Captain Brooke Christensen rubbed her eyes, she had been on duty for eleven hours and was looking forward to sleeping once she switched off with her XO who was preparing to relieve her. Suddenly the radio crackled to life. “Greetings, RASS Rapière, this is the ONS Blackfyre on patrol of the September Sea. Could you please state your reason for passing?

Christensen turned to her XO and said, “Well, that was quicker than expected”. Her XO replied, “Yeah we just got the information from command a few minutes ago”. “Well, at least they are punctual,” she replied and walked over to pick up the radio. “Hello, this is Captain Christensen, Commander of Task Force Nord Lumière, we are escorting a shipment of humanitarian aid to The Green Union port of Mont Coulon.” She replied.

"Understood, Captain Christensen. Would it be acceptable for the Blackfyre to join you on your voyage?"

Stg. Rainer Husch, 809th Irregular Forces Battalion

As they began to open fire Husch turned his head to see CGU soldiers set up a machine gun position. With this, he ran to flank the gun emplacement and once in a good position he began to open fire on the soldiers at the gun.

OOC: I would normally not respond to such a short post, but an agreement has been reached with GRA.

IC:
Pvt. Henry Wolz, C-Sec Land Security, Coldhand Mine, Arasland

Henry could barely see what he was shooting at, but shoot he did. The MG team did their best to suppress the general area around where their corporal had supposedly seen a wall with rebels, but between the snow, wind, cold, and spotlights in their faces the job of aiming became little more than guesswork.

But then something did flick across his vision, barely visible between muzzle flashes and the rock of the gun. It was a figure running in the open! Wolz’s corporal saw it too, and shouted at the private to bring the bastard down. The spray flew wildly as the machine gun swung around, and Henry was not sure he had hit anything, but the figure could no longer be seen running.

Cpt. Ben Smith, C-Sec Land Security, Coldhand Mine, Arasland:

The battle did not last much longer than that. Smith himself had been all the way in the security building when the first shots pierced the wind, but immediately shouldered his M4 and fought his way back through the storm to reach his men, by which time he only found the remaining security troopers closing in on two armed men near a retaining wall who quickly surrendered to the overwhelming force. Another was found out in the open on the tarmac, lying face down in the snow with his blood already turned to ice around him. Smith toed the body, to find it almost frozen solid already. At that point someone passed the captain one of the weapons the gunmen had been using. It was a Mortuk MD-2025, Made in Durradon.

Smith turned with a barely suppressed grin to the mine security officer, Strekker, who had just come up to the tarmac. “I guess we’ll see how you explain this one. Now, the footage or your life.”

Ultimately the C-Sec personnel would complete their mission and retrieve the security footage, evidently showing the ethnically Arcadian gunmen who had attacked them being brought in by the same VTOLs which the nation’s security had seen interfering with a combat site. However, by the time the CGU could build its case against the government of Durradon the nation had already pulled its investments and most workers out of the country. With the CSD a new member of the Kamooko Pact and the CGU’s list of foreign enemies already growing daily the case was sealed and never brought to the eye of the international community.

The Arcadians, however, disappeared entirely.

WO2. Steffen Heydrich, 171st Fighter Reconnaissance Squadron, UFAF Air Force

When the attacks had occurred, he was with Katerina in the city. He ignored his phone at first but after an hour he picked up and he was told of what happened. When he arrived back on the base they were under lockdown, and they were to be ready for combat. His fighter that had been damaged was repaired, and the mechanics had they ready to go airborne with the rest of the UFAF fighters in the base. The snow beat down outside, as they listened to the news of the attacks. It wasn't just the empire, but it was the world. he didn't know who would do this or even be able to do an attack on this scale. Overhead some fighters flew overhead scanning the skies. He and the other pilots looked over the maps for the Green Union, and Northern Vilhala. They were told to be prepared to engage any enemy forces that could come into Urlistan airspace.

But the attacks never came.

The days past and political changes were quick with the imperial convention ending, and the transition of the empire into a federation. The nationwide alerts were coming to an end in this week at some point. Communication from outside sources have been cut due to the lockdown which many were saying would be relaxed over the next two days. His barracks room while comfortable was starting to get cramped. But the skies have cleared, and so far the reconnaissance flights have died down. Hopefully, this meant the worst was over.

Schuttler-Lay Army AirCorp Joint Base, Urlistan

Ltcol. Ägidius Heider, Base Liaison Officer, Central Command Detachment

Orders have come down from command recently to relieve the Detachment wide lockdown in the country at the end of the week. They were also told to be aware of possible reassignment of combat troops as the situation in southwest markion was heating up. Luckily the forces would only be moved if conflict were to break out involving Arcadia.

Hugo stood looking out at the crowd, as C-Sec and foreign press swarm the aftermath of the shooting. The snow fell from the grey sky and the crowd grew ever larger. Hugo looked down at his watch and it was about time to check in with Wood. Hugo turned to his left and walked down the road and pulled his phone out of his pocket, the phone was connected to a secure line and he called into it "Mr. Wood are you able to talk?"

This situation provided the perfect opportunity for a justification for military intervention, or for Wood to cause more of a divide within the Congress. This event while terrible could work to their advantage. This would, of course, would make his stay in this place longer. Looks like he would have to wait for this to subside before he can go on leave back to Arcadia to see his family. Luckily his debrief would be much easier since the special operations team from Mont Coulon made it back a few days ago. Back at the control center, the other three agents were working on ways to manipulate this event against C-Sec.

Soon after the phone started ringing it was picked up, a chipper female voice coming through from the other end to the tune of “Mr. Wood’s office.” She listened patiently as the Arcadian explained his need to speak to Wood, but told him he would need to set up an appointment. When he said it was urgent she did not relent.

Getting in contact with Wood was going to happen on the congressman’s terms, or it would not happen at all.

He stood there gobsmacked on how they would just come in here, without papers or anything! He turned to the women behind the counter and asked: "I'm guessing the tax service does not do mail?" He then walked out the door to the men before they drove off and asked for government identification.

The woman at the counter just shook her head nervously, averting her eyes as if trying to pretend Heydrich didn't exist. Still, the answer was sufficient and the Arcadian airman went to the door, stepping out into the bright white which drove you blind if you looked too long.

