Personally I don't think "trap" is a slur when referring to a cross dressing male who wants to be seen that way.

However, referring to transwomen as "traps" can get us killed in certain situations. Take example a guy who doesn't know the person he's dating is transwoman and when she reveals herself to him as being trans during sex this man can legally kill the transwoman in "self defense" because it's seen as him getting tricked or, as the name suggests falling for a "trap". This is why transwomen cannot stand the term trap because it's a way to legally getting away with murdering us.

And if you don't believe me there are plenty of cases out there you can look up for yourself.

I walked with you, hand in hand, down the road of exactly why the fact someone announcing a word would offend them directly before they were called the word takes weight from the idea the word is typically or even often used to offend.
