Free Republics National Information

History of the Free Republics

The Federation of Free Republics was formed in 1767, following decades of revolutions in the Lunia region. In the previous few decades, there had been a wave of revolutions. The ideas of liberalism had become popular in the region, as Abram Schmitts, an economist from Shostistan, wrote several books promoting the benefits of capitalizm. Soon, absolute monarchies fell throughout the Lunia region. The Kingdom of Saintland remained unaffected by this wave of revolutions, due to its self-imposed isolation.

Following the revolutions, there were now many Republics scattered throughout the region. These Republics faced seemingly constant attempts from reactionary elements to reverse the revolution and bring back absolute monarchy. They also had trouble trading and communicating with one another. The newly free, with a lowercase f, Republics had numerous antiquated laws and contradictory systems of measurement in effect. A foot in Vorita was 2 feet in Amolotopia and a meter in Roxawa was a decimeter in Nejax. It was a total mess all around. This mess was made even worse by the multitude of languages spoken in the different Republics. As they sought to eliminate trade barriers and forge closer ties between one another, their efforts resulted in confusion. In the days of absolute monarchy, the inability to speak one another's language was a benefit, since kings were always waging wars against one another. However, as the Industrial Revolution heated up and brought an unprecedented degree of prosperity to the land, they could no longer maintain separate languages, separate measurements and the arcane laws and regulations that were hindering commerce in the region.

Then, a rebellion broke out in the Republic of Roxawa. The rebels sought to abolish all property, all laws and even government itself. Rampaging around the countryside, they attacked government buildings, vandalized property and stole whatever they felt like. All the while, they spoke of total freedom. Terrifying the Republic's well-armed militia into inaction, the rebel crime spree continued for weeks. Fear spread throughout the region that other "rebellions" of this sort would soon break out, providing the perfect excuse for the Federationists. The leaders of 77 Republics throughout the region agreed to send delegates to the city of Baseton in Amolotopia to discuss an appropriate response to the rebellion. This was a pretext, which was seized upon by the Federationists to push their "Constitution" scheme.

The Federationists proposed that a document called a "Constitution" would establish a new unified government of all of the Republics, known as the Federation Government. This would be a relatively weak government, as the Republics would remain mostly autonomous and generally free to do as they wished in governing themselves. The Federation Government would have an enumerated list of responsibilities, such as promoting commerce, maintaining a common foreign policy and common immigration policy and several other minor tasks, such as the option to establish a national postal system.

The Constitution guaranteed a number of fundamental rights. Among them are the rights to freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion and the right to own weapons for the defense not only of oneself and of the Federation, but also against tyranny. Other provisions of the Constitution prohibited unreasonable searches, cruel and unusual punishments and double jeopardy. The document also included a strict prohibition on the practice of slavery and declared immediately and permanently free any "slave" that was brought within any territory subject to the Free Republics. The Federation Government has the power to pass any legislation it deems necessary to free slaves. While ratification was controversial, due to the feeling among many people that the Federation Government was too powerful, it was eventually ratified by the electorate in each of the original 77 Republics. Today, there are the number of Republics in the Federation is well into the hundreds.

The Constitution created a bicameral Legislature and an executive branch where power is shared equally by the 2 heads of state. The Assembly is the popularly elected branch of the Legislature. Originally, it used a first-past-the-post system, but this was later changed to proportional representation after political parties and coalitions became the norm. The entire Assembly has always been up for re-election every second year. The Senate, by contrast, is a purely appointed branch and Senators serve for life terms. When a Senator is elected to another office, he becomes an inactive Senator, but other than such periods when he may serve in other offices, he is a Senator for life, without exception. Each Republic may appoint a new Senator every second year and Senators are appointed in the same years when Assembly elections are held. Finally, the Consuls are elected to 8 year terms, with a new Consul elected every 4th year. This means that every other Assembly election is held simultaneously with a Consul election. The Constitution prohibits any Consul from serving more than a single term per lifetime. Originally, Consuls were also elected first-past-the-post, but that has since changed to a 3 round system. In the first round, the top 2 candidates, plus any other candidates that get at least 10 percent of the vote advance, assuming that no candidate gets a majority of the vote. The second round sees the top 2 candidates advance, again assuming that nobody wins a majority of the votes cast. In the third and final round, whoever wins the majority of votes cast is elected. Both Consuls have and have always had full power to veto any act of the other and former Consuls automatically become Senators upon the expiration of their term in office.

The government of the Free Republics quickly moved to standardize the system of measurements used throughout the Federation and adopt English as the national language. To help transition the Federation to an English-speaking nation, the Federation Government established a system of schools funded by the Federation Government, which ensured that the next generation would speak English and identify themselves as Republicans, rather than identifying themselves by their home Republic and speaking their Republic's native language. A substantial minority of parents resisted this effort, but children were allowed to go to school and learn English, whether or not they had parental permission. By 1830, almost everybody spoke English and identified as a Republican, not an Amolotopian, Roxawan, Voritan, Schost or whatever the demonym was for their home Republic. This brought about a more unified society. Around this time, education was returned to the Republics, most of which eventually adopted a voucher based system.

The government also banned trade barriers between Republics. This was an expected and noncontroversial move. The funding of the government by a tariff also proved uncontroversial, since politicians generally agreed that the tariff should be limited to revenue only and not used to "protect" industries from competition. However, an income tax was eventually adopted as foreign imports began to dry up. The Republican economy was simply too much of a powerhouse to justify importing goods from abroad. Discontent with the income tax grew as the government kept pushing it higher and higher. Finally, Paul Musgrove ran for Consul on a platform of capping all taxes at 10 percent of income. After his election, the amendment passed both the Assembly and the Senate before being sent directly to referendum. Voters in every Republic overwhelmingly voted for it and it became a popular amendment.

In the 20th century, the Free Republics became even more of an economic powerhouse, thanks to the capitalizt economic system. Business thrived in the FFR, as the nation became progressively wealthier. Over the years, the FFR has expanded its territory while remaining on the cutting edge of technological advancement. In the present day, the Free Republics have a population in the billions and are one of the wealthiest nations in the multiverse, with a correspondingly high rate of income inequality. The exact population of the Free Republics is unknown, due to a Constitutional amendment adopted in 1934, which prohibited the taking of a Census by any entity, whether governmental or otherwise.

Several years ago, the Free Republics were left leaderless following the death of both Consuls within the span of a few months, one of them via assassination. In the chaos, Reino Kulseth of the Holy Party was elected Consul and gradually obtained dictatorial power for himself at the expense of the nation's Republican institutions. Kulseth established a tyrannical government that passed laws against lying (despite routinely lying to their own people) and mandating the use of the word "thou" instead of you in most circumstances. Kulseth dragged the nation into a large-scale war that proved extremely costly for both sides and which led to his downfall.

In the end, the Republican people rose up against Kulseth and, aligned with several foreign armies, brought down Kulseth's "Holy Republican Empire" and brought back the Federation of Free Republics. Robert Nicholls, the father of Veleik Nicholls (leader of the popular revolt) and owner of Nicholls Enterprises, was named the new Acting Consul until such time as the normal electoral process could elect his replacement. However, the following election led to the rise to power of another tyrant, Consul Caleb O'Reilly, who jailed Acting Consul Nicholls and basically turned over control of the country to a hivemind of robots which oppressed the people of the nation until one day when hackers disabled the robots and Consul O'Reilly resigned from office, claiming to have been under hypnosis during his entire time as Consul. In the aftermath, Consul Nicholls was restored to power as the Senior Consul as the FFR geared up for another election. Consul Nicholls intended to spend his time as Consul restoring the Free Republics to its former glory and was relieved that the Republican people selected retired soccer player and current professional wrestler Kyle Bolton to be their new Junior Consul in the election.

Unfortunately, the left-wing extremists in a handful of Republics, who had previously scared many Republicans into voting for Kulseth and O'Reilly, rose up in a wave of anarchistic street violence. When the Federation Government adopted measures to stop the violence, the 32 Republics they controlled seceded from the Free Republics and declared themselves a Confederacy of Leftist Republics, which quickly became a state sponsor of terror. Consul Nicholls waged war against this rebellion and ultimately defeated them. After the conclusion of this short-lived civil war, Consul Nicholls introduced "charter societies" located in the 32 former Leftist Republics and sold off ownership of these autonomous societies, whose residents are prohibited from participating in Federation Government elections or sending any representation to Republica, to the highest bidding political extremist groups in an effort to address the FFR's political extremism problem once and for all.

With the extremist groups largely exiled to the charter societies, political stability has improved in the nation. This quickly bore some fruit with the decision by the Free Republics to join the Reichsburg Free Trade Agreement and negotiate other free trade agreements with the various nations of the multiverse. Scarlett Nicholls was elected as the new Consul 2 years ago and has focused on a moderate socially progressive agenda, highlighted by her successful effort to legalize same-sex marriage, her push for gender equality in Republican society and her support of the FFR's famous sex-positive culture.

Transportation

Just about every mode of transportation is an option in the Free Republics. Visitors for the Sporting World Cup may arrive at any seaport or airport in the Free Republics. Planes and ships may also be used to travel between cities. As the Free Republics spans 4 continents and many thousands of miles, the use of planes is recommended for long-distance travel.

Several private companies offer high speed rail between cities. It is possible to travel through most of the Free Republics on high-speed rail, although in some places you may have to walk across the city to a competing company's station to go to your desired destination.

The use of bicycles, although unregulated, is not recommended. The Free Republics are simply too vast a nation, so players and fans that travel by bike risk missing a match altogether.

