I frankly find it quite shocking that every single "anti-establishment" far right demagogue keeps getting exposed as a corrupt fraudster who rails against the elites while leading luxurious lives on the elites' dime. Absolutely unexpected and unprecedented.

Another article calling rape "Had sex with" because the victim is a man.

It's a good job i'm not an influencer, because this would be where I whisper to discord chat to harass and threaten the journalist, his co-workers, and the editor while posting about how people are "talking to" these journalists and providing screencaps of the context and saying "Join the conversation and talk to them too.".

Maybe post a map of where they live and so on and say it's me "talking to them.".

Everyone, come talk to this journalist. Take an interest in their health and wellbeing. Send them gifts in the mail, here is their address and the address of their paper. Join them on their way to work along this route and walk home with them, regularly. Isn't language fun?

We all know journalists like to hear peoples opinions, give them yours. If they don't want them, then they are a disgusting freak with something wrong with them, and not representative of the norm obviously, because as we know, a journalist by definition wants stories and input and so on.

Join the conversation. Spread the word. Make sure everyone knows about this conversation going on, and how conversation is how we're going to frame it.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

And so May tries one last stab at securing her "deal", now with half-promised suggestions of a vote on whether to send the deal back to the public, and also inclusions for a "temporary common market thingymabob".
Correct me if I am wrong but this changed deal is not what was agreed already with the EU and will therefore need to be approved by them if it clears a potential public hurdle?

It's not uncommon.

You can google "had sex with" basically any day of the week, click on news, and hit one within the last 7 days.

It's not uncommon for it to go the other way too.

It might be some new editorial thing. Being balanced before a court case or something.

Also true.

It's almost complete the first way (with very very few exceptions, even for very small children), but it comes up the other way with fair regularity as well, particularly when the victim is 16 and up.

This is probably a discussion for its own thread, since we are bringing American sources in as rebuttal.

Anyhoo, Donald Tusk has just killed the twitching corpse that is change UK: https://news.sky.com/story/eu-elections ... k-11725377

And the Brexit party has reportedly blocked channel 4 from attending their rallies because of their allegations surrounding Farage getting donations from Aaron Banks. Seems like a bad idea to me. After all, Jon Snow gaffs at the Westminster rally was a gift to the party. On top of that, Channel 4 can now play the victim card. It's the same as no-platforming, they can claim they are being warriors for truth fighting against suppression. The Brexit party shoots themselves in the foot.

Tusk is clearly a secret LibDem supporter who wants to focus the pro-Remain vote on the largest of the UK-wide pro-Remain parties by destroying the competition.

Nice one, Donald. ;)

Incidentally, I'm now in Cairo, so have arranged for a proxy vote this week.

well, the whole celeb endorsement spiel hasn’t helped cuk so far, although maybe calling Gavin Esler a Celeb is too generous. Plus Tusk giving a leg up for his friend should be frowned upon... we are supposedly quite touchy about foreign involvement in the electoral process.

But maybe Tusk is just following the lead of change Uk who have done a spectacular job of sabotaging themselves.

Yet few people (outside of the usual suspects) seem to have noticed or cared that Guy Verhofstadt happily campaigned for the LibDems, urging Remainers to vote for the latter.

That was nearly two weeks ago, mind; a lifetime in current British politics, before the extent of the boost given to the LibDems by the local election was clear, before we knew just how inept Change UK would prove to be, before the Remain vote coalesced behind the LibDems, and before it looked possible that the LibDems might actually finish above Labour in this week's election.

That and I imagine your average British voter finds it easier to remember and spell Tusk's surname.

Change UK have been both incompetent and - to be fair - more than a little unlucky; but sometimes the two go hand in hand. The LibDems have been both cannier than Change UK (acknowledging the benefits of already having a party structure in place) and bit lucky; ditto.
