The Great Nordic Union is made up of four states and most members refer to their state of origin as their Demonym. For those from the main ruling state of Sverige, they call themselves Svenska. Those from the state of Norge, call themselves norrmäns. Those from the state of Finlyandiya call themselves Finlyandiyains. Those from the state of Estland, call themselves Esternans. As for the collective empire, they call themselves Nords.

Economy: Nordic control over the Balticum is the souce for much of it's riches as well was the many untapped minerals in the north. There is even rumored that black gold is just of the coast of the state of Norge.

The Great Nordic Union is most famed for its armed forces. They number 300,000 in peacetime but have grown to nearly half a million in times of total war. The armed forces draw levy from the four states and attempt to be as equal between the states in numbers and requirements though in times of war this does not often happen and states nearest or most populous and rich have to pay more levy then others.

The army is small due to the Nordic Unions small population but they make it up by being one of the most elite and aggressive soldiers on the planet. The soldiers are one of the few in Numina to still carry sabers and swords. Their main strategy is to close the distance between them and their foes in an extremely aggressive manner. They often take heavy losses during the charge but if they manage to reach their foes lines they will butcher through them like a knife to meat. They often use war cries and even sometimes march calmly into fire to break their foes.

But what truly makes the Nordic army stand out is their most elite unit, the Caroleans. The name of the Caroleans came from the grand Emperor himself who founded the unit just before the Great Northern War. They are taken from families at the age of 12 and train for 8 years. They are personally led by the Emperor. They are often the first to mobilize due to their centralized command and the fact that their soldiers never demobilize unless in times of extreme peace and prosperity. Strict discipline was necessary for the Caroleans to be able to use its highly offensive tactics. One of the more unique parts of the Carolean elite unit is the fact that their cavalry is entirely made up of elves.

Religion played a significant role in maintaining discipline and keeping morale high among the Caroleans. Priests preached with patriotic fervor the virtues of serving the crown and being a soldier, in an effort to boost enlistment. Priests often personally participated in battles to raise morale and preached that soldiers fought for the common beliefs of the Svenska church. This also reminded Caroleans that they had God's protection and assistance in battle, a notion originating when fought in the first Sverige crusade against the Muscovite Rusi Empire. After the Battle of Avrna, where a massive blizzard obscured the advance of a thousand Caroleans toward Muscovite fortifications, many soldiers believed that God had sent the blizzard that led to their victory as a punishment for their enemies' sins and hubris. To boost morale, men from the same region or province of the kingdom were kept together and fought beside each other. The steadfast courage showed by the Caroleans adversely affected enemy morale and, on several occasions, frightened the enemy into retreat. To achieve tactical superiority and in order not to waste ammunition, attacking soldiers exposed to medium-distance enemy fire had to resist responding until close to the enemy. The army had stringent rules to attain this discipline, many of which constrained a soldier's private life. For example, members of the Carolean army received constant supervision at their barracks as well as in the field. Stealing food from another soldier would lead to harsh punishment. Looting, previously a part of the soldiers' everyday activities, was forbidden; however, it occasionally occurred. To take God's name in vain was among the worst crimes a Carolean soldier could commit, and the punishment for this was death because it was vital to keep morale high among the troops, and the Stocksinki religion was used as a way to do this. Interrupting a moment of prayer would also lead to the death penalty.

Soldiers were told not to be afraid of battle or to be fearful on the field; since if God meant for them to die, death would happen regardless of whether they dodged bullets or not. This rationale was crucial to the offensive tactics of the Carolean army, which required firm discipline to succeed.

Nation History:

The Great Nordic Empire was not founded in an instant but rather over the process of a decade. Before that decade there existed the four states with the Sverige holding influence all over them. It was more a loose confederation at the time rather than the Empire we know now. However, a new power had arisen in the south-east. The Kingdom of Muscovite Rusi had conquered much of the untamed Ruthenia lands and turned their eyes to the Balticum sea which the four states held absolute power over it. If the Muscovite Rusi could gain ports in that sea they would be able to gain a proper warm water port that would gain a major amount of trade to their Kingdoms. Upon the death of Charles XI of Sverige and the weakening the confederation the Rusi attempted to claim the throne providing a very distant relative. Charles had a direct heir, our greatest Emperor Carolus, but he was only 19 and the Rusi took this as an insult and declared war. Taking advantage of the chaos our old foe, the Dania, declared war on us as well.

But the vigor of youth Carolus counterattacked the Dania first as the Rusi would take months to mobilize. It was here that the most famous Caroleans proved themselves during the naval invasion of the Dania capital of Hafnia in 1897. The king was on the first boat that landed and after a grueling battle, the Caroleans managed to secure a beachhead and actually encircle most of the Dania capital defense force in the town of Naples before they could retreat to the capital proper. With most of the defense forces destroyed, King Carolus marched into the capital without much resistance.

With the fall of their capital, the Dania surrendered rapidly. Moving quickly, King Carolus gathered his armies and launched a massive offensive against the Rusi that eventually culminated in the Battle of Avrna where a massive blizzard masked the advanced of the Caroleans upon the fortress that protected the advance on the city. Nearly 300,000 Rusi soldiers died and only 12,000 Nordic soldiers died. There was panic and chaos, Rusi soldiers began killing foreign officers and de Croy, leader of the defense of Avrna, with his staff hurried to surrender. Masses of panicking Rusi troops rushed to the only Kamperholm Bridge over the Narova River, located at the northern edge of the defensive line. At one crucial point, the bridge collapsed under retreating Rusi troops and trapped the rest on the wrong side.