Taxis are available in every city that will be hosting Sporting World Cup games. Most bus services cover a radius of less than 100 miles, so the use of buses is only recommended for short distance travel.

Automobiles are legal in the Free Republics and can be rented near any airport or seaport. Travel by automobile is possible to any nation located on one of the 4 continents upon which the Free Republics are located. However, as the Republican continents are located in Lunia, it is not possible to travel by automobile to-or-from the Free Republics and all other nations participating in the Sporting World Cup. Anybody who intends to rent a car is strongly encouraged to get a Republican drivers license, as foreign drivers licenses are only recognized in certain Republics. Most Republics will hand out a drivers license to anybody that applies and passes the driving test. The difficulty of these tests varies greatly by Republics. The test in Nejax is notoriously easy while the test in Amolotopia is notorious as one of the most difficult. Despite this, all Republics are required by Federation law to recognize out-of-Republic drivers licenses as valid. A wide variety of cars are commonly available in the Free Republics, such as SUVs, sports cars and pick-up trucks. Those that have money to burn may rent luxury cars or limos. The vast majority of cars on the road are produced in the Free Republics. Many roads, especially long distance roads, are underfunded and in poor condition, so planes and high speed rail are much more popular in the Free Republics.

Lodging

There are numerous hotel firms throughout the Free Republics. Participating nations will be required to pay for their own lodging. We encourage participating teams to visit hotels.co.republica and purchase rooms before the rush. Those that wait may very well end up staying in a cheap motel with holes in the walls and bedbugs under the sheets.

Those national teams that do not wish to stay in hotels may stay at various campgrounds outside of the host cities.

Weather

The Free Republics has a varied climate and as the Sporting World Cup will be held in the early spring, the weather will vary depending upon where in the country you are. Snow is still a possibility in the north and in mountainous regions and the weather may be cold in those regions. Rain and thunderstorms may also appear anywhere in the country. The weather may also be unseasonably warm anywhere in the Free Republics but it can go from warm to cold or vice versa overnight.

Language

The official language of the Free Republics is English and all government documents are printed in English. Most private businesses do not print anything in a non-English language. While the rise of xenophobia in the Free Republics has subsided, most Republicans still don't speak any languages other than English. The most common foreign language spoken in the Free Republics is Latin, due to the influence of the Church of Saintland in recent years, but its use is currently frowned upon because of the language's association with the former Kulseth dictatorship.

Currency

The Republican Thaler is the only widely accepted currency in the Free Republics. Financial institutions are generally willing to change Sanctii bullion, Acedonian Aces or Universal Standard Dollars into Thalers. Due to the large number of currencies in the world, it is impossible for financial institutions in the Free Republics to keep track of all of them. Therefore, it is highly recommend that everybody visiting the Free Republics get their currency converted into Thalers, USDs or bullion before entering the Free Republics. Non-Republican Thalers, such as the now-defunct Taxachusetts Thaler (which was notorious for its extremely high inflation rates), are not accepted as currency in the Free Republics and are not convertible into Republican Thalers.

Entertainment

There are a plethora of entertainment options in the Free Republics. Every quality hotel room comes equipped with cable or satellite television, including thousands of channels and an interactive program guide. No matter what your preferences, you can probably find something on Republican television that you'd want to watch. If you can't find anything to watch on TV, you can always log on to Sanctustube, a video sharing website from Saintland, and browse the uncensored version of the site, which has (illegal) copies of just about every television program and movie in the multiverse.

Virtually every town in the Free Republics includes a movie theater, which is a popular social hangout. Tickets are relatively inexpensive, to keep an endless flow of teenagers coming into the movie theaters. Concerts are held in the major cities on a near-daily basis and there are several popular groups in each major genre.

Nightclubs and bars are available in virtually every village, town or city in the entire Federation. The local laws do differ, but most Republics will allow anybody over the age of 15 or so to enter a bar or nightclub. Strip clubs and brothels are also popular, although the regulation of those establishments greatly differs in each Republic. Women should be forewarned that the definition of consent in the Free Republics tends to be somewhat looser than they may be used to. In particular, Republican law regards intoxicated individuals as 100% capable of giving consent to the same extent as sober individuals and holds such individuals fully responsible for their actions and choices while intoxicated. Republican law also applies a "reasonable belief" test under which non-consensual sex is lawful if the consenting party has a "reasonable belief" that the other party is consenting. Many bars and clubs also sell marijuana, which is legal throughout most of the Free Republics (despite the efforts of the Outlaw Marijuana Party to change this).

In the past, pro wrestling has been a popular form of entertainment in the Free Republics, especially among guys between the ages of 13 and 30. The wrestling company in the Free Republics put on extremely violent and sexualized shows. As their shows grew more explicit, their ratings steadily increased to the point where they were once of the most popular programs on television in the Free Republics. The Republican Wrestling Conglomerate attempted international expansion at one time, but the rise of Consul Kulseth and the restrictions he imposed on the content of their programming eventually drove them out of business. Abelino Sagese, their former owner, established the New Republican Wrestling Conglomerate, but it is not quite as popular yet as its predecessor. The issues of the NRWC have been exacerbated by its recent decision to fire an executive because his wife was a vocal critic of certain radical forms of Christianity on social media. This inspired the National Baseball Team to launch a campaign called "Stand Up to Sexism" to promote gender equality in Republican sports and eventually forced the NRWC to back down, apologize and offer the executive his job back. All-Taiyou Pro Wrestling of Noburu Taiyou has recently attempted to enter the Republican market and even held a number of events in major arenas earlier this year after purchasing arena dates from the National Basketball Team due to the numerous delays of this year's IBC tournament.

Republican entertainment has been hit hard by the Kulseth and O'Reilly regimes, but businesses in that sector are currently trying to revive it. The Republican video game industry, long dominated by the RepublicSoft Saint, a device created as part of a partnership between RepublicSoft and the Sanctii government, has been hit particularly hard due to RepublicSoft's extremely close ties to the Kulseth regime. Republican gamers are currently enjoying the Miktondo Flip, a Taiyouese import that was the first to release of a new generation of handheld gaming devices while increasing numbers of Republican computer users have begun migrating to open source alternatives to RepublicSoft's Doors operating system and Citrus Computing's cOS mobile operating system, particularly after the free upgrade to Doors 12 was discovered to contain numerous backdoors designed to aid the efforts of the Kulseth government to spy on its citizens and Citrus Computing was discovered to have collaborated with the O'Reilly regime. Even Googol's Cyborg mobile OS has come under much criticism of late for overly restricting the freedom of its users. One of the more popular open source operating systems is Perestroika.

Important Laws

For the most part, visiting teams and fans will not have to worry about any unusual laws in the Free Republics. While public nudity statutes remain on the books in many Republics and around half of the Republics restrict the use of hard drugs, pornography, prostitution, alcohol, tobacco and cannabis are generally legal. In fact, pornography is legal everywhere in the FFR, as it is recognized by the Federation courts as freedom of speech. While many of these activities were barred at the request of the Kulseth regime and later barred again by the O'Reilly regime, there has been a push since the fall of the dictatorships to legalize them as widely as possible. However, laws against abortion tend to vary between Republics and some Republics have made it a crime to utilize their transportation infrastructure to travel to another Republic to procure an abortion. Public opposition to abortion has been growing in recent years, so more and more Republics are passing laws restricting or outlawing abortion.

Some Republics have their share of silly laws. The Constitutional provision prohibiting "cruel and unusual punishment" does not have as strong of an effect as you might expect because the Federation courts use an 18th century definition of cruel and unusual punishment. While nobody's going to be hung, drawn and quartered or tortured for evidence, several backwater Republics do practice some rather bizarre punishments for crimes. If you're going to run into any legal problems, it will probably be in some backwater Republic, since they have historically been the main power base of extremist politicians in the Free Republics. You may also run into problems in the charter societies as they are not required to follow the Federation Constitution and are generally run by extremist groups. Even under the Kulseth and O'Reilly Consulships, the federal system remained largely intact, so many of these extremist politicians have been in power since the days before Kulseth's rise.

In particular, women visiting the Free Republics should be mindful that sexual consent is defined slightly more broadly than they may be used to. The Free Republics has traditionally had a very sex-positive culture for the most part and has tended to be suspicious at times regarding the reliability of accusations of sexual crimes. The different sexual norms in the Free Republics have caused several international incidents in the past. Sexual norms changed during the Kulseth regime and have yet to fully return to the way that they were. Given Kulseth's popularity among Republican women, it is doubtful that the old sexual culture will ever be fully restored but there are many Republicans who long for a return to normalcy, including the old sexual norms, and the nightlife industry is currently bigger and more successful than it has been at any point since the rise of Kulseth.

Starblaydia won the Under-18 World Cup at their first attempt four years ago, with wing wizard Arkady Krakowski lifting the Sporting World Cup Trophy at Royal Equestria Stadium. The SFA had declined to send a squad to the previous six editions, but their reaction to a steadily decreasing level of senior team performance since the Third Place at the 56th Atlantian Oceania Confederation of Association Football Cup has been an admirable one. Using this competition to build for the future, Ázëwyn Fëanáro has managed to be successful at the very first attempt. What comes next, however, is the difficult second album, the curse of the sequel.

