The Dalstavian War [Only Anatea] [CLOSED]

PREMISE

This war is playable only by the nation of Anatea and the NPC nation of Ruthenia (always used by Anatea) for develop its lore and for test the Strategic Rules of War. Every nation of every region that tries to get in the role will be reported by the modders and the post deleted, while for the region of Anteria their invasive actions will be retconned and deleted. All the maps and most of the images are made by me.

THE DALSTAVIAN WAR

May 2019
After the referendum held in the Ruthenian region of Dalstavia, the latter decided to be annexed by the nearby and peaceful Republic of Anatea, after the government of the Federal Republic of Ruthenia had repeatedly ignored the sanitary and economic problems of the regions since the end of the Ruthenian Civil War.
Six years have passed since that distant conflict, and Dalstavia has decided to turn his back on his old ruler to benefit from the stable economy of Anatea. But not everything went in the right way.
With the annexation of the region by Anatea, the ruthenian army armored the borders with the region and began to bomb cities and border towns in retaliation. The dalstavian population reacted immediately, arming itself and giving life to the "Free Dalstavia" rebel group, with the intent to stop the ruthenians. In all the chaos of reprisals Anatea could do nothing but look helpless, but when the ruthenian reprisals began to involve also the anatean humanitarian organizations on the border, the nation decided to act.
It began with war threats, which were taken seriously, up to organize a diplomatic meeting between King Edward II and ruthenian leader Kars Delai in Freyja, in Shadoveil.

The population of Anatea breathed a sigh of relief in this strong climate of tension, but Ruthenia had other plans ...

The task will be an easy one, because when you' ll reach Vailhims the lads of the 17th Assault Squadron of the Royal Gabrielt Airforce will cover your asses until you reach Aziallis. Given the tensions 4 squadrons will escort the delegate cargo, such as Sol, Starlia, Raylay and Horizon Squadrons. With you all King Edward II and Queen Isabel II will be ok for the rest of the travel. Also an AWACS will cover you all, but keep your eyes peeled. Dismissed! >>

The scarlet sky of May was slowly starting to get redder and darker, , while the sun, in all its light, clung to the horizon to keep the day alive until the last second. The royal plane, a C-5 Galaxy, was flying alongside the selected anatean squadrons and an AWACS that, with its radar, controlled the situation around the escort. The sunset seemed calm and without danger.

The air battle raged relentlessly, as the sun descended along with the burning carcasses of the enemy F-22s who were trying to reach their target. The anatean Su-33s, along with the Sol squadron' s AF-01s, were trying to keep the enemies away from the transport, but they were too many and too fast.

It all happened quickly. A missile departed from one of the enemy planes and went, with extreme precision, to explode against the C-5 Galaxy of the anatean delegation. There was another big explosion, then the huge metal beast began to fall on fire in that scarlet sunset.

Later, in Solisea in the same day...

That evening the crowd of journalists waited at the royal palace for the appearance of Princess Soleri in the common room, for the interview that the survivor of the royal family had arranged to inform the whole nation about what was happening. The journalists were eager to hear what the new monarch had to say, while the anatean people remained with bated breath and eyes glued to a television, whether they were at home, public places, bars or other infrastructures.
" I can do that, i can do that... " said the young princess to herself, from behind the scenes, trying to hold back the tears that had repeatedly scratched her face at the news of her parents' disappearance a few hours before.
" Are you ready, miss? " says a male voice behind her suddenly. It was Mark Sorbo, the president of the anatean Set party, the right-wing party of the nation currently in charge.
The girl nodded shyly, continuing to look with resignation at an undefined point in front of her.
" I know it's really hard to lose a family and remain the only one able to carry on a nation on their own, without anyone's support. And on this, princess, i' m close to you because on that plane i' ve lost some of my friends and colleagues from my party too, and as minister chosen by our citizens, i want to tell you that you' ll not be alone in all this. "
" Thank you... " she only managed to get out of her lips the young woman, raising her head for then, with a firm and slow step, go through the door that would take her to the common room, where the people waited for answers to the thousand questions they had.