He caught them just as the big man was about to get back on the snowmobile, and it was clear that that individual was only growing more nervous the longer Heydrich dogged him. When the young Arcadian confronted them his hand twitched, making a short move towards where his revolver was hidden. But then he stopped as the question was asked, still shifting uneasily.

"Yeah, yeah, here you go." Out was pulled a wallet, from which (with some struggling due to mitts) came a rather official-looking badge featuring the green dragon of Urlistan and the words Patriotic Amlug Resistance printed clearly visibly. "That enough?" he asked, moving to leave.

"Hold on." came the much quieter voice of the big man's smaller colleague, in an accent Heydrich could not place, "Who are you, child? Can we see some idenfitication?"

In news out of the Green Union today, C-Sec authorities have started reporting a large percentage of the students arrested during the University of Himmelsdorf protests failing to check in with bail officers and missing their court dates. Associates of those arrested are coming forward with stories of their loved ones being approached by suspicious individuals, some even outright wearing balaclavas and the green armbands of the ARCC. Congressional Security representatives are warning friends and family of protesters to watch out for potential rebels who may attempt to seduce the young students with promises of helping them avoid prison time or, in the case of the many foreign student protesters, deportation.

C-Sec was forced to release the vast majority of protesters on bail for little or no cost due to a lack of capacity to hold them and a continued public opposition to the arrests.

Leaked documents claimed to be from a Congressional Security investigation have surfaced which show a secretive effort to find and catch either an individual or group of individuals who have been stalking CGU congressmen. According to the documents nearly thirty congressmen, their names omitted, reported one or more instances of their homes or places they frequent being watched by a stone still, expressionless man in a turban. More reports from C-Sec in charge of the congress building itself reported a “classically terrorist” looking man sometimes popping up near or within the security perimeter, and on a few instances within the building itself where he was reported to follow lone congressmen and other leading officials before disappearing without a trace. Despite the investigation’s files going back for over a month, it appears C-Sec is no closer to catching the illusive individual(s).

The reveal of these documents has caused a stir in the Congress of the Green Union as members demand to know why they were not informed of this potential danger beforehand and why their own security forces apparently swore witnesses to silence. A mere couple hours after the leak congressman Robert Wood gave a speech to many fellow congressmen and supporters in the ballroom of Himmelsdorf’s Great Republic Hotel, calling once again for the CGU to permit private security inside the congress building for the protection of their bosses. C-Sec has shown itself to be incapable, Wood says, and this is the only way to keep the leaders of the Green Union safe.

Wood’s proposition has been floating around Congress for some time, never garnering much support save among “Les Bleus”, a pseudo-party of like-minded congressmen with Robert Wood as a prominent figure. Individual parties distinct from President Turner’s ruling Reformist Party are not currently permitted in the Green Union, and Les Bleus get their name from the blue ties Wood is fond of and which have been emulated by many of his followers.

C-Sec has written off this “leak” of documents as an elaborate hoax, and denies having ever been approached with concerns about a turban-wearing stalker. However, all the documents’ codes and information check out and bear the signature of numerous high level C-Sec directors.

Himmelsdorf, Green Union

Hugo Plas

today, they were burning documents that have already been sent back to the Federation. So far they were still working on plans to find targets for the planned takeover. The documents were by the trash can that was ready to burn just in case if C-Sec found them. They have not left in recent weeks, and news on the outside has been short supply. The only reason they found out about the transition of the empire was just a single sentence long message from a tower in the LFN.

Three days prior to the attacks

WO2. Steffen Heydrich, 171st Fighter Reconnaissance Squadron, UFAF Air Force

When Steffen saw the ID, he knew he couldn't be cavalier in this situation, and needed to be cautious. When he was asked for his identification he responded: "It is in the shop." This he knew would buy him some time to think what to do from here.

Sergeant Samson Carwin

Samson was taken back, he expected the response, however, he kept his cool and continued watching her. The girl almost reminded Samson of his own daughter, whom he had not seen for months now, nearly a year. Similar age, a similar attitude and a similar opinion of him and his job. It nearly made him smile, but he hid it before it could grow. After a few seconds, Samson spoke up. "It's not your fault, Eule." Silence devoured the room for a moment. "In fact, the truth is infinitely more simple." Eule frowned not entirely understanding what he meant. "Your people died because someone wanted to kill them. No rhyme, no reason, and you survived because fate decided that would be so." Samson got up and went to a locker near her, opening it and throwing out winter clothing along with a bag of supplies. "I am a murderer, but if you've killed anyone who tried to get to your camp to hurt your people, you are too." He turned to look at her, whether she was looking her or not. "The only thing that makes a damn difference is that we do it to protect the people we love," he said calmly.

The wind crept into the room, Samson realised that his men were now staring at him from the door they were looking out, and the cold had snuck up on him during his small speech. He turned back to Aras girl, with a stern look. "The only reason why I'm doing this right now is because no one is coming to save you." The sergeant walked over to his men and opened the door, telling them something in Durranese. The two soldiers looked at Eule and then back at their commander, then went outside. Samson turned back to the girl. "You're on your own Eule, and we're all you've got... one minute, get that kit on, we're leaving, and if I don't see you, you won't see us, but you will see the C-Sec soldiers taking this mine.

Samson left, leaving the teenage girl in the cold.

Eule, Coldhand Mine, Arasland:

There was no touch, no comforting hand on the young girl’s shoulder. In fact it was now dawning on Eule that she may never have that kind of attachment again, and that thought forced her to clench her teeth harder to slow down the tears. Wait, what was she thinking? Was she seriously seeking affection in this southern soldier, who had taken her from her people and was now prepared to abandon her in the middle of a battle?

Eule held it in until Samson and his men left, then put her head in her hands and just sobbed deep, pure, heart wrenching sobs. The young girl was so tired and hungry and scared and confused, and all she wanted to do was curl up in a ball and wait for someone to carry her away. In that moment Eule could not have cared less whether it was C-Sec, Samson, or death herself who did it.

Then the crying grew painful, and Eule stopped to realize that her tears had literally frozen solid. Her face was caked in a sheet of ice, and the gloves were now stuck to her eyes.

The situation was so absurd that Eule could do nothing but laugh. It started with a chuckle, then rapidly escalated into hysterical giggling. “Holy fuck,” she gasped between breaths, “Samson, I need a hand!”