Eleven of this squad took part in the previous tournament and, although the entirety of the starting XI has graduated out of the Under-18s, the new players coming in to wear the 1-11 numbers will have to take on the task of living up to the previous class' achievements. It will be doubly hard now, however, as the defending champs have a target on their back, in the sights of every other team at this championship. But, for Starblaydia, the 7th Sporting World Cup represented their first international tournament victory in one hundred and twenty years, so it's not one they will relinquish lightly.

The goalscoring feats of Sutter McCloud will need to be repeated, whether by Edwin Deacy or Carmine Velasquez, or maybe even sixteen year old Hope Roshanak coming off the bench. In lieu of captain Arkady Krakowski, Edwin Deacy needs to make his presence known on the pitch. Calindra Apelles provided the thrust four years ago, but can Kristof Faiisa or Lucy Saraviva do the same? Cosmo Leopoldi never let more than one shot past him in seven games, so Elliot Jakobsen has a lot to live up to. These are the shoes this team needs to fill, with their rainbow-laced boots showing to the world that this is one team, one nation, one Starblaydia. It's also one Starblaydia that wants more than their one Championship, don't forget.

Ázëwyn Fëanáro has shown that her style, her way of managing and her way of making her teams play is, barring a few minor hiccups, surely the way forward. Will a successful foundation in the Sporting World Cup and the Di Bradini Cup continue to be built, so that the Senior side can propel themselves to that greatest of all glories in the sports world? Let's see how they handle this tournament first, before thinking about that hallowed #wewantsix.

Staff
AF. Ázëwyn Fëanáro*, Manager, 4,059
270 Caps, 71 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 level)
Fëanáro scored the winner in the 47th Final against Valanora, denying them a title on their own turf and lifting Starblaydia to the mantle of all-time greatest team. Known for her excellent attacking play, range of passing and great eye for goal that lifts her to second in the all-time goalscorers list too, by virtue of a nearly 1-in-4 ratio, Ázëwyn Fëanáro is a symbol of grace, power and beauty from Starblaydia's golden age, some hundred and twenty-five years ago when the Cup was in its 40s. It is these qualities that the SFA managed to recapture with Fëanáro at the helm for the 78th World Cup Qaulifiers, bringing her trademark poise and piercing yell to the touchlines after more than a decade of national failures. Considered to be by far the most successful and beloved manager in Starblaydia's recent past, and at this point may well be the manager for eternity.

JM. Jerzy Makuszewski, Assistant Manager, 69
83 Caps, 0 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Known as "Chef" by those who can pronounce his surname correctly, Makuszewski took up the mantle of "Best in the World" Lucas Cable to become Starblaydia's unassailable number one between the posts and wear the captain's armband. Always a fiery character, he can shift from jovial to furious in moments, and is Fëanáro's 'enforcer', barking out orders and remonstrating with players and officials with equal fervour. Age has not wearied his inimitable growling on the sidelines by even a little bit.

ediraf once again innovated beyond all competitors with the Generation Five series of football kits, with this version first debuted at the 82nd World Cup Finals.

Generation Five-B blends a number of Starblaydia's iconic kits from across more than a quarter of a millennium, including the return of side panels and a number on the front, while mixing in new design elements such as the subtle stripes of the away kit. Both proudly sport the five gold stars - representing their record-setting five World Championships at senior level - above the Starblaydi Football Association logo. Starblaydi players will also all be wearing rainbow laces, as a symbol of diversity and inclusion.

Experienced youth coach and manager, Judy Scott, takes charge of the side following her sacking from the Warriors job last season. She’s been here before, she knows the lie of the land, and that should make for a smooth transition. Scott will get the team playing attacking football, and is most certainly someone who can get the most from players in this age bracket. She has installed Gareth Souter as assistant, who takes up his first coaching role since hanging up his boots with Marionville at the end of the season. With over a century of caps for Schottia, and a long successful career in Ceni behind him, the former DBC winner should hopefully be able to impart some of that knowledge. First team coach, David Leiwes is fresh from the FA’s youth coaching programme, and has plenty of contemporary knowledge and methods to help bring the best of the players. Goal keeping coach, Hannah Russell has worked with Schottia at under-21 level in the past.

The kits for this tournament cycle are designed by Schottsport of Schottia

Starting XI

The Squad
GK. John Prichard, Image Kirk Preston United, 18 Height: 186cm. Weight: 67kg
GK. Max Cassley, Image Handon United, 17. Height: 188cm. Weight: 70kg
GK. Elspeth Forres, Image Cornellians, 18 Height: 181cm. Weight: 68kg

John Prichard – brother of Kirk Preston teammate, Afton – will start between the sticks. The teenager is one of the few keepers in this age bracket with genuine first team experience, having started fifteen matches for the Holy Men last season. He took advantage of injuries to install himself as the number one choice for the First Divison champions, and by the end of their promotion push was an automatic pick. By contrast, Max Cassely is a Handon United academy recruit, who will be hoping to gain further experience while away at Sporting World Cup. He’s a big, strong lad, with all the attributes to make it in the SPL. Elspeth Forres will act as cover, having recently made the breakthrough with Cornellians in the Junior Championship.

RB. Hiro Del Duniun, Image Willox Street Pirates 16. Height: 186cm. Weight: 69kg
LB. Katherina Meyer zu Heide, Image Lammerton, 18. Height: 183cm. Weight: 64kg (C)
CB. Sarah Meerfeld, Image Cornelians, 18 Height: 186cm. Weight: 69kg
CB. Nicolas Strathspey, Image Lammerton, 17. Height: 179cm. Weight: 64kg
RB. Gemma Kastir, Image Kings Park, 17 Height: 178cm. Weight: 61kg
LB. Kyle Skea, Image FC Soessch, 18 Height: 186cm. Weight: 67kg
CB. Jonathon Alvie, Image Port Sebastian, 18 Height: 178cm. Weight: 61kg

The instantly recognisable name in the Schottic defence is that of Kati Meyer zu Heide. The Lammerton defender, with a name that barely fits on the back of her shirt, looked very impressive as she debuted for the Hornets last season. The pacey left-back will also captain this U-18s side. With 16-year-old Hiro Del Duniun on opposite flank, Schottia have an ultra-attacking wingback combo. The Willox Street kid made a number of appearances for the Christopherans’ second string, Pirate Cove, and didn’t look out of place. Beanpole centre-half, Sarah Meerfeld is highly rated within the Cornellians youth system, and the two SPL appearances she made last season proved that she is perhaps ready for first team football. Alongside her, Judy Scott will likely go with either Nicolas Strathspey or Jonathon Alvie, both of whom are performing well in the Junior League with Lammerton and Porty respectively. Royals right-back Gemma Kastir and Soessch left-back Kyle Skea provide cover in the wide areas.

AMR. Scott Knoxburgh-Brann, Image Handon United 15. Height: 182cm. Weight: 67kg
AML. Kendra Ramsey, Image Chenoworth Rovers, 17. Height: 179cm. Weight: 65kg
AM/ST. Rachael Arniston, Image Kirston Union, 18. Height: 184cm. Weight: 62kg
CM. Tessa Maitfield, Image Willox Street Pirates, 16. Height: 175cm. Weight: 59kg
CM. Trista Lira, Image Bara Waves, 17 Height: 176cm. Weight: 60kg
RW. Noah Black Image Lammerton, 15 Height: 177cm. Weight: 61kg
CM. Snèachda, Image Handon United, 16 Height: 93cm. Weight: 18kg [Kelpie]
LW. Úisge-Aonàranach, Image Central Stars, 17 Height: 98cm. Weight: 20kg [Kelpie]
DM. Mira Lawoti, Image Handon United, 16 Height: 173cm. Weight: 54kg

Most of the pre-tournament hype has centred on the inclusion of 17-year-old Kendra Ramsey. The teenager, with one of the most recognisable surnames in Multiverse football, seems, at this stage, to have opted to play for her country of birth as apposed to that of her mother or grandfather. Whether the granddaughter of Gethin and daughter of Triffid can have her head turned in the future remains to be seen, so for now Schottia fans should just enjoy her. In a squad of next generation stars, Tessa Maitfield is another name fans should be familiar with. The daughter of Willox Street boss, Tim, was born in Ceni during his time with Polaris. Amidst all this excitement, it would be easy to forget Kirston Eagles kid Rachel Arniston, who put in some dazzling performances in the First Divison last season. She is a goal-scoring midfielder who isn’t afraid to role her sleeves up, and will likely excel at this level. At fifteen, Scott Knoxburgh-Brann is youngest member of the squad, but the creative United winger is almost certain to start wide right. Waiting in the wings: Trista Lira had an impressive breakthrough season at Bara last year, while Noah Black and Mira Lawoti will likely also get their chances at some point. There is also a good chance we that we could see our first non-human to pull on a Schottia shirt here at the Sporting World Cup. Kelpies, Snèachda and Úisge-Aonàranach, have both been on good form with their respective clubs and the sapient ponies should get a chance at some point.

ST Enrico Hanson-Conavacio, Image Manechester City, 16. Height: 187cm. Weight: 65kg
ST. Simon Palermo, Image Willox Street Pirates, 17. Height: 175cm. Weight: 63kg
ST. Kinnel Hunter, Image Regional Development Side A 17. Height: 182cm. Weight: 65kg
ST/AM. Lilíúisge Image Willox Street Pirates, 17. Height: 101cm. Weight: 19kg [Kelpie]

With Scott opting for two up front, this tournament should be an excellent chance for some of the country’s budding strikers to tout their wares. Enrico Hanson-Conavacio is the son of Schottia Physio, Claire, and Quebec legend, Leonardo. Quick, aggressive, and energetic, the Manechester City star will be Schottia’s main man up front. Alongside him, Simon Palermo scored seven goals for the Pirates development side last season, and his fancy footwork will likely grace the stages of the SPL at some point next year. Kinnel Hunter is the national academy’s prize asset right now, and with her eighteenth birthday fast approaching, she’ll be looking to put herself in the shop window. Finally, Lilíúisge was another player who started to get a little game time at the Pirates last season; but at just over a metre tall, she might not be Judy Scott’s type of forward.

