had a chance to focus on her powers instead of athletics - there was a program for college students at the Hero League Academy in Southern California, and she would travel there with the blessing of her parents and ended up joining it. They wouldn't, after all, complain about their daughter being in a prestigious hero organization.

However, Amalia would only manage to last a year in the organization because of the strict rules on new members, and the books full of regulations and legal codes that heroes within the Hero League are expected to know. Things were... Too ordered. There was too little room for chaos there, and Amalia considered herself to be an agent of chaos rather than an agent of order. An agent of good but an agent of chaos nonetheless. Amalia ended up dropping out of this academy following low grades and disagreements with instructors, shifting her talents to her art career...

Which wasn't much of a career and at first mainly involved graffiti and street art. Avoiding her family, she managed to move back to the Bay Area in Oakland with a number of other artists, but by night, she would continue developing her powers as she met Dakota Vernon and joined forces to create Team Next, which would partly be a team for rejects from the Hero League such as both of its founders. The team quickly had some success but that didn't mean everything would be easy for its members - Amalia still has a family to deal with, and a demanding one at that, while trying to work as a hero and maintain social connections with a world that's more high class than she is. All while trying to justify her decision to drop out of college and live as an 'artist' while working sporadically, only enough to pay for the essentials.

Alright, edited the application to remove Pyramid from the equation and make Haley more of an Independent operator. I have plans in mind, he could end up drifting in any direction depending on how things develop.

CHARACTER FILE
The following file has been approved for viewing by SELECT EYES.

Secretary Samuel R. Haley, Ph.D

Name: Samuel Ryan Haley
Alias: N/A
Image
Gender: Male
Age: 42
Build: 5'11, 160 lbs, well-built but certainly not excessively so. Considered to be "good looking".

Powers:

Creative Agrokinesis: Samuel Haley is capable of creating, manipulating, growing, and extensively altering any form of plant based life on earth, from common moss to California Redwoods. His powers allow for the introduction of new species and the creation of new plant life near-instantaneously and seemingly without physical restriction, making him one of the more powerful metahumans currently alive.

Minor Regenerative Healing Factor: Due to an operation performed by research teams employed by Pyramid, Secretary Haley reaps the benefits of accelerated healing, with most minor wounds healing at a massively accelerated rate and major ones healing 60% faster. Haley is unable to regrow severed body parts and would be wholly unable to recover from extreme trauma to the head.

Increased Pain Threshold: Due to an operation performed by research teams employed by Pyramid, Secretary Haley has been bestowed an increased pain threshold, with all but the most major wounds failing to cause more than minor inconvenience pain-wise.

Weaknesses:

Fire: Secretary Haley is extremely susceptible to fire-based injury, with burns completely negating both his artificially increased pain threshold and healing factor and exceeding normal levels of pain by up to 400%. Damage done to Haley's unique plant growths in this fashion will render him increasingly exhausted until he ultimately is rendered unconscious.

Potential Blackmail: Though Samuel Haley is generally a somewhat camera-friendly individual, his personal life is unusually private for a man of his political and social relevance. Extensive investigation into Haley's past would be unlikely to turn up much that is not already known, given the lengths he has gone to conceal some details, but if an individual close to him knew where to look and who to interrogate, it is likely that they would uncover Haley's true sexual orientation, or perhaps something darker.

Equipment:

Expensive Pen: An engraved ballpoint pen made in Flanders, nothing special.

Stylish Glasses: Stolen from the Paradise Syndicate, these otherwise normal glasses provide Haley with an on-command equivalent to x-ray vision, allowing him to see through walls, cases, and other inanimate objects up to 200 feet away. This extends to objects that have been altered via metahuman abilities, but not to objects that have been altered by magic. They also sharpen his eyesight generally to a significant degree.

Surgically-Implanted Earpiece: Implanted by doctors during his time at the Paradise Syndicate, this tool allows Haley to understand the language of any speaker within hearing distance with perfect accuracy. Note, this does not allow him to speak those languages, merely understand them.

Firearms + Wealth: Haley is the owner of several firearms ranging from handguns occasionally kept on his person to automatic weapons kept at his residences. His buisnesses provide him with a substantial amount of disposable income as well.