Rensulier
Rensulier Palace | Early March | Matts Fjellborg

Matts, — that is, of course, Matts Fjellborg: a businessman of the prestigious ducal Fjellborg family (and fourth cousin of Queen Elsa Ljundmark-Fjellborg), — degloved his right hand and brushed his flaxen hair aside, turning a corner. Upon seeing kin of the Queen, two young military men, of His Majesty's Life Guard, beclothed in deep blue overcoats, raised their hands in salute. Hastily afterward, the two unfastened Rensulier Palace's gate and held it open for him. He then paced through the snow-blanketed Haraldsgård, a garden which had been modeled by Harald I Håkon in 1418, and towards the stone steps.

Amid his walk to the steps, Matts happened across Karl Johann, a courtier and fellow relative of both the King and Queen, — a member of the House of Leijonhuvud. "Karl! Godt å ser dig."
"Åg jeg kan sagar sammatt. Fur vat orsakke maj jeg takker pa din besøk?" Karl returned.
Matts shook, with his ungloved hand, Karl's hand, nodding towards him: "Jeg kommer å ser Thomie, om hans Gronføreningsk prøvelser."
Karl had done likewise, nodding: "Allt godt end; ser dig senare."

Matts encountered a pair more of Life Guards atop the steps, who opened the doors to Rensulier Palace's Grand Hall for him; he, accordingly, went inside and was immediately approached by a man, — a servitor of His Majesty by the name of Frederik Andersson. Manniske Andersson decoated Fjellborg and was handed his gloves and toppluva. "Takke, Manniske."
"Varsågod."

Matts, after some ten minutes of walking, came upon one of the palace's living rooms wherein sat the King, Thomes, and Feliks, yet another distant relative of the Royal Family, and one whom Matts knew only in name. Feliks, — or, in full, Feliks Christoffer Ljundmark, — sat upon a red couch, which was undoubtedly at least a century-and-a-half old and made from material imported from some colony, beclothed in a kilt and an Argyll jacket; further, he bore an orange-blond beard which he styled into a forked beard. Besides that, Feliks stood above everyone else in the room, for he was 6'2" (the King, 6'; Thomes, 5'11"; Fjellborg, 5'10") and had grayish-blue eyes. He was truly the stereotypical Halleran Emerstarian.
"Velkommen! Fjellborg, kommer over!" Eric XII Georg announced, ecstatically.
Matts, a bit taken aback, questioned, "Vat ar situasjonett?"
"Ö, hur det være val; vi har en godt slektskap mellan Thomie åg der Aglareben," the King promptly took the glass of Halleran whiskey, — that, they could thank Feliks for, — and poured some in a glass for Matts. "Harr dig ha."
"Takke." Matts took it, sitting on a chair, across from Thomes, and drank, prodding through the pile of documents which sprawled the table.

Grünwald | Early March | Loff Holm and Henrik Ljundkvist

Loff had but one case of luggage with him, — to his right side it was. Within, its contents were merely clothes in need of being washed, for he had returned from a business trip in Kophavien (his flight from Kopmandburg had been delayed due to the mishap at Öldtenshavn), and small belongings of his such as a phone and a wallet. Loff, or Mr. Holm as some may know him, belonged to the minority of ethnic Emerstarians that persists along the coasts of southern Arasland. They're a sort of relic from the colonial days of Arasland, retaining Emerstarian Lutheranism, traditions, and language.

Loff, once outside, was met by his friend and business partner Henrik Ljundkvist with a car. As a fellow Arasian of Emerstarian descent, Henrik accordingly had on the radio an Emerstarian-language station: "Igår pa fom klockan, Kuing Eric XII Georg av Emerige, med der Hertig Ekkesburg, Thomes Lorenssen, annonseradt om Thomes's syfte å antagar der Gronførenings tronett."

A mere day or two subsequent, Loff and Henrik were again together, — in their company's office, — but now, they were with several others as well. Afront of this gathering was Loff: "Samfund å Återstaller Gronførenings Tron," Loff stated. "Hvemmer ar i?"
One of the aforementioned others then countered, "Så, ARCC? Du vilja en naborhjemsk ARCC?"
"De viljar å tanke at Wolfe være aliv, fur hvem ville lykkes ham, Deitrik?" Loff began, "de viljar ikke noenmand. De skal ser siig at Thomes ar svarett."

Rensulier Palace | Early March | Thomes Lorenssen

Thomes woke but seconds ere and barely brought himself to stand, for he had fallen asleep on the couch beside the Halleran nobleman, Feliks Ljundmark. To his front, the table upon which the document straggle had been, was now clean; neither drink nor paper cluttered it now. By and by, he awoke enough to head elsewhere, — to his bedchamber.

The Beverlen times

May 27, 2036: The Kingdom of Emerstari has declared inheritance of the throne of the Green Union in the early hours of today. The Kingdom has declared Duke Thomes Lorenssen, the rightful ruler of the throne. In Arcadia, this move has proven to be divisive amongst the newly formed federation. Many pro-monarchists have supported this including the sitting Chancellor Jule Beaulne, while others in the Republican circles have issued several letters of protest to the Emerstari government.

We interviewed people on this recent move and here is what they have had to say:

Jean-Claude Dubost has said, "I applaud this move, and this will hopefully lead to a peaceful resolution for the situation in the Green Union." He also went on to say how the recent change in government in Arcadia has worsened political tensions in the federation, and how a republican government cannot unite the people the same as a monarchy or even a constitutional monarchy.

A detractor of this move Silas Vester said "Self Determination is key to the people of the Green Union. A foreign monarchy has no right messing with the affairs in a sovereign nation."

An online poll in the Federation has shown a nearly even split on the approval of this move by the historic Arcadian ally. Around 57% of those who took part in the online poll have supported the move while 41% opposed the move and the other 6% are undecided on the move.

In a statement by the Arcadian government, Chancellor Beaulne has stated, that the Federation supports the Kingdom of Emserstari in reinstating the monarchy of the Green Union under the provision that the people of the Green Union can vote on whether to elect the monarchy into the country. She has also offered the Federations help to facilitate the vote in the Republic of Urlistan and the small diaspora of loyalists across Markion.