The trapped soldiers were then forced to retreat over the frozen lake of Lozada where King Carolus had his cannon battery break the ice causing thousands to drown and had his mounted Caroleans run down the survivors. Here the Rusi Empire was forced to surrender and cede some borderlands and cede their claim to the throne. With the Sverige having saved the confederation the rulers recognized that they must properly unite into an Empire if they were to survive against the Rusi. Two years after the war and at the dawn of a new century, King Carolus became Emperor Carolus.

But the Rusi returned in 1902. In a brutal four years long war that claimed nearly a million of both sides the fate of the Empires hinged on a single city. Poltava. It was vital for the Caroleans to hold the city as it was a major transportation and if the Rusi captured it they would be able to strike into the heart of the fatherland. Carolus was forced to ride ahead of the main army with his elite Carolean units to occupy the city first before the Rusi was upon them. What made this Carolean unit unique though was the fact that it had a large number of Elvish cavalry and sharpshooters. The battle that ensued lasted for a brutal five days and Emperor Carolus was nearly killed at a bullet deflected off his temple, knocking him out. This was when the battle was most desperate but an Elvish sharpshooter killed the commander of the Rusi forces attacking the city and the Rusi army became disorganized. This was when Carolus awoke and with the main army beginning to arrive lead a counterattack. However, he had to destroy all Rusi forces because otherwise they could just return and he doubted that the next commander would be as incompetent as this one. As the Rusi armies retreated Carolus sent all his Elvish cavalry to cut them off the gates of eternity, a massive mountain pass that separated the Nord from the Rusi. They were forced to hold unnumbered 70:1 against the Rusi forces but they held for three days giving Carolus the chance to smash the Rusi army between hammer and anvil. Over 500,000 Rusi were Killed, Wounded, captured, or missing after the battle of Eternity ended. But the Elvish cavalry had paid dearly where 5,000 had left Poltava only 700 had remained. What happened next would be remembered for eternity. As the ragged Elvish cavalry limped towards the army Carolus rode forth to welcome the survivors and cried to them: "I proclaim you my bravest cavalry!"

With such a defeat the Rusi were forced to entirely capitulated and cede the vassal states of Ucraina and Lituania. These Vassal states serve as a buffer between the Empire and the savages that are the Rusi. To top it all off a large part of Rusi broke away and was annexed by that Kingdom of Taurica. It seems as if Rusi is no longer a threat. Now we are in a golden age that the Emperor is proud to have brought. We have had peace and prosperity for two years and we stand to have it for a hundred years.

Description of Nation:

The Great Nordic Union is a massive empire in the north of Numina but is sparsely populated. The Great Nordic Union is made up of five major states: Sverige, Norge, Finlyandiya, and Estland. They also possess the two vassal states of Ucraina and Lituania. Ucraina is a major farming state with extremely fertile soil and the great Danuvius cutting the nation in half. The state Lituania are great plains where the horses reside. The four states are ruled over by the main state of Sverige, the fatherland. The Empire controls most of the Balticum and therefore has a near total monopoly on it. Their control over the Balticum sea has drawn much jealousy from the other empires of Numina. They come by many names: The Great Northern Empire, The Lion of the north, the empire of frost, the empire of Carolus and so on.

How you fit into the world: Basically the Swedish Empire in our world but it won the Great Northern War.

Personality:

Clarcia is constantly tense for her years the elite Carolean calvary and the discipline that was engraved in her in that time. She is strictly regimental, keeping her quarters and clothes constantly clean and in order. She looks down at those that do not follow the Carolean code even if they are not Caroleans. Some might even call her uptight and condensing at times. But after the Great Northern war and her time at the battle of the eternity gate, she has loosened up a bit. She's less snappy and more laid back these days but makes no mistake she is still extremely regimented.

Claricia is also religious, following the Stocksinki religion's doctrine of dedication to country and Emperor. She still does drink a lot and fools around but she will stop at nothing to protect the kingdom and fatherland.

Bio

Born in 1885 in the capital of Stocksinki, Clarcia was among those chosen at an early age to join the famed Caroleans when she was only 12. She was thought the ways and code of the Caroleans. She was thought about the honor she had been given to be chosen to be trained as a Carolean. She was thought about the ways of the church, the Lord, and the fatherland. She was shown and mastered the art of the saber and pike. She learned how to march to her foes fire without blinking. She was assigned to the 55th Calvary Division when the great northern war began. She fought in the second battle of Avrna, survived the siege of Ironforge, fought side by side with the Emperor at the battle of Fredrikshald, the Battle of Poltava, and finally at the battle of the Eternity gate.

Her unit was forced to endure onslaught by onslaught by the Rusi troops who they were blocking the past from. The Rusi fought furcisouly for they were desperate to escape the Emperor's oncoming army and return to the motherland. The 55th Calvary held for three days. On the final day, they had to survive a massive and desperate push by the Rusi. Clarcia herself was shot multiple times during the battles and barely survived a duel with the infamous Rusi Kossacks. There she earned her scar on her nose and a permanent limp in her right knee. Despite this, however, the 55th held strong until the Emperor arrived with his forces. The 55th was the anvil and the Emperor's forces were the hammer. 500,000 Rusi forces were killed, captured, or missing that day. But the 55th paid dearly for only one out of seven members survived the horrific battle. She was lucky to be among them. She personally saw the Emperor ride out, even though the battle was not yet over, and cried out to her and her unit: "I proclaim you my bravest cavalry!"

Clarcia was unable to see the final battles of the war as she was still wounded from the Battle of the Eternity gate but she received the honor to ride amongst the 55th in the victory parade at Stocksinki. A year after the great northern war had ended the Emperor declared that the Caroleans had secured peace of the Empire and were now demobilized. Clarcia found herself with significent coin from her pay that the army had owed her. She has now decided to take a vacation in the city of Lumina.