Allegiance: The United States, Himself, The Paradise Syndicate (Former)
Nationality: American
Hometown: Council Bluffs, Iowa
Sexuality: Homosexual (Closeted)

Personality: In a typical interaction with Samuel Haley, the other person involved will leave the conversation with a couple of things. A new fact, typically, whether that be about the newest developments in the realm of Botany or Agriculture or about something else entirely. A renewed respect for a man who has accomplished so much in such a relatively short amount of time, but that seems to maintain a certain air of Midwestern approachability and kindness. Perhaps unsolicited advice, though this has gotten rarer as the years have gone by, and perhaps an interest in what propelled this man to where he is today. Publicly, Samuel is dancing on the thin line between normal and eccentric, but when he's with the select few that he considers friends, his eccentricity is significantly muted, replaced with thoughtful dialogue and dry humor.
Motivation: Sam Haley is currently engaged in a deep relationship with Pyramid, and is generally required to do whatever is asked of him by the organization to further its goals. Given his role and public persona, however, he is awarded a significant amount of independence in his actions. Having been aware of his power from a young age and regarding it as a gift rather than a curse, Haley is not nearly as idealistic as he was before his rise to prominence, but stays attached to a personal code that values the alleviation of general human suffering as a key pursuit. This sense of morality is somewhat warped, however, by a significant personal arrogance that often leads him to the conclusion that he is the answer to a given situation. This could prove dangerous under certain circumstances, or could spur heroic action in others.
Biography: Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to a Registered Nurse and a Mechanic, Samuel Haley had a mostly unremarkable childhood until his mother's death at the age of 9 in an accident. Following this, his father became an alcoholic, though unlike many Sam himself was rarely the subject of abuse by his remaining parent. His father remarried when the boy was 13, then divorced when he was 15, and shortly following Samuel's 16th Birthday his father was found dead beneath a car he'd been working on, ruled an accident as well.

Samuel lived with an affluent friend for the remaining two years of high school, his newfound freedom from the responsibilities of being a caretaker and co-breadwinner weighing on his conscience yet alleviating a more material burden, allowing him to focus on his studies and ultimately graduate as the 4th in his class. He would attend the University of Wisconsin and double major in Agriculture and Botanical Studies, both majors requiring similar classes and the workload remaining manageable given his inherently intimate knowledge of the subject.

Pursuing a Masters Degree and ultimately a Doctorate in Botany at Wageningen University and Research Center in the Netherlands, Samuel quickly earned the respect and admiration of his peers, and as part of his doctoral thesis, he would lead a small expedition into the Amazon at the age of 26, his study focusing on rare plant life and its use in medicine. It was shortly before this time that he would become involved in the criminal underpinnings of the Paradise Syndicate, through which he was introduced to then leader Michelle Trelino, whom he would befriend. Following the nasty leadership shuffle that resulted in her death, however, he would slip away with two pieces of stolen tech and a very, very nice pen. He would take these with him in Brazil.

Miraculously, just days into the expedition, Samuel stumbled upon a previously undiscovered species of plant that he would later name Exima Vitae for its properties that would ultimately win him and 3 others the Nobel prize in Physiology and Medicine. The plant, with Samuel's careful and unexpectedly helpful guidance, would be revealed to contain a previously undiscovered chemical vital in the fight against the progression of Alzheimer's, a discovery that skyrocketed him to the forefront of the world stage for a short time. By the age of 30, his name was set to be recorded in science textbooks and medical journals forever.

In his 30's Haley would release three books, write in numerous academic journals, and use his accumulated wealth to enter the farming business in Iowa. Quickly expanding and exceeding expected yields year after year, it was not long before a rising star in the U.S. Corn Industry became big enough to take charge. Eating up smaller farms and undercutting his opposition with ridiculous yields, and the help of questionable interests, at the age of 39, Haley was the heaviest juggernaut in the state.

