Look, I've been more lax with the show than a lot of people for a while, but god. Season 8 really has just kind of left me with a feeling of disappointment, despite me absolutely loving aspects of various episodes.

He set up the whole thing, and I mean the whole thing - the threats from the White Walkers and the Night King. He was behind Bran being lured to his lair, where Bran was killed while Warging into Hodor. At that point, 3ER had warged into Bran's body, and he's been there ever since.

He's telling the truth when he later says "I'm not Bran anymore", but nobody seems to care or understand.

At any rate, he set the chain of events in motion, including spreading the information about Jon's heritage, knowing full well what that would do. His whole goal through the entire show - from the introduction to episode 1 - has been to get into this position. Hence why he accepts the Crown.

Question is why? I mean that's something that's never been explained. It would make sense that it's tied to strength, Dany was incredibly strong so it makes sense the Dragon's immunity runs in her, but the same could be said for John.

It's because Dany carries out a Blood Magic spell - unknowingly - when she hatches her dragon eggs and kills Mirri Maz Duur. Blood magic - or death magic, if you will, since it's all about sacrificing a life - is strong but unpredictable magic.

JRR Martin promised a bitter-sweet ending, this ndg was bitter sweet
It was OK for MOST of the Characters we care about BUT
Danny nuked a city of 1 million people

There was Red haired Bald woman and her daughter to represent the Million citizens of Kings Landing. Is that enough to make us care???

Ending would have been OK except
Danny nuked 1 million people. We OUGHT to care about those Peasnts.

3 Boss deaths were disappointing, it was too easy:
Arya v Night King; Cersei v falling rocks; Danny v nephew

South Westeros is now Holy roman Empire and Arya discovers USA

Technically, its not in the North. The Wall is under the direct control of the Nights Watch, and it controls lands in the Gift and New Gift to provide farm land for sustenance.

Sansa has no power in Nights Watch lands. Nor does Bran, or anyone who has claimed the crown through the series.

I mean, if you're going that route, then you're essentially saying Westeros doesn't haven't any influence over it at all which we know isn't the case. My point was that it was LOCATED in the North. The "Gift" was originally Northern land to begin with.

Ok, without giving credit I broached the idea to mrs mermania. She was thoughtful, doubted the time line, but wasnt sure. I dont know if I intrigued her enough to watch the episode.

Yeah.

Yeah, alright. That's... Well, it's adequate. Hoping it'll be redone in like 20 years when all the books finally come out, but it's... well, it's fine, I suppose.

If D&D think we're just going to roll over and accept Jon because he finally pet the good boy Ghost like he deserved he's got another thing coming. He should never have left that good boy in the first place, the bastard. Never forget, #JusticeForGhost.

The Free Folk going back over the wall and, I suppose returning to their homes? is pretty cool though.

So then Daario Naharis is now the world's most powerful person?

Or would there still be enough Westerosi soldiers/economic power to match him?

Also, is Grey Worm now his own team? Why did he just leave for?

Jon is now officially the worst nephew in the world.

Officially.

Not only did he do his aunt but he betrayed and murdered her as well.

(though only after the said aunt went on a medieval version of a school shooting spree)

Except Grey Worm and the Unsullied are eunuchs meaning that they will have no heirs to succeed them after their deaths. It absolutely defeats the purpose to start a dynasty if it's going to die in one generation.

Emilia Clarke has been low-key warning us about this ending since last summer. “It fucked me up,” she told Vanity Fair. “Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is…” Well. Quite. And after last week's divisive episode, fans unearthed a video interview with Clarke from HBO's Emmys party last September, in which she seems distinctly un-thrilled with Dany's ending. After being asked by an Entertainment Tonight reporter if she's happy with the way things shook out, Clarke laughs awkwardly before yelling "Best season ever!" in a way that suggests she may mean the opposite.

In a post-finale interview with EW, Clarke admitted that when she first read the finale, she was reduced to tears. "“I cried, and I went for a walk," she told the magazine. "I walked out of the house and took my keys and phone and walked back with blisters on my feet. I didn’t come back for five hours. I’m like, ‘How am I going to do this?’" Though Clarke seems to have found ways to process the mind-boggling turns Dany takes this season, she also says her feelings about the storyline remain deeply personal. "I have my own feelings [about the storyline] and it’s peppered with my feelings about myself,” she said. “It’s gotten to that point now where you read [comments about] the character you [have to remind yourself], ‘They’re not talking about you, Emilia, they’re talking about the character.”

And truly whatever your feelings about Dany's character arc over the past six episodes, Clarke has done her absolute best to find the emotional truth in this wild and frequently nonsensical ride.

In another extensive post-finale interview with The New Yorker, Clarke was asked what she would change about the final season if she could, given the much-publicized fan petition for a do-over. "I would’ve loved some more scenes with me and Missandei. I would’ve loved some more scenes with me and Cersei," she admitted. "The genocide was there. That was always going to happen. And I just think more dissection and those beautifully written scenes that the boys have between characters—that we are more than happy to contently sit there and watch ten minutes of two people talking, because it’s beautiful. I just wanted to see a bit more of that." She went on to diplomatically add that she is "in no position to critique the geniuses that have written eight seasons’ worth of wonderful stuff." Hmm.