Description of Group: KFC is a restaurant centered around serving food from southern Kellibrisia, gaining its name from the region of Karolina. All of its employees are humans from southern Kellibrisia, or were born in Lumina but have recent ancestry from the region. It acts as a foreign restaurant but also as a place for southern Kellibrisians, an obscure group internationally, to gather. Though most folks who gather there are just drunkards.
Relationship with other Groups: They give other groups quality tasting food
How you fit into the world: KFC acts as a well-known restaurant within Lumina, giving people a place to hang out. They serve food and alcohol, and a lot of people seem to gather there at later hours to get drunk. KFC isn't any sort of ancient, powerful society, but they make themselves known just by serving finger-licking good food.

Born 28 years ago, Nathan lived a good life, he was taught good morals by his parents, when he was 4, his mother Christina took him to the kinotropes, there they watched The Shadow Baron. the story of a baron who rose to great heights by mastering court intrigue, it is unknown if the movie was based on a real person or is based on a book, to Nathan, but this may have been his first experience with the technology due to the screen being a kinotrope, it truly was a marvel of technology. ever since then when he has gone to the movies, he's been fascinated by the intricacies of the machine, this movie was also the his favorite moment with his mother. when he was 5, his mother would give birth to a baby boy, whom they would name Eric. Eric would be a sickly child and would take up most of his parents Richard and Christina Blake's attention. this would cause Nathan love for Eric, which was displayed a whole lot when he was 5, to sour and turn Eric into the person who would take the brunt of Nathan's frustration. this would last until Nathan turned 7 and Eric 2, around this time the amount of illness, Eric would get reduced greatly which would even out the attention given to Nathan and Eric.

Around the Age of 8, Nathan's father, Richard came into a great deal of money from an investment a few years back gone right. this allowed him to enroll his sons into The Lumina Academy. while Nathan needed to catch up a fair bit, by the end of the year, Nathan was Excelling in Mathematics and Science. this surprised his parents and was key in forming Nathan's focus on engineering, the one class that Nathan excelled in but didn't surprise his parents and that was English, which Nathan always did well in, this would inspire his love of reading. Eric would at the age of 5, attend the Academy after being in preschool there for a year. Eric would excel in mathematics over the coming years

at the age of 10, Christina would be murdered in a robbery gone wrong. she was heading back into a restaurant to tip to waiter, when a young man around the age of 24, needed money for his cocaine addiction. he walked in the store and pulled out his revolver and killed 2 waitresses and 3 civilians, one of them being Nathan's mother. this would send everyone in the Blake family into a dark spell for a long while. Richard would throw himself into his work forming a Distribution Company, Eric would become interested in his father's work and begin to excel in math due to it. Nathan would try to just make it through day by day. it would be nearly two years before this dark spell would be lifted.

When Nathan turned 12, he would begin reading books again, during this time he would pay attention to the politics of Lumina and see the imperialism in the world, he also began to admire what Vim had done for the world. his father would finally found his company, and would 'employ' Nathan to help him with it. over the period of 3 years, Nathan would gain the hang of being an Entrepreneur, but he wouldn't excel at it due to the fact that over the dark spell his grades in Mathematics would suffer. his Brother would due to his excellence in Mathematics, would excel at being a businessman. by this time when Nathan was 15, would purchase many books on the Arcane and Vim, this would grow his desire to discover the secrets and limits of Vim. at the age of 16, his father would buy a mechanical computer, which would only strengthen Nathan love on Technology and Engineering.

At 17,He and his brother would go hunting, using skills taught to him by his father after his mother's death, Nathan would do great at this and he would teach Eric the skills as well, as he was too young to be taught how to handle a gun at the time. during this period Nathan would apply to go to the Lumina Institute of Vim. here he would meet his future best friend Arthur Hargrave. Arthur would inspire in Nathan to do something great, and the two began to hang out more and more, after hitting on several girls one night at a local bar, Nathan would sit down, giving up on this endeavor, he would meet Julie, a 5'9'' brunette with a flirty and humorous personality. they would part ways but would remain friends.

after graduating at 22, the three would travel around 'adventuring' as Arthur Hargrave would say. during these years, Nathan would build his Vim gun, and study Vim and a plethora of books on Vim and the Arcane itself. during these years Nathan began to feel a slight attraction to Julie, but he would be able to get the guts to tell her. When he was 25, his father would retire and Eric would take over the company. because of this, he would return to Lumina and be given a small fortune as a gift from his brother. using this he would start Manchester Books named after his favorite Teacher at Lumina Institute. his friends would return from their adventures in time for Nathan's 26th birthday, together they would agree to form a secret society. it has been two year since and everything has been peaceful, with Eric's company expanding greatly and Nathan infatuation with Julie, one that died out when he left, would return stronger than every

Eric would be a sickly child and would take up most of his parents Richard and Christina Blake's attention. this would cause Nathan love for Eric, which was displayed a whole lot when he was 5, to sour and turn Eric into the person who would take the brunt of Nathan's frustration. this would last until Nathan turned 7 and Eric 2, around this time the amount of illness, Eric would get reduced greatly which would even out the attention given to Nathan and Eric.