In 2025 when the newly elected President took office, Haley was tapped to be Secretary of Agriculture thanks to fat checks during the campaign and a relationship with the Vice Presidential nominee. Leaving his industry in the capable hands of a trusted ally, Dr. Haley became Secretary Haley, and has since become a trusted advisor to the 47th President of the United States. All this time, his powers have remained under wraps, and for all intents and purposes, there is no reason to suspect that the new Secretary of Agriculture is a Metahuman, perhaps aside from his staunchly Pro-Metahuman politics.

Jun’ichi “Yūrei” Tsukuda

Name: Jun’ichi “Jun” Tsukuda
Alias: Yūrei
Appearance:
Image

Gender: Male
Age: 23

Build: 5’10”, 145

Powers: Jun’s kit is about stealth and striking when the time is right. Jun also employs and excels in close quarters combat, wielding a katana, a wakizashi and a tanto. Jun also makes use of several martial arts for hand-to-hand engagements.

Enhanced Combat - Jun is incredibly skilled in many forms of combat, possessing a near-superhuman level of skill and understanding in most widely-known forms of combat. From Kenjutsu all the way to the US’ Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP).

Enhanced Agility - Jun possesses agility beyond that of peak human potential, increasing his balance, bodily coordination, speed, reflexes, strength and endurance. Jun also uses his enhanced agility for stealth, using it to quickly get to cover and to stay in the shadows.

Enhanced Swordmanship - Jun is an incredibly proficient swordsman, having a natural aptitude for the ways of the sword and all sword-related martial arts.

Enhanced Wits - Jun is very clever, and possesses the ability to think quickly on his feet and adapt to the changing situation quickly. He is able to remain cool at all times and come up with ideas on the fly.

Weaknesses: Jun is a very powerful close quarters threat, possessing abilities that enhance his prowess in a low-ranged engagement. However, Jun is practically useless in medium and long-distance engagements, having no way to counter an opponent in any long-distance engagement besides for closing the gap and getting into a CQC situation.

If Jun somehow gets into a situation in which his Enhanced Wits are unable to help him, he will oftentimes have a breakdown, leaving him vulnerable to attacks from his opponent.

Equipment:
    Sword - Katana
    Sword - Wakizashi
    Knife - Tanto
    Knives - 8x Throwing Knives
    Pistol - FN FNX-45

Allegiance: Team next
Nationality: Japanese-American
Hometown: Los Angeles
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Personality: Jun has an unwavering sense of morality and justice, and an unbending will to see to it that that justice be served. He will go to any lengths to bring his - slightly skewed - sense of justice down on any deserving person, and won’t hesitate to kill while doing it. Jun despises crime in nearly all of it’s forms, perceiving it all to be on the same level.

Motivation: To end all crime, and to give criminals what they deserve - death.

Biography:
From the beginning, Jun had always been different. He constantly questioned the world around him, questioning society, social morals, and the injustices of the world. Jun also possessed quite a lot of skill when it came to martial arts, quickly picking up Kendo, Judo and boxing. Jun was a bright kid, he did well in school - scoring well on exams, getting good grades on exams - but it never felt like it was enough. As he grew older, Jun became dead set on leaving his mark on the world, but deciding how always seemed to prove a challenge to him.

It was in the summer before his senior year of high school when his questions were answered. His father was caught in a bank robbery incident, being shot and killed when he attempted to subdue the robber, but allowing time for other civilians to flee from the building, as well as buying time for security subdue the suspect. It was in the aftermath of this incident that Jun was resolved to become a superhero, hoping to join Team Aegis to help eliminate crime.

However, Jun quickly noticed how limited Team Aegis truly was. He slowly grew to despise the bureaucratic red tape that held the Hero League back. His hatred for the red tape - over time - became a hatred for the Hero League all together. He rejected the Hero League, and became a vigilante in the San Francisco area. Soon after, Jun sought Team Next, after hearing of their exploits in Oakland.

CHARACTER FILE
The following file has been approved for viewing by SELECT EYES.

Name: Alisha Shepherd
Alias: Duchess
Appearance:
Image

Gender: Female
Age: 30

Build: 5'9, 150lbs with an athletic build.