Arasland

1. Åg jeg kan sagar sammatt. Fur vat orsakke maj jeg takker pa din besøk?

In an extremely rare show of unanimity every single political faction with a stake in the Green Union has expressed vocal opposition to Thomes Lorenssen’s claim to the Green Union throne previously occupied by King Wolfe VI before the Vilhalan invasion of 2034. The Congress of the Green Union, predictably, accused Emerstari and Arcadia of trying to undo the GU’s liberation and transition into a free republic, and lending credibility to the dangerous rebel groups operating in the country.

The rebels, too, were far from impressed. Information spread online through ARCC and ARF channels accused foreign powers of trying to usurp the throne still only held legitimately by Wolfe VI, as his whereabouts are not known and he is still the king of the Green Union. PAR sources took this a step further, accusing Emerstari of exploiting their group’s goodwill and promise to not target Emerstarian soldiers. The PAR has said that if Thome does not revoke his claim then they will be forced to consider Emerstarian soldiers on Urlistan’s snow to be imperialist invaders no different than those of FASC.

Even the little known KJ has gotten a word out through social media to express their anger at these statist’ attempts to return the Green Union to the age of monarchy.

And, of course, the remains of the exiled Parliament of the Green Union in Placeoderms has shown no support and echoed mainstream rebel statements that Wolfe VI is the king until proven otherwise and demanded Emerstari remove its support for this pretender. The government in exile has stated its intentions to organize a boycott of any “referendum” held by the GRA, as not only would the Arcadians rig the outcome as they have done in every other so-called popular vote related to the Green Union but also because a GU Loyalist voting in such a thing would be nothing short of treason.
A confederation of three nations and their Arctic territory, currently torn apart by competing interests.
Calendôr is in the GU heartland, located along the Green River. Francophone, it is the most urban nation. Dominated by boreal forests.
Urlistan covers the west coast and mouth of the Green River. English speaking, it is a rocky country based with industry and culture based around the sea. Currently under the control of the Arcadian Empire.
Arasland is a large northern landmass dominated by rocky forests and, above the treeline, tundra. Speaking several dialects of Emerstarian and Arcadian German, and culturally dominated by small family clans.

Statement from the Regent of Urlistan

The Regency and the Congress of the Federal Republic of Urlistan denounce the Federal Republic of Emerstari in such intrusive acts on our fine sovereign nation. We would also like to issue an act of protest to the Arcadian Federation in agreeing to such terms. The Federal Republic of Urlistan was not consulted in this, and we urge you to reverse the support for emplacing a monarchy, above all a false monarchy in this blossoming republic. The Federal Republic of Urlistan will not accept any votes or referendums on instating a monarchy in this country. On this issue, the people of the late Green Union stand united against Emerstari's imperialist acts of putting an imposter on the throne.

The Green Union wrote:Eule, Coldhand Mine, Arasland:

Somewhere in Arasland
Sergeant Samson Carwin

Days went by as the group made their way through the snow, sheltering in forests and hunting occasionally to keep their food supplies up rather than waiting for them to run out. The northern land was a kingdom of ice and blizzard this time of year. Samson's men shivered with every step, the only reason they had not frozen to death being their heat suits that covered their whole body, keeping the wearer's skin from frostbite but doing little to defend against mistress winter's cold kiss. They complained to each other as if they were talking about a person they both hated, cursing and wishing they could go home. Samson, on the other hand, enjoyed the cold. Samson was the only one on the team who lived in the artic territories of the CSD. They were similar to the Green Union except for the lack of mountains and hills, nevertheless, Samson felt at home if a little bit lost. Eule seemed to know the way, Samson knew not where he was being taken and when he asked Eule would merely mutter: "A safe place". Samson did not want to leave the girl, she had lost her friends and family and was with strange men in the middle of nowhere, although she was probably the safest she'd ever been for the past few days. She rolled her eyes at the mistakes Samson's men made about surviving in this hell hole, even taking a small amount of pleasure when one of the Durranese fell in the snow or set up a trap wrong. Samson and Eule would usually tend to the business of hunting while the others set up the camps and cooking. If there was anything that the soldiers knew, they knew how to fight and cook. Each meal was hearty in addition to flavourful and went from Durranese style rations to whatever meat Samson and Eule managed to bring back. It was no gourmet experience, but it was warm and tasted of something other than spit and frost, so that was better than good.

As the journey continued, days turned into weeks. Food was stretched thin however Eule told her travelling companions there would still be enough for the remaining journey if it was rationed. Samson put a great deal of trust in the teenager that his men did not understand. Samson thought about his own daughter who he promised to go hunting with when he went back home. Setting traps with the Aras and stalking local wildlife made him think home and the broken promises he had never kept. Some nights, Samson would weep in solitary silence. The sergeant's heart was strong though, he pushed forward not letting the past contain and weaken him. But paternal issues were the least of Samson's worries. His men took him aside and asked what they were doing. Samson replied similarly to Eule, adding that once she was safe they would find the SFD operator that was there to get them out of the Green Union. While the Durranese soldiers did not like their situation they remained loyal and true, saying that they would follow their leader to whatever end but hoped that he was making the right choice. Although spirits were high, much of the SFD operator's equipment was now failing on on them. Their tactical wrist pads were busted, their HUD glasses malfunctioning and their gun's needed semi-regular touch-ups to remain operational. If they did not reach Eule's safe place soon, they would be in deep snow as well as trouble. Thankfully the heat suits were holding on but running out of power. This was Eule's home, she was in her element, although slightly cold like the rest of the men, she knew how to survive and stay warm enough from the storm of snow.

A month had passed. Eule and Samson had little luck hunting but Samson enjoyed the quiet moments they had in the wilds. Samson shared a bottle of sake with his group, he had to melt it before leaving camp and drink at a slightly faster rate than he would have normally so it did not freeze again. The group enjoyed the last of their food as Eule said that a settlement was near and that they could get supplies and transport there. That was the longest hour of the fireteam's life. It seemed not to matter how quickly they walked, nor did the "quicker paths" Eule took them on make the trek any less long. They were desperate to get somewhere warm, eat real food and get out of this hell that had frozen over.