Around the Age of 8, Nathan's father, Richard came into a great deal of money from an investment a few years back gone right. this allowed him to enroll his sons into The Lumina Academy. while Nathan needed to catch up a fair bit, by the end of the year, Nathan was Excelling in Mathematics and Science. this surprised his parents and was key in forming Nathan's focus on engineering, the one class that Nathan excelled in but didn't surprise his parents and that was English, which Nathan always did well in, this would inspire his love of reading. Eric would at the age of 5, attend the Academy after being in preschool there for a year. Eric would excel in mathematics over the coming years

at the age of 10, Christina would be murdered in a robbery gone wrong. she was heading back into a restaurant to tip to waiter, when a young man around the age of 24, needed money for his cocaine addiction. he walked in the store and pulled out his revolver and killed 2 waitresses and 3 civilians, one of them being Nathan's mother. this would send everyone in the Blake family into a dark spell for a long while. Richard would throw himself into his work forming a Distribution Company, Eric would become interested in his father's work and begin to excel in math due to it. Nathan would try to just make it through day by day. it would be nearly two years before this dark spell would be lifted.

When Nathan turned 12, he would begin reading books again, during this time he would pay attention to the politics of Lumina and see the imperialism in the world, he also began to admire what Vim had done for the world. his father would finally found his company, and would 'employ' Nathan to help him with it. over the period of 3 years, Nathan would gain the hang of being an Entrepreneur, but he wouldn't excel at it due to the fact that over the dark spell his grades in Mathematics would suffer. his Brother would due to his excellence in Mathematics, would excel at being a businessman. by this time when Nathan was 15, would purchase many books on the Arcane and Vim, this would grow his desire to discover the secrets and limits of Vim. at the age of 16, his father would buy a mechanical computer, which would only strengthen Nathan love on Technology and Engineering.

At 17,He and his brother would go hunting, using skills taught to him by his father after his mother's death, Nathan would do great at this and he would teach Eric the skills as well, as he was too young to be taught how to handle a gun at the time. during this period Nathan would apply to go to the Lumina Institute of Vim. here he would meet his future best friend Arthur Hargrave. Arthur would inspire in Nathan to do something great, and the two began to hang out more and more, after hitting on several girls one night at a local bar, Nathan would sit down, giving up on this endeavor, he would meet Julie, a 5'9'' brunette with a flirty and humorous personality. they would part ways but would remain friends.

after graduating at 22, the three would travel around 'adventuring' as Arthur Hargrave would say. during these years, Nathan would build his Vim gun, and study Vim and a plethora of books on Vim and the Arcane itself. during these years Nathan began to feel a slight attraction to Julie, but he would be able to get the guts to tell her. When he was 25, his father would retire and Eric would take over the company. because of this, he would return to Lumina and be given a small fortune as a gift from his brother. using this he would start Manchester Books named after his favorite Teacher at Lumina Institute. his friends would return from their adventures in time for Nathan's 26th birthday, together they would agree to form a secret society. it has been two year since and everything has been peaceful, with Eric's company expanding greatly and Nathan infatuation with Julie, one that died out when he left, would return stronger than every

Frosty relationship with the Albian government due to the nationalisation of the National Rune Council of Alba during the Aqyar War (1865-1874) and the extent to which that council’s resources were invested in military activities. During the war years, the Rune Council of Adra heavily restricted non-military runesmithing exports to the Albian Empire, much to the displeasure of the Empire’s rapidly growing entrepreneur class. The Albian council regained its independence ended soon after the war ended and the restrictions on the Albian Empire were removed soon after, but the professional disapproval and distrust remained even despite numerous current councillors being Albian citizens.
Description of Group: The Runic Council of Adra is the central authority of the Runic Disciplines, which includes the magics of runesmithing, runic combat, and some rune-Vim mixed arts, along with non-magical fields such as runic history and academics. Currently, the Council maintains great influence in the relevant markets across almost all Adrian nations, especially in those of runesmithing (the enhancement of objects and living things using runes, a magical written language of power).

The Council had its beginnings in a small fraternal society in Gallida more than four centuries before the beginning of the Vim Revolution. At the time, the society was little more than a hub for Gallidan runesmiths to discuss magic-science, a very closely related field. As one of the few old magics that retained their power from the ancient days, runesmithing enjoyed significant attention from the country’s upper class and nobility as aristocrats searched for trinkets with which to boast to their fellows and their own societies.

After the business ties of the society’s members grew closer, it evolved into a lobbying force for runesmiths and eventually other runeworkers in the area. The Gallidan nobility, unwilling to face an embargo on their supply of pretty trinkets, regularly caved to their increasing demands. In other countries, the success of the Galldian society in enriching the wealth and status of the Runic Disciplines gave rise to many similar groups across Adra, most notably in the Albian Empire, Thersmilla, and Cadia.

The various societies began amalgamating into national councils, guilds, and unions based on their country towards the end of the 15th century. These organisations began collaborating in their efforts to elevate themselves further. The merges eventually culminated in the establishment of the Runic Council of Adra in 1553. The original seven members of the international council were chosen by the national councils on the basis of runic magic merit alone, causing numerous management inefficiencies that were quickly corrected by the hiring of large swathes of administrative staff and the allowance of other factors in councillor consideration. Almost all Runic Disciplines-related organisations became subsidiaries of the continental Runic Council, although they retained significant yet varying degrees of independence.

With all of Adra’s Runic Disciplines united under a single, free-acting organisation, the Runic Council of Adra and its subsidiary national councils were free to manipulate markets and lobby Adrian governments to improve trading conditions for its members, which it has done for centuries now. In addition to the actual immense skill of Adra’s best runesmiths and fighters, the Council is partly responsible for the sky-high prices of premier-grade runesmithed goods and weapons, and the prohibitive retainers of the continent’s best runic combat specialists. However, very few disagree with the pricing. Runesmiths and members of the upper class often describe the situation in saying that such products have finally reached a value reflective of their quality.

The Runic Council of Adra Organisation, the collective portfolio of all of the Council’s holdings and subsidiaries, is also responsible for setting international accreditation standards of Runic Discipline mages and practitioners and relevant university courses across the continent, along with sponsoring and funding university programs centred on such disciplines.