Player roles: Captain: Katherina Meyer zu Heide | Vice-Captain: John Prichard | Penalties: Enrico Hanson-Conavacio | Free Kicks: Rachel Arniston (R) – Kendra Ramsey (L) | Corners: Rachel Arniston (R) - Kendra Ramsey (L)

OOC: The SWC is happening concurrently with the Copa Rushmori & DBC in the Darmeni timeline, August of 2044. Ages correct as of August 1, 2044. CfE players listed generically as CfE rosters have yet to be finalized. If Apox does this during the course of the SWC, I'll amend the roster to reflect the assignments. CfE players now assigned.

Cosumar U18 National Team
Sporting World Cup 8

Image

Team Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Government: Cosumar is a Fiefdom, comprised of 21 ancient fiefs (which now function as provinces) as well as seven extraterrestrial colonies across our galactic neighborhood. Cosumar is a constitutional monarchy with King James II and the King's Congress in Ramusok at its head. The pillars of long-term sustainability, scientific advancement, reverence for nature, respect for all cultures, complete personal freedoms and the exploration of space are held dear.

Region: Atlantian Oceania

Nickname: Wyrmlings

Colors: Royal Blue, Silver, Navy, White

Team: In the image of the senior Cosumar team, Hadassah Zepećky's U18 squad plays a balanced game, using high pressure to force mistakes and capitalizing on them with quick, up-tempo passing. This generation of young Cosumarite talent includes players already playing prominent roles in the Härlighet Ligan and abroad. The roster consists of 23 players, 22 of whom are standard unmodified humans (homo sapiens). The remaining, striker Baylo Na'Bukanm, is Vloo (homo cosumarensis) - a sentient species native to Cosumar. Vloo are humanoid and slightly taller on average, with pale blue skin and a pair of small horns. Their range of athleticism is similar to that of humans. You can recognize Vloo by their surnames: which begin with the clan prefixes Na'-, Vu'- or Va'-.

Donning the uniform of the senior National Team is a prestigious honor (one that must be earned), so our youth teams do not use the same one. Our U18 team wears the old NT kits that were used in World Cup 70 and decommissioned prior to World Cup 71. Courtesy of Meski Sports. The home (left) and away (middle) kits feature the iconic Azure Dragon that resides in Cosumar's northern peninsula wilderness. The goalkeeper kit (right) is swathed in green and gold - the colors of the royal family.

Since there is no signs of age-progression, Main Nation Ministry will allow him in the reserve, until the rules say otherwise.)

Uniforms: Uniforms will be checkered black and white, where the national red V will be visible on the sleeves. A favorite among the public of Main Nation Ministry and players for Ministry of Sports World Cup players. Since the players will be or under 18, Main Nation Ministry had made sure that some of the outfits easily fit our young players. "Benchers" or demon players who are assigned at bench unless needed will be wearing similar uniforms to match their needs.

Quote of the Week: "A NEW STORY ON WRITING THREAD FOR HALLOWEEN!! MYSTERY MINE AVAILABLE NOW!"

RPs I do
- How do you do fellow kids? You want to see something violent? - Artemis: Deimos Trafficking League (Horror/Mature)
- Descend into the forgotten tourist traps of Florida on this transgressive RP! - The Community (Mature/Black Comedy/Slice-of-Life)

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.

Schottia The Next Generation

Part One.

Arniston Castle

Arniston Castle was a bleak and gloomy stack of sandstone. The sixteenth century townhouse slouched like an old man, almost seeming to rest for support upon the newer constructions on either side. If the building had ever been lavish, that history was long forgotten, as the now dilapidated structure lay open to the elements. The once imposing round tower was a roofless home to nesting birds, and the walled gardens, a jungle of nettles and thorns. Up and down the dismal, weathered façade, were hollow and soulless windows, many of which had been boarded up long ago.

As Rachel Arniston rounded the corner of Garalton High Street, and headed up Castle Lane, the partially collapsed walls of her ancestral family home came into view. Schottia must have seen some heavy rain over the past few days, as the grey-yellow sandstone residue was already visible, washed into the gutter. The building had been slowly dissolving for as long as Rachel could remember it. Grain by grain, the structure that had once proudly lorded it over the land, was being integrated back into the soil, carried far and wide on the soles of unsuspecting shoes. Castle Lane was always quiet; there were no commercial properties, with the only real traffic coming from the customers of the small, waterside bistro at the end of the street. There were no pavements as such, rather the coble stones sloped down into a shallow trough where people walked amongst the silt and detritus washed from the road surface. She and her brother had raced up and down these streets whilst growing up, rattling against the old cobles on their bikes, their teeth chattering together. Nothing much had changed.

As she finally reached the building, she ran her fingers around the stones, so eroded, so in need of repointing, that it looked as if they were simply sat atop one another. It was nine months since she had last been here, when she had packed her bags and headed for pastures new. She wondered if John had been here at any point. Her brother was the only other person who owned a key, not that you really need one. The building was in such a state of disrepair that she half expected to find squatters, or maybe some kids who’d decided to turn it into a hide out. There were most definitely a few windows that only required a decent shove to get them open, and some of the doorways her father had boarded up ten years ago were probably rotten through. You wouldn’t think it from the street, but the land Arniston Castle covered was extensive. And stretched for about sixty metres all the way down to the riverbank. There were stables and an old gardener’s cottage also, both of which were now crumbling shells, and utterly undistinguishable from courtyard and walled gardens.

Rachel removed her keys from her knapsack, and located the heavy, black, iron one which would unlock the front door. The only entrance still accessible from the street was a heavy, dark green painted door, with a low mantel, requiring the entrant to duck as they stepped inside. The key turned easily in the lock – relief – and the door didn’t resist too much as it scraped against the flagstones of the hallway. Inside it was musty, but didn’t smell quite as damp as Rachel had feared. She flicked the light switch – which remarkable still worked – chasing away some of the gloom. She bent down and retrieved an arm full of letters and advertising, placing them on the dark, almost black, oak side table, before venturing further.

As the years had gone by, Rachel’s family and their decedents had used fewer and fewer rooms in the town house, as dwindling finances had meant they were impossible to maintain and heat. Through most of her childhood, her parents had stuck to the same six rooms. Three bedrooms up the stairs, and a small closet toilet, which looked as if it had been fitted out in the eighteen hundreds. Downstairs, on the right, there was a bathroom shower, which had been done up fairly recently, and a little further along was the family’s livingroom-come-kitchen. Built into what had once been the great hall, was thier large open-plan living area, and the only part of the building which could be considered close to modern. Inspired by glossy home improvement magazines, it had been her mother’s pet project for most of Rachel’s life. She had lost count of the number of times she’d seen builders coming and going, installing: skylights, the new kitchen, and some sort of under floor heating system which ran off the same wood burning stove they used to cook their meals. After her mother had fallen sick, her father’s enthusiasm for the project had petered out – like it had done for most things.

Rachel sat down on the old leather sofa, allowing herself a wry smile as she spotted the same mug of tea she had been enjoying as she waited for the taxi all those months ago. She remembered flapping back and forth before deciding there was insufficient time to give it a rinse out. The fact that it still sat there was further evidence that John hadn’t been back. The place was cold. Rachel rubbed the tops of her arms and then her thighs, as she suddenly realised how icy it felt. While mainland Schottia wasn’t particularly cold, the old, crypt-like walls of Arniston Castle took a fair bit of penetrating. It had been an oppressively humid thirty-two degrees when she left Port Christopher yesterday. Kirston Union normally had evening training sessions, as the midday heat was unbearably, especially for the mainland Schottic and Brenecian contingent.

Rachel walked across and inspected the inside of the kettle for spiders, before putting it on. She made sure to let the water run for a full five minutes to give the pipes a good flushing through. In that time she heaved open the iron door to the stove, and began raking out the stone cold ashes. There were a couple of cobweb covered logs still in the basket, and the inner section of an old newspaper, dated back to before her father had taken his life.

With a fire going and a cup of instant coffee clutched between her hands, Rachel retreated to the kitchen table and was alone. An eighteen-year-old orphan. She was only half an hour in the door, and already wondered why she had even come back. Union provided her with a clean, modern apartment in the City of Port Christopher. It had air-conditioning, a small shady balcony, and access to a pool. Why had she come back to this old pile of stone? The Sporting World Cup started in three weeks, so it wasn’t as if there was much point; all the same, it was as if she needed to see it. If anyone had asked, she would have told them she was the least likely person alive to give way to sentiment, but all the same, there was something immensely humbling about sitting in a house inhabited by your ancestors for over five hundred years. Her father was dead, meaning, had it not been for the Socialist Revolution in the 1920s, her brother would be the thirty-seventh Lord Arniston of Garalvale. Did that make her Lady Arniston..? Rachel had no clue what title she was currently missing out on. She wasn’t landed gentry; she was an orphan.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL UNDER-18 ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - MIXED

This is the eighth time that Abanhfleft will be participating in an international under-18 football competition. After the absolute disaster that was the 6th Under-18 World Cup in the Free Republics, everything about the Fleftic under-18 team has been dismantled. Few if any players from the team that failed to make it out of the group stage of the previous tournament. The manager, long-time servant that he was and having led Abanhfleft to four out of five finals, has been sacked for ignoring the warning signs showing that this was a team beginning to fall apart. Anyone who returns from the previous Under-18 World Cup roster is either very lucky or very talented, talented enough to not warrant an exclusion from the team. Fresh new team, fresh start, right?