Himmelsdorf, Green Union

Hugo Place

Word came down from command, and the time was nearing. He and his team were preparing their weapons, and gear for the upcoming operation. It looked like it would occur over the next two weeks. Anything that could be of value to C-Sec was being destroyed, and members of his team were already scouting out the targets much closer than before. In a few hours President Turner, the current head of state was going to be shot. Hugo sat in the room where they had originally brought Wood which had since been turned into the operations center. They were clearing all files from the building and were getting ready to move on a moment's call.

Hugo exited the building an hour later, and a light drizzle of snow fell from the sky. He was going to a shop right on the water that he would go over to occasionally. Hugo had been a fan of their coffee and decided to get some before everything kicked off. As he ordered his drink he was writing an email on his phone.

If the email was intercepted it would show it from a hotel in Altaguay(now apart of FASC).

To: Mr. Wood
From: Mr. Plas

Come to the Hotel el Luna, in La Caras Altaguay. Head to room 121A in three days. We need to discuss the events that will happen in the next two weeks.

When he finished the email and sent it his coffee was ready. When he arrived back in the safehouse, he looked over some groups that were going to be activated to provoke the Congress of the Green Union to attack Urlistan. Some of the groups in the west were ordered to move tonight to attack military targets and lead C-Sec to act rash in their counters to the group whether it be on the local populace or in Urlistan itself. Only three cells were activated to carry out attacks from the time being. Nothing too big but also nothing too small.

"Herr," reporter Kasja Ljund stated to her interviewee, "what is the ARCC's official stance regarding the King Wolfe VI's status as dead or alive?"
"As for Wolfe IV's status, we consider him to be alive until it is proven otherwise."
"What is your opinion on the Hertig Ekkesburg, Thomes Adulf Lorenssen?"
"We have little confidence that his tie to the old monarchs of the GU is real."
"Let's assume for a second that Wolfe is dead, how do you feel about Lorenssen then?"
"The ARCC would prefer that a Monarch of the GU be of the Green Union first; before Lorenssen, we would seek out closer relatives of Wolfe."
"All right," Ms. Ljund spoke, "what will the ARCC do?"
"The ARCC will continue to serve our King Wolfe VI until solid evidence of his death is brought forward."
"Let's assume again for a moment he is dead. If ARCC is given solid evidence of his death, what would they do?"
"A blood relative of Wolfe with a strong claim to the throne would be found to succeed him."
"Thank you for your time, Herr. It's been a pleasure."

Matts, with Thomes, then found that a Samråder, Ragnvald Pålssen, on his reelection campaign, was giving a speech regarding the topic. He was a member of a minority party in the Samråd, — the Demokratisk Gille, — so they had little concern, but they listened nonetheless. Pålssen spoke of PAR's threat to change their stance on Emerstarian personnel in Urlistan, and how Thomes should revoke his claim, for it shows he has little regard for the lives of young Emerstarian men and cares more about adding to his list of titles.

-Good evening and welcome to Theodor Karlssen Tonight. Across the world in Markion, the Duke Thomes Lorenssen's statement has created controversy. In Arcadia, Chancellor Beaulne stated, and I quote, "the Federation supports the New Federal Republic of Emerstari to reinstating the Green Union's monarchy under the provision that the Green Union's citizens may vote on whether to elect the monarchy into the nation." According to the Bevlern Times, an Arcadian newspaper who gave an online poll, 57% of participants approved of the Duke. - Good evening my fellow citizens. Emerstari's constitution says that a president must give to the Foderalkongress a report on the status of the nation. I think that it is also important for him to report to his fellow citizens on the status of their nation, for he is the only official, with the Vice-President, that is elected by all the people in Emerstari, in all seventeen states and the further territories. I, therefore, present to you tonight a report on the controversy that regards the Duke Thomes Adulf Lorenssen as it relates to the Throne of the Green Union and as it relates to our soldiers at Schuttler-Lay Army AirCorp Joint Base.

Now, the Duke Ekkesburg's motives, those which he made known only nights ago, are to sit upon the throne which is his by birth, and in that process, return to the GU peace and order. My administration shall support Lorenssen, provided the GU's citizens vote him into the Kingdom, for I believe this is the best route to restore peace and order to the GU, — in time, of course. A nation, to some extent, is like a family: a king to the GU is like a father. The father gives to a family a head; he brings stability and protection. Right now, the Green Union is like a family without a father, — their children make groups such as the ARCC or the PAR that want to restore order and provide protection. Children need not grow up too fast. If his family consentfully welcomes him, I see no reason why a father should not return.

Now, on our soldiers in Urlistan. To some, sons and daughters, and to others, husbands and wives; concern about PAR's statement is understandable. To have them leave, however, would do little besides present EMerstari as weak. Emerstari will not back down to threats of violence towards it. Now, do not misinterpret my statements, for I do not want violence. To PAR, I offer a talk on the Emerstarian aid to Urlistan and on their attitude towards the Emerstarian soldiers. That is all; I thank you very much and I wish for you a good night."

The Tower

“Is there anything else in this forsaken city besides troops, and armor?” Kerrigan growled as she watched soldiers patrol the streets from. “At this point, I agree with you, we haven’t seen any sign of the ARCC other than the body we found this morning.” Nova replied. “The city just seems so lifeless, it seems to only have three occupants, us, the ARCC, and C-Sec.” Kerrigan continued, and as if to prove her point a quick burst of gunfire echoed across the city. “Well with how ruined the city is, I’m not surprised there aren’t any civilians.” Nova said. The scale of the destruction had become clear as the sun rose, collapsed buildings, ruined streets, all cloaked in a layer of ash and snow.

“Do you think this ash is toxic, well more toxic than say regular ash?” Nova asked. “Could be, depends on-” There was a creak before Kerrigan could finish. Kerrigan and Nova slowly stood up to avoid making noise. “Did you hear that?” Nova mouthed to Kerrigan. Kerrigan slowly nodded in response, Nova slung her rifle and drew her sidearm. A match grade Five-seven, with Tritium backup sights. Nova moved carefully toward the door, trying to minimize any noise she made. Kerrigan was following closely behind, with her rifle in a low ready. They stacked up on the door, “Ready?” Nova mouthed to Kerrigan. Kerrigan nodded, Nova moved off the wall and kicked the door outward into the hall.