The Council itself was expanded several times to reflect the growing community of master rune mages who required representation in the highest industry organisation within the Runic Disciplines. This occurred first in 1644 with an expansion to 8 councillors, second in 1697 to 9, third in 1764 to 10, fourth in 1848 to 11, and fifth in 1883 to 12. The last of these is still unofficial (see notable councillor list).

As an international organisation, the Council holds no allegiance or explicit subservience to any nation-state or other global power. Numerous statements by councillors have reinforced this in times when governments have tried to bend the Council to their will. In respect of such freedom and lack of oversight, the Council has evolved to be highly insular and massively elitist.

Relationship with Governments: Shares the same relationship that most members of the Vim Consortium shares with the government of Lumina. The company has a powerful lobbying group who can influence politicians to pass or veto certain bills, and in turn the government uses the company to produce whatever items they want or to create new jobs.

Description of Group: The Ashwood and Orlooz Consortium main office and factories are set in the city state of Lumina. However branching offices can be found in other nations like Alba, Thersmilla, Gallida, Tornith, Kellibrir, Undia, Anjin, and Zirag. It's factories are more numerous in the world. The company is separated into various department that are in truth subsidiary companies that parts making up the conglomeration. These departments are:

Department of Consumer Appliances: Alongside with retail, this department is consider the backbone of the Consortium. Making every home appliance from stoves, refrigerators, toasters, and even air conditioners. Taking advantage of new innovate  electrical powered technologies made by the electronic department, transforming these once basic utility items that have been used domestically for generations to wonderous tools of the future. Showing the public the wonders and discovering of the Vim Revolution and how it can improve their live, creating what would once be considered miracles years ago and controlling them with a few button inputs and a flip of a switch.  

Department of Electronics: Whenever one thinks of Ashwood and Orlozz Consortium chances are the devices made by this department comes to mind. Being the invisionary heart of the company's innovative reputation this company works tirelessly to bring forth the wonders of electricity yo the world. From it's humble origins of producing telegraphs this department will grow to include in producing much newer electrical devices such as incandescent light bulbs, telephones, radios, and electric generators. The electric engines in some autosaws and street cars, the power lines and wires throughout the town, and even some of the innovate generators and batteries used can trace their origin to this company. Of the newest developments of this department includes the Dolls and mechanical computers using electric power and systems. Rumors persist of the development of a machine that would replace the kinotrope

Department of News: Once a paper mill department the inventor head of the Consortium changed this department into producing news paper, giving an alternative source of information to the people of Lumina while advertising the latest products. Yet there lies a more secretive reason for the change, for this department is used to bolster the fame of the Consortium and present a positive image of the company to the public consciousness, while obfuscating any information the company which to keep away from the public. This department is even used for damage control to minimize the damage caused by scandals and incidents while combating against misinformation and rumors made and spread by rival companies. At times the government pays the A&O Consortium to help spread state propaganda and emergency.

Department of Mining: Mining was what help start the Vim Revolution on the technological front and mining still plays a vital role, it would come to no surprise that the A&O Consortium would also be involved with mining. The company mines not only Vim and magic touched minerals and metals but more natural minerals and resources, including coal. This department occasionally makes mining towns in mining sites that are of vital importance to the company and is assisted by other departments to not only transport the resources extracted but to also have them be produced into useful goods. Recently this department has come under fire due to some mines employing either mostly or entire artificial miners. The company's response to the backlash that it was to reduce the lives lost in mining but most believe it is nothing more but a cost reduction scheme.

Department of Logging: Wood has always been a useful resource in the world of Numina, having many use in all aspects of life. This truth remains even during the Vim Revolution. As the name implies this department provides the raw timber needed by modern civilization. It shares many things with the mining department. It sometimes constructs towns close to forests that are vital to its business to have workers close to their job. It needs help with other departments to transport the timber it has gathered to facilities that will turn it into finished goods. And it has been embroiled in controversy with certain groups who are against the company for chopping down large swathes of forests. Many of these groups are elves or halflings who support a more traditional lifestyle and prefer to live in harmony with nature, many of which despising the urban industrial lifestyle that many are adopting.

Department of Automobile: One of the newer departments in the Consortium. Originally it just made steam powered carriages but in recent times has moved into the newly made "automated ricksaws", (known as autosaws or rickeys to most). Most of these cars use either steam engines, electric engines, or a Vim powered engine. While these vehicles are still view as fancy toys of the rich the company is now employing jew assembly techniques and methods that would not only allow them to mass produce more autosaws cheaply but would eventually drop the price of such vehicles that even the common middle class family would be able to afford their own autosaw.

Department of Railroads: One of the logistical spines of the company, the Railroad Department not only constructs railroads for both steam locomotives and street cars to towns and cities that requests them but also for the company to transport both personnel and materials to their destinations. While the company now makes light rails for trams and trolleys in fully develop cities it still produces steam locomotives in more developing states. When not making railroads they often make trains and trams to be sold. Recent rumors have on works being to not only produced a train power by electricity and magic, but to use both magnetism and magic to hover in the air. Allegedly the designs of this train are based on ancient stories and designs of magic powered machines that acted like trains back in the days of old magic.