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.5
Formation: 4-2-3-1 (This will be standard unless I change it through RPs)
Head coach: Vaughn Palladino (48 y/o, Abanhfleft)

Supposedly the best striker to ever come out of any Fleftic academy since Kevin Kelvin and Chelsea Stuart. How else can you explain the presence of the 14-year-old in previous Sporting World Cup and Di Bradini Cup squads? But what exactly makes him a good forward? Is it his silky smooth runs, his mad tekkers, or his unbelievable range from almost anywhere in the attacking half of the pitch? Or maybe all of it?

Velestria — The U-18 National Team
In the Midst of Champions...

The U18 national team is the most-successful of all the football programs the Velish Football Association runs, former world champions in the U18 era eight years ago, the team has of course seen rapid changes and development to the squad since then, Pierre Denton and his U18 regime that presided over failed runs during the 7th Sporting World Cup is gone, instead as the feeder for the U21, the U18 have gone with running a smaller scale version of the senior team, bringing in Al Gunthers, manager of Battlebrook United as the U18 manager, his attacking style fits well with the team which relies on speed and shot-creators for the team. The Junior Gryphons aren’t expected to challenge as heavyweights seem to be more active in the proving grounds for their young players, (i.e. Starblaydia, Schottia, Cosumar, etc.), but Velestria is looking to see the team make some quiet noise.

Team & Tactical Information
It’s been an interesting two week selection camp and it was clear some players weren’t going to be available for both the U18 and the upcoming Di Bradini Cup in March, likewise it was decided in order to bring the team up to strength a lot of players from the team academies in LigVezia Series A would see their first time donning the international kit for Velestria in hopes of developing to later appear for the national team. The biggest name that stands out is 18 year old Morgan Iyyrivia who also has caps with the senior side, Iyyrivia is expected to see a lot of play time during the Sporting World Cup is also expected to see some four minutes during the Campionato Esportiva later in June, 421, there’s some questions she’s going to look to answer during the tournament, can she be a good feeder to the pure strikers up front? Can she create key chances for the team to move forward? There’s some concern that her small stature will see her struggle with the taller youths on the field, we saw this even when Velestria took on Tulize last month, even in the 2-nil victory over the unranked nation, Iyyrivia struggled at times and lost the majority of her aerial duals. Other players to look out include Terry Hunters, the 16 year old goal keeper with Birnin Zana Academy of BirninZula F.C., Hunters gave up 17 goals the entire season, nearly half lower than the second lowest number, he’s going to be a major piece in this team; another person on the rise, Thomas Cooks, looks like he’s developing into a strong defender with the Calix City U21s.

    Style modifier: +3
    Usual formation: 4-3-3
Tactical breakdown: John Murray is the national team assistant manager. He’s also the U21 and U18 manager and coordinator in charge of implementing the senior team system with the youth and developing/emerging players, in his first game in charge with the national team (U18 of course!), he’s going to have some unknown and new players emerging through the competition. The U18 World Cup has been a pipeline for emerging talent that usually fizzled out by the senior stage, Murray’s come to change that and break that down. Emerging in a 4-3-3, the four-in-the-back is a big shift for youth teams and the national team landscape all-around, no Velish side has went with the 4-in-the-back set-up ever, sure it’s a common sight in LigVezia, but there’s no clear LCB or RCB that’s emerged within the domestic or international scene for Velestria which is likely to be used. John Murray however has said that the 4-3-3 is the move towards revitalizing the national team, pointing out to his friend and senior national team manager Jane Gullie’s track record with Schottia – able to take them to a few World Cups and leading a Schottian league side to the Champions Cup finals. “We have the players to do something similar to what we did with Schottia, Velestria is traditionally an emerging powerhouse in youth football, a trophy is already seen eight years ago, we can build on that and bring another one home for Velestria.”

Al Juno Gyzhon — The Junior Gryphons

STARTING ELEVEN

GK – #1 Terry Hunters; Birnin Zana Academy [VLZ], 18 Caps: – / Clean sheets: –
GK – #12 William Carver; A.C. 317 Roses Youth Academy [VLZ], 17 Caps: – / Clean sheets: –
GK – #23 Abe Killson; Calix City Youth [VLZ], 17 Caps: – / Clean sheets: –

Terry Hunters by the time he’s 21 will be with a big club in Velestria, that’s three years from now but by then he won’t be a mainstay on the senior team because the Chris Banker-Diamond Gregory tandem will have the keeper spot on lock down but Hunters can very well be in considered for the third spot by then. Hunters was lights out this season, putting up big numbers with allowing only 17 goals as his junior club trucked their ways to the league title in the Junior Championship. On the other side, William Carver has fought his way into a spot for the Roses in the Junior Championship, he’s not a big name but by the time he fully develops he should be a good player, the only problem is when he has the ball at his feet he shits himself and messes up the flow for the backline. If Velestria is in firm position to move on to the knockouts he’ll probably start MD 3. Abe Killson is the last choice because he has lightning-quick reflexes, but he needs to learn distribution, his is terrible.

LB – #2 Jill Martin; Birnin Zana Academy [VLZ], 18 Caps: – / Goals: –
LCB – #3 Ash Dudley; OBC Academy [VLZ], 16 Caps: – / Goals: –
RCB – #4 Tyson Halliburton; Aquatarius Academy [VLZ], 18 Caps: – / Goals: –
RB – #5 Carz Horton; Calix City Youth [VLZ], 18 Caps: – / Goals: –

LB – #13 Jeela Haden; Crownian Royale [VLZ], 18 Caps: – / Goals: –
LCB – #14 Kade Laurelstone; Accounting Village School [VLZ], 15 Caps: – / Goals: –
RCB – #15 Benjamin Storing; Allaway School [VLZ], 16 Caps: – / Goals: –
RB – #16 Dade Harkenns; Sir Jaulle Bentley School [VLZ], 15 Caps: – / Goals: –

Jill Martin at this point could very well make the first team roster for BirninZula F.C. next season for the Warriors as they continually struggle in Series A, in addition she has shown that she’s internationals ready, light years ahead of Series C player, Jeela Harden who’s the second LB on the team, Martin might be good for a struggling team to pick up next season and might hit the market if Voula Logothettis feels that Martin isn’t the right fit in Birnin Zula. Ash Dudley partners with her despite a subpar performance in Junior Championship play, probably because his father’s on the VFA board and a big person, Dudley is a talent though and despite sloppy play had moments of brilliance throughout the season. Tyson Halliburton makes the team strong, with strong links, he should be able to gel with Carz Horton easily, they have similar styles and can play any position on the backline, hopefully they work well together. Carz Horton looks likes a bright spot for the future of Blue Strike Calix, but I don’t think BS Calix is looking for another back right now. Jeela Harden has played 7 games last season or Crownian Royale in Series C, she and Crownian Royale were promoted to Series B and they have an upward battle ahead of them. Storing and Harkenns played at their schools and need to keep their head down, they’ve gotten a chance to show their ready to continue and become a mainstay with the junior teams.

LM – #6 Patrick Daton-Hall; A.C. 317 Roses Academy [VLZ], 18 Caps: – / Goals: –
CM – #7 Morgan Iyyrivia; Avispa Orelans [VLZ], 18 Caps: 5 / Goals: 1 ©
RM – #8 Haley McGregor; Peterstown City Vale [VLZ], 15 Caps: – / Goals: –

LM – #17 Yedley Rivers; CLoudshire U15 [VLZ], 15 Caps: – / Goals: –[/b]
CM – #16 Angel Douglas; Southampshire City Monarchs Youth [VLZ], 15 Caps: – / Goals: –
RM – #17 Laile Lovestone; Alther Curant [VLZ], 17 Caps: – / Goals: –

Apparently Morgan Iyyrivia doesn’t want to play in the DI Bradini Cup, opting instead to appear for the U18 side and play with the juniors at the Sporting World Cup, she’s the biggest name out of a mostly unknown group of individuals, and we don’t really know what the rest have to offer. Iyyrivia had herself a productive season with Avispa Orleans, but despite her best efforts she finds herself likely playing on loan next season, this being because Avispa Orleans failed to stay up and are going back down to Series B. Iyyrivia as the team’s bright spot will be going out on loan looking to be productive next season. She also picked up ten goals in her name. The rest of the line for the midfield is pretty threadbare and not much is really known.

LW – #9 Christian Saverton; A.C. 317 Roses Academy [VLZ], 18 Caps: – / Goals: –
CF – #10 Don Dately; Birnin Zula Academy [VLZ], 18 Caps: – / Goals: –
RW – #11 Joe Vell-Pierre; Rivers Town U16 Vale [VLZ], 16 Caps: – / Goals: –

LW – #20 O’ Gavaso; Cloudshire U15 [VLZ], 15 Caps: – / Goals: –[/b]
CF – #21 Davis Careunth; Patricktown United [VLZ], 17 Caps: – / Goals: –
RW – #22 Adalia; Barternsouth Citadel F.C. [VLZ], 18 Caps: – / Goals: –

A bunch of unknowns who can score goals?
Interesting.