It was not even halfway open before a thunderous response reached out to great it. A dozen or so holes appeared, showering the other side with splinters. “Fuck!” Kerrigan exclaimed as wooden shrapnel peppered her. “Are you good?” Nova exclaimed. “Yeah.” Kerrigan growled in response as she leaned into the hallway and let off half a dozen rounds in response. Another set of holes appeared in the door, Kerrigan wary of what happened last time, had covered her face with her arm. This time though Kerrigan took notice that the new holes in the door were appearing simultaneously. “I think they have a shotgun.” Kerrigan said. Almost as if to emphasize that point, another spray of buckshot came through the door and impacted the door frame and outer drywall.

“Damn, that was close!” Kerrigan exclaimed, and stepped away from the wall. Nova looked out into the hall again and noticed the opposite door was slightly off its hinges. Nova turned to Kerrigan in a hushed voice said: “I’m going to cross and try to get an angle on the shooter.” “Okay, I’ll cover” Kerrigan replied. “Ready?” Nova asked. “Ready.” Kerrigan Answered. Nova dashed across the hallway and slammed into the door. Its hinges quickly gave way with a sharp crack, and the door collapsed inward. Nova entered the room scanning with her pistol as she did so, as she scanned the room, she took notice of its dilapidated interior. On the left wall, there was a hole in the drywall that led to the next room. Nova pulled down her headset’s microphone, “There is a passage into the next room” Nova said. “Alright, I’m coming across” Kerrigan replied. Kerrigan quickly dashed across the hallway.

When Kerrigan entered, she too took notice of the hole in the wall, “Why the hell is that there.” Kerrigan thought. Kerrigan turned to Nova “I have a plan; you see where that hole leads, while I keep their attention.” she said. “Alright let’s do it.” Nova replied. Nova holstered her pistol and unslung her rifle. Nova moved toward the hole and after checking that it was clear on the other side, crossed the threshold.

She quickly looked around the room, before moving to the opposite wall where yet another man-sized hole was carved. As she was stepping into the next room a thought entered her head, “I wonder what happened to the people living here.”. She noticed that there were some picture frames on the floor, their glass broken and their pictures long faded by the elements. She heard a muffled shotgun blast from beyond the door, as she was moving across the room. As she reached the opposite wall, “Almost there.” she thought.

After crossing the last wall, she slowly crept towards the door. As she was moving toward the door Nova whispered into her headset, “Kerrigan hold your fire.” Nova said. “Copy.” Kerrigan replied. Nova slowly pushed the door open. As she stepped into the hallway and pushed the door back into place, she could see the shooter. Only a short distance away he stood, clad in a long green coat with a black trapper hat.

“I’ve got you now.” she thought as she brought her rifle up and began to slowly walk toward him. He was slowly reloading now, and favoring his left arm over his right. Just a few feet behind him. Nova unslung her rifle, and with the limited swinging space she had, drove the butt of her M39 rifle into the small of his back. With a shout and a thud, he hit the floor. He tried to roll over and face her, but she hit him again with the rifle. “Reste immobile ou meurs!” she barked and shoved the barrel of her rifle into his face. Nova cued her headset, “Kerrigan come and help me with this bastard.”.

The Kitchen, a few minutes later

“Hold still dammit” Nova barked, as she dabbed Kerrigan’s face with gauze, and occasionally stopping to pick out splinters. “You just had to stand in front of the door didn’t you.” Nova said sarcastically. “Yea I guess I just had to.” Kerrigan said with a smirk.

“So, what are going to do with him?” Kerrigan said, gesturing to the prisoner. “Preferably get some answers out of him, and then go from there.” Nova replied. Kerrigan hopped down from the counter she was sitting on. Together they walked over to the prisoner, with Nova grabbing a chair along the way. Kerrigan walked around behind the prisoner and undid his blindfold and gag. As soon as the gag left his mouth, he was back to screaming and yelling in French. “Oh, will you shut the hell up! You are giving me a headache. “ Kerrigan yelled.

Nova walked over and placed her pistol to his temple, “Hush, now tell me where are the rebels?” she asked. His face went white with fear, “Which rebels do you mean, there are many different groups?” he answered. “The rebels who wear the green armbands, the ARCC.” Nova replied. “Oh them, I hoped you would ask about them.” he said. “And why is that?” Nova asked. “Because it’s about time that someone taught them a lesson, that’s why you’re here isn’t it?” He asked. “Unfortunately, no we just want to have a chat with them.” She answered.

“Oh, that’s a shame. The last time some foreigners came looking for them It didn’t end well for them.” he said. “What makes you say that?” she asked. “Well I wasn’t there personally, but those who were there said they got into a firefight with some foreigners. They think they were Arcadians, then the Green’s showed up, your ARCC. Demanding the surrender of everyone Involved, of course, a few of our guys resisted and were shot for their trouble. Then they dragged the foreigners off to their base, where they did who knows what with them.” he said. “So, this base of theirs. Do you know where it is?” she asked.

Sometime later

“This looks like the place, here help me with the cover.” Nova said. After a bit of grunting and groaning, they were able to get the frozen manhole cover off. “Alright, ladies first.” Nova said sarcastically. Kerrigan flipped her off in response, “It’s the usual position.” She said sarcastically Kerrigan began to descend into the unknown, while Nova covered. “Alright it's clear, come down.” Kerrigan called out. Nova moved to the ladder and began to descend. “I do hope he isn’t right about the ARCC, and I get to see my home and sister again.” She thought as she descended the ladder.

As she reached the bottom, she could barely see what was Infront of her. “Kerrigan?” she called out. “I’m here” Kerrigan replied, and startled Nova by turning on the flashlight on her helmet. Revealing her standing only a few feet away and causing Nova to shield her eyes. “Can you not shine that f**king thing in my face, please?” Nova exclaimed. Kerrigan chuckled in response, “Come on let’s get this over with and get out of this hellhole.” Kerrigan said. She turned and began to walk down the now illuminated tunnel, Nova hesitated for a moment and then began to follow.

RASS Rapière, Green River

Captain Brooke Christensen watched from the port bridge wing as her sailors chipped away at the thick ice covering the deck with shovels and sledgehammers. “I do not envy them” Just then a gust of arctic wind blew in, piercing her thick coat and sending shivers down her spine. “Okay, that’s enough of that, time to go inside. I do need to return this coat when we get back, -30 Celsius rating my ass!”

