Kademan North Institution of Guard Heroes in Training, or K.N.I.G.H.T Academy has been training the finest knights on the continent of Kadema since 470, about 800 years ago. Each new student starts out with the rank of Squire, and are split into four houses known as Orders...each representing different values of a different knightly order. Each order is headed by a grand master, who serves as house master and guardian of the students under his charge. A seventh year student who proves their merit is captain, they report directly to the grand master and leads their younger brethren. Kinda like a prefect really.
As each student gains levels and experience, their ranks in their orders increase as they graduate from year to year. Of course, very few reach past the rank of knight until after they graduate, it's not impossible but ranks higher than marshall-at-arms are usually only earned through great deeds in battle. It could take years to work ones way up. However, it's not impossible to achieve such ranks when you're in school. Subjects, alongside the typical weapons training and military tactics also include armor/weapon care, smithing, physical education and the typical boring arithmetic of reading, writing and math. Yes, we're not going to have any dumb knights out here. Students will be sent on missions from time to time coming from the Queen herself, how you do in these missions will reflect on your grade...higher ranking students get harder missions.
Order Ranks:
Squire: The lowest rank, an apprentice knight. Usually helps the higher-ranking knights as assistants and does tasks such as feeding the horses or caring for weapons in exchange for training. Often accompanies their knight into the battlefield.
Knight- A knight that has earned their armor and sword, and as such completed their training. They are official knights, but not much else.
Marshall at-Arms- A knight that is in charge of all the weapons and armor for their order.
Commander: The head of a battalion of knights, they are allowed to lead a squad into battle and conduct missions.
Captain-General: The deputy head of an order, often responsible for leading the senior knights into battle. They often devise battle-plans with the grand masters.
Grand Master- The head of a knightly order, the highest rank that one can obtain.
Students' uniforms are a dove gray blouse and trousers with a sleeveless tunic in their order's livery colors while the order's symbol is on one sleeve of the blouse. The student may wear their own coat of arms on the other sleeve...armor is only to be worn during missions or sparring sessions and students are allowed to wear their normal clothes outside of class or on weekends. Full plate armor is only to be worn during battle and missions, in sparring sessions you wear light armor and mail. This school goes on for six years, beginning at age twelve with the graduating age usually being eighteen. At the end of each year, the senior students who have proven themselves will be knighted in an official graduation ceremony, something that the whole school turns out for.
If you think you have what it takes, I welcome you to the academy.