(OOC: Since I want to tie up some loose ends from Hearts of Vice and Red Wagon, this post is one of two from a double feature. If you want to know the context of Hearts of Vice, the last post can be found here if you want to see some past posts. Without further ado, here's Chapter 11.)

Hearts of Vice

Chapter 11: The Transition

I was still in a bitchy mood that night, as I trying to not down a bottle of pomegranate juice at the bar. Charlie probably was in her room by the way I saw it was the afternoon. As I went back to my room, I tried to make sure that I saved some face while I was near the band, so Brenda didn't get worried. Charlie must have gotten her clothes back on at that point, as all of us regrouped at Gerald's suite that he was sleeping in. All of us had suites, but I decided to meet up at Gerald's. The whole band was talking all about what they did at the boardwalk, where I chimed in when Tony managed the incident near the coast.

"So what happened at the coast? Some patrol units were swarming the place." Tony said, where Jessica immediately knew it was talking about. "Just a public disturbance. Nothing to get your hopes up." Jessica lied to get the topic away from discussion. "But it's on the online Truth News article."
"Look, we're not here to talk about news. If they mentioned my name, it's just gossip." Jessica added, thinking it would work. "I'm getting kind of homesick already. When are we heading back to the studio?" Frank asked Jessica. "Not yet. I'm still want to enjoy a bit of a vacation here. Besides, I want to mingle with some people, get autographs, that kind of stuff."

"I heard Jason Masami is here for a sporting event." Gerald said. "Yeah, I already meet him while I was outside. I figured I get a meet-up with him to see what's he planning on doing. If he's available, I can bring him along with the ride."
"Where's Charlie, by the way?"
"She's resting. A bit of a chaotic day today."

The moment he literally said that, I knew that Brenda told him about what happened with Charlie. Don't say I didn't assume it, I knew because Brenda and Gerald are the ones that check tabs on me to make sure I don't glass someone by accident. I wanted to politely tell Gerald that I deal with her, later. But I guess I gotta tell him directly.

After we finished up discussing the events of today, I had Gerald let me stay in his suite, so I can have a chat with him over Charlie. "So what is it that you want me to talk about?" Gerald asked me. "I know you want me to deal with Charlie. I'm not firing her, you know." Jessica said, as she had her arms crossed. "I saw the article that Tony mentioned. Someone is trying to give us some gossip. They mentioned you, but they tried to interview Charlie. If it wasn't for me, we would have been screwed." Gerald told Jessica, where she looked out of the window. "Was it some ex-Sporting World writers? I heard that the Foreign Imports despises them. Even the Leader thinks his own propaganda is better than them."
"No. It's our own Truth News. They getting bored. The crank file crap."
"If I see one of them trying to annoy Charlie, I punch them."
"No violence, please."

"Look! She was just trying to fish! I'm not familiar with this demon shit, but it was just an incident! People will just forget about it! Give it a day and no one will care! For fuck's sake, people literally ignore the important stuff on the news in a matter of a week!" Jessica told Gerald, as she was getting annoyed. "Well, I just want to make sure you don't get embarrassed about what happens."
"Gerald, I want Jessica to stay with us! I can make sure she doesn't cause trouble. She can be civilized like everyone else."
"Civilized? Who said everyone can be civilized."
"You don't need to be human to be civilized, Gerald. I just want to make her feel happy."

"Happy? Are you two trying to start a friendship together?"

And then, out of sheer pure moronic idiocy, I just went in a bit of a rant.

"Oh please. I.. I figured that she was available ok? If you thinking I'm getting a bit of love from being near Masami, I was only viewing him as a friend. He acknowledges this, by the way. I'm not interested in doing a dinner date with some guy, because I'm not into men. I wanted to be public about it, but you know how it is with people judging you! But I made sure that my image wasn't some drug-addicted slut who goes into one night stands in the backseat of their tour bus! I guess you can call me a lesbian, though I done men before around the age I was. But I thought that I knew what I was doing with Colin and....AGHH!" Jessica couldn't even mentioned her other ex-boyfriend's name, since she knew it would just bring out the worst in her. "But how does Jessica tie into this?" Gerald said, when he heard a knock at the door, which Jessica didn't seem to notice, as she was starting to ramble.

"She's hot, ok! I'm the only one that sees the good in her! Ok, I may think she has good breasts and some legs to spare, but I'm admire her strength! She probably does have a boyfriend or some shit, yet I'm attracted to her! I just want to see her happy! Anything to give her a smile! She probably was so alone by herself, I needed to make sure that I gave her purpose, just like all of us!"
"Jessica.."
"And so what if someone tries to get news about my sex-crazed shit that I think up in my dreams when I'm passed out at night! I'm onto chicks with muscles and she can lift tons with ease! I'm not trying to act like a pervert where I wanted to drool over her! The more I think about it, I think monsters are probably fucking awesome! I still not over the fact that some guy got eaten directly next to me, but she saved my fucking life!
"Jessica..!"
"Plus, let's not forget that there is more fucked-up shit that happens in Main Nation Ministry than what happens in the nation, than just some bullshit gossip tabloid shit show to kill some boredom! If they tried to paint me as some nympho, I make sure that they don't harass me and my own fans with some bullshit that they pulled out of their ass, because-"
"Jessica!"
"What?!" Jessica immediately turned to Gerald, until she noticed the suite door was open. And out of sheer luck was Charlie herself, looking extremely dumbfounded at what she just heard.
Image
"Eekkk! Uhh.. I can explain!"
"I..umm. All I wanted to say was that Brenda told me to remind you about the fireworks tonight. I figured you would be interested?" Charlie asked, where she herself didn't know how to process the scene.
"Oh I see...It's best you head to bed, Charlie. I'm just a little worked up. That's all." Jessica tried to make an excuse.
"Can I?" Charlie asked Gerald, which he responded with "Yeah".

After that clusterfuck and after Charlie went to bed, I wrapped it up with Gerald and I went to my room for the night. I laid in my bed, feeling embarrassed since Charlie just watched me throw a damn fit in front of her, without me realizing it. The good news is I didn't have a meltdown in my own bedroom, but I felt extremely miserable. I didn't know what Charlie would do. She probably thought I was drunk, though she would probably quit her job, since she figure I'm crazy. I heard the fireworks that Brenda had took Charlie, though I was starting to get tired. That was when I heard a knock on the door.

"Ughh.. Who is it? If it's Gerald, I swear.." Jessica walked to the door to stare through the peep hole. It was Charlie, standing with her hands behind her back. A bit hesitant at first, Jessica opened the door to see what she wants. "I didn't mean to wake you or anything." Charlie said, nervously seeing how Jessica looked tired. "I know. Fireworks."
"Not just that. I just wanted to apologize for what happened several minutes ago. Didn't mind to come across that conversation, since it was important."
"Oh don't blame yourself. What you should have been apologizing was the incident at the beach."
"I already said sorry, so.."
"Ehh, just come in here. I need to freaking rest." Jessica asked Charlie, as they moved to the bedroom, where Jessica lay on the bed, while Charlie sat at the foot of the bed, as the moonlight was coming into the room.

"You probably thought I was being crazy with what I said. If you think I'm was on drugs, I wasn't." Jessica explained to Charlie.
"Actually, I can barely tell what you were discussing at all. Gerald opened the door, where you were saying that you wanted me to be happy and having a fetish for muscle girls?"
"You really didn't hear that first bit?"
"If there was, I didn't hear it."
"Look, Charlie.." Jessica took a moment to explain herself towards Charlie.

"You see, I know you're probably have a boyfriend or whatever, but... I'm into you. I think I'm interested in doing monsters, but I noticed you at the gym and thought you seemed amazing. When I saw you at the diner, I thought you would be interested in the job, so the whole demon crisis thing was happening. As I got to know you, I thought about how lonely you probably were. I mean, I'm practically around your age, but I wanted to give you some actual love. You probably see me as your boss, but I'm trying to help you learn stuff around here. Plus, I just want to make sure you weren't lonely.... Like I was.."
"Jessica, I don't know what to say." Charlie said, starting to blush. "If you think I'm a succubus for you to attracted in me, I'm actually different. I been to Hell to know that they break hearts, but I'm technically not one of them. Hearing that you're attracted to me is interesting. I mean, I did have some love back in the past, but that was years ago."
"I can help give you some, if you like."
"Jessica?"
"Yes, Charlie?"
"You think you can do that?"

"I can."
"Even if I'm technically a monster?"
"Charlie, I don't care what you look like under that disguise. All I want to do is to see you happy. I'm being interested to you, so that's what truly matters. I know people based on their personality. And I know that you're is somewhat innocent."

Charlie smiled at that response, where she leaned down to hug Jessica briefly. The sounds of fireworks can be heard outside, where both of them took notice. "You sure you going to rest easy?" Charlie asked her. "I can. I see you tomorrow." Jessica smiled, as she felt more relieved.

After Charlie left the room, she went down the hallway to contemplate about Jessica's feelings towards her. Of course, Jessica doesn't know about her past, but Charlie wanted to have another chance. Even if she was vulgar, Charlie felt something from Jessica she realized was absent from someone a long time ago. Jessica actually cared. While Charlie didn't know about Jessica's personal battles, Charlie thought about Jessica again and started to smile. It wouldn't hurt to try something different.

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. TULIZE NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM U-18
18-Player Squad for Sporting World Cup 8

Major thanks to Kita-Hinode for the TFA crest.
All starred players are selected for the senior WCQ campaign due to take place later.