Entering the bridge, she called out for her radio operator, “Contact Blackfyre, Monsoon, Thunder, Thunderbolt, and Typhoon, tell them we will proceed to Mont-Coulon at best possible speed while rest of the task force holds position around Guard Island.” she said. “Yes, Captain” he responded. “Helmsman steady as she goes, ahead standard.” Christensen called out. “Yes, Captain” the helmsman responded. The hum of the engines increased as the Rapière led the convoy into The Green River proper.

Green Union
Fyrland
Ekhavn | Evening | Loff Holm and Henrik Ljundkvist

"Thank you," Loff spoke unto the waitress, who had set upon the table an appetizer: gravlaks on toasted rye with chive seeds sprinkled atop. "May I get another Ondelg as well?" he added, then turning his attention towards his three compeers, — two whereof sat across from him and one aside of him. The one beside him, to his right (Loff had sat on the inner cushion of a booth), Henrik, was his business partner and friend. Of the others, afront of Loff, was Nathanael Persson, and afront of Henrik, was Valter Erikssøn. Nathanael, a newspaper editor, and Valter, a former Volksguardman, had congregated with Loff and Henrik, upon request of Loff, so as to discuss support of Thomes Lorenssen. With Loff's second Ondelg, came their entrées as well: walleye with potatoes for Loff; flæskkorv with rotmos for Henrik and Nathanael; and gubbrøra with vörtbrod for Valter. Their waitress soon enough gave unto them their bill, whereupon Loff again requested an Ondelg.
"You mustn't be gluttonous, Loff," countered Henrik in jest, — to some extent.
"Nor squiffy," concurred Nathanael.
"Yes... Well shall we conclude business or would you prefer I seek a pastor first?"
"I merely fear that under the influence, you may make some regrettable decisions: supporting a Republican Green Union as an example," Henrik quipped.
"Quite so. I ponder if the Arcadians were when they replaced their King. Joking aside, I believe our gathering this day was fruitful. Do you not?"
"Oh, they were most definitely, but I agree; I see the beginning of a most beneficial relationship, Mr. Holm," Valter stated, getting up from the booth.
"And you, Mr. Persson?" Henrik inquired, doing likewise.
"I should say I am supportive, and you have been convincing, but I still must ask, why Thomes? He isn't herefrom the Green Union?"
As Valter and Henrik did, Loff stood up from the booth: "I apologize for such a frank response, do not interpret me with pique, but whom beside Thomes would you seek? I do not know of any contender from the Green Union?"
"I... suppose so. Thank you for the dinner, but I must bid you adieu." Therefrom, each man shook each others' hand, bade one another farewell, and betook themselves from the restaurant.

In Emerstari, both King Eric XII Georg and President Georg Lukas Johannssen have supported Duke Thomes Lorenssens's claim for the throne of the Green Union whereas many groups in the GU have expressed opposition to Lorenssen. A new group within the formerly Emerstarian province of Fyrland has expressed support of Lorenssen. We interviewed one of the founders of this group, — the Association for the Enthronement of Thomes Lorenssen (AETL), — Loff Hasse Holm, and here is what he said:

If you support Duke Lorenssen's claim to the throne of the Green Union, do you believe that King Wolfe VI is dead?
"I don't know if he is dead or alive, but I know that he isn't here to govern us; we have neither a King nor even a regent."

So you believe then that Duke Lorenssen should act as regent?
"Should Wolfe VI return, the throne was rightfully his, but as of now, none besides Thomes have offered themselves as Monarch, and he is a distant relative of King Wolfe."

Some believe that Lorenssen will act in the interests of Emerstari and not those of the Green Union? How do you respond?
"I am confident that as King or Regent of the Green Union, he will put the interests of the GU first and foremost. But of course, it is not as if Emerstari and the Green Union have had poor relations."

What does AETL intend to do?
"Well, in the immediate future, we're planning a rally for the coming weeks to take place in Ekhavn."

The CGU was rolling out the red carpet, so to say, for the foreign aid ships. Mont Coulon district representatives, major community representatives, and dozens of different Markion news crews were gathered around the revitalized areas of the city’s harbour to watch as these ships came in. Many a government official was eager to pose in front of these Altosian and Stratisian freighters, who’s arrival had been greatly emphasised, and indeed dozens of speeches were scheduled to occur over the coming hours.

And that was what happened. Despite the debilitating cold, the convention went on and on, while media tried obsessively to get the best shot of the Altos and Stratis flag flying or schedule an interview with leading officials from the convoy. The Congress of the Green Union, in a period where one ally after another had turned against them, wanted to make the most out of the PR opportunity presented by Altos and Stratis’ show of support, and every local official concerned with the Mont Coulon situation wanted to be associated with this humanitarian success.

There was one group which was conspicuously absent from the hoopla, however. The CGU’s Congressional Security, despite being engaged in fierce counterinsurgency just a few blocks inland, had almost no uniformed personnel visible, and those kept a great distance from the cameras. Not a single C-Sec spokesperson made an address that day.

And all the while, the shattered high rises of Mont Coulon loomed. The occasional distant shot, though deafened by the hubbub and playing of loud music, served as a reminder to the wary that this was, indeed, still the Green Union.

Congressional Security has today seized control of the main building of The Ekhavn Post, arresting reporters and management of the small news company as part of what they are calling a broad deradicalization campaign in Fyrland.

According to C-Sec spokespeople, this raid was only partially sparked by a pro-insurgent article recently run by the paper, and is actually part of a measured military and civilian effort to combat what the government has noted to be rising dangerous extremism in the Arasland province of Fyrland. While the people of Fyrland are almost all good and decent people, some have, in recent months, become nostalgic for the period of Emerstarian colonial rule which predated their province’s entry into Arasland, associating it with the time before the Green Union’s Communist tyranny, and forgetting the collectivist tendencies of modern Emerstari.

Encouraged by one Mr. Lorenssen and his silly claim to the throne of the Green Union (which has been abolished and holds no weight), these extremists, who recently announced their presence as the so-called Association for the Enthronement of Thomes Lorenssen, pose a substantial threat to the freedom and stability of the new republic in the Green Union.