Department of Shipping: Originally just transporting people and goods with ships bought by other companies, the growth of the company has now allowed them to construct their own fleets of ships. Still playing the vital role of acting as an alternative means of moving goods and people around, the Shipping Department has also enter the ship construction business and at times contracts canals to create more routes for their ships. While some of the ships used have sails most are cover in iron and steel and are powered by steam engines with paddle wheels and propellers pushing them forward through water, these sail ships also having such systems on them for extra propulsion. The company also sells some of the ships they make

Department of Airship: Just like automobiles this department is also a more recent addition to the company. Just like with shipping they produce their own airships which they use mainly for moving materials around. However in more recent years some of these airships have not only been sold for aerial cruise companies but the company has even tried it's hand on the business, all though they face stiff competition in this field. The airships produced by the company is even sold to other companies and nations for various uses, even military use. In recent times aeroplanes are now being tested by this department to see if they have a future use for the company.

Department of Retail: The other back bone of the Consortium, the Retail Department is in charge of the many stores and shopping centers used by the company to sell not only produces made by the company but also products made by other parties. Everything from clothing, food, furniture, books, soap, and more luxurious items can be found like radios and ceramic plates and pottery. This department takes advantage of the rising consumerist culture and works hard to ensure that they have every possible items their customs would want while making the shopping experience a comfortable one to make shoppers return back to their stores.

Department of Textiles: Being on of the first businesses to enjoy the mechanical benefits of the Vim Revolution, it would come to no surprise that textiles would also be a business the company enters. Using both the hand power machines that were made to industrialize textile industries along with more automated machines to make produce more clothing, this department also uses the latest developments in both chemistry and Vim alchemy to produce new cosmetic dyes to give their clothing vibrant colors that would be hard to produce with natural resources. Carpets and blankets are also produced by this department.

Department of Arms: One of the more secretive and some say controversial department. The Arms department develops the many weapons and tools modern soldiers use. From the firearms and explosives used by front line infantry, the machine guns and artillery cannons used by the rear forces. They even produced mechanical computers used by modern military forces. Armoured and armed trains, warships of both the naval and airships variety, and even war automatons. The company even has numerous secret weapons projections in development, producing endless mysteries and conspiracy theories on what they are working on. While military forces are the most common customers for this department they do have a strong buyer base from private military industries and hunter communities.

Department of Heavy Industries: With mining and railroad playing a vital role it would come as to no surprise that a department dedicated to heavy industries would be made. Along with assisting departments that relate to heavy industries, this departments also creates iron and steel used by the other departments or sells them and heavy equipment and machine tools to be used in building constructions and in factories. The Department of Heavy Industries is used whenever the Consortium is given a contract to product large infrastructure project. Like with mining and logging it too has come under fire from environmental groups due to pollution caused by their factories.

Department of Magic and Vim: A department close to one of the company's CEO as before making the company Alexandria was a famous mage who made many breakthroughs in modern magic. This department not only continues her research into magic and magical based technologies but combined them with research into Vim. The secrecy of this department of comparable to the one the Arms Department has, as Alex does not wish to have rival mages knowing her secrets. The Magic and Vim department both engage in theoretical research in both fields but also try to apply practical applications into both fields to garner more support to both magic and vim. Many exotic wonders are created in this department. From magical computers and dolls, to chimeras and enchanted plant life, to infusions and crafted body parts, and even Vim powered  prosthetics and implants. The Magic and Vim Department is always looking to find bright mages and scientists who are willing to push what is possible and who do not care for being viewed as mad geniuses by the public.


Relationship with other Groups:Is in furious competition against the other companies that makes up the Vim Consortium. The relationship with other groups various from ambivalence to outright hostile depending on the goals of the group. Mainly those opposed to the Vim Revolution and magic will be seen as enemies to the Consortium's interests.

How you fit into the world: It's one of the most powerful and influential companies in the city and is a world famous company.

Deutschess Kaiserreich, I bring this up here because I'm more sure you'll see it/read it, but I wanted to mention some lore about your post.

I saw that you mention Italian soldiers. The equivalent of Italy in this world is the Pontifical State, basically this world's version of not just Catholicism but Christianity in general. Imagine less if they unified Italy in our world and more if after the collapse of the Roman Empire the Church controlled all of Italy.

On the same note, any references to the Christian God would be Una, the supreme deity of the Ecclesiarchy. I have a few OOC posts explaining them that are linked on the OP, but as quick run down there was no East-West Schism nor was there a Reformation for reasons I'd be happy to explain, so if Clarica worships a "God" in a Judaic-Christian sense it would be Una.

It's rather paramount to the lore that I've already established that that isn't the case. Like, to put this into perspective what the Ecclesiarchy is would be like Jesus took over the Roman Empire, ruled for a thousand years, wrote the New Testament himself and then promised to be back before then Ascending. Having it be another religion is one thing, but how Adra functions as a continent is shaped by the Cadian Empire and the Ecclesiarchy in ways that a competing "Christian" Religion simply isn't possible.

We can discuss this over DMs if you prefer, as the OOC is already getting cluttered by spam (which I've seen has already been reported)

The Tale of Two Evolutions: Why the Elves Stay When Magic Went Away


In the world of Numina it has been a long established fact that most races were the byproduct of supernatural forces, indeed somewhere more created than naturally coming to be, leaving humanity in that unique distinction of being the only one to be made by natural means.

For a long time this was an established fact that most never put much thought into. But a few still asked questions such as why most races look similar to humans and how certain races survived the decline of old magic would emerge and persist for a long time. But it was one dwarf by the name of Karl Deerwine who would proposal a controversial theory that would answer these questions.

Karl Deerwine was a dwarf who unlike most of his kind took an interest in the inner mechanism of living beings as suppose to machines, becoming a geneticists. He would travel around the world to study many different lifeforms. These trips would be famous as not only did he bring back many specimens but stories of his journey.

But during his trip he would stumble upon a group of islands that would help lead him into a breakthrough on how genetic works. In these islands he would find a species of birds that while identical with each other all had differences to fill different notched in their respective islands. His studies would find many animals adapting similar traits and studying their bones he would find that these traits slowly develop over time.