Team Info
Team formation: 4-4-2
Team colours: Black and Cyan
Style modifier: +2
Team manager: Jon Merritt (Qasden)
Team nickname (U18): The Cygnets
Team philosophy: Mirroring the national senior side's style of play that the new manager in charge of all national football sides of Tulize, Jon Merritt favours, the Cygnets will be playing a possessional 4-4-2 style of play to try and bring out the best out of the skills of the young guns in this edition of the Sporting World Cup, with a vision to probably rope in players other than the 5 already selected from this pool for the national squad. It remains to be seen how the newly-brought philosophy helps the team.

Manager Info
JM |
Jon MERRITT Image
Having led the Qasdonian national side to a qualification to the 79th World Cup proper, and two Cup of Harmony titles, Jon Merritt has done great things for his own national team in his managerial stint from WC76 to 80. Playing a classic style of 4-4-2, the new gaffer appointed for all national sides believes in possessional football over most other things, and is "here to change the game" in Tulize, in his own words. With rumour around the country discussing his relationship with the media coming to the fore, Merritt quickly waved off the speculations saying he has "a good working relationship" with the media, and is "fully focused" on the national team tasks at hand. While the enthusiasm is certainly encouraging, it remains to be seen where Merritt can take the Cygnets, the Rebels and the top Swans in the future.

Squad Info
#1 |
Omar BURGESS, M, GK, 17, Wrendiff FC
The only Wrendiff FC player to make it to any national squad this season, Burgess is the first-choice goalie for the Tulizean U-18 side, however, hotly competed by Lewis not far behind him. A large build and quick reflexes make for him to be the front-runner in the squad. He will, however, be switched with Lewis every few matches to keep the experience seeping through into the depth of the squad.

#13 |
Darla LEWIS, F, GK, 16, Quimmont United
In a situation where she believes she is only second to Burgess in the run to be the last guard under the three sticks, Darla Lewis is also a product of the Quimmont United academy. Having what we shall call affluent parents, Darla travelled all the way from Arcridge on the foothills to the capital to learn her football. The money, however, brought with it an immense sense of attitude and a tendency to get into controversial situations.

#2 |
Cory LUCAS*, M, LB/LW, 18, Quimmont United
Hailing from the most fabled academy of the nation, Cory Lucas has always been under the spotlight of the scouts ever since he first joined Quimmont United at the age of six. Rising quickly through the age-group competitions, Lucas has impressed scouts consistently for a while now. With Tulize opening up to international communication including sports, it remains to be seen what this promising left wing specialist can bring to the table for the national team.

#5 |
Tasha JENNINGS*, F, LB/CB, 16, Trifgate City
The young Tasha Jennings, is one of the first choice left-backs for club and country (including the senior team) at the tender age of 16! You'd be very mistaken to judge by her rather lean build, as the youngster can sweep almost anybody off their feet - albeit in a rather unpleasant way. Reports say, she isn't even sorry!

#8 |
Victor BATES, M, CB, 16, Quimmont United
In what seems to be a rather blatant show-off of their best-in-class training facilities, Quimmont United have another U18 in Victor Bates representing them at the international level for Tulize. Born and brought up in the capital itself, Bates was initially interested in badminton, until the never-ending craze for football in the city grasped him and never let go. Very solid on both feet, Bates is superb in ball distribution and helps maintain a steady ship at the back of the park.

#4 |
Clay CURTIS, M, RB, 15, Arcridge FC
Curtis flies the Arcridge colours high, as the second youngest member of the Tulizean U18 squad and a right-back the entire squad can depend on. With a powerful right footer, and a blistering pace down the flank, Curtis a force to reckon with. Having played for various regional and age-group sides under various managers apart from his own academy and club manager at Arcridge, Curtis is known for being a positive influence on squad harmony and bonding, besides being the manager's favourite. These, however, still fail to secure him a solid place in the starting line-up, as he waits in queue behind Cathull's Eloise Keller for his opportunity.

#3 |
Eloise KELLER, F, RB/LB, 16, Cathull Rangers
Being the only Cathull player in the national team fray for any age-group, Eloise Keller is without a doubt the Cathull MVP. Being a local of the area, she is absolutely loved by Cathull fans and is a regular topic of discussion in the pubs and squares where people meet, grab a coffee or a drink, talk politics and sport, and vent their anger, in general. One such reason for the dismay of the Cathull people is her exclusion from the senior national squad, as they believe Keller is a keeper, and will be one to watch out for in the years to come!

#6 |
Heidi DAWSON*, F, LW, 18, Eighby Palace
Another U18 national team star, thanks to the newly-appointed Merritt, Dawson is the skipper for the Sporting U18 World Cup and is the most respected player in terms of age and experience in the U18 squad. The pundits believe that the Eighby Palace winger will be key to Tulizean success in the U18 World Cup and the U18WC in turn, will be a key sphere for her to increase her international experience before the Baptism of Fire and the World Cup Qualifiers roll around.

#16 |
Nick BELL, M, LW/RW, 16, Royburgh FC
An indigenous product of the Royburgh FC academy, Nick Bell will be an important future addition to the left wing for the Tulizean NT at the U18 level, with both skipper Dawson and Lucas graduating from this squad to the U21 and senior levels, which they are already a part of. The scouts have an eye on this one, a very young, talented lad.

#10 |
Noah FERNANDEZ*, M, CM, 16, Quimmont Rovers
The central midfielder from the Rovers, Noah Fernandez is the youngest player to play both for the under-18s, and the national team. How ridiculous does that sound? Well, if you ask footie-heads in Tulize, not very much. Easily deemed the finest talent that the country has produced in recent times. With the manager focusing more on youth players to more suit his style of play to "bring the team up to international standards", Fernandez will only have a greater role to play in the upbringing of the style of play the gaffer wants at the senior stage. As of now, he's definitely one to look out for in the middle of the pitch, spraying balls around and creating the play. This also means he's a spot of envy in the city of Quimmont as the rivals in United and Rovers are already vying for his name on their shirt. If this youngster thrives or succumbs under the immense pressure, and high-money involvement, remains to be seen.

#21 |
Tyler MORAN, M, CM/RW, 18, Trifgate City
The central midfielder and occasional right-winger, Tyler Moran from Trifgate City is a fairly good addition to the bench strength of this Tulizean U18 squad which has very evidently gone for a very middle heavy selection, with an entire range of central midfielders. While it remains to be seen if Tyler makes it regularly to the first XI, pundits all over the country would be following her ever-so-keenly, given the fact that she will be a key player for Trifgate in the very near future.

#18 |
Lynne MAY, F, CM, 18, Xissey FC
The only Xissey FC player to make it to any Tulizean national side, Lynne May will be graduating from the U18 team right after the end of this World Cup cycle, and this will be her last Sporting World Cup. It will be very important for her to break into the starting XI as much as possible, as performance here might help her break into the squad for the Baptism of Fire or maybe even the World Cup Qualifiers! A lot rides on her efforts here, and May definitely knows it.

#33 |
Patti WILLIS, F, CM/CB, 18, Sieville FC
A natural prowess in ball distribution and creation of play makes Patti Willis an important part of the Sieville squad, as well as the Tulize U18 team. Proficient in both the central midfielder and centre-back positions, the 18-year-old is equally comfortable with the ball on both legs. It is still a matter of great debate whether or not she gets to play enough in what would be her last U18 World Cup - but being the person Willis is, we shouldn't be too taken aback if we see a few surprises here and there throughout the campaign.

#26 |
Lydia JIMENEZ, F, CM/AM, 15, Quimmont United
Another one coming out of the Quimmont United academy, and the last of our central midfielders, Jimenez is another young gun vying for a spot in the side. While it is very unlikely that he might get a spot in the starting XI anytime soon, he still has another three Sporting World Cups to go; and the scouts are keeping an eye on this very promising youngster. With a majorly attacking mind-set, Jimenez may later prove to be quite an important player for the team, stylistically.

#7 |
Warren MORALES*, M, RW, 16, Quimmont Rovers
A home-grown talent from Quimmont Rovers, Morales has already been called up for the senior national team, but will have to do his duties for the age-group side as well. Considering versatility, Morales isn't someone who'd be on the top of your list, but a skilful right foot and silky touches on the ball are only accessories to his breezy pace on the ball. Definitely the top choice for the Tulizean right wing, Morales is here to stun.

#9 |
Sheri TAYLOR*, F, AM/MC/ST, 17, Treicester Town
Treicester Town has nurtured a player who is now being deemed to be the 'one to look up to' and 'the most versatile Tulizean player of our time': it is Sheri Taylor. Finding herself at ease at every position from attacking midfielder to a midfield maestro to a prolific striker, Taylor is one of the biggest talking points of the entire Tulize U18 squad. With another two years left under her belt, Taylor is here to stay and make a mark: and a lot of Tulizean hopes depend on her and her sheer talent.

#11 |
Sam PORTER, M, ST, 17, Oilstead Revolt
The only Oilstead player to make it into the U18 squad itself, Sam Porter has been identified as a stallion for the longer race. With absolutely no doubt that he will be a top choice for the side for this edition of the SWC itself, but probably also for the next one. An innate sense of positioning puts him in good stead with the rest of the squad comprising of quality play-makers to supply him the balls upfront. Question is, can they deliver?

#15 |
Jane LINDSEY, F, ST, 17, Quimmont United
Lindsey from Quimmont United round up our squad list for the SWC: aged 17, she is one of the many prides that the academy has supplied to various age groups of the national side. A scintillating left-footer paired with almost psychic anticipation and game-reading make her play a thing of beauty. While it remains to be seen how competition between both starlets in Porter and Lindsey turn out upfront, pundits agree that it will only be to Tulizean gain.