Citizens of the town of Ekhavn have noted a massively increased C-Sec presence, with armed security soldiers in their safety vests patrolling major streets and public areas. The purpose of this, according to the organization, is to ensure the safety of the local population and deter further dangerous activities by extremists.

In other news, Robert Wood, a congressman and rising star within the CGU, has today left on a vacation to Altaguay to little fanfare. Addressing the mere couple of inquisitive reporters who noticed his departure, Wood, who spent most of his professional life running various companies in Arcadia, said the trip was for his health, to counteract negative effects of this long winter.

Apologies are in order for this long absence. Over the last few months I had doubts about whether this roleplay even ought to go on, given a slew of new developments in Markion IC-wise as well as OOC, not to mention a whole extra layer of confusion in my own real life. I was very close to simply cutting to a dice roll conclusion for the war, and then proceeding to work with players one-on-one to finish up character stories.

As it is, though, this shall be continuing. The first stage of the RP, that being this smoldering insurgency, is coming to its end, and there are a few loose ends to tie up before transitioning to the larger stage of war and, perhaps, regime change. The major items on this agenda are:

- A&S' sets of characters in Mont Coulon, which will take the most time
- GRA's Heydrich story
- CSD's Eule story
- GRA's Wood story

All the while, there should be a few more bits about various bits of insurgency and setup for the real war to start.

Green Union
Fyrland
Ekhavn | Afternoon | Loff Holm

Loff walked out of his place of work onto the sidewalk, whereby was a taxi waiting for him. Upon entering it and finding his seat, he spoke unto the chauffeur, "Oiwa?" Oiwa, thereafter, turned her head slightly, only revealing her face's side: a long scar stretched from the side of her mouth up to her ear, — that was damaged as well.
"Where to, sir?" Her tone was flat and her voice was low with a slight rasp.
"Ekland Park," responded Loff.
Oiwa faced forward, beginning to drive; after a few seconds of silence, she replied to him finally, "You know my name, so I assume you're Loff?"
"Yes," Loff nodded.
"I represent a group of like-minded people who want Thomes to assume the throne of the Green Union."
"As do I, I'm sure you know, but yes: Loff Hasse Holm. Your group?"
They reached a stop at an intersection, and Oiwa looked back at him: "The Unification Front; although, we like to remain partially anonymous. C-Sec saw to your editor, and we'd rather not have the same problem you see."
"Our editor and then some; I understand, though. Was there anything in particular that you had wanted to discuss with me?"
"My people, or rather the people of the Green Union, want the Confederacy reformed: three nations, one union. They want the restored, and Thomes is the only one alive with a legitimate claim." The car slowed, stopping outside of Loff's destination.
She took her hat off, revealing a shaven head, looking only forward; she began, "We need to show the people that Thomes is their only option; Greenies are stubborn folk, so it will take a lot."
"Precisely. What does the Unification Front plan? I and my associates are organizing an upcoming rally if they would like to partake?"
"The rally: announce to the world you are going forward with it. Do not, however, show up; we will do with the rest.
"Would it not seem like a bit of a sign of cowardice for AETL leadership not to attend their own event?"
"It is likely C-Sec will be waiting, and we will deal with them. You would all simply be arrested; from within, my people will show the true underbelly of C-Sec, and expose them for the terrible people they are."
"Okay, okay... Well, thank you," Loff told Oiwa, getting out of the vehicle.

Green Union
Fyrland
Ekhavn | Afternoon | United Front

On an Ekhavn street, members of the United Front had assembled for the rally; fifty or so were there. Just as soon as they had gathered, C-Sec confronted them. Amidst the confusion, one of the United Front members fell dead, having provoked a C-Sec officer, and before the crowd dispersed, two found themselves arrested.

One lay dead and two are arrested after a rally in support of the Duke Ekkesburg occurred in Ekhavn, Fyrland this week. Fifty-three attended the rally, staged by the Association for the Enthronement of Thomes Lorenssen (AETL), and were immediately met with backlash from C-Sec. There have been statements from the Green Union yet, but in a recent interview, Duke Lorenssen has opined of it.

Your Grace, events in Fyrland have escalated quickly, and one has died in your name. What have you to say?
"It besaddens me that it comes to a point whereat people are dying. I would not ask of those who support me to die, nor would I hope for those that are against me to die."

Secondly then, as you may be aware, Duke, the government of the Green Union raided the building of a newspaper that released an article in support of you. Do you think this will affect your support movements?
"You might tape the mouth, cover the ears, and even blind the eyes, but nothing short of a bullet will quell the mind. Are we to believe that simply halting production of a newspaper will stop the spreading of ideas?"

Finally, Your Grace, I think it is a topic on many minds: Should you ascend to the throne of the Green Union, would you stand with the current government or will the exiled government be able to come home?
"Should I ascend to the throne of the Green Union, I would accept the government of Wolfe IV back into the nation. As for the current government in power, I would have those directly involved with the murder of Wolfe VI put on trial for treason, but I would hope that Green Unioners everywhere could put their differences aside and rebuild their nation."

Today the Empires famed aircraft manufacturer SG has announced plans of opening a helicopter factory in the Green Union. The company is looking to add factory workers, developmental and engineering staff along with many more positions. They will also be putting a grant towards engineering colleges around the nation to help more people go to university throughout the nation and get a education. The factory will be building everything from advanced civilian helicopters to highly advanced Military helicopters. Production of the factory will start in Mount Coulon later this month after contractors are hired and security is put in place for the construction site.

I thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I would like to offer the support of the Imperial Army Core of Engineers to help rebuild your cities in this time of war. It would be our pleasure to assist in helping reconstruct. Along with adding more opportunity for Sevillian corporations to help boost the economy in this time of hardship.

Thank you,
President Joseph Henry.

The Congress of the Green Union has respectfully declined Sevevill’s generous offer for imperial military personnel in the Green Union. The government of the troubled country has stated that its own Congressional Security personnel and private industry efforts are more than capable of handling reconstruction at present.

On the other hand, the CGU and municipal government of Mont Coulon have both responded positively to SG Aerodynamics’ moves to expand operations in the Green Union. Elements within the country’s government used the announcement to explain how the GU is still an attractive place for foreign business, while the mayor of Mont Coulon has lauded it as “yet another well executed step in our plan for rebuilding our city.”