He would call this slow change to adapt to one's environment "Natural Selection" (he would also find a "Arcane Selection" later in the same islands, where magic slowly change a being to perform new abilities in order to increase their chances of surviving) and he held off on this discovery until he could have more evidence of it to prove its authenticity. As he would work to prove his theory he would begin to study the fossilized remains of different races throughout Numina's history. These studies were long and the discoveries made shook Karl done to his core. But even as he suspect the backlash his discoveries would produced he still published his findings.

In them he would proposal that not only does evolution exists, but there are two of them. Simply dubbed as natural and supernatural evolutions, Karl would explain that before humanity and the various races both represented purely of whatever evolution they were made from. But as he would propose that like the old stories humans would be changed by not only magic but by supernatural entities like faeries to produce the ancestral races of the modern ones. He would argue that these alterations would begin a shift to make humanity gain a few traits that would belong to those wholly born from the supernatural, explaining why humanity has the capability to perform magic.

However he would insist that the opposite was also true. Just as humans gain traits of the supernatural in their genes the ancestors of the modern races began to change as well, this time by natural evolution. Of the examples he provided was the revelation that dwarves once were a cousin species to dark elves with the enchanted physical capabilities and magic use implied with such connections. But over time they began to lose such traits as natural evolution deem their current abilities far more suited in their current environment.

For elves he proposed that modern elves are all in truth hybrids of ancient man and the now extinct High Elves. This cross species breeding, only possible due to their magic, diluted their fey traits and weaken some of their magic as they began to resemble more of a human with fey traits than a member of the faerie races.

Karl would propose that this fusion of both natural and supernatural evolutions is why when the Old Magic disappeared races like elves, dwarves, and orcs survived while others like dragons and giants became extinct. Save for their hybrid offspring most were still purely beings made by the supernatural, as such when the old magic faded their fate was sealed. As such both natural selection and cross species breeding with humans saved many of the races still alive in the world.

This theory was met with a tremendous amount of controversy from all races and from all walks of light. Many oppose it for religious and cultural reasons, others support it for both political and scientific reasons. Some humans embrace the theory as they use it as proof of human supremacy, it is these reasons that many non humans reject Karl Deerwine's theory.

Others as such elven supremacy groups refuse to believe that their pure blood is tainted with the blood of men and orcs who oppose the exploitation faced by their people either use the theory to show that both races are kin and should be treated as such or loath the idea that they share the same blood as those who exploit and abuse them.

To this day the theories of Karl Deerwine are controversial and the dwarf himself still lives, defending his theories as bitterly as any dwarf would with his inventions.

Personality: Octavius is a man of many virtues and vices, but beholden to very few ambitions. To put it simply, he likes to have fun, and his definition of fun includes many things that sometimes conflict with one another. For instance: Octavius finds helping people, or rather, being a helpful person, to quite enjoyable. He especially likes lending a hand to kids and those younger than him; it fills him with some sense of accomplishment as an adult. Conversely, Octavius also thinks that combat, and by extension, murder, is fun as well. He enjoys toying with his foes, disrupting enemy plans, and above all else, values a hard fought fight. This sort of dichotomy between moral and immoral governs Octavius' life; he holds allegiance to no man, woman, child, or banner, and yet, if you threaten his friends, he'll end you rightly. Octavius does not have any personal religion, but he pays his respects to each that he comes across. Et cetera.

Above all else, the pursuit of knowledge is Octavius' passion in life, and what drives his fun-loving attitude. He searches for new things in the realm of Vim and Magic to document, and making a new discovery (new to himself, at least) is invigorating. No price is too great to pay to gain more knowledge about magic, Vim, and how the two interact with one another. Octavius has put his life on the line in the past, and continues to do so in an effort to gain information no other has been able to acquire, and it's easy to see that he cares little for his own life, and only wishes that it be ended either in a pursuit of knowledge, or in a glorious battle. It's very much a "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger" mentality.

To pursue the study of Magic, Octavius threw away everything about his life, including his name. That being said, he's prone to small moments of weakness in this regard. He'll grow attached to places for a period of time, he'll have one night stands fairly often, and he can't seem to cast off his friends *entirely* though he is not above betraying someone for his craft, or even for fun. He'll still try to keep them alive, at the very least.

His body has grown into it and thusly he can move about as fast as a normal soldier, and with the right applications of Vim or Magic he can move even faster.

Bio
Octavius was born as Osmund Vallen, in the Serene Republic of Galadia, to a large middle class family. He was something of a rowdy kid growing up, always getting into tussles with his older siblings and the other kids in town (he never fought his younger siblings, though he fought alongside them often), though never out of anger and moreso out of a need to simply get rid of excess energy. They fought, and when it was all over Osmund would shake hands with his opponent and say "Let's do this again sometime!" Of course, his family, friends, everyone in town thought he'd turn out to be an adventurer or some sort of soldier in the future. Even when his magic manifested when he was six years old, perhaps especially so, everyone thought he'd make a superb adventurer.

Osmund had different plans. He wanted to know what made his magic tick. He wanted to learn as much about it as he could. From the age of eight onwards the young man performed experiments with his magic. Most of them were mundane and done far from the reaches of civilization, but as the years wore on, his siblings and friends all wanted to see the fruits of his labor. They each wanted to be part of his successes, and wanted to see him perform magic. And so, everyone gathered around while Osmund showed off his favorite type of magic: Fire Magic. Everything was going splendidly, until a local bully came by. They tried to pick on Osmund but one of his younger siblings intervened. The young boy panicked when he thought the bully was going to beat up his sibling, and his magic flared out of control. Several children were burned that day, including one of his older siblings, and from then on Osmund was forbidden from practicing magic. He was around twelve years old at the time.