Setting is the Banijan team training facility in Petrograd, Plymouth

Kiggwe Siakam, the 51 year old manager, was relishing at the opportunity that had been given to him here- for the first time in years, he had the opportunity to be a manager in his own right. As a player, Kiggwe Siakam had an alright career, but never did anything too special, playing in the days when the regional leagues were dominant, before the establishment of a national league system. Siakam had come from humble beginnings, and he was slowly climbing that ladder, that ladder towards the one thing he desired the most- the respect of his peers.

In competitive youth football, it is so much about the manager, and a quality tournament can launch a career. Look at his own boss, the manager of the senior side, Marcus Waters. The Equestrian, after managing on the club level in the Equestrian States, took the job as the senior assistant manager and the Youth Development Director, managing the U21 side to a third place finish at the U21 World Cup. And when the senior job unexpectedly opened up, he leapt himself at the opportunity, and now is one of the most powerful men in the sport in the country, very secure in his position as the manager of the Kadongo Kamu. And yet, is following quite a different path to his point of view.

As a player, Siakam had quite a bit of potential, but he never seemed to reach it. He was a superstar striker in College, as the striker actually won a gold medal in the 100 meter sprint at the Commonwealth Games as an 18 year old. After spending just one year at Wild Valley University, he went to the pros, and played for a variety of Moravica clubs- from Eastern Moravica FC, to Suwawa FC, and quite a few other smaller ones. The gold medalist’s career never panned out as a professional, and by 29, he had retired. He still had a passion for the game, however, but Siakam did something that he had promised his mother he would do- going back to school and finishing his degree.

He went to Wild Valley University, and by 32, he had a degree in sports management. Where was the city boy going to go now? Soon after he had finished, he got a call from his old high school, all the way in Kinyarwanda- a village in the far North of Moravica, the northern most high school in the region. He was asked to be the school’s athletic director, and the head coach of both the men’s and women’s varsity teams. What was he to do? Go back to the village, to the village of his birth, and ply his trade there? Going back to a place that he had worked so hard to leave? The opposite of everything modern?

He ended up going and taking that job. At a small school like that, naturally, he wore many hats. Athletic Director, coach of two different teams, the on hand substitute teacher- he stayed for four years, and he worked his butt off. Staying in the village, he found a wife and got married- and had beautiful twin sons. What a learning experience that was. Taking boda bodas to games. Being one of the few people in the village with a car of his own, taking players to practices and games himself. But as he struggled in this far from glamorous position, he learned something that he would believe to be extremely important to his own career prospects- perseverance.

When he was 36 years old, he got a call from a school that had noticed him, this time, at the University level. Would he like to be the strikers coach at the University of Moravica? He, of course, would say yes to jump on this opportunity, and naturally, became the strikers coach for the women’s team at that school for two years. He then was hired as the manager when the manager of the school’s team retired, and with him in charge, the University of Moravica reached new heights. He ended up managing the team for 5 years- and his final two years, they went to back to back national title games, where they were downed by Kizza I College and the Univeristy of Ankole, respectively. Still, he had taken the rural University from an also-ran to a powerhouse, and his recruits were getting noticed. Many thought he’d be a candidate for one of the “big two” college sports jobs in Banija- Loyola-Istria, or Northern Moravica. But right when the Northern Moravica job opened up, he got a call from an unexpected source- Herzegovina City FC.

He was asked to be the Director of Scouting for Herzegovina City FC, the country’s biggest club. He said yes, of course. And the first big signing that he recommended, the first big money signing Herzegovina City ever had on the international market, ended up changing the face of the franchise forever- bringing on Aaron Aiza, the national team winger for the Equestrian States. He, of course, was an unmitigated success, and now is tearing it up for Hondo FC in Valanora. His eye for spotting talent elsewhere led to a number of key signings for Herzegovina City FC, which in turn, when Kolt Freegan left for Taeshan and Brian Emerson was hired, for Siakam to get hired back on the coaching side. Brian Emerson made him the strikers coach at the club.

He has found a solid career at Herzegovina City. While, of course, Herzegovina City’s strength has always been in their midfielders, his work at the club has seen his own game greatly improve. Coming as now part of the Emerson coaching tree, he had, for the first time, an internationally renowned manager to learn from- and boy, did he eat up that information. Emerson had done a remarkable job at keeping the coaching staff together throughout his years at Herzegovina City, that stability key to the success of the club that they’ve had in the Emerson years. But Siakam took notes, studied Emerson’s habits, from game planning, to squad selection, to man management, to training sessions- Siakam knew that he had an opportunity to learn from the best, and wanted to gain that information.

Even when other teams came knocking, he told them no. When Corizova United came after Season 7, offering him the head job, he told them no- he still wanted to be under Brian Emerson’s tutelage. When, after Season 8, he got a job offer from another regional league side, the answer was the same- he wanted to stay here. But when the RBSA signed up for its first ever Sporting World Cup, Marcus Waters knew that he needed to find a coach. And he dialed up the phone back, and how was Siakam going to say no to a chance to coach the national team?

So, of course, after Matchday 24 of Season 9, with Herzegovina City well in route to what is possibly their third title in four seasons, Siakam left the club and flew down to Busukuma, to join the national team. He spent the rest of the season, of course, scouting- what players would he want to put in his 23? And Siakam, becoming a head man for the first time in almost 10 years, relished the opportunity that was in front of him.

He knew, that crossing the age 50 barrier, the time for him to go back into being an assistant was done. It was time for him to show what he’s got- he wanted to be a top manager, and this was quite the opportunity. He felt that the Banijans had a good a chance as any at success here in the Federation of Free Republics, with players like Mzukisi Nzo and Ablan Jaye. But could the manager ride a successful Sportign World Cup and have it be the relaunch of his managerial career, after 3.5 seasons of learning from the most decorated manager in BSL history? Or, of course, would this high stakes gamble fail? Only time would tell, of course, but Siakam was ready for what was possibly the biggest moment of his professional life.

One goal, just like before
Starblaydia aim for repeat of Equestrian States glory

In the beautiful, tropical region of Falatulu in the southern Free Republics, Starblaydia's youngest competitive side will have to keep their minds on the game if they're to even get out of the Group at the 8th Sporting World Cup. A whole host of delights await both players and fans on the islands and can easily distract even the most focused of professionals, and you have to wonder if the group draw happened to magically put the defending champions in this group on purpose.

Hosts. Champions. A nation in the senior top 30, and one in the top 70. This is about as difficult as a group at the Under-18 World Cup gets, so if Starblaydia can get out of it, then the sky's the limit as to how far Ázëwyn Fëanáro's team can go in the competition. Becoming the first side to retain this trophy, in an environment of even more turbulence than the Under-21s, would certainly stamp the seal of approval on the joint vision of Fëanáro and the Starblaydi Football Association. They're definitely building something special, those Elves. Masters of the 44th and 47th World Cups, ex-players like Fëanáro herself; the momentary former President of the World Cup Committee Tororin Halatyrion now returned to his primary post of President of the SFA; and even Starblaydi record international goalscorer and former Krytenia manager, Valrauncion.

Dixon Light Group C - Starblaydia fixtures
MD1: Juvencus v Starblaydia
MD2: Starblaydia v Oberour Ar Moro
MD3: Free Republics v Starblaydia

First up is Juvencus, who Starblaydia have actually only faced once in the 41st Di Bradini Cup. Coincidentally enough this was eighteen years ago, with Starblaydia running out 4-2 victors in their only win of that campaign. Fitting as it is that almost none of the players competing in this opening match will have even been born at that point, there's essentially no history to point to in order to determine the outcome of this match. Starblaydia's recent championship victory and larger fan and media presence are the only way of judging this, so perhaps it's an opening day win for the team in white and purple.

Oberour Ar Moro, too, are a team Starblaydia have only ever faced at Under-21 level before, earning a 1-1 draw in the 44th Di Bradini Cup. This match was notable for seeing the first goal at international youth level of Sutter McCloud, just a 16 year old substitute at the time, who would go on to score in every round of the 7th Sporting World Cup as Starblaydia were crowned Under-18 Champions. McCloud, now 21, has given his tips and encouragement to the current team, showing them with his own deeds just how far they can go if they have the desire and courage to perform to the best of their capabilities. This ultra-attacking 4-3-3, with the line led by Peter des Bouz, will be looking to dominate against the much more balanced Starblaydi 4-4-2, and this match will be an interesting tussle between Fëanáro and John Cristaliere in their technical boxes.

Starblaydia's final group game will be against the hosts, Free Republics. Although they've never won the tournament, created and sponsored by the Free Republic's own Sporting World, this will be their fourth home attempt to do so. What odds on a crunch showdown with Starblaydia to determine the fate of the group in a box office smash, or what odds on one team already eliminated and the other already qualified to make this a dead rubber?

The nature of the Under-18 game, with new players constantly coming in or aging out of the squads, makes predictions naturally a very shaky proposition when it comes to the premier Under-18 international tournament in existence. So far Oberour Ar Moro may be the biggest challenge, but Free Republics will doubtless come out strong towards the end of this group phase as they have home support behind them. That just leaves the Juvencus match, which at this point is probably a coin-flip. Starblaydia's players, led by their captain and main striker Edwin Deacy, will jsut have to trust that their management team has trained and prepared them right for the upcoming matches - at least three, but hopefully seven.