<< People of Anatea, who have inhabited our land for centuries and who rules this nation sovereignly.
Today is a black day for our nation ... My father and my mother, our beloved rulers of this peaceful nation, died a few hours ago at the hands of a vile attack by Ruthenia, that not only cowardly kill my parents without even showing itself, but it took the opportunity to attack and start an invasion of the Dalstavia region, south of Anatea.
Our diplomats worked day and night to prevent this, but Ruthenia didn' t want to listen and deceived us, even though we had all the peaceful intentions of resolving this thing in peace.
Now lots of our compatriots are fighting to the south to defend us from this imminent threat, recommending them to return home safe and sound.
I hope we will be able to get out of this situation without too many deaths, and hoping that madness and anger will not bath in blood the lands of both countries. >>

When the speech was over, the woman returned to her personal room to lock herself in it.
She didn't want anyone to talk to, she didn't want to hear anything except the voice of her parents that she hoped to hear at any moment, as if everything that had happened had been just a mis-en-scene. But nothing was perceptible to the hearing, if not the sad silence that had enveloped the room and the chirping of some birds outside which accompanied the setting of the sun.
Sofia could not help but burst into tears, sitting exhausted near the closed door on which she had leaned her back, while her hands tried to unsuccessfully repress the tears that came plentifully from her eyes.
She didn't know what to do in this situation, she didn't even know how to handle the sudden conflict in which Anatea had been thrown. She felt lonely and abandoned in a world she was not yet ready to handle. How many people depended on her? And how many were dying elsewhere to protect the land that she alone had to govern?
The questions crowded his head without stopping, while the crying didn't decide to stop. She had never suffered so much in his life, and it came to her when she sometimes thought that the deaths of a few people in the world were worth very little.
It was a damn tragedy that no one was ready to face.
After a few minutes of venting she finally managed to stop crying, getting up and moving close to the large window that looked out on the capital. The world outside was dangerous and hard, but she knew in her heart that she had to do everything to protect her home and all its inhabitants.
Gone were the happy moments when everything depended on others. From today Anatea was her commitment, and not only did the present of the nation depend on her, but also the future.

It seemed impossible, but in the end it happened: ranks of ruthenian soldiers had invaded the dalstavian soil for engage the anatean soldiers stationed at the front. Even the anateans didn't believe it, thinking it was a joke or a fake news, but when, on the morning of May 25th, the vanguards of the 3rd Anatean Division saw the numerous ruthenian infantry units appear on the horizon together with the cloudy dawn, they understood that war had really arrived.
Fortunately the civilians had been forcibly evacuated from Mirevka, taking them to San Palia, but the anateans knew that they couldn' t leave this city in enemy hands, or the right flank, poorly defended, would have collapsed in a short time.

" Move up, move! The anatean Air Force will be here in moments, and if it finds us we' re dead! C' mon! " incited a ruthenian soldier in the middle of the plain that surrounded Mirevka, while all around him his comrades were retreating en masse.
From the advanced positions in the city the anatean soldiers watched the chaotic scene unfold, between retreating soldiers and the deads left on the battlefield.
" Sir... should we chase them? " asked an anatean soldier to his captain, who was observing with binoculars what was happening.
" No... it could be a trap. And even if it' s not one, those poor guys already had a bad day. We can have some mercy for them sometime... " reflected he officer, moving away from the advanced position shortly after. The war had begun a few days ago and he already hated it. He didn' t understand the connection of all this and even if he understood it, it would still have seemed alien to his conscience.
It was all so damn stupid and unreal.

The fear of the Anatean High Command eventually came true: although the city was fairly well defended, Ruthenia decided to launch its attack on San Palia, a strategic city in the Dalstavia region. If it had fallen, Ruthenia would have had the opportunity to break the anatean forces in two, dividing the eastern front from the western one.
That day the anatean soldiers had prepared, spending the previous days to fortify the city as best they could for the arrival of the enemy. The leaden sky and the chaotic evacuation of civilians made the day more unstable than ever. Many boys of both armies expected to spend their early summer days getting bored in their barracks, or on leave in some heavenly place, but instead they found themselves in dirty holes or in the bushes, ready to go on the assault.