However, Osmund would not be deterred. He shirked his chores, his apprenticeship, forsook everything to go off into the woods and practice his spellcasting. He was scolded severely when he came home every day, his siblings no longer wanted anything to do with him, and he was the source of public ridicule at every turn. He endured it for two more years, before deciding enough was enough. His experiments were far too important, and these people were far too insignificant. Leaving naught behind but a simple message that read, "I'm leaving. Goodbye." the young man set off in the dead of night, bartering away his meager possessions for passage along with travelling caravans. He eventually came to the nation of Thermilla and settled himself at the outskirts of a village. He built himself an earthen hut out of magic, and remained there to do his experiments and practice. Every week or so he went into town and solved problems with his Magic, which earned him the coin for clothes, furnishings, notebooks, and more. He didn't go by his birth name here; this was where the name Octavius was born, and ever since it has been his.

For three years he continued, making great headway on his magical study. His skin grew darker, and the blood in his veins took on an orange hue, and so did the irises of his eyes. He presumed that this was because of his focus on Fire Magic, and thought nothing of it. The rest of the village saw it as a novel change, and he was the subject of some affection for a few women and even some men around town. Octavius entertained them for a little while, but always his research took priority. That was, until he was conscripted. Thermilla was in a perpetual state of rivalry with their southern neighbor, Tornith, and every so often war broke out between the two. One day the military rolled up and bade all able-bodied men and women come fight for their country. The populace readily accepted this new role; Thermilla was a militaristic nation, after all. Of course, they all also babbled and talked about the sorcerer living at the edge of town, who had great control over destructive magics. When an officer knocked on his door and told him he was going off to war, the young man scarcely resisted. He'd only used his spells on another person once before, and he hadn't had a good fight in years.

Though he had a natural weapon, Octavius insisted he be issued a rifle and a blade; sometimes the best way to kill someone was the good, 'ole fashioned way. He trained for three months with both tools, before being sent off to the front lines. He quickly made a name for himself as something of a force of nature. His platoon was special, composed of individuals who were enhanced in some way to make them better than the average soldier. He boasted the most raw power out of any of them, however, he was notably still rather squishy. He didn't take to hits very well. Most of his comrades had tattooed themselves with Vuk, and some with the other types of Vim, to enhance themselves. Vuk in particular seemed to make for a sturdier body. Curious, Octavius decided to get tattooed as well, wondering how it'd affect his latent magic. For added affect he took Vuk pills every day at sunrise; it wouldn't do for him to go keeling over on everyone, now would it?

The Vuk, combined with his magic, mutated his body in an interesting manner. It resonated with his Earthen Magic and hardened his skin, until it was like stone. This, of course, made him an immensely useful tool on the battlefield. He and his platoon were the pride of their nation, and they pushed deep into enemy lines, winning victory after victory with minimal casualties. Octavius himself earned the title, "The Storm of Thermilla" for repeatedly marching through enemy formations whilst channeling an inferno around him. The problem, inherently, was that they were advancing further and faster than the rest of the army. It came to the point that they were *too* far ahead of everyone else, and the enemy cut off their retreat. The platoon suffered heavy losses and had no way to recoup them all at once, and so, a call was made. Their sergeant used the already weak and injured as a distraction; he'd given them stone shields and said, "Fight not for your country, but for the glory of battle!"

Then, while those injured soldiers pressed backwards and tried to return to friendly lines, the remaining soldiers instead did something unexpected; they pushed forwards. Their numbers were so small that slipping through enemy lines wasn't too difficult, and once they were through they wreaked havoc on the Tornithian army. Their group was hard to catch and even harder hitting. Strategic targets fell one after another, and very soon Tornith had offered an armistice to their northern neighbor. Octavius and his comrades were almost guaranteed awards and praise back home, but they were on a roll now. Why stop?

Going AWOL and turning into a mercenary company, the remaining platoon members named themselves the Agents of Chaos. Their motto was as such: Take what you will, and have fun. Each member had their personal reasons for being their, their personal morals, and no other member was beholden to fight alongside them. In fact, as time wore on, it became common for members to take jobs on opposing sides of a conflict. It was never anything personal, just business. And, provided they were all alive when the conflict ended, they gave each other crap about it and remained friends afterwards. It wasn't the life for everyone; some members began to hold grudges, and were summarily kicked out. They were replaced by the outcast and downtrodden of the world, strange people with strange abilities who often fought and always made up afterwards. Sometimes they'd get together and go on one big job together, but mostly they just went their separate ways and spread tales of their exploits.

Octavius remains a member of the Agents of Chaos to this day. He lives a more solitary life, away from his friends and comrades, and has continued researching the combination of Ancient and Vim Magic since he left the Thermillan military thirteen years ago. He got more Vuk tattoos, and a few Vash tattoos on his hands and feet. Ancient Magic always had some sort of price to it, whether it be a material cost or energy. Using Vash to jump-start a fire spell made it infinitely easier to maintain such spells and make them stronger. And, along the way, he developed a personal type of magic he calls "Flash Forging", which is essentially the combination of Earth, Morph, and Transmutation Magic to mold some earth into a shape (usually a disposable sword) and then change the materials and add new ones so that, instead of stone, it came out to be steel. Flash Forging is Octavius' pride, and though he carries a shortsword on his person, he always opts to use Flash Forging if he has the time to do so; it takes about thirty seconds to fully cast. It can't really be used at a distance; the caster must be touching the material he's forging.

After meandering for years, Octavius has found his way to Lumina, and he's ever looking for more opportunities to get into trouble and have some fun again.