Powers: Vastly increased agility, reflexes and strength to that of a normal human being being capable of lifting up to 900 kilos, being able to react in half the time of a normal human and make inhumanly difficult moves. One of her favourites being that she can stick the spike of a pole axe in the ground and balance perfectly on the shaft or even wall run for a period of time. All this combines with her insane proficiency in melee combat, using her agility and reflexes to avoid and parry enemy attacks while her incredible strength allows her to lay down absolutely crushing strikes on her enemy with great precision and speed.

Alisha is also a fantastic blacksmith being able to create beautiful pieces of armour and weaponry, all of which she uses herself.

Weaknesses: Her ranged choices are limited, partly because she refuses to use guns and because she's not really been taught how to use a gun. While a crossbow or bow can offer a bit of versatility in terms of bolt and arrow heads they are extremely limited in combat against firearm wielders. Because she takes the role of a close quarters shock trooper, she is very vulnerable at all times during the fight, primarily staying out of cover and using erratic movement to avoid being hit which has more risk to it than solid cover.

Equipment:
-Various melee weapons: Duchess has many, many different melee weapons ranging from daggers to axes to long swords to spears and so on and so fourth. An entire arsenal of weaponry stretching between the dates of the iron ages to Edwardian era. Almost all of these weapons are hand forged by herself, balanced and weighted for her and her alone and as such are designed to be much heavier and sturdier than historical examples. Her preferred melee weapons are the Zweihander greatsword, hand-and-half/bastard sword, pole axe or evening star two handed mace.

-Crossbows and bows: Duchess usually chooses between some sort of crossbow or bow to take out with her much to the frustration of her team mates. Thankfully she's not against using modern bows and crossbows.

-Plate Armour: Duchess uses a form of full plate armour as seen in the picture (Though wears a soft kevlar vest with a chainmail layer to cover any exposed parts in combat). It's thicker than historical plate and the breast plate provides level 3 protection with the other plates being able to stop pistol calibre rounds.

Allegiance: Team Aegis
Nationality: United Kingdom, England
Hometown: London
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Personality: A determined, confident yet vicious individual. Her stoicism and cold heartedness combined with her strange leadership qualities earned her the nickname of Duchess long before it became her official alias. Despite this she has been known to be a tease and likes to use sarcasm and innuendo to make people feel uncomfortable. She's extremely orderly, almost obsessively so and her heart is in the past and is a massive sucker for anything old.
Motivation: A stickler for order in the world, Alisha sees criminals and villains as some sort of agents of chaos. She does what she does because of her relentless desire to bring some degree of order to a chaotic world whether it kills her or not. The saving people thing is just a byproduct of her work in her eyes.
Biography: Born to a rich family in central London, from a young age Alisha went to the best schools, got the best clothes, got the best cars. She was always pampered. Being that her father was involved in stock market trade and was very successful, this made sense. From a young age Alisha showed metahuman prowess and got into acrobatics, fencing and archery. This evolved into getting involved in traditional archery and HEMA when she discovered her passion for history, particularly medieval history. Her father funded all of this including her other hobby which was black smithing, a difficult thing to get into when you consider the lack of black smiths around these days. Then came college and university, where she studied law with the intention of becoming a lawyer though this proved not to be her liking, hating all the talking and back and fourth of the court room. Alisha then travelled the world in her early 20s where she found herself in the US where she witnessed Team Aegis fight a group of metahuman villains. She had finally found her calling.

Through hard work and perseverance Alisha managed to get into Team Aegis, her unorthodox method of fighting somehow proving useful. By her late 20s she was a well known member of Aegis and now at the age of 30 is seen as one of the team 'mothers' of sorts, looking after newer members and offering guidance in some form. Of course, her father still funds her where Aegis doesn't meaning she to this day is still very well off. She made such a name for herself that more intelligent villains keep something a little more suited to hand to hand combat close in hopes that it'll save them from her bringing down whatever archaic and shiny tool of historical death down upon their heads.

I have a feeling our two characters in Team Next (Jun and Daniel) aren't going to get along at all.

Making progress on my WIP character. OP, I did tweak a few things in the powers. Basically, raised the max temp of water/fire to 500 degrees, and expanded the distance Marcus can use it to 15 ft. If these aren't ok, let me know. Thanks.
